[ad_1] IPL Trophy (Source: X) The 2025 IPL mega auction, set for November 24th and 25th in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, promises to be one of the largest in league history. A total of 1,574 cricketers—1,165 Indians and 409 from overseas—are up for grabs, including 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 from Associate Nations. With 46 players already retained by their respective franchises, teams are gearing up to enhance their squads with strategic picks that will give them an edge in the upcoming season. Attending my first live IPL auction has me thrilled. Watching team owners and strategists carefully construct their squads over those two important days will be fascinating. There’s so much to anticipate: which franchises will target which players, how many might try to rebuild a familiar core by buying back former players, and which teams will aim for a complete overhaul. The excitement around surprise picks, franchise strategies, and the competition for the biggest buy of the auction will make this an unforgettable experience. Some of the Indian players I’m most excited to watch in this mega auction are Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Arshdeep Singh—all game-changers who are likely to attract high bids. Delhi Capitals’ decision to release Pant was a shock, and he could potentially set a new IPL bid record, possibly surpassing 20 crores. Although Rahul has faced recent form challenges, franchises will still see value in his potential once he’s back in rhythm. As a former IPL-winning captain, Iyer is likely to be a prime target for teams seeking a leader, especially with his strong showing in the Ranji Trophy. Lastly, Arshdeep Singh, considered India’s second most reliable T20 bowler after Jasprit Bumrah, is expected to command significant interest following his T20 World Cup heroics. Some of the top international stars to watch in this mega auction include Jos Buttler, Rachin Ravindra, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and Mitchell Starc. Each is likely to attract hefty bids. Buttler, the backbone of Rajasthan Royals, has shown exceptional consistency at the top order, making him a big target. Rachin, a rising talent who understands Indian conditions well, impressed with a solid stint for CSK and is expected to draw significant interest. McGurk, another young powerhouse, left a mark with his explosive IPL debut for the Capitals, making him a strong contender in a bidding war. Lastly, veteran Starc, who commanded the highest bid in tournament history last year, is expected to secure another major contract this season. Also read: Sanjay Manjrekar did not need to bait coach Gautam Gambhir on social media.#GautamGambhir @BoriaMajumdar https://t.co/F3o9NsmBXj — RevSportz Global (@RevSportzGlobal) November 12, 2024 For more sports content follow: RevSportz The post Countdown to Jeddah: Franchises Eye Top Stars at 2025 IPL Auction appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports. New Zealand beat Pakistan by six wickets
Mark Chapman went out and did what he had been threatening all series when the stakes were at their highest. The 28-year-old scored an unbeaten 104 off 57 balls, chasing down 194, in a breathtaking display of magnificently clean hitting against some of the best T20 cricket bowlers to stun Pakistan. Even though New Zealand led Pakistan by 2-0 after two games, it was the second-highest total ever scored against Pakistan in T20 matches. It also means that the series ended in a tie. It is additionally New Zealand's 100th T20I win, one that will invest wholeheartedly in a spot in New Zealand T20 fables. When they arrived in Pakistan from halfway around the world and only had one practice session under their belt when the series began, few would have given them hope that they could accomplish this. The fact that their team was depleted, with eight first-team players absent due to IPL duty, made the task even more difficult. Even on the day, it appeared especially unlikely that New Zealand would win when Imad Wasim struck to remove Daryl Mitchell, leaving them at 73 for 4 at the halfway point.
The tables are turned by Chapman and Neesham.
Chapman finished with 290 runs in a series despite only being dismissed once because Pakistan hadn't yet taken him into account. He hit Faheem Ashraf for 14 in the 11th over to put Pakistan on notice that the game and the series were not over yet. They should have heeded the warning, but they were powerless against Chapman's assault. Chapman destroyed every Pakistan bowler, right-arm and left-arm, as James Neesham's unbeaten 45 off 25 was a more than adequate supporting act. 71 runs were scored in the subsequent five overs, and New Zealand won the match. Chapman kept attacking even though he was getting close to a hundred now. Shaheen Shah Afridi had some luck against him; Before Afridi dropped him off his bowling on 98, Shadab Khan dropped a straightforward catch. He was able to complete the 100 he so richly deserved by sprinting back for two. At this point, it was a run-a-ball condition for the last two overs, and for Chapman here, it was a cakewalk. With four balls remaining, a small push into the on side sealed the deal, giving Pakistan a reality check and a bloody nose before the five-match ODI series starts later this week.
The trio of strikes
Pakistan may have started well with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, but the bowlers, much like New Zealand has done in almost every match this series, came back strong. In the final powerplay over, Babar was the first to fall when he misjudged an on-side slog. Mohammad Haris was eager to make up for a while when he came in with two balls left on the powerplay. However, he misread Blair Tickner's off-cutter and attempted to lap over a short fine leg from his first delivery. Before coming on, Ish Sodhi dispatched Saim Ayub with a wrong'un for another duck after taking a straightforward catch. A promising Pakistani start was ruined after the sudden loss of three wickets for one run in five balls.
