Today in the museum, I got a super cool semi-permanent setup in the repair shop where I can work on the revival of Viditel for the coming weeks.

With a little bit of luck I'll be able to work on it as part of an internship for school, and work there as a 9-5 for a while!

The setup consists of:

A simple windows nuc as a working pc

A little nuc with OpenSUSE Tumbleweed as a development platform

A Datatronics Discovery 1200A modem

A Philips P2000T as a Viditel terminal

A miniware viditel modem for the P2000

And a little JVC color CRT that most retro gamers would give their kidney away for

The Dutch computers you’ve never seen – Bart van den Akker, Johan Grip From the HomeComputerMuseum we’ll bring in a few true Dutch computers. The Netherlands were, together with the United States and United Kingdom, one of the first countries to adopt computers. The Dutch are using computers since the 70s and since 1980 in schools. The Philips P2000T is a computer which we’ll bring and is used in schools in the Netherlands. We’ll also bring a few, for US, never seen computers to demonstrate. Of course we can also tell you why an Exidy Sorcerer is common in the Netherlands and what the computers were back in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

HomeComputerMuseum begint crowdfundingsactie voor uitbreiding

Het HomeComputerMuseum in Helmond is een crowdfundingsactie begonnen via Kickstarter. Het museum wil uitbreiden met 600 vierkante meter en heeft een investeerder gevonden, die onder bepaalde voorwaarden de uitbreiding wil financieren. http://dlvr.it/TB5k0g

Zo, nu zit echt al het zware werk erop. Dit weekend hebben we in de loods weer open dagen. Je zou het kunnen combineren met de groenepanter en het homecomputermuseum dit weekend beide ook in Helmond. Ook daar staan meubels van ons en is er in sfeer behangen. Alledrie zijn we zaterdag en zondag open. Newest member in the collection. #olivetti LSX5010 which was the successor of the kegendary CP486. CP stands for Computing Platform. It is an EISA system with an #486 25mhz system. Back in 1989 one of the first 486 EISA system. The interesting part of this machine is the fact that it supported an intel 860 processor as secondary CPU. Together with the dedicated olivetti EVC1 graphics adapter the i860 could write directly into the graphics memory. It should boost graphics intense applications. But as i have no such an CPU i won’t be able to proof. Yet i need to check if the machine is functional. More pics to follow. Wow, was für ein Museum. Ein Paradies für alle, die mit Computern in den 80ern geworden sind. Letzten Sonntag besuchte ich das Homecomputermuseum in Helmond, NL. Ich habe viel Spaß gehabt und das perfekte Museum für mich gefunden.
