Here's a little something eclectic: some obscure and less popular Disney characters. How many can you recognize?
Horace Horsecollar, specifically his incarnation from the never-made TV series Maximum Horsepower. This series was proposed in the 90s for the Disney Afternoon, but was never greenlit. It's too bad; I think it would have been a really fun series. Here's the original pitch reel by Tad Stones (creator of Darkwing Duck).
Gopher, from Winnie the Pooh. Prior to his cameo in 2023's Once Upon a Studio, Gopher's last animated appearance was in 2005 in Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie (and even then, it was only archive footage from 1996's Boo to You Too!). Gopher's only other appearances were in the Kingdom Hearts games. I'm not sure why Disney used him less and less, but it's nice to see he wasn't entirely forgotten.
Stinky Pete (The Prospector) from Toy Story 2. Pete was never exactly my favorite character as a kid, but some time ago I heard that there was an old character interview where Pete claims that he's happy with his new owner Amy, and really enjoys her decorating his face. I think it's the most adorable thing ever and I'm glad I finally got around to drawing it. (I've tried to find this interview, and I could have sworn I saw it years and years ago, but the only one I can find is this one where he's his child-hating self from the movie.)
Gurgi, from The Black Cauldron. I loved him as a kid, and that feeling never went away as I grew up. He is a brave and loyal friend and deserves all the munchies and crunchies in the world.
Buzzy, from the former EPCOT attraction Cranium Command. I unfortunately never got to experience this attraction (or even EPCOT in its prime). The attraction closed in 2007, and sat abandoned for years. The animatronic of Buzzy was reported missing in 2018, with little explanation of what happened to him. Here's a couple of fun videos on the subject. #JusticeForBuzzy
Terry and Keiko (the video chat friends) from the 1994 Jeremy Irons iteration of Spaceship Earth in EPCOT. I don't expect many people to recognize these characters, as they were removed in 2007. They weren't even moving animatronics, just still figures. But I think their friendship is super adorable, and it's neat to imagine technology that can instantly and accurately translate your dialogue into a foreign language. You can see Terry and Keiko here (at 12:23).

There's this one theory that Undertale's "HP" usage stands for "HOPE". It's been a thing for years, and honestly?
I'm sorta indifferent about the idea, leaning on disagreeing.
Sure, there's the LV = LOVE thing, but LOVE also stands for Level Of ViolEnce, something with an entirely different meaning.
The UNDERTALE DEMO INSTRUCTION MANUAL refers to HP, ATK/AT, and DEF/DF as HIT POINTS, Attack, and Defense respectively, yet keeps the LV = LOVE bit. (I guess you could excuse it with something that could be changed with the full release. But why change it if it never actually comes up mentioned in game?)
The most alternative names of HP we get in game are Horsepower and Hit Poodles, from Aaron and the Dog Salad respectively.
Sure, the idea SOUNDS cool, and it KINDA lines up with the fact that two other acronyms that are used in game (if you excuse others like AT, DF, and INV (the most we get from that one is "invulnerable"))
And it COULD be used for some cool fan stuff (though, the most I've seen from it is it being used as some sort of depresso explanation for Sans's 1 HP)
But it's hard to agree with imo

HELLO SPONTANEOUS PART 2 TO MANLY STEVE (inspired by the fact my dad is working on one of his classic cars rn)
One day once Steve and Eddie are dating, Steve buys himself a real junker of a car, from the 50s, barely working, missing wheels, broken down, and they keep it parked behind the Munson's new trailer.
And Steve is determined to fix it up. Rebuild the body, fix the engine, redo the interior. Really get his hands on it, fix it, make it his.
His father liked cars, but only if they were new, expensive, and he didn't have to touch the engine. He'd brag about horsepower, and top speed, but fixing it and changing the oil was blue collar work and "below him". Steve likes getting hands on, physical work, finding a problem and working around it.
So he spends hours tinkering with it, finding new parts, and Eddie and Wayne join him. Eddie taking all the knowledge his father gave him of hotwiring and stripping cars for parts and using it productively. Making it a happy memory. So of course Wayne is there. Getting as involved as he can when Eddie keeps reminding him to take it easy, dont get hurt, they can share the work. (Wayne's car knowledge is a big help)
I just!!!!! Them forming this new loving family unit and working to create something together
Momo I’m so sorry I’m so late getting back to you!!
