1967
Here's a French rendition of Dylan's 'Mr. Tambourine Man.
Hughes Aufray infuses it with his unique charm.
Hey Monsieur l'homme-orchestre

Joue-moi ta chanson

J'n'ai pas sommeil
Je ne sais plus où est ma maison
Hey Monsieur l'homme-orchestre
Joue-moi ta chanson
Dans le matin pâle
Tu vas me montrer l'horizon
And as usual, here's the original by Bob Dylan, (live at the Newport Folk Festival). The song was recorded in January 1965.

Nico visits Bon Dylan, Paris 1965
“I didn't know what to expect when we met. Bob Dylan was like a God to me. He spoke a lot that first time. He arrived in Paris where he stays with the French singer Hughes Aufray. At first, he's very open, then suddenly he will go back into his shell. He doesn't put himself out. And he never tries to change anyone. He accepts or rejects them as he expects them to treat him. He is scared of being alone. He could cut himself off and write even with a lot of noise around him. During the week we stayed together, he wrote many songs – including It Ain't Me, Babe.”

Hope you're having a great day/night! Can you recommend some songs in french? I saw that you like Le chante des sirenes and my mind immediately went "good person, must trust"
🥺🥺 Im so glad you think that, liking Le chat des Sirènes IS a great judge of character I think....
I’d love to recommend some songs! They might not be similar... but they’re some of my favorites
1. All of Fréro Delavega’s discography as well as Jeremy frerot’s solo stuff, 10/10 stuff, my fav
2. La fille du capitaine- Jean Louis Murat
It’s older, my parents listened to him when I was growing up but I really like all of the songs I’ve heard from him
3. No me mires mas- Kendji Girac ft soprano
Hear me out, I know the name’s in Spanish. Kendji’s a Gypsy (that’s what he calls himself I don’t know how else to refer to him) so he sings a lot in French and Spanish and it’s a mix I find cool. And Soprano’s a neat rapper
4. Tombé sous le charme- Christophe Maé
I couldn’t really pick one song from him.. but i find it really nice and catchy
5. Oasis- Amir
He performed at the eurovision with his song “on dirait” and I love his whole album
6. Alors souris- Navii
I don’t know much about this guy but the song’s a bop
7. Reine- Angèle
That song’s GAY enough said
8. Voler de nuit- Calogero
This song’s about my favorite book “le petit prince” so I love it. It has a really nice message too
9. N’oublie pas- Mylène Farmer ft LP
What an unexpected yet iconic duo
10. Jour 1- Louane
I just think this ones really neat
Bonus- Santiago- Hughes Aufray
This is a sea Chanty that just hits different imo, but it’s probably the nostalgia talking....
That was longer than I expected sorry 😅 let me know if you listen to any of these?? There’s way more obvs these are the first ones that came to mind

