It's Working Out
We have spent a lot of time of late discussing the disruptors, the upstart firms that upset the apple cart of people’s comfort. They challenged old ways of doing things, introducing new ways and means of meeting consumer needs and wants. They are the innovators.
But perhaps the greatest disruptor of our time was not an innovator at all, but merely a force that set the stage upon which everyone, from person to firm, had to react. Some were able to, while others were not. Some were willing to, while others were not.
That force of course, was COVID, which pushed us all to the brink. Here we are, three and a half years since it brought the world to its knees. Narrowing our focus to only companies, we can categorize them today as having thrived, survived, or died. Often there was no rhyme or reason, as some firms were simply in a good place at a bad time.
But even if they were in either of the first two categories, there was and is no guarantee now that success would be theirs. The big disruption is over, and it is back to doing business much the same as it was before, but with evolutionary twists and turns along the way.
Take, for example, Peloton and Lululemon, two companies that thrived during COVID, and are now forging a partnership. Seemingly complementary (although as we shall see, also competitors), it made sense that fitness hardware would enjoy the company of fitness apparel. After all, we were working from home, and doing pretty much everything there. Sales of Peloton stationary bikes soared. Sales of Lululemon clothing did likewise. Hand, meet glove.
Tumblr media
But that’s where the comparison abruptly ends. Homes only need one stationary bike, and at $2500 for a typical model, plus another $45 a month for the workout subscription service, it became an expensive proposition. Once we started returning to more normal life, Peloton sales plummeted, and they were bloated with unsold inventory.
Lululemon, though, continued the trend line of the pandemic, thanks in large part to the broader fashion statement of athleisure apparel. In other words, while you can’t take your stationary bike with you out of the house, it is fine indeed to wear yoga pants wherever you go. Apples, meet oranges.
It must be noted that Peloton and Lululemon were not exactly best buddies through all of this. While Peloton had its own in-house line of fitness apparel that competed with Lululemon, it was Lululemon’s acquisition of Mirror in June 2020 that sparked controversy. The $995 and up hardware device offered users fitness routines while narcissistically looking into a huge reflective object. Lululemon accused Peloton of pilfering workout routines to sell via its subscription service. It wound up in court; the two firms settled last year.
Lululemon did not enjoy success with Mirror; it wound up writing off the acquisition, which had cost them $500 million. While clothing sales have been brisk, Mirror was a thorn in their side. Meanwhile, Peloton has struggled mightily the last couple of years, its stock price tracking like an asteroid to earth. Thankfully, new leadership of late has seen fit to break away from the COVID business model, exploring new partnerships and distribution channels.
For example, Peloton inked a deal with Hilton, and now a Peloton bike appears in every hotel under the Hilton umbrella. That’s genius, because it allows for risk-free product trial. They also partnered with Amazon and Dick’s Sporting Goods for online and in-store sales and distribution. How silly it was of Peloton to think it could survive long-term doing all of its selling. Furthermore, they have realized that, while hardware is a necessary component in their future, it is the subscription service that is the cash cow that can keep giving.
The new partnership between the two means that Lululemon will produce all Peloton-branded exercise apparel. Lululemon also agreed to cease production of its Mirror-related. Two COVID success stories who found themselves enemies have effectively kissed and made up.
And I am betting that both will thrive under this new arrangement and their other related corporate decisions. While I have no experience with Lululemon products nor Peloton, I secretly wish for the latter to rebound, if only because I own a lot of other fitness hardware. But I also know that you have to actually use that hardware, and equipment from stationary bikes to treadmills and weight benches often wind up as expensive clothing racks at home.
Let this new marriage serve as example that there are always new ways to solve problems, which, in this case, were discovered in the post-COVID era. While both found themselves the darlings of the age, neither could sustain their businesses completely. Together, though, this might just work out.

Top 10 affordable activewear brands in India
Tumblr media
Have you recently started your workout regime? We are sure it must be really exciting for you to begin this incredible journey. However, everyone commits the error of not dressing appropriately for exercise. You cannot exercise in your usual home track trousers, whether you jog, practise yoga, lift heavy weights, or engage in any other type of exercise. Exercise necessitates special clothing that enables comfort and adequate stretching during the entire regimen. Trust us, wearing proper sports clothing makes a big impact. However, choosing the right type and brand of fitness apparel can be difficult, especially if you are new to the industry. But don't worry, you've got our back! To make your fitness journey fantastic, we have brought ten exceptional sportswear brands. Do you want to delve deeper? So, let's get started!
AlStyle: One of the top Indian sportswear companies is AlStyle, which offers all the necessities for a workout. A fitness regimen requires deos and handkerchiefs, available with workout clothing for both men and women. Given that there are many more companies selling these necessities, you may be wondering what makes this brand so special. Yes, you can acquire this from other sources, but not at the same price. Their pricing range begins at 199 INR and includes additional discounts and special offers. In conclusion, you can purchase a high-quality suit for less money. Then, you get to completely overhaul your clothing! How about wearing fashionable olive-green cotton rich shorts one day and black workout track pants the other day? Pair it with a flexible dri-fit t-shirt or a vest - you can now work out in vogue with a different outfit every day.
Satva: The origin of this brand is indicated by its name. Yes, it is an Indian company that was created to meet the needs of female fitness enthusiasts. Satva only uses organic cotton to make its athletic apparel. In other words, it doesn't include any hazardous compounds like bleach or sulphur. From ladies tights to vibrant t-shirts – they have everything to meet the demand of dashing women these days. You can buy a pair of outfits for about 1500/- INR from this brand which makes it pretty affordable.
