Wichita Heating & AC Repair Services
Wichita Heating & Air Conditioning 5218 W 44th Ct S, Wichita, KS 67215, USA 316-531-4477
Fixing Your Broken AC Unit
So, your air conditioner stopped working. How embarrassing is it to come home on these hot days and see that your house isn't as cool as you'd like? No worries! There are some simple fixes for an air conditioner that won't turn on.
First make sure to check the breaker or fuse box if your air conditioner isn't turning on. If it's not a breaker box issue, then it may be time to call in a professional. You don't want to try to fix something you're not familiar with and end up making the problem worse.
Air conditioners work best when they're kept clean and free of debris. Make sure to check the filters and clean them if they're dirty. You can also try using a vacuum cleaner to clean out the inside of the air conditioner.
If your air conditioner is making strange noises, it may be time for some maintenance.
Hire An AC Repair Technician
Air conditioners are an important part of keeping your home comfortable in the summer, but they can also be a major expense. Regular inspections and maintenance can help keep your air conditioner running efficiently and save you money on your energy bills. However, it’s important to make sure that you hire a qualified professional to inspect and maintain your air conditioner, rather than doing it yourself.
There are a few reasons why it’s better to hire someone experienced to inspect your air conditioner instead of doing it yourself. First, air conditioners contain hazardous materials that can be dangerous if not handled properly. Second, proper inspection and maintenance requires specific knowledge and skills that most homeowners don’t have, so improper maintenance can cause further damage to your air conditioner.
Repair Or Replacing Your AC?
There are many reasons why it is better to replace your air conditioner than to just repair it. For example, repairs will be more frequent with an older AC unit. In addition, a new AC will last longer than an old one, meaning you won’t have to worry about replacing it for a long time. Additionally, a new AC is better for the environment.
Replacing an older unit with a newer model will save you money in the long run. An older AC will need repairs more often and will eventually need to be replaced altogether. A new AC unit will run more efficiently and use less energy, saving you money on your monthly utility bills.
Additionally, a new AC is better for the environment. It emits fewer greenhouse gases than an older unit, making it more eco-friendly.

Borneo Kalimantan Cuisine – Alhambra
The Astronomer, June, and I haven’t dined on Indonesian food ever since the incredible food stalls behind the Duarte Inn permanently shut down. Dining at Borneo Kalimantan, along with our friends Andrew and Miri, reminded us how much we adore the cuisine and its awesomely sweet, savory, and funky flavors. We need more Indonesian fare in our lives.
Pro tip: Make sure to have plenty of greenbacks handy because this restaurant is cash-only.
We shared three orders of the Roti Prata ($3.99)—two at the start of the meal and one near the end. Wonderfully flaky and rich, the breads were served with a spice-tinged curry dipping sauce.
Also great was the Chicken Satay ($7.99), which were served in a pool of peanut-y goodness with a smattering of fried shallots atop.
The Gado-Gado ($7.99) was our lone attempt at ordering something virtuous. With plenty of tofu, greens, and cucumbers, the salad just about fit the healthful bill minus the peanut sauce covering every surface.
My dining companions and I weren’t sure what to expect when we ordered the Rojak ($8.99), a traditional fruit and vegetable salad dressed in a fermented shrimp paste and palm sugar sauce. We were pleasantly surprised by its bold and refreshing flavors, especially the pineapple and jicama bites.
I liked everything about the Ayam Muda Goreng Penyet ($8.50) save for the headlining Indonesian fried chicken. I was hoping for a bone-in rendition, but alas, this was all hacked up bits.
The best dish of the night was the Mie Karet Indo ($7.99), a hearty bowl of house-made noodles prettied with barbecued pork, fish balls and cakes, shallots, scallions, and a marinated egg. Served on the side was a bowl of steaming pork broth. We loved this dish so much that we ordered another toward the tail end of the meal. Leaving hungry would’ve been a travesty.
Like I said, we need more Indonesian fare in our lives.

