BEIJING (AP) — Chinese tech giant Huawei, one of the biggest makers of smartphones and switching equipment, said Friday its revenue rose 9.9% in the first nine months of this year, but growth decelerated in the face of U.S. sanctions and the coronavirus pandemic.

Huawei Technologies Ltd., gave no sales figure for the most recent quarter ending in September, but growth for the first three quarters was down from the 13.1% reported for the first half of the year.

Huawei is struggling with U.S. sanctions that cut off its access to most American technology and components in a feud with Beijing over technology and security. The White House says Huawei is a threat and might facilitate Chinese spying, which the company denies.

Washington also is tightening curbs on access to U.S. markets or technology for other Chinese tech companies including telecom equipment maker ZTE Corp., video service TikTok and messaging app WeChat.

The conflict has fueled fears the global market might be dividing into competing U.S. and Chinese technology spheres with incompatible standards. Industry analysts warn that would slow down innovation and raise costs.

Executives have warned Huawei’s smartphone and network equipment sales would be affected. The company has launched smartphones based on its own chips and other components and says it is removing U.S. technology from its products.

On Thursday, the company unveiled its latest smartphone, the Mate 40, based on Kirin 9000 chips developed by Huawei.

Sales in the first nine months of 2020 rose to 671.3 billion yuan ($100.4 billion), Huawei reported. It said net profit was 8%, down from the first half’s 9.2% margin.

The company gave no details of its smartphone shipments. Sales outside China have weakened because its handsets no longer come preloaded with Google’s popular music, maps and other features. But sales growth in China, where Huawei phones already used local alternatives, have grown sharply.

Huawei’s global market share in smartphones rose to 19.6% in the three months ending in June, up from 17.7% a year earlier, according to Canalys. That was driven by strength in its home market, where Huawei had a 51% market share and sales rose 32% to 14.5 million handsets.

Huawei is owned by its Chinese employees who make up about 60% of its global workforce of 194,000. It began reporting financial results a decade ago in an attempt to appear more transparent and mollify foreign security fears.

Par rapport à son prédécesseur, le Mate 20 Pro, le Huawei Mate 30 Pro apporte de nouvelles fonctionnalités d’appareil photo, qui sont placées du côté matériel dans et à côté de la grande zone circulaire à l’arrière. Il existe au total quatre capteurs différents.

À l’avant se trouve un capteur 32MP avec une ouverture f / 2.0, qui utilise le capteur 3D du déverrouillage du visage pour prendre un selfie aussi naturel que possible. La caméra avant peut enregistrer des vidéos en FHD + à 30 ips. Il est important de savoir que l’appareil photo principal prend des photos à 10 MP et contracte quatre pixels en un – c’est ainsi que l’appareil photo 40 mégapixels est calculé. Avec le Mate 30 Pro, des photos au format RAW sont également possibles. Ce mode est recommandé si vous souhaitez éditer les photos ultérieurement. L’application appareil photo: rapide et intuitive, mais avec quelques faiblesses

L’application appareil photo facile et rapide à utiliser propose différents modes: nuit, portrait, ralenti, panorama, monochrome (noir et blanc), HDR, time-lapse ainsi que AR et Dual View, qui ont été spécialement développés pour le mode vidéo. En mode Pro, vous pouvez définir manuellement des paramètres tels que l’ISO, la vitesse d’obturation, l’exposition et la balance des blancs. L’activation et la désactivation de la prise en charge de l’IA (active par défaut) et des filtres qui sont placés en direct sur les enregistrements est juste un tap ou un glissement. La trace de l’intelligence artificielle est perceptible, surtout avec des couleurs comme le vert et le rouge, mais elles ne sont pas trop invasives dans le test.

La navigation dans l’application se fait principalement par des gestes de glissement intuitifs à travers la barre des différents modes ci-dessous. En bas à droite se trouve l’interrupteur permettant de basculer entre la caméra arrière et la caméra avant.

Le zoom peut être ajusté avec un curseur, mais il est presque impossible de le régler d’une seule main lors de la prise de vue en mode paysage. Même en mode portrait, le réglage du zoom est problématique pour les gauchers. De plus, le système automatique prend parfois plusieurs secondes – trop long – pour éditer une photo prise et l’afficher dans la galerie.

