Isak season rankings (so far)
I’ve seen people doing this, and while we wait for SKAM Austin to get renewed 🤞 I thought I’d rank the Isak seasons that are out so far, according to my personal preference. People who wanted to read my Matteo and Cris meta, this is the very short version of it.
Warning: I am super critical in this ranking. If you’d rather read only compliments, don’t click the Read More.
SKAM s3 – Isak: I don’t consider myself a Skam supremacist or whatever the term in vogue is these days. There are many things about Skam that I’m not happy with. I wasn’t really into the idea of the remakes at first, but when they started coming out I hoped that some of the stuff I had issues with in Skam was handled better in the remakes. That said… I never had issues with season 3. I think it’s as perfect a TV season as it can get. The writing, the acting, the music, the cinematography… Everything has a reason for being there and nothing got unresolved. I don’t feel Isak’s season needs “fixing.” A good remake of Isak’s season, for me, is one that takes what Skam did and flips it and does entirely different things with it, not one that aims to tell the same story with cosmetic changes here and there.
DRUCK s3 – Matteo: I’m not sure if Matteo’s season would be as high for me personally if it weren’t for David, tbh! I fell in love with David before I even knew his name was David. My main issues with Druck s3 are these: Druck put a lot of effort in adapting the original storyline to David and Matteo’s personalities, but I don’t see the same effort with the internalized homophobia storyline. I don’t think the writing is consistent there. I also didn’t like the way they hinted at Matteo having a MI, but never committed to it. In fact, I’m not even sure the writers think Matteo has a MI? When the writers have done interviews they’ve talked of Matteo as a “slacker-type” character, not a character with mental health issues. I also have really mixed emotions about the way David’s outing clip was scripted and shot. But overall I had so much fun watching the season, I love David, I love David and Matteo together, and I love a lot of the musical moments. And honestly, it’s amazing that the writers decided David’s movie was going to be Only Lovers Left Alive, built the whole character around that idea, and that single trait explains so much about how David views himself, Matteo and the world.
SKAM España s2 – Cris: If it weren’t for David’s existence, Cris’ season would have the second spot. My issues with Cris’ season are that I feel like the writers had a much firmer hand when adapting Eva’s season. With Eva, they seemed more confident about getting rid of iconic moments or putting their own spin on them. With Cris, I felt like the criticisms they got in Eva’s season about getting rid of iconic moments made them try and include them even when they didn’t make sense for Cris and Joana. I’m thinking specifically of using 21:21and the pool scene, which had no significance for Cris or Joana’s characters. I also thoroughly hate Lucas getting hate crimed, and yes, it was handled better than in other remakes, but still. I’m from Spain, so yes, I’m aware of the cultural reasons for doing it, and I still think it was unnecessary on every level. (I’ll probably write something longer on this, because I do want to get into the ~cultural reasons,~ but not right now.) The music isn’t amazing because the music licensing costs in Spain are more expensive, but it does affect my overall enjoyment when the use of music was one of the things I loved about Skam. I also think Skam España tried to keep every fandom satisfied, which led to a more scattered season. (That said, compared to Skam’s Sana season, the POV was tight as fuck.) I don’t like that Cris and Joana didn’t have a sex scene. I understand that Irene was a minor at the time, but it doesn’t make up for the fact that Skam and Druck delivered extremely beautiful, non objectified sex scenes, and Skam España didn’t. Now, for the good: aside from the moments I mentioned, Cris and Joana were fully their own characters, Cris isn’t Isak and had her own struggles and character flaws she had to overcome, same for Joana. Cris and Amira’s friendship is everything, and considering how other remakes have handled friendships between a LGBTI character and a character of color, it’s almost enough to declare Skam España the holy grail of remakes. Also, one of the reasons it’s sad that the focus on the girl squad moves to the boy squad for Isak’s season is that the squad is at its most supportive and loving of the main in Isak’s season. By contrast, Eva, Noora and Sana’s seasons are full of betrayal and infighting. It was really so gratifying to get to see the girl squad support and love Cris. I also really liked that it was almost two queer seasons in one, with Cris and Lucas having their own journeys on Youtube and the episodes, which sometimes converged. I also loved the exploration of Viri’s character. Loved the borderline PD awareness content on instagram, for me the only valid use of Minutt for Minutt by a remake. I’m aware of the elephant in the room I’m not mentioning, but I feel like if it hadn’t been for the actors going wild on social media, that scene would have been a non event. Which brings me to…
