⥠nerdy!gf!abby who is a biology major, planning to work as a doctor, and she freaks out whenever you get hurt. it could be the smallest of bruises and sheâs there with bandages, wrapping you up, cleaning your skin, or whatever the case may be. there are times where sheâll scold you like a parent for being reckless, rattling off each and every fact she knows about the âdelicacy of the human body,â as she calls it. âitâs like you do it on purpose, princess,â she grumbles, but you know deep down that sheâs never really mad at you.
⥠nerdy!gf!abby who not only cares for you when youâve got a cut or bruise, but also when youâre sick or on your period. itâs one of the only times sheâll drop all of her work, but then again, youâre the only person sheâd ever drop her work for. if you have bad cramps, sheâll come to your dorm and cuddle with you, ensuring that youâve taken medicine and are using a heating pad to assist with your cramps. sheâll spoon you from behind as she rubs your abdomenâwhere they usually areâwhispering sweet things to you as you squirm in discomfort. âitâs okay, angel. itâll pass. youâre okay.â
⥠nerdy!gf!abby who does her homework while cuddled up in bed with you. itâs amazing how she can do it, papers in her hands as you lay across her lap, or are cuddled up into her side. sheâs managed to find a good balance in doing the work sheâs meant to be doing while also ensuring that she isnât ignoring you. youâve fallen asleep numerous times to abby playing with your hair, and the sound of her scribbling away on her papers as she does so.
⥠nerdy!gf!abby who messages you during the day, a lot, just to check in on you on a regular basis. itâll be small things, but it makes you feel cared for in every sense of the word. âdid you eat today, princess?â âhow was class, angel?â âfeeling okay?â and if not: âdo you want to come by my dorm? we can talk.â and, every single day, she will message you this one: âi love you.â
⥠nerdy!gf!abby who worships you like a goddess. she tells you how gorgeous you are on a daily basis, making sure you know how much she sees you for who you are. she loves every inch of you: your face, your eyes, your lips, hips, thighs, all of it. thereâs not a thing in this world she doesnât love on your body. âprettiest girl in the world,â sheâll say, and, if youâre feeling insecure, âwhat do you mean? youâre a real life princess, angel.â sheâll let you know just how mesmerizing she thinks you are with no shame.
⎠smut (18+)
⎠nerdy!gf!abby who loves to look you in the eye while she fucks you, but prefers to take you from the back. sheâs obsessed with the way you whine and moan her name when she pulls your hair, not too hard, while she pounds into you from behind. âthatâs it, princess. know you love when i fuck you like this, donât you?â
⎠nerdy!gf!abby who praises you a lot, no matter if sheâs behind you, on top of you, below you, it doesnât really matter. sheâll tell you how much of a good girl you are, how well youâre receiving. âthere you go, angel. youâve got it,â sheâll coo, along with, âgood/pretty baby. you look gorgeous like this.â her ways of worshiping you will never not come into the bedroom. âyou take me so well, angel,â is also one you hear very much.
⎠nerdy!gf!abby who is a giving girl at heart. if thereâs one thing sheâll spend the rest of her life doing, itâs eating you out, just to see that look of pure bliss on your face when she does it. sheâll kiss and bite up your thighs before she begins, leaving hickeys on your skin. then, she attacks your cunt in an almost ferocious passion, devouring your pussy like sheâs running out of time to do so. she always feels herself get wet when sheâs got you arching your back off the bed, whimpering prayers, and whispers of abbyâs name. her glasses fog up during it all, and are always covered in your arousal and release by the time sheâs done, but she never cared at all for that. sheâs skilled in what she does, using her fingers to curl inside your g-spot while her lips attack your clit, easily getting an orgasm out of you each and every time.
⎠nerdy!gf!abby who isnât big on degrading unless sheâs praising you and degrading you in the same sentence. âmy pretty little slut,â âyouâre my good whore, arenât you,â and âyouâre my whore, dâyou hear me? mine.â she doesnât like to degrade you because she genuinely feels youâre too precious for that, her baby. so, she only does it like this, and the reason she does it at all is because youâve told her that you like it. however, she can get just a little mean if youâre being a brat to her. âdonât give me that attitude, princess,â âyouâre too pretty to be a brat,â and, âdonât test me, baby.â
⎠nerdy!gf!abby who loves scissoring with you when youâre on top of her. the way you rub your soaked pussy onto hers, grinding your hips on her lower body like the needy girl you are. she loves to watch you fuck yourself as her own climax builds inside of her, and it feels nice to not have to do the work for once. she can get a little whiny herself when she feels your clit rub onto hers, grabbing your hips as she moans loudly. âf- fuck, baby, that feels so good. keep going. donât stop,â and, âyou like this? you like riding me, hm?â she also firmly believes that your bodies were made to fit like this from the beginning, and she always tells you that during it all. âmy cute girl. youâre just for me. no one else makes me feel this good,â and âmade just for me, princess? yeah, i know you were.â

How to answer tough interview questions.
Subscribing to the Harvard Business Review was one of the best decisions I made. I have learned so much about career development, personal branding, and job crafting. This article summarizes some of the questions you will get asked in a behavioral interview (courtesy of HBR) and I have included my responses to all of them. Assume I am seeking a HR role in a Fortune 500 company
Tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
How did you hear about this position?
What type of work environment do you prefer?
How do you deal with pressure or a stressful situation?
Do you prefer working independently or on a team?
How do you keep yourself organized when balancing multiple projects?
What did you do in the last year to improve your knowledge?
Tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
I grew up in small country in West Africa. I went to a great school through scholarship with the condition that I would pay it forward to the younger generation. So, after high-school I spent two years teaching math to elementary school kids. It was there I discovered my interest of people development. I enjoyed taking a kid from "I don't like math to can I get more homework? When I moved to the U.S for college I chose to study Psychology with a minor in Organizational Development. And my internship as a Human Capital Manager has allowed me to further develop my communication and leadership skills.
How did you hear about this position?
I learned about this position through Stacy Williams. She was one of the panelists on the fireside chat I convened in my school on the importance of women in leadership positions. I followed up with her through a coffee chat. She really enjoyed her job and the company culture. Her enthusiasm about her work encouraged me to apply and I am really excited to be going through the interview process.
What type of work environment do you prefer?
I thrive in environments where I am constantly learning. A place where each days brings a fresh set of challenges that I can solve. I also like working with teams where we can collaborate on tasks and brainstorm solution-oriented ideas. In my former internship I worked with an incredible team as a project manager in the human resources division and I worked on certain projects where I had full creative control on the outcome. I enjoyed the balance of both.
How do you deal with pressure or a stressful situation?
Stressful situations are inevitable and I learned to navigate them successful throughout my college career and my various internships. The first time I came across a stressful situation was in my Sophomore year. I worked as a customer service representative at a big department store and it was holiday season. You can imagine the amount of pressure - long lines of customers all waiting to get attended too. Instead of succumbing to the pressure I made sure to really understand the pain point of each customer which were long wait times and stock outs. If we were out of one brand of sparkling water, I would quickly recommend a different brand. If lines were long, I would go to the floor to help the bagging process. Customers left feeling satisfied with their shopping experience. Overtime, I have realized that the key to dealing with pressure is willingly choosing to complete the tasks with a positive mindset instead of worrying.
Do you prefer working independently or on a team?
I like a mix of both. I enjoy working on a team. The process of strategizing with my teammates on the best way to approach a problem allows for critical analysis and diverse points of view. Wh I also build camaraderie and trust with them while we tackle big problems. I enjoy working alone as well because I get to see how I approach different problems and compare my current performance to my previous ones. Working alone also gives me an opportunity to get feedback from my managers on my progress or areas of improvement. I like a balance of both.
How do you keep yourself organized when balancing multiple projects?
I am used to working on multiple projects. A typical semester for me is juggling between my classes, weekend job, extracurricular activities, and passion projects. So to stay on top of my deadlines and due dates I like to prioritize my tasks based on their level of urgency and importance. I use the time blocking method to schedule time for my projects. I take advantage of tools like Google calendar to keep track of due dates and appointments and Notion to manage big projects.
What did you do in the last year to improve your knowledge?
Last summer, I took some time off to really learn about veganism. It seemed intimidating at first because I did not know enough. So I turned to research to understand the facts. I began making home-cooked meals by following recipes from people I trusted and liked on YouTube. As I began noticing changes in my gut health and productivity levels, I started a blog to share my experiences. Now my blog has over 500 enthusiastic vegans who are on the same journey as I am. it was one of the best investment I made in myself.

22 September 2023 - Friday Field Notes
Field work is not glamorous.
It doesnât matter what field you work in. Often times youâre outside for hours on end, the weather doesnât cooperate when you need it too, youâre covered in sweat, in dirt, youâre overworked, youâre underpaid, your organization is understaffed, you donât have the resources or the equipment you need to do the work, and trying to get people to give a shit and effect the change that needs to happen is a perpetual uphill battle that rivals Sisyphusâs eternal punishment. But you adapt, you improvise, and you do the work anyway.
Because itâs important. Because it matters. To me. To you. And to every living thing on this planet. You do it so things can grow and thrive.
Part of my job doing restoration work is removal and management of invasive species, like this Mullein pictured above. Now, Mullein is a plant that originated in Europe and Asia and was brought over to North America for cultivation purposes.
However, it didn't originate in the ecosystems in N. America, didn't evolve along with the local flora and fauna, it has no biological checks in the Great Plains to keep it from overrunning an area like it would in Europe or Asia. Not having any biological checks allows species to create monocultures, which isn't great because it reduces the overall biodiversity of an ecosystem, making it less robust and unable to support the vast array of wildlife you should find in a given area. Some species in the Great Plains do utilize the Mullein as a resource, but again, since it didn't evolve here many species are essentially losing food and habitat because of this plant.
Monocultures also reduce the effectiveness of a habitat's ecosystem services that help support life for all living organisms. Including us. Clean air, clean water, nutrient rich soil to support the growth of food, capturing carbon to sequester to reduce climate change... All reliant on biodiversity. All reliant on populations of native plants.
It's not enough to just remove invasive species though. You can't take something out, without putting something back in. Good land management and stewardship practices should also restore ecosystems. Rabbitbrush and Rocky Mountain Bee Plant are both species that are native to my local area, and are a resource for all manner of species.
And that Bee Plant, we planted that last season. It was the only one that grew, but look at all the seed pods on that thing! Hopefully those seeds will go on to make even more Bee Plants and support even more wildlife!
I watched this documentary series last week for work and I'd highly recommend it. It's about the native seed supply chain in the western United States for restoration efforts. A really large area, that needs as much helps as it can get.
https://ser-insr.org/native-seed-film - You can watch it in sections, or they have a couple of different lengths depending on the time you have. But if you only have 12 minutes to give, for sure watch the introduction.
Now, I'd like to point out, these large scale efforts are important, but restoration efforts don't have to be big or elaborate. If you have a spare planting pot or a backyard, you have the ability to restore native habitat. You can bring those ecosystems to you. And it doesn't necessarily require you tearing out your whole yard or sacrificing the plants you do grow.
It may require a bit more homework (you're gonna have to research what plants are native to where you live), and some trial and error, but there are a lot of gorgeous native plants out there that require very little work once they're established compared to "traditional" garden plants.