HRX: Do you enjoy Hrithik Roshan's movies? If so, you'll undoubtedly adore his active brand. Since everyone is aware of his obsession with fitness, his collection of sportswear can hardly be incorrect. His company, HRX, produces workout wear for both sexes. There is everything you need there. You name it; they have it: T-shirts, track pants, vests, and gym joggers. A suitable investment for items that let your skin breathe is the estimated price range, which ranges from 500 to 2000 INR.
Creez: This sportswear company makes high-quality, stylish yoga wear to support people through their training comfortably and stylishly. The clothing line caters to both males and females, and the best part is that it also makes clothes that can be worn casually. It was designed with the needs of young people in mind. However, their active pro-collection is a tad on the pricey side, but reviews state that the garment does full justice to it
Fiber Fit: Fiber Vests and T-shirts are Fiber Fit's main areas of expertise. You might be wondering what makes this brand so unique in that case. After all, workout T-shirts are sold by every company. The motivational slogans of Fiber Fit T-shirts and vests set this brand apart from the rest. And you know what the best part is? The price is only 400–600 INR. Purchasing an item that serves as a constant motivation throughout exercise at such a discount is really alluring. Additionally, the company is known for making durable clothing.
Skult: This athleisure brand is a celebrity-approved brand. You may see a lot of B-town stars slaying in their Skult attire. In contrast to other businesses, they offer some incredible styles and patterns for activewear. This brand offers a selection of men's tracksuits, drop crotch joggers, thumbhole t-shirts, and other trendy clothing that not only makes exercise enjoyable but also intriguing at the same time.
Aesthetic Nation: As the name goes, this brand aims to add aesthetics to the monotonous sports wardrobe. This brand's selection is excellent, offering a wide variety of shorts for men, track pants, T-shirts, hoodies, and even vests at prices ranging from 500 to 1100 INR. This brand's clothing frequently has quick-drying fabric, which wicks away moisture for maximum comfort and movement.
Alcis Sports: Alcis Sports offers more than simply yoga and workout apparel. You may get a variety of workout attire for sports like jogging, yoga, weightlifting, and even on-ground activities like racquetball, tennis, swimming, and other activities. This brand is really appealing because you may get your clothing item personalised here. They are also easier to handle because of the lighter weight of their clothing. The pricing range is typical, with clothing items costing between 400 and 2200 Indian rupees.
Athlos: Found by an Indian, this brand understands how culture plays an important role in one’s fashion. They have thought patterns that inspire an active lifestyle, maintaining both style and culture. The entire range with them is minimalistic for both men and women. The solid colour range makes this brand quite unique and classy.
SilverTraq: SilverTraq offers technical and fashion-forward active wear for both males and females. It is well-known for its anti-odour, stretchable and sweat-wicking outfits. Based in Mumbai, this brand ships all over the globe. They have numerous track pants, vests, shorts and t-shirts to make you look elegant when you work out.
Conclusion
Are you prepared to upgrade your wardrobe with fashionable activewear at a reasonable price? After careful consideration, we wholeheartedly recommend you choose these brands since they are strong, comfortable, and of good quality. The order of the list is determined by our ratings. It is encouraging to discover that many brands offer options for plus sizes. In India today, fitness is taken very seriously. Everyone aspires to constantly look and feel their best. Let's go to work and embody "you" in durable activewear.

3 Reasons You Should Try HIIT Workouts
Whether you’ve tried or overheard someone mention HIIT workouts in the past, it might be time to revisit this fitness trend that’s here to stay. Known as high-intensity interval training, this workout method can challenge your body in new ways. The system typically involves switching between intervals of intense exercise followed by lower-intensity intervals or recovery periods. Low on time, experience or space? Lace up your cross training shoes and try this fitness style.
Tumblr media
HIIT Can Be Done Any Time and Anywhere HIIT workouts are great for anyone who feels they don’t have enough time to exercise regularly. In mere minutes, you can turn up the burn and send your heart rate skyrocketing. You don’t need much equipment or special attire to get through a killer HIIT workout either. Add your favorite athletic leggings or track pants to your performance shirt and sports bra for an ensemble that’s ready for anything. A gym is not a requirement for this free exercise strategy as it involves bursts of cardio and strength training that can use just your body weight at any location. One session can take you 10 minutes or triple depending on your fitness goals, making it an easy addition to your current regimen or as your main effort. HIIT is especially great for those who are traveling or have limited resources yet still want to bust out an effective workout. HIIT Can Support Different Athletic Levels Because of HIIT’s adaptability, you can enjoy it regardless of your athletic experience. If you’re new, try starting with three to four intervals and slowly increase your efforts as you build your stamina and strength. It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional athlete or just starting to develop a workout routine, HIIT can support your body and help you increase your performance as you diversify your intervals. Be sure to invest in a pair of cross training shoes from an innovative brand. These shoes should provide the support you need to feel stable while being flexible enough to keep up with your swift movements. Seek out details like responsive cushioning and breathable mesh to help you stay cool while pushing yourself to the limit. HIIT Can Challenge Different Areas As you experiment with different HIIT sequences, be sure to get creative and consider your overarching fitness goals because you can tailor your HIIT routine to match. For example, if you want to enhance your stamina out on the basketball court, you might try incorporating high knees or burpees into your intervals. This can result in a longer workout that pushes your cardio levels. Whatever your primary goal, HIIT workouts can help you achieve it. You have full control over the muscles you target and you can quickly adjust the length or rep counts within your workout. Try a new circuit when you get bored or add a new fitness goal to work different muscles and keep your mind and body engaged. About Reebok Known as one of the best fitness brands in the world, Reebok continues to shape the industry with their premium footwear and athletic apparel. The company pushes the envelope with dynamic designs and innovative materials to level up your performance without sacrificing quality or comfort. You can easily lead an active lifestyle with their diverse collection that features everything from gym shorts to walking shoes that provide unparalleled support. Their online resources offer tips and tricks on how to improve your workouts, wellness and wardrobe with ease. It doesn’t matter if you need to create an ensemble for the gym or weekend errands; Reebok offers everything you need. How to Incorporate Your Family Into Your Workout Schedule
As a parent, you know the challenges that come with maintaining a consistent workout schedule. It’s not always easy to get to the gym when you have to pick up the kids after work or make it to their next play date. Luckily, there are ways that you can strengthen both your body and your connection with your family. Throw on your workout clothes for women or men and get after it with these four tips.