SKAM Italia s2 – Martino: I really liked Eva Brighi’s season and I was really looking forward to Skam Italia’s take on Isak’s season. I really liked Martino in season 1. Martino’s season opened with a very powerful, factual voiceover of queer Italian people calling into a helpline to set the tableau of what it means to be queer in Italy. And then… it just got off the rails, man. Now, I did finish season 2 (racial slur and all), but I’m not sure I would have if it hadn’t been the first remake of Isak’s season. First off, they switched the order of the seasons, but instead of doing their due diligence and keep developing the Eleonora and Edoardo relationship (like Skam España did), they simply sent Eleonora to the cornfield to avoid having to deal with it. Second, the Skam España writers forced a few Isak and Even elements on Cris and Joana that didn’t fit them… Bessegato forced plenty more elements that didn’t have any relevance to Martino and Niccoló onto them. The obvious network interference when it came to Martino and Niccolò’s intimate scenes. And when I say intimate, I don’t mean sexy sex sex scenes, I mean the scenes that in Skam were Isak and Even existing in their own bubble. In Skam Italia, these scenes were intruded upon by the boy squad again and again. I’m not sure whether the Skam Italia fandom realizes that the reason the Italian boy squad is so loved is because they had a much larger role in Martino’s season that infringed on Martino and Niccolò’s dynamic. Anyway, I thought the boy squad was gross, honestly. The way the volleyball scene was shot was less about Martino’s discomfort and more about close up shots of a 14-year old actress’ sweaty butt and crotch. And for my money, I can’t understand why keeping Francesco Centorame meant they absolutely couldn’t cast an actor of color to play Luca. People talk about wtFOCK using certain tropes for shock value, but can we talk about the way Skam Italia had Niccolò literally run around Milan naked and giggling for the viewer to see? It appears that Skam was too tactful only giving us a glimpse of Even’s bare ass leaving the hotel room. We really needed to sensationalize the whole event, or otherwise it would fly over our heads how serious Niccolò’s crisis was. And Bessegato’s instagram tantrum when called out on Niccolò randomly dropping a racial slur mid-conversation was just the cherry on top. Oh, and I also hated the inclusion of Martino’s mom, but that’s more personal, so I’ll leave it at me having an issue with that decision because of hugely personal reasons I won’t go into. (Edit: I forgot to say that Filippo’s Pride speech is one of the best remakes of that scene, if not the best so far.)
Didn’t finish:
SKAM France s3 – Lucas: Okay, so here’s my Skam France story. Unlike a not small part of the fandom, I did watch s1 shortly after it came out. Now, I love Eva and Isak on Skam, they are two of my very favorites. I didn’t like Emma or Lucas. However, I love Jonas Vasquez and I felt like Yann was the only phase 1 remake Jonas that really did Jonas V justice. Not Jonas A, not Giovanni G, not Marlon F. Yann. So I came into s3 not very interested in Lucas (or Eliott to be completely honest), but fully pumped to see my boy Yann be the supportive friend Jonas had been in Skam and Yann had been in s1 and s2. Folks… I ragequit Skam France the moment Yann abandoned Lucas in that bench. And yeah, it can be argued that, while they used that moment for shock value, they stuck the landing. I personally disagree, the damage was done there, but it can be argued. Anyway, that was the end of episode 6, and by then I knew I didn’t vibe with Lucas (hadn’t liked him since s1 as aforementioned), Eliott had done nothing to get me onboard, couldn’t care less about the girl squad being forced into the season through network mandate, hated Basile and the Daphné/Basile storyline, and was bored as hell of people fawning over Arthur when the character was as lacking in substance as Mahdi, but fandom never went crazy over Mahdi in the same way (fun fact! Despite Skam fandom being much larger than any remake fandom, there were never essays about how great Sacha’s acting was, how carefully constructed his character, there weren’t people fighting for Mahdi-related usernames… I could go on). I simply can’t understand how the writers came up with the whole Polaris thing and then dropped it entirely after episode 4, and didn’t bother coming up with a twist on that motif. (You know, like the R+J and Pretty Woman twist, or how Druck used the vampire motif, or how Skam España used the Dangerous Liaisons motif throughout the season.) Like… Instead of using an existing piece of media, they created one tailored to what they wanted to do, but they didn’t follow through with it? Almost completely wasted the potential of the Lucas/light/darkness symbolism/motif. And, as I’ve mentioned with Skam España, I realize that the music licensing costs for France are astronomical, but again it does affect my overall enjoyment of the show, and the piano music didn’t make up for it.
wtFOCK s3 — Robbe: I gave Skam France six episodes before I quit. By the middle of week 2 of wtfock I was already checked out. The decision to delay Sanders intro just completely ruined the pacing and anticipation for me. The lack of a tight POV was another nail in the coffin. How utterly loathsome Moyo and Jens were in that first week and a half was another factor. The way they resolved the issue of Milan leaning in for the kiss with Robbe was yet another. The wtfock characters having no nuance (most of them have one character trait, the most any of them have is three) was another. Initially I quit watching because I thought I’d write episode by episode posts, and I wanted to keep my reactions fresh. So I just read the transcripts. And every single thing I read in those transcripts only served to prove I was right in dropping it. But here’s one thing I liked! I liked the blurring of the fourth wall with the spray painting of the garbage truck and the garbage truck servicing Antwerp at the time the season aired. (I could draw a parallel between the garbage truck being the first motif the season deployed, and how the rest of the season turned out, and... well, I guess I just did.)