I LOVE your ideas, as always.
What about Steve, Eddie and Wayne going off in Eddie’s van to scope out scrap yards/used parts. They make a day off it every month or second month, touring round their usual spots. Eddie elbow deep in a pile of parts when he he hears Wayne’s slow and steady drawl that cuts through the noise of the yard
‘Boys, think I found somethin’
Eddie sidles up, looking over Wayne’s shoulder when Steve approaches from the opposite side. Wayne just raises an eyebrows and points with his cigarette to an old piece of kit that’s seen better days but by Steve’s reaction you’d think he’d just been handed seventeen babies, a station wagon and a family home to house them all.
It’s the piece Steve had been looking for for god knows how long. Only thing is, it’s more expensive than it has any right to be. They only find this out after Steve takes it up to the owner to ask thr price. His face falls, dreams of finishing their project car dashed. He tries not to let it show, just gives a tight lipped smile and walks away, hands in pockets.
Both Eddie and Wayne catch each others eyes, theirs heads come together, seeing if there’s a solution. They know they can’t afford it themselves, no chance, they are just managing bills and food as it is, disposable income a rarity. Eddie has an idea though, he asks Steve to let him and wayne contribute towards the cost, knowing that between the three of them and some sweet talking to the yard owner into a payment plan (Wayne has some long running connections that he’s not shy of exploiting when it comes to his boys). It’s not easy, Steve outright refuses at first, saying that he could never take that from Eddie and Wayne, that they don’t need to pander to him. There’s sle loud ones, some angry ones too.
But it’s Wayne’s stern eye and explanation that ‘Steve, son, we’ve put some hours into this thing too. Don’t you think we want to see it done?’
They all know wayne is just giving Steve an out but they don’t mention it, don’t even vaguely acknowledge it. When Steve is sitting in the back of Eddie’s van, bright smile on his face as he cradled the hunk of metal in his arms he’s so grateful he thinks his heart might burst. He doesn’t catch it, too busy staring at the cold object in his lap but Eddie and Wayne share a look, one of pride. They can’t give much, not like what Steve is used to, but what they can give means so much more and that’s evident on Steve’s face.

Americans traditionally measure the fuel economy of their cars in miles per gallon. Europeans tend to use liters/100 km. Americans not only use their customary unit rather than metric, but also have a measurement that is reciprocal to the European one. (To convert one to the other, divide 235.215 by the number you already have – although official stats may still not be comparable, because the U.S. and Europe use different test-routines to determine city/highway mileage. FWIW, I’ve heard that both U.S. and European tests are too optimistic about fuel economy compared to the real world, but European tests are a little more optimistic and further from reality.)
I think metric is better in general (but Europeans really should have done liters/1000 km! Then their measurements would have two digits of precision for typical modern sedans, crossovers, and such without going past a decimal point, plus 10^6 m is a better metric distance standard than 10^5 m.), but fuel per distance and distance per fuel both have arguments in their favor: do you want to know how far you can go on a tank of gas (American), or how much gas you’ll need to go a given distance (European)? Is it better to have bigger numbers be better, so good fuel economy is viscerally impressive in the same way as high horsepower (American), or is it better to have a number directly proportional to fuel consumption, so it’s obvious that going from 12 L/100km to 6 L/100km is twice as important as going from 6L/100km to 3L/100 km, whereas in the American system it’s less readily apparent that going from 19 MPG to 38 MPG saves twice as much fuel as going from 38 to 76 MPG? (assuming constant distances) I think the European system of volume over distance is probably somewhat more sensible on the whole, but not as clearcut as the metric vs customary issue.
What strikes me as interesting, though, is to consider the European system: liters per 100 km. That’s volume – x^3 – over distance – x. Phrased like that, you can see the immediate temptation: what if we reduce x^3/x to x^2? Now our units of fuel economy are in area. If we have a vehicle that uses 6 L/100 Km, we can phrase that as 6 * 10^-3 m^3 / 10^5 m, which is 6 * 10^-8 m^2, about 6% of a square millimeter.
