Kidnapped to Hell (pt. 4)
TW: mentions of abuse
Mammon looked up at Solomon when he walked back into the common room. "How are they?" He asked tentatively.
Solomon looked at him. "Physically, Hoshiko is fine. I'm more interested in how this ordeal has affected their psyche, I honestly thought they'd be worse off." He glanced at Diavolo.
"We're very lucky, my father actually rescued Hoshiko and held them in his chambers until we arrived," Diavolo explained.
"The Demon King woke up?" Lucifer asked, surprised.
Diavolo looked at him. "He went back to sleep," he assured Lucifer quickly.
"So... the king woke up just to save Hoshiko?" Levi asked, mildly confused.
"I don't believe that was his intention exactly. He told us that Hoshiko's screams woke him up," Diavolo explained.
Levi grimaced at the thought.
Mammon growled quietly before jumping to his feet. "So what?! What're we gonna do? Cuz we can't just let whoever did this get away with it!"
"They will not," Diavolo assured them.
"Then what're we gonna do?!"
Everyone looked at Diavolo expectantly.
Even Diavolo felt a little intimidated by all the eyes on him. He knew he couldn't spew some diplomatic twaddle to the present company. The best he could do at the moment was to just be straight and honest.
"Honestly, I don't have a definite plan yet. Hoshiko mentioned to me that the demons who kidnapped them talked about their masters," he looked at Solomon.
Solomon crossed his arms as he stood up straighter. "Did Hoshiko mention any names?"
Diavolo shook his head. "They told me that they didn't catch any names."
Solomon nodded. "Once they wake up, I'll try and help them remember. We usually know more than we think we do."
"With magic?" Diavolo asked.
"I was thinking guided meditation, using magic on the mind like that can be tricky."
Diavolo nodded.
"My lord," Barbatos addressed Diavolo.
Diavolo looked at him. "Yes, Barbatos?"
"I could... I could look and see who abducted Hoshiko, if you would like."
Diavolo just looked at him for a moment, trying to decide on what to say. He didn't like to abuse Barbatos's powers like that, he felt like it gave him an unfair advantage. But this was a different situation... right?
Just as he was about to give Barbatos an answer, a blood curdling scream came from Hoshiko's room.
Mammon and Barbatos were the first ones out of the common room, but everyone else wasn't far behind.
Mammon burst into Hoshiko's room to find them sitting up in bed, shaking, and holding their head.
Mammon knelt down next to the bed and tried to make eye contact with Hoshiko. "Hey Hoshiko, talk to me. What happened?"
Hoshiko didn't even seem to register his presence.
Barbatos grabbed Hoshiko's robe and placed it over their shoulders, attempting to preserve some sense of decency.
Hoshiko jumped at Barbatos's soft touch and whipped their head to look at him.
"It's alright, you're safe," Barbatos's even tone did more to assure them than his words did.
Hoshiko nodded but still started crying. "I was... I was so... so scared."
Barbatos frowned and knelt down right next to Mammon. "I am so sorry." He placed a hand over one of Hoshiko's.
Hoshiko sniffed and turned their hand over so they could grab and squeeze his hand.
He squeezed back silently.
Hoshiko reached for Mammon's hand with their free one.
Mammon quickly took it and squeezed it, desperate to bring them some comfort.
There was a tense silence in the air as Barbatos and Mammon watched Hoshiko and everyone else watched them from the door.
Once Hoshiko had calmed down, they looked at Mammon. "Could you leave us alone for just a few minutes please?"
Mammon sighed. "Yeah..." He stood up and walked out, forcing everyone else out of the doorway as he did. "C'mon let's give 'em some space." He closed the door behind him.
Barbatos looked at Hoshiko. "Why did you do that?"
"So that I can talk to you and you can feel comfortable while I do so." Hoshiko patted the bed right next to them.
Barbatos stood up just to sit down on the bed.
Hoshiko stroked his cheek. "It is not your job to use your powers to look after me. This isn't your fault."
Barbatos sighed. "I know that..."
"... but you still feel guilty," Hoshiko finished for him.
Barbatos placed a hand over the one of Hoshiko's that rested on his cheek. "How do you read people so well?"
Hoshiko chuckled. "That's my magical power I guess."
Barbatos smirked and shook his head. "I know it is illogical to blame myself, but I do. I not only failed my friend, I failed my lord. I don't believe that I will feel any better about this ordeal until your abductors are brought to justice," he told Hoshiko honestly.
Hoshiko nodded. "Well... I believe that between you, Diavolo, and Solomon you can all figure it out."
Barbatos squeezed their hand. "Your faith is much appreciated."
Hoshiko smiled slightly. "You believe that I'm not upset with you, right?"
