Short film produced for the Monthly Movie Challenge “Horror 2022″
It was really fun to get to have some new buds over to make this film with us. It came together very quickly, and just before the screening.

So we went and watched it all. I don't know why it is considered controversial..? but we went at watched it all its very interesting and extremely well done, well acted and presented. Its not gratuitous or gory or anything I feel it stuck to what actually happened and its not just about him its about his family, the families of the victims, the people in the community that were affected by him and pretty much the world.. I feel that it was very comprehensive. It is probably the most comprehensive telling of this story that I've ever seen (I seen 2 movies based on him and his life) I think this should win awards for acting and writing of the series. If your interested or curious about it I would recommend watching it. Its very good.

This is another movie that I got to see via screener. One of the directors, Richard Oakes, reached out and since I enjoy supporting independent cinema, figured I've give this a watch. This is an interesting blend of comedy with horror. We get a cannibal befriending a depressed man. This also has heavy subject matter as well. I enjoyed my time with this one. Have you heard of this one? My thoughts are up on @davidosu87’s blog or the link below: Review: https://horrorreview.webnode.page/news/feed-me/ #feedme #cannibal #comedy #2022horror #horror2022 #horror #horrormovie #horrormovies #horrorfilm #horrorfilms #horrorfan #horrorfans #horrorreview #horrorreviews #horrorreviewer #filmreview #filmreviews #filmreviewer #nothorror #horrorcommunity #horrorfamily #hashtag https://www.instagram.com/p/CmOk9AxONOn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So yeah we went to see the new Horror/Thriller movie The Menu. I remember seeing the trailer for it and thought it would be an interesting movie.
Now after seeing it I can say it was very interesting and I thought that it was very good also it was different and that is what made it interesting in my view. Now from the trailer I thought it was going to involve some Cannibalism like they would be eating some of the characters but it didn't but it was not far off from that. lol
The story is basically this Ralph Fiennes plays Chef Slowik who is running this extremely exclusive restaurant on this lil island and he invites 12 people to take part in this once in a life time meal. little do they know that this will be a very sinister evening filled with not just food but murder! being each of the guest seemingly wronged Chef Slowik and this is how he will get this revenge.
Now I thought this movie did have different layers and an underlining story that has to deal with various aspects of society and feel that all the characters are kind of stereotypes or they represent certain type of people
Like Ralph Fiennes plays Chef Slowik who I felt was this crazy Gordon Ramsay type person who use to love what he did but over the years all his love and passion for it was squeezed out of him leaving him somewhat bitter and cynical and kinda hateful he lost all his fun and joy and it was due to the people that he invited. Also there is others like the vapid celebrity/movie star, the harsh and mean spirited restaurant critic as well as the waspy old money rich couple who think they can do whatever they want because they have money and the poser suck-up foodie know it all and so on.
Also there is Anya Taylor-Joy who plays what I would consider "the normal regular girl" Margot who I loved in this movie and I felt like I could relate to this character and felt like cheering for her in the 3rd act being she was just amazing in this Anya Taylor-Joy is in my opinion the star of this movie only seconded by Ralph Fiennes' Chef Slowik
Someone said this was going to be like a dark comedy and I can kinda see it being I feel alot of the humor came from Nicholas Hoult's Tyler where he is like totally oblivious alot of the time to what is going on around him its almost comical.
but this also stars John Leguizamo who I'm always happy to see in stuff and Judith Light who I haven't seen in a while. I thought everyone was really good in this.
Also yes this is a horror movie but it is one of those "slow burn" type of ones where are really great at times. It starts off kinda creepy and then just builds and builds and things just start to get more and more intense. So its not really any jumps or creatures but it is more of a "oh shit!" type of horror where your left wondering what is going to happen next but it was great.
I thought it started off good and it kept that through the movie with the shocks and reveals and it had in my opinion a excellent ending. So I would recommend giving it a watch if you are looking for something interesting and different with a lil bit of social commentary mixed in with the horror.

