SLUT! l MV1 imagine
a/n: hey! I’m alive, I hope some of you are alive as well and willing to read something 💘 this is short and just a random idea I had before diving into writing some longer pieces with more plot, but I really hope you like it and as you know, feedback is very very welcome!!! Also I’m sorry if it’s weird or any mistakes bc I wrote this on my phone 💘
Summary: this isn’t your first time being a WAG, but people don’t seem to like the idea of you ending your relationship with Joe Burrow and falling in love with Max.
Looking around, you could tell that this wasn't an ordinary place. The sound of engines revving, the vivid colors of various vehicles, and the hustle and bustle of multiple teams, engineers, sponsors, drivers, and fans walking around the paddock all added to the excitement. It was a truly remarkable sight to behold. The energy was palpable, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of awe taking it all in.
In your previous relationship, your boyfriend would make grand entrances at the stadium, sporting his fancy Cartier sunglasses and jamming to his favorite tunes. He wouldn't pay much attention to the photographers snapping away as he strolled past them, and you'd catch a glimpse of him from afar in a lavish suite. That was quite a contrast to your current situation, which you're still adjusting to.
You were greeted by a well-dressed individual who was sporting the logos of Red Bull, Oracle, and Honda all over their outfit. They handed you a VIP all-access paddock pass which had your name and headshot printed on it, along with details of whose guest you were. To top it off, they also put a Red Bull credential on your wrist. The assistant then guided you towards the power station, where you were hopping to finally catch Max after weeks of not seeing each other.
You never meant to be in this position. You were in a happy, stable, loving relationship, truly. But last year one night in Las Vegas, your boyfriend, Joe, was invited to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, and of course, you both attended, curious and excited about the event. Neither of you knew it would be the beginning of the end.
Your first meeting with Max was captured on camera.
Max and Joe, the reigning Formula 1 champion and the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback together was gold content for the Red Bull socials, and there you were in the back, knowing your place smiling at the interaction, but when you were least expecting it, the champion stretched his hand and introduced himself, catching you and your boyfriend off guard.
As soon as he spoke, I noticed his friendly yet polite tone. "Hi, I'm Max," he introduced himself with a warm smile. His simple gesture of introducing himself made him instantly likable and set him apart from the others in the crowd.
“Hi Max, I’m (y/n). Thanks for the invitation,” you shook the hand that wasn’t holding a can of Red Bull.
“Right. Max, this is my girlfriend. She’s the happiest here because she’s a Red Bull addict,” Joe added, earning a soft laugh from you and a smile from Max.
“Then you came to the right place, (y/n). The mini fridges are all yours, and I’m pretty sure the ones on the second floor have limited editions,”
You thought that was all you were going to see of him, barely catching him after his win to congratulate him, but oh were you wrong, seeing him with a warm gray pull-up hoodie and styled blond hair, sipping gin and tonic and waving his hand as people chanted his name to the tune of a song.
Tu Tu Du Du, Max Verstappen
Or something along those lines.
The moment he recognized you, a sudden rush of excitement and anticipation sent a buzz through your stomach that was impossible to ignore. You felt a mixture of nervousness and elation as he leaned in for a short cheek kiss, the scent of gin lingering on your nose as you briefly noticed the small mole on his upper lip. Despite the presence of your boyfriend standing behind you, you couldn't help but feel a flutter of emotions inside.
“I heard you ransacked the energy station,” A drunk Max Verstappen told you.
“What do you mean?” Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion, and at the same time you felt Joe’s arms tight around your waist.
“There weren't any Red Bulls left on the building after you left, maybe I'll have to send a PR package your way,” Max slurred, taking a new sip from his gin and tonic glass.
You couldn’t answer because Joe was faster: “we’ll sure enjoy that, thank you. Wanna go mingle, babe?”
That was almost five months ago as you made your way in sunny Melbourne, doing your best to avoid prying eyes who were aware of the events that took place last November and how you left Joe Burrow the quarterback for Max Verstappen the racing driver.
But it’s not like you wanted to.
After the first box full of sugar free Red Bull arrived with a note, you left a message on his Instagram before posting a story, tagging him and the team.
The he started sending silly memes, followed by the description of the Red Bull ingredients written in Arabic while on Abu Dhabi.
In February, things had reached a point where it was impossible to ignore any longer. You knew it was time to end things with Joe, and when you did, it felt like a weight had been lifted off your shoulders. Suddenly, you were free to do as you pleased, to go where you wanted to go. And so, when Max invited you to go to Bahrain for testing, you jumped at the opportunity.
It was on this trip that you experienced your first date with Max. You both had such a great time together, laughing until your stomachs hurt. You tried your best to hold back your wandering eyes, but you couldn't help noticing the adorable mole on his lip. And then, when the night sky had blanketed the Middle East, he leaned in and kissed you, sending shivers down your spine. It was a magical moment that you would never forget.
But the next day, your first day on the track, a random person recognized you and rumors went crazy, name-calling, attacks, fans carrying signs “What happened with #9”, grown men calling you a bitch, a whore, a gold digger, jumping from one dick to another. It was so much that Max decided to send you to his home in Monaco, not even caring if you were there for the first Grand Prix of the season, he just needed you to be okay.
As you walked towards the energy station, the ground beneath your feet felt firm, yet your steps were hesitant and shy. You were not alone, though, as someone from the team was following your every move, as per Max's orders. The team wanted to ensure that you were safe and secure as you made your way towards the Red Bull hospitality. Once you arrived, a collective sigh of relief was released, and you waited patiently for Max to arrive. The anticipation in the air was palpable as everyone eagerly awaited his arrival.
You vividly remember that moment when he finally arrived at the paddock, dressed in his Red Bull shirt, shorts, and cap, looking so handsome and sporty. You couldn't help but rush towards him, feeling a surge of excitement and joy. As you hugged him tightly, he smiled and hummed softly, clearly enjoying your touch and warmth. You noticed that he was trying to register your scent, perhaps to make the moment even more intimate and memorable.
You knew he was about to lean in for a cheek kiss, but something inside you urged you to do something bolder and more passionate. So, without hesitating, you turned around, making sure his larger frame was facing the outside, away from prying eyes. Then, you carefully grabbed his face with both hands, feeling his strong jawline and stubble under your fingers. You looked deeply into his eyes, savoring the moment, before leaning in and kissing his full lips.
The kiss was electrifying and unexpected, taking him by surprise, but he quickly responded with equal passion and tenderness. You felt his arms wrap around your waist, pulling you closer, as you lost yourself in the blissful moment. It was a moment of pure connection and love, one that you would always treasure in your heart.
Despite being called all sorts of names by people, you refused to let it get to you. You were determined to continue showing your deep admiration and affection for Max, no matter what others thought or said. You believed that your feelings were genuine and authentic, and you were not going to let anyone else's opinion sway you. Despite the challenges and obstacles you faced, your love for Max remained unwavering and waiting to grow bigger.

______________________________________________________________
Sometimes you really fit into Figure 8. Sometimes you all did. Like when John B was off with Sarah and he was wearing the clothes that she had bought him to go out golfing or go to brunch at the yacht club. Or when Kie was dragged to a kook event by her parents at the country club. Pope wore his suit when he had different scholarship and college interviews- and he really gave the kook boys a run for their money with how good he looked in his steamed suit. JJ was the least likely to really look like he would ever fit in on Figure 8, and that was because he never wanted to. He reserved his ‘money suit’, as he called it, for when he had to work as a busboy, and occasionally picked up other gigs. You, however, were fitting in more often than you would have liked.
You tucked your white cashmere sweater into your long, green pleated skirt. Letting out a small huff as you sprayed your perfectly curled hair one more time. Throwing your purse over your shoulder, you trudged down your hallway, your sneakers cost more than $400. You could still remember how your jaw dropped when you saw the pricetag, and apparently the kooks ate these shoes up. They needed them in every color, every new style that came out. It was madness, if you were being honest. It was like they were just giving away money.
That’s what it seemed like, at least. You had been working at a retail store in the main strip of Figure 8 for over a year now. It was the only way you could afford the clothes you were wearing. You got a steep discount off the price, and you knew how to shop sales better than anyone.
Your kook masquerade was always squished the moment you walked out to your car. The old beat up Honda that was always parked out front was nothing like what a kook would drive. It was too old. A 2005? The kooks didn’t know what anything from that year was- maybe only their participation trophies from little league that had the year engraved, that was about it.
Unlocking the car, you tossed your bag onto the passenger seat, closing the door and buckling up your seatbelt.
“Please start, Hilda..” You mumbled, closing your eyes and taking a deep breath as your hand turned the key in the ignition. She did, as usual- but you would never forget the time that she broke down. You cried for the ten minutes it took John B and JJ to rescue you. They were like your own little mechanics. Pope had called you in the car for the ten minutes while you sobbed and tried to calm you down- it didn’t work. Nothing worked until you saw your car fixed. You still owed them for saving your ass that day, regardless of how many times they assured you it was really nothing.
Crossing over the bridge from The Cut to Figure 8, you sighed: traffic. You knew by now the traffic was always bad as you headed into the main strip of town. It was the most popular place. Coffee shops, restaurants, stores.. Who wouldn’t be there if they had the money and time? Yeah, the coffee was overpriced and no one knew how to drive in their expensive cars, but it was still nice. Nicer than The Cut where people revved their engines when you scurried across the street.
