10, GHC Heavyweight Championship - Kenoh (c) vs. Manabu Soya ****1/2
11, Naomichi Marufuji vs. Kota Ibushi *
This was my first full NOAH show I've watched in forever and it was a great watch. They pulled in a great crowd of over 5K, it had very good matches up and down the card, two fantastic bouts, but unfortunately it ended with one of the worst matches you're likely to see all year...
Things started hot with the Jr. Tag Title 3-Way. You know what to expect here; lots of crazy spots, not much in the way of traditional "psychology", and 100mph action. The crowd loved this and it was a great way to kick things off. There was confusion over the elimination nature of this one, and had it ended after after the first fall, I think I'd have liked it more, but it was a great little opener with the GLG duo of YO-HEY and Tadasuke eliminating both opponents at 8:48 and 12:24 respectively to win the straps. Things cooled down a tad with the next match, which was decent enough but just your standard 6-Man, which saw the GLG were victorious again.
The next match was something of a Dream Match for me, one that's been teased for a good couple of years now as Ishii and Kitomiya, two of my favourite guys from their respective companies, had an absolute war that is a strong MOTYC only two days in! You know what to expect here, it was tsandard Ishii big match fair, which is always tremendous. They pounded each other with chops, Lariats, headbutts, forearms punches and suplexes for 15:04, before Ishii got the win with the Vertical Drop Brainbuster. Amazing. The next match too was excellent as Go Shiozaki went over ageless veteran Satoshi Kojima, in a battle of the Go-wan Lariats! This was great, and kept relatively short at 13:56. Shiozaki won after an exchange of Lariats. Go formed a new faction called Team NOAH in the post-match.
Next up we got a couple of interesting debuts. "The Great Muta's daughter" Great Sakuya (Riko Kawahata) debuted in a doubles clash which ended in a DQ after she blew the dreaded Dokukiri in poor Umesaki's face. This was very silly, and the crowd were dead for it, but whilst it certainly wasn't great, it certainly wasn't bad either. The next match was better as former MMA fighter Ulka Sasaki battled NOAH legend Takashi Sugiura in a nice little exhibition. Sasaki looked good here, and it featured some good sequences, before Sugiura naturally won at the 11 minute mark with the Olympic Yossen Slam.
After intermission we got the ZSJ/Ogawa vs. Tana/HAYATA tag match. This was really good, as you'd expect, though at nearly 18 minutes it was a little long. They teased a lot of stuff with Zack and Tanahashi for their TV Title match at the Dome tomorrow. Sabre Jr. won for his team when he submitted HAYATA with a crazy leg stretch. The GHC Jr. Title bout was decent enough, as Daga retained over Eita in exactly 13 minutes. I expected a bit more here, and it ultimatly came off as a bit of a squash as Daga dominated the whole thing, despite the crowd really wanting Eita to win. The 6 on 6 Elimationation match was actually a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. Like everyone else, I'm at the end of my tether with this HoT stuff (and don't even get me started on Narita's inexplicably asinine inclusion in this nonsense), BUT, this match proves if done right, it can be pretty great. Obviously we got all the token House silliness like the never-ending stream of low blows, interference and incompetent refereeing, but it built really well as it boiled down to Kaito and EVIL, with Kiyomiya looking like a hero as he overcame the odds and sent EVIL to the floor with a Shining Wizard at the 26:14 mark to win for the babyfaces.
The first half of the Double Main Event; Kenoh's GHC Heavyweight Title defence against former tag partner Manabu Soya came next and it was another fantastic, hard-hitting war, and another early MOTYC. We all know Kenoh's great, and I've always been a fan of Soya since his All Japan days, but he's kind of lingered in the NOAH mid-card since arriving and gotten lost in the shuffle somewhat. Well this was a coming out party if ever there were one, both guys looked fantastic here, and I was worried someone was going to get legit KO'd at points, given how hard they were hitting each other. Kenoh missed a Moonsault knee drop by a considerable margin at the end there, but recovered well by devastating the big man with some headkicks and got the submission win at 28:36 with the Kenoh Special. Excellent, excellent match. Shiozaki came out in the post match and challenged Strong Fist to a title match, which will be happening on January 13th. Count me in as these two always have great matches together. And this is where I'd recommend everyone just turn this show off...