Tumblr media
Take Everyone Outside Going outside is a quick way to get the family involved in your fitness routine. Whether you’re at the park or the jungle gym, start saying yes to all of the games your kids want to play. That means less screen time and more playtime, which is a fun way to get in your cardio while bonding with your loved ones. Be sure that you and your significant other invest in high-quality workout clothes for men and women that keep you cool and comfortable while testing your flexibility and speed out on the playground. You can also make yard work and gardening a part of your outdoor regimen. Since many common tasks involve different muscles, it can turn into quite the workout if you focus on your form or add resistance. Gamify Your Household If you can’t head outdoors, consider finding ways to make your home a haven for exercise. Using treadmills and rowing machines are obvious solutions, but you can turn up the burn with bodyweight alone too. Take your approach further by gamifying your workout routine and everyday tasks. For example, you can make chores a race or you and the family can dance along to your favorite playlist. For the next movie night, try a quick HIIT routine during commercials or intermissions and get your body moving. Another fun idea is playing an ongoing game with your kids. Have them hide a selected item and each time you stumble upon it throughout the day, do a circuit of stairs or a set of jumping jacks. Add a Walk or Activity After Dinner After dinner is the perfect time to cap off the day with a little bit of movement. Try scheduling playtime with the family or walking outside after dinner to keep the family active. Take the chance to catch up about the day and you won’t even realize how much energy you’re using. Make your fitness goals an opportunity to connect with family as you increase stamina and conversation in a daily routine that works within everyone’s schedules. Plan Monthly Workouts Who doesn’t love a planned challenge? Every month, come up with something new your family can do together. Add relay races and obstacle courses to birthday parties and other family gatherings or you can sign everyone up for a charity walk. It doesn’t stop there either, as you can invite friends and other family members to share ideas. With all of these tips put into practice, you can find new, fun ways to make your days more active while also creating new memories with your loved ones. About Reebok Known as one of the best fitness brands in the world, Reebok continues to shape the industry with their premium footwear and athletic apparel. The company pushes the envelope with dynamic designs and innovative materials to level up your performance without sacrificing quality or comfort. You can easily lead an active lifestyle with their diverse collection that features everything from gym shorts to gym shoes that provide unparalleled support. PROMPT.
Routine.
Who would’ve thought that Cas would end up here, of all places? Certainly not his family, certainly not anyone from his past. He doubted that anyone actually needed a business degree to bartend at the Violet, or to bartend anywhere, really. He doubted that anyone would think to find him there, which was part of the reason he enjoyed being there in the first place. That was the point of running away from the past, no? To escape it? Nights at the Violet were indulgent, and that was Caspian’s favorite part of it all.
Indulgence. Sweet indulgence. To start his shift after a hit of the best coke he could get his hands on was a feeling of near-euphoria after a morning of restlessness and anxiety. He could feel that paranoia and constant worry wash away as he walked the length of the bar, ears tuned in to everything happening around him. That was the thing about Violet; people talked. And when people talked, Caspian heard. They may have thought that he wasn’t listening, that he was just there to do his job and go home. But that wasn’t the truth. He knew about the man at the third stool and how he’d been cheating on his wife for the past three months. He knew about the woman at the seventh who owed Valencia more money than she had in her bank account, and, despite that, continued to turn to Violet every night for the comfort of a glass of gin. He knew the high-rollers with their hands dirty, knew the secrets of the civilians who simply wanted to live life without Valencia’s influence, knew those who feared Rorschach and what his arrival may mean. And it was almost as euphoric to him as the coke was. Almost.
HEADCANONS.
He grew up in the shadow of his older sibling. He always hated it - always hated never feeling good enough for his parents. No matter what he did, it wasn’t enough. Not when he made the varsity swim team and baseball team as a freshman in high school, not when he was given a swim scholarship to UCLA for college, not when he worked his ass off to get good grades despite his involvement in two sports.
The Hayes family is big in the financial planning world. If you don’t know a thing about that, you probably won’t know who they are, but his mother has been on covers of industry magazines and interviewed for finance TV shows before. She and his father co-own their own company.
He started partying in high school to try to let off some steam after games and dances. He only increased his partying in college. This was when he first tried cocaine. The partying got heavier and heavier, and, eventually, he lost his scholarship. That’s when he started bartending - he didn’t want his parents to know that he lost the scholarship, so he had to pay his own way through the rest of school. This was also when he cut contact with his family.
He likes it when people talk to him as if he was a brick wall, not absorbing any of their information. But he keeps that dirt in his brain - after all, who knows when he’s going to need it?
