Yes, actually! Though they're more separated by... I guess biological types would be the best explanation for it.

There are 4 different types of Pegasi: Dancers, Singers, Hunters, and Flyers

Dancers are Pegasi like Blaze; bright, flashy, and are built less for flying, and more for dazzling. Any bird where their mating strategy is "LOOK AT ME, I'M THE PRETTIEST BOI IN THE ROOM AND YOU KNOW IT" is most likely a Dancer.

Singers, on the other, I guess "hoof" in this case, are the songbirds. Blessed with beautiful voices, and some even state they can convince you to do their bidding with their songs. Any bird who sings to attract, so Heart Throb is a Singer

Hunters are your birds of prey or any bird that is carnivorous in nature. While all Pegasi are omnivorous, Hunters are mostly carnivorous, like that of dogs, and tend to be a little more territorial than other Pegasi. So you're moose/eagle Pegasus would be a hunter.

and finally Flyers are the Pegasi that are, well, good at flying (and tends to be a kind of junk drawer for any Pegasus that doesn't fit into any of the other categories). Any bird that is fast, or agile is a Flyer Pegasus, that would mean you're crow/small deer Pegasus is a Flyer (ain't that serendipitous).

There are some mixed categories, like a Pegasus can be both a Dancer and a Flyer. Or a Singer and a Hunter, but most of the time, they tend to consider themselves one or the other.

It's not super uncommon for the different types to live and work together, especially in places like big cities, but most the time, they tend to stick to their "own kind". Not out of hatred or fear of each other, but more "Hey man, I need more than just this cramped house to spread my wings" kind of thing.

Oh! And to answer whether or not Blaze's family is mostly peafowl: his mother is actually a Flyer (still determining what kind), while his father was a Dancer (peacock). Genetically, there are no mixed bird or deer types (unless they happen naturally on earth), so even though Blaze himself has Flyer in him, he's a purebred Dancer because he took his father's bird type, if that makes any sense.

Riddle- Bulbasaur

Bulbasaur is the ringleader of Ash's Pokemon, and Riddle respects it a lot

to be able to keep 50+ chaotic Pokemon in line, despite many of them having the ability to toss Bulbasaur around like a salad

Bulbasaur also has none of the Adeuce shenanigans and is constantly using his vines to stop them

Riddle and Bulbasaur have very peaceful teatime with each other

and by peaceful, I mean the two relax at a table drinking tea and eating cookies

while Ace, Deuce, Grim and Ash goof around

they need the "parental supervision" a Riddle put it

ignoring the fact that Ash has raised Pokemon from eggs like they were her own kids lol

all in all, Riddle and Bulbasaur are actually the most peaceful duo in this entire thing

Leona- Rowlet

ever since Rowlet arrived in TWST, Leona has been waking up with it sleeping somewhere near him

next to him

on his lap

on his shoulder

it was in his hair once

and every single time when he woke up, he would either scare Rowlet awake so it would fly away, or he'd just throw it

but last time he threw Rowlet, Ash threw him, so no more throwing Rowlet

as time went on, he sorta just learned to accept the fact that Rowlet was now his sleeping buddy

and no matter where he hid, he would always be found

no one brings it up to him either, because who wants to tell leona kingscholar that he's getting friendly with a fricking owl

Azul- Dracovish

Azul thoughts Dracovish was kinda derpy (tbh, he kinda still does)

but when he sees Dracovish's Fishious Rend practically obliterate the practice dummies

he suddenly glad that Ash didn't use Dracovish on him when he Overblot...

she did, he just doesn't remember :/

Dracovish was relentless btw

Dracovish loves being petted, and once jumped into the Octavinelle water tank just to make Azul get out of his office

then, once Azul gets out of the office, Dracovish pops out and asks for pets

at this point, Azul caught onto it, but doesn't have the heart to stop it

he won't admit it, but he does like Dracovish

Kalim- Totodile

Kalim and Totodile meet for the first time

then Ash has trouble getting Totodile to go back to Ramshackle with her

the two are immediately glued together and dancing and playing around in the water

jamil is tired

they're literally best friends when the day ends

Kalim and Totodile are hugging each other, huge crocodile tears in their eyes as Jamil and Ash have to physically separate them because it is past curfew, dammit Kalim

