The futuristic transport system called “Hyperloop” was proposed by entrepreneur Elon Musk when he proposed a "fifth transportation mode" in 2012. According to the concept of hyperloop technology, commuters travel through a tube having a speed of more than 700mph. The hyperloop technology has developed rapidly with a large number of inventors showing their interest and backing the projects.
Hyperloop would see pods carrying passengers travel at very high speeds through a resistance free and frictionless tube that has a near-vacuum atmosphere. These train pods would either float or use the magnetic levitation technology for traveling from one place to another. With extremely low friction in the tunnel, the tubes or pods would be able to travel at high speeds with the projected top speed of around 760mph.
Companies that are into hyperloop technology are focusing on Asia Pacific market due to the presence of few evolved economies and the population crisis leading to crowded streets. Certain projects taken by the Hyperloop technology companies include the Maharashtra government entering into a tie-up with Virgin Hyperloop One to explore the possibility of connecting Mumbai with Pune using the hyperloop transportation system.
The US-based hyperloop company is expected to conduct a preliminary study in this region. Start of this project would include the signing of a memorandum of understanding or MoU between the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) with the Virgin Hyperloop One. This would be done for identification of potential routes to analyze the high-level economic impact and the technical viability of hyperloop transportation solutions within India.
Another proposed route for the Hyperloop is between the city of Vijayawada and Amaravati that could potentially turn a normal trip of more than one hour to a 6-minute ride. This project will use a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model with funding coming primarily from the private investors. The company Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT), signed a MoU with the Government of Andhra Pradesh for bringing Hyperloop to India.
An agreement is also signed between South Korea's government of technological innovation and infrastructure, the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), and Hanyang University to use HTT's technology. It includes licensing, R&D of the tube infrastructure and safety platform for a full-scale test track. They will get access to HTT's levitation, battery technology, propulsion, and passenger experience designs as well. The South Korean government with the academic institutions announced plans for creating a Hyperloop train known as the Hyper Tube Express (HTX). It would likely travel at around 620 mph, from Seoul to Busan taking around 20 minutes for the complete journey.
India and South Korea are those countries that have already signed MoUs with hyperloop companies and are working on the commercialization phase. China is already working on some other technologies that will surpass hyperloop to provide a faster travel option. Japan is already home to the fastest train in the world as of now and is currently working on increasing the speed and safety of the trains. Asia Pacific Hyperloop Technology Market Key Highlights:

5 Future Transportation Trends That Will Change the Way We Travel
Big changes may soon happen to our roads, seas, and skies. Driverless cars, air taxis, and passenger pods capable of transferring people at speeds of 600 mph or more are bound to make travel faster and safer in the years ahead. These future transportation trends can change the way we commute and travel.
With new innovation comes lots of debate on how technology will impact us and the world around us. There are also tons of safety concerns, regulatory decisions, and ethical questions that will need to be addressed as new transportation methods take over.
Here are 5 of the future transportation changes to look out for:
Hyperloop
Via arstechnica.com
Transportation visionary Elon Musk is developing a technology known as hyperloop. According to him, it’s capable of transporting passengers and freight at speeds of up to 760 mph as early as 2021. The technology would move a group of people or goods in a vehicle through a pressurized track that would accelerate gradually.
This vision hopes to replace bullet trains and airplanes. He envisions cutting the travel time from Los Angeles to San Francisco to 35 minutes.
Autonomous Cars, Trucks, and Ships
Driverless cars are already in test pilot on our roads, with companies like Tesla, Audi, Uber, and Volkswagen already making headlines for the cutting edge technology. Autonomous vehicles hope to remove human error from the transportation equation. Distracted driving is the lead cause of deaths on the road and human mistakes cause between 75% to 96% of maritime accidents, so the argument for autonomous transportation is strong.
As autonomous cars, trucks, and ships take over our roads and seas, there will likely be a big impact on the trucking and freight industry. Today, the US trucking industry employs more than 5% of full-time workers in the US. Questions over how autonomous vehicles will impact the job market remain.
Air Taxis
Via greenbiz.com
More than 20 companies are already in the race to get safe and cost-effective aerial rides in the sky. The Small Aircraft Transportation System will hope to cut city-to-city travel time by operating out of small, local airports. This is in comparison to the major airports most of the US relies on to travel now.
The technology still needs to overcome high production costs and regulation challenges from the FAA and other international aviation organizations.