TUCCI, HEMINGWAY AND CLOONEY.....INTERRELATED
http://keywestlou.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/George-Clooney-video-1-1.mp4
Hope you enjoyed the George Clooney video. Lynda Frechette sent it to me. Thank you, Lynda. This portion of the blog will share some interesting items involving Stanley Tucci, Ernest Hemingway and George Clooney.
The three simply are interrelated by Italy.
I begin with Stanley Tucci.
An interesting movie actor. I thought his best performance was in Pravda.
Tucci spent a good portion of the past year filming a TV series involving Italian food. Food prepared and served as only Italy can. He traveled all over Italy enjoying the culinary artistry of the country’s various regions.
The show is titled Searching for Italy. I watched it for the first time last night.
A winner!
Tucci ended the show by having dinner on Lake Maggiore. A special place to enjoy for a vacation, a drink and/or dinner. I did all three more than once.
The Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees sits on the lake’s southern side facing the tiny Borromees islands and the Alps. Everything is the Alps in this part of Italy.
I was fortunate in my travels to visit the area 3-4 times.
In Tucci’s Italian food show last night, he was pictured visiting the Grand. Walking through the first floor itself and outside the back area of the Hotel where he was shown sitting at a small table enjoying a drink.
I was immediately excited. The Hotel was never referred to as the “world famous” Grand. It was, however. I could never forget.
The first time I stopped in for a drink, I initiated a conversation with the bartender. Probably 50. We got into Hemingway. He could see my interest. He called over a thin old man with white hair. The man moved slowly. Another 5 years and I will look like him.
He served Hemingway and Hemingway’s love at the time Agnes Kurwosky. He gave me the “Grand” Hemingway history. He was the bartender back in 1918 when Hemingway visited.
He advised the present bar was not the location of the bar Hemingway sat at. He took me to a small room in the back of he hotel. No bigger than 15′ by 15′. A storage room when I visited. Full of boxes and extra furniture.
The bar itself was gone. The room had only one window. He showed me where Hemingway sat so he could look directly out the window. As we walked he shared some Hemingway stories.
I was in all my glory!
He took me outside in teh back. A huge rolling lawn with an item of greenery here and there. Small white tables and chairs hee and there.
I had 2 drinks the first time. One at theh inside bar, the other outside in the back at a small white table. I imbibed whee Hemingway had done so. In the backyard where for sure, Hemingway first sat. Then Louis. Then Tucci.
It was World War I. Hemingway had joined the Italian ambulance service. The U.S. was not yet in the war. He joined when he was 18. He was seriously injured when 19 by a mortar shell which exploded next to him.
His injuries kept him confined to a hospital for 6 months. His nurse was an American. Agnes von Kurowsky. They fell in love while she cared for him.
Near the end of his convalescence, Hemingway was given a 10 day pass. He and Agnes spent 7 of those days at the Grand Hotel.
Hemingway fictionalized Agnes as Nurse Catherine Barkley inA Farewell to Arms.
Hemingway was 19 at the time. Agnes, 26. Hemingway was desperately in love with Agnes. He thought she with him. He received a Dear John letter when he was back in the States from Agnes who still was in Italy.
The only way to say it was he way it happened. Agnes dumped Hemingway for an Italian Duke or Count who was also a Lieutenant.
History casts Agnes as a status seeker.
The two never met again.
However, they were both in Key West at the same time on several occasions. Historians tell us Agnes knew Hemingway was in town each time. Hemingway did not know Agnes was living in Key West.
Agnes and her husband had moved to Key West in 1951. She worked at the public library for years. Even inadvertently, their paths did not cross.
After Hemingway’s death, his wife Mary came to Key West. She had been advised that a room in Sloppy Joe’s was stored with boxes of Hemingway’s writings, etc. when he left for Cuba.
Mary found many things. Some that turned out to be of significant value.
Among the items she found were Agnes’ letters to Hemingway.
Mary was aware Agnes was living in Key West. She visited Agnes and gave the letters to her. The two became friends and continued to visit.
Agnes left Key West in the 1960s. She told people she left because of the Conch Train. It became too much to hear “Ernie’s girl” lives here as it went by.
George Clooney never had anything to do with Hemingway. Their connection is both lived in Italy a portion of their lives. Hemingway during World War I. Clooney has lived in Italy for many years in a home near Lake Como.
I assume Tucci and Clooney know each other as both are actors.
I live and learn. Today, an impressive fact. More than half of the coastline of the entire U.S. is in Alaska.
Next another day on my First Time in Greece. Camogli again. The Italian Riviera was not hard to take.
DAY 42…..Greece the First Time
Posted on July 8, 2012 by Key West Lou
The honeymoon is over!
I return to Key West tomorrow. Monday, not Tuesday as I thought. Fortunately, Lisa picked up on my error. She Skyped me yesterday to tell me I was going to have missed my plane if I left Tuesday.
