I can’t shut up about the robot women in my head, so here we go again. Detective Sergeant Vadász, STAR-V22-13, is (supposed to be) an investigations officer attached to a Blockwart office in the Vinetan city of Éden. Unfortunately for the residents of the city, Vadász spends her off-the-clock hours committing the same crimes she’s supposed to be protecting the citizens under her watch from. Her speciality is breaking and entering. That office door you thought you locked? It might as well not even exist, because she’s in it reading your emails right now. Keep a close eye on your credit card if she ever comes around to you, because if you don’t watch out, it won’t be your credit card anymore!
Vadász’s Storch girlfriend and partner-in-crime is a local Protektor Controller, and together they run a multi-million-rationmark extortion ring. Both of them have been arrested multiple times for various crimes, including but not limited to tax fraud, tax evasion, bribery, extortion, blackmail, breaking and entering, trespassing, and grand theft auto. Each time they have been let off with a warning.

I’ve just seen the episode and honestly good thing about it was Watts and your meta. As always it’s very interesting.
But I’m super disappointed in how ironwood had been written. Like I can live with the dark sun ideology. To live someone has to die. Mors tua vita mea. And that’s who he’s supposed to be: the tin man have no heart after all. I’d aspect full logic from him. However... his actions are extremely illogical, as just run by fear. The reason the conflict between Ironwood and the team started is that he didn’t have much firepower and time to laugh amity because Salem was knocking at their door. While he was right , the previous criteria is time and possibility. He had no time for help, no time to call anyone , no time to evacuate everything , not time to lauch amity no nothing. Ironwood made a strategic and traige like decision which the team dislike.
But now ironwood has time. And possibility. He could evacuate mantle or at least evacuate the most of it. He can make a new plan to keep Salem at bay. He can even compromise : telling ruby “ok, my first decision was very logic , but because the situation changed and we have time , I propose to make another plan”. And this is not because James must be good. But because he’s the logic one. Changing the plan because conditions changed is the most logic thing to do. But nope. Ironwood want to commit a mass slaughter because of ... what exactly? Handing the staff to Salem ? Why then he doesn’t bargain? Salem is ALWAYS accepting those who stop opposing her.
Like daaaaman it makes me eat my liver out of frustration! Ironwood needed a Thanos situation. He thought the universe can go on with so many people so he wants to kill half of it. Point is that there’s no other way to reduce mass population. He tried wars, he tried slaughter planet by planet , he can even try to reach but the problem won’t be solved. This is what Ironowood needed. Not.... this. I prefer your vision more but there’s absolutely nothing that can sustain it: it’s not a triage, it’s not one live and one die. It’s “I’m dumb and the show need a villain so hippity hoppity Salem, now the villain status is my property”.
I mean... Thanos could have created infinite worlds instead of zapping half the world, but sure, logic.
Haha, you’re entitled to your opinion! (I also have spoken before that I don’t think Thanos was well written.) I just don’t agree personally. I actually think Ironwood is one of the most well-written characters, albeit he is a tragic character.
I think the point is precisely that Ironwood is acting illogically. I actually don’t think he’s very logical in general--he likes to presume he is, for sure, he doesn’t rely on surface-level emotions, but he’s actually constantly at war with himself and with those around him whether or not he’s in an actual war. He’s always methodically planning because he’s terrified, not because he’s accepting that things will go wrong.
Fear is his defining trait, not logic. This has been consistent from the start of his arc, from his introduction even. The moment he entered the show, “war” got brought up by name. He was always existing in a state of “what if” but the “If” was always “when.” Fear is what drives Ironwood to do the dark things he does. He wants control (hence, the chess motif in Atlas) not because he’s a power-hungry maniac, but because control is an illusion that belays fear--but it’s just that, an illusion. It is tragic. We see him panic when things do not go according to plan  and overreact (a trait the Ace-Ops also have) instead of trying to talk things out. Last time he bargained, a few things went wrong (all of which were fixable!) and he went nuclear, so it seems very in-character to me.
I was talking to @aspoonofsugar, who brought up that Ironwood is the opposite of Lionheart. They are both characters with fear at their core. Lionheart is the cowardly lion, who wants his courage back, while Ironwood is the tin man, who wants his brain. Both the Lion and the Tin Man in the original Wizard of Oz actually have these traits, they’re just not using them how they think they should be. The characters in RWBY have courage/a mind, but they’re choosing not to use them like at all because they’re bloody terrified. Fear brings the Grimm, after all.
I doubt Ironwood will end any differently than Lionheart, sadly. Ironwood is the antagonist of this volume, not Salem. He’s sympathetic and Salem is the overall villain of the story, but much like Cinder was the antagonist in the early volumes, Ironwood has stepped into the role of villain here. The end of this volume will likely be defeating him.