Underground tunnels
Another transportation innovation coming to us from the mind of Elon Musk is an underground tunnel system to solve local traffic issues. This infrastructure system would make our roads 3D, allowing cars to pay a fee to be lowered underground and transported at high speeds on a metal trolley-like platform.
The Boring Company has already prototyped the technology in Los Angeles. It is working to solve some of the big issues surrounding the technology, such as costs and infrastructure challenges.
Delivery drones
Soon, your neighborhood mailman could be replaced by a flying robot. The Federal Aviation Administration recently approved UPS drone delivery for prescription medication in rural areas. This could mean that the organization is considering to implement full-scale commercial robot delivery.
Delivery drones present privacy questions and will likely increase the cost of delivery, at least in the short term. Drones can also put properties and lives at risk. These safety concerns should undergo analysis before anything else.

FEATURED ENTREPRENEUR FOR SEPTEMBER 18, 2018
On risk: “Failure is an option here. If things are not failing, you are not innovating enough.” - Elon Musk - Explorer, Inventor, Engineer(1971–)
South African entrepreneur Elon Musk is known for founding Tesla Motors and SpaceX, which launched a landmark commercial spacecraft in 2012.
Synopsis
Born in South Africa in 1971, Elon Musk became a multimillionaire in his late 20s when he sold his start-up company, Zip2, to a division of Compaq Computers. He achieved more success by founding X.com in 1999, SpaceX in 2002 and Tesla Motors in 2003. Musk made headlines in May 2012, when SpaceX launched a rocket that would send the first commercial vehicle to the International Space Station. He bolstered his portfolio with the purchase of SolarCity in 2016, and cemented his standing as a leader of industry by taking on an advisory role in the early days of President Donald Trump's administration.
Early Life
Son of a Canadian mother and a South African father, Elon Reeve Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa. He spent his early childhood with his brother Kimbal and sister Tosca in South Africa, and at 10, the introverted Elon developed an interest in computers. During this time, his parents divorced. He taught himself how to program, and when he was 12 he made his first software sale—of a game he created called Blastar. At age 17, in 1989, he moved to Canada to attend Queen’s University and avoid mandatory service in the South African military, but he left in 1992 to study business and physics at the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in economics and stayed for a second bachelor’s degree in physics.
After leaving Penn, Elon Musk headed to Stanford University in California to pursue a Ph.D in energy physics. However, his move was timed perfectly with the Internet boom, and he dropped out of Stanford after just two days to become a part of it, launching his first company, Zip2 Corporation.
An online city guide, Zip2 was soon providing content for the new websites of both The New York Times and the Chicago Tribune, and in 1999, a division of Compaq Computer Corporation bought Zip2 for $307 million in cash and $34 million in stock options.
An Earnest Entrepreneur
Also in 1999, Musk co-founded X.com, an online financial services/payments company. An X.com acquisition the following year led to the creation of PayPal as it is known today, and in October 2002, PayPal was acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion in stock. Before the sale, Musk owned 11 percent of PayPal stock.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Musk founded his third company, Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, or SpaceX, in 2002 with the intention of building spacecraft for commercial space travel. By 2008, SpaceX was well established, and NASA awarded the company the contract to handle cargo transport for the International Space Station—with plans for astronaut transport in the future—in a move to replace NASA’s own space shuttle missions.
The boundless potential of space exploration and the preservation of the future of the human race have become the cornerstones of Musk's abiding interests, and toward these he has founded the Musk Foundation, which is dedicated to space exploration and the discovery of renewable and clean energy sources.
Tesla Motors
Another Musk venture is Tesla Motors, a company dedicated to producing affordable, mass-market electric cars. Five years after its formation, the company in 2008 unveiled the Roadster, a sports car capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, as well traveling nearly 250 miles between charges of its lithum ion battery. With a stake in the company taken by Daimler and a strategic partnership with Toyota, Tesla Motors launched its initial public offering in June 2010, raising $226 million.
Additional successes include the Model S, the company's first electric sedan. Capable of covering 265 miles between charges, the Model S was honored as the 2013 Car of the Year by Motor Trend magazine.
In April 2017, it was announced that Tesla had surpassed General Motors to become the most valuable U.S. car maker. The news was an obvious boon to Tesla, which was looking to ramp up production and release its Model 3 sedan later that year.
