Imagine if I wrote all the AUs that I have in my head for my stories. Imagine how powerful I would be.
Gothic Horror ALiCE with Christopher investigating a haunted orphanage that was left to him by a mysterious benefactor. Very del Toro.
High Fantasy Like Falling Stars. High Fantasy School Like Falling Stars. High Fantasy Ballet School Like Falling Stars a la Princess Tutu.
Stellar Eclipse but ONLY the cute slice-of-life family moments.
What AUs would you make out of your works? They can be as similar or as different as you like, anything that interests you! Tagging @theboarsbride @pheita and @writing-with-melon to get this party started!

For the fanfic game: B, F, and R!
Original ask meme here, feel free to send me a letter!
B: Any of your stories inspired by  personal experience?
One of my old RWBY fics is me angsting about my neurodivergency via the lens of Professor Ozpin. NGL, I'm considering deleting it, it's... embarassing, and not my best work.
On top of that, the backstory for one of my WoW OCs was based on, for lack of a better term, my daddy issues. It's a fucking cringe backstory and it just turned melodramatic and I'm so glad I reworked it.
But for a more light-hearted response, it's a fic I'd like to write. When I was young, one of my teeth was loose. I complained about it to my older brothers, and one of them responded with: "Oh, your new tooth is going to grow into a vampire tooth" ...or something along those lines. Knowing my younger self, she was terrified and probably cried.
I think it's a perfect concept for Klint and Barok van Zieks!
F: Share a snippet from one of  your favorite dialogue scenes  you've written and explain why  you're proud of it.
As much as I want to post a snippet from my roleplaying on WoW, I won't, because it will require a paragraph of lore-dumping, which I am prone to do at a moments notice, just read any of my AU fics.
I have a LOT of WIPs, and some of them do have dialogue I quite enjoy. However, one of them just takes the cake: it's from an AU inspired by Baldur's Gate 3 (a very good game!) and tried to work within the canon of Dungeons and Dragons. In it, Klint is a bard of eloquence, rather than a ranger. I decided to make Balmung his stuffed hell-hound that Mama van Zieks made for him and he cherishes deeply, and my favorite dialogue is Klint talking to that Balmung:
”What was I thinking, Balmung?!“ No one would hear him, he had wards specially installed to prevent that. In here, he was free to talk how loud he wanted to an inanimate object, and no one to judge him for it, either! “Acting like some sort of seductress, touching her with my bare hands!” He gives Balmung a squeeze. “I don't want to be a harlot, and, I must have frightened her terribly with these talons of mine.”
This too, which happens some lines later:
“Hells!” He snatches his head back in. “Can you believe this, Balmung?” The dog did not respond, on account of being just a stuffed animal.
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
First off, Guillermo del Toro. He is one of my idols and I look up to his storytelling a lot. I love that he does not sacrifice color to tell dark stories, and that his works have taught me to accept that I'll write what I want! Another one is Zack Morrison who writes and draws the webcomic Paranatural, which I have kept up with since high school. They made the swap to a blend of writing and art sometime in 2021, and the descriptiveness and cleverness of the writing has made my jaw drop.
Next, Another one is Eiichiro Oda. That man can casually reference something he wrote hundreds of chapters ago, and no matter how crazy things get, it feels perfectly plausible within the world of One Piece. But unfortunately it's come at a cost due to him being a mangaka, and I must stress the importance of taking care of yourself before anything else.
These two are well-known for their diverse cast of characters, and Zack Morrison does little, but effective things to make the characters stand out even more in the mixed setting and it's genius. However, an honorable mention to Andrew Hussie and Homestuck, for popularizing the concept of using limited things in text like numbers and cases to distinguish the characters.
Now, the next is sillier: Elizabeth Hoyt and Tessa Dare. Yes, they crank out regency romance novels but they know their niche, damn it! My first romance novel was Duke of Sin by Elizabeth Hoyt, and it's helped me really come to terms with the fact that what I read is not necessarily what I want. I love the fantasies romance novels bring, but the idea of actually BEING in a romance makes me want to run away screaming!

Tales Of Arcadia Propaganda Part 2:
(I used some people's suggestions from the previous post. If you don't want yours on here, message me and I'll take it off the list!)
