ree's leon valentine's day advent <3
hi everyone. <3 as the leon kennedy fluff truther, i'm making an advent for valentine's day because pookie deserves so much love! everyday, i'll be posting a fic ranging from nsfw/sfw fluff for babu leon, i'll be putting out the scenarios and snippets below if y'all are interested. author's note: i've been meaning to put this out like a week ago when i finally figured out the problem w my account as to why tumblr wasn't letting me reply to comments :( but sadly, college got me so head empty. anyway, i've already got 2 days worth of fics already finished so i hope y'all can give me a read. <3
FEBRUARY 8 𖹭 nice legs, daisy dukes. (vendetta!leon x fem!reader) Leon feels like a creep, fuck that. He definitely looks like a creep. Thirty-six year old in all of his 5'11 glory standing outside his girlfriend's college leant against his Ducati like a dick, carrying a box of those, instagrammable pastries you always like to look at. It doesn't hurt to be sweet. Not when you walk — run, at the sight of him in your preppy mini dress, highlighting those long, long legs. Nothing is sweeter, especially when it's wrapped around him.
FEBRUARY 9 𖹭 starry skies, blue eyes. (re4r!leon x fem!reader) Stars dot stygian skies, the night is young, the moon is high. Leon's heart soars with your every laughter. The way your eyes close and your nose scrunches. God he was so in love with you, he could forgive the fact that the tent should have been up hours ago before night. You swear you remember your knots from your wide-eyed Girl Scout days, and he swears these silly moments with you are what makes life bearable.
FEBRUARY 10 𖹭 cold woes. (re4r!leon x fem!reader) Leon S. Kennedy. The apple of his instructors' eyes (and yours), he's a top graduate in the Police Academy for fuck's sake. He's decimated hordes of zombies in his first day as a rookie cop. Endured military training in the middle of nowhere, he's saved the President's daughter. He doesn't get sick. Only that he does catch a cold at the expense of prioritizing you, his clumsy girlfriend, who forgot to wear a jacket on a camping trip, offering his warm clothes to you. He doesn't regret it, he likes taking care of you, but there's something adorable about your sheepish apologies as you wait on him. He could get used to being babied. FEBRUARY 11 𖹭 love on me. (di!leon x fem!reader) As much as Leon loves the sun, the beaches, the tropics. Oh what he would give to become a beach bum in his next life instead of being smacked by bioweapons day in, night out, and being a good bitch to good ol' U.S of A. Unfortunately, after the events of Alcatraz, maybe he's had enough of the sea for now. He gives himself a pat on the back, takes out a chunk of his savings to go to Japan because you've been eyeing it. You said you were interested in the food, culture, and sights. So why in the world were you dragging him to a love hotel? FEBRUARY 12 𖹭 fill up your cup. (re6!leon x fem!reader) He feels himself spiraling recently, turning to the bottle because a glass is never troubled by his woes. He breaks them of course, can't help it, seems like his life is doomed to him breaking in the end. Fragments of glass scatters on the floor, vodka spills on the floor splashes it around like his grief because his body can only take so much. You arrive as he tries to pick them up, attempts to pick himself up. You whisper assurance, he doesn't deserve it. The way you look at him ardently, the gentleness that is your existence. You empty out his pain, and fill it with love. FEBRUARY 13 𖹭 the thrill, the love. (damnation!leon x fem!reader) He wills his old Yamaha to go faster. Your dainty arms clinging to him, the softness of your touch as his speed breaks the sound barrier. What started as mere curiosity turns into rituals. Secrets that only the both of you know. He knocks on your door at midnight, drives you around town. He scolds you every time your arm breaks free, throwing them to the wind. You don't care, you love the thrill, you love him. Leon admits that there is something alluring to the thrill of the chase. Perhaps that's why he's spent his years chasing Ada, but with you it was different. FEBRUARY 14 𖹭 kiss it better. (di!leon x fem!reader) Leon is a man full of stories, his pain, his peace, his fears, his needs. There is more to him than just being a formidable weapon against bioterrorism. He never was a weapon, just a flesh and blood human, and in his mortality there are scars. Deep within him, and littered in his skin. You kiss the faded slash on his hand, he tells you how he'd got it from when Ashley Graham had tried to stab him under the influence of the plaga. You kiss it again, and what he doesn't tell you is the wave of warmth that washes his entire being, it tugs on his very soul. You kiss the scars because it's there, because it's him, and in his reverie, he thinks you truly are his person.