Preparing for Lift-Off
On May 22, 2012, Musk and SpaceX made history when the company launched its Falcon 9 rocket into space with an unmanned capsule. The vehicle was sent to the International Space Station with 1,000 pounds of supplies for the astronauts stationed there, marking the first time a private company had sent a spacecraft to the International Space Station. Of the launch, Musk was quoted as saying, "I feel very lucky. ... For us, it's like winning the Super Bowl."
In December 2013, SpaceX notched another milestone when Falcon 9 carried a satellite to geosynchronous transfer orbit, a distance at which the satellite would lock into an orbital path that matched the Earth's rotation. In February 2015, SpaceX launched another Falcon 9 fitted with the Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) satellite, aiming to observe the extreme emissions from the sun that affect power grids and communications systems on Earth.
In March 2017, SpaceX enjoyed another breakthrough with the successful test flight and landing of a Falcon 9 rocket made from reusable parts, a development that opened the door for more affordable space travel.
Other Innovations
Musk has continued his work in attempting to make his innovative ideas a reality. In August 2013, he released a concept for a new form of transportation called the "Hyperloop," an invention that would foster commuting between major cities while severely cutting travel time. Ideally resistant to weather and powered by renewable energy, the Hyperloop would propel riders in pods through a network of low-pressure tubes at speeds reaching more than 700 mph. Musk noted that the Hyperloop could take from seven to 10 years to be built and ready for use.
Although he introduced the Hyperloop with claims that it would be safer than a plane or train, with an estimated cost of $6 billion—approximately one-tenth of the cost for the rail system planned by the state of California—Musk's concept has drawn skepticism. Nevertheless, the entrepreneur has sought to encourage the development of this idea. After he announced a competition for teams to submit their designs for a Hyperloop pod prototype, the first Hyperloop Pod Competition was held at the SpaceX facility in January 2017.
The entrepreneur has also pursued an interest in Artificial Intelligence. He became co-chair of the nonprofit research company OpenAI, which launched in late 2015 with the stated mission of advancing digital intelligence to benefit humanity. Additionally, in 2017 it was revealed that Musk was backing a venture called Neuralink, which intends to create devices to be implanted in the human brain and help people merge with software.
In yet another innovation, Musk in January 2017 suddenly decided he was going find a way to reduce traffic by devoting resources to boring and building tunnels. He launched his venture, reportedly named "The Boring Company," with a test dig on the SpaceX property in Los Angeles.
SolarCity Acquisition
In August 2016, in Musk’s continuing effort to promote and advance sustainable energy and products for a wider consumer base, a $2.6 billion dollar deal was solidified to combine his electric car and solar energy companies. His Tesla Motors Inc. announced an all-stock deal purchase of SolarCity Corp., a company Musk had helped his cousins start in 2006. He is a majority shareholder in each entity. “Solar and storage are at their best when they're combined. As one company, Tesla (storage) and SolarCity (solar) can create fully integrated residential, commercial and grid-scale products that improve the way that energy is generated, stored and consumed,” read a statement on Tesla’s website about the deal.
Trump Adviser
With Donald Trump announcing plans to pursue massive infrastructure developments after his successful election to the U.S. presidency in 2016, Musk found himself on common ground with the new president and his advisers. That December, he was named to President Trump’s Strategy and Policy Forum, and the following January he joined Trump's Manufacturing Jobs Initiative.
While sometimes at odds with the president's controversial measures, such as a proposed ban on immigrants from Muslim-majority countries, Musk defended his involvement with the new administration. "My goals," he tweeted in early 2017, "are to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy and to help make humanity a multi-planet civilization, a consequence of which will be the creating of hundreds of thousands of jobs and a more inspiring future for all."
Personal Life
Musk, who became a U.S. citizen in 2002, has been married twice and has five sons. He married Justine Wilson in 2000. In 2002, their first son died at 10 weeks old from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). They would have five additional sons together, twins and triplets.
After their contentious divorce, Musk met actress Talulah Riley and they married in 2010. The couple split in 2012 but married each other again in 2013. Their relationship ultimately ended in divorce in 2016.

RGU architecture students among first in the world to release their work as NFTs
Students from Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment will be among the first in the world to release their work as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs).
The students, studying MSc Advanced Architectural Design, have been developing a series of forward-looking projects for the North East of Scotland and have now released their work on the OpenSea.io NFT marketplace.
Castleton high tower design:
NFTs are unique digital objects which are housed on a blockchain, the technology behind cryptocurrencies. They are best described as a registration licence number for a particular unique object.