On a trip as I have experienced, days of the week and dates get screwed up. Intermingle. Are not important.
As a result of which, a person can miss a return flight home!
My today – Sunday – now changes. No Milan. No Leonardo Da Vinci. Instead rest and packing.
I am in Novara. Drove here from Camogli yesterday afternoon. A two hour drive. Thruways all the way.
Strange traffic for a summer Saturday afternoon. None. Just me and a few other cars.
It is the cost of gas and high road tolls here in Italy.
The other vehicles on the road all passed me at 125 miles per hour. Crazy!
The clothesline saga continues. Eevry town and hamlet I drove by…..there they were! Clothes hanging ouside windows and on front porches. Even here in Novara, a classy city.
Lisa Skyped me in the afterfnoon. Fortunately. Otherwise, I would have missed my plane tomorrow. Got to see and chat with the grandkids and son in law Corey. I could tell I am really missed. A nice feeling.
Last night was another birthday dinner. My Morrocan friend Miriam cooked for me. And several others as well. A dinner party.
We started with a good champagne. During dinner, Beefeater was substituted for me. A thoughtful gesture.
Pickies to begin. Too many to describe. All good.
Then humus. Not the kind you buy in the supermarket and scoop onto a plate. Miriam made the humus from scratrch. Ground the checi beans herself.
The entre was spiedini. Small pieces of beef on a stick. Miriam also prepared some sort of wheat dish mixed with very tiny pieces of tomato and covered with just enough oil.
There was a touch of Lebanese to the meal.
Miriam exceeded herself with the birthday cake. Made by her from scratch, also. A cheesecake covered with blueberries and gelato. Of course on top 77 candles. One big 70 years old one and 7 tiny one year ones.
Everyone sang Happy Birthday! Just like in the U.S.
I was pleased with it all. My special thanks to Miriam.
Today I have to get ready for tomorrow. I will leave Novara about 6 in the morning. I have a one hour drive to the Milan airport. Then many hours in the air till I set down in Key West just after 9 in the evening.
Enjoy your Sunday!

Just when you thought he was out, infamous gangster Al Capone keeps getting dragged back into motion pictures. This time it's Tom Hardy in " Capone" (now streaming), entering the formidable shoes used by Robert De Niro in 1987's "The Untouchables." Writer/director Josh Trank's brand-new telling doesn't focus on the feared Chicago criminal offense boss, however the last year of a syphilis-suffering, psychologically weakened man who died in 1947 at age 48. Trank makes clear he took creative license in " Capone," calling it an "impressionistic movie, a rendering of a 20th-century icon." That's typical in gangster portrayals, states Jonathan Eig, author of "Get Capone: The Secret Plot That Captured America's Most Wanted Gangster."" That's part of why Capone has actually become this mythological figure for our times," Eig states.
He bought his colonial-style house on Miami Beach's Palm Island in 1928, "and the IRS was never ever able to get their hands on it," says Eig. "He had the ability to live out the ins 2015 of his life in an amazing place." Trank shot the movie at a mansion in Covington, Louisiana.
Capone kept a cover on his condition till he was officially detected by jail medical professionals. Premiere Night
“I’ll be ready in 5 minutes” I yelled from the bathroom to Jared, who was in the bedroom waiting for me to finish my make-up. I was getting ready for his movie premiere. Tonight Suicide Squad had its premiere in New York and Jared insisted I came along. This would be the first time that he’ll officially introduce me to the public as his girlfriend, which only made me more nervous than I already was.
We’ve been dating for almost a year now, and I wasn’t even sure if it’s going to last longer than a month or two, but somehow we made it to the 3rd month, half a year, and here we are, in two weeks we would be dating for a whole year. Time went by so fast that I can’t even believe it. Despite the time period, we wanted to keep things between us as much private as possible, considering how the media is in Hollywood. Paparazzi did catch us a few times but since Jared didn’t want to comment anything, they’ve disregarded it as any previous girl. But tonight was gonna be exceptional.
“How much time does a girl need to get ready, anyway?” I heard Jared said from the bedroom. “You do know you are perfect, even without all that fix-ups, right?” his voice became closer, which meant he was about to come inside, and that’s the last thing I wanted.
“Don’t you dare come in. I want you to see me when I’m done” I insisted and ran towards the door to lock them. The hotel bathroom was huge, so I had to make a few steps from the mirror before I could reach the door.
“But you’ve been inside for more than an hour. I miss you, get out.” he was being a goof as always.
“Patience, Leto. I’ll be out in two minutes I promise. Now step away from the door” I said and added finishing touches to my mascara. A bit more blush, and a fixing spray and I was all done. This night was special, and I wanted to look exactly like that. Plus, this was my first movie premiere, so I had to look as good as the other women on the red carpet. Especially since now that I dated Jared, I had the opportunity to look exactly like that. He was ready to provide me with any dress I could imagine, so I couldn’t really afford to look bad.
“OK, are you ready? I’m coming out.”