I don't remember the year exactly, I think it was in 2003. The place I do know. It was the hotel where we stayed at Madonna di Campiglio, in the Italian Alps, that Philip Morris closed at the start of every year for Wrooom, the presentation event of the racing teams they sponsored. Ferrari, basically. Sometimes someone from MotoGP would show up. Some dozens of journalists were invited to Wrooom, which consisted of official events — such as press conferences and sponsor promotions –, others of pure leisure — dining on the top of some mountain to ski down carrying torches, snowboarding lessons, superb lunches with the snowy peaks as a backdrop — and some more not on the itinerary. Among the latter, epic parties and late nights doused with whatever was in the bar. It was during one of those late nights that we all got together in one of the hotel's small lounges for another drink, and another one, and another one, enemies of the end that we were, when Schumacher showed up dressed as a bride, put a skirt around Barrichello's waist and took his partner for a dance, laughing nonstop, while a Brazilian friend of Rubinho's played something on the piano. (It wasn't a time of phones with cameras, let alone social networks and live streaming devices. It's always necessary to remember that, because many people seem to believe those things have always existed, which leads to a certain indignation when they're faced with unseen and "inexplicable" images against the instagrammic and tik-tokic logic of seeing the world.) We all burst out laughing and Thais, my wife at the time, had a small 135 mm film analog camera. She took three photos and continued having fun, like all of us. It was simply the recording of a happy moment. I didn't even notice at the time that she had snapped the photos. The next day, however, Ferrari's press officer, Luca Colajanni, came looking for me at breakfast in his urgent and dramatic manner. “Flavio, Flavio, for God's sake, did you photograph Michael as a bride?”, he asked. “I didn't, but Thais did”, I answered, laughing again, and so did she. Luca was scared to death that those photos would be published. It was his image, Ferrari's image, oh no!, oh heavens!, what are we going to do now?, and faced with all that despair I told him that we had already sold to English tabloids, it was late, which left him even more terrified. So, afraid that he might have a heart attack, I gave him a sincere scolding. “Luca, vaffanculo, it looks like you don't know us!”, I said, which seemed to put him at ease. “This will never be published, it's a personal photo, calm down, don't be a bother. Sit down and eat a croissant.” Afterwards, and for years, whenever I wanted to torment Colajanni I would call him aside and say that I needed money, so I had sold the photos, and he would send me to hell, and I believe he doesn't even remember anymore, it's been a long time [...]

harry, i love u. (part 1)
but more to the point, i love my harriatrics.
i am home, emotionally exhausted, physically ill, and still awaiting my delayed luggage to be delivered, but here is my slane and wembley 1+2+3 review.
i spent a few days roaming around counties clare and galway prior to linking up with the ladies in dublin for slane. straight off the plane i hired a car and drove to the west. i needed to kill some more time before checking into my airbnb so i hit the cliffs of moher (again) because it was SUNNY and DRY. it turns out, the west is/was in a drought. dust everywhere.
my airbnb this time around was in fanore. perfect for one person and a nice location for what i like to do. my next day i took the doolin ferry to inishmore and rented an e-bike. rode around the island, had a lovely lunch of a salad and a coke, and hiked up to dun aonghase where it was WINDY and i almost lost my tourist hat but i have catlike reflexes. view from the fort:
aran goat cheese salad:
kilmurvey beach, where i did not get in but will next time for sure:
on my final full day, i went to the doolin cave to see the third-largest stalactite in the world. the scale is hard to convey in a picture:
it was really cool! literally and figuratively. also a pleasant 95% humidity which i needed because it was SO DRY the whole time i was there.