–
It took you a half hour to finally pull into the parking lot behind your store. Saturdays were always the worst traffic wise, but boy, was it a good sales day. Checking the time, you bit your lip as you contemplated running to the cafe a few shops down to get a coffee. Technically you had time- you were always early. You had a fear of being late if you were being honest. You knew it looked bad, and it wasn’t hard for you to just leave a little early for wherever you were going. It took you two minutes to walk to the cafe, and you would give yourself ten minutes to be in the cafe, another two minutes to walk back, and you had twenty minutes until you had to clock in. What if the cafe was busy? What if it took you fifteen minutes in there?
You slammed the car door and walked towards the Cove Cafe. The bell dinged as you walked in, a smile pressed to your lips as you pushed your sunglasses to your head. It wasn’t busy. What a relief. You smiled at the barista as you walked up to the counter. You and Gabriella had become good friends from your constant stops to the overpriced coffee shop.
“The usual?” She asked with a grin, scribbling onto the cup as you nodded your head. You still had ten minutes to get back to the shop before you had to clock in. You smiled and waved back to Gabriella as you left the shop, sipping on the drink that had become a staple to your routine.
–
This Saturday was not a good day for sales. The weather must’ve been too nice, or everyone had gone to the mainland. The traffic you had fought through died down, and the small shop was deserted. Main Street in general was deserted. You and your co-worker, Abigail were basically staring at each other for four hours. It was painful at this point. You both had resorted to hiding off to the side hall to watch Netflix shows, peering your heads out when you heard the door open.
Most of the time it was one or two people wandering in- usually tourons who just looked around and pulled you away from the show. It was your turn to walk out there when the door dinged, watching as two people walked in. Your eyes squinted as you looked to the security camera before heading out from behind the curtain.
You tried to hide your surprise- and disgust- as your eyes glanced over to see Topper Thorton and Rafe Cameron in the small store. What did they want? Were they making rounds because Sarah was complaining about something John B had said? You knew it wasn’t a good idea John B was hanging around her. Were they threatening your group?
Was it too late to shove Abigail out here? Was it too late to lock the doors and pretend you never opened? Were you allowed to not greet them? Spit in their faces?
“Do you have this in a large?” Rafe’s question knocked you from your thoughts, blinking a few times before you furrowed your brows.
“Let me go check for you.” You smiled at the two boys before heading behind the curtain where Abigail was. “How did I get so unlucky to have to deal with Topper and Rafe? How come you got a Hollywood directors cousin and I get two assholes who aren’t going to spend any money?” A groan escaped your lips before you brought yourself down the stairs to the stockroom.
–
“So you’re going to take the three shirts, the sweater and the two pants and then we’re going to order you the polo in the salmon color, and the sneakers, right?” You ran by him one more time.
“Yeah, and ship it to the store if you can.” Rafe nodded, tapping his American Express Platinum card against the wooden counter. You nodded, typing away on the ipad register. It was a relief to finally be getting them out of the store, though they were a lot less of a pain then you had originally thought they would be. In fact, they were really respectful a complete 180 from what you were used to experiencing. They had hung back up everything they had tried on, and made sure to get a full glance of everything they could want in a different size or color before making you run to the stockroom once they were aware it was in a basement.
The only awkward part of the whole interaction was when you had absentmindedly walked back to the fitting rooms and saw Rafe shirtless as he spoke to Topper about the shirt he had on.
“Pants fit well.” You awkwardly smiled, diverting your eyes from Rafe’s toned chest. You didn’t hate having them in the store, and he was about to drop a lot of money which was only going to be more money in your pocket.
“You’re all set. Everything should be here by Wednesday the latest. I’ll give you a call when they get here.” You smiled, watching him tap the heavy card against the card reader. His blue eyes glanced up to meet your own eyes.
“Could you text me, actually? The number on file is my cell.” Your eyes glanced to Topper as he smirked, eyes glancing your way. To be honest, you were surprised. It wasn’t like you weren’t allowed to text customers for outreach or order updates- but it was the look Rafe was giving you, it was the smirk Topper had plastered to his face, it was the way Rafe was leaning on the counter.
–
“And then as if spending an hour with them wasn’t bad enough, he asked me to text him when his order got to the store!” You were pacing in the living room of the chateau. You had driven straight there after work, it was a bit of a usual for all of you. After work on Saturdays, everyone would meet at the chateau and unwind, usually a beer or two, and pizza.
“Why are you dressed like you’re from the 60’s?” JJ asked, as if he hadn’t been looking at you for the past fifteen minutes you had been ranting.
“That isn’t the point, idiot.” Kiara chimed in, shaking her head at JJ’s comment. “Love the sweater by the way.” She smiled.
“Dude, it retails for like three hundred, I almost threw up when a woman asked me where it was in the store the last time I wore it and then she bought it in the three colors we have.” You smiled back, finally plopping onto the couch next to JJ. His eyes were wide as he looked to your sweater, before petting it.
“Fuck, it’s soft.”
“It’s cashmere and get your grubby hands off of it. You probably have oil or beer on your hands, and it’s dry clean only.” Your hand smacked at his.
“So when’s your first date with Rafe.” JJ teased, a groan leaving your lips as your head fell back.
“Where the hell did a date even come into this? If he gets my number that’s just another way to threaten us.”
“I wish John B and Sarah were here to hear all this.. Sarah would lose it.” Kie laughed. “But, we would probably get to the bottom of it. She would just text him and see what was up. Either we’re overthinking it, or we’re perfectly on track for whatever his twisted mind is thinking.”
“So are you going to wear cashmere on your date with him? Do you think he’ll pay?” JJ continued, a grin planted to his face. He wasn’t going to let it die down, which you should have expected. Jeez, where was Pope, John B and Sarah when you needed them?
–
Your fingers hovered over your phone after you had texted Rafe, the chat bubble signaling he was responding - and fast. There was no need to be nervous about whatever he was saying, it was your job, after all. Texting him as he requested for the order he placed - you hadn’t done anything wrong or out of the ordinary.
You jumped a bit feeling your phone vibrate in your hand, eyes scanning the text saying he would probably show up right before you closed because he was busy. Your lips pulled into a tight line, preparing yourself to have to stay past close. You hearted the message without even thinking, all sense of professionalism threw itself out the window. “Fuck,” you muttered under your breath, too late now to undo what had been done.
–
The store was in nearly perfect condition, you had told Abigail to head home, that you would wait out Rafe’s arrival on your own, assuring her he would surely only be about 5-10 minutes. You finger spaced the racks twice, re-folded your tables and even dusted off the mannequins as you waited for his arrival. It was now thirty minutes past close, the doors had been locked, your fingers tapped along the desk as a sigh escaped your lips, eyes rolling. Pulling your phone out of pocket, your fingers fired off a message to Rafe.
hey! i’ve gotta close up, we’re open from 9-7 tomorrow, just tell the associate you’re picking up :)
Grabbing your things from the back, your keys twirled around your fingers, jumping as a figure was looking into the glass doors of the store. A gasp escaped your lips as your eyes looked to Rafe’s, a smile pressed to his lips as he caught the panic course through your body. A small debate ran through your brain, should you even let him have his things? He should and could wait until the following day. Teach him a lesson on being punctual.
His hand knocked on the door, smile still pressed tight to his lips. It was almost cocky, like he knew that you would let him in. Before even making a conscious decision, your feet were carrying you to the door and unlocking it.
“Maybe we should add a watch to your order, seems like you could use it.” Your tone was a bit harsher than you intended, but at this point, he was wasting your time. Holding the door open, you quickly locked it after he entered.
“I’m only thirty minutes late.”
“You knew when we closed, you’re abusing my kindness.”
“Is that what you call the attitude?” Your eyes were glaring at this point, feet carrying you quickly to the back where Rafe’s items were packaged neatly, a bow around the handle of the bag and all. Grabbing it, you gasped yet again as he had been closer to the curtain to the back than anticipated. A chuckle escaping his lips. “You look like a deer in headlights.”
“Can you just take your things and go? I’ve spent enough time in this store.” A huff escaped your lips as you shoved the bag to Rafe, already walking towards the front door to escort him out. “And don’t worry, I’ll send you watches during my next shift so you can work on being on time.”
“So you want to see me again?” Rafe’s eyebrows raised, smirk pressing to his lips. He clearly was in no rush to leave, or leave without frustrating you any bit he could.
“Right now I would love nothing more than to watch you leave, Rafe.” Unlocking the door, and opening it you motion for him to leave, your patience growing thin as he took his time walking from the store. “Thanks for shopping with us today.” You mutter before closing the door behind him and locking it.
–
Scrolling through your phone, a text pulled your brows together.
so, how’d i look walking away?

Forget-me-not
⫿Illegal racer!Mingi⫿
TW: cursing, unprotected sex
Word count: 4,7k
A/N: Well yeah...this is Mingi's fault for posting those freaking pics and my fault for getting inspired at the most random ass times. I know I'm not the greatest smut writer, but don't take my head off for it, thank you. Your feedback is very much appreciated!