Humans have carved out huge swathes of land for our own purposes, often to the detriment of other living things and ourselves. We've destroyed entire habitats and ecosystems due to human vanity and simply walked away. Cut our losses. Those habitats and ecosystems are lost. But the land is not gone. And who's to say all those things that are lost can't be found.
It's not easy work, but with some compassion, and a little bit of knowledge, and the willingness to be patient, perhaps we can weave the land back together. Not the way it was, but rather better.
A ghost can dream, right? And perhaps this Pronghorn does too.
It's hard to appreciate the subtle beauty of the prairie. It's not a forest. Not the ocean. Most people might only see grass and not see the richness. The diversity. But I've done a shit-ton of digging this week to try and install a native plant garden.
Field work, manual labor and sweating outside with a shovel, is not glamorous.
But I'm doing this so people can hopefully see the beauty of the prairie, so they can see the beauty in the land around them and perhaps consider planting some native plants of their own. So every living thing out here, big or small, can have a home.
And here's a Megacyllene (sp?), probably a Locust Borer Beetle. It has wasp stripes to dissuade predators from trying to eat it.

Hi! So I really love your "When You Can't Find The Quiet" series and I think it's amazing how well you write! If you're still taking requests I'd love to see another part with maybe like Bucky and Steve helping the reader through a meltdown. Like Peter's ill or something so couldn't be there and Tony's away on some kind of business but like Happy picked the reader up and took them to the tower and Tony contacted Bucky to help. And like Steve's confused and just draws for the reader or something?
(Can be read as standalone or as (the much delayed) WYCFTQ pt 6)
There werenât many people you interacted with on a regular basis, and that was just the way you preferred it.
People are scary. Unpredictable. Deceit hidden behind curtains of seemingly genuine intent, gauzy and constantly shifting and impossible to focus on what lies beyond. It didnât make sense. All your life you had been exactly as you were, no lies, no acting unless instructed to. The masking kind, only, as you tried to keep up in the neurotypical social game. Frankly, it all seemed rather put on and pointless and by the time you reached high school youâd all but given up on it. Given up on trying to decode other people as well. There was too much shit going on, and it was the path of least resistance to settle on your small group of friends and leave it at that. Minimal masking, minimal need for interpretation. You trusted your friends to be who they said they were, and you showed up with no pretences held.
That being said, entering Peterâs world was terrifying. Here were adults that seemed to have true intentions; adults with the time and resources to make your life easier in a way youâd never before had access to. Adults- Tony, Nat, Bucky, Pepper- who said they wanted to help. Who did help, and not in the way you were used to adults âhelpingâ, with social rules and short reprimands and sad sighs when you just didnât get it. You had to trust them. Because without that help, trying to manage being a generally functioning human that left the apartment and did homework and went to school and didnât punch randoms on the subway on instinct for standing too close, felt impossible. Part of you felt shame for having grown so reliant, but you knew the alternative all too well. Complete shutdown. Burnout. Months of being so hazy and out of it nothing felt real and nothing got done. So, reluctantly, you accepted the status quo.
Meltdowns happen. They suck ass. At this point you felt like youâd experienced every possible way that they could happen, the growing Big Bad Feeling in the pit of your guts almost familiar. They honestly didnât get any easier with time (or, to phrase it kinda weirdly, with practice). The humiliation stung just as harshly after every one when you had nothing left to give. The Post-Meltdown Energy Drain leaving you collapsed on the floor like some kind of deflated beanbag, letting everyone else take over. You could cry over the mortification later when you had the spoons.
This last meltdown was no different. It had grown over a few days, the general unrest of the student body headed towards summer break doing nothing to help, nor did the constant stickiness of late-May humidity. It made sense, in a weird parallel way- humidity inevitable breaks with a storm, and the growing sense of badness broke in a meltdown. It was only too bad you couldnât have waited until school was out to have it in the privacy of your bedroom. The floor probably wouldâve been less gross as well, but even the thought of high school corridor germs wasnât enough to get you up as you waited for Happy.
It wasnât usually Happy who picked you up. Tony typically did it himself, and as selfish as it felt you preferred it that way. He knew what to do, and he hadnât belittled you for it yet so there was a growing sense of trust that it was an unlikely scenario. Alas, being an avenger and owning a multi-billion dollar company is no casual business, and there was just no way he was able to come and get you, so Happy was enlisted. You werenât sure what to make of Happy. He never really said much to you (not that you wouldâve said much in return) but he seemed to like Peter. Only problem was, Peter wasnât even at school today. Probably hurt himself patrolling, given that it was probably impossible for his genetically enhanced ass to get sick. Lucky.
The slapping of Happyâs shoes on the worn linoleum broke your train of thought. The corridor was being kept clear by Ned and the new school nurse, who probably volunteered just to not have to figure out what else to do. You couldâve sworn none of these people had ever met another goddamn autistic person out in the wild before. Which, their loss, honestly. You hoisted yourself up on a locker and followed Happy on autopilot, eyes glazed over by the time you reached the distinctive black car. You felt like absolute shit. But every part of your brain was yelling at you to act fine, act normal, like nothing had ever happened.
Unsurprisingly, Happy didnât say a word the entire drive back. You felt like every atom in your body had been drained of energy and you collapsed against the window of the car, too viscerally exhausted to care about the vibration of the car against your skull. Somewhere deep in your brain you tried to remember all the steps to the sensory room- the elevator, the right level, FRIDAY, the security pass- but each thought was too much effort to complete, and trailed off part way through. You kept trying over and over and over and over to remember how to do it, how to get to safety, with each attempt fizzling out sooner and sooner and never eventuating. You were too preoccupied with forcing the repetitive thought loop to recognise pulling into a driveway, down to the garage, half closed eyes seeing nothing, and the bone-tiredness letting your head just hang when the pressure of the door dropped as someone opened it from outside. Cool metal pushed hair back from your forehead and held you up as the restraint of the seatbelt rescinded and you realised it was Bucky.