“Thank God, I thought you’d stay inside the entire night. Next time I’m bringing the make-up artists here, so that I could be with you the entire time, this was so…..”
I stepped outside the bathroom and he was amazed when he saw me.
“Wow!” Jared said with eyes wide open. His jaw dropped and he could barely catch his breath. “You’re stunning.”
“Why, thank you Mr Leto. ” I said and approached him. He took my hand and twirled me, to look at me from front to behind.
“I never doubted you’d look amazing, but this is breathtaking. You’re so beautiful” Jared said and pulled me to himself to kiss me.
“Thank you. We can go now, if you’re ready” I looked at him, and saw he was wearing a simple white t-shirt, black pair of trousers, and his favorite blue Gucci coat. Good thing I chose this black gown, otherwise we’d be too colorful for sure.
“All set. Let’s go” Jared said and offered me his arm so I could fold mine underneath his. Such a gentleman.
We set in the limo, and started driving towards the theater.
“Nervous?” Jared asked me because he felt my hand slightly shaking as he was holding it.
“A little. I can’t imagine how everybody’s going to react when you tell them.” I said and smiled a bit.
“They’re gonna be ecstatic. And later, we’re having dinner, to celebrate this big announcement.” Jared said and kissed me hoping I’d relax a little. But his kisses were never relaxing. Quite the contrary. Every time he’d press his lips to mine, my entire body would immediately crave his touch.
“You’re not really helping” I said as he broke the kiss.
“Somebody’s eager to go to bed, huh?” Jared whispered in my ear and put his hand on my bare thigh, slightly caressing it.
“You’re sooo bad, Leto. Stop it, or I’m telling the driver to go back to the hotel this instant” I said and sighed at the mere thought of two us in bed.
“Trust me, I’d much rather go back and rip this dress off you, than go to the premiere” he said and kissed me on the cheek, than he pulled away.
Thank God we were finally in front of the theater; Jared got out first, and waited for a second until I scooted to the door. Then he offered me a hand, so I could get out, since these heels were not friendly. I was finally outside and the cameras started flashing from everywhere.
“Jared is this your girlfriend? Who is this? Jared, are you two together? Girlfriend… Lover… Date…” I could hear so many people talking at the same time that my head started spinning, and my eyes started to hurt from all the flashes.
Jared didn’t say a word to the paparazzi, because the camera crew and reporters from various TV stations were standing down the red carpet, interviewing each actor.
“Are you OK? Can you see anything?” Jared asked me, as he held my hand taking me to the wall where we were supposed to stand so the photographers could take pictures of us.
“Yeah, I’m fine… There’s just so many of them… I never realized they’re almost everywhere”.
“They’re just doing their job. OK, we should probably pose for a bit now” Jared said and we stood in front of them. Jared put his arm behind my back, and pulled me closer to himself. Then we looked at each other, “Ready?” he asked me, indicating he’s gonna show everyone we’re together. Then he squeezed me tighter around my waist, pulled me to him and kissed me softly. The reporters went crazy. They all started screaming various questions, and we just started to laugh.
The reporter from E! Online was the first to interview Jared and get the exclusive statement about the two of us.
“So, Jared, is this beautiful young lady who we think she is?” the reporter asked.
“Well, I don’t think I could read your mind. So, I don’t know. You’d have to be more specific.” Jared said and smiled, glancing at me.
“I’d say she’s your girlfriend. Aren’t you, darling?” he said and pointed microphone at me. I was stunned by a moment, and thankfully Jared started speaking instead of me immediately.
“Yes, yes she is.” Jared said and looked me in the eyes. I smiled and blushed a little. I felt so honored.
“And how long have you been dating?”
“It’ll be a year in a couple of weeks.” Jared answered.
“Wow, good job managing to keep her hidden from us for so long.”
“Yeah, well, I had a lot of experience. But I don’t intend on hiding her anymore. She’s very special to me, and I want everyone to know that I love this beautiful woman” Jared said and pulled me closer to him, which made me excited.
“Thank you very much for your time, but we’ll have to go inside now” Jared stopped the reporter from asking anymore questions and we went to meet the rest of the cast.
“Hey there Squad.” Jared greeted everyone.
“Look who it is, Mr J himself.” Will Smith said and approached to hug Jarred. “And who is this gorgeous lady?” Will said and kissed my hand.
“Hi, I’m Y/N, Jared’s girlfriend. Pleasure to meet you”.
“Pleasure is all mine. Well, Jared, I think you’ve got yourself some lady. She’s a keeper.” Will said and tapped Jared on the shoulder.
“Yeah, I think so too.” Jared said and looked me with incredibly warm look. Like he was thinking so big of me, and I had the feeling he wanted to say something but he didn’t.
“Hello love doves, I saw you too kissing earlier. Nice move, J, real nice.” It was Margot Robbie, coming from behind me, and hugged Jared.
“Hello, I’m Margot, nice to meet you”.
