“Normally, you use colors that are the opposite of your eye color to make them stand out,” explained makeup artist Kate Lee of the look she created prior to tonight’s SAG Awards for The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby. “But I didn’t want to do anything predictable. I like to be very instinctual — that’s where the fun is!” Before the actor hit the red carpet in Valentino where she was nominated along with the rest of her cast for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, Lee reached for Chanel’s Ombre Première Longwear Cream Eyeshadow Verderame, a “multidimensional greyish-green that looks quite blue” and blended it through the crease. “She has the most piercing blue eyes,” added the pro, who suggests applying the shadow with one brush and blending with another free of pigment to avoid overdosing on color. Lee tapped creamy concealer over the center of Kirby’s lids to camouflage redness minus any shimmer. In lieu of basic black, lashes were polished off with an equally unexpected hue: Dimensions De Chanel Mascara in Nero Metallo, a blue-green that pulled the entire eye together.

After Kirby’s stylist suggested red lipstick, Lee whipped out Chanel’s new Poudre À Lèvres Lip Balm and Powder Duo in Rosso Parthenope. “When you press the powder into the balm you get this really bright, matte finish,” she said of Kirby’s poppy pout. To avoid a harsh, painted-on effect, the pro only defined the cupid’s bow with liner. While this statement mouth may look high maintenance, Lee insists that the lip “takes care of itself.” She gave Kirby the compact (along with Tatcha blotting papers and a powder puff dusted with La Mer’s loose powder) for touch-ups, but equates this lip combo to foundation and powder. “Once it’s on there, it’s not going anywhere,” she says.

Aside from defining brows, Lee kept the rest of the makeup minimal. Before applying foundation, she glossed over Kirby’s cheekbones, jawline, bridge of the nose, and crest of the lip with Glossier’s Haloscope in Quartz. ���It gives you a bit of hidden dimension instead of having your highlight sit on top of the skin,” explained the pro. Then, she used a Beautyblender Pro dampened with Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist and applied Chanel Vitalumière Aqua foundation, “a fabulous tool for reflecting light and adding luminosity without making someone look too made up,” Lee said of her go-to formula. While she often reaches for the same key products, the face painter emphasized that there’s no better time to break the beauty rules than before a red carpet. We couldn't agree more.

How to be Classy and Elegant

Hello my darlings, today we will be covering what it means to be classy and elegant and how to reach that level of sophistication we all dream of. Firstly it is important to note that being classy does NOT mean acting stuck up and acting as though you are above everyone else. It is about being polite and kind to everyone you meet, having all around good manners and taking care of your mind,body and soul in order to be the most confident version of yourself. These are some steps I recommend to start living your most elegant and perfect life.

Body and Skin Care

It is important to practice good hygiene, make sure you are washing regularly and using nice scented products when you do so. Personally I wash my body and hair everyday in the morning but it is fine to only wash your hair every second day.

I always make sure my shower gel, body lotion and perfume all have the same scent. My personal favourites are: L'Occitane- Terre de Lumière, Dior- Miss Dior Roses N’Roses and Chanel- Coco Mademoiselle.

You should wash your face twice everyday and finding a skincare routine that works for you is so important, brands that I love and recommend are Neal’s Yard Remedies, Liz Earle, Elizabeth Arden and La mer. It is so important to everyday take off whatever make up you are wearing and keep your face moisturised.

Make sure as well to have good oral hygiene, brush your teeth twice a day and make sure to floss.

Diet and Exercise 

Exercise is something I struggle with but I do try to go for a run and do some at home work out videos every morning first thing. I recommend following Couch to 5k if you are a beginner runner. It makes the whole running experience much easier and before you know it you'll be running 5k. After my run I go straight into following some home work out videos, usually 2-3 depending on how I am feeling. These are some of my favourites: Legs,  bum, abs, arms, total body.

In terms of Diet I tend to eat mostly plant based and always vegetarian. My day consists of 3 meals, sometimes with a light snack between lunch and dinner. Sometimes I eat more and sometimes I eat less but I tend to just eat the same meals through the week until I get bored of them.

Breakfast: Avocado and toast (with egg or tofu scramble sometimes), porridge (made with oat/almond milk, banana, flaxseed, chia seed, pumpkin seed, banana, cinnamon apple, more cinnamon and maple syrup), peanut/almond butter on toast or banana pancakes.