"Greetings Savage One... I come bearing undergarments, as a snack!"
Guys why don't they cover the trauma. Oh wait look. Fanfic.
Gulliemero Del Toro is the creator and worked on the series :)
Also, he's the VA of Toby's dentist.
Drake Meme with 'The Midnight Boys' and 'CREEPSLAYERZ'
*hits Morgana Le Fay With A Guitar* "Did you just strike me with a- a lute?" "NO NU NU NU NU NU- SpELlCasTeR GuITaR DaRLiNg!"
Gunmar just like fucking ate a woman and nobody seems to question it.
Cue the horror movie grade whistling. POP GOES THE SCARY PINK TROLL
The Teacher's staff of the entire high school was 5 people, but one was killed in season one, and the other was an imposter.
Don't mix up the rule #3's.
Alfred Molina voicing a talking cat with glasses.
Sonic The Hedgehog. But Stone.
King Arthur thought that Genocide was a better coping mechanism than just talking it out.
Unicorn AU!
The teacher's staff and Jim going on the changelings' version of crack.
The small saga of Douxie's motorcycle.
*Dolphin chattering*
WHAT DOES 'KLEB' EVEN MEAN
Toby canonically ate cat food. And liked it.
"I don't care about my dad!" "You do now."
*throws baby brother into the bushes*
The gyre.
"OH FUZZBUCKETS!"
How hungry must have Gunmar been if he ate the entirety of Arcadia's Janus Order....?
*throws a brick through window*
Their gym clothes are also their pajamas.
The movie was decent until Steve got pregnant.
Also Eli's several glow-ups
BUSTER :)
None Shall Live
Bular also ate a guy.
Merlin is never impressed. But he's been through a lot. So it's fine.
Tight Jeans Hank
All of Douxie's lines in the movie are just "NARI" in different tones and variations
The body-swap happened because if Douxie said "abracadabra buttsnacks" in his own body we would have lost our collective minds.
Once again. Feel free to add more!

Threw all my stories into picker wheel, and it told me to write “Hunger”, so I said, “Okay, mysterious forces of the universe, I’ll write that first chapter.”
Not even one page in, and I’ve made myself cry.
That’s how you know it’s good.  👍
---------
Here’s some insights.  Welcome to the Parasite AU.   Let’s meet the Armageddon Worm.
In this AU, Danny Fenton is living in Amity Park, which is one of the last civilizations on the planet.  About 20 years earlier, a parasite appeared.
This parasite is carried by animals but does not affect them in any way.  Mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians; there is nothing that does not become a carrier.  Soon, the entire ecosystem is infected, across the globe.
Animals carry the parasite, but it thrives in humans.  It enters the human body when humans ingest meat.  The parasite is a nasty little guy, too; like the tardigrade, they can withstand extreme temperatures, radiation, vast amounts of pressure, and can go for ten years (or more) without food or water and still be able to bounce back and reproduce.  In the human body, they can utilize blood and energy to rapidly heal their hosts.  Really, the only way to kill a human infested with the parasite is to destroy the brain (thus rendering the nervous system useless) and then destroy the body by incineration at a high temperature.  Cutting out the parasite is ineffective, because it has infected the blood and will simply grow back.  Also, removing it from the nervous system is almost always fatal to the host.
Once inside a human, it begins growing in their stomachs and hijacks their nervous system.  It eats and replaces the majority of their internal organs, leaving only the heart and lungs behind.  The host gains heightened senses and physical abilities and miraculous regenerative abilities, but they become ruled by hunger and lose most of their cognitive function.
In the final stage of its development, the parasite processes the consumed organs, expands its size, attaches itself to the severed blood vessels, and finishes developing the iconic “devouring arm”.  The arm sits at the base of the throat, and during feeding/hunting, can extend from the host’s mouth and use its sharp masticators to cut food and the internal teeth to move it into the main body of the parasite.  There, the food is processed for energy, and anything the body can’t use is hacked up.  Very soon after ejecting the waste, high levels of ghrelin are produced, and the host is once again stimulated to hunt.
(Think Guillermo del Toro’s “The Strain”, except they’re not vampires.)
