I actually love the way Hikaru died. It wasn't because of anything he did in particular. He's just a child with a childish brain. It wasn't punishment for his family's deeds. It wasn't the plan of some ghost or entity trying to kill him. He slipped. And just like that, he's dead. One day he is making fun of his teacher, and the next he is gone forever. It's a reminder of just how fragile human life is, something that "HIkaru" can't comprehend. A total and complete freak accident. And they really do happen. They happen all the time. You know someone who died via freak accident, and if you don't, you will.