“Likewise, I’m Y/N. You look amazing, I love your dress” she really did look flawless, I was a bit jealous when I thought about the scenes she and Jared filmed. I knew they were love partner in the movie, and now that I thought about the two of them together, it kinda made me feel slightly agitated.
“Thank you, but look at you. Yours is exquisite. I’m really impressed. You obviously have great taste in fashion.”
“Thank you” I said and almost blushed. But it felt great to be acknowledged. I actually felt like I belonged here, which I never thought would happen.
“OK, I’ll see you guys later.” she said and went to the reporters.
“See, you didn’t have nothing to worry about” Jared said, wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed me on the cheek.
“I guess I didn’t. But I really feel great now. This night is turning out to be great.” I said and leaned against him.
Jared doesn’t really like to watch his movies, so we’ve just spent a couple of minutes with the rest of the cast and then left to a restaurant for dinner. He planned a little date for us after the premiere, and I couldn’t wait to be alone with him. We came to a restaurant and ordered dinner, then we started talking.
“Tonight was so crazy. But I’m glad we put everything out in the open.” I said and sipped a bit of wine.
“I’ll see if you’ll be glad tomorrow morning when the paparazzi surround the hotel, and start following us everywhere” Jared said and started laughing.
“I don’t really care about that. As long as I’m with you, you’ll protect me from any annoying paparazzi” I said and smirked at him.
“You got that right” he said and winked at me.
“All jokes aside, I’m also glad everybody know now. Because this means we don’t have to hide, anymore, and I can take you anywhere I want”.
“Oh yeah? And where would you like to take me?” I was intrigued.
“How does Tuscany sound?”
“Really?” I almost screamed, and he nodded with the cutest smile. My reaction must’ve been hilarious, because I slightly jumped off the chair.
“Yes, really. I thought we could go there next month, and maybe stay awhile. Like the entire month”.
“A month in Tuscany? I don’t know what to say.”
“How about that you want to go?” he said and smiled.
“Of course, I can’t wait. I’ve always wanted to go, I just never had the time or opportunity.” I was so happy he wanted us to spend a month in Italy. I’ve been to Venice, Verona, Vicenza, Genova, Milan and even Lake Como, but Tuscany has always been a dream.
“Great, I can’t wait to have you all for myself, for an entire month” Jared said and we clinked our glasses.
Then he took my hand and looked me deep into my eyes. I still had the feeling he was trying to tell me something, but he just kept looking at me, and seamed happier than ever before. Then we kissed and enjoyed each other’s company.
We finished dinner and decided it’s time we got back to the hotel.
“I can’t wait to get out of this dress and these heels.” I said as we were driving to the hotel.
“Oh yeah? Well, it might take awhile though.” Jared said and smirked, kissing my neck.
“That’s so not fair. You can’t do this here.” I squirmed and shook a bit. Every time he’d kiss me on the neck I completely lost control. I started kissing him passionately, and I could barely keep my hands off him.
“Wow, someone’s definitely getting impatient” Jared said as he broke the kiss. Then he kissed me again, biting my lower lip, which made me moan, almost so loud that I was afraid the driver would hear us, even thought the wall behind him was up.
“Mmmm, You’re driving me crazy” I said and pulled back from him.
“I give my best” he said and raised his eyebrows.
Finally, we were in front of the hotel. We got out of the car and went to our room. We had an entire luxury suite for us so we could have the biggest privacy and enjoy our NYC stay to the fullest. Not that I ever cared about the type of the room we’d stay in, but Jared insisted we have top service, and he always has his way.
We were in the elevator and as we approached our floor, Jared seemed to become more nervous. But in a good way. He couldn’t stop smiling and he’d occasionally look at me than up to see which floor we’re on, and then back to me.
“What are you smiling about, daredevil?” I was curious.
“Nothing…. I’m just really happy” he said and kissed me. Ding indicated we were on our floor so we got out of the elevator and headed to our room.
Jared took the key-card and opened the door, letting me get inside first. I entered the corridor and wanted to turn on the lights, when I saw a low light coming from the bedroom.
“Did you forget to turn off the lamp again?” I said and left my clutch on the table in the corridor.
He didn’t say a word, only shut the door and walked behind me as I entered the bedroom.
When I got inside I almost fainted at the sight of it.
“Oh my God…. Jared…” I said, put my hands on my face, and started to cry when I saw the biggest surprise waiting for me.
Then I looked at the bed and there it was. The question he wanted to ask me the entire night.
He smiled, took the ring, and knelt in front of me.
“Well, will you?” he asked ant took the ring to put it on my finger.
“Yes!” I said without thinking. I was so happy to hear him asking me this.
He put a ring on my hand, and got up to kiss me.
“My God, I’m so happy you said Yes” Jared said and looked me in the eyes, keeping his forehead against mine.
“Did you really think I’d say No?” I asked and started laughing, while my eyes were tearing a bit.
“I don’t know… A lot of things went through my mind, but one thing I was sure of - I had to ask you, because I don’t think I could imagine my life without you” he said and wiped a tear off my cheek.
