Japan’s Tohoku Shinkansen passing at close to 300km/h. 🚝
The Tōhoku Shinkansen is a Japanese high-speed Shinkansen rail line, connecting Tokyo with Aomori in Aomori Prefecture in a route length of 674.9 km (419.4 mi), making it Japan's longest Shinkansen line.
It runs through the more sparsely populated Tōhoku region of Japan's main island, Honshu.
It was extended as the Hokkaido Shinkansen through the Seikan Tunnel to Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto (this section opened in March 2016) and is expected to be extended to Sapporo by 2030.
It has two Mini-shinkansen branch lines, the Yamagata Shinkansen and Akita Shinkansen.
The line is operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East).

We should build the one-hour train connections from Helsinki to Turku and Tampere to make it easier for horny people to get quick fuck.
Later on these should be expanded to other cities with hot people living in them.
i think more people would be getting laid if it wasn't a logistical nightmare

The Acela is showing its age, and seeing its replacement parked in a rail yard doesn't help
Seeing Amtrak's next-generation Acela trains parked in a yard in Philadelphia has become of my least-favorite parts of the Northeast Corridor experience.
PHILADELPHIA The train that I boarded in Boston Wednesday afternoon looked more than a little scruffy on the outside. The black seals around its windows had faded in parts to white, the windows themselves showed streaks of dirt, and the paint looked chipped and peeling in places–maybe not a surprise after almost 23 years of hard service on the Northeast Corridor, but still sad compared to what…

I have decided to become a walkablity extremist.
Cars should not be allowed in towns and cities at all. The only places where they should be at all present is in rural areas where any other means of transportation should be impossible.
High speed rail networks should allow for a trip from Mexico city to Montreal in under 24 hours.
All public transportation should be 100% free.
Lawns should not exist.
It doesn't make sense for single family homes to be built in most American cities.
Architecture must be beautiful again.
Every commercial street should have at least one bench.
Public restrooms must be free, common and accessible.
The pigeons are not enemies. The pigeons are freinds.