He was a good cook, once upon a time. Now, he doesn’t really have the incentive to be one, especially since he works through what most people would consider “dinner time”.
He’s pretty good at poker, but he’d never go into the casino to play. That’s too formal for him.
He wouldn’t refer to himself as a cocaine addict - just a man who likes cocaine. He figures he could stop at any time he wants to.
WANTED CONNECTIONS.
SUPPLIER: he's got a drug addiction; he needs drugs. this is probably someone within valencia who provides him with his fix - someone he pays either with information or money.
MUTUAL DISLIKE: this person doesn't like him for whatever reason. maybe he owes them money. maybe he's made a promise he didn't keep. whatever the reason is, cas doesn't like them, either. they're greeted with distaste.
FRIENDS: obviously everyone needs friends. these people may or may not know about cas' addiction problems, and, if they do know, he still won't admit to having an addiction problem.
PAST HOOKUP: any gender ! he does have a tendency to sleep around solely for praise and validation that he feels like he's been missing in his life thus far. don't be mad if he doesn't call you back.
BOSS: this is someone in Valencia, as Violet is owned by them. Cas probably doesn't know too much about them/their involvement in the organization, they probably aren't too close because he's wary of them more than anything.
WARY: this person knows that something's going on with Cas. May or may not suspect the cocaine addiction, probably someone on the side of the law, recognizing that Caspian isn't getting by on his own.
OWED DEBT: Cas owes this person something, whether it be because they provided him with coke or because his car broke down and he needed help fixing it - whatever the reason, he's in debt, and he can't repay it yet. Valencia or not !
OLDER SIBLING: this is the big one ; see the main.

Survival of the Fittest
The year 2020 has arguably been one of the worst times to be a retailer. Since Covid hit earlier this year 27 major retailers have filed for bankruptcy. Most of these stores were considered nonessential and were forced to be closed due to the pandemic. Other reasons were just like survival of the fittest these retailers just did not adapt and adjust properly. Such as, not having an online store and being able to stay connected with their customers via e-commerce. As I stated earlier about survival of the fittest, some retailers were able to adapt to the new flow of e-commerce. Covid lead to many businesses closing but others actually opened more shops during the pandemic. How? Lets take a closer look.
Tumblr media
Lululemon was one the top retailers during our pandemic. Fortunately this Luon-Nylon material was too strong for Covid’s attack on the retailers. Lululemon was on the upside of the wave coming into the pandemic so early quarter sales were good. During the start of the pandemic Lululemon decided to spend twice as much on mens apparel and focus more on digital sales and revenues. Many luxury brands saw a spike in sales during the first months of Covid and during this time is when the government was sending checks for individuals who were eligible. I am not saying everyone did this but from research it was mostly used for rent, food, and “personal care”. Hence Lululemon being a luxury athletic brand and is expensive this may of had a reason to an upwards in sales in the beginning. (See Graph Below)
Tumblr media
Many people do not know this but Lululemon is not just your normal everyday clothing store. They focus on the community and how to give back to their customers. Lululemon is considered a meeting area for lulu activists. These ambassadors hosts yoga classes, cycle classes. They even ask the community to join along for running, biking, the list goes on and on. Due to social distancing rules Lululemon was unable to perform these events. This is why Lululemon introduced their new gym accessory in June.
The Mirror
Tumblr media
Lulu bought the startup company for $500 million. With Lulu not able to work with their customers and the community they offered this neat design for your at home workouts, gyms were closed and we were told to stay inside. Who knew a clothing company would be designing at home workouts for their customers. Sales increased by 2% to $903 Million...seemed it worked. Along with this Lulu focused mainly on e-commerce sales, one of their most popular options was buying online and picking up in store. No lines, straight to the point. This lead to an increase of 155% on e-commerce totaling $554 million in year to year. Lululemon is helping you stay strong by offering The Mirror and keep you feeling strong with their new apparel.

Three Companies That Are Thriving During COVID-19
There is no question that COVID-19 has impacted thousands of local, national, and international companies around the globe.  Industries such as restaurants and travel via airlines and cruises have been absolutely crippled.  However, there are a fair number of companies in certain industries that have turned a massive profit during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Such companies include:  Zoom, Activision, and Lululemon for example.  Although these companies occupy varying industries, they all have something in common.
Whether your ordering clothes from Lululemon, talking with friends or family via Zoom, or playing ‘Call of Duty’ (Which is owned by Activision) with the boys.  There is one common thread.  All of the aforementioned products and services are available to people who were previously stuck in their homes during March, April, and May.
Zoom – Okay, we all know Zoom right?  Great!  As many people already know, Zoom faced a massive public backlash as it related to how the company obtains and secures users data, i.e. video chats and audio conversations.  Allegations of Zoom’s misuse of users data were made at the start of 2020.  However, with COVID-19 arriving on the World stage in February and March, much of the public backlash was overshadowed and in some cases, it was forgotten about altogether.  As we all know over the past three to four months, people have been forced to shelter in place and quarantine within their homes.  This resulted in a massive user surge in apps like Skype, WhatsApp, Zoom, etc.