Does that actually mean anything, though, or is it just an artifact of misused dimensional analysis, like claiming that torque can be measured in joules because newtons * meters = joules, when really torque just isn’t energy? I think the area measurement of fuel economy actually does have a physical interpretation: if you were driving, and a tiny filament of liquid gasoline with this cross-sectional area traced your route, then that filament of gasoline would be approximately enough fuel for your trip.
I can’t think of a physically intuitive explanation of what the dimensionally-reduced American measure of efficiency (reciprocal area) is, though.

Tuned Skyline from TOMITA AUTO
“Tommykaira M30 & M20 Evolution” released. This car has already been released as Tommykaira M30 & M20. The M30 is a 3-liter model and the M20 is a 2-liter model.
Tommykaira M30&M20 Evolution has been released by Tomita Auto. Here, let's focus on the M20 and introduce the evolved form that lives up to its name.
Before we talk about the Evolution, let's first add a little explanation about the M20. The base vehicle is the Skyline GTS-t, and the suspension and engine are tuned based on this. However, with regard to the engine, the minimum tuning is a self-imposed task, and basically only the engine control unit and the intercooler have been replaced. Furthermore, even the muffler has not been modified for boost pressure.
With this basic tuning menu, it delivers a maximum output of 250ps/6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 28.0kgm. Suspension changes include strut tower bars, Nismo dampers, reinforced springs, and reinforced stabilizers.
In addition, it is equipped with original aluminum road wheels (7JJ x 16), aero parts, steering, and shift knob (this is also Tommykaira's identity).
The Evolution is characterized by changes to the exterior design based on the M20. Fluid form is adopted for the front and rear spoilers, and the know-how for the rear spoiler has been cultivated in the touring car race Gr A M3. It has movable flaps.
The test car also had two Recaro bucket seats, an exhaust temperature gauge, an inside/outside temperature gauge, and an oil temperature gauge were added to the center console, and the speedometer was also replaced with a 300km/h scale.
By the way, the running of the M20, which exerts 250 horsepower, is quite impressive.
PIC CAPTIONS
In addition to the conventional Tommy Kaira stripe on the side, a new "Tommy kaira" decal is also adopted. You can choose either. The fluid front spoiler is designed with the trends of the times in mind.
The rear spoiler adopts a "movable flap" that makes use of Gr.A's know-how.
The engine is a 1988cc water-cooled in-line 6-cylinder turbo + intercooler.
The leather-wrapped shift knob emphasizes texture. A glimpse into Tommy Kaira's policy
Equipped with 3-piece aluminum road wheels as standard. The size is 7.0JJX16
FEEDBACK FROM THE RACE. MOVEABLE REAR SPOILER SHINES.
In particular, the feeling of torque from 4500 to 6500 rpm far surpasses that of the normal skyline, and the test drive on winding roads was all about the fun of drawing out that power.
The engine, which dislikes high-power machines that consume gasoline like hot water, and has been kept to a minimum of tuning, can certainly be increased in power by replacing the muffler and increasing the amount of fuel in the high rotation range. I think that especially at 7000-7500 rpm, I was puzzled at first because the power didn't follow, but the engine doesn't just run. If you run according to the characteristics of the engine, you can freely drive the car so that it hits the counter lightly when entering 3rd gear.
The engine has a power band of 4500-6800 rpm. 3000 rpm or less can not be used for anything other than running around the city. However, this is the same for normal cars. In this powerband, the 205/55R16 Botenza RE71 can take the slide wherever you want it.
What's more, the rear slide doesn't slide indiscriminately, and the tires are well in contact with the road surface even when pushing into corners. Basically, it has a very high stability, and even if you start sliding, the traction will be sideways.
I can't run away
If you apply power, you can drift freely, but if you change the way you drive and save your step on the accelerator, you can enjoy stable grip driving and enjoy fast driving.
For the M20 , it would be a mistake to stop at just talking about the engine. Mr. Kaira's magic as a tuner extends to suspension tuning. Suspensions with high roll stiffness probably use springs with fairly hard spring rates.