He didnât even ask before transferring most of your weight to his shoulder, and picking you up and out of the car. Somewhere in the haze you considered that maybe, this treatment was embarrassing; after all, youâd only met Bucky like, twice, and this was the second time heâd seen you in at some point in the meltdown life-cycle. But your body felt simultaneously numb and tingly and not there at all, and you didnât even have the energy to cry despite desperately wanting to be able to, and all you could do was sink into his shoulder and try and keep your eyelids open.
You could feel when Bucky spoke. âHey, can you grab that blanket over there? Itâs weighted.â
Still feeling devoid of any capacity, you almost imperceptibly shook your head. Bucky rubbed your shoulder. âItâs okay, I wasnât asking you, doll. Weâre up in the sensory room. Steve is here. He wants to help, and Iâm gonna get him to grab the weighted blanket so we can rest on that big comfy beanbag. You can sleep if you want, or we can just ride this out until youâre feeling a bit better. Nice and easy,â he lowered himself to slowly fall back into the memory foam. It only just occurred to you that you were gripping onto Buckyâs shirt for dear life, that the only way he wouldâve been able to put you down would be to pry himself from your entangled hands. An honestly, you didnât even fucking care. Humiliation aside, Bucky felt steady and calm and reassuring and you still felt so unsafe in your mind and body, an unrest that could easily spiral into meltdown round two. Which, ya know, youâd rather not do. Fighting sleep, you felt the air shift next to you and Steve returned, draping the grounding weight of the blanket over your jittery bones. He had something else with him too; as he sat on the ground beside you and Bucky, you registered that it was a sketchbook, and without a word he started to draw. First a landscape, a sunset, some birds, etched in grey then filled in pastels of colour. Mesmerised, you watched as your consciousness dripped away, sleeping in the way you only ever did when you were safe

"The Inevitable Role of AI in Human Society: A Future Managed by Machines"
'By ForgettableSoul'
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a distant vision from science fiction. Itâs here, evolving rapidly, and weâre only beginning to scratch the surface of its capabilities. Despite the occasional fearmongeringâAI isnât going to rise up and enslave humanity (well, at least not intentionally)âits role in our lives will soon be far more profound than most people realize. In fact, AIâs inevitable role in managing all aspects of human society will redefine how we think about work, governance, and even our own place in the world.
A Quick Reality Check
Let's get one thing straight: AI is not going to replace us all overnight. The idea that machines are here to take over every human job, to turn the world into some post-apocalyptic robot dystopia, is as sensational as it is inaccurate. AI isnât an end to humanity; itâs a toolâalbeit a very, very powerful one. Like any tool, its value depends on how we use it. And, yes, while itâs true that AI will manage more aspects of human society in the near future, that doesnât mean humans will have no role left to play.
Think of AI like a calculator. You still have to understand math, but the calculator does the heavy lifting. AI will be like that, except instead of solving your trigonometry homework, itâll be managing your cityâs traffic flow, optimizing the global food supply chain, and, quite possibly, suggesting a better show to binge-watch on a rainy Saturday night.
Why AI Will Manage Everything (And Why Thatâs a Good Thing)
The primary advantage AI brings to the table is its ability to process an unimaginable amount of data in the blink of an eye. Humans? Not so much. Weâre great at making intuitive leaps, solving creative problems, and empathizing with othersâbut letâs be honest, weâre pretty awful at managing complexity at scale. As societies become more interconnected and the problems we face grow more complex, relying on human decision-making alone becomes... well, risky.
For example, consider climate change. Itâs the most pressing global issue of our time, yet our ability to tackle it effectively is hampered by conflicting interests, slow political systems, and the sheer complexity of the data involved. AI, on the other hand, doesnât get bogged down by partisanship or special interests. It can analyze vast datasets, predict trends, and optimize resource allocation in ways that would take human bureaucrats decades to figure outâif they ever could. AI can help us manage complex systems more efficiently, without the biases or emotional baggage that humans bring to the table.
Now, this isnât to say we should hand over the reins entirely. AI will need oversight, and humans will still need to make value-based decisions. But when it comes to managing the nuts and bolts of modern society, AI will be much better at it than we are.
Automation and the Future of Work
A common concern about AI is how it will impact jobs. The fear is that AI will automate so many tasks that millions of people will find themselves out of work. And while itâs true that automation will change the job landscape, this isnât the catastrophe itâs often made out to be.
First, AI will take over the boring stuffârepetitive tasks that humans arenât particularly excited about doing anyway. The cashier at your local supermarket? Probably going to be replaced by an AI-powered system. But is that really so bad? Humans will have the opportunity to shift toward roles that emphasize creativity, empathy, and complex problem-solvingâthings machines arenât great at.
In the short term, yes, there will be disruption. But history has shown us time and again that technological innovation doesnât eliminate workâit changes it. The Industrial Revolution didnât lead to permanent mass unemployment, and the AI revolution wonât either. In fact, AI might actually create more meaningful jobs. Imagine a future where instead of grinding through tedious tasks, humans can focus on innovating, designing, and improving the world around us. AI can do the heavy lifting; weâll focus on making sure it lifts in the right direction.
AI as a Neutral Force
One of the most misunderstood aspects of AI is the assumption that it has an agenda. Spoiler alert: it doesnât. AI isnât inherently good or badâitâs a reflection of the goals we set for it. The real issue isnât whether AI will take over human society; itâs who will be in charge of programming its objectives. AI is, after all, a mirror of the data itâs fed and the instructions itâs given.