Kalim is actually one of the very very few that a majority of Ash's Pokemon like

Vil- Unfezant

ahhh Unfezant

so agile, so graceful

done so dirty in all of her battles, she deserves better

Vil first meets Unezant as she's flying around with Ash's other Flying-types, and he's never seen a bird do as many elegant aerial tricks as her

is intrigued with how well maintained she is

meanwhile, Unfezant is wondering who the hell this boy is and why he's looking at her like that

is, ironically, unsettled by Vil at first because all he does when he sees her is analyze her, which makes her very uncomfortable

retaliates by sending string gusts of wind to mess up his hair

and Ash has to proceed to tell a very irate Vil that he's making Unfezant very uncomfy and the wind thing was her way of making him stop

guess Rook rubbed off on him more than he's like to admit...

slowly, Vil begins to actually talk to Unfezant, especially complimenting her flying prowess, and Unfezant starts to kind of like him a bit

now messes his hair up as a sign of appreciation :)

Idia- Pikachu

despite being a cat guy, Idia was immediately interested in Ash's only Electric-type

Idia is mildly concerned, but seeing as she isn't hurt he lets it slide

Malleus- Charizard

Like, the whole gang is around the table, and the tagline is looking for new adventures! The globe robin is pointing to is outside the grandline and everything, ahahah and usopp has clearly had his fun trip to elbaf :] ANYWAYS, i went back to take a look at this,, and lo and behold! Luffys strawhat is no where in sight! Haha he does have a silly pirate captain get up though :D and his jolly roger is still on his hat!! I imagine he’s playing dressup rather than keeping this as a permenant outfit, and it doesnt confirm if the strawhat is gone or anything, but i thought it was interesting to note.

Anyways. No joke. This made me so choked up man… u keep doin this to me…. It always struck me that sabo’s dream as a child was to write an amazing book and travel the world- not anything like bringing freedom to the oppressed. Luffy and Ace went down direct paths to fulfill their respective dreams, but Sabos having more of an indirect approach to it, and even then, he has so many duties as chief that he probably doesnt have any time to write!

I don’t think I’ve seen him look so free before. He’s dedicated his life to bringing freedom to others, and now he’s free to pursue his own childhood dreams to the fullest. KILL ME 💥💥💥💥💥💥

I found your analysis of his childhood verse adult outfits REALLY interesting, and it fits soooo well. I love the lighter, calm colours that you ultimately went with. Design talk:

Im gonna start with just sharing his canon designs

Colors:

Something i want to call attention to is the blue and black in his design.

When he was young, Sabo wore his heart on his sleeve. He had a dream for himself and was taking steps to complete it. Likewise, that blue on his coat is on full display its bright and vibrant and saturated. But also theres that dark blue, almost black, thats underneath it thats being hidden by that coat, the pants, and his tattered cravat. Likewise again, Sabo is hiding his darker side. He has secrets he doesn’t want his brothers to know of and he lets his aspirations and relationships he has with them outshine his past.

In his present design, that blue that was representative of his dreams, is now the one being hidden. Its covered by a complete black coat, a representative of the darkness in his life that now is drives him. This color switch up is symbolic for how he’s put off his dreams and kept it locked up (belt), while choosing instead to pursue a life of darkness for the greater good.

Also, these pictures of young sabo and young adult sabo, you can visually see how less saturated it is. The blue is duller of the coat/undershirt and even more-so with the pants. You can see how he’s much less vibrant than how he was.

In my Post-Story idea, what happens leading up to it is that Sabo succeeds in taking down the world government and after he’s sure the world can move on without him, he goes sailing alone as a pirate to write a book about the world, like he’s always wanted to do. Also, Luffy returns his straw hat to shanks.

