(I don’t understand tumblr or social cues so idk if u want ppl to add on but I’m rewatching and I’ve thought about this a lot) As a lesbian who dealt with a ton of comphet as a kid, I also really want to empathize that Harper’s crush on Justin was almost always a performance. Like I honestly feel like she just decided one day to have a crush on Justin which is something a lot of lesbians do (we’ll basically pick men to like idk how to explain it to nonlesbians) and Justin would be an easy choice bc he’s Alex’s brother. Anyways, every time she shows attraction to Justin, it’s almost obsessive or because she seems to think people expect it of her. The one episode where Justin gets hit by Cupid’s arrow and actually likes Harper back is so ironic to me because she’s not at all into it. And she literally states that her problem isn’t that it’s not actually him. I forget the exact quote but she basically says that she likes Justin because it’s never returned; she likes that he’s unattainable. Additionally, the one time where something romantic seems to be happening with Justin and Harper, she’s super chill and barely even shows romantic feelings for him. All the other times when she does or says something creepy about him I feel like she’s looking for attention (possibly from Alex) or doing what’s expected of her. One last thing: it’s actually pretty common for sapphics to get a “crush” on the brother of the girl they’re actually into. I think the song “Stella’s Brother” fits Harperalex really well. Okay brr ADHD brain anyways, if you think about it Harper’s “crush” on Justin brings her closer to Alex because they get to talk about it; also, Justin and Alex notably look pretty alike so she could find comfort in that. Idk if this makes sense my mental health meds keep being jerked around and I’m exhausted but I hope it did.