My post about the Dark Sun was not to indicate that Ironwood is knowingly plotting this out, but instead to illustrate where his arc is going. We’re in a Congelation/Sublimation stage of alchemy, which involves separating the weak from the strong, the parts that will coagulate into the stone from those that won’t.
I don’t have much hope for him.

You said that you could roast XY&Z for days in your last post. What about it didn't you like?
Keeping things short (...well, short for my standards anyway):
In terms of strictly just the anime, XY did a lot of things right and was a step-up compared to Black & White. It raised a lot of people’s hopes and seemed to be taking things more seriously in terms of plot, like how Ash’s team was actually getting fully evolved and such (some cases of which are admittedly ridiculous since the series is pretty short yet he has a Goodra and a Noivern, the latter of whom he raised from an egg), but ultimately, XY&Z just brings back all of the old formulas.
me when anything involving Zygarde happens: Wow, it would be great if any of this actually existed or happened within the games instead of just the show flexing like, “Hey, look at this cool thing you can’t personally experience!”
Serena losing her final contest performance. I know they’re actually showcases but it’s just Pokemon contests with a different coat of paint, let’s be honest. I was already sour about the fact that someone in the show, again, gets to experience something we can’t (Gen 5 had Pokemon Musicals and that was the closest thing we got to this, but that was in Gen 5, not 6), but the thing about Serena losing her final contest performance is that it’s irritating for a multitude of reasons, not just the fact that we can’t do showcases ourselves (to be clear, it’s not about how exciting/unexciting showcases would’ve been in-game; it’s that they had to make up showcases to give Serena something to do because XY was so light on content).
- First is that what we saw of Aria’s performance was really generic and unimpressive, but the second thing is big and just--I’m sorry, whichever writer decided that it was a smart idea to have the winner between Serena (a rando from Vaniville Town who’s only just making a name for herself) and Aria (essentially a celebrity who’s been around for a long time) be decided by the people in the audience needs to be fired. It makes sense when it’s a bunch of no-names all competing against each other, but when it’s a no-name versus a celebrity? For Arceus’ sake, the whole reason contests were originally decided by judges is because judges are (at least supposed to be) impartial. Did it suck when May and Dawn lost their Grand Festival? Yes, of course it did, but at least it didn’t feel so much like it was weighed against them.
- Like, imagine sitting and watching this episode and seeing the in-show audience decide who wins, most of whom probably have Aria merchandise like posters and figures and just, like--”Wow, gee, it really seemed like Serena could’ve had it! Wonder what tipped the scales for the audience!”
- To put this into perspective, imagine if the show decided that the viewers - the actual, real-life viewers - of the show got to decide who won the showcase. Even if some of them honestly thought that Serena deserved to win, you don’t think a majority were like, “Who cares about Aria? Serena’s our main girl and she’s gotta WIN!”?
Speaking of Serena--
- Serena at Ash before leaving to go to Hoenn: Hippity hoppity your lips are now my (implied) property.
Ash Greninja was a cool concept that amounted to nothing. The idea that Ash has this special link with one of his Pokemon (”Hey, look at this really cool thing that you can’t actually experience in-game!” until Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and it’s underwhelming at best) and can feel their pain, but the link can cause him to get carried away because now he’s really experiencing the adrenaline rush of battle... that’s incredible! That’s a really neat idea!
- But... ultimately, it’s giving preferential treatment to a starter... again. Gen 6 already threw Charizard an extra bone by giving him a second Mega (and even when they got rid of Megas in Gen 8, they were like “lol let’s give him a Gigantimax form in advance and give him to the champion”; by the way, no, I didn’t play Sword & Shield because I’m a Living Dexer so the lack of - you know - Pokemon was a deal-breaker) and now here they are again not treating the starter lines fairly (even in-game, we have Protean Greninja, so it’s a double hitter). I was open to the idea and was getting swept up in the excitement, but... what does it mean in the end? It doesn’t amount to anything; Greninja is still another Pokemon who gets released essentially.
- Why didn’t they just do something with Pikachu (Ash Hat Pikachu was eventually a thing after all), which is something they could’ve easily carried over to future seasons and continued expanding upon? I mean, Ash’s Pikachu is already special in its own right and this would be like giving it the evolution it’s never going to get. Heck, even just like... they could have it where it wasn’t even either Ash nor Pikachu being special, but they engaged in some sort of special bonding ritual at some special place (anyone remember Ashachu? That was a cool concept too and they wasted it; could’ve even been a reason for them to make this connection at that place because Ash had been a Pikachu once before).
Alain’s existence. Just--like, his entire existence, fanservice Charizard X and all.
- I want to make it clear for anyone who didn’t experience XY&Z (count your blessings) that, when the Mega Evolutions specials were coming out, we were given at least the impression that it wasn’t going to have anything to do with the series. Then things started happening and this is essentially how it went down.