So in my design, sabo wears a vibrant blue coat again. He’s living his dream and has nothing holding him back from doing it. The black is still used, and its not being covered, but its on his pants and his gloves. He still has that darkness, but he doesn’t use it as protection or as something to hide, rather as something he moves forwards and progresses with. He will never forget what pain and hardship he went through and he’s not trying to. However, whats underneath all the layers is not darkness or dreams, and its not necessarily being hidden either, its light. Not BRIGHT, but light. Mellow and calm. The settled true nature of a healed man.

I took more colors from his child design than i did with his young adult (YA) one, too. I wanted to show how he’s reconnecting with his younger self by bringing them through to his Post-Story look!

Also, since his journal is his dream, it is blue, as well.

Items of Clothing:

In both of his canon designs, there is a sense of properness. A top hat, cravat, tailcoat, etc etc.. Its all properness. But more than that, its the idea of responsibility.

Whether he acts responsible or not isn’t what matters in his case, instead its that he wants to look responsible. He wants this because a) he was a little kid who wanted to grow up too fast and be taken seriously, and b) because he has an incredible amount of responsibility being the second in command of the revolutionary army.

To further prove that, I would like to point out his silly little cravat. I love his cravat. But how the hell is that practical for his line of work? Sabo is concerned with being practical, hence his baggy/movable pants and leather gloves. Additionally, just the waist/trench coat, belt, top hat combo would suffice for a proper looking person, but it’s taken excessively with the cravat. The cravat is purely for appearances.

Further symbolism with his cravat, i think, is that this appearance is visually choking him. Its wrapped tightly around his neck when he was a child and when he was most under control of a much higher power. However, when he’s a YA, it’s a lot looser. He’s got some agency, but he’s still being suffocated by responsibilities.

On with my design.

I took away his cravat. Im sorry but it is SYMBOLIC!!!!!!! He is not worried anymore with appearances, he is Free.

I took away his top hat but not his goggles, too. I think that after Luffy gives back the straw hat, Sabo forgoes his hat as well. In solidarity, maybe. If you think about it, the top hat isnt what makes his hat so special, its the goggles. So i got rid of the hat and kept The Goggs. Although it is sad that they are no longer Hatted, as that is one of the beautiful appeals of ASL, they are no longer ASL.

I wanted to keep aspects of his YA design, since even though it is very perforative, its still a style that he’s stuck with since childhood, so he’s gotta like it in some capacity. I just tried to make everything look a lot looser/open on him.

Lastly, i gave him a bit of a beard cuz i think he deserves it.

In NCT U, I ship you with Lucas! Lucas is such an expressive and loud member. He’s constantly talking and shouting lol. He’s also super funny naturally because of his derpy facial expressions. They are golden. You won’t be able to stop laughing whenever you’re around him. Lucas is honestly lowkey touchy. He’ll pull you into hugs randomly all the time. Even though he has a deeper voice, his vocals are not to be over looked. And his dancing skills are on point.

In NCT 127, I ship you with Haechan! Haechan is also another loud member in the group. He’s constantly talking and has so much energy in him. But he also has a lot of sass to him and can be such a savage when he wants to. Haechan is such a brat, honestly lol. He’s always waiting for the right moment to roast his hyungs. As I’m sure that you already know, Haechan’s vocals are one of a kind and his dancing skills are amazing. Also, Haechan hopes to be a song writer later in his musical career.

In NCT Dream, I ship you with Chenle! Oh our local land Dolphin here is the loudest person I think out of everyone in NCT. His laughs and screams can be heard from across the world honestly lol. Whenever he finds something hilarious, that high pitch, loud laugh of his is sure to have you laughing right along with him. As I’m sure that you already know, but Chenle’s voice is very lovely.

In WayV, I ship you with Ten! Ten is honestly one of the few members that’s honestly ready fight the others if he needs to. He’ll probably have you hold all his earrings while he goes and throws his hands at them. Ten is also super sassy as well and can roast like no other as seen with the Diss competition with the other WayV members lmao. Ten is a wonderful dancer and he was honestly born to dance. That video of him dancing in an art museum was actual art itself.