Voici comment le Mate 30 Pro fonctionne dans divers scénarios

Pendant la journée et dans des pièces bien éclairées, le Huawei Mate 30 Pro prend de belles photos. Les images convainquent par la netteté dans les moindres détails et ne révèlent presque aucun bruit d’image. La balance des blancs est généralement bonne et les tons de peau des personnes représentées sont reproduits très précisément – cela peut être vu à partir de l’analyse de la zone verte mise en évidence dans l’image ci-dessous.

L’écran couleur a également été optimisé, bien que dans certains cas le Mate 30 Pro doive faire face à un manque de saturation. Dans l’image suivante, vous pouvez voir la comparaison avec le Google Pixel 4 XL, où une représentation des couleurs plus précise s’applique, mais les tons chair semblent plus pâles.

Les prises de vue en faible luminosité convainquent et confirment les performances de Huawei et Leica dans ce domaine. Le mode spécial nuit démarre plutôt lentement et, en raison du temps d’exposition plus long, prend plus de temps et de repos lors de la prise de vue. Mais il fait également du bon travail dans un environnement complètement sombre car il expose et capture la scène beaucoup mieux.

Alternativement, il y a le mode automatique rapide, qui est plus que suffisant pour la plupart des scénarios dans de mauvaises conditions d’éclairage: même sans trépied, des instantanés à faible bruit sont pris dans l’obscurité.

Le mode automatique du Mate 30 Pro offre des couleurs plus réalistes (la lumière dans l’image ci-dessous était assez chaude), une meilleure plage dynamique et une meilleure reproduction des détails que celle du Google Pixel 4 XL. Dans la photo prise avec le nouveau pixel, la composante de bruit est également sensiblement plus élevée.

Pour les prises de vue de nuit, nous comparons le Mate 30 Pro avec le OnePlus 7T Pro. La configuration OnePlus crée des photos avec des couleurs plus riches dans l’obscurité. La richesse des détails du bâtiment représenté à une plus grande distance est meilleure chez Huawei. Ici, la façade n’est pas aussi rose qu’avec la photo OnePlus. OnePlus est plus chaud, mais aussi plus artificiel – Huawei est plus proche de la réalité.

Le téléobjectif du Huawei Mate 30 Pro surprend avec une « basse résolution ». Il offre un zoom 3x, inférieur au zoom 5x du P30 Pro, mais le changement de technologie avec l’algorithme AI-RAW est payant et avec la fonction 5x standard de l’application, le Huawei Mate le fait 30 Pro pour des clichés nets qui ne sont en aucun cas inférieurs à ceux du P30 Pro.

Il est également clair que la qualité des photos zoom dans l’obscurité ne peut pas suivre celles du capteur principal. La nuit, vous devriez éviter de grossir si possible.

Nous ne voyons pratiquement aucune perte de qualité dans le mode ultra grand-angle – bien sûr, le capteur est techniquement au même niveau que l’appareil photo principal. Les résultats sont hors de tout doute. L’autofocus est particulièrement puissant sur les objets proches et, grâce au grand angle, les met à l’honneur.

La caméra avant dans le test

La caméra frontale 32MP convainc par une photographie détaillée et presque naturelle. Ici, le Mate 30 Pro est meilleur que le P30 Pro. Lorsque vous passez de l’appareil photo principal à l’appareil photo avant, l’application passe automatiquement en mode portrait.

Avec l’effet bokeh, le Mate 30 Pro fait un excellent travail grâce à une reproduction douce de la profondeur de champ. Dans ce cas, le mode portrait n’utilise pas le téléobjectif, mais l’appareil photo principal, qui, avec sa richesse de détails, ne permet pas aux cheveux individuels de devenir « photo slush », mais les enregistre en détail.

En bref sur les vidéos: Huawei a promis une expérience vidéo améliorée et la maintient en fait grâce à un bon travail et à des résultats correspondants dans la zone d’image en mouvement. Par défaut, vous pouvez enregistrer des films en 4K avec le Mate 30 Pro – à 60 ips. La mise au point automatique fonctionne également en douceur et améliore automatiquement et intuitivement les vidéos.

conclusion

Huawei reste également au sommet de la caméra avec le Mate 30 Pro. Le Mate 20 Pro a introduit le mode grand angle, qui a ensuite été adopté par le P30 Pro. Le Mate 30 Pro combine toute la gamme de technologies de la marque, l’optimise et confirme les performances de l’appareil photo en délivrant de bons clichés à tous les niveaux dans différents scénarios. Honor V30 is scheduled to launch on November 26 in China and the leaks are teasers simply keep pouring inHonor has been constantly teasing about the 5G connectivity on the Honor V30 for a while now and had teased it multiple times in the past. The Honor V30 will be the first V-series smartphone to sport 5G. That’s not all – the smartphone also allegedly stopped by Geekbench, tipping a few key internal components, as well as posting a good score. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer also teased the V30’s powerful video shooting features. This new smartphone is said to feature a ‘cine’ lens for better video recording.

