Alt. 4: Flushed Cheeks

Sickie: Hoseok | Caretaker: Yoongi

When Yoongi had entered the younger’s room that morning, he half-expected himself to be met with an armful of an excited Hoseok, but instead it was quiet, the only sound being the low hum of the ceiling fan.

“Seok-ah? Are you awake?” he softly called. 

The lump under the covers of the bed didn’t move, so Yoongi assumed that Hoseok was sleeping in. 

But still, it was already 11AM, and it was unlike Hoseok to ever sleep this long unless he had a late schedule the night before, which he hadn’t, as the dancer had returned around 4PM the previous day. 

“Seok,” he calls one last time. “It’s time to get up. Uhhhh something about the birds calling and shit?”

The only response he gets is a soft groan. 

He sighs and moves closer to the Hoseok-shaped lump still under the covers. “Sunshine, it’s like you and I switched personalities or something.”

Then he adds, “I don’t think the others will be able to deal, so lets not let them see, yeah?”

“Go ‘way …” is the reply he gets from the younger. “I’m sleeping …”

Yoongi snorts. “You’ve slept for fourteen hours. I don’t know how you’d still be tired. Even I’m not even tired after how long it’s been.”

No response.

The elder rapper sighs, frustrated at this point. It’s like Hoseok doesn’t even want to listen to him. Granted, he tunes out half of what Jin or the others say sometimes. 

Having had enough, Yoongi yanks the covers off of Hoseok. 

It’s then that he gets a good look at the younger. He’s all messy dark waves and adorably bleary-eyed. But then, Yoongi notices how flushed Hoseok’s cheeks are. He frowns, pressing the back of his hand to Hoseok’s cheek, then switching to the other side of the younger’s face.

“Hey,” Yoongi starts, treading the conversation carefully. He doesn’t want Hoseok to get defensive. “Are you feeling alright?”

“I’m fine …” Hoseok mumbles, wrapping himself in his covers once more. Yoongi notices the slight tremble to his form. 

“Seok-ah …” Yoongi warns.

Hoseok deflates. “No. I feel really sick …”

Yoongi leans forward and wraps Hoseok in his arms. “That’s all you had to say. Lay down with hyung, yeah?”

Thankfully, since the younger is so sick, he complies almost immediately, making Yoongi’s job a hell of a lot easier. 

He kisses Hoseok’s forehead and the tip of his nose and each of his flushed cheeks and by then, the younger has his eyes closed once more.

Sickie: Jimin (beginning), Hoseok

Caretaker: Jimin

“Hyung,” a pouty Jimin whined, swaddled in the softest blanket in the dorms. “I’m so cold.”

Hoseok frowned. Jimin had fallen sick with the flu a good five days ago and he should be on the mend by now. “Are you running a fever again?”

The younger shook his head. “No, I don’t think so. But I’m so cold!”

Really, the only repercussions to cuddling Jimin were getting sick himself, but he hadn’t been sick in so long and it had been five days since Jimin had fallen sick so really, would anything happen?

(Famous last words)

* I can’t breathe is the text Hoseok sends to the members’ group chat the following morning, his nose clogged and his throat sore and his head is killing him.

Stay back and feel better! are the texts he receives in return, the first being Jin and the second being Taehyung.

He coughs into his pillow weakly, wishing that maybe he listened to his head for once and didn’t cuddle Jimin.

At least the younger dancer was happy.

Speaking of whom, was lying next to Hoseok peacefully, finally able to breathe through his nose again.

How he felt envy.

Hoseok reaches for a tissue and blows, his nose making a sad little noise as the tissue does virtually nothing for his congestion. He tries again, but the result is the same.

Jimin chooses to open one eye at this moment. “Morning Hobi-huyng! I feel much better this morning!”

He can only glare in response, though he supposes he looks more pitiful than mean at this moment.

“Oh, I’m sorry, hyung!” Jimin exclaims, realizing now that Hoseok must have caught his flu, what with the red nose and flushed cheeks.

Hoseok only grunts in response, pulling the blanket tighter around himself. He wants a hug.

Thank god (Jimin, a true godsend) Jimin seems to read his mind and wraps his arms around Hoseok (not unlike a koala) and holds him close. The elder leans into his touch, savoring every moment.

“Are you up for some breakfast?” Jimin asks. When he receives a shake of the head, he hums and continues to hold Hoseok

Breakfast can wait anyways.

A little bit of me dies everytime I see y’all hc Hobie as this mean toxic punk rockstar boyfriend. Like tell me where in the fucking flim was he rude once. He literally helped Miles despite barely know him, he’s friends with Pavitr they even have a handshake, he let Gwen crash in his universe because she was homeless. Also to the people who say he is stinky and wouldn’t take care of his hair. Y’all are so fucking annoying and clearly don’t know how black hair works, especially wicks or any form of locs. Like hobie is the most kind and caring person around. He definitely wouldn’t abuse you, lay hands on you or cheat on you. Also his whole “I don’t believe in labels or I don’t believe in consistency” was a quip, a fucking joke all spider variants make stupid quip’s underneath the mask😭. You know what? Im breaking my silence. Im TIRED of people missing Jess’ character on purpose. Like, everyone can use context clues and fill in the blanks for every other character but somehow Jess is the only one taken at face value? Jess is being seen as a cold, detached, mean bitch by fans but I cannot determine whether we even watched the same movie.

Let’s address the elephant in the room, because she is a black woman who is NOT a mammy character, people criticize her harsher. Jess was MORE than Miguel’s “lackey”. She had her own thoughts and opinions. She definitely had her own personality and feelings about the entire situation. She lowkey stalled time to give Gwen chances to fix her mistakes.