My Opinion/Review/Thoughts on KHlll (the good stuff)

the graphic was simple breathtaking and amazing. I was worried first after watching the first trailers but it turned out to be very beautiful

the animaton was so good: the facial expressions and movements were spot on and finally no more creepy derpy faces which annoyed me the hell in kh2

the gameplay was so much fun: the battles looked amazing and never out of place

the worlds were huge and full of life: FINALLY NPCs for God's sake. And they could even talk *is still shocked*

the voice acting was pretty good and almost every line in the game was voiced: Haley was so amazing as Vanitas and Sora, although some of Soras lines sound a bit forced with his higher voice he uses but it's such an improvement from DDD and 0.2. They also got 99 % of the old voice actors back

Finally some good old Disney humor which I missed since kh1: the game itself was so funny, the characters in the world's were spot on and I never smiled so much during the interactions between Sora and the Disney characters (including Donald and Goofy) the humor wasn't cringy at all

Sassy, badass Sora was back. DDD Sora was so horrible irritating. Btw this Guy is looking like a freaking eye candy/model, god damn how can someone be that pretty. The same goes for Riku and most of the characters.

the music was amazing as always including the intro theme and ending theme and was always spot on

the interactions between Sora, Donald and Goofy were one of the best things that happened in KH3 for me. They are the heart (no pun intended) of the franchise and I missed so much playing as them. With other Characters the journey felt always so empty and lonely. With this trio you have so much fun and adorable interactions and their friendship was potrayed very well but I still have issues with Donalds treatment of Sora later that I will write about in the bad stuff section

Some Disney worlds had actually new story's and weren't just boring retellings of the plot like Monster Inc, Toy Story and Big Hero Six ( this one was actually very good and very moving since I love this movie and it was a great continuation of the story)

Jiminy having more screentime and supporting Sora in the end when he was alone and rescuing the others

The reunions of the wayfinder trio and seasalt trio were very moving and brought tears to my eyes

playable Aqua (even if it was for one battle) it was so much fun kicking Vanitas ass with her again

the twilight town trio actually doing something important

Larxene's sass and voice acting. I love that bitch and she is so different from the other female characters

the final battles were pretty epic and the other guardians of light were party members

no final fantasy characters who waste screentime aside from two thank God

no skipable world's who waste more screentime as well

Master Yen Sid actually doing something other than sitting on his chair

Lea was the most self aware character ever and even bashes the shitty plot lol

Soul- Traumagenic system member

Gender-male

Species- human

Appearance- just like the host but as a guy with more scars, a smaller booty, and shorter lashes,

Personality- really fuckin derpy, I see the Host's safety and stuff as being number 1 and I will force her out of her body to take her place if she's being hurt by stupid people making stupid choices, my smarts only shine when I'm doing science, math, or psychology.

Other- I have Aspergers, Anxiety, Depression, Social Anxiety and Insomnia just like our host, but my insomnia and depression are worse, making me tired and sleep deprived most of the time and feeling really suicidal if I'm not helping someone out. My big sis is Alice, my twin sis/other half is Heart (I'm the older twin btw), and my adopted transgender brother (was born female, [he was called Ci-Ci back when he was a girl] is now a male, just for clarity) named Ace. Also, when our host decided enough was enough and got her hair cut short, my hair was the inspiration for hers, (short sides and back with a longer top then leaving it naturally styled [literally not having to style it ]), I have the power to summon shields and stuff (aka, defensive summoning)

