Tunbridge Filmy Fern (Hymenophyllum tunbrigense)
This little fern, Hymenophyllum tunbridgense, takes its name from Tunbridge Wells in eastern England. It has a westerly distribution on the island of Prydain and thrives in wet microclimates next to waterfalls and in the Celtic Rainforests of Cymru. To those acquainted with it, it can easily be distinguished from Hymenophyllum wilsonii, from a distance, due to its colour and shape. It is always a good idea though to inspect the serrated edges of the indusium for a confirmation. The pictures here are from the county of Gwynedd, Cymru (U.K.).

stu is definitely some kind of polypore fungus like a reishi mushroom or something. i mean yeah the argument can be made for something in the genus psilocybe but idk that’s kinda boring and he’s got more of a polypore vibe to him anyways. ambrose is like a filmy fern (family hymenophyllum). joey is one of those scary deep ocean floor crustaceans i dont know much about. something with spiny legs yknow. lukey is a cecropia moth because well i said so. cookie is a cattail. i was just gonna say he’s some kind of grass but there’s too many of those and i think a cattail kinda suits him best. cavs hm cavs is like a spider orchid i think
#this just sat in my drafts for a day because i was scared people would judge me for this? anyways#kglw

#2241 - Hymenophyllum multifidum - Much-divided Filmy Fern
From the Greek humen and phullon and the Latin multus and findere - meaning 'much-divided' 'filmy-leaf'.
Endemic to New Zealand, where it grows as a ground cover, epiphyte and on rock faces, boulders and on shaded rock overhangs. Rare in wetlands. The fronds are mostly one cell thick, and prone to desication.
Huka Falls, Taupo Volcanic Zone, New Zealand