on saturday morning i lit out from the west and dropped my car off at the airport, then got a taxi to the hotel to meet up for the rest of my harries for breakfast. @papiermachecat did a great job of summarizing that except she left me out, which i'm not bitter about at all. lol.
marathon did a great job of organizing all of us to get to and from slane. here is an employee manning the coach pickup:
here's mitch opening!
annie mac in the "rain"!
wet leg!
inhaler!
and our boy!
it's hard to convey the size of the crowd. i took some pictures, but i'm sure you've seen overhead shots that are much better. knowing about the historical nature of slane shows ... i'm so glad i got to be there with some of my very best fandom friends. also, much like the men of easy company would say, "at least it's not bastogne" whenever they had a cold winter, after every trek home post-show we can all say "at least it's not slane."
the day after the show, @chasm2018, @aggresivelyfriendly, and i walked around dublin. we had dinner at the bank which was cool, and i got some very good fish and chips:
dublin put on a show for us, sunny and warm:
we tried to find ice cream and failed:
but eventually ended up at instagrammable cloud nine and it was very good, will try the gelato in july. no pics, because ice cream.
one environmentally regrettable thing about the impact of the 2021 grammy outfit are the molting boas. here is the day-after shot of where the coaches let us off in dublin:
after a final breakfast at our hotel (my eggs florentine below), we took a (delayed) flight to london.
my relationship with london is .... like yes, there are cool old buildings but i hate the monarchy? the one thing i wanted to do in london besides see harry was go to the british museum, which we did on our off-day. anyway. @chasm2018 and i stayed at an airbnb in fitzrovia. we had a late lunch/early dinner at wahaca (yes i know) which was surprisingly good! the rainbow bowl:
(i took a lot of food pictures for my dad and sisters, so this is what you get too i guess.)
me in front of wembley!
wembley 1 saw us in bishopsgate, which was a much smaller pod than at slane. @chasm2018 and i helped to remove an interloper (some guy who was being obnoxious and bragging about sneaking into the pod who didn't end up having a ticket at all?). look don't brag about sneaking in AND be obnoxious.
harry was incredible, of course, and when i have the energy to go through the pictures on my camera (this is ALL from my phone) i will share those with you.
london was done up for pride month:
on wednesday, @chasm2018 and i got bottomless chai (chocolate chai pictured) at dishoom and gorged on indian food.
also apparently that night (or the next? idk) my platonic baseball soulmate spent 3 hours behind olivia in line for that restaurant. she was offered a pass to go to the front of the line but refused it! what a woman.
idk what this was but it looked neat and that far building looks suspiciously like the dorm in maynooth that looks like a prison on the inside.
for wednesday's show i had seats with my friend from the leadership conference i do in ireland, so i entered separately and hanging out by the red zone was this guy
our boy was ALSO great during night 2, from the seats:
he played love of my life and i just love YELLING that at him!!!! from the seats I got a better idea of just how fucking massive the crowd is, and how full of love the stadium is when he plays. more of that later.
post-show activities included leftover indian (wow was it spicier) and harry talking to zane lowe about absolutely nothing.
thursday we had afternoon tea at the savoy (fucking delicious) with @accidentalharrie and went to the british museum to see things stolen from other places. this included THE rosetta stone (wild) and bits of the parthenon.
i really do love a greek vase!!! they can be so funny, like this one with drunk satyrs:
on the reverse is a .... kylix-stand?
she!
by friday, the hay fever had put me into quite a state. i was a bit of a drag!! we walked around the tower of london and westminster abbey. goddddddd i hate tourists so much.
here's white tower, the oldest bit of the tower of london, built by william the conqueror. my 27th great grandfather invaded england with william, so we're like family. lol.
notice not a cloud in the sky. so much sun and no rain which means .... every bit of pollen was in the air, wreaking havoc.
and i'm out of room for photos, so hang on for part 2.

What's the three best and three worst places you've been?
I assume this is like, cities, and not, you know, prison.