The Honor V30 was recently spotted on Geekbench which revealed few key specifications of the device. This was first reported by DroidShout. Geekbench results tip the smartphone will be running a Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G SoC clocked at 1.95GHz. This base frequency is higher than the regular Kirin 990 SoC which is clocked at 1.86GHz. The smartphone is also said to have 8GB of RAM onboard. We can also see that the device will run Android 10 out-of-the-box. We can expect it to run Honor’s Magic UI on top.

The Honor V30 bears the Huawei OXF-AN10 model number and has managed to score 3,856 and 12,221 in Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests. As for the cameras, the Honor V30 will sport a rectangular camera module at the back similar to one seen on the Samsung Galaxy M30s. This module will house a triple camera setup along with an LED flash. The Honor V30 is also teased to sport a new camera Matrix algorithm and sport a cine lens just like the one seen on the Huawei Mate 30. This should help give the Honor V30 an edge when it comes to video recording.

Previous rumours suggest that the smartphone will sport a 60-megapixel primary camera and a dual-camera selfie setup positioned in the hole punch of the display. Renders of the upcoming Honor V30 had also leaked out revealing the complete design of the smartphone including the hole-punch display and the side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

With the product launch a few days away, we won’t have to wait for long to find out more about the Honor V30. However, it’ll be interesting to see if the company launches this smartphone in India.

Huawei a publié un nouveau smartphone

Les Mate 30 et Mate 30 Pro seront disponibles en Europe en fin d’année. Attendu au tournant, Huawei avait donné rendez-vous à la presse à Munich pour la présentation de son nouveau smartphone, le Mate 30. En réalité toutefois, ce ne sont pas un mais deux nouveaux modèles que le constructeur chinois a présenté, lesquels se distingueront principalement par leur écran et leurs appareils photos. Des performances de haut de gamme Plus grand que ses concurrents, le Mate 30 affiche une taille record de 6,62″ (6,53 pour le modèle Pro). Il se positionne un cran au-dessus du P30, l’actuel porte-étendard de la marque. Destiné avant tout aux technophiles, le Mate 30 dispose d’une fiche technique de modèle haut de gamme avec son écran OLED de très haute résolution (2400×1176), sa batterie haute capacité (4200 et 4500 mAh, selon le modèle), son processeur Kirin 990 survitaminé et son appareil photo performant. Un smartphone taillé pour la photographie Côté photo, Huawei innove à nouveau avec un triple capteur qui comprend un capteur de 16 mégapixels ultra-large (f/2.2), que l’on utilisera pour immortaliser les paysages, un capteur de 40 mégapixels (f/1.8) pour la capture de portraits et un capteur de 8 mégapixels (f/2.4) taillé pour le zoom, avec une stabilisation optique. Celui-ci sera capable de zoomer jusqu’à x3 et jusqu’à x30 en zoom numérique. Le résultat en photos est plutôt impressionnant même s’il faudra vérifier tout cela par nous-même. Le Mate 30 Pro va encore plus loin avec deux capteurs de 40 mégapixels (f/1.8 et 1.6), pour le grand angle et le capteur portrait, et un capteur de 8 mégapixels (f/2.4) pour le zoom. Côté vidéo, le smartphone sera capable de filmer en 4K à 60 images par seconde, le tout en HDR, avec un véritable effet bokeh et une stabilisation optique complète. Pour la première fois, Huawei promet aussi la possibilité de filmer de nuit, pour un résultat qui s’annonce exceptionnel. Huawei positionne son Mate 30 Pro comme un modèle particulièrement innovant. Le smartphone dispose d’un écran qui couvre la quasi-totalité de la face avant mais également des côtés, jusqu’à atteindre un angle record de 90 degrés. Exit donc le bouton de contrôle du son, qui disparaît au profit d’un nouveau contrôle tactile. En tapotant l’écran à l’endroit précis où était situé le bouton de contrôle du volume, l’utilisateur fait apparaître la barre de son. L’innovation ne s’arrête pas là puisque le modèle Pro est également certifié IP68 et sera ainsi résistant à l’eau. Il introduit également un nouveau chargeur rapide (40W) et supporte le chargement rapide en sans fil également (27W – soit pratiquement aucune différence avec les chargeurs rapides traditionnels). Parmi les autres innovations présentées, on évoquera brièvement le face-tracking, qui permettra à l’utilisateur de faire basculer l’interface du smartphone selon l’angle avec lequel il regarde son écran, le contrôle gestuel à distance, qui permettra notamment de répondre à un appel ou de réaliser une capture d’écran sans devoir toucher l’écran (pratique lorsqu’on cuisine!), et l’interface HiCar, copie presque conforme de CarPlay, qui créera un lien entre la voiture et le téléphone. Côté connectivité, Huawei promet une connectivité 5G – jusqu’à 2x plus rapide de celle du Galaxy Note 10 de Samsung, le support de deux cartes SIM et le support de toutes les fréquences 5G existantes. Ceci étant dit, le modèle 5G ne devrait pas être proposé partout en Europe mais uniquement dans les pays où la 5G est déjà lancée. Livré sans Google