According to a ‘Business of Apps’ article ‘Zoom Revenue and Usage Statistics (2020)’ the company “Zoom was seeing 200 million daily meeting participants.  The following month, this figure had risen to 300 million.  This compares to 10 million in December 2019.” So the usage of the Zoom app skyrocketed, but what does that mean regarding finances?  On January 3, 2020 Zoom’s stock was valued at $67 per share. As of June 10, 2020 Zoom’s stock is valued at a whopping $221 per share!  That is an incredible overall increase of 7.59% within just six months.  Although there is arguably a difficult road ahead of Zoom (regarding the privacy and data issues as it relates to Facebook) the company is poised to continue increasing their profits in the near future. However, this stock should be considered riskier than some of the others on this list.
Activision – This company is no stranger to individuals who prefer to spend most of their waking hours inside of their homes. Since 1979, Activation has been cranking out hit after hit within the video game industry.  I myself have enjoyed many of their titles including the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise among others.  Its also no surprise that video game usage went up exponentially in the past months due to COVID-19.  This resulted in an increase of sales within the video game industry.  Just ask anyone who has been trying to buy a Nintendo Switch for the past four months.  Its actually impossible!  Anyways, as of March 20, 2020 the Activision stock had fallen to a net value of just $52 per share.  As of June 10, 2020 the Activision stock is now worth $74 per share.  A respectable overall increase of 2.53% in the company’s stock.
Said increase occurred for a few reasons.  Namely, an increasing number of people were now staying at home turning on their Xbox's and PlayStation's to entertain them while they were quarantining.  During the month of March, news broke out that multi billionaire, George Soros had just bought $45 million worth of Activision stock. There’s really no question that when an investor like Warren Buffet or George Soros purchases and/or invests in a company, a plethora of individual investors will tend to follow suit.  Thus, Activision seemed to coast through some of the hardest hitting months of COVID-19.  Either way, its safe to say that the fifth largest video game publisher, i.e. Activision will more than likely weather the COVID-19 storm.  Making them a potentially excellent investment in the coming months and years.
Lululemon – Lululemon (Lulu) is an athletic clothing brand that got its start back in 1998 in Vancouver, Canada.  Today, the company rivals competitors such as Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.  However, during the past several months while COVID-19 was grabbing the World’s attention, Lulu managed to do something that the rest of the athletic apparels brands failed to do.  They increased their company net worth.  By a lot! On March 16, 2020 a single Lulu stock was valued at $139.  As of June 10, 2020 Lulu stocks are valued at an incredible $323.  That’s an increase of 2.16% when compared to their stock value before the COVID-19 collapse. This feat was accomplished, while competitors Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour are still in the red by a few percent. The question is, how did Lulu succeed when all others in their industry failed?
During the Spring semester this school year, I was assigned a group project in my social media marketing class.  Our group decided to spend the following three months researching Lulu, and composing a comprehensive 20 page paper regarding our findings.  Are findings were quite stark when compared to the aforementioned competition within the athletic apparel industry.  My classmates and I discovered that Lulu utilizes their social media platforms in a way that the competition just doesn’t.  For example, Lulu uses their Twitter account to answer consumer questions regarding product care or return policies.  They also used their account to ask for customer feedback regarding the company’s clothing line and other products.  Essentially Lulu is always trying to improve their products and services.
However, when COIVD-19 came into play, Lulu did something that took the competition weeks and months to catch onto.  Nearing the end of March, Lululemon started using their social media platforms to share workout ideas and tips that people could use at home while quarantining.  This provided a sense of community for Lulu consumers, and it allowed for them to connect with people while they were stuck self-isolating or quarantining at home.  Lulu was essentially reaching out to people providing them with creative ways to stay healthy during the pandemic.  Since people were on social media more than ever, they saw what Lulu was doing and they clearly liked it.  Companies set themselves apart from the competition when they focus on providing a service or a product that actually helps people in their daily lives.  During COVID-19, there was clearly a plethora of people that needed help.  Lulu was there to answer the call in whatever way that they could!  To put it simply, Lulu is a company that I wouldn’t mind investing in for the future.

New PaleOMG x Four Athletics Activewear
It’s that time again! I’ve done 4 previous campaigns with Four Athletics and now it’s time to celebrate a 5th! We started with floral leggings, then came out with 6 different pairs of leggings, then matching bras and bottoms, then our last campaign was based around cold weather gear. But this fifth campaign is going to be just a little different. Because instead of coming out with a ton of different pieces like we have in the past, we are only releasing a few items BECAUSE we are going to start releasing apparel MORE OFTEN. Instead of releasing apparel about 3x per year, we will now be releasing activewear every couple months. That means fewer items each campaign but more different types of items to choose from throughout the year. We will be releasing all types of items from leggings to shorts to tank tops, bras, jackets, and more!! This way we can get more creative through the year and take your feedback to continually grow and change with each campaign!!
Now just some background about Four Athletics in case you haven’t purchased any PaleOMG + Four Athletics apparel in the past. Four Athletics was started by four brothers with a passion for fitness and activewear. They needed high quality fitness apparel that could withstand the toughest workouts, but the cost of what was available was out of control. When it comes to retail, the traditional model is costly, inefficient and in desperate need of innovation. Four Athletics set out to solve some of those problems. They use crowdfunding to match up supply and demand 100% of the time. They only make what is wanted, which eliminates waste, cuts out the middleman, and delivers a premium quality product at a fraction of the retail price. It’s more efficient, more responsible, and USA made!
This current campaign will run from today Tuesday February 19th to Tuesday March 5th then this new apparel will be gone! It’s a limited time campaign! Since Four Athletics runs their company through crowdfunding, you won’t get the apparel until the campaign is funded, so keep that in mind. They first find out exactly how many orders are coming in THEN they print them and you’ll receive an email that they are coming your way! Remember, this reduces waste since they are printing as many that are ordered! And don’t worry, if your size doesn’t fit you just right, Four Athletics customer service will do whatever they need to do to make sure you are a happy customer!