Anyhow, about 20 years ago, this parasite appeared.  It can infect humans through bites from one to another, contact with infected blood, or ingesting an infected animal; so for some time, people did not know where it was coming from.  Birds, insects, fish, and international shipping methods helped to infect the whole world within a few weeks.  Chaos and violence ensued, and even when people had no contact with the infected, cases continued.
Scientists had conflicting reports of what carried the parasite.  Certain insects.  Rodents.  Birds.  Biologist Maddie Fenton, working with her husband Jack, made the connection.  They tested a number of species, and realized that ALL non-human animal species larger than houseflies were carriers.
At this point, civilization had already broken down.  But they spread the word, and soon, strongholds were able to develop, including Amity Park, the stronghold of the Midwest.  It consists of two concentric structures; the center is a bubble-city, with artificial atmosphere, weather, and farming techniques.  Anyone who goes in is sterilized before entry, so that they can’t bring insects inside.  The second layer is a mile-thick area of suburban ruin, which has been cleared of Eaters.  It is surrounded by a wall, for defense.  If there is a breach, the hope is that this inner region will allow a barrier against the main city, a safe zone to hunt the Biters while the wall is repaired.  This ruin is called the Outskirts of Amity Park.
Jack and Maddie Fenton developed the city’s defenses, while Damon Gray leads the community in food production for a safe and vegan lifestyle.  The Fentons continue to produce weapons against the infected and are trying to find a way to eradicate the parasite from the ecosystem.  So far, 20 years have passed, and they have made little progress.
Enter Danny, Sam, and Tucker.  Despite the world having gone to hell in a handbasket, they are teenagers who are going to school.  While some of their lessons are traditional, many involve science and technology, and P.E. supplements a soldier training period for those who wish to battle against the Biters on the outside.  They train in high school, run missions outside the wall for one year, guard the wall for one year, patrol the Outskirts for one year, and those who are still alive move to the inner city to become guards there or decide where to be stationed as a general.  (I imagine Jazz training to be a psychiatrist for PTSD sufferers.)  A certain number of people have to apply for the program when they enter high school.  If they don’t, there is a mandatory draft.
Danny lives under the shadow of his parents’ great success and subsequent frustrations.  He feels like he should doing something useful to help the town, but he’s a bit of a dreamer instead.  He is really interested in the world from before he was born and spends much of his time looking into it.  Researching at the library – watching old news reports and movies – exploring ruins in the inner-wall region.  He thinks it’s amazing that people once went to outer space.  Now, they’ll never leave Amity Park.
Tucker and Sam are his friends, of course.  Tucker is really interested in technology and is training to enter the weapons and communication development field.  Sam is into plant sciences and wants to enter the field of food science.  Danny – well, he honestly doesn’t know.  He figured he would train to be a soldier, but then his parents forbid it.  No big loss there – he isn’t the most physically adept person.  But, he doesn’t seem to have a calling, besides history.  Mr. Lancer thinks he should be a teacher.
But of course, he wouldn’t be Danny Fenton if he didn’t somehow lose his humanity.
🙈
That’s as much as I’ll share for the premise without getting into any important spoilers.  Inspiration for this au from:  The Strain, Attack on Titan, Ao no Exorcist, D.Gray Man, and a fanfic I was writing for Heinlein’s The Puppet Masters back in college.

What are some of your favorite things ever? (It can be anything; Food, Feelings, Books and Movies, Characters, Places, etc...)
It’s Big Thought Time
Hmm, food is always tricky so I’ll have to go with multiple, definitely pancakes/blini (equally enjoy making them and eating them), both the regular wider blin and this kind of tiny yeasted blin, both with fruit or generally anything sweet; then chicken schnitzel, svíčková (traditional czech, beef steak with pretty thick sauce made of root vegetables, spices and cream and served with bread dumpling, it sounds fancy but is actually pretty easy to make), tortillas, asian fried noodles, sushi and the like, nothing special
Feelings, hm, you know that feeling when your head is buzzing and your chest almost hurts from excitement about something? The kind of almost a high, when you discuss characters and AUs with friends for hours and hours. The feeling when you’re almost lucid dreaming and in that dream are capable of flight. And the feeling when something you said and did not even think as very funny makes your friend laugh to the point of tears. That’s one of the most special feelings in the world.
