It is very famous amongst the Shias that Janabe Zainab (sa) never missed her Tahajjud. Despite going through all the difficulties, she would take out some time and always offer her prayers, even in the midst of the event of Ashura. Now the question is, how many Shias have taken heed on this point and prayed Salat Al Layl in the remembrance of Janabe Zainab (sa) or Imam Hussain (as)?! We all have read / heard that Imam Hussain (as) spent his Shab-e-Ashura in Duas, Namaz and Quran BUT do we seriously consider such narrations important? Let's at least make a habit of reciting Namaz-e-Shab once a week, if not daily? How about on a weekend? Or a Shab-e-Juma? Or any other day that is convenient for you? Hazrat Abdullah Bin Mas’ud (R.A) Narrated:

I asked the Messenger of Allah (S.W.T) “Which practice is most preferred by Allah (S.W.T)?”.

The Messenger of Allah (S.W.T) replied “Offering Prayer within the prescribed time”.

I asked again “what is the next most preferred practice by Allah (S.W.T)?”

The Messenger of Allah (S.W.T) replied “to do good deeds to and for your parents”.

I asked again “what is the next most preferred practice by Allah (S.W.T)?”

The Messenger of Allah (S.W.T) replied “To struggle in the way of Allah (S.W.T)”. (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hazrat Abu Umaamah (R.A) Narrated:

“The Messenger of Allah (S.W.T) said”: When a person stands up for prayer the doors of the Heavens will be opened for him and all the obstructions between Allah (S.W.T) and him will be removed and the hoors (women of paradise) will be there to welcome him. However this will only last until the person praying begins to unnecessarily clear the nose and throat.” (Tabarani)

Allah (S.W.T) has said in the Noble Quran:

“I have not created the jinn and humankind for any other purpose except that they should worship Me.” (Noble Quran 51:56).

It is clear from the verse of Noble Quran that the purpose of our birth and of our life is no other than that of the worship of Allah (S.W.T).

Salat

Salat is the obligatory Muslim prayers, performed five times each day by Muslims. It is the second Pillar of Islam.

God ordered Muslims to pray at five set times of day:

Salat al-fajr: dawn, before sunrise

Salat al-zuhr: midday, after the sun passes its highest

Salat al-‘asr: the late part of the afternoon

Salat al-maghrib: just after sunset

Salat al-‘isha: between sunset and midnight

All Muslims try to do this. Muslim children as young as seven are encouraged to pray.