S’il embarque Android, le nouveau smartphone de Huawei n’intègre pas les Google Live Services. Un gros point noir pour le constructeur, en plein bras de fer avec l’administration de Donald Trump. Dans la pratique, cela signifie qu’il ne sera pas livré avec la suite logicielle de Google. Pas de Play Store, de Google Maps ou de Gmail préinstallé donc, mais des alternatives made by Huawei. Les acheteurs pourront également installer des applications récupérées sur des boutiques d’applications tierces, pas disponibles sur la boutique d’applications de Huawei. Huawei est resté très vague sur la question, laissant clairement sous-entendre que la situation pourrait changer. On notera d’ailleurs que le Mate 30 sera lancé en Europe avec un peu de retard sur les autres pays puisqu’il faudra attendre la toute fin d’année pour pouvoir mettre la main dessus. Le Mate 30 sera vendu en magasin 799€, tandis que son grand frère, le Mate 30 Pro, sera vendu 1099€. Pas de différence côté performances pures puisque les deux modèles embarqueront le même processeur et 8 Go de RAM. La mémoire doublera toutefois pour le modèle Pro, passant de 128 à 256 Go.

What’s the best smartphone? This list focuses primarily on high-end flagship devices, but the best flagship smartphones don’t have to be the most expensive.

Value plays a huge role in this list, and there’s a mid-range device here that’s well worth considering for more budget-minded buyers.

In fact, the top three phones in this list aren’t the top flagship models everyone expects from Apple or Samsung.

It would be much easier to rank these smartphones based purely on specs and the number of features each offers, but that would mean the most expensive smartphones would always rank in the top three, and they’re not the first phones I’d usually recommend.

One of the biggest factors for me when ranking and recommending a phone is its value in relation to its specs and features. That typically leads me to recommend phones that may have fewer features or a less sleek design than the ultra-premium models that command four-figure price tags.

Indeed, just because a phone has everything and the kitchen sink doesn’t mean you have to buy it – it’s just an option for those who might have a larger budget. The same logic applies to pretty much anything you can buy. Do you pick the most expensive model of everything you buy? If you don’t, the top three will suit you well. If you always go with the top of the line, then you probably already know the phone you want.

20. BlackBerry Key2

The BlackBerry Key2 is arguably the most unique smartphone on this list because of its physical keyboard. The trade-off here is you sacrifice some screen space to make way for the keyboard. That might appeal to some BlackBerry enthusiasts, but not so much to regular smartphone users.

Unfortunately for LG, the new LG G8 at its $820 price places it pretty low on this list. It’s comparable to the $750 Galaxy S10e, but without the sleek design and with little to show for the extra $70 you’d spend.

Still, it’s a solid device that checks all the right boxes, but doesn’t excel in any particular thing.

You can find the LG G8 for $700 at Best Buy and B&H Photo, which is what the LG G8 should have been priced at to begin with. I wouldn’t recommend buying it for its full price tag from carriers, however.

Motorola’s Moto G series of smartphones has been our favorite mid-range option ever since they were first released back in 2013, and they’ve only been getting better every generation. Last year’s Moto G6 was a fantastic device that made me forget I was using a $250 phone, and not one that cost more $800.

The new $300 Moto G7 comes with updated specs, design, and even a few rare, out-of-style features that many smartphone users still value.

17. Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are now more than 2 years old, but for $450 and $570, respectively, they’re still worthy of your attention.