"I know that you are not upset with me."
"Good." Hoshiko kissed his forehead.
Barbatos blushed softly. "... you should let everyone else see that you're alright."
Hoshiko nodded and stood up then looked down at themself. "Jeez, I've been pretty much naked this whole time. I'm sorry," they told him as they fixed their robe.
"It's alright. I didn't look."
"Such a gentleman," Hoshiko teased.
Barbatos continued to blush but stood up and walked to the door. "I should go find the young master."
Hoshiko nodded. "Okay."
Barbatos left the room and Hoshiko followed him out.
Mammon was the only one still waiting in the hallway, sitting on the ground, scrolling through his phone.
Barbatos nodded to Mammon as he went to find Diavolo.
Mammon stood up as soon as Hoshiko walked out. "Hey, ya good to walk?"
"I'm walking, aren't I?" Hoshiko hugged him as soon as he was standing.
Mammon hugged back tightly.
They stood there just holding each other for several minutes.
Hoshiko looked up at Mammon. "I should let everyone else see that I'm okay."
Mammon nodded. "Yeah, I guess so." He didn't make any effort to move though.
Hoshiko had to pull away from Mammon first. They started walking back toward the common room.
Mammon walked with Hoshiko, keeping an eye on them to make sure their movements were stable.
"I'm not going to keel over right in front of you, ya know," Hoshiko told him, noticing how close a watch he was keeping.
"You don't know that," Mammon argued.
Hoshiko just shook their head. "I think I know my own body."
Mammon sighed. "I'm just worried about you."
"I know you are, but just worrying isn't going to fix anything," Hoshiko argued.
Mammon stopped walking. "... Can I fix anything?"
Hoshiko stopped and looked at him. "I... I don't know."
Mammon frowned and nodded.
Hoshiko grabbed his hands. "Just... be here for me... please."
Mammon squeezed their hands and leaned down to rest his forehead against their's. "Always."
Hoshiko smiled slightly. "Thank you." They pulled away and walked into the common room.
Mammon followed them in there.
Hoshiko surveyed the room, noticing that Diavolo and Barbatos weren't in there. "Where are Diavolo and Barbatos?"
"They went to another room to speak privately," Lucifer informed Hoshiko.
Hoshiko looked at him and nodded. "Okay." Then they looked at Satan and Belphegor who still looked a little dejected.
Hoshiko sighed and walked over to them. "Hey, are you two mad at me?"
They both looked up at Hoshiko.
"Are you mad at us?" Satan asked as a response.
Hoshiko sat down between them. "No, I'm not mad. But y'all can't do that, especially not to Diavolo."
Belphegor huffed. "Yeah, yeah."
Hoshiko gripped Belphie's thigh. "Hey, I get why you were upset and I'm flattered but you need to think about the consequences of your actions."
Belphie sighed and leaned on Hoshiko's shoulder. "I get it."
Hoshiko looked at Satan, expecting a response from him too.
Satan sighed. "I understand."
"Good." Hoshiko grabbed his hand and pulled it to their lips so that they could kiss his knuckles.
Satan blushed. "Ah, what're you doing?"
"I hadn't thanked you yet for coming to rescue me from the eight circles."
Satan smiled slightly. "I didn't do much."
"I appreciate it anyways," Hoshiko told him as they squeezed his hand.
Satan squeezed back. "There's no one here who wouldn't have done the same if they had the chance."
Hoshiko glanced around the room when the movement of some of the brothers nodding in agreement caught their eye; Hoshiko avoided looking at Lucifer.
"Is there anything I can do for you?" Satan asked.
Hoshiko looked at him. "Oh... um... could you read to me? That always makes me feel better." They asked with a soft blush.
Satan grinned. "Yes. Do you have any requests?"
"Something fun, something with adventure, maybe a little romance."
Satan hummed thoughtfully. "I think I have just the thing. I'll be right back." He stood up and headed upstairs.
"Hoshiko, how are you feeling?" Solomon asked.
Hoshiko looked at him and frowned when they noticed the concerned look on his face. "I don't like it when you look all serious."
"Well this is a serious matter," Solomon argued.
Hoshiko sighed and just started playing with Belphie's hair.
Belphie snuggled closer to Hoshiko when they did that.
Solomon sighed. "Hoshiko, will you talk to me please?"
Hoshiko looked at him. "Why? I really just want to chill."
"Because the more we know about your abduction, the faster we can bring the offenders to justice."
"Solomon, I'd really like to not think about it right now."
"It'd be better if you told us now while it's fresh in your mind," Lucifer interjected.
Hoshiko glared at him. "I said, no," their tone adamant and unwavering.
"Why not?" Solomon asked.