The Marufuji/Ibushi main event *sigh*... look I'm sure everyone already knows about this match, something that once upon a time was a dream match, but in the harsh realities of 2024, was an abject nightmare. This match was all kinds of bad, as Ibushi came into this thing banged up to oblivion and physically incapable of doing... anything, really. AND IT WENT 33:26!!! Which honestly felt like a good couple of hours watching live. Ibushi announced he was working through a broken hand and foot in the days prior, and when he made his entrance with tears streaming down his face, I feared the worst. The reality is this match shouldn't have happened, or if it did, have it go like 10 minutes maximum or something. And certainly don't have it be the main event! It was total insanity to book this to go north of 30 minutes. But even then, nobody made Ibushi try to do his signature spots in this thing. The guy couldn't even get himself up to go over the ropes on a backdrop, so what made him think attempting a Moonsault to the floor was a wise move? Well, he seemingly broke his ankle doing so, and the match only descended into more of a train wreck from there. The crowd were dead, almost like they were at a funeral, the "action" was a level lower than snail pace, and watching it was a profoundly sad experience. I never thought I'd see the day when the Keiji Muto of 2023 looked more mobile and having more business being in the ring than Kota Ibushi ever. Ibushi won with Kamigoye to put everyone out of their misery, none more so than the two guys in the match, then there was a totally bizarre post match where Kiyomiya and Jake Lee came out and seemingly banished Ibushi from NOAH. Ibushi could barely stand or walk on his way to the back, and this is a match I'll never watch again in my life. I had thought about giving this a DUD, but I couldn't be that harsh given the circumstances. Also, Marufuji did try his best out there, bless him. But the fact is Ibushi needs some time away from the ring to heal. I mean, this could be the end of his illustrious in-ring career, which is beyond heartbreaking, and he's looked a shadow of his former self since he returned to wrestling last Spring, but he wasn't even the same person out there on this show.
All in all, this was a great supershow from NOAH, marred slightly by a catastrophically bad main event, for obvious reasons. But I recommend everyone check it out up the fab Kenoh/Soya match, and just pretend the Ibushi/Maru match never happened.

Kaiju Week in Review (November 20-26, 2022)
Megumi Odaka, best known as psychic Miki Saegusa from the Heisei Godzilla series, retired from acting in 2000 due to health issues and disappeared from the public eye for a decade. The narration she contributed to Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex was her first role since then, and she's finally ready to go back in front of the camera. 3Y Film (The Great Buddha Arrival, Nezura 1964) has a new kaiju movie in the works, Hoshi 35, which Odaka is set to star in. Since it's a 3Y joint, and part of a celebration of the 35 years since her acting debut, expect it to get meta. As usual, Hiroko Yokokawa is directing; another key player is Daisuke Sato (Howl from Beyond the Fog), who will serve as director of special effects, cinematographer, and suitmaker (with Tomoya Ayaki).
3Y productions are known for bringing back veteran kaiju actors, and Hoshi 35 has already cast several besides Odaka, this time focusing on the Heisei era instead of the Showa era. Jun Hashizume played MOGUERA pilot Koji Shindo in Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla and Kojiro Inaba in Ultraman Z, Daijiro Harada was Mechagodzilla captain Takuya Sasaki in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, and Akira Ohashi stepped inside Gamera in Gamera 2, Iris in Gamera 3, and King Ghidorah in GMK. He'll be playing another monster in this one, Hoshikuzu. Hiroshi Miyasaka and Yumiko Tanaka will appear as well.
No plot details are currently known. The film is aiming for a October 2023 release date.