Past- it was a normal life but only three memories stick out, when I met our host during "The War" ( a war where two endomatic system members named Daisy and Masquerade fought for the position of ruler in the mindscape and the battle ultimately killed them both and we decided that the mindscape would be divided into three sections with the eldest from each section being joint rulers beside our host [section 1 or the white section's ruler is My sis Alice, section 2 or section grey is ruled by Shade, section 3 or section black is ruled by Morgan] so yadda yadda yadda). memory 2 I met Ace (Ci-ci at the time), in section grey while I was doing my thing and had chosen to take a nap on the ground in the middle of nowhere after I had an argument with my sisters (I was dumb and ran off to cool down) and I had gotten kidnapped by a random wolf (I'm very scrawny and weak so it just grabbed me by the hood and even tho I woke up when it started dragging me off I still couldn't escape alone also don't ask why the wolf did that, the animals here are weird and don't always act like animals do out there) so yeah I'm pretty dumb and weak, so the wolf was kidnapping me and I was flailing about and yelling for help when I hear hoofbeats coming closer so I look over and there is a horse with a scarecrow on it, obviously I do the only thing I could really do and I screamed at it, when the scarecrow yelled at me "dude what are you even doing?! And stop screaming!!" So yeah, long story short i was freed from the wolf and the scarecrow just turned out to be a girl sort of rebelling against her friend's orders to actually wear some proper riding gear (instead of a helmet she was wearing a goddamn jack-o-lantern on her head so I feel that me thinking she was a scarecrow and screaming at her was justifiable) then we somehow became friends and ended up meeting there from time to time, then my last interesting memory is my favorite memory of all time, it's when I decided to meet the rest of the people from section 3 and invite myself over for a sleepover since I had nothing better to do lol, so I got my stuff into my backpack (including a small tent incase i got myself kicked out) and set out, when I got there i obviously went to knock on the door but I opened before i could knock, it swung open knocking me over, and out stepped a girl with long wavy black hair, green eyes, and a tattoo on her upper right arm, (I later learned that this was Morgan) she turned to face me and before I knew it she had me by the collar, my back was against a wall, my feet weren't touching the ground and she was yelling at me about why I was there, who I was, where I came from and all that stuff, I tried to answer but she didn't believe me until Ci-ci came to see what the ruckus was, and I will never forget her face when she recognized me there before sorting everything out, eventually I somehow got invited to stay and have dinner with them, (because why not?) so during the first half of dinner no one said a word and just ate, which was kinda a culture shock to me since I was used to food fights, giggling about dumb stories, sharing my theories, and knowing about everyone's day, but I did notice that a boy with black hair, dark blue eyes, and a mask (called Phantom, but he's not a human so I'm not 100% sure if I should be calling him a boy) and a girl with black hair in twin drills and blue eyes (called Shyla) were flashing looks of boredom at each other, well, mainly the guy since he wasn't eating (he physically can't eat due to his species [at least I think it can be considered a species]) so as a smart decision I decided to try and break the ice by asking if anyone if they'd ever seen a Disney movie (since I enjoy Disney movies) and the instant I asked that, Phantom shot Shyla a devilish smirk as if to say "here's my chance" and he LEPT UP ONTO THE TABLE AND PROCEEDED TO GIVE ME A SPEECH ABOUT HOW HE ENJOYED THE ART STYLE WHILE THE REST OF THE TABLE DECENDED INTO CHAOS AROUND HIM it was the best thing I have ever seen to this day, Morgan ended up having to use -

Every single character gets extra expressive sprites that fit their character, no exception (except maybe Trallface because it's funny) (Trollge Gf is probably a little more... Flirty and provoking)

Y'know Sadness? It's getting thunder strikes as part of the song, like Alone from Mario's Madness, plus Smiler shaking to the beat (listen to the song and tell me him shaking doesn't fucking fit)

Rage? Smiler swings his axe according to the beat. Also his voice is louder because he's fucking pissed lol

Incident has laughter as part of the chord progression in certain bits of the song because it's kinda creepy to me lol and also glitching in certain parts of the song

Redemption is already perfect on it's own, no need for aesthetic other than expressive sprites

Shoukoku no Altair Liveblogging (Chapter 13)

I feel like I should at least try to keep ahead of the anime...

Bit of a time skip, it is apparently 15 days since the fighting broke out over the port town. And Mr. Glorious Hair is here to lead the assault. If you notice, here, even the archers behind him all have subtly different appearances...

Chapter 13: Lizard of the Back Alley

Interesting chapter title.

Talk about an uphill battle, yeesh.

There hasn’t been that much gore or violence so far, relatively speaking. Until now.

Ouch. The arrow even broke through the shield.

Not only is this an example of an uphill battle, it is also a lovely way to express just how brutal the Empire is, even with its own army. 