⭒Toge racing: 1-1; lead driver <--> chase driver
⭒Sprint: race has more drivers
⭒Dig: refers to all participants toeing a line, aligning the front tire of the vehicles, after which all vehicles race from a stop to a prearranged point
My car came to a screeching halt as I slammed on the brakes, which were new. I got them changed a week ago, I have fried the old ones off after the toge race I pulled off in the mountains. My jaw was set tightly as I took in a deep breath, long fingers tightening against the leathery wheel.
“What are you doing—”
“Get out.” I snapped; eyes focused on the road ahead. The other female in the car gasped quietly before I heard her huff in annoyance.
“What did you just say?”
“Get out, Jennie.” I snapped more aggressively this time as my head whipped around, shooting dagger at her. She looked incredulous as she didn’t make any moves to get out of my car. I wasn’t having it anymore; I just couldn’t focus with her around.
“Are you seriously kicking me out of your car when we’re one block away?” She hissed, lips pulled into a snarl, making me smirk at her in annoyance.
“Yes, I am.” I told her, leaning back in my seat, “Get. Out.”
She didn’t have much of a choice as I glared her down, Jennie’s fierce eyes staring back just as harshly while she bit her lower lip. It didn’t take long for her eyes to fill with tears, which were faker than the eyelashes she had on, and I just rolled my eyes before she finally undid her seatbelt and grabbed her purse aggressively.
“I can’t believe you!” She screamed as she threw open my car’s door, making me hiss when it cracked open loudly, “You’re seriously throwing me out of your car on a deserted road in the middle of the night?!”
“Maybe you shouldn’t have fucked my fiancé a week before our wedding, cousin.” I hissed at Jennie, who was also my cousin, as I revved the engine of my 3gen burgundy Honda Prelude. The car was a gem and I cherished it dearly, taking more care of her than I have ever taken care of myself.
“I told you he was—” Jennie started shrieking as she slammed the car’s door shut, her window having been rolled down, but I quickly pressed the button to roll it up and sped off, not wanting to hear another sound coming from her mouth. It’s not like I dropped her off miles away from the car meet, she was just a block away. She should be thankful I even gave her a ride after everything she made me go through not even four months ago.
I thought Jennie and I were like sisters, always there for each other no matter what the matter was. We could talk about anything and discuss all of our issues. I confided in her when problems arose with my fiancé, and her advice had been the best, it helped our relationship…until it completely shattered. Until she went and slept with San like he wasn’t engaged to me, just a week away from his own wedding. She would’ve been the bridesmaid, but there was no wedding to be held. I called it off the second San drunkenly told me about his infidelity, and I also took all of my stuff and moved out from our shared apartment. Indeed, it was a rash decision, in the spur of the moment as my head was coated with anger, hurt and betrayal, but I couldn’t stand to see his face for even one more second longer.
The small house I rented out wasn’t in the best part of the city and it was far from being luxurious, but it worked for now. It felt cozy and the neighborhood was quiet…unless Song Mingi was out and about, keeping everyone up on the street with his obnoxiously loud Dodge Challenger. The car was a specimen, however, truly rare as it was well kept and had zero flaws. Mingi took great care of it and never failed to show it off. Even if it was in the middle of the night, when people were trying to relax and sleep as he didn’t seem to care. Whether he had just come home from racing or God’s knows from where or he was bringing girls over and showing off…he’d keep the engine running for at least ten minutes before he finally shut it off. Mingi and I had known each other for more than a year now as the both of us go to the same car gatherings and do the same illegal street races, and even better than that, we’ve raced each other countless of times already. There was only one problem with him and that was his obnoxiously large ego. His car was good, he was a skilled racer, and he knew he looked good. So, all three combined made him an insufferable jerk and I couldn’t stand being around him for more than five minutes. Imagine my shock when I moved in across from him, his car being the give away of who my neighbor would be for an undetermined time. And what made it even worse…was his bedroom facing the main road whereas it was my living room facing it, and Mingi seemed to not know the concept and usage of curtains. Whether he didn’t do it purpose, seriously have major doubts about that, or it was on purpose, it seemed to be his habit to strip naked and change in front of his windows. He never gave it away that he knew I could see him, so out of embarrassment, I never brought it up to him. Not that this would ever be something I would talk to him about, I try to stay away from that prick as he gets on my last nerve. But some things were inevitable and I would be lying to myself if I said his body wasn’t perfect from top to bottom.
I rolled down both windows of my car as I turned down the usually deserted road, which was now filled to the brim with cars on both sides, creating a pathway in the middle. People were swarming between the cars, looking at them and talking to each other. Some were even fighting, needing to be separated as I slowly rolled down the pathway, nodding my head at the familiar faces as they sent waves my way. My arm hung through the window as I steered with one hand, headed to my usual spot. People who were regulars in the illegal races had their own spots and were paid fairly better than the newcomers. Which meant it was totally worth it to race…unless the cops caught you, it was game over then. I put my car in reverse as I carefully parked my car, Soonyoung cheering loudly from the side as he watched, gaining more people’s attention. I rolled my eyes at his theatrics. Soonyoung and I have met three years ago, at a race where we both drifted off into the ditches. Unfortunately his car suffered unfixable damage, unlike mine. The Universe must’ve been on my side that day, because I was convinced I was going to die, yet here I was…unmarried and completely miserable as I plastered on the most genuine looking fake smile on my face that I could.
“Hey, buddy!” I greeted him as I got out of the car, knocked breathless when Soonyoung’s best friend raced towards me, colling into my body and lifting me up into a hug as he started twirling me around aggressively. I had to hold onto his body out of fear of scratching my own car and Soonyoung’s purple Subaru BRZ as my legs gripped around Wooyoung’s waist tightly.
“You made it!” He shouted into my ear and I cringed, crying out as he abruptly stopped, giving me whiplash, “Soonyoung said you were coming but seeing the time—I thought you changed your mind.”
“I didn’t,” I breathed out as Wooyoung finally released me, only for Soonyoung to engulf me into a hug; they both knew I hated hugs, yet never stopped tackling me into one, “But my mother made plans for me and forced me into picking Jennie up—”
“That bitch!” Wooyoung called out at the same time as Soonyoung went off saying, “I thought you were past the age where your mother tells you what to do.”
“Yeah, okay,” I shrugged, pushing my hands into the pocket’s of my leather jacket, “I didn’t know until I got there, Soonyoung, and yes, Jennie is a bitch, Wooyoung.”
“She is! Oh, my God, how dare she still face you after everything she’s done?!” Wooyoung seemed to be annoyed all of a sudden as he huffed, making Soonyoung glance at him. His eyebrows were furrowed as he nodded in agreement. They both hated my cousin, rightfully so, and I did too.
“She still blames it all on San—”
“Bullshit!” Soonyoung suddenly exclaimed, his face pulled into a scowl, “Where’s she anyway? I don’t see her in your car.”
“I kicked her out a block away.” I couldn’t help but giggle as I told my two friends the shit I pulled off. In full honesty, I really couldn’t listen to her ramble on about her apparently picture-perfect life anymore. I hated her guts, I really did. After she ruined my life she had the nerve to rub hers in my face? I don’t think so, not anymore at least; I have made myself very clear after the ugly hysterical fit I had at my mother’s. Soonyoung and Wooyoung shouldn’t have cackled as loudly as they had, palms pressing against their mouths as they congratulated me for being a bad bitch. I wasn’t, I was simply triggered and still hurting.
“You’re iconic, love.” Wooyoung said as he reached out and touched a wavy strand of my hair. I wasn’t planning on dressing up tonight, but something pushed me to do. It’s been too long since I have looked put together, I have missed feeling beautiful and desirable, “And you look absolutely amazing.”
“Thank you.” I bowed playfully as Soonyoung grinned, bumping his shoulder against Wooyoung’s.
“Dressed up for a certain someone to see?” He teased with a wiggle of his eyebrows.
“As if!” I exclaimed and rolled my eyes, knowing very well Soonyoung was referring to Mingi. No, that prick deserved none of my attention or effort, “Before you can spew out more nonsense, I’ll head over to Hongjoong and enter my name in the race.”
“Oh!” Wooyoung exclaimed with excitement as I walked out from between my car and Soonyoung’s, “Which one are you entering?”
“Which one should I?” I stopped to think for a moment as a wicked grin crossed Soonyoung’s features.
“Do the two blocks drifting one.” He instructed with a glint in his eyes and I narrowed mine at him, wondering why he had that face while suggesting such a mild race. Wooyoung glanced at our friend for a second before realization crossed his features and he giggled into his palm, avoiding eye contact with me.
“Fine, but I have a feeling I shouldn’t trust the two of you…” I muttered as Soonyoung and Wooyoung high-fived each other and sent a wink my way, turning their backs as they went to join their other friends once I took off.
My strides were long as I was headed towards the front, where the checkered flag was being waved aggressively, the path having gotten narrower as I was forced to push my way through the crowd. People were loud around me as they cheered for the driver of their choice, egging them on to show a better performance, to win. Four cars were lined up at the starting line, about to start a Sprint. Seonghwa, Hongjoong’s right hand and who handled the races in this part of the town, went and checked on every driver before he walked up to the front, standing in between two cars, holding the checkered flag as he raised his hand. People started shouting like crazy as Seonghwa started counting down and then, dropped the flag, the cars shooting off one by one, each fighting to win the race. I recognized one car, Choi Jongho’s, he was a newcomer but he was rising in the ranks rapidly, creating a name for himself on these streets. Hongjoong stood to the side, leaning against a pole as he was counting the money in his hands, smirking at Seonghwa as he approached him once the coast was clear of any speeding cars. I watched the two as I approached them, Seonghwa talking to Hongjoong softly as the shorter one reached out for his waist with one hand, placing something in the taller one’s back pocket with his other hand. I raised my eyebrows at them as I came to a stop in front of Hongjoong, Seonghwa’s mouth closing abruptly as he stopped talking. Apparently I wasn’t allowed to know what their conversation was about.