Gridman Universe, the crossover film for SSSS.GRIDMAN and SSSS.DYANZENON, has a new pair of posters and a teaser trailer. It'll hit theaters in Japan on March 24 (and hopefully arrive in the West before the year is out). Excessive fanservice aside, I really enjoyed GRIDMAN, but haven't gotten around to DYNAZENON yet... it aired in Spring 2021, which was a pretty chaotic time to be a Wikizilla editor, and I think I was under the impression it was all mecha, no kaiju. Guess I have to now!
Veteran Ultra Series director Takeshi Yagi debuted a proof-of-concept short at Tokyo Comic Con called AKARI, which you can also watch online. The story is simple—a giant heroine (Akari) battles a rampaging cyborg kaiju (Pythagodon) in a futuristic, neon city—but Yagi and company have far greater ambitions for it. They created it as part of a course on tokusatsu techniques, and hope to turn it into a feature or series with the funds from that course, as well as other crowdfunding efforts. The story they've drawn up is pretty intriguing: a 2076 Japan where corporations run amok, the AI uprising is at hand, and an alien race who survived their own rogue AI empowers a woman to save the Earth.
Matt Frank designed Akari. Akihiko Iguchi (Mechagodzilla, King Caesar, Titanosaurus) came up with Pythagodon, and boy, you can tell. I hope we haven't seen the last of them.
One more kaiju short for you to watch: Ivalla the Land Mine Monster: Case of Extra. This one is in more dire need of subtitles to get the full experience, but there's still a quality rampage to witness. From the other videos on the channel, Yuki Kurosu has been working on this for 8 years—props for persevering!
youtube
Godziban squeezed another episode out of Godzilla Festival 2022, this one focusing on the puppet displays and demonstrations at the event and the upcoming Blu-ray-only episodes which will see Bagan make his debut and many others battling it out.
youtube
Kadokawa released a fine video tribute to Gamera for his 57th birthday, which naturally ends by teasing the Netflix project. Interesting that they skipped over the 2015 short though.
Your reading assignment for the week is Patrick Galvan's excellent tribute to Kazuki Omori for Toho Kingdom, a well-researched overview of his career and analysis of the two Godzilla films he directed.

Hiyo there amazing blog, hope you're doing well 😌 this is an obey me request can I please get the side characters with an Hiroshi Inaba reader
Hiroshi Inaba is a private detective. He is a genetically altered being made from the spliced genes of human and wolf. His eyes are brown and he wears rectangle-shaped glasses. He wears a black animal collar, with silver buckle. Hiroshi wears a grey shirt with white, rolled up cuffs and a collar of the same color, that goes down in a buttoned V-neck. His pants are plain blue jeans and his shoes are dark brown.
Hiroshi has a youthful appearance. He has dark red, spiky hair. He has a large strand of hair in the middle, with two locks of hair falling at the sides of his head, framing his face. The rest of his hair is loose. Notable are his fluffy, medium-sized wolf ears on top of his head.[1]
While in his wolf from, his appearance is much more mature. He is taller and better build, with wider shoulders. His eyes turn red. His hair becomes much longer, until it reaches his hips/waist. His hair is much more wild-looking and has two large strands of hair draping over his shoulders. In addition, he grows a wolf tail, that protrudes from his pants. His clothes are not changed
Hiroshi is a frivolous person, very extravert in his emotions, which often leads to comical situations. He is however very hard to deal with, because it is difficult to negotiate and do business with him. The only person to remotely keep Hiroshi under control, is his former police partner, Ogino
Hiroshi appears for the first time when Ogino visits the Inaba Detective Agency to ask Hiroshi for help on a case. Hiroshi rudely refuses and throws rock salts at Ogino's face, yelling that he quit the police dogs and that he's on a case himself. Ogino does nothing about the incoming objects, but says that he's here as a client, but Hiroshi still refuses and says that his jobs always suck. He continues throwing rock salts and damns Ogino's pretty hair, that he is never allowed to touch. However, Kei guards Ogino and persuades Hiroshi to take the job. Hiroshi calms down and after Ogino drinks some tea, he says that he's glad Hiroshi hasn't lost his headstrong personality and Hiroshi replies that he's just in a good mood.