Harsh. Not unrealistic for the times, but harsh. However, it is written that the most dangerous soldiers are trapped soldiers. With nowhere to retreat, and an overwhelming force in front of them. But it’s also advised to avoid trying to take over walled cities if at all possible. Guess they’re counting on the fact that they have enough meat shields to overcome the Phoenicians’ defenses or starve them out.

Nice ship. I forgot who the Venedik were though...

I’ve been blogging sporadically, so I keep forgetting everyone’s names...This the second or third time the manga has labeled Constantinos and the others. Usually I read straight through so it seems superfluous.

Hm, Constantinos is really confident, but this looks to be a very bad situation. The Empire can attack them from the sea and land, and the only way they can really win is if their allies manage to show up.

I don’t have that much to say this chapter, just that I have a feeling things aren’t going to end very well...Or at least, things will get worse before they get better.

Mahmut is an interesting combination of a thinking protagonist and young and impulsive. He’s definitely a thinker, but his youth supersedes that at times. Like a few chapters ago, he thinks, but is too quick to self-sacrifice, or he jumps to conclusions.

He is being incredibly realistic here, perhaps because he has less personal stock in the immediate situation than the Phoenicians.

I love how downright menacing he looks here. Of course, it’s not actually Mahmut who is menacing, but the threat of the Empire/Minister Louis. When this series plays with the lights and shadows, it really makes an impact.

Considering Mahmut’s track record with suggestions that involve him going off alone to resolve a situation...not sure if I should be relieved he’s taking a stand or worried.

Ah, he looks so self-assured. He’s doing the right thing this time! Yup! Totally not going to screw this up. The thing is, these things he comes up with are completely logical and even necessary, he just...doesn’t realize he is but one person. 

lol you can join the club of people Mahmut unintentionally exasperates.

More symbolism here! The light goes out, leaving them in total darkness. To make matters worse, the floor beneath their feet is not exactly stable.

Sort of like the situation Mahmut has found himself in this time.

ugh he sounds small and desperate here, but his argument is weak. It seems like he is trying to convince himself, never mind Kyros.

Mahmut always seems to find himself floundering like this. He wants to help Turkiye. He’s desperate to do so. and yet cannot find the “right” way to go about it no matter where he turns.

They don’t seem like much, but these panels actually bring up some important points.

It’s clear Mahmut has issues with expectations. He expects himself to be as competent as people twice his age or more, and is frustrated and disappointed in himself when he doesn’t live up to those expectations. So he tries to either overcompensate (by self-sacrifice) or, here, thinks of what the more ‘successful’ people in his life would do.

I like the process of his growth and development. Yeah, he already learned to rely on others in order to become someone reliable, he learned that his self-sacrificial behavior helps no one. But that doesn’t mean he’s going to be perfect right away.

It sort of shocks me how much Mahmut feels like his age.

...And how much he does not feel like his age at the same time. At least, not how seventeen year olds of today are like.

But! He does show more growth here! He learned from his blunder at Hisar.

This is actually quite interesting - he’s really a shounen protagonist at heart. He wants to help people, and feels for them. He’s not like Zaganos who would seemingly toss any number of people under the bus for the greater good.

But he is also a soldier. And if he ever wants to become pasha again, he has to remember that the safety of the country he swore his loyalty to comes before all else.

btw, he looks great for someone who is dangling in midair, supported by someone who has equally bean-like arms as himself, and thiiis close to falling to his death.

lol he got me fired up too. Mahmut can be very convincing when he gets in the mood.

NO IT’S LOUIS AGAIN. 

Don’t like him very much, but I’ve got to say his hair gets more and more impressive by the chapter. It’s going to reach his chin soon...

I love this little detail. The pieces are on little ships! Because they’re fighting at sea! It’s adorable.

THAT TAKES SOME GUTS. Or, alternatively, a lot of pawns and death threats.

How the hell did they get past the whirlpools and scale the crystal cliffs anyway?

I take that back, her hair is even crazier.

