I love reading how upper class Brahmins adapted the culture of so called dalit communities during the middle ages. I love how they bramhinized the culture of the people whom they discarded from their society to save their religion during the Islamic Invasion. The lower class communities created their own gods to fulfill their needs as they were not allowed to worship the gods of the upper class. They created god like Manasa(the godess of snakes), Chandi(a localised version of Durga), Dharma ,Annoda or Annapurna. Even the Radha whom the desiblr adores and worships was primarily a local goddess a local myth, she was not a part of the veda purana tradition of upper class Hindus. The only reason they decided to adopt these local, small deities is because the bramhins felt threatened by the rise of Islam in India . Therefore they decided to include these gods in their upper class stories by creating new tales so they could appeal to the common mass.

So, idk how to say this but, I'm kinda new to this side of Tumblr. So I am Hindu, I'm not that religious as following the rituals and such but I wouldn't lie and say the concept of God doesn't give me peace. Stating my religion because in it, there is no one god (if you have a basic idea, I think you'll get what I'm saying) so there are forms of God that are feminine/female presenting or female who is considered the mother of the universe and all being. What I'm saying is in a country where you'll find men worshiping a godess at every corner and street those same men are vile to women in real life. From sa to domestic violence to eve teasing.
My friend who is studying veterinary medicine told me about this incident where a classmate of his was a devout worshipper of goddess, like he had a tattoo and stuff but was selling explicit pictures and videos of a junior female student (a 17 yo girl). Though the action was taken, but he wasn't sent to jail as they didn't involve police.
I'm sorry if it offends anyone. I just wanted to share it here, felt like a safe space.
No offense at all, thank you for sharing! ❤️
Yes this is something I noticed that religious men do. When you give feminist arguments that criticize the religion or culture, they’ll pull excuses like, “Well Mary is a respected figure!” For Christianity, or “Well Khadijah is a respected female figure!” For Islam…
But if there is no authority, then there is no respect. If her existence doesn’t offer any punishments to consequences, than she is not an active, real part of the religion. Religion is not an academic study, not something to read about… it’s a verb, it’s practiced.
If the practicioners of a religion are systemically engaging in hurting women, then this is what the religion and culture is promoting.

Yan!Rudra x reader
This baby is really possesive , he won't let you go unless you have a really good reason
He's the kind of yandere that would guilt trap you . His acting skills are certainly good enough to fake a scene
Crying ? Darling , you better tell him who make u cry , if you don't want to see your family and the whole Hindu Pantheon in a bloody sea
This baby loves cuddles , hugs him and he would definitively wrap his four arms around you! Sometimes Cuddles session can last hours!
Shiva is the only person who can see you . The Hindu Pantheon try to see you , they want a death wish . Baby Rudra doesn't want to show you off , he prefer to see you alone or with Shiva if he wants
During arguments , Rudra will try to not hurt you , but if you hit him accidentaly , he would give the silence treatement fr a couple of days ( i would say two weeks)
Sometimes he want you to bear his children so you will be chained to him forever and ever
He wont kidnap you , but he will try to win your heart like everyman will do
Jealousy , mmm yea? He get jealous easily when Yandere mod is activated .
He will k1ll the person infront of you
Shiva , Rudra vs The person or your neck full of hickeys
He's also the yandere that can sacrifice the world only for you
He will treat you good thought!
You asked something ? He'll get it!
You hate something ? He'll get rid of it!
You hate someone? Next target the person you hate!
You love something(a dress , jewelry) ? He"ll try to get it fr you
You love someone? No no no darling your heart be his and his heart is yours
You escape? Chained in a room without human contact fr a weeks or two (but when he isnt on the mood , it can go to three or four weeks)
When hes busy , his kisses are quick but when he isnt , his kisses can be very long , and you need to tap his shoulders , so he can let you breath
Aint no way , he would let u passed out on him
If ur a human , he would ascended you to be the God/Godess of (Element)
But his orangish eyes are always watching you
Unless , you want to end like the others , you are mine without hesitation

She is also associated with war, protection, chaos leading to creation, victory, freedom, magic and purification. Her roman equivalent is Venus.
• Durga. Hindu goddess who grants victory over enemies, in disputes and trials and soothes suffering. • Vishnu. Hindu god, preserver and guardian of men, he protects the order of things (dharma) and he appears on earth in various incarnations (avatars) to fiaht demons. Accordina to Hindu doctrine. Vishnu is a benevolent divinity who does not hesitate to grant his protection to anyone who asks him.
• Brahma. Hindu ordering god who transforms the inarticulate (anrita) into the articulate (rita) state. He is the Prajapati, or lord and father of all creatures, and first and foremost of the Rishis or Prajapatis. He is the father of Manu from whom all human beings are descended, which is why in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, he is often referred to as the ancestor of all human beings.

So I was rereading pjo (i needed the comfort read coz my boards, kinda like the SATs are going on😭) and I noticed that there are waaaayyy too many similarities between greek mythology and Hindu mythology. So I've decided to write about that instead of studying. Here it goes...
Zeus/Indra : ok they are literally the same deity. Both are the kings of gods, are gods of the sky, use a lightning bolt as a weapon and have giant egos which are set off by the tiniest of things.
Athena/Saraswati : Both are the godesses of wisdom and knowledge, but the more interesting thing is that both had very unusual births (Saraswati was born when Brahma split his body into two) and both were "birthed" by their fathers.
Hades/ Yamraj : Yamraj also coincides with Thanatos coz he's both the god of death and the king of the dead. Just like Hades, he's actually considered to be a really good god despite being associated with death.
Styx/Vaitarani : This river is said to separate the realm of the living from that of the dead. Here too, a fee is required to be given to the ferryman to cross the river.
Icarus/Sampati : now these two are very similar but also very different at the same time. Now the myth goes like this. Jatayu and Sampati are brothers (both are human-vulture hybrids) and were flying in the sky. But Jatayu became reckless and started flying too close to the Sun. Sampati tried to save him and in the process, his wings got burnt off and he fell to the ground. So Jatayu was flying too high like Icarus, but it's Sampati who actually pays the price for his little brother and falls. In a way, they both come together to make up Icarus. Also, Sampati doesn't die, although he's never able to fly again.
Hermes/Narada : Both are the messengers of the gods and are extremely cunning and are tricksters and love drama just a liiiiiittle too much.
Orpheus/Savitri : Both are people who's lovers died, both were unable to deal with this, both went to the underworld and pleaded with the god of dead to return their lovers. Only difference is that Savitri was actually successful in getting her husband back.
The trinity/ the trimurti : Both of these are the three "main" or most powerful of the gods. In Hinduism this concept goes even further by saying that the trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) are even above the gods.
There are also Hindu counterparts for literally every single Greek god and I can't list them all here. But I really love that in both these mythos, the gods are treated as very flawed and with very human qualities, rather than being absolutely perfect. This just really makes them very accessible according to me. All in all, maybe all polythestic religions just have the same gods in different guises, who knows🤷‍♀️