Cities to which I very likely can and will return someday I enjoyed them so much:
London, UK
Boston, USA
Minneapolis, USA
Glasgow, UK (I know this is four I know I know shut up)
Cities where I am unlikely ever to darken their door except by absolute necessity:
St. Louis, USA
Cambridge, UK
Atlanta, USA
I enjoy so many more places than I do not enjoy, and this was shockingly hard for me in the positive to narrow it down to three. I have friends outside of London and Boston, and so I had to think carefully on whether or not that affected my answer. I enjoy seeing them, and so that's always a positive.
So, what cities would I return to outside of getting to see a single person I know? The other problem with this is I'll go almost fucking anywhere, I am a very adaptable person and find many ways to have a good time. Even NYC, which was very very hard for me the first time I went, I think I've figured out how to have a great time there. So even my bottom of the barrel, given a cheap and easy chance, I'd probably give another shot, just with knowing what I know now and trying to massage the things I didn't like.
London: Samuel Johnson said that when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life, and that's remained true for me. Not only is there a lot to do--this is true of many big cities--but the vibe of the city is much more low to the ground is the only way I can think of to say it, compared to NYC and LA, both of which genuinely have a lot offer but feel extremely frenetic to me in a way London does not. Narrowly beat out Paris simply because the subway is better than Paris'. Also it is I think more chill than Paris, but I sort of like the ways Paris is out of its mind.
Boston: This is another one I would call "Low to the ground" in a way that I think makes no sense to anyone but me. It feels like people live in Boston. Also I eat my weight in oysters at least once a trip. Great food scene on both expensive and cheap ends.
Minneapolis: The whole world is sleeping on Minneapolis. They have a rapidly growing food scene, great craft beer scene, the sculpture park is immense amounts of fun even in winter (a/n: I am cold-hardy), and minnesota nice is a REAL thing. We walked into a brewery and were standing at the counter, I said something offhandedly to Jetty about how it was real wet and cold out that day, and the guy at the counter was like, "Oh you don't have to buy a beer just to get out of the cold! Go ahead." I wanted the beer, mind, but I thought the attitude was great. We went to a piano bar that made its own mini pop tarts that were shockingly great, also go to Black Sheep Coal Fired for pizza.
Glasgow: I will spend the rest of my natural life trying to talk people into going to Glasgow, and probably fail because everyone wants to go fucking Edinburgh because it's instagrammable and ~'arry Potter~ and whatever. Anyhow, I did not hate Edinburgh at all despite that bitter little screed, but much like Minneapolis, people are sleeping on Glasgow. Great boutique hotels at extremely fair prices, amazing Indian food (Dishoom did beat Mother India out, but damn is it close as fuck, and Ashoka won for me for casual Indian), and again, like Minneapolis: The people. Are so. Nice. Legit if I had left my passport on a bus in any other city I feel I would have been fucked, but on a weekend, the bus system and the extremely nice people at the coffee shop were all working to try and get it back to me (and we did!) And the gal at our little hotel took time to chat with us every evening (full disclosure: She was Irish, and when she found out we were from a rural part of America, she spent so so much time trying to talk us into rural Ireland for our next trip, because we'd love the vibe of it. Someday), and I had the ABSOLUTE WORST old fashioned of my life made by the most amazingly kind woman in history, and I drank the whole thing and thanked her profusely. The pub near our hotel was incredible and homey (little boutique hotels are in neighborhoods there. Fantastic.) Glaswegians GET THEIR PARTY ON EARLY, mind.

2022: Yearly Round-Up
First things first: Happy New Year!!! Look at you, you made it through to tell the tale! And what a year 2022 was! For me, the highs were very euphoric, and the lows were the absolute worst. From January 2022, I wished the year would just end already. I had a very painful start to the year. In February, my only surviving grandmother passed away, and the day I got the news will go down as one of the worst days of my life. I miss my gogo dearly, but I’m also happy she is finally resting. The last long conversation I had with her was very deep, and left me inspired to live a life she would be proud of.