“Me either. You’ve become such a huge part of my life, that I don’t see us being apart ever again” I said and hugged him while he started kissing me again.
“Oh, and by the way, how do you feel about a wedding in Tuscany?” he just dropped another bomb on me.
“Seriously? That’s why we’re going to Italy? Wedding and a honeymoon?”
“Only if you’re up to it.”
“Of course. But what about our families, and friends?”
“Everything’s already taken care off, we’ll bring them along. Don’t worry about a thing.”
“Nothing passes by you, Leto, does it? You’re such an amazing guy, you know that?”
“If anything, I’m the guy who was lucky enough to be loved by such a wonderful woman as you are. I’d do anything to keep you happy. There’s nothing in this world that I love more than to see you smile.” he said and kissed me again.
I was in heaven. Not to mention that this was the last thing I’d think he’d do tonight. Even though I had the feeling he was anxious to tell me something, this was definitely not on the list of possible things he could ask me. I just became his girlfriend to the public, and we’re already engaged. This is gonna be some news tomorrow that’s for sure. Once they spot this huge ring on my finger, we’ll be on front pages all over the country. But I couldn’t care less. The only thing important is that we’re getting married in a month. I can’t wait to see the marvelous Tuscany. This is gonna be some honeymoon, that’s for sure.
Well, I hope I managed to tell the story Anon requested. :)

What kind of director’s word size, the fact that his films seen by half a billion viewers on all continents. Bulajić had the privilege and honor to be French prime minister “Kozara” held in the Louvre, and it laude with François Truffaut, as well as to Pablo Picasso, who in his career made only two posters, making the poster for “Battle of Neretva”.

There’s no mistake - German German game, Istrijanka Istrijanka (laughs). Here we are covered. Very looking forward to this project. The film crew is outstanding, from the actors to the technical part. I feel safe; I have stage fright, but it is positive, because of the responsibility to project a great director, but also because the action is happening in Istria, said Vidušin.

Velcro® entertains to promote trademark (February)
Don’t write “velcro.” If you do, the Velcro Brand Companies legal team might burst into song about the importance of using the VELCRO® trademark correctly. No, really. To educate the public, Velcro Brand Companies created a music video in which a cast of lawyers sings about why it’s incorrect to use “velcro” as a noun or a verb (for example, shoes with velcro). In addition to the music video, the educational effort includes behind-the-scenes footage, frequently asked questions, a quiz to test your VELCRO® legal knowledge, and an invitation to join the #dontsayvelcro “movement” on social media. (P.S. If you don’t know if it’s truly VELCRO®, go with hook-and-loop fasteners.)

McDonald’s investigates the mystery of the sauce (August)
Fans of the Cartoon Network show Rick and Morty know the story: Last year, an episode of the series referenced a limited-edition Szechuan sauce made by McDonald’s in 1998 to promote the movie Mulan. McDonald’s decided to capitalize on the moment by re-releasing limited quantities of the sauce. It was a fiasco (an intentional one, some speculate). Supplies were too limited and, at some stores, fans fought and rioted. Many fans took to social media to voice their anger and disappointment.
It’s winter now, 10 days until Christmas, where’s that Szechuan sauce pic.twitter.com/OAaWVdvm0e

The Sauce is a three-part investigative podcast produced by Studio@Gizmodo and Onion Labs in partnership with McDonald’s that tells the story of those 2017 events. According to the company, the podcast is a way to acknowledge and apologize for the mistake in a transparent and creative way.
Given the subject matter and McDonald’s involvement in the production, “investigative” is a term best used loosely. The tone is light-hearted and the podcast never refers to Rick and Morty by name. The podcast was released as another 20 million packets of Szechuan sauce hit McDonald’s stores. It’s content about a sauce promotion designed to promote more sauce. If you’re looking for a serious exploration of the dark side of fandom, look elsewhere. But if you’re in the mood for a fun (albeit one-sided) take on a pop culture moment, The Sauce hits the spot.

Cheetos creates images as the orange snack (August)
“Everything looks better in Cheetos.” At least, that’s the premise of Cheetos Vision, an artificial intelligence camera app launched by PepsiCo Inc., the maker of the crunchy orange snacks. Take a photo or video, and Cheetos Vision transforms the image into Cheetos. Users of the app are encouraged to share their creations using the hashtag #cheetosvision. A cheesy marketing stunt? Sure, but one that’s on brand for a company known for its wacky content.

In 1995, a mid-market lingerie brand headquartered in Ohio decided to host a fashion show. Staged in New York’s plush Plaza Hotel, some of the biggest supermodels of the time—Stephanie Seymour, Veronica Webb and Beverly Peele—were recruited to walk.
Models wore modest bias-cut slips, cheongsams and bralettes on the runway, accessorised with cardigans, prim handbags and plaid dressing gowns—wearable, yes, but lacking a certain razzle-dazzle. There were no TV cameras, no music performances, and certainly no wings. Some model castings were done over the phone. A few hundred people saw it, and virtually none of the journalists in the room chose to cover it.