1 of 21 rolls of film contact prints. It took me 5 years to get them processed and developed. If you would look closely that lovely young girl is Ira Cruz. She was diagnozed with Multiple Sclerosis when she was 15. When i met her she was already 24 when i volunteered to shoot her portraits for Philippine Cannabis Compassion Society. She was a Medical Cannabis Hopeful for the passage of then House Bill 4477 and now known as HB180. Ira Cruz is with our creator now some years back. The fight for Cancer and Epilepsy is still on folks. I just realized that now when i opened the envelope from the photo lab and saw this contact print.

IV. FOP News and Press:
A. FOP National President Hails Victories for Law Enforcement in Omnibus
Chuck Canterbury, National President of the Fraternal Order of Police, is pleased with the final draft version of the FY18 omnibus appropriations bill, which increased funding across the board for law enforcement grant programs, including the hiring program administered by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS). The measure also incorporated four pieces of legislation the FOP has championed.
“We are pleased that this Congress has renewed its commitment to public safety by increasing funding for State and local law enforcement agencies through programs like the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (Byrne-JAG) program and the COPS Office,” stated Canterbury. “We were also able to include four pieces of legislation into the omnibus, two of which the FOP played a critical role in: the ‘Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship Act’ and the ‘Student, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Act.’”
The “Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship Act” will eliminate the expected family contribution for a child of a fallen public safety officer whom is awarded a Pell grant. The legislation was introduced by Senators Robert P. Casey, Jr. (D-PA) and Patrick J. Toomey (R-PA). It is a meaningful tribute to these fallen law enforcement officers by helping their children receive a more affordable higher education. The FOP fought hard to get this bill included in the spending measure and our support was critical to its inclusion.
“Senator Casey was kind enough to call me personally to thank the FOP for everything we did to support this effort,” Canterbury said. “It’s a bill we have been pushing for many years and we’re pleased that it’s now finally law.”
The “STOP School Violence Act,” authored by Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-UT), reauthorizes and expands the Secure Our Schools program administered by the COPS Office. The House passed a similar bill earlier this month, but the FOP was unable to support it because it stripped the program out of the COPS Office and transferred it to a general program within the Office of Justice Programs (OJP). The FOP was involved in exhaustive negotiations with senior staff in the offices of Senator Hatch, the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader before agreeing to compromise language. The provision maintains the Secure Our Schools program in the COPS Office and establishes the expansion of the program in OJP.
“This agreement would not have been possible without the steadfast leadership of Senators Hatch and especially Senator McConnell,” Canterbury said. “They understand how important the COPS Office is to law enforcement and how important it is that they administer the programs in which they have greater expertise in. These two Senators fought hard for us and we are sincerely grateful to them.”
B. Omnibus Legislation FOP SupportedThe omnibus for FY18 included four pieces of legislation that the FOP not only supported but pushed to be included. They are as follows:
H.R. 949/S.597, the “Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship Act,” which would eliminate the expected family contribution for a child of a fallen public safety officer for Pell grants.
H.R. 695/S. 705, the “Child Protection Improvements Act,” which would allow organizations that serve children and the elderly to use the FBI database to conduct background checks on potential employees.
S. 2495, the “Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Act,” which reauthorizes and expands the Secure Our Schools program.
H.R. 4477/S.2135, the “Fix NICS Act,” which would require all Federal agencies and States to produce NICS implementation plans focused on uploading accurate, required information to the background check system.
Senator Casey thanked the FOP for our efforts in pushing the “Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship Act” for inclusion into the omnibus language. The Senate version of the “Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship Act” passed the Senate by unanimous consent in the 114th and 115th Congress. Both times the bill has stalled in the House because of then Chairman Kline and current Chairman Foxx. After numerous meetings with House and Senate leadership and letters to the Chairmen and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committee, the bill was included into the omnibus language.
On the “STOP School Violence Act,” the FOP was instrumental in crafting a compromise between H.R. 4909 and S.2495, the “STOP School Violence Act,” which reauthorizes and expands the Secure Our Schools program. The FOP did not support the House bill, which had already passed the House, because it would have stripped the program out of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) and moved it into the Office of Justice Programs. The FOP instead backed S. 2495, which was introduced by Senator Orrin G. Hatch (R-UT), that would preserve the program in COPS while making the same re-authorization and expansions. The FOP engaged in exhaustive negotiations with senior staff in the offices of the Senate Majority Leader, the Speaker and Senator Hatch to craft a compromise for inclusion into the omnibus appropriations measure. The reauthorized Secure Our Schools program will remain in the COPS office and draw funding from the OJP’s Comprehensive School Safety Initiative. The expansions to the program will be housed in OJP using the same funding source.