NFTs provide a platform for artists to break through previously inaccessible markets, or in this case, for architectural designers creating original designs.
NFTs are currently trending due to the sale of popular digital assets such as the first ever tweet by the founder of Twitter and the original image behind the 2005 Disaster Girl meme.
The students, inspired by the theme “automata”, have designed hyperloop and vertiport stations, high-rise towers and community centres in Aberdeen. These architectural designs address future challenges, with a particular focus on zero-carbon issues.
Theo Dounas, Learning Excellence Leader at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment, commented: “Our work on the applications of blockchain technologies in architectural design expose the MSc AAD students to the cutting edge of digital tools that can be used for design and design management.
Hyperloop design:
“To connect our research into building information modelling and blockchain with our day to day teaching activities in the MSc Advanced Architectural Design, we set up a week-long, intensive workshop where the students were able to design and model their own designs on the blockchain.
“The students were excited about the workshop and working with blockchain technologies, as it allowed them to develop new business and operational models for architectural designers and their engagement with decentralized communities.”
The Scott Sutherland School has already built mechanisms to create NFTs for building components and use the blockchain as an information layer for a circular economy for the Architecture Engineering and Construction Industry.
Additionally, the School recently hosted the second research workshop in blockchain in construction along with the Construction Blockchain Consortium.

Architects “are never taught the right thing” “Universities are failing to give architects the training that will enable them to find solutions for an imminent global housing crisis. Poverty, population growth, natural disasters and war are combining to create demand for more than a billion homes.” “But architects are unable to overcome the challenges posed by politics, economics and building codes to deliver viable solutions. It would be great, with more than one million architects in the world, that more solutions and more proposals try to address the issue” 2016 Pritzker laureate Alejandro Aravena.“

Scott Sutherland School of Architecture Event
Architects of the future present designs to the public in ‘Big Crit’ Public event bucks the trend of ‘unfashionable’ debates
Students at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen will present their designs for review to high profile members of the architecture profession in a public event on Friday 18 May.
The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment is giving members of the public the unique opportunity to witness reviews of student design projects by a distinguished panel in it’s annual ‘Big Crit’ event. The day-long public discussion includes individual presentations and reviews of work from all year groups to learn lessons and influence future projects. To help reflect on the design proposals, the School invites a number of high profile architects and critics from industry to talk about the student work in the context of broader discussions about contemporary architecture and urbanism.
The panel this year includes renowned international architects Charlie Sutherland, Joe Morris and Pier Vittorio Aureli, as well as Scott Sutherland Visiting Professors Neil Gillespie OBE and Alan Dunlop. Deputy Editor of The Architects’ Journal and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Rory Olcayto, will also be on hand to offer his comments.
Neil Lamb, Senior Lecturer at the School, comments: “A wide range of student work will be critiqued providing a great opportunity to see the review process in action, something which is normally done behind closed doors. The open discussion will also be an exciting event for those interested in the field.
“Over the past twenty years, public ‘crits’ have become unfashionable in architectural education as some feel that it is designed to flatter staff and undermine fragile students. Our ambition is to demonstrate that an open public debate is the ideal forum to help us understand the challenges of contemporary practice.”
The Crit will run from 9.30am – 4.30pm at the Scott Sutherland School, Garthdee, and members of the public are welcome to join the audience at any point during that time. After the Crit at 5pm the distinguished panel will give a 20 minute talk followed by an open discussion.

There have been considerable changes at Scott Sutherland in the last few years, as the school opens up more to the rest of the UK. The Big Crit initiative has been a great success and involved some of the country’s most respected architects and writers in their end of year review.
The Master of Architecture course has architecture and urban design units run by Professors Gokay Deveci, Neil Gillespie and Alan Dunlop. The drawings above are by students from Professor Alan Dunlop’s unit. The students in this unit are not allowed to use computers to develop their ideas and present their work. They must sketch, draw by hand and make models, quite a radical idea for a school of architecture in the 21st Century but it has resulted in some beautiful work and drawings and worth seeing.

Elon: A dreamer, a doer, an architect of the 21st century
Tumblr media
By David Sharp
At 46 years old, Elon Musk is just getting warmed up.
