What if abilities changed the appearance of a Pokemon?

Milotic is one of my favourite Pokémon designs - aspecially the shiny form! - so I wanted to give it a spin. Its abilities are really interesting and different from each other. Hoenn is a tropical region so I found a lot of inspiration from tropical fish.

Also, shoutout if you get the 436 water tiles reference. Players these days have it easy.

Leaf Week Day 2 - Ocean / City / Friends

When I saw the prompt for today, I was like. Hm. Where has Leaf gone where there is a lot of water?

Well, Ken Sugimori illustrated a place exactly like that in 2005. It's quite a sober image, but it's nice to see Leaf spending some time in the Hoenn region. I'm sure she found May during her travels there- powerful trainers always seem to wind up in the same places.

As she's in Hoenn, she needed an updated outfit. I wanted to give her something black, but the heat of Hoenn and a black outfit would be too much for the Kanto-raised her. I instead gave her green, suiting her name and giving a nod to Emerald.

Another fun fact: The landscape they're taking a photo of is Kyushu, an island in Japan that Hoenn is based off of. All games before generation 5 are based off of locations in Japan, so you can play all of them to get a small hint of Japanese geography!

And below is my version of the postcard with some scribbles on it :)

2024-01-08 - Flygon

Third and final entry for the Trading Card Illustration Contest: Flygon doing a Sippy at an Oasis

With this one, I wanted to try a new set of brushes that resemble color pencils.

Again, more than an attempt to qualify, Feraligatr, Absol and Flygon were more practice subjects than anything else.
