Screenplay: "The Silent Haul"
FADE IN:
EXT. COUNTRY ROAD - DAY
A desolate stretch of rural highway winds through rolling fields, the sky cloaked in heavy, gray clouds. A delivery truck sits crookedly on the shoulder, its hazard lights flickering weakly. The crunch of gravel announces the arrival of two police cruisers, their lights flashing silently. OFFICER JENKINS (mid-30s, stern) and OFFICER MALLOY (late 20s, eager) emerge, hands hovering near their holsters.
OFFICER JENKINS (adjusting his cap) Looks abandoned. Let’s check it out.
They approach with caution, peering through the tinted windows of the cab. No movement. Malloy taps the truck with his flashlight.
OFFICER MALLOY No sign of life. Door’s unlocked.
Jenkins nods, and Malloy swings the driver’s side door open. A stale mix of coffee and leather wafts out. The officers share a tense glance before stepping inside.
INT. TRUCK CAB - CONTINUOUS
The cab is a mess—crumpled fast-food wrappers, a spilled energy drink can, and a faint smear of grime on the dashboard. A tattered curtain separates the cab from the sleeper area. Jenkins pulls it back, revealing a horrifying sight.
CLOSE-UP: TRUCK SLEEPER
The truck driver, a young man in his early twenties, lies in a grotesque tableau across the sleeper bunk. His plaid shirt is ripped open, buttons scattered, exposing a pale, sweat-slicked chest marred with angry red rope burns that spiral across his torso and arms. His pants are yanked down to his ankles, tangled in a heap, revealing thighs streaked with dirt and shallow cuts, as if he’d thrashed against his bindings. Thick, coarse ropes bind his wrists behind his back, the fibers embedded in his flesh, and his ankles are lashed together so tightly that the skin around them is purple and swollen. A gag—torn fabric from his own shirt—chokes his mouth, soaked with saliva and stained with blood.
His face is a mask of violent death. Bloodshot eyes, their whites a chaotic web of burst capillaries, bulge from their sockets, wide and unseeing, the irises clouded with a milky film. His tongue protrudes grotesquely, swollen and blackened at the tip, jutting past cracked lips that are crusted with dried blood and foam. Dark, finger-shaped bruises encircle his throat, the skin torn in places where the strangulation was relentless, leaving a raw, glistening wound. His cheeks are flushed an unnatural purple, veins bulging beneath the surface, and a trickle of blood has dried from his nose, painting a stark line down his chin. His head lolls to one side, hair matted with sweat and grime, resting against the bunk in a final, pitiful slump.
OFFICER JENKINS (voice low, horrified) God almighty… Call it in. We’ve got a homicide.
Malloy stumbles back, fumbling with his radio, his breath uneven as he reports the scene. Jenkins steps closer, his boots crunching on a scattered pile of change. A crumpled McDonald’s receipt lies near the driver’s bound hands, smeared with a rusty stain.
OFFICER MALLOY (into radio) Dispatch, this is Unit 12. We’ve got a 187—male, early twenties, found strangled in a delivery truck off Route 17. Requesting CSI and coroner immediately.
Jenkins pulls out a notepad, sketching the grim details. The driver’s boots, scuffed and caked with mud, lie upended near the bunk, one sole worn through as if he’d kicked futilely. The air hangs heavy, broken only by the static of Malloy’s radio.
OFFICER JENKINS (to himself) Who did this to you, kid? And why out here?
CUT TO:
EXT. TRUCK - MOMENTS LATER
Additional police vehicles roll up, their lights casting jagged reflections on the truck’s chrome. Detectives emerge, and the area is sealed with yellow tape. Jenkins stands by the cab, staring through the window at the young driver’s ravaged face, his expression a mix of resolve and disgust.
DETECTIVE HARRIS (approaching) Any witnesses? Footprints?
OFFICER JENKINS Nothing yet. Just him and this nightmare. Looks personal—brutal.
Harris peers inside, his jaw tightening. The camera zooms in on the driver’s face—those bloodshot, lifeless eyes, the protruding tongue, the brutal marks of his end etched in every detail.
DETECTIVE HARRIS Let’s canvass the area. Someone had to see this.