Musk has achieved a staggering amount in such a short space of time. His rĂŠsumĂŠ extends far beyond simply being 'The Tesla Guy'. Like Amazon's Jeff Bezos, he gained notoriety in the 1990s as a mover and shaker in the tech scene, first with Zip2, a "city guide" service that had contracts with newspapers such as the New York Times (which was later acquired by Compaq) and then with X.com (a pioneering online payment company which merged with PayPal).
While the Jeff Bezos comparisons were apt during the 1990s, at the turn of the century, Musk seems destined towards becoming a Steve Jobs-meets-Tony Stark-like visionary.
SpaceX, and the Colonisation of Mars
After Compaq bought Zip2 and X.com merged with PayPal, Elon Musk's ambitions only gained momentum: the dreams only got bigger - by orders of magnitude. First up was 'Mars Oasis', a bold (and barely feasible) idea, telling WIRED "The idea was to send a small greenhouse to the surface of Mars, packed with dehydrated nutrient gel that could be hydrated on landing. You’d wind up with this great photograph of green plants and red background—the first life on Mars, as far as we know, and the farthest that life’s ever traveled. It would be a great money shot, plus you’d get a lot of engineering data about what it takes to maintain a little greenhouse and keep plants alive on Mars."
This otherworldly compulsion had monumental challenges along the way, though. Musk continues "I suddenly understood that my whole premise behind the Mars Oasis idea was flawed. The real reason we weren’t going to Mars wasn’t a lack of national will; it was that we didn’t have cheap enough rocket technology to get there...Rocket technology had not materially improved since the ’60s—arguably it had gone backward! We decided to reverse that trend."
The research for his 'Mars Oasis' concept set about a line of inquiry that diverted Musk away from his initial idea and, serendipitously, towards SpaceX. He had provided himself with his own crash course on the logistics and challenges of space exploration, and he had lit another fire under himself to drag space travel into the 21st century.
Today, SpaceX's innovation has slashed the cost of space travel, and it made it the dominant front runner in the field, with 2017 being a banner year for the company, following numerous successful launches (and rocket 'reuses').
A profile of Elon Musk in GQ highlighted that, at the heart of SpaceX, a fundamental driving force behind what SpaceX does - beyond merely the human exploration of Mars - is the potential and desire for humans to colonise Mars (which could significantly reduce the chances of a human extinction event). On this topic, Musk is attributed as saying: "You back up your hard drive.... Maybe we should back up life, too?"
Revolutionising Cars and Energy with Tesla
In conjunction to running SpaceX, Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla, which has a relatively short history, despite its seismic impact on the auto industry, which is chronicled by TechCrunch in its "A Brief History of Tesla" piece.
Musk heralded Tesla and helped gain financial backing after Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded the in 2003. The company unveiled its Roadster in 2006, after signing a production deal with Lotus. After a shaky and unprofitable start, Tesla gained headway in the auto industry following the launch of its Model S, as well as a $465m loan from the US government and a strategic partnership with Daimler AG.
But, after a rocky developmental phase, under Musk's guidance, Tesla has completely disrupted the market. In April 2017, Quartz reported that Tesla "which saw its value surpass Nissan in February, is on a tear. After stumbling in late February, Tesla’s stock has rebounded and the company is now taking on the biggest car makers well ahead of schedule. Shares in the 14-year-old Tesla closed up more than 7% on Monday, giving it a market cap of $48.6 billion, 7% higher than that of 113-year-old Ford."
In 2016, Tesla completed the $2.6bn purchase of SolarCity, a US solar energy giant, which would further leverage Tesla's vision of drivers sustainably charging electric vehicles from their homes through solar technology. From August 2016 onwards, Tesla's acquisition of SolarCity also separated the company from its competition in another key sense: Tesla wasn't just a car company anymore.
In a 2017 address, Elon Musk gave his vision of the future, and remained bullish about the continued rise of the electric car, self driving technology, and the adoption of shared autonomous vehicles (saying "it's just a question of when"). Musk also predicted that Tesla would eventually disrupt fossil fuel consumption because of its increased efforts with solar and lithium-ion battery production.
Reinventing Transport with Hyperloop and The Boring Company
Musk has also shown a passion to explore new means of public and inter-city transport with Hyperloop and The Boring Company. With these two ventures, he is aiming to combat long commutes across vast expanses of land, and also finite road space within built up areas. Firstly, Hyperloop claims it "will reinvent transportation to eliminate the barriers of distance and time. Hyperloop One will move people and goods, and unlock unprecedented value for governments, businesses, and consumers." Simply put, Hyperloop will bring its own brand of ultra-high speed trains.