This was also the year we experienced devaluation, inflation, a fuel crisis, persistent blackouts and the list goes on and on. I couldn’t have picked the worst time to move out. Prices skyrocketed, and Little Miss Independent here called mum, dad, and her big sister Charity when she met any inconvenience (baby steps, guys, baby steps). But despite all that, I have really enjoyed living alone and the peace that comes with it. Honestly, it is not as scary as most people portray it. I truly love it here - highly recommend.
The good parts were really good, too. I loved quality time with family and friends, and the wins were nothing short of miracles. I significantly reduced the time I spent on some social media sites and deleted some apps while at it, and I'm glad I did. I also had a fairly great year at work, mainly because I enjoy the work I do, and I am surrounded by some really awesome workmates. It was a year of lessons, too. The biggest lesson is that when God says His mercies are new every morning? He means just that! That He loves you unconditionally? Never ever doubt it. I am walking into 2023 with all the lessons in mind and asking for God’s grace to take me through.
So, as per tradition, before we move on completely, here is my round-up for the year 2022:
Top 5 places visited:
1. Zomba Mountain - William Falls and Songani Lookout
Took a hike very early on in January, and got to see the amazing William Falls and went all the way to Songani Lookout with my girls. Zomba views will never ever get old.
2. Rumphi
This year was my first time going up north beyond the city of Mzuzu. All I can say is, the north really is underrated. I went all the way to Karonga, and Chiweta was a marvel. This was a work trip so I didn’t get to do much, but it just made me itch for a proper Rumphi trip. I have always wanted to visit Mushroom Farm and Nyika Plateau… What I saw of Rumphi made me realise this is one of the most beautiful districts in Malawi (by far, too!).
Photo credits: Adventures with Colby, and Herman Is Out of The Office
3. Makokola Retreat
I remember going to Makokola Retreat when we were younger during school holidays (called Club Makokola back then). When I visited this year, I felt so nostalgic! It is still as amazing as it was, and I’m so glad the standard keeps going up. This is truly one of Mangochi’s finest establishments.
4. Kefi Hotel Café
The newest Instagrammable location in my beautiful hometown! Kefi is located near the Zomba Botanical Gardens. They have really great food, and I love that they maintained the good old Zomba colonial style exterior and blended it with aesthetic interior design. I truly enjoyed the calm and quiet here.
I don’t know if you can just show up now, but last I checked, you have to book ahead, so plan accordingly if you ever want to visit.
5. Maravi Coffee
I finally fulfilled my promise to check out this place inside the Nature Sanctuary, right in City Centre. Such a cosy place, surrounded by trees and cheeky monkeys. For a second, you forget you are in the middle of dusty Lilongwe.
Top books Read
Let me not even lie guys, I did not read enough interesting books to come up with a list for this year’s round-up. What I did do though, was get into podcasts so that’s how I am making up for not coming up with a list of my top reads.
Fav Podcasts
I discovered that a very great way to spend time in slow Lilongwe traffic is a good ol’ dramatic story by Wondery! Wondery is by far, my fav publisher of podcasts. The drama. The scandals. The history lessons – oooh yes!
Here are my favourites, with my personal rating
American Scandal:
Edward Snowden (4/5)
Watergate (3/5)
The Clinton-Lewinsky Affair (4/5)
Tuskegee Syphilis Study (5/5!)
British Scandal:
Spy Cops (5/5)
The Coughing Major (5/5)
The Litvinenko Affair (3/5)
The Canoe Con (5/5!!!!)
The Murdoch Phone Hacking (3.5/5)
Business Wars:
McDonald's vs Burger King (4/5)
15 songs that were stuck on replay in 2022
Since Spotify decided to discriminate us this year and not give us our well deserved Wrapped, I had to come up with this list manually, so I hope I'm not too far off.
The one thing I have loved about this year is the amount of Malawians putting out quality music on streaming platforms. It gives me so much hope for what's to come.