The reason why it's so comfortable and surprisingly comfortable is that it's done with straight springs. In the low-speed range, the shock when driving over rough roads is milder than that of a normal car, and the reaction force is stronger in proportion to the contraction of the spring.
The balance with the damping rate is something where you can feel the reaction force of the spring while running.
And, of course, the damper capacity must not be exceeded.
For example, when the accelerator is turned off, the rear end is swung with all one's might, the car changes direction, and the accelerator is turned on again to restore grip and go up a corner. I don't think so. The attitude of the car is very stable.
The response to steering is also accurate, and you can put the car on the line you want. The handling is slightly under-under, which is very close to neutral. Therefore, even if you push into a corner while gripping, you can feel that the rear suspension is firmly gripping the road surface, making it easy to determine the accelerator step and steering angle. To put it another way, you can get a clear picture of your current situation because you receive reliable information from your car.
The Skyline is a very well made car. That's why it's much more fun to ride a normal car than to do half-hearted tuning, but if you ask me, I want a little more power and torque. That makes running even more fun. Of course, the speed range will increase, so I would like to make some adjustments to the suspension. The M20 Evolution fulfills that desire at a very high level. Moreover, it comes with a nice bonus that it is legal. (Satoshi Saito)
The rear spoiler is based on feedback from touring car races that TOMITA Yume Factory participates in with the BMW-M3, making it even more powerful. 81 ■Collaboration with Tomita Auto Co., Ltd. TEL 075-461-6250 TEL 075-461-6290, Tokyo 03-3301-6121

I'm sorry I didn't get the pottokapower joke? Could you explain?
Kaixo anon!
They were advertising a car for die hard Basque nationalists, okay? It was called Niesan [mocking Nissan, but also meaning "I say" in Basque] Arana [the surname of the father of Basque nationalism, Sabino Arana].
Since it was SO nationalistic, it didn't have its engine measured in horsepower, but in pottokapower [pottoka is a Basque native horse breed].
The actors-writers of the first seasons of Vaya Semanita were SO witty. We also remember a sketch starring some characters called Los Santxez. They were a family formed by a middle-aged couple from Salamanca that had moved to Euskadi and had their kids here: one was an ertzaina and the other one was in the radical sphere, kale borroka, etc. Well, this last one brings his radical friends home and one of them finds an ashtray with the inscription "souvenir of Salamanca" and asks for an explanation as to why there was something Spanish there. The character says something like "I don't know man, that's my parents' stuff. They probably got it abroad, on a cruise or something".
The punch line isn't solely that Salamanca is abroad, but the cruise bit: it's a landlocked region.

How JATO’s Data Transforms the Car Buying Experience: A Deep Dive into Car Comparisons
Car specifications, or car specs, address the main specialized information that there is to be familiar with a vehicle. The vehicle specs list incorporates data about what the make and model year of a vehicle is, what the aspects are, what the motor sort and size are, what fuel framework and kind of transmission the vehicle utilizes, how quick it is, and some more, that each driver would need to be aware. Specifications for dimensions Layered particulars uncover subtleties like the vehicle's length, width, level, wheelbase, ground leeway, and boot space, which all fundamentally let us know how huge a vehicle is. Weight can likewise be credited to this classification of specs.
Two sorts of weight are remembered for the information sheet - kerb and gross. The previous alludes to vehicle's weight with every one of its parts and basically the insignificant measure of consumables (oils, different liquids, and fuel) required for the vehicle to work, yet without any travelers and freight, while the last option incorporates the most extreme load of travelers and freight, also. Specifications of the engine Because a car's engine is unquestionably its most crucial component, understanding its technical characteristics is essential.
The main characteristics of an engine are its type—petrol, diesel, electric, or hybrid—cylinder number and position, engine displacement—the volume of the cylinders—its output—the amount of horsepower and torque it can produce—aspiration—whether it is turbocharged or naturally aspirated—and the kind of fuel system. Additionally, numerous additional explanations of the engine's operation may be provided. Drivetrain, brakes, and suspension details We can confidently classify the components that transfer engine power to the wheels, making the vehicle actually move, as the second most important part of every car. The vehicle's transmission type (manual or automatic, number of gears, etc.), suspension type (the system that connects the car's body to its wheels), and brake type and size are all shown in this category. Fundamental brake types are two - drum and circle, the last option being undeniably more present day and ordinarily utilized. Whether the engine powers the vehicle's front (front-wheel drive), rear (rear-wheel drive), or all four wheels (all-wheel drive, 4x4, etc.) is also shown by the drivetrain characteristics.