As it pertains to cars, if Elon Musk has his way, the future of travel is not a Jetsonsesque flying car, but a conventional car that utilises underground links, which would decongest deadlocked roads in heavily populated cities such as Los Angeles. This is the sole initiative of The Boring Company, which takes a "3D" approach to car travel, whereby, below the top surface, cars can be lowered underground by elevators and attached to a platform resembling a sled, which will carry the car to its destination. What's more there could be numerous underground levels implemented, leading it to be a multi-story network underneath the world's major cities.
Much criticism has been focused on these two ventures, with questions being asked regarding the financial viability of undertaking the projects, as well as other hurdles associated with negotiating and being granted building permission from state to state. Both ventures are at a relatively early stage at present, so their success remains to be seen.
But progress is being made. Hyperloop One recently successfully trailed a test track in Nevada, and Musk has also claimed that he has reached a verbal agreement with the government to commence a Washington-to-New York Hyperloop (which will take just 30 minutes to travel).
The Most Significant Technology Ever Created
His non-profit, OpenAI, which, aims to develop "artificial general intelligence" (or AGI) which could exponentially impact medicine, and limitless other fields. The organisation describes the development of AGI as "the most significant technology ever created by humans." As well as Elon Musk and Sam Altman, OpenAI has serious backing, from individuals such as Reid Hoffman and Peter Thiel, along with numerous corporate sponsors, including Amazon and Microsoft.
Like OpenAI, Google has also pursued AGI, as opposed to just AI, which gives computers the ability to learn in the same way that humans do. As The Guardian reports, AGI development allows computers to acquire skills - which bridges a significant gap between human a computer intelligence.
After OpenAI released its Universe software, and has continued to reveal more on its methodology, including the use of reinforced learning. TechCrunch wrote "Every parent’s worst nightmare is a student spending more time playing video games and surfing the web than studying for school. But the team over at OpenAI believes that a “fun parent” approach could actually bring us all one step closer to the elusive generalized intelligence. Its new tool, Universe, was created to train and measure AI frameworks with video games, applications and websites."
Brain Implants, Telepathy, and Beyond
In addition to OpenAI, Musk's Neuralink, founded in 2016, is a neurotechnology company "developing ultra high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers." The company is reportedly focused towards medical endeavours, but its long-term goals seem generally open-ended.
WIRED reported that "the firm's goal is to turn cloud-based AI into an extension of the human brain. The company will aim to create (and bring to market) a product that can help those with severe brain injuries. It's product, which will be developed within the next four years will eventually lead humans to be able to communicate by 'consensual telepathy'."
With radical technological upheaval that is brought about by ventures such as Neuralink, pessimism - and even hysteria - are likely to follow. As Musk revealed more about Neuralink, lively debate among critics and advocates of brain implant technology began to boil over - a debate on RT featured a news anchor fielding questions and concerns about Neuralink to technology experts. However, until hard evidence and greater detail about Neurolink's technology (and the benefits and flaws of its application) is presented, the debate is subject to theory and bias, which is difficult to draw conclusions on.
Elon Musk: A Polarising Presence
Elon Musk, his vision for the future and his journey to turn his dreams into a reality is a remarkable, mind-blowing story so far. The industries that he has entered and endeavoured to pioneer are incredibly wide-ranging - to the extent that it is barely conceivable that this is the work of just one person. He has thrown serious financial and intellectual weight behind his various undertakings that he will undoubtedly leave his mark on the 21st century. His habit of dreaming out loud has brought much skepticism regarding his ability to deliver on his numerous bold promises, and yet he continues to dream and, more importantly, do.

Middle-East Hyperloop Technology Market
The advanced and high-tech transport system called Hyperloop was projected by entrepreneur Elon Musk when he proposed a "fifth transportation mode" in 2012. As per the concept of hyperloop technology, commuters travel through the tube with the help of a pod and has a speed of more than 700mph.
The quick expansion and increase in interest to commercialize the Hyperloop technology have developed speedily with a large number of inventors showing their importance and backing the projects. Hyperloop would see pods carrying passengers travel at extremely high speeds through a resistance free and frictionless tube having a near-vacuum atmosphere. These pods would either use the magnetic levitation technology float or float within a frictionless less tube to travel from one place to another.