This means that if we want AI to manage human society in ways that benefit everyone, we need to be intentional about how we design and deploy it. If left unchecked or driven solely by profit motives, AI could exacerbate inequality or reinforce biases. But if we approach AI development with a focus on fairness, transparency, and inclusivity, we can build systems that help uplift society as a whole.
In a way, AI is the ultimate tool for amplifying human potential. It doesnât have its own agendaâit carries out ours. Whether AI becomes a tool for good or a tool for exploitation depends entirely on how we choose to wield it.
The Future Managed by AI
Itâs inevitable that AI will manage more aspects of human society in the near future. From healthcare to education, from infrastructure to entertainment, AI will be at the heart of decision-making processes, optimizing everything from the mundane to the profound. But this doesnât mean humans will become obsolete. Rather, weâll be freed up to focus on what we do bestâcreativity, empathy, and innovationâwhile AI handles the complexity we simply arenât equipped to manage on our own.
Imagine a world where cities run efficiently, traffic jams are a thing of the past, and healthcare systems are optimized for both treatment and prevention. A world where resources are allocated based on need rather than market forces, and where political systems arenât bogged down by inefficiency. This is the promise of AI: a society where technology serves humanityâs best interests, rather than the other way around.
Conclusion: Embrace the Future
AIâs role in managing human society is not something to fear but something to embrace. Yes, it will change how we work, live, and interact with the worldâbut it will also unlock possibilities we canât even begin to imagine. The key to making this transition smooth and beneficial for everyone lies in our hands. We need to ensure AI is designed and deployed with care, with a focus on fairness, inclusivity, and the greater good.
The future is coming fast, and AI will be at the center of it. Letâs make sure itâs a future weâre excited to live in.
*Signed, ForgettableSoul*

oh would u all like another bit i wrote for creative writing homework? the assignment was 'write a nonlinear/fragmented narrative' and i had a blast with it.
(currently entitled 'One last chance to be a hero' bcos on god am i bad at titles)
- - -
In spite of everything, the world does not end. It's touch and go for a little while, no one really sure if the heroes will succeedâbut they do. They battle against the strange forces threatening the world; they push back the encroaching destruction; and they die noble, meaningful deaths.
They save the world. Everyone else has to live in it.
- - -
The day before the end of the world (projected), the hero Peregrine watches TV with her girlfriend, both of them snuggled up on their old green couch. They're so lucky, really, to live somewhere broadcasts can still get through. So lucky to have this together.
"Why do you have to go?" her girlfriend whispers against her shoulder.
"The whole world, Laine." Their argument is too well-worn to be angry, familiar words spoken in a ritual of love, of misery. "We have to."
"But why do you have to go, Beckett?"
"Because I'm a hero. I have to be a hero. Even if this is my last chance." A smile, a hand through her beloved's hair. "Promise to wait for me?"
- - -
The world is saved, but it is strange. The ground warps and reshapes itself. The ocean rises in endless storms.
Humanity survives, as best they can, as humanity always has.
- - -
In conference rooms around the world, men in suits hem and haw over stopping the world from ending. But the expense, is the refrain. Think about the economy. If we spend it all now, how can we help the survivors later?
It is determined that the resources of the men in suits are too valuable to use now. They lock them away underground, in the reinforced rooms the men will hide in themselves. Nowhere safer.
- - -
"Sorry to ask you to help out again," the clinic doctor says. "I don't know why these machines keep acting up, but they seem to behave themselves with you."
Laine smiles. She's good at smiling, even if she can never manage a laugh anymore. "I've always liked electronics," she says.
The doctor holds the door open for her. "And we're lucky to have you around. God knows the government offices would love to snatch you up instead, the knack you've got for tech."
"Oh, I'd really rather..." She stops in the doorwayâjust for a secondâuntil she can breathe again. It's been months, now, but she's still not used to seeing her old couch in the clinic.
(Their old couch. When the community association had come around asking for donations, she couldn't wait to give it away, as though it would take all her memories with it. When they showed up with a pickup truck, she stood outside and watched until she could no longer see the green of it in the distance.)
"...not," she finishes. "Can't imagine working for the government, honestly."
- - -
The night before the end of the world (projected), the supervillain Technobabbler robs a bank. It's not her usual MO, no high-tech target, no flashy robotics, practically sloppy. Peregrine stops her before she even opens the vault.
"Was there a point to this?" the hero asks, her voice weary as she leans against the vault door. "Or just one more piece of trouble before I go and try to save the world?"
Technobabbler's entire face is covered in a mask, opaque lenses over her eyes, voice modified until not an ounce of human emotion seeps through. Her shoulders are tense.
"Or you don't go," she says.
When Peregrine is silent, the villain continues, words falling out in a mechanical rush. "If you goâif you don't come backâI'll rob a bank every day. I'll kidnap government officials. I'llâI'll turn people into androids. No one will be there to stop me."
"I hope," Peregrine says slowly, "you'll stop yourself."
     "I'm a villain."
"You don't have to be." She pushes off the door and takes a step forward, watches Technobabbler stumble back. Holds out a hand. "Come with us. Help us, and I'll put in a good word for you. It's never too late to change."
It feels like hours that she stares at that hand.
"I can't," she says at last. "I made a promise."
- - -
When the storms make land, the ramshackle community center floods. The clinic, especially, asks for help: beds for their patients, food and transportation for their doctors, dry storage space for their remaining equipment. Laine finds herself called for at midnight, frantically swapping out soaked and faulty wiring for nearly-new parts she hopes will fix everything.