For books, I’m not going to count Frankenstein here, that has long since evolved far beyond being a mere book for me. So as for “normal” books I’d probably select Doctor Sleep by Stephen King and Star Wars Republic Commando series by Karen Traviss, those are the only two that ever made me cry. Also the first two Warrior Cats books, those hold a special place in my heart
Movies, obviously How To Train Your Dragon, Jurassic Park one and three, Disney’s Dinosaur, Dragonheart and Eragon (terrible adaptation of the books but there’s a lot of sentimental value), these were a big part of my childhood and I think shaped a large part of me as a human being, especially HTTYD (that alone would be enough for a whole separate post). Lion King 2, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Treasure Planet and Brother Bear are also movies I’d watch any time. Also Pan’s Labyrinth by Guillermo del Toro is an amazing movie, I adore it, and it’s one of the reasons why I think del Toro would make the best Frankenstein adaptation. Please watch the movie, it’s terrifying, it’s heartbreaking, it’s gorgeous.
Characters, in no particular order, Varian from Tangled the Series, Danny Torrance from Doctor Sleep (and technically The Shining), Graystripe from the first Warrior Cats arc, Fi from the Republic Commando series, there is definitely more but I can’t think of any more right now. The Frankenstein characters are for me on a fine line between characters and OCs but it’s gotta be Henry, Robert, Victor (not exactly as a person but he’s an incredibly interesting character and, yeah, I feel sorry for the poor bastard) and if headcanons and AUs count then it’s my son, my boy Ernest
Places, during those short three weeks before schools closed and moved to online, my university’s city quickly became my favourite, the dorms, the historical centre where the lecture buildings are located, the architecture, the vibe... I miss it. And I really like the Alps (as may have been clear from my “Henry and mountains discourse” post :D), and in general high elevated places where the view is wide and far and the wind lifts your soul to the sky. Also one particular forest in the Jeseníky mountains, (Czech republic). And anywhere where you can see the sky.
Welp that was a long post, sorry for that lol
And thank you for the ask <3

Trollhunters AU
where everything is the same except for 3 things:
1. Toby is allowed to be a more than just the “Fat Best Friend” comedy relief; Jim is allowed to not always be a shining paragon.
(While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the series-- it has some fantastic humor, and quite a compelling storyline that does some clever things with clichés of the hero’s journey-- it does sometimes feel like Tobes gets written off for some easy [lazy] jokes about fatness and body humor [which always, to me, seemed to fall flat] …  while Jim gets shoe-horned into being just a competent white knight.
So much of the story was expressly about how  Jim was stronger as a Trollhunter because of his friends. What I wish is that they had doubled-down on that  with Toby specifically by having him play more of a role in Trollhunting than Jim’s moral support, more of a role in the overall plot than being the bumbling oaf with a heart-of-gold. He got close during his more angsty moments, especially when he had to insist to the world  that he wasn’t useless without Jim / to Jim. So how about the story letting him actually demonstrate that more?
And as for Jim, well … He’s a 16-year-old boy [teenage puberty] now having to go through high school, to take care of his mom, and to protect an underground community; basically, I wish they’d let him be that a bit more-- be the idiot kid who desperately needs a nap, desperately wants to scream “FUCK!”, and is still growing up so does desperately need his friends [especially Tobes] to help him because he’s got no clue what he’s doing.  Basically, how about the story forcing him to actually accept  that he is kinda useless without his friends?)
2. Troll biology and society are developed more-- meaning, some Troll worldbuilding--and are non-human.
(While I know the inconsistencies and vaguenesses with Trolls  don’t really matter for the story, it would’ve been cool and interesting to see them explored as a completely different species.
I think I’ll make a separate post about how what this could’ve been …)
And 3. JIM ACTUALLY LIVES UP TO BEING A GOOD COOK
BY *NOT* ORDERING A STEAK THAT’S *WELL-FUCKING-DONE*.
LIKE, WHAT THE *FUCK*, DEL TORO?!  ARE YOU TELLING ME *CHEF-BOY* JIM WOULD  PURPOSEFULLY ORDER A PIECE OF
*FLAVORLESS* CHARCOAL-LEATHER?!  WAS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE FORESHADOWING  FOR WHEN HE’D NO LONGER BE ABLE TO EAT HUMAN FOOD, OR DID WE JUST DECIDE TO GO OUTRAGEOUSLY OOC  FOR FUNSIES?!