Fast-forward 22 years and the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has changed almost beyond recognition. The TV broadcast is watched by a global audience of millions, accompanied by live performances from the world’s biggest pop stars—Taylor Swift and The Weeknd among them. Models undergo months of rigorous training, donning expensive, elaborately constructed outfits that can weigh upwards of 30 pounds.
But the first show, masterminded by Victoria’s Secret executives Ed Razek and Monica Mitro, gave a glimpse of what the modern fashion show was to become. Celebrities—including Donald Trump and Russell Simmons—dotted the front row at a time when the prime seats were reserved solely for editors and models dominated the covers of magazines. Victoria’s Secret understood the power of celebrity in fashion well before the fashion industry itself did.
Below, six attendees of the original Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show tell us what it was like.
Catherine McCord Then: Model Now: Chef and entrepreneur
“I remember the fittings, Ed [Razek] was there and so was Monica [Mitro]. I was totally nervous—oh my God! You forget that back then it was all about print, and the Victoria’s Secret catalogue was everything. Back then, you were either a runway and magazine model, or you were catalogue, but somehow Victoria’s Secret was able to break that boundary. I don’t think the show prep was intense in the way it is now, but I do remember doing lymphatic drainage, and having lots of leg massages. It’s comical when you look back at the photos—we were almost fully dressed. There were cardigans! Even so, I did feel scantily clad. I’d done shows in London, Milan and Paris, but I remember getting to the end of the runway and suddenly feeling self-conscious because the atmosphere was different. It was more a mix of normal people and journalists. I’m sure I remember seeing Donald Trump in the audience. Models didn’t have publicists, we were just throwing off our clothes, we were naked—I’m on the more conservative side, and I don’t think any of us thought twice about it.”
Ron Galella Then: Paparazzo Now: Retired
“I didn’t pay much attention to the audience—I couldn’t stop looking at the models. The models were the heroines. I know some of the models were nervous, but they never showed it, they were so graceful on the runway. Today they go overboard with the costumes; they have wings, they have gimmicks. In 1995 they didn’t have all that: the models were the main event. I think that something got lost; to me the first show was best. If you have Stephanie Seymour on the runway, what more do you need?”
Veronica Webb Then: Model Now: Model, writer and founder of Webb On The Fly
“I was lucky, my casting was a phone call from my agency saying, ‘Go to your fitting for the show’. [Victoria’s Secret executive vice president] Monica Mitro is one of the nicest people you’ll ever want to meet and she supervised every fitting personally. I had this white corset with white stockings and suspenders and white high heels. I think I did nearly 1,000 squats the week before and went on a ketogenic diet to reduce bloat. You’re in your underwear so it’s all about your body and how strong and healthy you are—there’s nowhere to hide a single body flaw. It was a great exercise in overcoming fear and self-consciousness. But it is a show like no other. It was a big, glam pyjama party with all your besties sharing the spotlight.”
Gail Elliott Then: Model Now: Designer and founder, Little Joe Woman by Gail Elliott
“I walked thousands of runways for 24 years and the two I remember are the first Victoria’s Secret show and Gianni Versace’s ‘Freedom’ show. Back then, backstage was almost as exciting as the shows. Champagne would be flowing and all the models’ boyfriends—who were actors, movie stars, rock stars, musicians and screenwriters—were photographed having fun. I don’t remember it being stressful or feeling nervous, although I guess doing a show in my underwear should have been. I probably wore less clothing at Versace shows! During the show there were a lot of wolf whistles from the audience. The audience wasn’t there to buy: Victoria’s Secret’s vision for the show was different and they’ve certainly kept it up today with the Angels, pink planes and mega hype. It’s a clever company.”
Holly Brubach Then: Style editor, New York Times Magazine Now: Author and screenwriter
“I have only the dimmest memory of that first show at the Plaza. It doesn’t surprise me that there wasn’t much coverage back then. I do recall that most members of the fashion press regarded it as not ‘legitimate’ in terms of design and trends, more of a mall brand. Which it was. But I thought it was such an interesting phenomenon, and I’m not surprised that it has been such a big media success. I think of it as being in the same category as the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue—something that gets a lot of attention and builds a ‘halo’ around the brand. The product is sort of beside the point.”
Ingrid Seynhaeve Then: Model Now: Founder of June 7.2
“I was very proud to be opening the show. It was quite nerve-wracking, as we were in lingerie and I was used to the couture and high fashion shows like Valentino, Ralph Lauren and Dior. You have to walk in a sexy way, playing with the camera, feeling—and looking—like a million dollars with not much on. But it was a fun change to have eye contact with the public and cameras, and to make a statement at the end of the runway. The show grew bigger and bigger each year, I think I must have walked the show five times. It helped with our day rates and became the most prestigious show to do. It gave me a voice as a model afterwards as so many people saw me in interviews on TV.”