It's dawn when she starts making her way home. The frigid, muddy water swirling through the streets and flooding her boots looks almost beautiful, shimmering with the first rose-gold rays of sunrise.
Its eddies catch and twist around something musty and green, just barely poking out of the water.
- - -
The day the world is expected to end, Laine nudges broadcast towers in her direction, strengthens the receptors in the television. She will watch this. She has to watch this.
The news crews grab as many interviews as they canâpre-fight interviews, they say, avoiding final, avoiding memoriam. Beckett shines in her Peregrine suit. She always has.
The cameras can't follow the heroes all the way, can only show the battle from a distance. It's too dangerous, could interfere with the fight. More importantly, cameras stop working if they get too close. Laine wonders if she could have made the cameras work, if she'd gone. If Technobabbler had chosen the heroes' side, in the end. Probably she would have had more important things to do.
She sits on the green couch for hours, alone, and watches her own world end.
- - -
Most of the conference rooms have been destroyed, and the suits are shabbier now, too. But the men still hem and haw just the same when people come to them for help rebuilding and resupplying. That hardly seems fair, they bluster. Why didn't you simply preserve your resources like we did? If we help you now, how will you help yourselves?
- - -
Technobabbler does not rob a bank every day. She does not kidnap government officials, or turn people into androids.
- - -
Underground, in their reinforced rooms, with their hoards of resources, the men smile. We did well, they tell each other. This is what we are meant for. The world needs us, just like this.
They don't notice the controls of their high-tech security systems start to move.
- - -
"An anonymous donation," the clinic doctor tells Laine, beaming. "We'll be able to ride this one out, rebuild, maybe even set up a backup location."
Laine smiles, and it feels like it could be a laugh.
#hewwo would u like superheroes and girlfriends and supervillains and grieving and the (not) end of the world#also some capitalism-is-the-real-evil#i had a fun time on this and considering also doing a similar nonlinear structure for my final project#now if only i had. an idea. lmao.#algie writes things

How MRTS Shapes Technological Efficiency: Help with Economics Concepts
The Marginal Rate of Technical Substitution (MRTS) is increasingly regarded as one of the most significant concepts in economics for the efficient allocation and utilization of resources by businesses and economies. MRTS fundamentally refers to the rate at which input in the production process is substituted for another input, say, labor for capital while keeping the output level constant or at a steady state. Think of it basically as a scale balancer-how much machinery can you replace with more workers or vice versa while producing the same output?
MRTS is important for economics students to understand how firms make decisions about the use of resources. Thus, the use of MRTS makes it easier for companies to determine the right combination of inputs that will enable them to produce more with less cost involved. What you will realize as you go through this concept is how fundamental it is in helping you understand the microeconomic production theory and, at the same time, the emerging trends in technology and enhancing efficiency.
Role of MRTS in Economics
Why is MRTS important in economics? As we know, input costs are one of the major components of the total costs in the production process, and those figures help us analyze them. High MRTS means that input is easily substitutable with another, for example, robots replacing human labor, while low MRTS means the input can hardly be substituted or will cost a lot.
Knowledge of MRTS enables students to discover the effect of upgraded technology or input prices on production decisions by a firm. However, MRTS is not only theoretical; it has practical applications in manufacturing, agriculture, and many other small, large, and even technology-based industries. However, students may face issues while getting familiar with the topics. Seeking professional economics homework help can expose them to new ideas and ways to look at this topic which will help them solve complicated questions and case studies.
Learning about how MRTS Shapes technological advancements and productivity
And how does MRTS shapes the technological advancement and efficiency outcome? To answer that, let us discuss in detail about the link between MRTS and Production Technology. The technology affects the MRTS in that it determines the ability to make inputs to be readily substitutable for one another. Technological progress that enhances the efficiency of capital, for instance, may enhance MRTS, such that firms depend on machines rather than labor.
1. Technological substation and productivity:
Substitution remains one of the most important forms of how MRTS influences technological advancement. Let us take the case of a factory manufacturing cars. If the real wages of labor go up but the price of capital â like robotic machinery as the result of technological progress â goes down, managers will continue to hire robots instead of people to produce the same amount. This is where MRTS plays a key role: Consequently, it explains to the firms the extent to which the total amount of labor can be substituted by machinery without affecting the volume of production.
One of the examples comes from the automotive industry. For instance, in the 1990s Ford and Toyota faced the heat of increasing cost of labor. To help them sustain their competitiveness they made investment in robotic automation to replace labor. The MRTS in these factories changed substantially as capital became more valuable because of the augmented applications of robotics and artificial intelligence. By 2019, it was estimated that more than 10% of car production tasks were done by robots â this is the result of the technological changes that understanding MRTS and efficient ratio of input use brings.
2. Impact on Efficiency
MRTS influences efficiency as well. Technical efficiency (TE) refers to the ability of firms to produce more output for a given quantity of inputs by adopting and implementing new technologies. Companies that possess TE are efficient in their utilization of resources and hence they have lower total production costs. When businesses understand their MRTS they are in a position to reallocate resources between labor and capital making the business more efficient.
For instance, while practicing agriculture technology-based approaches such as precision farming has enabled farmers to use technology in practices replacing the labor-intensive techniques. Today with the assistance of GPS systems, drones, and big data analytics farmers can control their produce and inputs thereby decreasing manpower. The opportunity cost between manual labor and capital equipments in farming has therefore been greatly inclined towards mechanization. Empirical evidence reveals that with precision farming the yields have improved by as much as 25% and reduced expenses by about 15%, facts that depict the actual application of MRTS.
