I didn't get to do this last year, nor was i able to go to my school prom so i'd love to see this happen again

Hey. It seems like now that May is approaching we’re getting a handful of people coming out of the woodwork to say they’d like us to put it on again. Unfortunately, we’re short on time now, and both of the mods are pretty busy with real life stuff, and pretty distanced from the fandom nowadays, but if there’s really enough support and enough of an audience, we might be able to pull together a large enough “committee” to get something up and running. (It really is a lot of work.)

But like I’ve been saying, if anyone’s still up for it, you’ve got to kind of speak now or forever hold your peace. 

Alternately, if anyone’s passionate enough about this thing I might even consider passing the baton and handing the blog over to someone new.

The State of Affairs

A few days ago, we got an anonymous message here at the blog from someone who said that with Homestuck seemingly drawing to a close this spring/summer, they'd love to have one last big party once it finally ends. (Bear with me, Anon, because I accidentally deleted your message whilst trying to answer it.)

It was a very sweet sentiment.

And personally, I'd love that too, Anon. If it is indeed the legit end this time. As you might have seen last year, it seemed as though things were ending, and in the months leading up we based our prom around the theme of the end being nigh. But then, of course, Homestuck didn't end, and we looked kind of silly. 

So while I much prefer your idea of the last big party being after the actual end (which will likely coincide with one final massive Homestuck Renaissance), we'd have to have a definite end in sight before we commenced planning, otherwise it'd just be a repeat of last year. 

Mind you, a Last Big Party™ isn't entirely the same as a prom. We'd probably alter the structure of what went down on the night and leading up, meaning we'd need to brainstorm what we were even doing long before we actually got to work.

In short, I'm not totally sure how we'd pull a proper Endstuck, but I definitely feel you.

What I do know is that again, if there's enough community support, and enough of an audience, we're willing to get off our collective ass and set to work putting something on again this year. 

But Promstuck, Endstuck, or whatever else, to make it a reality, we’d need hecka’ help. By which I mean, a significantly more sizeable prom committee. 

So in addition to the two current admins, that’s at least:

Individual blog moderators for the IRL and Date blogs (possibly more than one for each)

Artists

A “DJ” to handle playlists on the night

And at least one more pair of hands on the main blog to help with:

Coordinating prizes

Counting ballots & messaging candidates (that is, if we do prom court again. After last year's fiasco, we might just abolish it completely.)

Interactive event planning

Admin/mod wrangling

Other assorted management shenanigans

To summarize:

A Last Big Party™ to commemorate the end of Homestuck, to be thrown once it actually, legitimately ends (tentatively entitled "Wakestuck??") would be groovy, and I'm sure it would mean a lot to a number of people.

General sentiment here is that we'll organize it if there's enough of a demand for it. We're by the people for the people.

If we do organize it, we'll need a bunch more help running the blogs and managing the event (as it's currently only two of us), so we'll be eagerly searching for volunteers. 

So I guess...yeah.