Anyway, that was a decent set up chapter. It’s certainly raising a lot of red flags (Constantinos, I’m looking at you, you just doomed your city by spouting all that confident talk). I’m looking forward to how the hell our little MC is going to salvage this situation, it should take at least some time to get to Venedik, and time is not something they have a surplus of...

His eyes are closed in both pictures, but he actually does look a little derpy when he looks directly at u lol but I just can't manage to take a proper pic of him, since he seems to not fancy phones so much. Generally speaking the last few weeks were super weird for me, but I mostly blame it on work and my lack of sleep lol Also the customers are....very high maintenance again as per usual during summer. I just don't get it. The sun is out, aren't most people happy when this is the case? People are weird man.

I have a snazzy phone now. The camera is pretty rad.

Storage overall is great, but the provided cloud space isn’t.

I have already run out of the provided cloud space, which isn’t bad. I don’t depend on it.

I definitely take less photos than the me 10+ years ago did.

Every few days I delete photos in my phone.

I want to store everything on the phone, anyway. That’s why I opted for the one with all the space lol

What I need to do is make some videos to alleviate space, to halt these notifications about running out of cloud space.

I meal prepped some curry and recorded the process, but have yet to stitch it all together.

Each day I have a goal of weeding, usually my closet. Sometimes I achieve the goal, sometimes not. Sometimes it’s a smaller number, because my goals are usually a target number. I tell myself -40 clothing items and it usually ends up being 7-10.

Today, I looked around my bathroom and determined it is in a good situation. I depleted quite a few lotion bottles, have one I am still working diligently at, and somehow still have some of Trang’s gifted facewash left over. Skip.

I decided to skip my original bedroom, which is basically storage. In that moment it felt a bit overwhelming. I have a rack in there that all the items on it I plan on selling or at least attempt to sell.

So I decided to go through photos.

I horde things. Information. Photos. Lip products. Paper was a problem too, shredded TONS of paper a few months back.

I used to take photos of EVERYTHING. Doesn’t help I get distracted by flowers or the way light filters through trees (komorebi-木漏れ日).

I guess at some point I already deleted, shredded, or otherwise disposed of many photos. My remaining photos are contained in an open topped shoe box.

While I started going through photos and envelopes I thought, ‘If we leave no evidence, we don’t know how people lived.’ You know, archaeologists have to excavate and analyze items left behind in order to figure out how ancient civilizations lived. Not the best analogy, but I mean you get it. For example, there was a HUGE tube tv in one photos. One envelope was adverting photo processing at 7.39+tax Most had a numbered cassette and a printed index of contents. We obviously don’t live like this anymore lol. Technology.

An ex over dinner, when I told him about my project, asked if we had photos together. I quickly reminded him he never wanted to take photos together. He said he has gotten more lax about that. I don’t care.

With so many relatives dying both his family and my own, he came to the realization that If there were a photo reel or slide show: He wouldn’t have any or at least not many. (btw he had a good chuckle at his own self-realization)

Whereas~ I know I will have one. and I hope it’s weird, moving, funny, and full of cringe (as long as I look cute). BC I know there are derpy photos of me existing in this universe.

Back to the contents of this open shoe box:

Lots were from HS. College. Trips to the Philippines. When I was in Korea.

You know, when people went to walmart and paid to print photos lol.

I tossed out duplicates, unreasonably blurry photos, photos of people I didn’t remember, photos of people I didn’t care to remember.

I will reorganize them.

I sent photos of photos to friends on facebook lol

We had no idea of a when or where for most of the photos.

Nostalgia.

I feel we look the same lol

Definitely cracked a smile and warmed some hearts.

scanning photos is also pretty tedious. So I will figure out what exactly I want to do with my photos.

Luckily all photos of me being a baby or my childhood fit into a REALLY small container. I KNOW I have less than 100 childhood photos. Maybe I have less than 50. (It’s probably more like 20.)

But let’s not get into how salty I am about that lololol

So as for all the other ones, It should be easier for me to figure out what to keep, toss or transfer. BC I know I am keeping all my childhood photos. I have so few.

Logically: I should toss photos of people I have no contact with anymore, or at least weren’t/aren’t close with.