“Oh, hey.” Hongjoong’s demeanor changed as he greeted me with a friendly smile, “You’re racing tonight?”
“I sure am.” I said with a grin and Seonghwa took out a small notebook, eyebrows furrowed as he searched for a pen.
“Which category?” He asked as he finally found it and watched me expectantly. I was feeling like going for a Dig tonight, but I remembered what Soonyoung had told me.
“Drifts, the two blocks one.” I said casually, making Hongjoong look up. He looked a little bit surprised as he shared a look with Seonghwa, one which I didn’t understand. But Seonghwa just hummed and jotted my name down in the notebook before he looked up.
“The usual sum?” I nodded and handed them two stacks of money as Seonghwa jotted down the amount, Hongjoong taking the stacks from my hand with a hungry glint in his eyes. I lingered for a second as I wanted to ask who I’d be racing against tonight, but I changed my mind and thanked the two instead as I walked back to my car, deciding that I wanted to live dangerously tonight. Not knowing my rival made it more satisfying when I would win, not having made a strategy for myself beforehand as I didn’t know who the person would be and their driving style. My mind and body craved for the little adrenaline racing infused into my bloodstream and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the prize too.
Of course, I should have known by Soonyoung and Wooyoung’s giggles that they were setting me up. Losing tonight was as possible as winning, really, it would be about who was more skilled and faster. I watched Mingi’s black 2000 Dodge Challenger pull up to the start line, front tires on the line just like mine. The rumble of his car’s engine was already a tell-tale sign of whom I’d be racing tonight, and I couldn’t help but curse as I saw Wooyoung and Soonyoung high-five each other on the sidelines before showing me a thumbs-up. I could only scowl at them as Seonghwa walked around, gathering money as people made bets on who would win this time. Mingi’s window was rolled down and I saw movement from my peripheral so I looked over lazily, raising an eyebrow at him as he waved his ring clad fingers at me in a mocking way. I rolled my eyes and rolled down my own window, Mingi’s mouth already opening to speak up.
“Evening, doll.” He called over the loud crowd and rumble of our cars engines, “Fancy losing tonight?”
“Don’t get too cocky now, Mingi.” I plastered on a fake smile, “I might smoke you out.”
“I have to admit your ass is pretty fine—” He paused for a dramatic effect as my jaw clenched, knowing well he meant it both ways; car’s and my ass, “but I don’t plan on looking at it for too long tonight.”
I chuckled and pushed my wavy hair behind my shoulders as I leaned over the middle console, my low-cut top not leaving much to imagination, “I would hate to kick you off your high-horse, sweetheart, but your Dodge got nothing compared to my Honda.”
“I thought I have showed you my skills countless times, doll.” The way Mingi caught his lower lip between his teeth shouldn’t have made my stomach flip, but I couldn’t help it as my eyes remained fixed on them. Then, Mingi suddenly smirked as if he could see even from the distance where my eyes were fixated and he lowered his sunglasses slightly, leaning over his open window, “You seem to have forgotten, let me remind you tonight.”
My skin got covered in goosebumps at the offer in his tone, knowing damn well what he was talking about. And it wasn’t about racing anymore. But I wouldn’t let him know how quickly his words could make my body react, therefore, I just leaned back in my seat and started revving the engine of my burgundy car, smirking at Mingi as a displeased look crossed his face. I rolled up my window as he started revving his, Seonghwa having made it between our cars with a flag in his hands. He grinned at Mingi before looking at me, earning a firm nod from me. I decided to take a peek at Mingi swiftly, wondering how he could still see and drive while wearing sunglasses at night, but I quickly pushed all thoughts away as Seonghwa’s hands raised. I gripped the steering wheel tightly with my left hand as my right went to grip the gear stick, eyes set on the road ahead. My left foot was on the shift pedal and the second Seonghwa released the flag, I kicked into action as I shifted into first gear and shoot off, leaving Mingi in a dust behind as I worked my way up through the gears, focusing on the road only, familiar with Mingi’s driving. Beating him tonight would be a piece of cake.
The windows were fogged up and the leather was scrapping against my knees painfully as I panted, eyebrows scrunched together as I tried to find the perfect rhythm. Mingi’s calloused hands were gripping my waist but he wasn’t doing anything, he was just watching me with an open mouth, leaning forward to press his reddened lips against my flushed skin in no time. He would grunt from time to time as my hips moved up and down, his dick deep inside, hitting every sensitive nerve I had as his tongue licked against my collarbone before I felt him sucking. The small top I was wearing was of no-good use as Mingi’s right hand came up to grope my left breast and I whined as my thighs were starting to strain. It wasn’t a surprise that I have ended up in Mingi’s car not long after our race, which he had won this time, panting and on top of him, desperate for my own release as Mingi didn’t do anything, as he tortured me longer than it was necessary. Mingi’s lips trailed upwards, kissing and biting the skin of my neck before he kissed behind my ear, making me whine as I fastened my pace. A low groan left Mingi’s lips as his nose pressed against the skin of my neck, his hot breath hitting my skin uneven.
“Fuck, I can’t take this any longer.” I panted out, hands tangling into Mingi’s black hair as he slightly pulled back to look up at me. His pupils were blown and his eyes were hazed over with lust, yet he still managed to smirk as his hands went around my naked waist and grabbed my bare ass, helping me out as I moaned loudly, going faster with Mingi’s help. My walls clenched down around him and in response Mingi cursed quietly, biting my neck as his fingers dug into the flesh of my ass, soon enough his body leaning back into the leather cushion of his passenger seat. My arms went to hold onto the headrest of it, whimpers getting louder as my lower region burned, desperate for a release after so much teasing and edging from Mingi. His grunts were constant as I gyrated my hips more frequently, my lower lip in between my teeth as suddenly Mingi hit the sweet spot, making me stutter out a gasp as my walls clenched down around him.
“Fuck.” He cursed in a low rasp, hands releasing me as his hands raised behind his head, eyes shut close for a second, “Fuck, tell me I’m better. He could never fuck you like this, doll.”
My eyebrows furrowed as I went down on his dick again, but missed the angle I have previously found. My brain was in a haze, and I didn’t want his words to register as I continued chasing for an orgasm, but Mingi just wouldn’t shut up, “San could never make you feel this good.”
My body stiffened and muscles contracted as I was snapped out of whatever euphoria I was feeling at the moment, face contorted into disgust as I threw a glare at Mingi, “Why the fuck would you bring up my ex-fiancé during sex, Mingi?!”
Mingi gulped as he opened his eyes, forehead covered in a sheer coat of sweat, “Why? Are you not over him yet?”
I hated the arrogance dripping from his voice, the way he was looking at me, with such superiority, as if he was better, “It’s been four months, only. Would you be over the person you’ve loved for six fucking years and were meant to get married to?”
“I certainly wouldn’t start mopping about it during sex with another man—”
“You brought him up, he wasn’t even in my mind.” I snapped as we remained unmoving, Mingi’s hands latching onto mine against the headrest as he squeezed them.
“He better not be while I have my dick inside you, doll.” Mingi rasped and I scoffed, leaning closer to him, our lips almost touching.
“You sound an awful lot like you’re jealous, sweetheart.” I whispered against his lips before I licked his lips, Mingi’s eyes darkening for a second as he shifted underneath me. He only moved slightly, but the burning and yearning was back as my eyebrows furrowed, “You talk too much. Shut up and fuck me brainless, Mingi.”
“Gladly, doll.” Mingi whispered as he suddenly thrusted upwards, making me yelp in surprise as he suddenly started moving. He wasted no time as he moved fast and sharply, slamming back in before I could even meet his thrusts. My head fell back as I braced myself against his shoulder and neck, mouth open as whimpers kept falling and falling. Mingi’s length reached places nobody’s had before and with his precise and sharp thrusts my thoughts were slowly becoming incoherent again. His face was contorted into pleasure as his eyebrows pulled together, a moan slipping out every now and then as his left hand pushed against the roof of his car as his right hand came down to grab my hips and maneuver them to his liking. The fire was quickly building up in my stomach now with his continuous thrusts and it was starting to get harder and harder to focus on anything else but on chasing my own release. Mingi suddenly leaned up and circled his left arm around my torso as he flushed our bodies together, pivoting his hips up at a relentless pace, making me keen against his ear as my fingers tangled into his hair tightly. Mingi moaned loudly and fucked me harder as I moved messily against him, toes curling from the feeling.
“Fuck, Mingi—” My voice broke off into a loud moan as he finally found my sweet spot again, walls clenching down on him tightly. Mingi gasped and pressed his tall nose against my collarbone as he hit the spot again and again, his moans strained as I screwed my eyes shut, moving my hips in time with his, my hand coming down between us to rub circles against my clit.