TNVC Keep Your PVS-14 on Your Head Charles Lasky, Tactical Night Vision Company
I’m often asked about using a PVS-14 as a weapon-mounted night vision device. Short answer: I don’t really recommend it. But, I’m sure you guys want to know a little more than that.
First off, we need to understand that night vision, thermal, and lasers are one-trick ponies. They are designed for warfighters who will use them in a professional capacity to smoke the enemies of freedom across the globe. Like all military gear, it starts out as identification of a problem/challenge facing the warfighter and turns into a solicitation for development of a product that will solve said problem/challenge (yes, that’s way over-simplified).
But unlike the commercial market, the military is usually only interested in solving one problem. They don’t want a product “as seen on TV” that is designed to do everything for everyone because (while it’s a noble goal), the result tends to be a mediocre-poor execution of everything. So, it’s really best to have one product that does one thing really well, therefore increasing the chances of mission success and soldier survivability (no; I’m not saying that all issued gear is great. But, I don’t have the time or motivation to write a ten-volume series). On the flip side, the commercial products tend to follow market trends. Consumers want products that do everything. This culture clash leads us to some misconceptions about night vision use.
The was designed to be the standard issue NVG for US Army and first saw the widespread issue in 1998. As such, it was designed to be on the head 99.9% of the time. A crappy weapon mount was developed due to some initial requests, but warfighters so rarely found a reason to use it, that the piece was often lost to the bottom of dudes’ gear lockers.
As an NVG, it needed to be small, lightweight, and handy; all things that lead to a nice goggle, but crappy weapon scope. There is no shock mitigation built into the system (weight/size savings), so the system was “rated” for no more than 5.56x45mm recoil. MILSPEC Night vision monoculars are not designed with weapon mounting in mind because there is no real need for that feature. They are designed with professional end users in mind.
Direct from Modern-Musket / NRA-ILA Updates Military Funding Bill Establishes Mandatory Program to Sell Historic Pistols to the Public
On Tuesday, President Trump signed into law H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018 (NDAA). Included in the law is a provision long sought by collectors of vintage firearms and militaria that would require military surplus M1911/M1911A1 pistols (1911s) to be made available for sale to the American public. The military currently has some 100,000 excess 1911s sitting in storage at taxpayer expense.
The Washington Post Exposes Pelosi Lie on National Reciprocity
As the saying goes, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Of course, such a record would be an improvement for the Washington Post’s gun coverage. However, over the past year, the Post’s Fact Checker column has provided readers with a handful of well-researched pieces challenging the ridiculous assertions made by some gun control advocates. This week brought their latest, where writer Glenn Kessler admonished House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for her recent comments on H.R. 38, or the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017.
Concealed Carry Reciprocity Passes U.S. House of Representatives!
In a resounding show of support for the Second Amendment, the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a legislative package that included H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act of 2017, and H.R. 4477, the Fix NICS Act of 2017. The bipartisan vote of 231 to 198 advanced a measure that would allow law-abiding Americans who are eligible to carry a concealed handgun under the law of a state to do so in all other U.S. states and territories that recognize the right of their own residents to carry concealed. Without a doubt, this is the strongest piece of self-defense legislation to ever come before Congress. It would also help shore up the National Instant Criminal Background Check System used for licensing and retail firearm purchases by adding additional layers of transparency and accountability to the system.
State Attorneys General Back National Reciprocity
Fairfax, Va.— Today, H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, gained support from a coalition of America’s highest-ranking law enforcement officers. Twenty-four* attorneys general from across the country signed a letter spearheaded by Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley supporting this common-sense legislation.
The Science of Selling Gun Control: Picking the Right Data
In a Science Magazine article titled, “Firearms and accidental deaths: Evidence from the aftermath of the Sandy Hook school shooting,” economists Phillip B. Levine and Robin McKnight claim to find a causal link between the spike in gun sales after the Sandy Hook shooting and the number of fatal firearms accidents in the “Post-Sandy Hook Window” running from December 2012 to April 2013.