Apple phones generally offer better apps and a better user experience than their Android counterparts, and the iPhone 7 is no different. The support you get from Apple if something goes wrong is superior to what you get from Android device makers. And unlike on most Android phones, with iPhones you can always get the latest software updates straight from Apple as soon as it releases them.

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus offer some compelling features, including water-resistance, great cameras that perform well in low light, and powerful processors. The phones also work well with other Apple products, including the company’s wireless headphones, AirPods.

The iPhone 7 Plus’ dual-lens camera system takes pictures with a professional-looking “bokeh” effect, which blurs the background behind your subject. Additionally, the system allows you to zoom in on your subjects; its second camera offers a 2x optical zoom.

Unlike the digital zoom feature found in other cameras, an optical zoom allows you to enlarge an image of your subject without sacrificing picture quality.

16. LG V40

The LG V50 was recently announced, but there’s no official release date in the US. If you’re interested in the V40, you might want to wait a little to check out what the V50 has to offer.

The LG V40 was higher up on the list, but since its high price tag hasn’t changed and there are great phones available for significantly less, it’s dropped a few spots.

The LG V40 is a great smartphone with all the usual high-end Android phone features, and it comes with a triple-lens rear camera system that offers users the best versatility in taking photos.

You get a regular wide angle lens, LG’s signature ultra-wide angle lens, and a dedicated optical zoom lens. Meanwhile, phones with dual-lens systems, even LG’s G7, offer you either a zoom lens or an ultra-wide angle lens on top of the regular wide-angle lens that almost all smartphones come with.

The LG V40 is also a top choice for audio enthusiasts that appreciate good sound, as it comes with a higher-quality amplifier inside that makes music sound better through wired headphones.

The Razer Phone 2 is marketed as a “gaming” phone, mostly because of its unique display. The Phone can refresh its screen 120 times a second; most phones, by comparison, only refresh their screens 60 times a second. The Phone’s faster refresh rate allows it to offer super smooth gameplay.

The large borders above and below the phone’s screen may look out of step with the borderless designs of other recent phones. But hiding beneath those borders are the loudest and best speakers we’ve heard on any smartphone.

The iPhone 8 comes with the now-antiquated iPhone 6-generation design. But it does have a refined glass-and-metal case, a superb camera, and strong performance. With it, Apple supports both wireless and fast charging – features that Android phones have long offered but had been missing from previous iPhones.

13. Huawei Mate 20 Pro

Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro is the latest in the company’s lineup, and it’s pretty clear why so many people around the world like Huawei smartphones – at least at the high end of the scale.

What we have here is a beautiful device that pleases in many areas, and the US smartphone market is worse off without its wider availability – although you can still buy and use the Mate 20 Pro in the US.

12. Samsung Galaxy S9

The Galaxy S9 is a superb smartphone with almost every feature under the sun. It sports the latest specs, best display, one of the best cameras you can get on a smartphone, a gorgeous design, wireless charging, water resistance, and several other features that make the Galaxy S9 a fool-proof buy.

So why doesn’t it get the top spot on the list? Other smartphones, including its bigger sibling the Galaxy S9 Plus, come with dual-camera systems. On top of that, Samsung’s own version of Android isn’t for everyone.

10. iPhone X

Apple doesn’t sell the iPhone X anymore, but it’s still widely available at carrier stores for $900.

The iPhone X may run on last year’s A11 chip, but many iPhone X users aren’t noticing much of a difference in performance compared to the iPhone XS with the newer A12 chip. That’s perhaps thanks to iOS 12 and the extra optimization it comes with.

In some respects, it’s actually a better deal than the new iPhone XS, which costs $100 more for few significant upgrades. But if you’re going to pay $900 for a smartphone, those who can afford to might as well spend the extra $100 to get the newer model.

9. Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

The Galaxy S9 Plus is mainly just a bigger version of the regular Galaxy S9, but it has a dual-lens camera system where the secondary lens serves as a 2x optical zoom lens. The Plus model also comes with more RAM than the regular S9, which helps with overall performance speed.

The Galaxy S9 Plus is among my top smartphone picks because it’s a clear example that you don’t need to spend $1,000 – the price of an iPhone XS – to get a top, premium, full-fat smartphone experience. The Galaxy S9 Plus checks off all the boxes and I’d easily recommend it to anyone looking for a new smartphone.

8. iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

The $1,000 iPhone XS and $1,100 iPhone XS Max deliver the best of Apple design, performance, and features. They’re technically the best iPhones you can buy, but their position on this list is decided by their high price tags.