Hyperloop technology is accepted globally with the government from all over the world focusing on introducing this new technology. The high cost and infrastructure have made Middle-East a preferable location for investors all around the world. The growth and expansion of hyperloop technology in Middle-east are changing rapidly due to the extra emphasis of the government to introduce the new transport system.
The Roads and Transport Authority or RTA has unveiled the preliminary design of the Hyperloop project that aims to transform travel by reducing the journey from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in just 12 minutes. Hyperloop, that has formed a part of RTA’s initiatives made for the Dubai Future Accelerators, was exhibited and shown for the first time in the world.
It was done after collaborating with Virgin Hyperloop One as part of its participation in the UAE Innovation Month. The US-based company Hyperloop One has agreed to go ahead with this deal in Dubai to analyze building of a new 500mph train to Abu Dhabi, crossing a distance of 150km in just 12 minutes. The new high-speed transport link building between Dubai and Abu Dhabi would cut travel time to a great extent between the two important cities. The dire traffic environments that were long suffered by commuters traveling between Dubai and Abu Dhabi typically necessitates the need for a faster journey eventually leading to the advent of Hyperloop.

Top Five Sustainability Trends for 2019
Years of research, international observation, working with corporate intrapreneurs and social entrepreneurs around the world – we feel confident looking toward the future!
2019 will be a continuation of trends, growing in momentum.  This year will also see the rise of sustainability practices in unexpected places using innovative applications of cutting-edge technologies.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE in its many manifestations will assist sustainability efforts by increasing efficiencies – a trend we’ve seen for the past couple of years.  Now, entrepreneurs are bringing their technology to market as reported in CSE’s  Sustainability (ESG) Reporting Trends: North America 2018.  What is brand new (pun intended) is the application of AI to social marketing.  AI algorithms can create emotion- and character-based interfaces to gain consumer buy-in and brand loyalty.  Creating a persuasive digital persona will draw from positive human characteristics such as ethics, empathy, transparency and social awareness.  This AI-driven marketing increasingly will be deployed in social media.
SUSTAINABILITY PROFESSIONALS are leaving home. Sustainability practitioners will be found in and demanded by departments throughout an organization to strengthen organizational culture around sustainability.  The legal team, Financial department, ERM (risk management), Procurement, communications, R&D, investor relations – cross-organizational departments will want a sustainability expert among their ranks, working side-by-side, answering questions, leading programs and informing policy throughout the corporate structure. Sustainability practitioners will no longer be relegated to the Sustainability Department, under a Director of Sustainability, outsiders who tap the rest of the company once a year for metrics in pursuit of the increasingly in demand Sustainability Report.
TRANSPORTATION is moving toward greater efficiency using established methods of better scheduling, on-demand delivery, and computer-assisted routing.  These are well established trends.  What is new is the growing awareness that climate change will change transportation dynamics.  The industry is experimenting with significantly low-fuel and even no-fuel options.  Elon Musk has a functioning mile of Hyperloop. Adhering to the sustainability principle of transparency, his Hyperloop concept is explicitly open-sourced, encouraging creativity and entry by other players.  Jeff Bezos is betting on battery-operated drones for urban delivery – limiting carbon emissions and congestion.  Already social entrepreneurs are using congestion to their benefit to promote the use of electric scooters in dense urban settings.
AGRICULTURE is increasingly under scrutiny for health and safety.  Blockchain will track products farm-to-table.  Local sourcing is growing, as is the demand for fresh products which are organic, biodynamic and/or non-GMO.  To accommodate this growing market, there is concern that these farming practices, being taken over by Agribusiness, may actually be contributing more to climate change.  If  more acres of land must be cleared, even slash and burned, to get non-GMO yields equivalent to 1 acre of “regular” farming, research shows the carbon load is greater for the more natural farming practices.  One option is to use existing farmlands, too often being subsumed into suburbia.  Another option is the use of halophytes which grow on desert or denuded lands, thrive on salt water and have long root systems which sequester carbon.  Increasing yields without the carbon burden of clearing lands will affect the climate change race by carbon sequester and lower dependency on fossil fuels.