Now let’s get to the apparel!! First up, let’s talk about this matching Sangria Real Shine set. This color has been my absolute favorite of the season and the faux leather type look has been everywhere lately. So Four Athletics created the perfect combination of the two. And what I love about this shiny set that it’s not TOO shiny. They have almost a muted matte look to them.
Here’s some quick facts about both pieces –
The Sangria Real Shine Leggings come in 7/8 length with a 25″ inseam. They have a four-way stretch material with durable flat-lock stitching, which means they are NOT see through. They definitely pass the squat test.
The Sangria Real Shine Bra is designed for light to high impact movements. The crossing of the straps in the back keeps the bra sturdy and in place throughout any workout but it’s also comfortable enough to wear day-to-day under a cute top!

Now for Black Real Shine Leggings and Black Real Shine Bra! These two pieces are just like the Sangria, but black, duh. It’s the same faux leather look without being TOO shiny. I have so many different pairs of black leggings, but none of them look quite like these!
Here’s some quick facts about both pieces –
The Black Real Shine Leggings come in 7/8 length with a 25″ inseam. They have a four-way stretch material with durable flat-lock stitching, which means they are NOT see through. They definitely pass the squat test. And they are 79% Polyester and  21% Elastane, and are Bluesign approved!
The Black Real Shine Bra is designed for light to high impact movements. The crossing of the straps in the back keeps the bra sturdy and in place throughout any workout but it’s also comfortable enough to wear day-to-day under a cute top! The body of the bra is 79% Polyester and 21% Elastane and the Lining is 85% Polyester and 15% Spandex.

Now if you’re trying to find your perfect size, Four Athletics is here to help. They have a super helpful size guide on their site under the description of each piece. When you pull up the size guide, it will compare their size to popular brands such as Alo Yoga, Lululemon, and Athleta. I’m personally a size 4 in Lululemon and I wear a size 4 in Four Athletics, they fit exactly the same for me.
Remember these 4 pieces are only available now until March 5th. Once March 5th rolls around, the campaign will end, then pieces will no longer be available and the number of orders will be printed then sent to you! Four Athletics ships USPS priority flat rate all over the world. Yep, that’s right! Wherever you are, you can get your hands on them! And right now, when you place your order and use the promo code PALEOMG you’ll receive 10% off your order! I hope you guys love the new apparel and don’t worry, we have even more coming in the next couple months!! Can’t wait to show you what’s in store!

I don’t think I ever thought directly that the best stuff would make me happier, but I  do use physical things as checkpoints and rewards.
When we buy bookshelves someday, I know we’re not moving for a while and can start focusing on more confident root-building.
When we buy a bed I know we’re planning on staying in the area at least (we did that ^-^).
When I complete task x, I can purchase this book or reward-thing.
I think it’s not that we value extreme quality or whatever the news wants us to believe, more that we value time and products that offer efficiency, to free up our time to reflect more on ourselves and our world rather than be consistently overwhelmed by it, are supposed to make us happier.
And there’s a truth to that, I think. All of these companies know what we want: time. And they do their best to sell it to us with products that provide that.
Consuming them all at once, I think, would be overwhelming to anyone, and by doing so, doesn’t actually experience the efficiency they’re supposed to be offering. If you’re not wasting time looking for a mattress or spending three hours shopping for new wines, if you’re not stressed by making dinners every night or getting angry at your stupid carry-on, then these products aren’t actually catered to you, imo. These businesses have the Millennial pulse, they know we’re overwhelmed and over-worked and looking for any ethical shortcut that can free up time to actually make friends and develop personal ideologies and skills worth all the work we’re doing in the first place.
They’re selling time and we’re buying it, because how the heck do we combat our shortage of it in the first place?
I wonder how many of these products are actually largely consumed by Millennials and how many are simply marketed as such and criticized as such and therefore consumed as such? I’ve never heard of most of these, but maybe I’m just a bad Millennial?
Marketing to Millennials is not a difficult concept. We want time, to explore the world and ourselves, to try new things and experience life. We’re tired of making so many choices in a day, we want limited options and synthetic solutions that solve many problems at once. And lastly, we want to be individuals, still retaining some semblance of our self while being mostly-exhausted and serving agendas that are not our own, we want to abide by our own ethical codes, to trade fairly, to consume responsibly, to create environmentally, to have a positive impact on the world. Mostly we want time to make those other things happen. Also, we’re poor as shit, so we want things to be efficient for a long time, quality that lasts is worth the extra dollars... until it isn’t. Those wealthy among us are few and far between. We just want time and to be ethical consumers.
So here’s how I think a few of these brands are smashing through Millennial poverty and job-insecurity to rack up sales that AREN’T BASED ON OUR OBSESSION WITH AESTHETIC as some outlets are determined to focus on. These are a look at the tone, voice, and branding of the company’s marketing and how it might apply to Millennial psychology, not sponsorships or ads or whatever. The links are so you can confirm for yourself, just fyi.
Casper promises a good night’s sleep so that you can spend your days rested and ready, utilizing the most out of your 6-hour nights, you perfectionist workaholic, you. On top of that, they focus on the direct-to-consumer model and quality long-lasting material that feeds on the idea of using up less time finding and receiving a mattress as well as keeping or worrying about replacing one.