I don’t like to describe the reader's appearance since I try to keep it versatile, so I didn’t. I stuck to personality, and the fact that the reader is a werewolf who is a private detective. Targeted towards a male reader, but doesn’t use gender-specific pronouns.
Diavolo
He’s also very extroverted, so you both often build off of each other’s energy. Plus, you both enjoy a good laugh every now and again. You were officially hired as a royal detective to help with a case that had been causing quite the disturbance in the Devildom, and this caused a great friendship and even relationship.
This man is the type to totally want to scratch you behind your ear, but he would refrain from doing it if 1) you’re in public and 2) if you don’t like it. One way to get him a bit flustered is to go into your more mature form and start flirting with him. It doesn’t have too much of an affect on him, though.
As for your abilities with being able to eat a strand of hair and being able to gather evidence and powers from it is very interesting to him. He understood why your agency treasured your abilities, since they come in handy a lot of the time.
Barbatos
He has met a few people who are difficult to get along with, so you aren’t his first rodeo. No, you were actually the easiest he’s seen. Plus, your extrovertedness often leads to very comical situations, which he appreciates from time to time.
If you let him pet your ears, he will not disappoint. His hands move delicately through your hair, gently detangling some of the fur. Might even massage your ears as well, which is a huge plus. You have to keep yourself from falling asleep. He doesn’t get flustered by your mature form, but there’s no harm in trying.
Your abilities allow you to be great at the job that is unofficially assigned to you by Diavolo. Since you and Barbatos work together in the castle, you both can get closer and closer. If you need help with a case, he’s there. If he needs help with a chore, you’re there.
Solomon
You offer him a challenge, and he likes that. You both often work together to solve cases because potions can be used in forensic sciences. He has learned how to press each and every one of your buttons, but it’s all in good fun. It’s all for teasing purposes.
He is aware that you allowing him to pet your ears is a very special thing, and he doesn’t dismiss it as something insignificant. He will make sure to hit the spot. If you turn into your more mature form, he will be surprised but not flustered.
The ability that you have to both gather evidence from a strand of hair as well as gain power from that hair is fascinating to him. He wants to know if his hair would do something since he’s instilled with magic unlike the majority of people in your dimension.
Simeon
Like Solomon, he likes to tease you a lot. He knows where the line is drawn, so it won’t be too horrible. There were times where you didn’t exactly appreciate it, but you knew that it was out of love. What would be so fun about a relationship if there was no joking around?
He is very happy when you allow him to pet your ears, and he wonders if you will start kicking your foot like a dog when he reaches the good spot. He grows a bit of blush when you show him your more mature form, but like the others it doesn’t do much.
The angel finds your powers to be on the more odd side, but still very cool. You didn’t usually see any powers like this just anywhere, after all. He often asks you about life as a private detective so that he can get his books as accurate as possible. He gives you due credit, of course.

NJPW Match Card Set for June 17 + Match Predictions for NOAH's Green Journey in Nagoya 2023
Earlier today, NJPW announced match cards for their televised events in Chiba (for June 10th and 18th) and Hachioji (for June 17th). Down below is the official match card for their June 17th which is part of their "New Japan Road: Road to Strong" tour which starts in Chiba on June 10th. There will be a total of 8 matches on the card 4 of them are pictured down below:
Opening Match: Kosei Fujita vs. Master Wato
Match #2: Yuto Nakashima and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Boltin Oleg and Tomoaki Honma
Match #3: EVIL, SHO, Yujiro Takahashi, and Dick Togo vs. Hirooki Goto, Togi Makabe, Toru Yano, and Hiroyoshi Tenzan
Match #4: Dan Moloney, Clark Connors, and Gedo vs. Great O-Khan, TJP, and Francesco Akira
Match #5: Alex Coughlin and Gabriel Kidd vs. Oskar Leube and YOSHI-HASHI
Match #6: Shota Umino, Ren Narita, El Desperado, and Tiger Mask vs. Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomohiro Ishii, and YOH
Semi-main Event: Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi, and BUSHI vs. Taka Michinoku, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, and Taichi
Main Event: Yota Tsuji and Hiromu Takahashi vs. SANADA and DOUKI
"New Japan Road: Road to the Strong" in Hachioji airs on NJPW World at 6 PM Local Time/5 AM Eastern/4 AM Central/2 AM Pacific.