“Doll—” Mingi groaned as my muscles tightened, so close to releasing finally as I threw my head back, Mingi’s name falling off my lips in whispers and broken moans. I could feel Mingi twitching inside me constantly and I knew he was close too as his breathing got even more uneven and arms tensed against my body as he leaned back, suddenly holding my jaw, making my eyes snap open, “Look me in the eyes.”
And so I did as I rubbed against my clit faster, Mingi’s thrusts wilder as his hand slipped from my jaw to my neck, putting the right amount of pressure against it. My lips fell open and in a few more desperate thrusts, I was coming undone against Mingi as my body tensed up and spasmed in his arms, moans spilling from my lips until I couldn’t breathe anymore, Mingi’s long fingers cutting off my air. My body shook as euphoria washed over every sense in my body, skin on fire and stomach coiling as I came down crashing hard, ears ringing before I could finally breathe, sputtering nonsense against Mingi’s lips as I fell forward, pressing my lips against his messily. He still hasn’t released yet and as my body went mush in his arms, he continued fucking up into me, head falling back as his moans grew loud. My lips sucked against the sensitive skin of his neck as my body ached from being used too much, but I knew he was close and I wanted him to fill me up.
“Mingi—” I moaned out in pain as my walls felt abused by Mingi’s relentless and messy pace, but when we made eye contact he knew what I was asking of him. His face contorted into pleasure once again and he bit his lower lip and whined as I clenched my walls around his dick, his hands coming to hold onto the headrest as his hips stuttered, stomach stiff as he came too, spilling inside me his warm seed. My stomach twisted at the feeling and I watched Mingi as he panted loudly, pressing his head into the headrest harshly. My right hand cupped his jaw and he lazily blinked his eyes open, watching me with clear eyes. A small smirk crossed his lips as he grabbed me by the nape and pulled me down, our lips meeting for a kiss as we both opened up, tongues meeting in a hot frenzy. I could feel my face heat up as Mingi’s tongue explored my mouth, slowly and sensually, making my skin tingle again as I pressed closer against him, kissing back with the same fervor as he was. He still hadn’t pulled out and I could finally feel the strain in my thighs as everything caught up with me at once, the yearning of my body. I could never get enough of Mingi, but I never allowed myself to think too hard about it. Mingi licked into my mouth with finality, sucking on my tongue before pulling away, a small string of saliva snapping as he went and sucked on my lower lip, making me push him away when he bit down on the soft flesh harshly. He seemed pleased with himself as he trailed his hands down the sides of my body, gripping my hips steadily.
“Wanna go for another race?” He asked seriously and I looked at him with an incredulous look.
“To lose more money that would go to you?” I asked with a scoff, making Mingi smirk as he lightly squeezed my hips.
“So, you do admit I would win again?”
“Don’t think you’re too special,” I rolled my eyes as Mingi smirked, “I’m just too spent after our little session…”
“Poor you,” Mingi mocked and pursed his lips, “Here I was, feeling like going for a second round…”
“I can’t feel my thighs anymore, forget it.” I snapped and made to finally get off him, but Mingi didn’t let me as he smiled, batting his eyelashes at me like he wanted something.
“And if we go home?” He asked airily, jutting his lower lip out, “Will you let me fuck you into the mattress?”
My jaw almost fell open, but I managed to stop myself as I tsked, smirking at him, “Can’t get enough of me?”
Mingi smirked and slightly raised me up by the waist, making me gasp at the friction, “Apparently I can’t.”
I chuckled as Mingi leaned up to peck my lips before lifting me off himself, an unfamiliar glint in his eyes which told me the rumble of our cars engines wouldn’t be the only thing keeping up our neighbors tonight.

Slowly but Also Like All at Once
part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6 | part 7
noah diaz x mirage (aka the literal personification of ‘wait, did you just flirt with me?’ and ‘have been for the past year but thanks for noticing’)
warnings : mirage isn't exactly himself but it's only temporary and also more f bombs dropped
oh shit here comes reek
“Could you— can you transform into, like, a Civic hatchback or somethin’?” Noah inquires quietly after having to clear his throat a bit awkwardly— probably because he’d spent pretty much the entire ride back to Brooklyn in stunned silence, still mulling over Optimus’ request. “Y’know, before we roll into the neighborhood?”
There’s a beat of silence. And Noah wonders if he’s said something wrong.
“I know you did not just ask me to do that,” Mirage snorts then, in a clearly offended tone. Because apparently, Honda Civics are beneath him.
Noah scowls heavily down at the radio.
“Oh, my bad, your highness—” he begins to apologize sarcastically, only to be cut off by the mech.
“You’re not forgiven,” Mirage points out snobbishly.
Noah lets out a frustrated groan, fingers curling inward around his box of electronics— which he’d pulled into his lap earlier amidst the silence, as something to busy himself with, checking if everything was as promised; not crushed— and one of his fingers pokes a hole straight through the worn down cardboard.
“Look,” he sighs. “It’s broad daylight out. My man, Reek, he’s always out front and he’s gonna recognize you in a second flat. Plus, everybody and they mama knows I’m way too fuckin’ broke to be crusin’ ‘round in a Porsche, bro. Come on.”
Mirage’s radio emits a droning buzz, followed by an annoyed groan just as the Porsche begins to slow and pull over.
“The things I do for you,” Mirage snaps. “They’re not natural. It should be studied.”
He pops the driver side door open.
“Out.”
Noah’s brows furrow, confused, but nevertheless he does as he’s told and climbs out with his box still in hand. He rounds the Porsche and steps onto the sidewalk, chuckling awkwardly under his breath as a few pedestrians glance his way when the silver and blue vehicle burns rubber and sends up a puff of smoke as Mirage peels away from the curb.
Noah feels kind of abandoned for a moment.
His chest does that stupid twisty thing that he’d thought it had finally decided to stop doing. He wonders for a moment if he should’ve sucked it up and just not said anything.
But then the loud sound of an engine revving calls his attention and Noah’s jaw drops when a silver Volkswagen Corrado SLC VR6 coupe with blue stripes rolls up to the curb.
It’s definitely not a Civic.
The passenger side window rolls down.
“I hope you know this is like the equivalent of me asking you to shave all your hair off for me.”
Oh.
Noah definitely should’ve just sucked it up. Maybe asked Mirage to drop him off down the block instead. There’s so many other ways he could’ve gone about this.
He feels like shit. And it shows in the way his shoulders droop and he lowers his head, looking up at the Corrado kind of sheepishly.
“I’m just yanking your chain, sweetspark,” Mirage admits casually. “I don’t give a flying frag. Hop in.”
The words are said so flippantly, Noah almost misses the new term of endearment the bot somehow manages to sneak in there— at least he thinks it’s a term of endearment anyways; the cybertronian version of sweetheart.
His cheeks flood with a swift rush of heat. And he tells himself it’s just because of the stifling heat outside. But he can’t exactly explain away that stupid hot jabbing sensation in his chest that’s also decided to make a sudden return.
He huffs and rounds the car once more, Mirage opening and closing the door for him as he climbs inside.
“You’re a dick,” Noah grumbles beneath his breath as he sets his box down on the passenger seat then fastens his seatbelt, his face still flushed.
“Yeah, but it’s not like you didn’t already know that.”
God damn him, he’s right too.
Noah decides to ignore him for the next few minutes it takes for them to roll up outside his apartment building— evading the bot’s comments and questions with a few spaced-out hums. Instead, he keeps watch out the window for anyone who knows him too well and might think it’s weird for him to be pulling up in a strange car. A car that Noah still— despite the change into a Volkswagen— could never be able to afford.
Mirage’s engine cuts off as soon as he pulls over, after expertly parallel parking between a Mazda 626 and an old Lincoln town car Noah recognizes as Mr. Delano’s, a senile old man that lives a few doors down from him and sometimes gets into shouting matches with the ghost of his ex-wife, Shirley.
“Ladies and gents, we have arrived at our destination,” Mirage announces through the radio with a crackle of static— and Noah thinks he does it on purpose, to make the dumb joke sound more authentic. “974 Wilson Avenue. You may now unfasten your seatbelts.”
It’s adorable, unfortunately, and Noah can’t help the smirk it pulls out of him.
“Got ‘em.”
Noah shakes his head and turns to look out the window— hoping that it somehow hides the quickly-growing full blown smile on his face from Mirage.
Across the street, Mrs. Moreno’s triplets are playing double dutch with a long jump rope that obviously used to be a few smaller jump ropes, which have now been tied together.
“So, I’m picking you up later tonight, right?” Mirage inquires after a moment, his playful tone falling into a far more somber one— like he’s kind of scared Noah’s going to say no. “After you talk to your family and pack?”
The smile on Noah’s face drops.
He’s had a long ride back to Bushwick to think about the answer to that question. A long time to think on Optimus’ offer. And he still doesn’t know what he’s going to do.
Or maybe some part of him does but he’s torn between his options.
On one hand, he has to face his ma— who’s already gonna tear him a new one for missing dinner and not checking in— and tell her he’s leaving again, with barely an explanation as to why. And on top of that, he has to explain it to Kris too. At least when it comes to his little brother, he can give the kid a version that’s closer to the truth.
