LAHORE, Nov. 18:
Founder of Pakistan Hindu Council Ramesh Kumar Vankwani MNA called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar to discuss matters pertaining to the welfare of minority communities.
The CM announced to fill vacant posts for minorities under 5 per cent quota for them. For this purpose, necessary data from provincial government departments have been collected and the human rights & minorities affairs department has been directed to take early action in this regard. He regretted that the minority communities were disheartened due to the non-implementation of this job quota in the past. However, the PTI-led government has ensured 100 per cent implementation on this facility; he stated and pointed out that minorities’ cells have been established in 40 departments along with the nomination of focal persons. Additionally, minorities’ cells have also been established and focal persons have been nominated in 9 divisions, 36 districts and 144 tehsils in the province to ensure timely solutions to minorities’ related issues. This has been helping in the prompt solution of minorities problems at the grassroots, the CM repeated and added that Rs.2.5 billion were being spent on minority communities' welfare in 2021-22.
While giving the details of the Punjab government's efforts for the religious minorities, the CM added that a two per cent quota for students of minority communities in higher education would open the doors of higher education to such students. Meanwhile, the Hindu temple in the Bhong area of Rahim Yar Khan has been refurbished along with the approval of establishing an SDPO office in the area which would be functionalized soon, he continued.
The strong role of minority communities in national development cannot be ignored; he noted and pointed out that the constitution fully protects the fundamental rights of minorities. The minority communities enjoy the same rights and solid measures have been taken to ensure equal opportunities for them; he emphasised and concluded that these steps have helped the minorities to take an active part in the national development.
Ramesh Kumar appreciated the practical steps taken by the Punjab government for the welfare of the minorities and added that CM Usman Buzdar deserves appreciation for restoring the Hindu temple in Bhong. The HR & Minorities Affairs Department has implemented minorities' job quota and its performance is better than other provinces as the provincial government has taken a lead in the welfare of the minorities, he added.

CM DEPLORES THE OPPOSITION'S REACTION IN JOINT SESSION
LAHORE, Nov. 18:
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has regretted that the opposition has blatantly violated the democratic norms in the joint session of the parliament.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the CM noted opposition's response was undemocratic, unethical and non-parliamentary as it ran away from the session after defeat. It had to eat a humble pie, he maintained. Meanwhile, several opposition members are fed up with their leadership; he said adding that the PTI has made historic legislation to grant the right of vote to the overseas Pakistanis. However, the opposition has proved its enmity with expatriates by opposing the bill, he regretted. In fact, the opposition does not want overseas Pakistanis to exercise their right to vote. No one would point a finger at the results with the use of EVM, he said. Resistance to this bill is opposition to transparent elections while the nation has recognised the dual faces of those opposing the transparent election process through EVMs as the opposition was playing the role of the pot calling the kettle black, concluded the CM.

CM CONDEMNS INDIAN OCCUPIED ARMY's BARBARITY
LAHORE, Nov. 18:
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has strongly condemned the brutality of the Indian occupied army in Occupied Kashmir and asked the U.N. to take immediate notice of it.
In a statement, he said occupied Indian armed forces have perpetrated an act of barbarism by martyring four Kashmiris including a trader. Humanity has hung its head in shame before the cruelty of the Indian occupied forces, he asserted. No one could even think of such cruelty and these sort of tragic incidents in Indian Occupied Kashmir are enough to open the eyes of the global community, he emphasised.
The CM appealed to the world to take notice of this barbarity as the unending killing spree has exposed the savagery of the Modi regime. India is involved in the spate of extrajudicial killings of Kashmiris for a long period and the U.N. should play its role to stop the growing Indian cruelties in IOK, he said. The Hindu supremacist Modi regime will have to be answerable for its cruelties meted out against innocent Kashmiris while there’s no justification for the silence of the global community over Indian barbarism, concluded the CM.

Source : Indian Express (Science & Technnology) Daily Current affairs and News Analysis The Union Cabinet in its meeting held on 3rd June, 2020 took several landmark decisions for helping India’s farmers while also transforming the agriculture sector
1) Cabinet approved historic amendment to the Essential Commodities Act With the amendment to Essential Commodities Act, commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potatoes will be removed from list of essential commodities. This will remove fears of private investors of excessive regulatory interference in their business operations. The freedom to produce, hold, move, distribute and supply will attract private sector/foreign direct investment into agriculture sector. But in situations such as war, famine, extraordinary price rise and natural calamity, such agricultural foodstuff can be regulated. However, the installed capacity of a value chain participant and the export demand of an exporter will remain exempted from such stock limit imposition so as to ensure that investments in agriculture are not discouraged. 2) Cabinet approved 'The Farming Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Ordinance, 2020'. Under it, farmers and traders will enjoy freedom of choice of sale and purchase of agri-produce. It will also promote barrier-free inter-state and intra-state trade and commerce outside the physical premises of markets notified under State Agricultural Produce Marketing legislations. The ordinance also proposes an electronic trading in transaction platform for ensuring a seamless trade electronically. The farmers will not be charged any cess or levy for sale of their produce under this Act. It will thus pave the way for creating One India, One Agriculture Market. 3) Cabinet approved ‘The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Ordinance, 2020’. It will empower farmers for directly engaging with processors, wholesalers, aggregators, wholesalers, large retailers, exporters etc., on a level playing field without any fear of exploitation. It was opened by Prime Minister Khan on November 9 in a historic people-to-people initiative between the two countries. The Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib is located across the Ravi river in Pakistan and is about four kilometres from the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. According to the agreement between Pakistan and India, 5,000 pilgrims from India can visit the shrine daily and the number can be increased in future. Read the full article
