One example: soon after our first date, he tried to impress me by saying he ‘used to be in Yellowcard, before they got famous.’ Which was a. a total lie, I checked, and b. dude, if you’re gonna lie and say you were in a band to try and impress me, at least pick a band I like. He could’ve said he was in Black Flag and I might’ve half-believed him—everyone was in Black Flag.

Total Sleaze Supremacy. Like the series always should have been.

Based Scott getting the series re-railed this whole month.

The core charm of the first game is that it introduced a world that felt worn and used. The filth, cobwebs, trash, and handprints made it feel like other people lived in that world and interacted with it. Once the plastic shells and bright lighting started, sure they had their own unique charms, but something special was definitely lost. Even with 4, that charm didn't make it all the way back in.

There's a passive-aggressiveness to a used environment in horror. It doesn't exist just for you, and it doesn't care about you one way or another. It will continue existing in its own way, whether you like it or not.

Plus, this implies a world where people are normal and flawed. People are sweaty and dirty. They spill drinks. They smoke in a kids' location. They're just human, and aren't monetization-safe facsimiles of human life.

More of this, please.