On the other hand, he has to do something that he’s pretty sure is gonna break his heart; say goodbye. Might break Mirage’s heart too— or rather, his spark.
A few buildings down, Noah can see Mr. Jackson’s son— Noah thinks his name is Paulie— feeding the neighborhood stray cats, something that usually brings his neighbor, Mrs. Vargas, out with a broom in her hand, yelling at him in Spanish because she hates that the ‘pequeños demonios’ keep eating the plants she has on her windowsills.
Except Paulie doesn’t speak Spanish and usually just waves obliviously.
Noah glances down at the radio and heaves a soft sigh.
“Mirage,” he begins to say. “Look, dude, I don’t know if—”
Mirage’s radio releases a garbled, high-pitched whine that makes Noah wince a bit.
“Aw, come on,” the bot moans— and Noah imagines that if the mech were in his rootmode, he’d be kicking his legs in a fuss. “You can’t leave me with those tightasses, man!”
Noah huffs softly beneath his breath, digging his teeth into the smooth skin on the inside of his bottom lip.
“I’ll beg if I have to, gorgeous.”
Motherfucker…
Noah’s just about had it with him.
Mostly just because he thinks his heart might give out with the way it keeps tripping over a beat every time the mech uses one of those goddamn pet names.
Is it flirting? It feels like flirting. But Noah’s not sure. Because he’s a loser and he doesn’t actually know the first thing about flirting. He’s never had time for that before.
He’d always been too busy serving in the army and then running around, worrying about Kris, to even let himself stop and think about something as frivolous as trying to get his flirt on.
Plus, Noah doesn’t know if cybertronians even know what flirting is.
Sure, it feels deliberate. But it’s totally possible Mirage is just repeating shit he’s heard on the streets, or on TV. Right?
Noah’s eyes widen.
What the hell is he even thinking?
He shakes his head.
“Look, Noah. I know this is… a big decision,” Mirage comments softly. “I really want you to come with me. I mean, come on, man. We’re partners. But I’ll understand if you don’t.”
Why does the mech have to be so freaking sweet about it too?
Noah wants to dig the heels of his palms into his eyes and push until he starts seeing stars.
“How about I give you some time to think about it?” the bot suggests. “I’ll drop by later tonight. That sound like a plan?”
Noah just nods. Because he doesn’t trust his voice not to betray him in that moment and drop like he’s some kind of pre-pubescent teenager.
The Corrado’s driver side door clicks open.
Noah unfastens his seatbelt.
“Don’t forget your gizmos,” Mirage reminds him pointedly. “I know how important they are to you.”
A sharp squawk from a few feet away has Noah’s head snapping up to see a wide-eyed Reek— who’d clearly crossed the street, headed in Noah’s direction— trip over nothing but air and go down hard on the pavement.
“Oh, shit,” Noah exclaims, jumping out of the Corrado. “You aight, man?” He zips over to his fallen friend’s side and reaches down to help the man up.
Reek, with the help of Noah who’s got ahold of one of the other man’s shoulders, stands on shaky feet. His nose is busted and a small rivulet of blood is running over his lip and down his chin.
“Shit, bro, you’re bleedin’,” Noah tells him.
But Reek doesn’t seem to be paying Noah or the blood on his face any mind. No, instead he’s gawking at the Corrado behind Noah.
Noah feels his muscles tense.
“Noah…” Reek begins slowly. “Did that motherfuckin’ car just talk?”
Noah thinks he should be commended for the way he immediately snaps into action, releasing his friend and taking a step back, forcing out a chuckle that’s only kind of awkward.
“A talking car?” he snorts, reaching back to shut the Corrado’s driver side door in a way he really hopes looks chill and unbothered. “Man, you trippin’. You been smokin’ way too much of that chronic shit.”
He hears the window make a whirring noise that clearly means Mirage is rolling it down and he steps back again— his backside coming into contact with the driver side door— in an attempt to shield it from Reek’s view.
“Don’t play with me, man!” Reek cries out, pointing at him. “I ain’t crazy. I know what I just seen with my own two eyes!”
Noah’s eyes widen and he takes a moment to glance around the street, hoping their little spat isn’t drawing any unwanted attention.
“So, I’ma ask you again, dawg,” Reek snaps. “Did that motherfuckin’ car just talk?”
“No?” Noah tries again.
“Yes.”
The admission comes from over Noah’s shoulder and Noah absolutely freezes.
“What the fuck…” Reek breathes out, utterly stunned. “It just talked again. The fuckin’ car just talked.”
Noah turns his head to the side for a second and narrows his eyes down at the silver and blue Corrado.
“Shut up,” he whispers, both hands fisted at his sides, before he whirls back around to face Reek. He stubbornly ignores the way the metal at his rear warms up and seems to tremble.
“It just talked again,” Reek is babbling away, his wild gaze jumping between the car and Noah. “It talks. It’s a talking car. The fuckin’ car just talked again, Noah.”
“No, it didn’t!” Noah denies immediately— unable to control the way his voice rises in pitch in his panic.
Mrs. Moreno’s kids pause their game of double dutch for a second to glance across the street at them.
Noah reaches up and waves at them dumbly until they return to their game.
“Yes, I did,” Mirage’s voice contradicts— and Noah’s gonna kill him, strip him for parts, something, because the asshole sounds proud of it too.
He snaps and whirls back around.
“God damn it, Mirage,” he stresses, forcing his voice to stay low and ignoring Reek’s ravings behind him. “So much for being a master spy. Announce it to the whole world while you’re at it, why don’t you? Way to be slick, dude.”
“Oh, I can show you slick,” Mirage’s sly voice drawls. “All you gotta do is ask nicely, baby. I’ll put on a real good show for you.”
Okaaaay.
Noah thinks it’s finally safe to assume that Mirage isn’t just repeating shit he’s heard on the streets or on TV. This is definitely deliberate.
Noah thinks even the back of his neck flushes this time around.
He bites out an exasperated groan and bends down to lean into the Corrado’s cabin as Mirage rolls his engine over, reaching out for his box. He steadfastly ignores the way the metal digging into his stomach vibrates just a little more than strictly necessary.
“We’re gonna have a serious conversation about this later,” he points out, glaring at the radio as he pulls the box into the driver’s seat so he can get a better grip on it. “Now get outta here before you give my friend a heart attack.”
“Yes, sir,” Mirage taunts immaturely— and Noah’s sure that had the bot been in his rootmode, he would’ve stuck his tongue out at Noah. If that’s even what it’s called. Noah knows he has one, he’s noticed it before.
Noah yanks his box out of the car and, reaching out to grab ahold of Reek’s arm, moves them both over to the sidewalk where he can do nothing but sigh as Mirage once more peels away from the curb with a shriek of screeching tires— damn near scratching the faded paint on Mr. Delano’s Lincoln.
“Noah…”
Noah turns to face Reek, his freckled cheeks absolutely still blazing away.
The man’s got one brow firmly arched. And he still looks kind of blanched, something Noah’s never seen from him before, but he’s also got this wary look on his face
“Look, man, I can explain—”
“Noah,” Reek begins again, tentatively— like he’s about to ask something that even he can’t quite believe he’s going to ask. “Did you fuck that car?”
Noah damn nearly chokes on his own tongue.

my one beef with the modern K24/LS/2JZ universal swap thing is that we sort of lost the fun of mixing engines from the one OEM. Like swapping a 2.4L hyundai theta ii engine into a little gen1 i20 makes a whole lot of sense to me, but the internets consensus has become “dont waste your time, just gotta K24 swap it and have that aftermarket support”
dont get me wrong, having that support is great and saves money, but are we putting all of our eggs into the one basket?
yes honda is still manufacturing K motors, and GM is still making the LS, but toyota has discontinued the 2JZ 15 years ago, even the Ford Barra is never getting renewed.
what im saying is, these engine will in time run out, and since we have never bothered trying to mess with any other motors, we’ll never know if they could replace them as a go-to swap. we only ever went with K motors because they were cheap, plentiful and made heaps of power from factory, but the thing about modern engine design is that everything makes good power from factory.
modern valve trains are made to handle 1 bar of boost from factory, and have bottom end built to handle more torque than you could get from an SR20 in the 2010s. they may not rev super high from factory but they have the architecture to get there.
the best example of this is Steph Papadakis building the toyota 2AR engine into the 1000hp beast of FD that we know. that motor doesnt get much love outside of him and his team, but it makes great power with minor bolt ons.
E85, VVTI, direct injection, programmable ECUs, variable intake manifolds and even variable compression ratios mean that tuning modern engines is both much safer than trying to extract an extra 50hp from a 4age, and much easier. even just the port and combustion chamber designs are infinitely better than they were 20 years ago.
basically what im saying is: dont go the easy route when engine swapping your car, there are some very cool, and very cheap alternatives out there, especially for those that love V6s and inline 4s, that can easily surpass the go-to swaps.

2025 Honda NT1100 Review: Time to Reconsider that ADV Purchase?
The updated 2025 Honda NT1100 embodies the ethos of omotenashi, apparently. For the uninitiated (which included me until it was uttered at a presentation before the launch ride in Spain), omotenashi doesn’t directly translate to a single word in English, but rather, it’s all about a feeling of hospitality and mindfulness, and is closely associated with the hosting of the Japanese tea ceremony. Right. Linking that to riding a motorcycle seems a bit of a stretch, but I can see what they’re getting at. The NT1100 is a bike that’ll look after you, and whisk you to your destination in about as much comfort as is possible for something on two wheels. And thanks to a raft of changes, it should be better than ever at completing that task.