If you’re willing and able to spend a minimum of $1,000 on a smartphone, then go for it. Otherwise, I think four figures for a smartphone is too much, especially when it doesn’t come with things like a fast charger, or even a USB-C adapter dongle for your wired headphones.

Both phones have exactly the same features. The main difference is the screen and body size, and that’s up to you whether you prefer smaller or larger phones.

7. Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The Galaxy Note 9 is among best Android smartphone that Samsung has released. It has a large 6.4 inch display that looks fantastic with Samsung’s technology. And combined with its high-powered specs, it’s a veritable productivity and multitasking machine. I’ve also recently come to appreciate the S Pen stylus for taking notes at the spur of a thought and for keeping me organized, and it gives me more precision for tasks that I’d usually reserve for a computer.

At $1,000, it’s priced for enthusiasts and power users rather than the casual smartphone user. But if you’re comparing the Galaxy Note 9 to another $1,000 smartphone – the iPhone XS – it’s a better phone.

6. Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL

The $800 Pixel 3 and $900 Pixel 3 XL have the best smartphone cameras in the business, hands down.

They also run Google’s vision of Android, which is clean, well-designed, and receives Android updates the moment Google releases them. That’s something few Android phones can boast.

The new Pixel 3 phones also come with dual-lens selfie cameras – one of the lenses takes regular selfies, and the other takes ultra-wide angle selfies.

The new Google phones are a little more expensive than I’d like them to be, which wouldn’t actually be a factor had Google’s Nexus devices of yore been so much cheaper.

The only differences between the two phones is the screen size and front design – the Pixel 3 has a more traditional smartphone design, while the Pixel 3 XL has a notched design. The Pixel 3 XL’s notch is unfortunately the worst on this list, but as with every other notch, you get used to it and forget about it pretty quickly. It would be a shame if you ruled out the Pixel 3 XL just because of the notch.

5. Galaxy S10

The Galaxy S10 is an overhaul in design, performance, and features, all while maintaining the Samsung smartphone formula that makes its phones great.

It’s a fantastic smartphone that comes with more features that those higher up on this list, and I’m especially fond of its ultra-wide camera.

As good as the Galaxy S10 is, it doesn’t pose the best value compared to the Galaxy S10e and other smartphones that come higher on the list.

3. iPhone XR

The $750 iPhone XR is more appealing than its more expensive counterparts, the $1,000 iPhone XS and $1,100 iPhone XS Max.

In almost every respect, you’re getting the same experience as the iPhone XS series, save for slightly larger bezels, and a lower-resolution LCD display compared to a superior OLED display, and a dual-lens camera. But, in my mind, all that extra stuff from the iPhone XS series isn’t worth an extra $250.

At $750, the iPhone XR is a great value for an iPhone with such a large screen and latest specs. It’s just a shame that there’s no iPhone X-style phone under $700 for those who like smaller displays.

2. Galaxy S10e

The Galaxy S10e poses the best value in the latest Android or Apple smartphones above the $700 mark, period.

It runs on the same processor as the Galaxy S10 that starts at $900, has a brilliant screen, a great camera, an ultrawide camera, a fingerprint sensor that works better than the in-display sensor on the Galaxy S10, and it’s $150 cheaper than the Galaxy S10.

Anyone who wants a small-screen Android phone, or simply one of the best values in smartphones, should put the Galaxy S10e high up at the top of their list.

1. OnePlus 6T (but you might want to wait a little while)

A new OnePlus device is expected to be announced soon. It might be worth waiting a little while to see what OnePlus comes out with before buying the OnePlus 6T.

The OnePlus 6T doesn’t come with a lot of the features that other phones in this list have, like wireless charging, official water resistance ratings, dedicated zoom or ultra-wide angle lenses, or an ultra-sharp 1440p display. And yet, it earns the top spot on this list.

That’s because it does the things it does so well, like looking good, taking photos, running Android and apps, charging quickly, and lasting a long time on a single battery charge. And it does all those things for a base price tag of $550 compared to the $750+ price tags of smartphones above.

I never missed any of the extra features from other, more expensive top smartphones while using the OnePlus 6T. If I were to buy a new smartphone, this would be the one for its excellent design, performance, and value.

The OnePlus 6T is also the first OnePlus phone to be sold by a US carrier – T-Mobile – and it’s also the first OnePlus phone to be compatible with Verizon’s network.