So yes we went to see the new Horror movie "Smile" originally we were going to go see The Woman King but the person who was going to see that couldn't go so we all went to see "Smile" I wanted to see this being it look really good and different. I am liking alot of the recent horror movies that have been coming out lately from Malignant to The Black Phone to Barbarian and everything in between. stuff has been really good.
The Theater was actually packed for this! it was pretty much a sold out crowd for the time we went I was saying we were lucky to get seats all together as a group. also there was one in theater item that they were giving away for this and you can see it here. also speaking of seating I was sitting on the right end of our group there was a seat to my right that was purchased and when the trailers were playing a girl came in and sat in that seat and watched like the first quarter of the movie and then got up and left. You would think she was going to the bathroom or to get something at the concession counter? no! she left and didn't come back! why is this important? I just found it strange that you purchase a ticket to the movie and only watch like a the first quarter of it then leave and don't come back? to me its just a bit weird. anyway..
As for the movie I can honestly say it was very good! It was a bit different but at the same time it kinda reminded me a tiny bit of the movie called "It Follows" if you haven't seen that one you should right away. but as for this. but as usual I'll try to not spoil anything being you should experience it for yourself.
The movie is more a psychological horror but at the same time it does deal with a type of unknown supernatural force that stalks it victims in a way in or to posses them and spread its evil from jumping from person to person through acts of unimaginable violence.
The movie basically revolves around Rose (played by Sosie Bacon) who is a psychiatrist who works in like a psychiatric hospital and is a very serious and clinical person and a girl is brought in to her who is claiming that she is being stalked by some evil force not believing in ghost or monsters Rose tries to treat the girl violently kills herself in front of rose with a big smile on her face. traumatized she goes home to take a break but soon her world and mental state start to crumble around her and she comes to realize that the "evil" was passed on to her she begins to try to find out where it came from and how to stop it she learns everyone who dies because of this dies with a huge joker like grin on their face which of course is how the movie gets its name. as she is slowly going crazy and that is when all the spooky stuff really starts and it gets kind of intense at times but no one will believe her until she requests the help of her Ex-boyfriend who is a cop and with that she tries to confront the evil and rid herself of it.
Now I don't feel the movie was scary but I guess scary on different levels like as in shocking I do believe it was disturbingly horrific at parts. The whole movie itself was in a way terrifying the musical score and sound design and everything was just pure horror and its very good to the point where you can’t turn away
like the acting in this was excellent Sosie Bacon was amazing and watching her just mentally crack becasue of what was happening was scary in its own right.
There was only one thing I didn't like about the movie which involves Rose's cat. When you get the scene you know its coming becasue you'll have this "oh no" type of reaction. I just found that birthday sequence kinda sad it was more of a "aww..:(" type of thing other then that the movie was excellent. I can see there being a possible sequel to this maybe? I don't think I would mind a Smile 2 but I would be interested in maybe more of a prequel like something along the lines of "The First Smile" like how did it all start where did the evil come from something like that. anyway.. the acting is very well done the way its filmed, the atmosphere, the production and sound design and even the music is all horrifying! the movie as a whole is creepily terrifying So I would recommend it and you should see it in theater to truly experience it. Also if you didn't know this movie was based on the short film "Laura Hasn't Slept" which you can watch below!

This is a movie that I wasn't necessarily sure what I was getting, but decided to take a chance in the theater. What sold me was this being horror as well as having Anya Taylor-Joy and Ralph Fiennes. The cast here is solid across the board to be honest. I ended up enjoying what this one did. Have you seen this? What did you think? My thoughts are up on @davidosu87’s blog or the link below: Review: https://horrorreview.webnode.page/news/the-menu/ #themenu @themenufilm #comedy #thriller @anyataylorjoy #ralphfiennes #horror2022 #2022horror #horror #horrormovie #horrormovies #horrorfilm #horrorfilms #horrorfan #horrorfans #horrorreview #horrorreviews #horrorreviewer #filmreview #filmreviews #filmreviewer #nothorror #horrorcommunity #horrorfamily #hashtag https://www.instagram.com/p/CmL-ifsugq5/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

So this past Tuesday our viewing of Black Adam was again postponed so we ended up going to see the new horror movie Prey for the Devil the trailers looked good so I was interested in seeing it. So I would have to say the movie is pretty good at least I thought so I thought it was a great movie for the end of October/Halloween time I'm not going to go to much into it being I don't want to give anything away being there is a bit of a twist involving 2 of the characters.
now I did feel this was well acted I thought Jacqueline Byers who plays Sister Ann was really good in this I at first thought she looked really familiar and thought she was Kate Mara being I feel the 2 of them look alike but of course it wasn't her but still I feel Jacqueline Byers did a good job. I was also racking my brain on the person who plays Dr. Peters I kept thinking where did I see her? she looks so familiar her name is Virginia Madsen and I had to look her up when I got home and I was like "oh its her!" mostly notable is she played Helen Lyle in the 1992 Candyman as well Agatha Sparrow in The Number 23 and Sara Campbell in The Haunting in Connecticut as well as a ton of other things but that is were I probably remembered her from Also Colin Salmon is always awesome in everything and also Posy Taylor who plays the possessed child did it really well also. I felt everyone did a great job in this
also another thing that I thought was really good was the practical/visual and make-up effects. I thought all that was really well done. I thought the hair choking/pulling scene was cool as well as the whole I guess you would call it "demon baby" sequence was kinda cool and weird at the same time and the whole make-up effects for the ppl who were "possessed" were really well done.
same with the production design the hospital/school were all this takes place was really interesting and at times kind of reminded me of Arkham from Batman.
I would say it wasn't really scary there was a few good jumps in there but nothing really terrifying it a good spooky watch and I did enjoy it and like I said it was a good movie for the end of October/Halloween time So if you like the whole demonic possession type movies then I would give this one a watch if you want.