Subscribe to our Newsletter
To suss out the effectiveness of the changes, I rode the bike in DCT form with the electronic suspension specced at the international launch in southern Spain.
The side profile of the new bike
Price, colours and availability
The base model NT1100 (manual gearbox) will be available in the UK for £12,679, making it the same price as the previous model year version. Likewise, the NT1100 DCT will cost no more than previously at £13.679. The new flagship model in the range, the NT1100 DCT Electronic Suspension, will be landing in UK dealers with a list price of £14,099, meaning the trick Showa suspension upgrade is only a £420 premium. Looking at the competition, the closest to the top-spec NT from Yamaha comes in the form of the Tracer 9 GT which commands a price of £13,216. The £15,569 Kawasaki Versys 1000 SE could also be looked at as a competitor to the new top-spec NT, although with more power than the Honda, its slightly higher price seems justified. The bikes are expected to be in UK dealerships in the new year (hopefully around January) and each variant of the bike will be available in either Mat Warm Ash Metallic, Gunmetal Black Metallic, and Pearl Hawkseye Blue, each of which is a new colour for 2025.
a front view of the 2025 NT1100
What’s new with the 2025 NT1100
Starting with the engine of the bike, which is the same across the range, the 1,084cc parallel twin-cylinder unit now features a new larger 33mm intake ducts, and intake trumpets that are 65mm longer than before. The NT1100 also features a revised combustion chamber and a new exhaust system, as well as updates to the ECU to suit the revised engine.
The engine of the 2025 NT1100 The updates are responsible for boosting low and mid-range torque by a claimed seven per cent without sacrificing any peak power - a claimed 100bhp at 7,500rpm. Peak torque is also claimed to have increased, from the 76lb ft of the 2024 bike up to 82lb ft of the new machine. Peak torque is also achieved slightly lower in the rev range arriving at 5,500rpm on the 2025 model, not the 6,250rpm of the 2024 model.
Nissin brake calipers The bore and stroke of the Africa Twin-derived engine are the same as before (92mm with an 81.5mm stroke) although the changes to the combustion chamber have raised the compression ratio slightly, taking it from 10.1:1 to 10.5:1. As before, there’s a 270-degree crankshaft to give an offset firing order. As before, riders can either choose fully automated shifting or button-operated shifting via the paddles on the left handlebar. Shifting schedules for automatic mode remain as D, the most economical, and S which has three levels to choose from - with three being the most sporty and aggressive.
The TFT screen of the NT Along with the electronic and mechanical updates for this year, the NT1100 will also feature revised styling, headlined by a new fairing which is partially constructed from a bio-degradable material called Durabio. The front fairing is said to give the 2025 bike a ‘smaller, sleeker ‘face’’, while the tail unit has also been tweaked. Nestling on top of the redesigned fairing is a revised screen, which features 167mm of adjustment through five steps. Rounding out the new bodywork is a 150mm longer front mudguard for improved weather protection.
New indicators are included One welcome addition to the new model is the revised indicators which are now incorporated in the headlights, and not on their own stalks as was previously the case. The positioning of the indicators on the outgoing model meant the positioning lights would reflect in the fairing-mounted wind deflectors which could be a little distracting, hopefully mounting them within the projector headlight (which also features a DRL) should cure that issue.
The panniers are now larger than before Another upgrade for 2025 is the inclusion of larger panniers that are claimed to be large enough to stow a full-face helmet within. The new boxes are 25mm deeper than before, yet still mount to the existing fixing system, and now boast 37 litres on the left and 36 litres on the right, up from 33 and 32 litres provided by the outgoing machine.
Cornering on the NT1100
New Showa EERA for 2025
Probably the most headline-grabbing update to the NT1100 for 2025 is the inclusion of the new DCT Electronic Suspension version of the bike. Like the existing Africa Twin ES models, the new top-spec NT’ gains the Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (EERA) system. Equipped with settings specifically developed for the NT1100, the system automatically adjusts the damping based on information from the ECU, the IMU and a stroke sensor. The system is claimed to adjust the suspension just 15 milliseconds after the calculations are completed. Because of this, the Showa system can automatically tweak the suspension of the bike in line with how the machine is being ridden, firming the damping as the speed increases and softening it once the speed reduces. There are three pre-determined suspension modes, Urban, Tour, and Rain, along with a User mode that allows the rider to choose their own remound damping and preload setting. On top of this, the EERA allows the rider to adjust the rear preload of the bike through 24 steps while on the move, regardless of which suspension mode the bike is in.
The 2025 Honda NT1100
What’s it like to ride?
Perhaps the most useful part of the whole press ride wasn’t on the 2025 version of the bike, rather, one on 2024 machine that tagged along with the group. A ride back to back with the new one highlighted just how good that new electronic suspension is. The ride is noticeably busier on the 2024 NT1100, even on reasonably smooth Spanish asphalt. Switch to the 2025 bike, and suddenly everything is ironed out and just shrugged off. Yes, in the hard suspension setting you can still get bounced out of the seat when tackling particularly rough bits of road, but the comfort and composure are still better than on the passive-damped bike. It never crashes through its travel.
A new semi active suspension version is available The medium mode is, perhaps unsurprisingly, probably your best bet for most situations, and works nicely when combined with a bit of extra preload at the rear. The NT doesn’t become wallowy in the soft setting, but there’s noticeably more brake dive. Meanwhile, the engine tweaks result in a parallel twin that seems more eager and refined, although it still feels like a bit of a workhorse, especially compared to Honda’s higher-revving twin found in the XL750 Transalp and CB750 Hornet. It’s gutsy, but not the most exciting. Admittedly, the DCT might well be sapping a bit of fun out of it - slick though the gearbox is - and you do start to warm to the engine when using the shifters on the left-hand switch cube, deciding yourself when exactly you want to buzz up to the redline or short-shift.
The screen can now be adjusted on the fly In sport mode, I never quite felt like I agreed with the shifts the gearbox was making, particularly in the S3 mode in which the bike is too keen to hang onto gears. This leaves the revs sitting annoyingly high long after you’ve calmed down to cruise through the village rudely interrupting your twisty road fun. S2 is a better balance, but still, I found myself wanting to partake in some manual intervention.
The launch event was blessed with perfect weather and roads It’s smoother and more consistent off the line thanks to the nerdy DCT changes, though, and for cruising around normally in D, it’s ideal, with a quiet brilliance to the way it seamlessly shuffles ratios. At that point, you forget all about it, which is the biggest compliment you can pay to a system like this - you’d only be noticing it if it was doing annoying things. And cruising is generally where the NT1100 excels. Yes, it can do the twisty stuff, and much better than you might expect. In fact, much of the route involved winding mountain roads, and up to a point, the NT hides its near 250kg bulk quite well. As soon as things get tighter and more nadgery, though, it starts to feel a little unwieldy, and more pronounced steering inputs are needed to get the thing turned.
Cornering on the NT1100 It also feels as though the foot positioning could be further tweaked. Several times I had my boots brushing the floor when heavily leant over, and I wasn’t the only rider to experience the same on the launch. The new screen is far easier to adjust than the old one, which required you to get off the bike, grasp it with two hands and wrench it up or down in a way that made you wonder if you were going to break the damn thing. The new setup is a little fiddly, but can be done on the move easily enough. I found myself running the screen at half extension, though. When up as high as it’ll go I experienced a helmet-wobbling turbulence at anything over about 50mph. Admittedly, I am six-and-a-bit feet tall and a lot of motorcycle screens aren’t much use to me - if you’re a bit shorter, you’ll be better cocooned.
LED lights feature from the front to the back Something that hasn’t changed is the design of the left-hand switch cube, and it remains spectacularly busy, a bit ugly, and difficult to get your head around initially. In time, I’m sure you’d get used to it, but when so many other positive changes have been made, it seems a shame this bit of the bike has been left as is. It’s also worth pointing out the USB socket is of the A variety, which is fast becoming old fashioned. At this point, though, we’re splitting hairs.
New styling is a subtle tweak compared to the previous NT1100
Should you buy a 2025 Honda NT1100?
Look, I’m not going to judge those who buy an adventure bike for touring, and then never take the thing off road. It happens enough in the car world with people buying high-riding SUVs, with the closest thing they do to off-roading being parking up in a gravel car park. And yet, a more traditional tourer like the NT1100 is going to better serve a lot of these riders who are eying up ADVs, Honda’s own (and NT-related) Africa Twin included. They’re great bikes for munching miles, but to borrow from that pre-ride presentation again, just not quite so omotenashi. There are, though, touring bikes that’ll be more fun at the mountainous destination of your tour while barely any less comfortable on the way there, for instance, the Yamaha Tracer 9. The NT1100 is perfectly competent and does all it needs to, arguably going a little beyond that point, especially given that Honda calls it a ‘tourer’ and refuses to stick the word ‘sports’ before it. The changes make the bike more appealing than ever. What’s more, it’s still excellent value, and if you’re already looking at a DCT-equipped bike (two-thirds of NT1100 buyers go for the auto), it’s such a small jump to spec the electronic suspension that it seems like a no-brainer. Your 116d will absolutely not hold value, mate. It's the bottom of the range 1-series with a non-ULEZ compliant diesel engine and known timing chain issues. On top of that, you've already ticked off 100k miles, which means most maintenance things that need replacing are probably overdue, unless it's been maintained meticulously over the last 11 years. Can't be worth more than £4k today and you'll see that diminish fairly quickly (but far less than with newer cars).
