SAG Awards Predicted to be a Nail-Biter with Surprising Upsets in the Mix
The 2022 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards are expected to be a nail-biter, with many categories too close to call. The awards ceremony will be held on February 27th and will be broadcast on TNT and TBS. One of the closest categories is for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, with Will Smith ("King Richard"), Benedict Cumberbatch ("The Power of the Dog"), and Denzel Washington ("The Tragedy of Macbeth") all seen as contenders. Meanwhile, the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category features a tight race between Kristen Stewart ("Spencer") and Lady Gaga ("House of Gucci"). In the television categories, "Succession" and "The Crown" are both expected to be strong contenders for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. "Ted Lasso" is predicted to win in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series category. This year's ceremony will be the first SAG Awards since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and it will be a hybrid event, with some presenters and winners appearing in person and others participating remotely.