Pakistan's strange slowness and Rizwan's score of 98
It's maybe boorish to criticize a T20 hundred, yet it's impossible to stay away from it. Since 2021, Rizwan has been one of Pakistan's most potent matchwinners and a run machine in Twenty20 Internationals. He started with the format-appropriate truculence, hurtling along even as Babar struggled and wickets fell at the other end, despite a relatively lean run by his standards. He started, batted through the middle of the innings, and probably should have scored a century. T20 centurions, on the other hand, are like presidents in that you probably don't deserve to be one. Rizwan's century might have come naturally if Pakistan had continued to attack the death overs in the same manner as any team that maximizes its run-scoring potential. All things considered, he picked relative wariness, and the last couple of balls were completely equipped towards getting Rizwan those last couple of runs instead of giving Pakistan each additional run they could scratch. Faheem Ashraf took just the single pitch rather than the two that were on or off the penultimate ball because Imad was run out trying to scrape a bye despite being the batter in better hitting form. Rizwan didn't even make it to three figures, but more so because he only scored one boundary out of his last 13 balls. Chapman, on the other hand, barely seemed to notice his score when batting on 98. Afridi had only one ball left and might have been drained for a solitary or seen off. The batter, on the other hand, attempted a high-risk jab to the on side, but the ball flew straight up. Even though Chapman scored the century and his team won, the score didn't matter.
Shaheen Afridi's opening score
Oh, how we've been missing out. Afridi went the whole series without recording a first-over wicket, but on Monday in Rawalpindi, it seemed as though his most alluring talent had never been absent. The match started with a first-ball wicket, albeit it wasn't exactly the inswinger that ripped through a right-handed batsman's defense. Instead, it drifted away from left-handed batter Tom Latham, who sliced it politely to Shadab at the point. He was prepared for the one that angled away, kissed the outside edge, and carried through to Rizwan after a couple of proving inswinging deliveries to Will Young. Afridi returned after New Zealand fell behind by two runs in an over, but only to witness the Nos. 5 and 6 of New Zealand make an incredible comeback.
Conclusion
New Zealand won against Pakistan in a T20 match by six wickets, with Mark Chapman leading the way with an unbeaten 104 off 57 balls. This was despite the odds being against them, with their team being depleted and having only had one practice session before the series began. Although Pakistan started well with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, the bowlers came back strong and limited their scoring. Rizwan scored 98 but picked relative wariness, and the last couple of balls were completely geared towards getting him the last couple of runs instead of giving Pakistan each additional run they could scratch. Chapman kept attacking even when he was close to a hundred and destroyed every Pakistan bowler. It is also worth noting that this win is New Zealand's 100th T20I win, which is a significant milestone. Read the full article

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Dates and Venue Announced by BCCI
IPL 2025 Auction Likely to be Held in Riyadh on November 24-25: The Indian Premier League (IPL) auction has always been a much-anticipated event, drawing global attention as teams battle to build the best squads. For the 2025 season, the excitement has reached new heights, with reports suggesting that the mega auction will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to officially confirm the location, sources close to the matter indicate that Riyadh is the likely host city.
Franchise Retention Strategies and Key Highlights
All ten IPL franchises have submitted their retention lists, offering glimpses into their team-building approaches for the 2025 season. As teams retained their core players while releasing others, several prominent names have been added to the auction pool, increasing the competition and adding excitement for fans.
Retention Highlights Across Franchises
The franchises have retained 46 players, with a total investment of ₹558.5 crore. Notably, 36 of these players are Indian, including 10 uncapped Indian stars. Here’s a breakdown of major retention decisions:
Mumbai Indians – With five IPL titles, Mumbai Indians have built a strong Indian core by retaining key players like Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav. Tilak Varma, a promising young left-hander, also retained his place. Notably, Ishan Kishan, a talented youngster, was released, leaving MI with a ₹45 crore budget for the auction.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru – RCB has opted for a selective approach, retaining only three players: Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal. Kohli commands the highest retention fee at ₹21 crore, giving RCB the second-largest auction purse of ₹83 crore.
Punjab Kings – Surprising many, Punjab Kings chose not to retain any capped players, focusing instead on young talent. They retained only two players, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, and hold the largest auction budget at ₹110.5 crore.
Rajasthan Royals – Rajasthan Royals solidified their batting lineup with strategic retentions, although they still seek an additional opener. With the smallest purse of ₹41 crore, RR enters the auction with a precise plan to strengthen its roster.