But before that, we will have Pro Wrestling NOAH's "Green Journey in Nagoya 2023" which will air on ABEMA and Wrestle Universe at 5 PM Local Time/4 AM Eastern/3 AM Central/1 AM Pacific on the same day as "New Japan Road" in Hachioji in which right now I will give you my full match predictions for the NOAH event as promised when the match card was officially announced last week.
Opening Match Prediction: I can understand that Hiroki wants to prove himself but by leaving Kongo, he has left a big hole. Already knowing he'll lose to Kenoh, losing to Hajime Ohara is not a option but...with the way he's been going, can't see him beating Ohara. Hajime Ohara will win the opening match.
Match #2 Prediction: This match is very intriguing but if I'm to pick a side then I'm going with the team of Mohammed Yone, Super Crazy, and Alejandro for the win.
Match #3 Prediction: Apparently Hideaki Suzuki is not happy about this match and based on how he is. I'm expecting this singles bout against Shuhei Taniguchi to be a brawl. Hideaki Suzuki will dominate and win in easy fashion.
Match #4 Prediction: When this match was originally announced, I thought that this would be used to determine Hijo del Dr. Wagner's next challenger for the GHC National Championship. But with Kaito Kiyomiya's participation in the G1 announced, this is his chance to show his 7 block opponents (which will be announced on June 10th) what he's made of. I still see Kiyomiya winning and at the same time make a statement as G1 Climax 33 looms for him.
Match #5 Prediction: This is no typo everyone, Naomichi Marufuji is actually teaming up with Eita against Daiki Inaba and Atsushi Kotoge in which I see the crumbling of Kotoge continue. Eita and Marufuji with the surprise victory.
Match #6 Prediction: Welcome back Jack Morris, we missed you. GLG vs. Stinger and Sean Legacy is sure going to be something. My prediction on this match will be very interesting for I have Stinger and Legacy continuing that momentum they've been having since May 4th in Ryogoku. Stinger and Sean Legacy with the win.
Match #7 Prediction: A rematch from May 14th and a preview match for June 22nd all in one match. AXIZ returned on May 14th in a losing effort as Go Shiozaki was pinned by Kenoh in the main event. Since that loss, AXIZ has won their next two matches and it is expected by the time they get to Nagoya they will be 4-1 since reuniting. My prediction is that AXIZ will get the win here but it will be interesting to see if this match will be for the AJPW World Tag Team Championship by then. Also, note...Go Shiozaki has never defeated Kenoh in singles competition. A win here in Nagoya could boost his confidence to get that first win over the Kongo leader in Korakuen Hall five days later.
Match #8 Prediction: Very hard match to predict here but one thing is clear, Dante Leon will do whatever it takes to win back the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship and though I can see him winning somehow I don't. HAYATA will retain but how though remains to be seen.
Semi-main Event Match Prediction: My expectation here is that whoever wins between Kongo and AXIZ two matches earlier will be the next challenger team for the GHC Tag Team Championships. This match is hard to predict because when you have Saxon Huxley in the ring, he's out of control. He's the true definition of being the savage David Finlay wants in his Bullet Club. Anyway, this match...I'm predicting as of right now new tag team champions with AXIZ coming out as the next challenger team. However, should the champion team retain, this could be the chance for Go to exact some revenge because it was Timothy Thatcher that put him on the shelf in Osaka back in September. Nonetheless...here I see new champions but always expect the unexpected when it comes to Saxon Huxley.
