Ended up with an extra copy of HOEB and I am currently annotating and tabbing the shit out of it and not caring. It’s been so freeing and so fun and it’s been a great reliever of stress for me.
normalize reading a book without caring if the spine breaks, folded cover, misspelled annotations and just ruining the book completely as a form of art

RANDOM WORLDBUILDING TIME GO
@ms-macintosh
AS YOU HAVE REQUESTED...
The Copper Coast is warm and temperate, a haven for those seeking their fortune. Hymon or Grend, Turungar or Hoeb, Yejae or Neth, all folk seem to have a place in the kingdoms of the Coast - though the positions of the countries there are always... volatile.
Consider Aaranan! A poor country. Goatherds and nomads, eternally struggling to work the mountainous terrain for enough to eat, their trade hampered by the fact that their only sea access is through TWO other nations. And yet, they have found rich deposits of tin in the mountains in the last decade, and now make their own fine bronze. Or Tomos! Eternally beset on all sides by those that would make their country part of another, the viziers of Tomos have had to be wily to pit their foes against each other while remaining nominally neutral. It is a dangerous game they play, and none know how long they can keep it up.
Rhoysh, of course, are rich as a neutral center-point of trade, the money-changers for all that pass through. It's said that any who live in that country speak a dozen tongues. It is only a slight exaggeration.
Obadat, of course, reaches down far, far to the south, the game-keepers more interested in their rich grasslands in the distance, but they keep a cool eye on their holdings on the coast - if only because they pass off some of their riches through petty warlords that have been given land that far north.
Tas Tamun once reached all the way to Rhoysh. The warlords of Obadat who were given the land on the coast took it from the grim ones. And the arrival of the Red Plague in their shores has done nothing to improve their lot.
By the same token, Gilop is a state in rebellion, with the Tamuni unable to fend it off; the slaves who have staged the revolt have set up their own kingdom, named for the one who incited it (may his spirit find godhood).
Garrumant, conversely, weathered their own uprising gracefully. The king was thrown down, the slaves freed and given land, the new high king denouncing the excesses of his uncle. To many, this is simply... talk. It is cheap. Time will tell if the high king speaks truth, or if he is buying time to save his skin before returning to what his dear, decapitated kin once did.
Ullar... mighty Ullar. The smallest of the countries (sans the slave kingdoms) and the most defiant. Swords of thunderbolt iron that can cleave bronze. Warriors mighty and skilled, who treat war as a craft, a science, instead of a passion or mere shows of politics. Do not tread on Ullar. And if a nation calls for Ullarite mercenaries, may the gods have mercy on your spirit.
And lastly, great Quirum. What needs to be said here? The city-builders. Vast and far-spread, the cities wealthy and educated, the provinces sparse and hardy and often cold-bit. An old, old, old country, and a place of relative stagnation on the coast of change. Perhaps over time even this will change, even as the granite that makes their walls will erode over time.

*potential spoilers for the SJM universe*
I’m currently rereading HoEB and there is a bit in the second chapter where Bryce is talking about the life span of the Shifters and the Fae.
The Fae can live up to 1000 years and the shifters 500.
Does that mean the ToG and ACOTAR characters have different lifespans or was that by the design of the Aesteri

Cold War in the Alps: White War Expansion on Isonzo
White War game expansion launches with a free weekend for Isonzo on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the creative minds behind developer BlackMill Games and M2H. The base game is available with a huge discount on Steam and Humble Store. Get ready for an epic adventure in the snowy mountains with the White War expansion in Isonzo. As revealed in the roadmap, this is not just any regular battle - it's a fight in the freezing peaks of the Dolomites. Where the Marmolada glacier stands tall. Step into a history book where you're part of the action on Linux. The White War expansion takes place in the middle of World War I, right on the border between Austria-Hungary and Italy. The Austro-Hungarians have built an entire city under the ice. So the Italian army is trying to take it over. Your mission? Dive into this icy world, explore tunnels, and conquer the highest peak of the Dolomites. The White War expansion is totally free on Steam. It brings a fresh map to explore - the first of its kind in this expansion. And it's not just about the location. You get new weapons for all the troops. There's even a Glacial Units Pack for $9.99 USD, which gives your characters outfits ready for the frigid heights. You can try out Isonzo for free on Steam until November 13th. Plus, the base version is available at a massive discount of 67% off until November 28th. So, it's the perfect time to jump in and experience this high-altitude battle!
Isonzo - Free White War Expansion - Out Now
youtube
The White War brings the Marmolada glacier, which is also unique. During World War I, soldiers from both sides had to battle not just each other but also the harsh Alpine weather. The Italians set up camps on the south side, while the Austro-Hungarians used the thick ice to protect themselves. Creating an entire "Ice City" under the glacier. Imagine fighting in such a place - it's intense and full of curiosity! The creative team behind the title, led by Jos Hoebe, wanted to capture the raw beauty and danger of these Alpine battles. They've crafted a world where you're not just fighting enemies but also battling the elements. The Marmolada map is their first step in bringing these historical battles to life. And since White War has you fighting in such extreme conditions, you need the right gear. The expansion introduces new weapons like the M14 Repetiergewehr, Vetterli mod. 1870, and the Gewehr 1871/84. The Glacial Units Pack adds even more, with uniforms and accessories to help you survive the cold. Last but not least, keep an eye out for a special event. If you've heard of Verdun's Christmas Truce or Tannenberg's Wolf Truce, you know these events offer a unique twist to your gaming experience. Can't wait to see what they've got planned! So, gear up, and let's dive into the White War expansion! It's a blend of history, strategy, and survival, all set in the stunning, snowy peaks of the Dolomites. The base game is available with a huge discount on Steam and Humble Store. Priced at $9.89 USD / £8.24 / 9,89€ with the 67% discount until November 28th. Along with support for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Plus it's also Steam Deck playable.