Yes we went to see the final showdown in Halloween Ends this past Tuesday.
I was on the look out for any collectable goodies for this this while there. I didn't think there would be any which there wasn't but you never know. I thought there wouldn't be anything for IT Chapter 2 but there was tons of stuff anyway.
yup the final showdown!! I didn't know what to expect from the movie but I was hoping for a good final chapter one thing I noticed that during the opening credits is the text is blue and not the usual Halloween orange. I thought it was in reference to Laurie but I was told it was a reference to the original Halloween 3..? I seen the original Halloween 3 but don't remember the opening credits.
Now as for the movie itself it was alright don't go further if you don't want spoilers. The movie wasn't really about the final showdown of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, now you do get that you get what you paid to see in like the last 20-30mins of the movie but the rest of it is more kind of about Laurie Strode and a brand new character named Corey. In the movie there is a bit of a time jump being that this takes place I think 4 years after after the events of Halloween Kills and Michael has vanished never to be seen again and at the very first of the movie we are introduced to the character of Cory who accidentally kills a boy he was asked to babysit and with out Michael the town turns on Cory and brands him the "New Boogeyman" and he goes away for a bit of time all due to the "Curse of Michael Myers" when he gets out he is trying to get his life back together and ends up crossing paths with Laurie Strode who is now living in a house downtown Haddonfield with her granddaughter Allyson and is now the stereotypical grandmother who bakes cookies and pies and all that and is apparently living the life she should have been with out Michael Myers and is writing a book about he experience with him. after meeting Cory Laurie introduces him to Allyson and he and Allyson being dating. after a run in with the injured Michael Myers one night Cory seems to become possessed by Michael and he goes on a bit of a killing spree with the help of Michael but then turns on him and tries to become the new Michael Myers and goes after Laurie over her now disapproval of him dating Allyson. Michael returns and proves that he is the one and only Michael Myers and this is where you get the final showdown of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers.
Like I said the movie is alright its not what I expected. I have to say I did expect a bit more from this being how they built it up and compared to the previous 2 movies. I did feel that it was strange the direction that Laurie Strode went in as a character. According to the previous 2 movies she spent like 40 years becoming this hardened Sarah Connor type person to just being all "fuck it, I'm just going to buy a cute lil house in town and bake pies and shit" its totally like "wtf?" it just seems weird like the complete opposite of what we were introduced to in the first 2 movies. also the whole thing with the character of Cory reminded me of the stories and ideas from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning and Jason Goes to Hell where someone else takes over as the killer and/or the idea of transmissible/transferable evil. Now I can't say I didn't like the movie but I do feel like the first of it was pretty good and the last of it was great its just like in the middle there that was kinda "huh? what does this have to do with Laurie Strode VS.Michael Myers?" It was an interesting watch and seeing how it all "Ends" but I would have to say I did enjoy Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills way more then I did this. and with this you do get what you came to see/pay for its just primarily at the last what 20-30mins of the movie. even before that some of the kills were alright but its not very graphic unlike the previous 2 and doesn't feel very scary or terrifying either. one of the ppl I went with kinda said that this movie kinda reminded him of the movie Christine where the character of Cory is like Arnie Cunningham and Michael Myers is the car.. which of course kinda made me think.. also it was funny mentioning that being Christine was also directed by John Carpenter (who created the 1978 Halloween)
Anyway the final word on this is that the movie was alright and it wasn't want I was expecting and was expecting more from it but if you want to see how it "Ends" then I would say its worth the watch the last what 20-30mins of the movie is primarily what you came to see/pay for.

While at our screening of the new Horror movie Smile they did have a thing for the movie. I don't know if I would consider it in theater merch being I didn't pay for it its more of a promotional item? when we went up to the podium to get our tickets torn they were handing out lil mini posters so I was like "I'll take one!"😁 I'm not going to put it up I'm going to put it away in my box with all my other rolled up posters I have that I don't have on display.