1. Jehova – Ryan Ofei
2. Somebody Knows – ELI-J
3. The Commission – CAIN
4. Bwenzi Langa – Free Worship Malawi, Simplice Bless
5. He’ll Be There – Lynual Younce
6. I Am Yours – Terry Clark
7. Standing By The Bedside – Cox Family
8. Shall Not Want – Elevation Worship, Maverick City Music, Chandler Moore
9. There Was Jesus – CAIN
10. No Words (ft. Leon Timbo) - Jason Nelson
11. Never Lost - CeCe Winans
12. You're Gonna Be Okay - Jenn Johnson
13. Capable God - Judikay
14. You I Live For - Moses Bliss
15. Alipo - Kelvin Sings, Beracah (why is this song so short tho? 🥺)
You can find this playlist on Spotify
Honourable mentions - songs I replayed on YouTube:
https://youtu.be/oF7EUyQArPQ
https://youtu.be/WZAzTGsEnHI
https://youtu.be/PJDRmhaPAaQ
And that’s it! I wish you a great new year, until the next round-up, God willing, enjoy 2023!
-Fai

daniel kalama. twenty-two. staff (performer) at the haus.
daniel was born in kailua-kona, a mostly indigenous/samoan community that’s better known as “kona town,” a big commercial center of hawaii – and, therefore, full to the brimm with intruding turists. despite his father owning a big hotel in the area that capitalized on that very fact, daniel learned about his mother’s samoan origins and what that meant for him, and became to dislike how exploitative his father’s company felt. it attracted people with colonialism in their eyes, who talked and treated their culture and land like some cutesy healing rituals and a instagrammable vacation spot, instead of a system of pacifist beliefs and a lifestyle of living in harmony with the earth beneath you.
however, one thing that he always enjoyed in his father’s hotel was the performances that they’d put on for the turists. not all of them followed properly the spiritual beliefs that his mother passed down to him, but they were always entertaining, besides visually stunning, and he began to partake on them around his teenage years, loving how it felt to put on a show and be applauded for it. he took a liking to it, and planned on launching himself as an actor in new york. his dad didn’t like the idea; he was supposed to take on the company. after an hectic dicussion where he laid bare why he hated the company, he had essentially been disowned in his father’s eyes. his mother, always a wonderful woman, wished him good luck and a lot of strength, with a big hug. she sang him to sleep, and he was off to the big apple.
unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned - it turns out he wasn’t that good acting as much he was performing, but, by the time he realized that, money was running out. learning about nyc’s world of sex work, he picked up a job as an dancer in a strip club, unsure of what his next step should be, and was then discovered by a high member of the resort.

Cafe Edition: Stylenanda Pink Hotel and Pink Pool Cafe
🇰🇷 스타일난다 핑크풀카페
📍Hongdae: 335-21 Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul
📍Myeongdong: 66-2 Chungmu-ro2ga, Jung-gu, Seoul
📆 Year-round, best to visit during weekdays soon after opening. The Hongdae location is nearby Hongik University Station, and the cafe fills with students at lunch time.
Stylenanda
Stylenanda is a Korean fashion and beauty brand which began in 2004. Now owned by L’Oreal, the make-up division is the popular 3CE.
Stylenanda have two cafes - the Pink Pool Cafe located in Hongdae and Pink Hotel in Myeongdong. Both cafes are bright, pink, and thoroughly Instagrammable.
Pink Hotel Myeongdong
The Pink Hotel is located in the bustling shopping district of Myeongdong in Seoul. Myeongdong is crammed with department stores, independent retailers, restaurants, and cafes.
Stylenanda Pink Hotel is on six floors, and despite the name it is not actually a hotel; it’s a fashion retail store and cafe.
Exterior of Pink Hotel, Myeongdong (source)
The theme of both cafes is, obviously, pool and hotel related. Everything is made to look just like 1950s vintage pool decor - from the changing rooms made to look like showers, to the pool rules adorning the walls, to the umbrellas over the seating.
(source)
(source)
The menu is filled with sweet fare, such as cotton candy coffee (which I’ve actually had here in Melbourne, it’s amazing).