Main Event Prediction: There's a saying, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. My prediction here is a very intriguing one for I see Jake Lee retaining despite being dominated by the challenger Takashi Sugiura throughout most of the tour. Jake Lee's toughest challenge will result in his toughest victory and should he emerge victorious be interesting to see who' will be next.
So, those are my predictions for Pro Wrestling NOAH's "Green Journey in Nagoya 2023". Sorry but no predictions for "New Japan Road". The next NJPW event that I'll do predictions on will be their "Forbidden Door" event at the end of June and their two Independence Day Events during the 4th of July 2023.
"New Japan Road: Road to Strong" in Hachioji airs on NJPW World this Saturday at 5:00 AM Eastern while "Green Journey in Nagoya 2023" airs the same date at 4:00 AM Eastern on ABEMA for Japanese Commentary and Wrestle Universe for English commentary.
Go to timeanddate.com, type in the city you live in to find out the start time to these 2 events in your area.

MOBILE BIO
There was a sunshower on the day Akira was born. Ryoko had named her child after the bright morning light that filtered in through the hospital room windows. He began his life in a farmhouse on the outskirts of Inaba, where his family had a small fruit orchard. Hajime, a retired botanist, started the orchard to enjoy his gardening hobby while his son Hiroshi supported the family through his local family practice.
Outside of school Akira spent his early years helping his grandparents around the orchard, while Ryoko took their family’s goods to the markets in Inaba and Okina. Each year, the orchard would open to locals and tourists for seasonal fruit picking. It was a humble business, but fulfilling.
And it all changed during Akira’s 5th spring.
Ryoko and Hiroshi were traveling with Akira to Osaka for a weekend trip when the 9AM train derailed on its way through Amagasaki. The couple were counted among the dead, while Akira, shielded by his mother’s body, emerged from the wreckage with only minor physical injuries.
The loss of his parents blew a monumental hole through Akira’s young life. With Hajime and Natsuki too old to make daily trips to the markets, the Kurusu family were forced to close 90% of their business. Hajime found a job working at the local fishery just down the road, and Natsuki began to offer piano lessons out of their home. While looking after Akira, Natsuki continued to take patronage from locals who still wished to come and pick fruit from the peach and cherry trees during the warmer months.
For the rest of Akira’s adolescence, he spent most days focusing on school to keep himself occupied. Hajime, burdened and hardened by his mourning, became much more strict about ensuring Akira’s future, enrolling him in a cram school. Natsuki on the other hand, tried to encourage him to express himself creatively to help him through his grief by offering him weekly lessons.
The years passed like the pages of a book that no one would read. Akira worked hard to make his grandparents proud, despite the hardships. It wasn’t easy; the loss he carried in his heart was heavy and persistent, and Akira would often run himself in circles chasing his own success.
When doing well with his studies, the pressure became too great and the boy struggled through his early teen years with deep depressive episodes that would cause a lapse in his performance. In pursuing music, he would find himself climbing the same hills he did with his academics: the closer he got to the peaks, the harder it got to maintain his strength and momentum. Trying culture clubs like gardening and theater were briefly fulfilling, but in the end only added to his already overflowing time commitments. By the end of his first year, his grades had fallen to a C average, and his progress in his university cram school had dropped so steeply, he was forced to rescind his enrollment in place of supplementary education instead.
Getting arrested the summer before his second year was just the icing on the cake, really.
In a remarkable twist of fate, Akira was lifted out of one hell and placed into an entirely different one. Expulsion and exile from the house he grew up in, forced to start again in a stranger’s home in the capital city. A situation meant to be temporary, but Akira could feel in the way his grandparents refused to meet his eyes when he said goodbye to them that this rift would be permanent.
Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. A new place, a new life, a new persona to adopt. All he had to do was stay out of trouble for a whole year.
Easy, right ?