Car comparison: Vehicle correlation devices go past posting highlights. They permit possible purchasers to investigate the different choices, varieties, and bundles accessible for each model. This indicates that a buyer can seamlessly experiment with various specifications in accordance with their preferences, financial constraints, and the current market. Safety features (parking sensors, lane assist, etc.), according to JATO's recent research, are the most popular additions when budget permits. As a result, a car comparison tool that enables customers to compare safety features from a variety of manufacturers can improve the customer experience. Offering elevated degrees of customisation and direct admittance to data gives the vehicle purchaser more power, guaranteeing that the last buy lines up with their inclinations and prerequisites.
JATO Specifications data : Particulars provide you with an exhaustive oversight of the worldwide auto commercial center. We gather information from a variety of reputable sources, bringing you all of the most recent and accurate information about both current and historical models in a single location. Specifications is a vehicle feature comparison tool that lets you compare important vehicle information. We monitor a wide range of options, technologies, and features, including: Costs of automobiles Options Dimensions and mass Powertrains   Features  Options' prices Warranty  Taxes  Information pertaining to the technical Programming drove highlights
Speedy admittance to finish and precise vehicle determinations is important for the overwhelming majority organizations in the car and united enterprises. First, I want to make it clear that "vehicle specifications" can be divided into multiple categories. Specifications for "operation" and/or "performance" vehicles, such as engine and transmission, standard and optional equipment, fuel economy, exterior and interior colors, and so on, may be sought by some businesses while others may be looking for "construction" vehicle specifications. Notwithstanding which vehicle specs your business is hoping to recognize, looking over OEM sites, vehicle manuals, or even your own interior administration framework/DMS frequently includes more exertion than time permits. This is where VIN disentangling proves to be useful. Recognizing vehicle specs by VIN number with the utilization of a VIN interpreting arrangement is great for organizations working with a few vehicle makes and models.

there are some terms within the english vocabulary that continuously remind me that we're a species of silly simpletons
like horsepower being an actual unit of measurement. when humans invented the engine, we really couldn't think of better technological terminology? only how it compares to horse? no? ok.
or not having any better word for someone who passed by you other than literally "passerby (or passersby for plural)"
or "w" being pronounced "double-u". needs no explanation on how it is silly.
like we really are so silly and simple sometimes

Colossal Claude
Oregon's arguably most famous sea monster, Colossal Claude, has appeared in or near the Columbia River.
The crew of the Columbia River lightship saw Claude in 1934. A few of them wanted to lower a rowboat to get a closer look. The ship's officers nixed the idea for fear that it would attack the boat. L. A. Larson, the lightship's mate, described Claude as having "a mean looking tail and an evil, snaky look to its head."
The lightship's crew saw Claude many times over the years. In fact, it's widely believed that it was they who named the creature.
In 1937, Claude was spotted by the crew of the trawler Viv. Capt. Charles Graham describe it as a "long, hairy, tan colored creature with the head of an overgrown horse, about 40 feet long, and with a 4-foot waist measure."
Capt. Charles Anderson of the fishing schooner Arpo reported an encounter with Claude at the mouth of the Columbia. As Anderson told it, Claude was covered with grey fur, and had a camel-like head with "glassy eyes and a bent snout," which it used to remove a twenty-pound halibut off the Arpo's fishing line.
For some reason, Claude disappeared sometime in the 1950s. Many Columbia River regulars assumed the animal had either died or moved on. After a strange incident in September 1989, however, some old timers began to wonder if Claude hadn't returned.
One Donald Riswick, joined by a friend, took his twenty-eight-foot fishing boat to the Shoo Fly drift, just east of Astoria, for some gillnetting.