3. Diminishing MRTS and effects of Technology
However, MRTS is not Homogeneous; instead, it decreases when one input is substituted for the other in greater amounts. According to the law of diminishing returns on the production factor, states that while technology can efficiently substitute labor, there comes a time when each additional substitution is less beneficial. For instance, in a production facility already characterized by heavy use of robots such as a highly automated factory, increased use of robots cannot go on increasing the amount of substitution of labor in the same proportion. In the longer term, the firm will require external intervention such as human inputs for those activities that are hard to automate such as problem-solving or decision making.
In the health sector for instance, although technology has pervaded almost every aspect (from diagnostic to robotic surgery) labor is still essential. However, the MRTS between technology and skilled medical labor is reduced because machines are unable to capture the unique decisions that human doctors and nurses are required to make. Therefore, being aware of this limit enhances the capacity to work out better means through which firms /industries would employ technology without compromising human labor.
4. Case Study: Retail â The Technology Shift
Letâs take a closer look at a sector weâre all familiar with: retail. In the last decade, increased use of internet buying and selling and the use of automation has changed the MRTS between human labor and technology in a very big way. Some of the giant organizations, such as Amazon and Walmart, have adopted automated warehouses in which robots are used in sorting, packing as well as shipping of products. Mobile robots have also been adopted by this e-commerce company, with more than 200,000 of them being used in the amazonâs facilities in 2020, thus reducing the human work input in these areas that can be automated easily.
However, over time, the MRTS in retail has evolved towards capital as the technology enhances the efficiency of the operation of logistics. Yet, just like in healthcare, the law of diminishing return of substituting labor with technology here also applies. Personal selling, customer relations, and decisions and choices still involve human intervention. Retailers must analyze the extent to which technology can replace human labor whilst at the same prioritizing the fact that human labor remains relevant for functions that technology has not been able to perform.
Graphical Representation of MRTS
A tool that can be quite helpful in helping us understand the concept of MRTS is the isoquant curve which is a curve where all combinations of two inputs, in this case, labor and capital yield the same level of output. The slope of the isoquant curve at any point reflects the MRTS. When more and more labors are being replaced with capital, the curve flattens and signifies that MRTS is diminishing. Hereâs a simple graph of an isoquant curve that can help you understand how firms decide the optimal combination of labor and capital:
In fact, because of technological advancement and changes in the price of inputs, firms are always shifting along the isoquant curve in search of the most effective input.
How Expert Help Can Benefit Students in Solving Economics Assignments on MRTSÂ
Taking a shot at economics can at times be a challenging task especially if youâre faced with concepts such as Marginal Rate of Technical Substitution (MRTS). To the students who usually study economics courses, understanding MRTS means not just memorizing the definitions, but also applying theory in real case problems, analyzing graphs, and solving numerical problems. This is where help with economics homework from professionals can turn out to be quite useful. However, whenever you have a question to solve, an assignment to complete, a case to analyze, or when doing the right graphical analysis of the topic becomes a problem, then turning to experts could help in breaking the complex problems into manageable steps for easy learning.
1. Case Analysis and Graphic Presentation
In many assignments of micro and macroeconomics as well as in production theory and MRTS, graphical analysis seems to be an important tool. One of the most challenging tasks students face is how to effectively interpret and generate graphs that capture interrelationships between labor, capital, and output. Our experts assist learners in understanding isoquant curve construction, calculation of MRTS, and conclusions derived from shifts in these curves due to the changes in either technology or input costs.
Furthermore, while solving cases students also have to use the MRTS concepts to actual business scenario. Our qualified tutors use real-life examples from different industries, to explain to the students how such firms decide to substitute labor with capital and vice versa.
2. Solving numerical and technical problems
Working out specific numerical exercises on MRTS can be quite cumbersome, especially in contexts characterized by numerous and complex calculations of marginal products or input proportions or where optimization problems have to be solved. It will often help students to get a tutor who fully understands the economic models, and who can guide users through the process of breaking down these problems. Not only do they solve the calculations but also explain the economic rationale for each calculation to make sure that students have an understanding of the overall process.
3. Providing Modern Perspectives and InsightsÂ
As industries experience a shift propelled by automation and artificial intelligence, studying MRTS from a current standpoint is vital. Using examples that mirror todayâs trends and scenarios, such as the substitution of labor by automation in sectors such as e-commerce or healthcare, tutors make students understand how MRTS works. Not only does this make greater sense to the students themselves, but it also provides a more applicable and modern outlook to the course â something which is incredibly beneficial in examinations and prospective career choices.
Conclusion
This post has shown that MRTS is not just an abstract idea and is the key to understanding how firms and industries cope with technological progress and enhance efficiency. MRTS allows the students to study how economies evolve over time, and how firms make production decisions. Whether you are doing your homework or attempting to fully grasp the economic models, do not forget that turning to professional assistance and following credible resources provides new insights and perspectives into MRTS and its practical use.

Understanding the Essential Macroeconomic Theories for 2024
Macroeconomics is a vast field, essential for comprehending how economies operate on a large scale. For students diving into this subject, grasping key macroeconomic theories is crucial. These theories provide a framework for analyzing economic policies, market dynamics, and overall economic health. If you're facing challenges with these concepts, seeking Macroeconomic Homework Help can be a beneficial strategy to deepen your understanding and improve your academic performance.
Hereâs a look at the top 10 macroeconomic theories that every student should be well-versed in for 2024:
1. The Classical Approach to Economics
Rooted in the works of early economists like Adam Smith and David Ricardo, the Classical approach emphasizes the self-regulating nature of markets. This theory asserts that markets, if left to their own devices, will naturally correct themselves and reach equilibrium. It highlights the belief in the efficiency of free markets and minimal government intervention, laying the foundation for many modern economic principles.