- everyone, seeing that Alain is part of the main series now: oh no
- everyone, seeing Ash plant the seed in Alain’s head about entering the League: oh no
- everyone, seeing Alain having a near-loss against Ash (after having a couple wins before) before Ash blacks out, ending the battle abruptly and leaving the battle undecided, which is similar to what they pulled with Sawyer (having Sawyer win once against Ash before the League so it would still have suspense and wouldn’t just be Ash wrecking him again) except now it’s in the opposite direction: OH NO
- The League finale episode, in Japanese, was essentially called, “Kalos League Victory! Satoshi's Ultimate Match!!” and yeah, it was blatant clickbait.
- Ash!Greninja pulls off a Giant Mega Death Water Shuriken for the final exchange of blows in the match (Water Shuriken VS Charizard X’s Blast Burn) and it amounts to literally nothing because Greninja goes down anyway (to a Fire move of all things, which somehow feels even more offensive).
- They didn’t play Ash’s theme when said Water Shuriken happened so it was semi-obvious that he wasn’t going to win. Heck, his mom didn’t even show up to watch the match from what I remember.
- So yeah, Ash lost and--People. Were. Livid. The dislike bar on the Japanese trailer for the following episode was insane. I think what it ultimately amounted to was that people were so sick of the formula and XY seemed like such a step up from the last attempt and people really thought that the writers were finally learning their lesson. They really thought everything was going to turn around, and--yeah. It just ended up being more of the same except worse because they did everything to make it look like they cared.

Melanie has an incredible memory.
Give her numbers to memorize? She can recite it forwards, backwards and mixed. Hippity hoppity, your pin number is now her property (but not really).
Need her to summarize something? She’ll pull the most basic information that’s needed for a summary and add in tidbits of action if it has any to really make it work.
Life events? You bet. She remembers everything that has happened to her, though she doesn’t like the fact she does. At all.
Reading? She’ll skim a book and, when asked what it’s about, recite what it’s about and ask if there are any questions.
She can retain a ton of information, and her memory is extremely long for a human being. However, due to being bullied and shamed for it, Melanie downplays how much she can remember and pretends she forgot something when she didn’t.

So like—this is my child and I hope you like him
Meet Darklore aka Son of Unicron.
At birth Primus took him from Unicron since he thought “Hey you’d be a horrible father” while Unicron objects but in the end Primus won and raised Darklore as a knight (I have this headcanon that knights were forged to train/protect their selected prime’s) and since we don’t know everything about way back then I just thought I’d put my own lil twist on it. But if you don’t like that then you can think of him as a Prime really because either way everyone hated this poor mech except Megatronus Prime and my oc Zephyr (me realizing that almost everyone has an oc names Zephyr but oh well). Reasons why Darklore isn’t in the Iacon Database is because he’s the spawn of chaos itself and that doesn’t shine a good light on Primes so they yeeted his aft from history as a whole. Megatronus was bad enough for them but Unicron is just pure evil. Well anyways Darklore and Megatronus were basically friends and what not but after the fall Darklore went Boop and got stuck in a capsule. Due to the dark energon that fuels him he never died, he just stayed in a limbo stayed and vibes for eternity until my other oc Chippek discovers his frame on Cybertron (before the war). Owning her own ship has its perks until Lord Megatron says “Hippity Hoppity you’re now my property”. So now we’re going into my version where Megatron captures Chippek (whos a scienctist/historian) and Darklore. He needed Chippek to revive him because Shockwave wasn’t there to wake this ho and wanted Darklore because this ho is strong asf. But what they didn’t know is that they needed dark energon to fuel him but hey that gets figured out later— anywho thanks for reading my ted talk, very much appreciated. After this boi gets woke, Megatron and Chippek taught him and when they tried to brand him the heat of their lasers could barely Mark him. One thing led to another Chippek said “F CONS” and escaped with Darklore (they became close friends overtime). They escaped with the power of friendship and took their ship back then became rogues. Chippek found it difficult to hide the behemoth but hey, it works.
Also they DO NOT have a romantic relationship. Chippek and Darklore are just friends.
Also fun fact: Darklore wields a double bladed sword that merged into one! I’ll be sure to add it when I finish!!
Tumblr media
There is an alternate storyline I have but eh, I’ll go with this one for now. Also this piece is the flat colored version and I just realized I forgot to sign it FUCK but that’s okay because when it’s actually finished I will. PLEASE DONT COPY OR STEAL. I’m this took me three days :”) if you wanna draw him or draw him with your oc, it’s fine as long as you give me credit :| also he’s a mixture of MTMTE and TFP if you’re wondering. I will be drawing his faceplates (if I ever show them) in the MTMTE style because that’s the style he looks a lik better in but I’ll switch time from time.