Eurovision 1964 my top 16
Tumblr media
Hello and welcome to another episode of my Eurovision tops, and we go back all the way until 1964, where the contest was held on March 21st 1964 in Copenhagen, Denmark after their win in 1963. 16 countries took part and although Sweden withdrew, Portugal made its debut. Once again the voting system was changed, they could only give 5, 3 or 1 point. The winner this year was Italy with Gigliola Cinquetti and the song Non ho l’età, in one of the most one sided victories ever. Also there is no video recording of this contest and we only have audio recordings, except for some opening sequences or some clips of the Italian song. And now let’s review the songs!!.
1st Place: ITALY/Gigliola Cinquetti-Non ho l’età (Real Placing: 1st-49 points)
And this hands down it’s my absolute winner this year, she’s wonderful, the song is amazing and the lyrics are nice. Best Italian winner ever and OMG I’M IN LOVE WITH HER, and that reaction of the audience at the end is amazing. Really a very well deserved winner and one of my faves ever.
2nd Place: SPAIN/Los TNT-Caracola (Real Placing: 12th-1 point)
PORQUEEEEE TE FUISTEIS AL MAAAAAAAR. Awww this one is amazing, the music is great, and she sings this with passion and feeling. The lyrics are very sad and it’s one of my fave sing-along songs in the shower when it comes in my Spotify playlist.
3rd Place: LUXEMBOURG/Hughes Aufray-Dès que le printemps revient (Real Placing: =4th-14 points)
This particular one reminds me of Mexican mariachi music, and that makes me feel good about this one. His voice is raspy but I love it and the music is simply cute and relaxing at some point.
4th Place: PORTUGAL/António Calvário-Oração (Real Placing: =13th-0 points/last)
Can somebody explain how this song got 0 points? The song is dark, but it’s so good, his voice is superb and the lyrics are quite desperate (from what I can understand about Portuguese), surely a good debut for Portugal but maybe their luck was bad, and would remain like this until certain Portuguese man won the contest recently for them...
5th Place: THE NETHERLANDS/Anneke Grönloh-Jij bent mijn leven (Real Placing: =10th-2 points)
Why this finished so low? I LOVE IT, the music is catchy, she sings it so well and this song may have been a prophecy about what was going to arrive on the ESC the next years... anyway, nice song and a very robbed entry.
6th Place: FINLAND/Lasse Mårtenson-Laiskotellen (Real Placing: 7th-9 points)
Every time I hear this I like it more and more, has such a good vibe to it and makes me listen to it again and again, it’s one of my favorite songs of the 60′s.
7th Place: UNITED KINGDOM/Matt Monro-I love the little things (Real Placing: 2nd-17 points)
I really enjoy this song, but I don’t think this would’ve been the runner up that year. Surely it has nice music and an artist that can sing, but the song itself isn’t that good, but somehow I like it.
8th Place: AUSTRIA/Udo Jürgens-Warum nur, warum? (Real Placing: 6th-11 points)
This is IMO one of the best songs of Udo, moody, beautiful, with nice music and feeling, the orchestra makes this song better and a nice entry from Austria. Love it.
9th Place: NORWAY/Arne Bendiksen-Spiral (Real Placing: 8th-6 points)
This song has a nice swing to it, the music is good and he sings it so well, with passion and joy. Surely one of Norway’s best early efforts. The song is catchy, well performed and the atmosphere is happy (I think).
10th Place: FRANCE/Rachel-Le chant de Mallory (Real Placing: =4th-14 points)
A nice song with a nice singer, the strongest part is the last one and I like her voice throughout the song. Cute song from France.
11th Place: BELGIUM/Robert Cogoi-Près de ma rivière (Real Placing: =10th-2 points)
This one is good as well, this makes me feel calm and I enjoy a lot his voice and the music, a nice little song as well.
12th Place: DENMARK/Bjørn Tidmand-Sangen om dig (Real Placing: 9th-4 points)
Oh this one is an absolute delight to hear, the music is amazing and his voice is magical, but I have 11 songs I like more. The accordion is a nice addition for this song.
13th Place: GERMANY/Nora Nova-Man gëwohnt sich so schnell an das Schöne (Real Placing: =13th-0 points/last)
With this song I have a love-hate relationship, sometimes I like it, sometimes not. Maybe the chorus it’s what kills the song for me, because the verses are my favorite part. Also behold the song with the longest title ever in the ESC history.
14th Place: MONACO/Romuald-Où sont-elles passées (Real Placing: 3rd-15 points)
A lovely song but IMO it’s not that strong to finish that high, I love his voice and his performance and that’s all.
15th Place: SWITZERLAND/Anita Traversi-I miei pensieri (Real Placing: =13th-0 points/last)
Another good song with a good singer, but it’s kinda boring as well and uninteresting at some point. Her voice in the chorus is sweet and charming.
16th Place: YUGOSLAVIA/Sabahudin Kurt-Zivot je sklopio krug (Real Placing: =13th-0 points/last)
As it happened with the Yugoslavian song last year, I can’t remember this song at all, even though the music is lovely, it’s kinda forgettable.

V.I.P. du 07/12/2013.

Mêmes yeux en fente, même coupe de cheveux (la permanente en moins)... et même talent pour le chant autour d'un feu de camp ! Manque peut-être l'amour de l'eau quand même...