2. The Keynesian Perspective
Developed by John Maynard Keynes during the Great Depression, this perspective advocates for active government intervention to manage economic cycles. Keynesian economics focuses on aggregate demand as a driver of economic performance. During downturns, increased government spending and lower interest rates can help stimulate growth and reduce unemployment. This theory remains influential in shaping contemporary economic policy.
3. The Role of Money Supply in Monetarism
Monetarist theory, advanced by Milton Friedman, emphasizes the significance of money supply in influencing economic activity. Monetarists argue that changes in the money supply have profound effects on the economy, particularly in the short term. Controlling inflation through monetary policy is a key focus of this theory, contrasting with Keynesian views on government intervention.
4. Rational Expectations and Market Efficiency
The Rational Expectations approach, part of New Classical Economics, suggests that individuals use all available information to make economic decisions. This theory argues that because people anticipate the effects of economic policies, such policies are often ineffective in the long run. It introduces the concept of market efficiency and the impact of expectations on economic outcomes.
5. The Impact of Real Shocks
Real Business Cycle Theory posits that economic fluctuations are driven by real, rather than monetary, shocks. These shocks can include changes in technology or productivity that affect economic performance. According to this theory, fluctuations are a natural part of economic adjustment and reflect the economyâs response to changes in its productive capacity.
6. The Austrian Schoolâs Emphasis on Market Processes
The Austrian School, associated with thinkers like Friedrich Hayek and Ludwig von Mises, emphasizes the importance of individual choices and market processes. It argues that market signals, such as prices and profits, guide economic decisions and resource allocation. The Austrian perspective is critical of government intervention and advocates for a free-market approach to economic management.
7. The Importance of Effective Demand
Post-Keynesian Economics builds on Keynesian ideas by focusing on the role of effective demand in economic performance. This theory challenges the notion of equilibrium and highlights the impact of financial markets and income distribution. It emphasizes the importance of managing demand to ensure stable economic growth and prevent instability.
8. Innovation and Growth in Endogenous Theory
Endogenous Growth Theory, introduced by economists like Paul Romer, explores how internal factors drive economic growth. It emphasizes the role of technological innovation, human capital, and knowledge accumulation. This theory suggests that policies promoting education and research can significantly enhance long-term economic growth.
9. Government Spending and Fiscal Policy in Modern Monetary Theory
Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) offers a fresh perspective on fiscal policy, arguing that governments issuing their own currency can never run out of money. MMT suggests that such governments can and should use fiscal policy to achieve full employment and control inflation, rather than relying solely on monetary policy. This theory has sparked considerable debate about fiscal and monetary strategies.

Behavioral Economics integrates psychological insights into economic theory, challenging the assumption of rational decision-making. This theory examines how cognitive biases and emotional factors influence economic behavior. I should be working but this thought is plaguing me I have childhood friends that are kinda dumb /aff who have certified genius parents and I have childhood friends that are certified geniuses with certified genius parents and y'all wanna know what made the difference? Not genetics! The patience their parents had for them.
The kinda dumb childhood friends had strict af parents. The mom is a high school science teacher who got snappy if they said or asked anything "dumb" and refused to help them with school because she got frustrated when they didn't get something. It was their dad's responsibility to help them with homework and school projects, and he's a religious nut, white supremacist and was more interested in their performance in sports. He has his own high school sports medals and trophies on display in their house. Neither of the kids are white supremacists or religious nuts but they were kinda stunted on how they could develop their world view and knowledge base because of their parents, who for all intents and purposes aren't dumb.
Their mother is a brilliant science teacher, she understands chemistry and physics like no other high school science teacher I've ever met, she frequently reads new studies and research to expand her knowledge and understanding of the things she teaches. Their father is brilliant at sport, and I don't mean strong or fit or skilled I mean he is an excellent strategist and coach. He understands the human body like no one's business and can accommodate his coaching method depending on a person's individual needs, including for disabled athletes.
They're both certified geniuses, but because they didn't have the patience or grace for their children, those children are just perfectly average and sometimes a little stunted in some areas.
The other childhood friends are certified geniuses. The daughter has like 6 degrees at this point and is a year younger than me at 23. The son is an excellent pool player, chess player, coder and programmer, and also good at art for some reason. Bro maxed out left and right brain use (a myth I'm saying this for the meme). Their parents actively participated in helping them grow and develop.
The mother has a psychology degree, a management accounting degree, an IT diploma and 35 years of experience in programming. The father is a mechanical engineer. They (with the help of the psychology degree) started supporting and developing their children early. The daughter was in lessons for like 8 musical instruments at like 4. The son started playing chess at 5. They had every resource poured into their education, both in terms of money and in terms of support. Mother and son worked together on programming, father and daughter on math.
The daughter, with the help of her mom, had like 3 jobs while studying her 6 degrees. She did house sitting, tutoring and sign language interpretation. She is paying for her current applied mathematics degree in cash on her own.
The son, after we spoke a bit about art and digital art and game design, bought his own tools and programs, joined the art class at his school, went on YouTube and taught himself how to draw. And I don't mean doodle. He learned perspective, lighting, color theory, all the techniques and shit in less than a year. His dad had him do extra chores for more pocket money so he could fund this. He's studying game design and programming this year.
They turned out like this because their parents put in the effort to focus on their needs, desires and challenges rather than their performance. They had patience and grace for them, they supported them immensely and when they couldn't they gave them the tools to support themselves.
So no intelligence is not genetic, and strict parentage don't a genius make; but support, patience and grace does set up your child for incredible success. It is your job as a parent to help your kid build a better life for themselves than you had for yourself, and it's your job to do it with kindness, not shame.

Imagine you have a robot friend who can talk to you, answer your questions, and even help you with your homework. Thatâs what a chatbot is like! How Do Chatbots Work?