(source)
Stylenanda Pink Pool Cafe Hongdae
The location in Hongdae is much larger and grander than Myeongdong, and is the one with the pool! According to There She Goes Again, it is the one where you can most sit down, relax and take in the atmosphere.
The Hongdae location is much larger and more spacious, but keeps with the same vibe. (source)
The pool, sadly, is not for swimming, even dipping in your toes. It’s purely decoration. (source)
(source)
Either location would be amazing to visit and take photos!

Transform Your Space with a Shimmer Wall A Complete Guide
When it comes to elevating your event décor or adding a statement piece to your home or business, a shimmer wall can work wonders. These stunning, reflective surfaces have taken the design world by storm, offering an eye-catching backdrop for all occasions. Whether you’re hosting a wedding, launching a product, or looking to add some glamour to your interiors, a shimmer wall could be just the touch you need. This blog will explore everything you need to know about shimmer walls, from their uses and types to how to install and maintain them.
What is a Shimmer Wall?
A shimmer wall is a backdrop or wall covering made from hundreds or thousands of small reflective discs. These discs move with air currents, creating a dazzling, shimmering effect that catches the light and adds motion to the display. Available in various colors and sizes, shimmer walls are versatile and can be tailored to fit different aesthetic styles.
Whether for an event, commercial space, or home décor, these walls create a sense of luxury and glam that’s hard to ignore.
Popular Uses of Shimmer Walls
Shimmer walls are incredibly versatile and can be used in various settings. Here are some of the most popular ways to incorporate them:
Event Backdrops: Perfect for weddings, parties, and corporate events, shimmer walls create a dynamic and glamorous background for photos or as a statement piece.
Commercial Spaces: Retail stores, hotels, and restaurants often use shimmer walls to draw attention to specific areas, like behind a reception desk or a window display.
Home Décor: A shimmer wall can serve as a feature wall in living rooms, dining areas, or bedrooms, adding an element of luxury to your home.
Social Media Moments: With the rise of Instagrammable spaces, shimmer walls have become popular for creating photogenic spots in cafes, bars, or at events, ensuring your space gets shared online.
Types of Shimmer Walls
There are several types of shimmer walls to choose from, each offering a unique look and feel. Here are the most common types:
Sequin Shimmer Walls: Made from thousands of sequins, these walls are lightweight and flexible, creating a soft, flowing shimmer.
PVC Discs: These larger, more durable discs offer a bolder look and are often used in outdoor settings or commercial installations.
LED Shimmer Walls: Combine the sparkle of shimmer walls with integrated LED lighting for an even more captivating effect. These walls are perfect for nighttime events or indoor venues with low lighting.
Customizable Designs: Many shimmer walls can be customized with logos, text, or specific color schemes to match your event or brand.
How to Install a Shimmer Wall
Installing a shimmer wall might seem like a daunting task, but it can be quite simple with the right approach. Here’s a basic step-by-step guide:
Measure the Space: Determine the size of the wall or area where the shimmer wall will be installed.
Choose Your Materials: Select the type and color of shimmer wall that best suits your event or décor.
Prepare the Surface: Ensure that the surface is clean and flat before installation.
Mount the Panels: Most shimmer walls come in pre-assembled panels that can be easily attached to the wall using adhesive strips, hooks, or screws.
Finish the Edges: Once all the panels are in place, you can add trim or framing to give the wall a polished look.
Maintaining Your Shimmer Wall
Maintenance for shimmer walls is minimal, but there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure they stay looking their best:
Dusting: Regularly dust the surface to keep it free from dirt and debris.
Spot Cleaning: For any marks or stains, a damp cloth with mild soap can be used to wipe down the discs gently.
Repairing Panels: Over time, some discs may become loose. If this happens, simply replace or reattach the discs to restore the shimmer.
Conclusion
A shimmer wall is a fantastic way to add a touch of elegance and glamour to any space. Whether you’re planning a wedding, updating your commercial décor, or simply looking to make a statement in your home, these versatile, reflective walls will create a visual spectacle that leaves a lasting impression. With various types and easy installation, a shimmer wall could be just what you need to take your décor to the next level.