Lunch/Dinner: Salad with avocado, sweet potato and moroccon spiced lentils or sweet chilli tofu (coat the tofu in cornflour and fry in a pan with a little oil. Let it go brown and crispy and turn off the heat but leave tofu in pan on the hob. Mix 2 tbs of sweet chilli sauce, one tbs soy sauce, one tbs apple cider vinegar and coat the tofu).  Soup, sweet potato and kale chilli.

Snacks: fruit, fruit bars, a slice of toast with almond/peanut butter

If I am craving something unhealthy I will allow myself to indulge every once in a while but the key to being able to eat consistently healthy is to eat good whole foods that you genuinely enjoy and look forward to eating.

In the mornings I will either have a matcha latte, coffee or tea and then I drink iced lemon water throughout the day and then Ill have a peppermint or green tea before bed.

Appearance 

When it comes to hair and makeup I never go out with my hair wet or not styled, whether it be up in a neat ponytail or bun, straightened or curled. 

I tend to keep my make up minimal using makeup from brands that use mostly natural or organic ingredients such as Bare Minerals, Kjaer Weis or Oxygenetixs (amazing foundation). however I do use the Chanel Hydra Beauty Essence Mist to set my makeup and it works wonders.

In terms of how i like to dress I recommend checking out these video by Josie (the fashion mumblr) on “How to Look Wealthy”, “How to Build your Wardrobe”, “How to find your personal style” and “How to look polished everyday”. These videos sum up exactly how I feel about the way in which you dress and present yourself.

Acting Elegant

Speak well: Use proper grammar  and try to have a varied vocabulary.  Avoid swearing and gossiping as well as this will make you look bad. Instead think about everything you say carefully and enunciate your words. You do not need to try and change your accent just think of speaking clearly and try not to be the loudest person in the room, the general rule should be to talk 20% and listen 80% when having a conversation with someone or a group of people.

Be polite: Act interested when someone talks to you are respond appropriately. Have impeccable manners, say please and thank you whenever it is appropriate, dont use your phone when you are in conversation with someone or at the dinner table.

Try and remain calm at all times, even if someone is being rude to you. 

Act confident: Most people struggle with confidence, but the more you act confident and fake it the more real confidence. Stop putting yourself down and instead praise and lift yourself up You will be surprised in the difference you feel!

Be Intelligent: read books, keep up to date on current events. Never fake knowledge but instead ask questions during discussion and learn as much as you can.

Awards season came and went quicker than we could say ‘Ladybird’ and with it came plenty of feminist statements, a smattering of sensational gowns and a plethora of new beauty trends.

The Oscars was no exception. The celebrities on the Oscars red carpet kept their hair and makeup rather wearable (but none-the-less jaw-dropping).

Beyond the star’s penchant for classic glossy skin and chic nude lips, if you paid closer attention, a new makeup trend reigned supreme: champagne eyeshadow.

The light bronze hue was on the lids of all our favourite stars. Some went matte, and others showed a little bit of sparkle, but champagne lids was the stand-out beauty trend of the night.

The stars complemented their golden lids with feathery eyelashes and rosy cheeks.

Allison Williams was one of the stars championing the look – and it’s perfectly easy to re-create at home.

Nina Parker, the makeup artist behind Alison’s look, took to her Instagram page to share all the products she used.

First, she prepped her skin with Chanel’s Hydra Beauty Masque De Nuit Au Camelia, the brand’s Essence Mist and Nourishing Lip Care. Then she used Chanel’s Sublimage La Crème and La Crème Yeux.

For the makeup base, Nina chose Chanel’s Vitalumiere Moisture Rich Radiance Foundation in #20, and the Perfection Concealer in the same shade. She finished it of with the Poudre Universelle Libre in #20 Clair.

On the eyes she used: Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres in #226 Tisse Rivoli Ombré Premiere, #28 Sable Illusion D’Ombre, #97 New Moon. Before applying the brands Le Crayon Khol Noir eye pencil in #61, and the Noir Inimitable mascara in #10 Noir.

For the flushed cheeks she started with the bronzer Soleil Tan De Chanel, then the blusher Joues Contraste in Jersey. Before adding some glow with Chanel’s Les Beiges Poudre Lumiere in Rosy Gold.