If Jess was as cold as Miguel and such a “bitch”, she would’ve left Gwen the first time. Let’s not forget that Miguel was fully about to leave Gwen with her own father holding her at gunpoint, JESS vouched to bring Gwen under her name. Jess put her OWN position at risk to help Gwen and it required that she do her job accordingly. Jess made the boundary VERY clear, she is NOT Gwen’s mother. She is NOT her friend. I seen people argue that “Jess’ maternal instincts” should’ve kicked in to protect Gwen” but fully ignoring that Jess HAS A FAMILY! Jess is PREGNANT with her OWN child. Her instincts DID kick in and she chose her dimension with her family in it!

Jess was stuck in a rock and a hard place. She obviously wanted to help Gwen (considering she brought her in at the cost of her own position) but UNFORTUNATELY, GWEN messed up. Gwen saw Miles and that ultimately led to Spot escaping. You can love these characters and acknowledge that every character had their OWN thoughts and motivations that led to fuck ups. It’s not right to try to make Jess sound worse than the man who fuckin replaced his dead self out of grief, was about to leave a teen at gunpoint, and had an entire society of people chase a teenager who wanted to save his dad.

Don’t get me started on the “she’s fighting crime while pregnant argument” because we can accept superpowered people but NOT the possibility that their bodies are more resilient. NOT TO MENTION THAT PETER B HAS A WHOLE BABY ON MISSIONS???? Like, no one is calling him a bad father so what’s different with Jess? Miguel was mean as fuck to Miles upon meeting but Jess doing her JOB is considered being “mean”.

Then the “I didn’t see her enough to connect with her” is fair until everyone can somehow create entire {TERRIBLE} mischaracterizations of Hobie, Pav, and Peni who (arguably) had just about the same amount of screentime. She also shares traits with every other spider person with being snarky and quick-witted while being completely grounded. She’s literally one of the spider people that Miguel fully trusts but somehow the fandom erases her and goes “He loves Peter B and Lego Spidey🤪🤪”

Like, it’s crazy how people find it so easy to erase Jess and Margo (Spiderbyte) in fanworks for things they easily dismiss from other characters and it’s feelin like misogynoir. Like, Margo and Hobie served the same purpose with deciding to go against Miguel for Miles, yet only Hobie and Gwen gets that credit.

AND THEN THE MANY EXCUSES WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING! People keep hating on Jess/Miguel because she’s “obviously pregnant and married” but go right around and ship Miguel with Peter B. Same with Margo/Miles because it’s a bunch of “Miles and Gwen are obviously endgame” ANDDDD???? Since when did every ship HAVE TO be canon in order to be a ship? It’s especially crazy because I BARELY EVER see those comments on Miles/(Peni, Pav, or Hobie) or have no problem with having all the boys huddled around Gwen. The double standard is glaringly obvious.

In conclusion, some of you mfs dont deserve ATSV.

Yoongi is currently laying in bed with an armful of Hoseok.

The younger had returned home from work yesterday evening pale and running a high temperature and ever since then, Yoongi has been insisting that Hoseok rested and “left all the housework to hyung.”

He gently presses a hand to each of Hoseok’s flushed cheeks. “You’re still really warm. It might be time for another dose.

Hoseok nestles deeper into his side with a small whimper. It pains him to see the younger so ill. He’s so used to his bubbly, smiley Hobi, not this quiet, pained Hobi.

If only he could take his pain away.

”Let’s get some medicine in you, yeah?” He brushes the hair off of Hoseok’s sweaty forehead.

The younger is pliant. “Drug me, please.” he jokes, the exhaustion clear in his eyes.

Yoongi nods, sliding out from under Hoseok and heading towards the bathroom. He grabs what he needs out of the cabinets and heads back into the bedroom.

He’s never really felt the need to pray before, but now he finds himself praying that maybe the medicine will work on Hoseok and bring his awful fever down.

“Sit up for me, baby.” Yoongi whispers, in a soft tone that’s reserved for his Hoseok. “Just for a second so you can take your medicine.”

The younger is like putty in his arms, sweaty but pliant, and maybe that only proves how sick he is, but Yoongi can’t find it in him to care.

He hopes the medicine will work.

But Hobie is always a teenager, in other crossovers and his comics he is around 16, he has met miles before in canon the ships not new it was just small, I hate that every single fandom I try to enjoy now has this fucking problem It’s totally okay if you don’t like a ship but just say you don’t vibe with it and move on for the love of god

in every universe hobie brown is a guy who doesn't do commitment. he doesn't do titles, labels, rings, cuffing as a concept. he never has a family, so he never thought about having his own. plus, the dangers of the job, can't really tell when he'd get to be there for someone. the last thing he'd do is be deadbeat. so he says he doesn't believe in starting a family. but he knows you do and he knows you sacrifice that part of you to be with him.

from time to time he does see what you see. wedding bells, suits, champagne, guests, you in a white dress followed by the obvious pregnancy tests, happy tears, your body swollen up because of him and well... a child. he smiles at the thought occasionally but he knows better than to pursue it. until one day he gives it a serious thought.

he doesn't directly mention it, of course (it's hobie.) its always innocuous.

one day he's putting on his clothes. the usual spiky belts and bracelets.

" if 'e eve' have a kid am i gon' have to put a rubba guard on my belt?" he chuckles. you laugh with him but soon realize. waittttt he never does this... never brings up kids of his own. of your own. must be mayday's impact, you believe.

it escalates though, and you let him have his moment.

when he buys you things, he often asks "ya get a baby version o' dis?" or "bet this'd look so cute on a' lil' kid righ'?"

until it culminates in him admitting it to you after a long night together. your head is on his chest. you like it that way.