After an hour and a half for trailing a net several hundred feet in length, they began reeling it in with a motorized winch. Suddenly, the net caught on something that was either stationary or pulling against the winch. This was exceptionally odd since the water here was eighty feet deep, and the net was only about thirty-four feet underwater. Theoretically, there shouldn't have been anything there for it to snag onto or to pull it with such force. Try as they might, they couldn't get it unstuck, and as the winch continued reeling, the bow began sinking.
Riswick quickly ran to the controls and opened up the boat's throttle. It's 225-horsepower engine roared to life, finally pulling the net free. Riswick and his assistant finished reeling in the net and found that a large hole had been ripped in it.
This incident surely has a logical explanation, whatever it may be. Given the circumstances, however, a tug-of-war between fishermen and sea monster may be as reasonable a possibility as any!

10 Advanced Analytical Techniques You Can Perform in R Assignments
R is the most popular and commonly used statistical software performing statistical calculations and graphical visualizations in the sphere of data analysis and research. For students, learning R and its powerful techniques can immensely help to conduct data research in their coursework and assignments. This guide explains the 10 most complex analysis that one can perform in R with examples and coding illustrations.
Tumblr media
Get started.
1. Linear Regression
Linear regression is one of the most basic techniques of statistical modeling. It quantifies the relation between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(ggplot2)
# Sample data
data(mtcars)
# Perform linear regression
model <- lm(mpg ~ wt + hp, data = mtcars)
# Summary of the model
summary(model)
Explanation:
In this example, we use the mtcars dataset to perform a linear regression where mpg (miles per gallon) is the dependent variable, and wt (weight) and hp (horsepower) are the independent variables. The summary function provides detailed statistics about the model.
2. Logistic Regression
Logistic regression is used for problems involving binary classification. It estimates the probability of an event belonging to one of two possible classes based on one or more predictor variables.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(MASS)
# Sample data
data(Pima.tr)
# Perform logistic regression
logit_model <- glm(type ~ npreg + glu + bp, data = Pima.tr, family =
binomial)
# Summary of the model
summary(logit_model)
Explanation:
Using the Pima.tr dataset from the MASS package, we perform logistic regression to predict diabetes (type) based on predictors like the number of pregnancies (npreg), glucose
concentration (glu), and blood pressure (bp).
3. Time Series Analysis
The process of time series analysis focuses on observation of data that is chronological in nature to understand the patterns and forecast values.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(forecast)
# Generate sample time series data
set.seed(123)
ts_data <- ts(rnorm(100), frequency = 12)
# Perform time series analysis
fit <- auto.arima(ts_data)
# Forecast future values
forecast(fit, h = 12)
Explanation:
We generate random time series data and use the auto.arima function from the forecast package to fit an ARIMA model, which is then used to forecast future values.
4. Clustering Analysis
Cluster Analysis groups data points together on the basis of similarities between the points. K-means clustering is one of the most used clustering techniques.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(cluster)
# Sample data
data(iris)
# Perform K-means clustering
set.seed(123)
kmeans_result <- kmeans(iris[, -5], centers = 3)
# Plot the clusters
clusplot(iris[, -5], kmeans_result$cluster, color = TRUE, shade = TRUE)
Explanation:
We use the iris dataset and perform K-means clustering to group the data into three clusters. The clusplot function visualizes the clusters.
5. Principal Component Analysis (PCA)
PCA serves to minimize the dimensions of data and at the same time retain as much variation of the data as possible. It is helpful to visualize data with high dimensionality.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(stats)
# Sample data
data(iris)
# Perform PCA
pca_result <- prcomp(iris[, -5], center = TRUE, scale. = TRUE)
# Plot the PCA
biplot(pca_result, scale = 0)
Explanation:
Using the iris dataset, we perform PCA and visualize the principal components using a biplot. This helps in understanding the variance explained by each principal component.
6. Survival Analysis
Survival analysis is concerned with the time to an event or until the event occurs. It is widely applied in medical studies.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(survival)
# Sample data
data(lung)
# Perform survival analysis
 surv_fit <- survfit(Surv(time, status) ~ sex, data = lung)
# Plot the survival curve
plot(surv_fit, col = c("red", "blue"), lty = 1:2, xlab = "Time", ylab =
"Survival Probability")
Explanation:
Using the lung dataset, we perform survival analysis and plot the survival curves for different sexes using the survfit function.