1. MARÍA PEDRAZA -> LAS SOMBRAS AZULES.

Como si de un filtro Instagram se tratara, las sombras de este color son capaces de realzar dos tonos el color natural de los ojos azules. María Pedraza -que presentó la película Amar en el festival- lleva un maquillaje creado por el makeup artist Iván Gómez para Chanel. Una mirada que se consigue en cuatro pasos: “El pigmento esférico del corrector iluminador -él utilizó Éclat Lumière de Chanel- nos ayudará a potenciar la luminosidad de la zona del contornos de los ojos y camuflar los signos del cansancio. Los tonos añiles de la paleta de sombras –Jazz Tissé– son los encargados de enmarcar y potenciar la mirada a través de un eyeliner efecto ahumado de gran dimensión. Utilizamos el tono más oscuro para crear la profundidad, los intermedios para difuminar y el más claro para iluminar. Las pestañas se visten de negro intenso con doble capa, con máscara Le Volume Noir“, explica para Glamour.es.

2. MIRIAM GIOVANELLI (DÍA)-> BLUSH EN TODO EL ROSTRO.

Una de las tendencias de la nueva temporada: el efecto primavera en ojos, pómulos y labios. Miriam Giovanelli escogió un vestido de rayas de María Escoté y un maquillaje de Chanel para la inauguración del festival. Iván Gómez, artífice del look, nos explica las claves: “El rubor en las mejillas y los labios aporta luminosidad y frescura”, nos dice, es uno de esos trucos para parecer siempre joven. De ahí que todo el maquillaje siga una misma gama cromática, la del efecto blush. Miriam lleva base de maquillaje solamente en la llamada zona T del rostro (frente, nariz y barbilla). Para sellar e iluminar el maquillaje, lleva un ligero velo de spray hidratante: “un vaporizador en forma de bruma concentrada que hidrata, protege y aporta energía a la piel (en este caso, Hydra Beauty Essence Mist de la marca)”, nos cuenta Gómez. Para conseguir el trazo de eyeliner, el maquillador ha utilizado un pincel biselado, deslizándolo desde el centro del párpado hacia el exterior manteniendo una línea recta.

3. MIRIAM GIOVANELLI (NOCHE)-> EL PERFECTO ROUGE.

Que el rojo es el color de labios favorito de las millennial es un hecho. Existen tantos rojos como mujeres, y en esta ocasión destacamos el rouge años 50 de la actriz en la alfombra roja. La clave de su intensidad está en la suma de dos productos: la barra de labios (en este caso, aplicado en formato lápiz, que aporta más precisión) y el gloss de cobertura que da ese acabado más moderno. El tono que lleva Miriam es el 762 de Rouge Coco de Chanel. Rojo intenso en sus labios y también en el look: un vestido de Danielle Carlota en una perfecta unión de moda y belleza.

4. MACARENA GARCÍA -> EL PRIMER BRONCEADO ANTES DEL SOL.

5. ALBA GALOCHA -> EL LOOK PARISIENNE.

La clave del maquillaje invisible está en estos tres pasos: una piel hidratada, un colorete fundente (“el truco experto es aplicar también unos toquecitos de color sobre los labios con el mismo producto”, nos explica Gómez) y unas cejas perfectas (con un lápiz que engrose suavemente la forma natura para enmarcar y potenciar la mirada, él ha utilizado Crayon Sourcil Nº40 de Chanel).

6. ANDREA DURO ->  EL MAQUILLAJE PIN UP.

Será tendencia en primavera. La clave del maquillaje Pin Up está en una piel afinada y sin imperfecciones. Andrea llevó un vestido Alberta Ferretti con escote asimétrico, vaporoso y muy romántico. Y el look de belleza: “Con la yema de los dedos, depositamos tres pequeñas cantidades de base sobre la frente, nariz y barbilla y repartimos hacia los contornos del óvalo con el pincel de maquillaje” nos cuenta Iván Gómez. “El otro foco del maquillaje está en los labios: delineamos previamente el contorno de los mismos con un crayon. Para un acabado profesional, utilizamos el pincel integrado en el perfilador para ir pigmentando poco a poco los labios y conseguir una mayor duración del color”.