[ad_1] A 4-year-old Ohio girl who was allegedly given Mountain Dew in her baby bottles was so malnourished at the time of her death that she had no teeth left, according to the county prosecutor.Karmity Hoeb, 4, of Union Township, Ohio, died at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center on January 25, 2022, according to the Hamilton County Coroner's Office. The little girl's parents, who were charged in connection with her death last week, allegedly denied her the proper nutrition and medical care that she needed, Clermont County Prosecutor Mark J. Tekulve said in a July 28 news release sent to local media.Karmity's father, 52-year-old Christopher Hoeb, and her mother, 40-year-old Tamara Banks, were indicted on July 27 on charges of murder, involuntary manslaughter and endangering children, according to documents filed in Clermont County Common Pleas Court. Hoeb and Banks were booked into the Clermont County Jail on Friday and are being held without bond, online jail records show. The parents are scheduled to make their first court appearance on Monday. Police tape is seen on the ground at a crime scene in Monterey Park, California, on January 22, 2023. Two Ohio parents face murder charges in connection with their 4-year-old daughter's 2022 death, according to the county prosecutor's office, which alleges the girl's death was the result of diabetic ketoacidosis. Robyn BECK / AFP/Getty Newsweek reached out via email on Sunday to the Clermont County Prosecutor's Office and the Union Township Police Department for comment. It was unclear at the time of publication whether Hoeb and Banks had retained attorneys. The 4-year-old's cause of death, according to the prosecutor's office, was determined to be a result of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), which according to the Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC) is a serious and potentially fatal complication of diabetes most common among people with type 1.Tekulve said that the 4-year-old's parents neglected her so much, that they never learned about the disease. Her diabetes was left undiagnosed and untreated, according to local news outlet the Cincinnati Enquirer citing the prosecutor's office.Hoeb and Banks found Karmity unresponsive on January 21, 2022, and the pair called 911, according to the outlet. The little girl was taken to the hospital but was later determined to be brain dead. She was taken off life support on January 25.Karmity suffered neglect and abuse "for the majority of her life," prosecutors said, accusing her parents of denying the little girl proper nutrition and medical care, according to local outlet WKRC."My office is committed to fighting for justice for this child, who suffered and perished at the hands of those who should have ensured her health and happiness," Prosecutor Mark J. Tekulve said in the news release, WKRC reports. The prosecutor alleges that Karmity was "severely mistreated" and said that by the time she died, almost all of her teeth had rotted out due to poor diet, according to local reports. The little girl had been "mostly" fed Mountain Dew, instead of milk or formula, in her baby bottle, court documents show. The green soda has roughly 77 grams of sugar and 91 milligrams of caffeine per 20 ounce bottle, according to PepsiCo's website. Karmity, whose nickname was Boogie, according to her obituary, "loved to be silly." The little girl was described as "smart and vibrant" and was a fan of having her picture taken. She "loved smiling real big" and saying "cheese.""She also loved looking at herself in the mirror because she knew how beautiful and special she was," reads the girl's obituary, which appears to have been penned by her parents. In the 4-year-old's obituary, her parents referred to Karmity as their "guardian angel.""Each day she woke up full of joy and love. Every day she was playing with her Mickey buddies and racing her cars," the obituary states. "She touched everyone that ever laid eyes on her or spent any time with her. She will always be remembered as our daughter, our guardian angel now." [ad_2]

“There is no provision in the Constitution of Namibia that suggests that the president has got the powers to order the arrest of the inspector general simply because he appointed him,” [Christina //Hoebes said yesterday]. This comes amid claims that Shikongo is receiving preferential treatment because he has not been arrested. Shikongo is being investigated for alleged culpable homicide, reckless driving and negligent driving after he was involved in a head-on collision with a sedan in December last year at Iindangungu village at the Okaku constituency, Oshana.