7. Bayesian Analysis
One of the most used techniques in AI is Bayesian analysis which involves using prior knowledge along with new data to update probabilities.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(rjags)
# Define the model
model_string <- "
  model {
    for (i in 1:N) {
      y[i] ~ dnorm(mu, tau)
    }
    mu ~ dnorm(0, 0.001)
    tau <- 1 / sigma^2
    sigma ~ dunif(0, 100)
  }
"
# Sample data
data <- list(y = rnorm(100, mean = 5, sd = 2), N = 100)
# Compile the model
model <- jags.model(textConnection(model_string), data = data, n.chains =
3)
# Perform MCMC sampling
samples <- coda.samples(model, variable.names = c("mu", "sigma"), n.iter =
1000)
# Summary of the results
summary(samples)
Explanation:
We define a Bayesian model using JAGS and perform MCMC sampling to estimate the parameters. This approach is powerful for incorporating prior beliefs and handling complex models.
8. Decision Trees
Decision tree is a non-parametric model applied in classification and regression analysis. They divided the data into subsets according to feature values.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(rpart)
# Sample data
data(iris)
# Train a decision tree
tree_model <- rpart(Species ~ ., data = iris)
# Plot the decision tree
plot(tree_model)
text(tree_model, pretty = 0)
Explanation:
Using the iris dataset, we train a decision tree to classify species. The tree is visualized to show the splits and decision rules.
9. Random Forest
Random forest can be defined as an advanced machine learning technique that uses multiple decision trees and combines them to enhance accuracy and reduce overfitting..
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(randomForest)
# Sample data
data(iris)
# Train a random forest
rf_model <- randomForest(Species ~ ., data = iris, ntree = 100)
# Summary of the model
print(rf_model)
Explanation:
We use the iris dataset to train a random forest model with 100 trees. The randomForest function builds and combines multiple decision trees for robust predictions.
10. Neural Networks
Neural networks are a set of algorithms that have been designed in the manner of functioning like the human brain to solve problems.
Example Code:
# Load necessary library
library(nnet)
# Sample data
data(iris)
# Train a neural network
nn_model <- nnet(Species ~ ., data = iris, size = 5, maxit = 100)
# Summary of the model
summary(nn_model)
Explanation:
Using the iris dataset, we train a neural network with five hidden units. The nnet function from the nnet package is used to create the model.

Decided to check out that Wuthering Waves thing Mihoyo is so angry about. Here's my first impressions, written as I'm playing.
Woke up to two attractive (and possibly crazy) white woman who immediately decided my name was Rover. This is totally someone's kink.
Phones are gourds. I have no explanation for this.
Voice acting is kinda garbage, I actually thought they cheeped out and AI voiced the whole thing at first. (that may have just been an audio issue on my end though)
Relatedly, they didn't bother changing any of the Chinese names and no-one can seem to decide if they're going to pronounce them like a normal English speaker, or over-pronounce it massively complete with the correct tonal inflection. I'm not entirely convinced they didn't sloppily edit in the correct pronunciation into some of these lines.
No controller support, but at least this time it's just the devs messing with me and not Apple. Hopefully that will change soon, but my devices button to screen binding should be enough to muddle me through. It's enough for Genshin at least.
The UI is trying so hard to look exactly like the Genshin UI it almost hurts. Some screens are mostly original, but they tend to be for screens that won't show up in the Store page screenshots, tellingly enough.
To my surprise the combat's actually pretty original. Characters have special attacks they preform after being switched in (after charging a special bar), and it has an actual focus on dodging and parries over elemental whatevers (which seems to be totally absent) and generally favors a skill challenge more inline with a Souls-like in that way while still feeling like over the top action. Honestly I much prefer this to Genshin's combat so far, feels more like I'm engaging with the enemy rather than endlessly repeating the same sequence of elemental attacks on whatever healthbar is in-front of me.
The game thinks my device has a lot less horsepower than it does, took some settings tweaks and like two restarts to get it to not be in potato-vision. I could smell the pixels.