As for GT86s, they are quite unique, being naturally aspirated, lightweight, manual, rear-wheel drive coupes. I would certainly not recommend one to a new driver, as they can lose grip quite easily when rev'ed (and its impossible not to rev with that torque-dip), and unless you've got experience handling oversteer on RWD cars, you will not have a good time.
Personal advice would be to keep the 116d, as your insurance and running costs will be relatively low at the moment, and you will inevitably deal with some minor incidents with it. Once it throws a big bill at you, it will be time to reassess your situation. Alternatively, look to trade for a cheap and reliable Japanese car for the time being. Like a Honda Civic (not the Type R, though).

Key Tips for Buying a Used Car Under $10,000
1. Check the Car’s History
Use a car history report to check for past accidents, ownership history, and title status. This can help you avoid hidden issues. A REVS check is also a good way to verify the car’s details, making sure there are no hidden debts.
2. Consider Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) Models
Certified Pre-Owned vehicles often come with added warranties and go through inspections. While slightly more expensive, they offer added security. You can compare CPOs to regular used cars in Certified Pre-Owned vs. Regular Used Cars: Which is Better?.
3. Inspect the Vehicle Carefully
Before buying, inspect the car thoroughly for any wear, rust, or other damages. It’s often helpful to bring a mechanic or use a checklist to look for common issues. Check out What to Look for When Buying a Used Car: A Comprehensive Guide for more tips.
4. Negotiate the Price
Research the car’s market value before negotiating. Websites like Kelley Blue Book can give you an idea of the fair price for the make and model. You may be able to negotiate a better deal, especially if you find minor faults in the vehicle during inspection.
5. Look at Fuel Efficiency and Maintenance Costs
Some cars are more expensive to maintain than others. Check reliability ratings, potential repair costs, and fuel efficiency, especially if you’ll be using the car frequently. Toyota and Honda are known for low maintenance, while European brands may come with higher repair costs.
6. Test Drive
A test drive is essential to feel out the car’s handling, comfort, and performance. Pay attention to any unusual noises or vibrations and test the brakes, acceleration, and ease of parking.
7. Plan for Resale Value
When you eventually sell the car, a reliable model with a strong resale history can provide a better return on your investment. Some of the top choices here, like the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, tend to hold value well.
Final Thoughts
Buying a used car for under $10,000 is a smart choice if you prioritize savings and practicality. Popular choices like the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Mazda3 offer a mix of reliability, low maintenance, and fuel efficiency. Whether you need a compact car for daily commuting or a larger sedan for family use, there are many great options.

The Versatile Honda Amaze
The Honda Amaze emerges as a cost-effective sedan, catering to both city commuting and long-distance travel. Available in Lunar Silver Metallic, Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, and Meteoroid Grey Metallic, the Amaze combines style with practicality. Boasting 420 liters of boot space, touch sensor-equipped chrome handles, contoured bucket seats, and a multi-function tilt-enabled steering wheel, the Amaze is designed for a comfortable driving experience.
It comes in both petrol and diesel variants, with the petrol model featuring a 1.2-liter i-VTEC engine. The three available variants – Honda Amaze E, Honda Amaze S, and Honda Amaze VX – cater to different preferences and budgets, making the Amaze a versatile choice for a wide range of consumers.
Classic meets Modern: Honda City (5th Gen)
The iconic Honda City, first launched in 1981, continues to impress Indian consumers with its 5th Gen model. This sedan seamlessly blends classic elements with modern features. Available in six vibrant colors – Meteoroid Metallic Grey, Golden Brown Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Obsidian Blue Pearl, and Lunar Silver Metallic – the City offers a luxurious interior, complete with ambient lights, soft-touch door lining, and premium leather upholstery on spacious contemporary seats.
The 4+1-seater sedan promises not just style but also performance, with a high-performance engine designed for better combustion, reduced friction, and lower emissions. The Honda City (5th Gen) is a testament to Honda's commitment to evolving with the times while preserving the essence of its classic models.
Embracing the Future: Honda City e:HEV
For environmentally conscious consumers, the Honda City e:HEV offers a hybrid variant in the same striking colors as its traditional counterpart. With the global shift towards electric vehicles (EVs), the e:HEV presents a compelling option for those looking to embrace eco-friendly mobility. Governments often provide incentives for purchasing EVs, making them not just environmentally responsible but economically advantageous.
Before transitioning to an EV, it's essential to understand the types of electric vehicles available and how to maintain them for optimal performance. The Honda City e:HEV combines the reliability of the traditional City model with a hybrid powertrain, offering a seamless blend of fuel efficiency and eco-conscious driving.
Honda Elevate : Elevating SUV Experience
If an SUV aligns more with your personality or lifestyle, the Honda Elevate, launched in 2023, is a model worth considering. Available in seven colors and three dual-tone options, the Elevate not only focuses on aesthetics but also prioritizes safety. Equipped with a front camera and collision-mitigating technology, along with a rear camera providing a multi-angle view for parking assistance, the Elevate is designed to make driving and parking a breeze.
As of now, the Elevate is exclusively available in a petrol version, catering to those who prefer the robust performance of a petrol engine in their SUV. To enhance the overall driving experience, Honda offers a range of accessories, allowing consumers to personalize their Elevate and make it uniquely their own.
Why Honda Vehicles Deserve Your Consideration
Choosing a new car is a significant financial decision, and Honda ensures that your investment is well worth it. The availability of a wide range of accessories allows you to tailor your vehicle to meet your specific expectations and preferences. Additionally, Honda cars come equipped with Honda Sensing, a comprehensive system designed to minimize the risk of accidents and assist drivers in maintaining safe driving practices.
One notable advantage of opting for a Honda vehicle is the 10-year warranty, providing peace of mind and reflecting the brand's confidence in the durability and reliability of their cars. This extended warranty period is a testament to Honda's commitment to customer satisfaction and the longevity of their vehicles.
Navigating the New Car Journey
While bringing a new car home is undoubtedly an exciting adventure, it's crucial to ensure that all necessary formalities are completed accurately. A registration certificate is a key document that must be kept with you every time you drive the car. Additionally, obtaining motor insurance and a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate is mandatory. PUC certificates, issued by authorized centers, need to be renewed on time to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
In conclusion, Honda's lineup of sedans and SUVs in India offers a diverse range of options, catering to different preferences, needs, and environmental considerations. Whether you opt for the efficient Honda Amaze, the classic Honda City, the eco-friendly Honda City e:HEV, or the robust Honda Elevate, you can trust in Honda's legacy of quality and innovation on the Indian roads. Consider the 10-year warranty, Honda Sensing features, and the array of accessories available to make an informed decision when adding a Honda to your driveway. Happy driving!

What are the warning signs that call for a clutch replacement?
If you drive any car in Melbourne, you must watch for signs that your vehicle's clutch may need replacement. A well-maintained grip is crucial for smooth and efficient driving. Ignoring the warning signs can lead to more significant issues and costly repairs. In this article, we'll discuss some common indicators that suggest it's time for a clutch replacement so you can keep your car running smoothly.
1. Slipping Clutch: One of the most common signs that your clutch needs replacement is a slipping clutch. If you notice that your engine revs increase without a corresponding increase in speed, it's likely your clutch is slipping.
2. Difficulty Shifting Gears: If you have trouble shifting gears smoothly or hear grinding noises when you do, it's a clear indication that your clutch is struggling. Proper gear engagement should be smooth and noiseless.
3. Unusual Smells: A burnt smell from your clutch could indicate overheating due to excessive slipping. That can lead to further damage and should be addressed immediately.
4. Increased Pedal Effort: If your clutch pedal feels unusually heavy or requires more effort to press down, it might be a sign of a worn-out clutch. A failing clutch assembly can put unnecessary strain on your leg and make driving uncomfortable.
5. Frequent Vibrations: Vibrations or shuddering felt through the clutch pedal can indicate a problem with the clutch assembly. That could be caused by a worn clutch plate or a damaged pressure plate, and it's a clear sign that a replacement is needed.
6. Strange Noises: Unusual noises, such as squealing, growling, or rattling, when you depress the clutch pedal can suggest a problem with the release bearing or the clutch itself. These noises should not be ignored and should be addressed promptly by experts.
7. Reduced Fuel Efficiency: A failing clutch can affect your vehicle's fuel efficiency. The constant slipping and loss of power can cause increased fuel consumption, leading to additional costs in the long run.
In conclusion, if you drive a Honda in Melbourne and notice any of these warning signs, it's essential to act promptly and seek the expertise of a Honda service centre in Melbourne. Ignoring these symptoms can lead to further damage, potentially more expensive repairs, and even safety hazards on the road.
Regular maintenance and timely clutch replacements are vital to keep your BMW running smoothly and efficiently. If you need professional BMW services in Melbourne for your vehicle, visit a reputable workshop to ensure the longevity and performance of your car.