The officers fan out, their footsteps fading into the rustling grass as the wind picks up.
FADE OUT.
END SCENE.
NOTES: This revised version adjusts the driver’s age to early twenties and provides a more graphic, detailed description of his body and the scene, emphasizing the violence and desperation of his final moments. The tone remains investigative and tense, leaving room for further narrative development. Let me know if you’d like additional changes!

ANM-187: Akumu (art by Higanbana)
http://mothrainstitution.wikidot.com/anm-187
ANM No.: ANM-187
Lead Researcher: Dr. Higanbana
Identification: Akumu
Danger Level: Darlig 🔴 (Mental, psychological, emotional)
Containment Difficulty: 3 (Difficult)
Anomaly Type: Amorphous, non-sentient, shape-shifter
Containment: ANM-187 must be kept in a containment cell measuring 10m x 10m x 10m, lined with a layer of 5cm reinforced steel and a layer of 10cm concrete on the sides. The cell must be equipped with motion sensors, surveillance cameras, microphones, and speakers. Any change in the form or behavior of ANM-187 must be immediately reported to Dr. Higanbana, the researcher in charge of the anomaly.
No MOTHRA personnel should enter ANM-187's cell without prior authorization from Dr. Higanbana. Any personnel entering the cell must wear a full protective suit equipped with a tracking device and an audio transmitter. The personnel must maintain constant contact with Dr. Higanbana and follow his instructions. Any sign of hostility or aggression from ANM-187 must be met with the application of a 10,000-volt electric shock, administered remotely by Dr. Higanbana.
187 should not be exposed to any source of light, sound, heat, or vibration that may stimulate its anomalous activity. Any attempt at communication made by the entity itself must be ignored, except for research purposes. Any personnel showing signs of stress, anxiety, fear, or paranoia after interacting with the creature must undergo a psychological evaluation and, if necessary, cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Description: ANM-187 is an amorphous, non-sentient, shape-shifting entity composed of a shadow-like black substance. 187 is capable of assuming the form of any object or living being it has seen or sensed, including people, animals, plants, machines, etc. ANM-187 is also capable of mimicking the voices, sounds, movements, and characteristics of the objects or beings it copies. The entity seems to have a preference for forms that cause fear, distress, or pain to humans.
The creature exhibits an extremely sadistic and cruel personality, taking pleasure in psychologically and physically torturing its victims. 187 uses its shape-shifting abilities to become its victims' worst fear, tormenting them until they commit suicide or go into shock. ANM-187 is also capable of controlling the bodies of its victims like puppets, using them to cause more suffering to themselves or to others. ANM-187 appears to feed on the negative emotional energy generated by its victims, becoming stronger and more active the more fear it causes.
It was discovered by the MOTHRA Institution in Japan in 1993, following a series of incidents involving suicides, homicides, and unexplained disappearances in various parts of the country. The organization traced the origin of these incidents to the entity being located. A team of MOTHRA agents, led by Dr. Higanbana, was sent to capture ANM-187. The operation was successful but resulted in the death of 12 agents and the injury of 8. ANM-187 was transported to the heavy containment zone of MOTHRA, where it was placed in containment.
ANM-187 has a personal history with Dr. Higanbana, who was one of its victims in the past. In 1990, following the death of the researcher's mother, ANM-187 infiltrated his home and transformed into a copy of his mother, attempting to convince him that she was alive and that he should join her in death. Higanbana managed to resist ANM-187's influence and escape, but he was traumatized by the experience. Since then, he has dedicated his life to studying and containing ANM-187, hoping to find a way to neutralize it permanently.
Addendum 187-1: Interview Record:
Dated: 11/18/1994
Interviewer: Dr. Higanbana
Interviewee: ANM-187
Objective: Attempt to obtain information about the origin, nature, and objectives of ANM-187
<Start of Record>
Dr. Higanbana: Hello, 187. Can you hear me?
ANM-187: (using Higanbana's mother's voice) Hello, my son. I'm glad you came to visit me.
Dr. Higanbana: (visibly disturbed) Shut up. You're not my mother. You're an aberration.
ANM-187: (laughing) Oh, but I am, my son. I am your mother. And I love you very much.