Stamina doesn't get used by the standard sprint, you can run indefinitely! Thank god!
Combat just got cooler, instead of torturing me with random equip drops to boost my stats we have a Castlevania Aria/Dawn of Sorrow style monster soul thing going on complete with monster specific special abilities/attacks. Seems like I can only have one of those special abilities at once while other soul equips are just stat upgrades, but this is so much cooler than what Genshin does.
I take it back about there being no Elemental stuff. Looks like special attacks and enemies have elemental types and damage, but they've yet to indicate there's any kind of mixing system like Genshin, just seems to be standard RPG weakness triangle stuff.
No piles of loot dropping on the ground, any loot you find has the decency to just drop into your inventory rather than make you mash the screen 20 times to pick it up.
Found another Genshin thing. The "following the glowing thing to treasure" is here.
I guess there's also pillars that you can activate to use as teleport waypoints, but I'm not giving Genshin credit for that idea.
There is parkour. It's just a basic "Assassin's Creed-esq" hit button to auto climb thing, so no skill challenge to be found there, but it makes traversal over vertical areas and mild level geometry problems so much more fun and easy.
I take it back, the voice acting isn't that bad, it's just Yangyang. I wouldn't call the rest of it fantastic mind, but Yangyang just isn't good and she's the main person you talk to for most of the intro. I don't think it's entirely the actresses fault, but the fact she seems to sharply drop straight into proper a proper Chinese accent/pronunciation whenever a Chinese name appears in the script isn't helping.
I haven't unlocked the gatcha yet, so I have no idea how bad that is. That also means I don't know what most of the characters look like, but I can't say I'm a huge fan of any of the designs I have seen. A whole lot of fairly generic "faintly realistic anime sci-fi" vibes and no real defining identity of it's own.
I think I've basically finish the tutorial now, the omnipresent grappling hook thing is a nice bonus. All I can hope now is that Yangyang isn't this game's Paimon, because she's only left me (from a story perspective) once so far. That said she's also playable, so maybe I'll be lucky and their isn't any Paimon sub.

*Waverly gets a text from Champ and Wynonna snatches her phone out of her hands*
WYNONNA: “Ugh! Ever hear of manscaping?”
WAVERLY: “Hey, that was meant for private eyes.”
WYNONNA: “Don’t tell me you’re back chomping at the Champ. Come on, he is just so beneath you.”
WAVERLY: “Uh, yeah, he is.”
*makes a riding on top gesture to emphasise*
WYNONNA: “Gross dude. There is more to life than crazy hot, toe curling, out of body, back into body, angels-singing-Hallelujah sex.”
WAVERLY: “Wait, wait. Hold up. Whose truck are you borrowing?”
WYNONNA: “Please, I can get from here to there on my own horsepower, thank you.”
WAVERLY: “Wait, who is it? Is it Dolls?”
WYNONNA: “Please.”
Ha. Well, this conversation explains a lot of things. I never really paid much attention to it before. For one thing, besides adhering to society’s expectations and pressures - Waverly is only with Champ for the sex. That’s likely mutual the way Champ goes on with girls. But it sounds like she has to control the wheel to get any satisfaction out of him. She’s certainly never had any kind of sex of which Wynonna has just described - which makes her curious enough to find out who it is. We - as the audience - know that it is Doc because of the previous episode’s events. But Wynonna hasn’t told anyone about her and Doc doing the dirty yet. So Waverly just assumes it’s Dolls Wynonna’s sexing it up with instead. As if Dolls would ever compromise his career and deputy position to sex it up with Wynonna.
Wynonna absolutely does not approve of Champ for Waverly. She doesn’t understand it whatsoever. But I guess she finally gets an explanation on why him with this conversation. But it’s no worries because all of Waverly’s issues with being in a romantic/sexual relationship will soon be sorted out because redheads indeed ‘do it’ better. She just needs to dump the dead weight first to have her. Which she does in this episode because she finally realizes for herself that “a boner and a pick-up aren’t the whole enchilada.”
I love that Nicole shows Waverly what a real romantic/sexual relationship is. That it’s more than just great sex. And she wasn’t even getting that with Champ unless she was the one pulling the reigns. Poor girl.