CARBON TAX debates will increase as Canada implements its carbon tax (revenue neutral, as are most  options debated in the US).  Canada’s carbon tax may be high enough to meet climate targets but won’t cover the social cost of carbon.  Canada’s move is in part because it is already experiencing climate-related “coastal erosion, thawing permafrost, increases in heat waves, droughts and flooding, and related risks to critical infrastructures and food security,” as noted in its legislation.  With the Canadian carbon tax, between 2019 and 2022, gas prices will increase less than 10%, but the cost of coal will double, increasing demand for cheaper carbon-free electricity.  The US Paris commitment is to reach 26 -28% below 2005 levels by 2025.  Any headway the US makes will not come via a Carbon Tax anytime soon but, at least, both state and federal options are being discussed and legislation proposed.

Hyperloop Train Market - Strategize to uplift business 2025
Global Hyperloop Train Market: Snapshot
The global market for hyperloop train is likely to exhibit high-speed expansion in the next few years. The demand for cheap and quick modes of transport that incur low base-costs and are built on easier-to-construct infrastructure, are immune to natural calamities such as earthquakes are the key factors expected to work in favor of the global hyperloop train market. The demand is expected to be highest in emerging economies with massive rise in population and a worrying decline in space to accommodate the mounting population, required modes of transport, and need for effective transport technologies that are quick and cheap.
The market is expected to witness the most promising demand for passenger transport over the next few years. As passenger transport of massive scales can bring about several benefits to an economy, such as the reduced number of personal vehicles on the roads and reduced levels of pollution and the provision of economical transport option for the larger low-income population, governments across the globe are focusing on developments in this area.
While hyperloop trains are comparable to speed in transport options such as bullet trains and airplanes, their cost is comparatively very low, a factor which could make hyperloop trains more popular among consumers. The confluence of low cost and lighting fast-speeds could make hyperloop trains one of the future generations' most preferred transport option and could change the face of the transportation sector.

Global Hyperloop Train Market: Overview
With rapid urbanization across the world, the need for quick and yet efficient modes of transportation is escalating. The concept of hyperloop train may be the answer to the increasing travel demands, as it promises to achieve speeds up to 800-mile-per-hour via transportation tube concept which was first introduced in 2013. Hyperloop Transportation Technologies has been developing this concept for past few years and the stocks of Elon Musk’s hyperloop high-speed transportation system are now available in AECOM. Due to never ending demand for transportation and travel across developed as well as emerging economies, several investors are coming forward with their financial might to make the concept of hyperloop train a reality in near future. Consequently, the global market for hyperloop train is expected to expand at a rapid rate during the forecast period of 2017 to 2025.

Global Hyperloop Train Market: Key Trends
Support from several governments is the primary driving factor of this market. For instance, Slovakia has recently sealed an agreement with Hyperloop Transportation Technologies to build the concept in Europe, connecting the Vienna in Austria and Budapest in Hungary with the capital city of Bratislava. If everything falls into place, the travel to Vienna to Bratislava would only take 8 minutes while Budapest to Bratislava can be covered in 10 minutes. In a car, these two journeys currently consume an hour and two hours respectively. This significant time-saving is expected to encourage several other European countries to invest in the concept of hyperloop train and thereby augmenting the demand in the market for the same.
Along the same lines, the state of California in the United States is in process of permitting a five-mile test track in Quay Valley, with construction expected to begin sometime in 2017. Conversely, the concept of hyperloop train is yet to see the day of light, and its business model has not been completely realized. Moreover, the high cost associated with the construction is hindering the global hyperloop market from realizing its potential at the earliest.
Global Hyperloop Train Market: Market Potential
Though Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is yet to open for traditional funding, CEO and founder Dirk Ahlborn has revealed that more than 600 institutional investors are willing to provide financial support. With donations worth more than US$600 mn in the form of wind chambers, land assets, and other engineering tools, hyperloop train market is expanding its horizons, also gaining support from several governments in Asia Pacific and the Middle East. According to Ahlborn, first few passengers to travel via hyperloop test train would be in 2018 or 2019 in the U.S.
Global Hyperloop Train Market: Regional Outlook
Owing to substantial finances required for the realization of the concept, the market for hyperloop train currently has most of the demand coming from the developed regions of North America and Europe, although the country of Middle East is also adamant of improving their infrastructure and is expected to invest financially as well as allot land for hyperloop train during the forecast period. Co-founder and COO of Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, Bibop Gresta, says that six more countries in Middle East and Asia are ready to announce the adoption of the hyperloop train market in the next few months.
Global Hyperloop Train Market: Competitive Landscape
Hyperloop Transportation Technologies is currently the only company working on the concept, although given its usefulness, several other technology and construction companies are expected to jump on the bandwagon during the forecast period.
