Steve’s Home Economics class is doing the flour baby assignment this week which secretly Steve was the most excited for. He ends up paired with Eddie Munson who turns out to be to be a fantastic partner. He’s patient, loving, protective and funny. He doesn’t make fun of Steve for how seriously he takes the assignment like his other friends would(*cough cough*Robin) In fact he seems just as into it as him! He even helped Steve come up with a name. The only downside is how accident prone Eddie is. They had to replace their baby twice before deciding that Eddie probably shouldn’t hold or be alone with them. He doesn’t know that it’s because Eddie is trying so hard to impress Steve. He wants to prove that he’s boyfriend material but ends up messing up. Steve is a good sport about it but Eddie can’t help but feel like he’s fucking up his chances. Meanwhile Steve has fallen head over heels for him and is fantasizing about what their lives would be like with a real baby.

Ponyboy taking home ec in highschool 🥺
He's literally the only boy in the class (it's the 60s but like hell is anyone gonna keep Darrel Curtis's baby brother out of a class he wants to take) and the teacher doesn't like him at first but will later fall under his spell because Ponyboy is a Delight™ to have in any class.
And it just made sense, ya know? He's got Soda and Steve if he wants to learn about Auto Mechanics (and he do) and Darry if he needs to learn Woodshop Related Things
What he Doesn't Have is his Mama to sew up his britches for him when he rips them hopping fences. Or to let down the hems on his and his brothers jeans while they're growing. There's no one at home who could teach him how to do the laundry properly or make a meal plan or anything like that and Home Ec is the Solution
also when they learn basic embroidery he uses it for Evil almost immediately putting little flowers n shit on his brothers' cuffs and hems whenever they Annoy Him. Steve leaves his jean jacket at the house Once and Pony gets his lil mits on it and it takes a week to for Steve to pick out the Dozens of lil lazy daisies

Since I still see people at my own age who don't know some/all of this, here are some BASIC TIPS FOR WASHING YOUR LAUNDRY IN MACHINES
ALWAYS CHECK THE LINT TRAP before you run the dryer and make sure it's as empty as possible.
UNBUTTON BUTTONS. Otherwise they tend to tug on and stretch the button holes.
ZIP UP ZIPPERS. The teeth can catch on delicate clothing.
TIE THE ENDS OF DRAWSTRINGS TOGETHER if they're not already looped. It'll keep them in place.
UNROLL SOCKS and other clothes. If your socks are balled up they won't wash or dry well.
When in doubt, use LESS SOAP. Trust me, slightly underwashed clothes are better than irritating soap reside, and easier to re-wash.
AVOID OVERSTUFFING washers and dryers. Clothes need room to move to get clean and dry.
ADVANCED TIPS
Big items like blankets are best washed separately even if they don't take up the whole machine.
Water resistant items should ALWAYS be washed separately and may need custom cycles.
T-shirt designs will last longer if you turn your t-shirts inside out before you wash them.
You don't need fabric softener. You also don't need dryer sheets but if you skip them use something to prevent static, it'll save you so much hassle.

found my old notebook and read all the weird logs I wrote in there in the vernacular. one of them was our Home Economics cooking class last year-
'M DYING, HERE'S SOME OF THEM AS ACE ATTORNEY CHARACTERS (NOT word for word as in the notebook bc i don't have it rn and also I'm translating):
Apollo: I DO NOT CARE, YOU DO NOT CUT THE CRUST, OFF THE BREAD!!!
----
Pearl: *makes mango juice with evaporated milk for the first time in my life*
Phoenix: does it taste good?
Pearl: I-I DON'T KNOW!
Maya: We need a taste-tester. *side-eyes Phoenix*
Phoenix: *sighs and drinks in the other room*
Phoenix: It's okay.
Phoenix: *gags it back out*
----
Phoenix: Does it taste good now? *drinks*
Phoenix: *gags again*
----
Trucy: *drinks mango milk juice* iT TASTES LIKE BREAST MILK.
Apollo: How do you remember what it tastes like?
everyone else: *slightly suspicious staring*
----
Edgeworth: LARRY PROTECT THESE SANDWICHES WITH YOUR LIFE *goes across room to cook more eggs*
Larry: *keeps face within 2 inches of sandwiches*
Phoenix: he said protect them with your life, not infect them with your germs.
----
Trucy: look at (classmate who complained about cutting the bread's crust off) being emo over there.
*cut to Apollo looking over the balcony outside broodingly*
----
Larry: WHY WON'T YOU GUYS SHARE YOUR MANGO JUICE?! THE OTHERS LET ME EAT THEIR SANDWICHES!
Phoenix: *pats his shoulder* They probably thought you were a homeless man.
Edgeworth: *pipes up from behind them* He's right, you know.