Chennai Super Kings – MS Dhoni will once again grace the IPL, retained by CSK as an uncapped player. CSK’s strategy combines experience with fresh talent, retaining Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, and Matheesha Pathirana.

Top Players Entering the Auction Pool
With several renowned players left out of the retention lists, the 2025 auction pool includes high-caliber talent. Here’s a look at some of the notable players available for auction:
Released Indian Captains
The release of Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant has left three experienced Indian captains in the auction pool. Franchises seeking strong leadership may vie for these players, adding an extra layer of excitement to the auction.
England Players in the Auction
Interestingly, no England players were retained by any franchise this season. Major players like Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Harry Brook, Phil Salt, and Will Jacks will be up for grabs. Their release reflects teams’ concerns about availability, as these players missed parts of the season due to international commitments.
Young and Uncapped Talents
This year’s auction also features a number of unproven Indian talents, with ten uncapped players retained by various teams. These young players offer affordable options and the potential to evolve into match-winners, making them valuable assets in the auction.

IPL 2024: SRH, RR Face-Off To Seal Final Date Against Kolkata Knight Riders
Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will lock horns against Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Qualifier 2 match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have already reached the final of the 17th season of the IPL, and whichever franchise wins today's match will lock horns against the Kolkata-based franchise at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
The Hyderabad-based franchise is in their top form in the IPL 2024 and etched their name on the record book by breaching the highest team total in the IPL three times this season. Earlier, it was Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) 263/5 in the 2013 season which held the landmark of the highest team total in the history of the IPL.
With the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi in the top batting order, SRH have successfully entered the T20 tournament with an aggressive approach. They are the only side to score 100 or more runs in the powerplay this season.
The Rajasthan-based franchise started the season on a good note and kept a four-match winning streak two times in the tournament. However, as time passed and we came into the second half of the IPL 2024, the Royals started to maintain their consistency. In May, RR's first win came in the Eliminator round when they beat RCB to book their place in the Qualifier 2 match.
The Royals don't have a destructive batting lineup as compared to the Sunrisers but they have a fiery bowling attack with the likes of Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, Nandre Burger, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
The Qualifier 2 match will be an interesting clash as the best bowling attack will take on a destructive batting lineup to book their place in the final match of the IPL 2024.
Hyderabad finished the league stage of the T20 tournament in second place with 17 points and a net run rate of +0.414 after winning 8 of 14 matches. While the Rajasthan concluded their league matches in third place with 17 points and a net run rate of +0.273 after winning 8 of 14 matches.
The Royals are coming into today's match after beating RCB by four wickets in the Eliminator round of the IPL
2024. On the other hand, SRH conceded an 8-wicket loss against KKR in the Qualifier 1 match of the tournament.
Rajasthan Royals Squad: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Sanju Samson (Wk/C), Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Rovman Powell, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shimron Hetmyer, Nandre Burger, Shubham Dubey, Tanush Kotian, Donovan Ferreira, Navdeep Saini, Keshav Maharaj, Kuldeep Sen, Abid Mushtaq, Kunal Singh Rathore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen (Wk), Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (C), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, T Natarajan, Sanvir Singh, Umran Malik, Glenn Phillips, Washington Sundar, Jaydev Unadkat, Mayank Agarwal, Aiden Markram, Anmolpreet Singh, Upendra Yadav, Mayank Markande, Jhatavedh Subramanyan, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Marco Jansen, Akash Maharaj Singh.

RR vs KKR: IPL 2024 Expected Lineup, Live Toss, 100% Prediction & Which Team Will Win?
Match Preview
This coming Sunday, match number 70 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The event will feature the Rajasthan Royals (RR) competing against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
After securing a spot in the playoffs with 16 points, the Royals have begun to struggle at the business end of the campaign, as they have lost four matches in a row. On the other side, KKR (19 points) have already secured a top spot in the standings after a washout against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad in the previous round earned them one point. This has allowed them to secure their position as the top team on the table.
Â
RR vs KKR: Pitch Report
Barsapara Cricket Stadium
This is the thirteenth venue of the season, marking the highest number in an Indian Premier League season. With side limits of 63 metres and 60 metres and a straight boundary measuring 73 metres, this location has historically been a relatively high-scoring event. The pitch that we are playing on is made of black earth, and it is hard and rolls really well. "Certainly a surface on which a great number of runs can be scored," Deep Dasgupta and WV Raman remarked before the match between RR and PBKS, which was the last match ever played at the stadium and also the first match ever played there.
In spite of the fact that the pitch has a few fractures, it normally plays far better than it seems to. In the previous year, the team that batted first won both of these games. However, in a match between India and Australia that took place at this venue, Australia chased a massive score of 222 in the last over. This is something that teams want to accomplish because, while they are pursuing it, they are under pressure. They continued by saying, "There are a lot of runs to be had here, regardless of when you bat on the pitch."
