Huwumi Summer Event!

Hello, all! Time for another lovely event focused on keeping cool in the face of sweltering heat!

For this event, we decided to go a little different, with doing Scenario Prompts! 

Prompts: July 14th, 2023 - Huwumi on Vacation/ Huwumi Making Ice Cream July 15th, 2023 - Huwumi at Summer Camp/ Huwumi Shopping for Yukatas July 16th, 2023 - Free Day! Huwumi Having Summer Fun: Your Way!

— We have two set prompts for each day, but don't be afraid to get creative! You can write for one prompt or both, or even mix and match as you please.

— For this event, works must be Huwumi centric!

All submitted works must be original. Plagiarism will not be tolerated.

— Any works found or reported to be plagiarised will not be promoted.

This week accepts both NSFW and SFW content.

— You must be 18+ to create NSFW content.

—You may create NSFW works, as long as they comply with the event guidelines and you tag them as #nsfw. We won't promote NSFW works that don't have the nsfw tag.

*If you don't wish to see NSFW content, please make sure to mute the #nsfw tag.

Dead dove/dark themes will be prohibited.

— This content includes, but is not limited to the following: loli/shota, gore, incest, and/or non-con.

We welcome any and all content: fics, fanarts, cosplays, playlists, and more! All works should include the appropriate warnings and tags.

— All NSFW posts should be tagged as #nsfw.

— Old/reposted works, as well as non-English works, are welcome!

Anyone found spreading hate or harassment towards participants, mods, or the event will be blocked immediately.

So I tend to start my fics with more of a general statement before delving more into the story and the action, but some of them are actions, like Astrid seething or stomping. I like an almost abstract idea that kind of embodies the overall theme that I can return to, or an interesting thought that sticks with the character and brings the reader into their head. And I do enjoy an interesting piece of dialogue when I can write it.

I really enjoyed this! We should do a tag game comparing the last line written to the first line or something!

my thoughts below!! 💕 @salamandersocks and i have similar tastes!! i seem to favor:

opening lines that immediately immerse me in a specific emotion or situation (curiosity, anticipation, mystery), and stuff that hints at deeper complexity and "clues ahoy!!"

i also like slightly unsettling lines ("there is a strange boy on the beach who won’t stop staring at her") for mystical stories like the mermaid!au

i also like when really specific or short lines can drop a reader IMMEDIATELY into a specific context; conversely, i like when the first line gives the reader a feeling and the second line gives a location!

i also realize i like throwing characters into emotional / interpersonal conflict immediately lmao ("... the fuck is this?" / "what are you doing here?" / "on the contrary" / "man")

i shall tag a whole bunch of people too, and anyone else who wants to do this!