GODS ABOVE, YOU DON’T *EVER* COOK STEAK PAST MEDIUM--THAT IS STEAK COOKING 101!
*deep breath, deep breath, deep breath* So, yeah, those are the only three things I’d alter in order to improve this already superb series. Y’all should watch “Trollhunters”.

I was going to ask Silent Hill for that fandom ask thing and then your box says "ask me about Silent Hill" so now I DEFINITELY have to ask about Silent Hill.
BUT OF COURSE!
How I entered/learned about the said game/show/movie/etc of that fandom: I grew up in a mostly-no-video-games household, so a lot of my gaming sort of had to happen from afar, via LPs or friends’ houses. But Silent Hill had piqued my interest in high school, since I was really into psychology and symbolism and I’d heard the series had a lot of both. I excitedly rented the movie and was incredibly disappointed when the story wound up being kind of shallow and nonsensical. BUT THEN, after getting to college, I met a couple guys who would go on to be awesome friends (and, as of last month, housemates), and at one point while we were hanging out before class, idly mentioned that I’d always wanted to check out Silent Hill. They looked at each other, then looked at me, and went “... Come to our room this weekend.” AS APPROPRIATELY-OMINOUS AS THAT SOUNDS, we wound up going through each game one by one, a little every weekend. AND THAT’S HOW I GOT INTO SILENT HILL. I was never the same.
Fave character: Heather Mason
Least fave character: It’s really hard to pick a least favorite, since the only time I ever really DISLIKE a character is if they grate on me every time I have to watch/read about them, and there aren’t really any SH characters who fit the bill for that. If I had to choose, I guess DJ Ricks because he started so interesting and then wound up utterly unexplained and unimportant in the bigger narrative. That’s a big flaw of the more recent games imo-- introducing characters for the sake of drama or mystery but then just seemingly forgetting what they were going to do with them and sort of dropping them. Ricks isn’t the only character this has happened to, but he’s probably the most recent example.
OTP(s): I don’t do a whole lot of in-canon shipping, tbh. But I do really like James/Mary, Henry/Eileen, and HeatherAlessa/Claudia. I also have a stupid self-indulgent high school AU where I totally ship Eddie/James/Angela as a very sad but very sweet OT3. And, if we’re going with crack ships, Travis/James.  That said, Silent Hill’s not a great canon for romance. So a lot of my ‘OTPs’ tend to fall into some gray territory between friendship, love, heartbreak, and hate.
Pairing that everyone likes but I don’t get: Well, first off, a disclaimer: there aren’t really any ships that I don’t “get”-- in most cases I absolutely understand WHY people might find them appealing even if I personally don’t. But I covered this pretty in-depth at one point and looking back, it all still holds true so THERE U GO. Although, obligatory mention of Alex/Josh because that was a pretty popular one for awhile and while it was almost definitely mostly teenage girls shipping it, pairing a prepubescent boy with his twenty-something sibling is super fucking no bueno so pls dont.
Fave thing about the fandom: Honestly, as shitty as large pockets of the fandom are, I like that it’s pretty quiet over on the fandom side. A lot of the wank happens over in the gaming sector, and tbh I’m not about that life. I’ve had pretty good luck staying in my little corner writing fic and RPing the characters. I’m fairly well-known, but not to the extent that I’ve ever gotten hated on that I’m aware of, and I’ve met a LOT of sweet, sane, and down-to-earth fans who tend to mostly interpret the series in the same way I have. I’ve even developed incredible longterm friendships (not to mention a relationship) through people reading Gravity, finding my fanart, or even just bumping into me when we’re both cosplaying SH. It’s nice.
The most despised thing: The fact that every single new announcement regarding the series since 2008 (aka the year I got into it) has varied between “immediate meteor-strike levels of buttfury” and “I dared to get my hopes up and all I got was heartbroken tweets from Guillermo del Toro and a glass of my own tears”.
If there is something I would change from said game/show/movie/etc., what would it be:
Tumblr media
i can’t answer that because i would never get up from this couch again