Hoshiko scowled at him. "Are you seriously asking me why I don't want to recount what is almost definitely the most traumatic thing to happen to me in my entire life? And you all know, that's saying something!" Hoshiko's eyes started to glow green.
"Hoshiko, I think you need to calm down," Lucifer warned.
"Calm down?!" They pulled away from Belphie and stood up. "You're the ones who got me all riled up and now you want me to calm down?!"
Satan rushed back into the common room, a book in hand, and eyes glowing green. "Hoshiko, what's wrong?"
Hoshiko turned to look at Satan and frowned when they saw his eyes. "Oh..." They touched their own cheeks as they realized how worked up they had gotten.
Satan gently gripped Hoshiko's elbow with his free hand. "How about we go to your room?"
Hoshiko nodded slowly and their eyes stopped glowing and faded to their normal shade of green.
Satan's eyes reacted similarly, changing back to their normal blue instead. He led Hoshiko out of the common room and to their bedroom.
Hoshiko sighed once they got into their room. "I should probably apologize to Solomon."
"Is that who you were mad at?" Satan asked.
Hoshiko nodded. "He just wanted me to tell him what happened, and I just... need to relax before I get into that."
Satan took Hoshiko's hand and squeezed it. "Let's relax with a good book and then you can apologize and maybe you'll want to talk about it then too."
Hoshiko looked at him and nodded. "What book did you pick out?"
Satan showed it to Hoshiko. "The Princess Bride."
Hoshiko looked at the book and grinned, then looked back at Satan. "I love you."
Satan smiled slightly. "As you wish."
Hoshiko chuckled and climbed onto their bed and sat against the headboard.
Satan slipped his shoes off and climbed into the bed and sat next to Hoshiko.
Hoshiko leaned on his shoulder.
Satan opened the book and started to read aloud.
Hoshiko turned the pages for Satan since he was holding the book.
Satan looked at Hoshiko when they missed turning a page once, craning his head to see their face. "Hoshiko?"
Their eyes had a glazed over look to them, indicating that they had zoned out.
Satan frowned, then closed the book and set it on the side table. He turned to face Hoshiko and turned their face to look at him. "Hoshiko? Dearest? Are you with me?"
Hoshiko gasped softly and looked at Satan as tears started to well up in their eyes.
Satan frowned and stroked Hoshiko's cheek. "What happened?"
"I said I didn't want to talk about it... but I can't seem to forget about it, even for a moment." Hoshiko sniffed.
Satan moved his other hand to rub Hoshiko's back. "Take your time."
Hoshiko exhaled shakily. "It was... a level of fear unlike anything I've ever felt before. But it wasn't just fear, it was disgust and humiliation and betrayal-"
"Betrayal?" Satan questioned.
Hoshiko looked down. "I don't know if you know how it works down there... I'm not even sure exactly what part I was in when the king rescued me, but it was like my own personal hell. My worst fears come to life." Hoshiko sniffed and grabbed at Satan's sweater. "Being beaten and branded is one thing... but for the punishment to come from you and Mammon and Lucifer and... and..." Hoshiko broke down into sobs.
Satan pulled Hoshiko into his arms and just held them while they cried. "... I would never hurt you, Hoshiko. My brothers wouldn't either."
"... I know," Hoshiko choked out.
"I love you, Hoshiko. You are the dearest thing in my life."
Hoshiko nodded and pressed their face into Satan's neck.
Satan ran a hand up into Hoshiko's hair and ran his fingers through it.
Hoshiko started to calm down and relax with Satan playing with their hair.
"Now sleeps the crimson petal, now the white," Satan started to recite a poem.
Hoshiko turned their head enough so that they could look at Satan.
"Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font.
The firefly wakens; waken thou with me... Now droops the milk-white peacock like a ghost,
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.
Now lies the Earth all Danaรซ to the stars, And all thy heart lies open unto me. Now slides the silent meteor on, and leaves A shining furrow, as thy thoughts in me. Now folds the lily all her sweetness up, And slips into the bosom of the lake... So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip Into my bosom and be lost in me."
Hoshiko relaxed further into Satan. "That was beautiful."
"It's Lord Alfred Tennyson," Satan informed them.
Hoshiko hummed and kissed Satan's neck. "I love how well read you are."
Satan smiled and leaned his head on Hoshiko's.
Hoshiko closed their eyes.
Satan rubbed their back and just held them for a while.
Hoshiko eventually fell asleep on Satan.
Satan kissed their temple when he noticed them sleeping, then carefully moved Hoshiko so that they were laying down and pulled away from them slowly.
Hoshiko moaned softly and snuggled into their pillow.
Satan covered them with their blanket and then left the room quietly.