The Away Carry On is about the idea of using that extra time to travel and explore the world and yourself. Their About page doesn’t even feature a full photo of their product, it’s an ideology. They’re also selling you the time you would spend looking for another option, comparing style and design, they’ve done it for you, created a one-size-fits-all solution, of course it will solve your problem.
We value access over aspiration, and exploration over escape. For us, all time away is time well spent.
Tumblr media
Glossier Makeup promises to be your go-to, you won’t have to stand in those stores of exhaustingly similar shades unless you want to because you’ll already have efficient makeup that doesn’t require reapplication (because that takes time and costs money).
We’re not out to make you into someone else or complicate your routine. We just want to bring you the best makeup products - the ones you’ll reach for every day.
Tumblr media
With Parachute we find the same story of long-lasting quality materials, environmental for those who can afford it, that will make your home comfortable, so that the time you spend relaxing is the most relaxing as soon as possible. Efficient comforts that remind you of the life you’re working toward and all the free time you’ll have once you get there.
With Outdoor Voices, again, we have a focus on experience, the apparel is sold with the encouragement to exercise every day without the pressure of being the best or first, so you can efficiently utilize your time working out AND having fun! The products are quality that won’t have to be replaced as often, and they are fashionable and cute, so you won’t have to waste time on deciding what to wear for your fun social workout. Combined with the focus on community, experience, and activism through social media and events, their campaigns are often focused around the ideological message, their products become a simple representation of it.
#DoingThings is about being active on a daily basis and having fun with friends, without the pressure of being the first or the best.
Tumblr media
Allbirds pursued a similar method of quality-focus, but included much more of their environmental platform, essential for Millennials and our ethical attempts at consumption through the climate crisis. Allbirds makes note of its non-flashy design, making the shoe efficient and adaptable for many scenarios (we minimalists love adaptability and efficiency), and their comfort means you won’t have to waste time picking shoes out either, just stick with the same pair every day, more time to explore the world, less time making decisions or feeling guilty about your shoes.
An entirely new category of shoes inspired by natural materials, and an ongoing mantra to create better things in a better way.
Tumblr media
MeUndies touts the small-wins, having a quality pair of underoos that will last you a long time to start your long day with a positive swing. They’ve accepted that you have little time, and that your life is full of negative outcomes and work that is often unrewarding, so here is a special something to indulge in.
Sometimes it’s the little things that give your morning that well-needed win.
Tumblr media
Everlane is feeding that ethical-environmental Millennial with the efficiency of a brand you can trust, shop without spending time looking at labels or investigating, don’t waste time on expensive clothes that aren’t quality or fair.
At Everlane, we want the right choice to be as easy as putting on a great T-shirt. That’s why we partner with the best, ethical factories around the world. Source only the finest materials. And share those stories with you—down to the true cost of every product we make. It’s a new way of doing things. We call it Radical Transparency.
Tumblr media
HelloFresh is all about simplifying your meal-making routine by sending recipes and ingredients right to your door. Sure, you pick them out for a minute, but shopping? Debating between organic butter lettuce and the other one that says organic but doesn’t have the sticker? Who needs that, you can trust their ingredients, you can customize your plan. Efficiency, adaptability, ethical trade, and experience, they were made for Millennial culture. No marketing necessary, the concept itself fits all the bullets. And they do an outreach program, which is becoming consistently more important for us ethical consumers to gain our pseudo-experience through. I might not have time to volunteer or money to donate because I can’t even afford a barely-livable apartment, but I can purchase and support my own necessities through companies that provide what I cannot (hence the effective longevity of companies like TOMS or Bombas or Yoobi, and other companies found here, many do social media campaigns, so they donate to charities or their own products as a reward for marketing through social media or sharing, including Everlane and Parachute listed above).
Tumblr media
And last for this little thought experiment/analysis thing, we have Leuchtterm 1917 notebooks. I see these all the time, I pick them up with a hefty this might be nice and then see the price and scoff as I set it carefully back on the shelf and return to the spiral bound notebooks, where I belong. Quality is the supreme marketing strategy here, and I would argue it’s not as “Millennial” as the Moleskines as far as “luxury” notebooks go. Moleskines are marketed alongside stationary and journals in bookstores, as the affordable extra, individually minimalistic with hundreds of custom options and colors, they are the features of the Pinterest art and journaling craze and trends (Inktober anyone?).
The Leuchtturm1917 notebooks offer more of a corporate vibe, imo, but maybe that’s the point, they are the Millennial whose start-up has sold or is prospering, they are the symbol of old-world success, an unnecessary luxury meant to motivate more than adapt. Which banks on the Millennial desire for experience and aesthetic encouragement, in that way, I can understand how this company would fit here.
Also, the author mentions specifically using this notebook for bullet journaling (which I tried and failed once), so I understand the Millennial application. Bullet Journaling as a concept is meant to free up time and organize your goals so they are accomplishable, offering experience, creativity, and time to reflect and follow those organized colorful dreams. Why not organize those dreams in fine leather and quality paper that encourages you to work harder?
Experience and consistency are important requirements for quality. quality gives ideas a solid foundation on which they can develop. We are convinced that small details can make a big difference.
Tumblr media
These companies are advertising on Instagram and sponsoring popular podcasts or Youtube creators. They know who and where their audience is and are often genuinely trying to make life more efficient, among the superfluous world’s most comfortable X titles. But whether or not they work, or if they just add extra work to our lives (extra billing, extra passwords, extra clutter), is based on our choices and routines. A few years ago Netflix streaming might have been included as a Millennial extra, and Amazon shopping before that. But those have proven useful, efficient, time-saving, essentials whose winning of the test of time has auctioned them off into mainstream consumerism, rather than this bubble of marketing we Millennials get defined by.