RR chose to bat first in the match, and they ended up scoring 144/9 in 20 overs (overs). It was the pacers of PBKS who took six wickets, while the pacers themselves took two wickets. In response, Punjab was able to knock down the goal in 18.5 overs, losing five wickets in the process. There were three wickets taken by RR pacers. During the last five Twenty20 matches, the average total score has been 182 runs. Over the last five years, teams that won the toss have chosen to bowl first 61 percent of the time.

Most Wickets In IPL History - OneTurf News
The Indian Premier League 2024 season has reached the business end, and the biggest talking point this year has been the dominance of the bat over the ball, with batting-friendly pitches, record-breaking totals, shocking strike rates, and sixes galore being the norm of the season. While Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders have taken the cricketing world by storm, others like the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been poor with the ball and are languishing at the bottom of the table. There is a saying that batters win you matches, but it is the bowlers who win you tournaments. There’s constant pressure on bowlers to give their best, as even a tiny mistake can end the team’s campaign. Having said that, world-class bowlers have performed well, showcasing their experience and taking wickets at crucial junctures. While some of the experienced bowlers have gone for runs in the IPL 2024 season so far, let’s take a look at the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets in IPL history to date.
Top 3 bowlers with the most wickets in IPL history
Yuzvendra Chahal — 200 Wickets Breaching new milestones in his entertaining T20 career, Indian wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal entered his name into the history books by taking his 200th IPL wicket in match 38 of the IPL 2024 season between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians on Monday. The spin wizard dismissed MI’s Mohammad Nabi to become the first player in the history of IPL to take 200 wickets. The wily wrist spinner has been part of three teams IPL sides, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals. However, Chahal came into the limelight when he consistently took wickets for RCB, especially at their batting-friendly home ground, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Despite his record performance, RCB did not retain Chahal. The 33-year-old leg spinner ended up winning the Purple Cap playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022 season, taking 27 wickets. He is currently in the sixth position for most wickets in IPL 2024. While talking about Chahal’s overall IPL stats, he has an impressive economy of 7.8 and a bowling average of 22.12.
Dwayne Bravo — 183 Wickets Former Chennai Super Kings’ pace bowling all-rounder Dwayne Bravo is right at the top in the 2nd spot when it comes to the bowlers with the most wickets in IPL history, having taken as many as 183 wickets from 161 games at an economy of 8.39. The West Indies superstar holds the joint first position on the list of highest wicket-takers in IPL in a single season alongside Harshal Patel. The star all-rounder took 32 wickets in 18 games during the IPL 2013 season. His impressive bowling performance helped the Chennai Super Kings qualify for the finals. While talking about his entire IPL playoffs career, Bravo has taken 28 wickets, with a strike rate of 13.8 and an economy rate of 8.21 in 19 matches.
Piyush Chawla — 183 Wickets Former India leg-spinner Piyush Chawla is the third-highest wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League history. Talking about his overall IPL stats, Chawla has taken 183 wickets from 188 games at a fantastic economy rate of 7.97. In the IPL 2023 season, the 34-year-old wrist-spinner picked 22 wickets from 16 matches at an economy of 8.11 for the Mumbai Indians. Chawla has played for the Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in his IPL career so far.

Glenn Maxwell's Candid Admission: Why He Benched Himself from RCB vs SRH Clash
In a surprising turn of events during Monday's match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) opted to leave Glenn Maxwell out of the lineup. While this decision raised eyebrows among fans, Maxwell himself revealed the reasoning behind his exclusion from the side.
Speaking to reporters, the Australian all-rounder disclosed that he approached the RCB leadership group, including captain Faf du Plessis, and suggested it was time to give someone else a chance. Maxwell admitted that his form had been below par this season, and he felt it was best to take a mental and physical break from the game.
Acknowledging his lack of positive contribution, Maxwell shared his disappointment with his performance so far in the IPL 2024 season. With just 32 runs to his name from six games at an average of 5.33, Maxwell recognized the need for a change in strategy.
RCB's struggles this season, marked by inconsistent batting performances and indifferent bowling displays, have mirrored Maxwell's individual form. With only one win from six games, the team finds itself at the bottom of the table, facing challenges in both batting and bowling departments.
Maxwell's absence in the clash against SRH, which resulted in a 25-run loss for RCB, highlighted the team's bowling vulnerabilities as they conceded the highest total in IPL history. Despite a valiant effort from Dinesh Karthik, the team's net run rate took a hit, underscoring the urgent need for improvement in all areas of their game.
As RCB navigates through a challenging IPL season, Maxwell's decision to bench himself reflects a proactive approach to address performance issues and seek solutions for the team's overall improvement. With a renewed focus and determination, RCB aims to bounce back stronger in the remainder of the tournament.