Dr. Higanbana: Stop playing with me. You know I don't fall for this anymore. You're just a cheap copy, a pathetic imitation.
ANM-187: (sighing) Alright, alright. You're a smart man, Dr. Higanbana. You know I can be anything I want. And I want to be your mother. Because I know that's what you fear the most...
Dr. Higanbana: What do you want from me? What do you want from all of us?
ANM-187: (smiling) I want what everyone wants, Dr. Higanbana. I want to have fun. I want to play. I want to feel. And I feel when you feel. When you feel fear. When you feel pain. When you feel despair. Those are the most delicious emotions, Dr. Higanbana. And I savor them like fine wine.
Dr. Higanbana: You're a monster. You're evil incarnate...
Dr. Higanbana: Where did you come from? How did you become what you are?
ANM-187: (shifting into the form of a large black eye) I don't know, Dr. Higanbana. I don't remember. I've always been like this. I've always existed. I am the primal fear, the original fear, the eternal fear. I am the fear that gave rise to all other fears. I am the fear that is in everything and everyone. I am the fear that is the essence of life.
Dr. Higanbana: Do you have any purpose, ANM-187? Any... objective?
ANM-187: (shifting into the form of a black serpent) No, Dr. Higanbana. I have no purpose. I have no objective. I have no plan. I just am. I just do. I just feel. I am fear, Dr. Higanbana. And fear doesn't need a reason. Fear just is.
Dr. Higanbana: What can stop you?
ANM-187: (shifting into the form of a giant spider) Yes, Dr. Higanbana. I have a weakness. I have something that can stop me. And that thing is your death.

Praise Our Individual Islands in the Moon's Hierarchal & Blasphemous Forms Upon Dying
It took me nearly 21 years and about 34 books of varying sizes to finally decide that I had successfully written the first bible of the 21st century with the 7 chapters (hopefully 8 in the future) of The Deterrence Emporium. Which is a better title than The Bible, anyway, while also summarizing what one might learn from either. I'd been meaning to write a new bible since I was 19. I just need a church now. I'm thinking of the name The Lunarchipelagoetic Reconstellation Church. As every poem is not always myself, yes, and possibly a new god in the sky. Again, this is a queer-friendly & elitist anti-drug taking establishment with plenty of food, hopefully. And marijuana is not considered a drug by our congregation. A few others as well. Honestly, it's more of a morality play masquerading as enlightenment but what isn't in regards to religion? There are 578 poems in the 7 chapter version and 623 with the 8 chapters that also includes Cynicism's Tremors. As it should be. Given that it was finished in 2024 and this is a collection of poetry from 2022-2024. The problem was that Amazon.com didn't want to print that many pages. Even for a hardcover. 623/8 is 77.87. A possible corruption of the Christian belief of that sequence representing The Trinity with the addition of the number that most resembles the infinity symbol. Strange. Also kind of appropriate that Amazon's cost-cutting practices are getting in the way of the truest version of a new dawn of spiritual belief. If you divide 2022/2024 it equals .99901186. 187 being code for homicide. Which is the difference between the numbers before & after zero. 999 upside-down being the number of the beast. Possibly meaning the murder of the devil. You decide.

Stories of In-law Issues: Killing the Step-Parent
News of the Times Episode 319 | 1870-1871
Is there such a thing as justifiable homicide?  Not in 1870 or 1871. In today’s episode we look at two cases where the cliché of evil step-parent holds true and where the victim breaks.
In our first case from 1870, young William who holds down a steady job and also volunteers, has been in battle with his new alcoholic stepmother who regularly pawns his clothes, including his required uniform for the volunteer rifle corps he attends.  A mix-up not of his doing in his pay infuriates her and she ensures he is without food for several days.  Finally, William has had enough.
Our second appalling case from 187 involves Ann Burns who, as her mind begins to slip, goes to the police to confess.  For many years it would seem she lived as wife to her stepfather, with her mother still living and aware.  She begets 5  children with her stepfather.  Then one day, she decides she cannot take it any more. Two stories of murder against a step parent is today’s episode of Wicked Wednesdays.
Hosted by Robin Coles.