I want time and efficiency, I am exhausted of making choices, I would like products to last a while, to reduce the risk of purchase, and to reassure me that I have agency and power in my life, products that encourage me to live it. Who the heck doesn’t want that? But none of these specific products, so far, has been useful enough to my weekly worries and time-obligations to warrant their cost. Is this really the Millennial dream life, or is the marketing-campaign of these companies similar enough to group them together and make us form a disjointed idea of what Millennials want. Social shopping is fun, obligatory money-spending is stressful, we fear for our time in our commutes and celebration of workaholism, and getting this much in the mail seems exhausting if not occasionally unproductive.
I don’t think Millennials just want aesthetic, I think that’s what we are, but we want to be more. We want the time to make ethical choices, we want the money to sponsor products that utilize ethical choices. We want to matter, to make a difference, we want to be seen. We want friends and experiences together, we want laughter and fun and meaning beyond agendas that aren’t ares. These companies let us wear those desires while maintaining our survival as we shuffle off to our unpaid internships and our hopeful start-up salaries, they sell us hope.
Anyway, I really liked this article, but the more I sat on it, the more I got annoyed with the disjunct of purpose vs. use. Maybe that’s a marketing ploy, and maybe I fell for it, but I wouldn’t expect any of these products to make me happier, because none of them would take me less time, make me less anxious, or offer less stress than my normal routine. That means that this illusion of Millennials that’s getting propagated is based on the false understanding that we value elaborate quality and are frivolous spenders, rather than the reality that Avocado toast is a great source of good fats (Jake’s not home, I can’t ask him for the 500th time to explain it again, sorry), and good grains and good proteins and good spices that will keep you full for a good amount of time and is therefore healthy and efficient when it comes to meal choices (and delicious lol).
So yeah, I don’t think we Millennials are as image-obsessed as we seem, I think it’s all part of a desperation for time. We are told that we deserve time after we are successful, we may travel after we retire, we may find ourselves after we raise kids, and the only way I think we see around it is money. If we can support ourselves independently, then we don’t need to fill anyone else’s agendas, we are free to use our time as we please, on things we are passionate about, on ourselves, on thought, on politics, on friendships, etc.
So there’s my thing, I’d love to hear thoughts about Millennial stereotypes through technology and consumer habits that might be deeper rooted in an attempt to gain time and freedom and identity and happiness. (It’s been a theme lately). I really hope someone skims this ‘cus man, the number of repeat ads I’m going to get from going to these websites is going to be exhausting.

Million Dollar Posts: How Celebrities Rake It In On Instagram
Just about everybody has an Instagram account these days. We use these accounts to follow our favorite celebrities, sports teams, and pages that post photos related to our personal interests. Occasionally, celebrities or other accounts with large followings will use their platform to promote a product or service, whether it’s through a post that appears on their feed or on their Instagram Story. Of course, this type of promotion is not free. The amount of followers and active engagement the account has is the main factor in determining how much an advertisement will cost.
Tumblr media
With over 126 million followers on the platform, is anyone surprised that Kylie Jenner reigns above all and charges a staggering $1 million dollars per paid post? Although she is not the most followed account, her overall influence is undeniable. Holding the world record for the most liked Instagram post up until January 2019, she is definitely a household name in The United States of America. On average, her posts receive well over 4 million likes. That amount of exposure and engagement will make any company looking to reach a massive audience drool.  One company that she frequently works with is SugarBearHair. She promotes the company’s vitamins to her massive following by posting a picture of herself holding the bottle in one hand, and vitamin in the other. As their company account has over 2.3 million followers, it’s safe to say that their campaigns with her have been successful.
Tumblr media
Coming in second place is musician & actress Selena Gomez. At a price of $800,000 per post, Selena will be more than happy to promote your product or service to her 145 million Instagram followers. Although her career started on Barney & Friends, she rose to international fame for her role on the Disney Channel show Wizards of Waverly Place. Having multiple hit songs on charts all around the world, it comes as no surprise that she’s built up a mammoth following on Instagram. Previously, she has been the face of a campaign with athletic apparel company Puma and luxury goods company Coach. For the Puma campaign, Selena posted both photos and videos of herself wearing or working out in the apparel to grab consumers attention. In the Coach campaign, she successfully designed her own line of clothes and promoted it to her followers. With her posts receiving an average of 7 million likes, Selena can be comfortable knowing that if she ever wants a break from making music or acting, she can still make a fortune just by posting on Instagram.
Tumblr media
Rounding out the top three on the list is professional football (soccer) player Cristiano Ronaldo. With 153 million followers on Instagram, he is the most followed person on the platform. If a company is looking to get their product promoted to as many people on the platform as possible, it’s going to cost them $750,000 per post. As one of the most famous professional sports players in the world, that shouldn’t come as a surprise. While Cristiano frequently uses his Instagram to promote his own lines of products, such as his fragrances and clothing lines, he also promotes for outside brands as well. The most recent advertisement he posted was for SIXPAD, a workout device one wears to help them target muscle training. The company appears to be relatively new as it holds a small following of 23,000 on Instagram. However, Cristiano has worked with SIXPAD in the past and therefore it’s likely that there’s an established brand deal between the two.

This is why they decided to launch District blank apparel as a brand to offer top-notch blank garments. The garments from the brand are super smooth, giving great results with any printing technique.