Photos of Barbie and the handful of Filipino friends I will keep, it’s cute to see us as kids.

Then there were another few envelopes that were next to the box. The goal is to consolidate into a small box: Loose photos that aren’t already in albums and organize them by year and event/landmark. Then empty as many albums as possible and send those to the sale pile.

An uncle passed away xmas eve, and a cousin sent a fb message regarding funeral services today. I woke up to it (They are in the Philippines).

During this photo scourge, I stumbled upon photos of this uncle, or at least I am pretty sure it’s this uncle– I only really met him once or twice for a few weeks at a time.

I made sure to transfer those to Mom.

I don’t have deep attachment to my relatives only because I don’t know them well, but if I remember him right- he was always very kind. And a classically handsome man.

I care about my relatives obviously, but it’s a different feeling when you don’t have that bond.

Mom flew to the Philippines often when I was younger. I only went on two trips. One at 7ish and the other at 18. Mom flew when there were major funerals.

Backstory: Both mom and dad are one of seven kids. They are also some of the youngest. I am the youngest of the first cousins on both sides of my family. Many relatives have passed. Many I never knew or met. Or only shortly knew or met.

I am pretty sure she feels like she should be there. But dad is sick, and she isn’t doing too hot right now either.

These memories are best in mom’s care.

They are likely much more meaningful.

There are photos of her childhood home, photos with her sister, that uncle, my niece in my pass it downs, the cousin who sent the fb message. (the me 10+ years ago took lots of photos, and usually was good about capturing important moments)

Now with that relative’s passing, it’s timely. I shouldn’t hold onto mementos that have more meaning in someone else’s possession.

Shoukoku no Altair Liveblogging (Chapter 7)

In which we (presumably) find out what ‘Oasis’, which Shara claimed she and Mahmut were from when they were disguised as Araba, is all about.

But this picture is nice. Lots of light, no dark/depressing/ominous shadows like we had last chapter. Well, this is a new beginning for our protagonist, after all.

Chapter 7: The Town of Oasis

Before seeing that, however, we are treated to this:

Love the detailing on the buildings. Seems like a murder just took place on the next few panels, though, which is not so nice and uplifting (unlike the title page).

They seem to have left some words carved into a wall, which I cannot make heads or tails of. A killing with a message, what a great way to start off our new journey.

Mahmut’s head gets in the way of screencapping the whole thing, but this bazaar is wonderful.

So is Mahmut.

Busy bartering with a merchant. Apparently he’s signing the numbers 25 the Japanese way, which is an interesting tidbit I never knew before. I know they start with all 5 fingers up, then lower a finger (starting with the thumb) for each number they count off, but my knowledge of that ends at the number 10 lol.

Let’s see if he’s successful.

Is that a “not amused” face? I’m trying to figure out all his expressions as I go.

Because Mahmut’s head is once again invading the top panel.

But wait! I forgot to gush over the fine china! Owning a few (far less expensive) ones myself, I can say the designs a spot-on. One even has a phoenix (most likely), the other a dragon and clouds.

A-adorable. Nice mule, too. It even has a shank chain over its nose. 

Heey, it’s Shara again! Looking good, and haha her scolding him for sticking his nose in other people’s business. Seems that the mule is actually theirs. Wonder where they’re off to.

He keeps getting yanked around this chapter. So, Shara at least seems to work in Oasis, and Mahmut is aimlessly traveling.

lol knew this was going to happen. Once again, I appreciate how all the background characters little a little different from one another.

Shara has the best expressions aside from Mahmut. omg

Do you have no sense of self-preservation?? I mean, I understand why he’s doing so. It’s nice that he’s owning up to his failings and not willing to let them believe something false (the vizers being jealous, because they are anything but) but um. This isn’t a good place to do this...?

What did I say? Her expressions are absolute gold. She is so done with him getting himself into trouble (within the span of a few minutes, too). Btw, you guys forgot the mule.

T-that soulless look in her eyes. Mahmut, stop stressing her out so much. Also, what are those flat star shaped objects he’s holding? I saw them on the mule’s pack earlier, too.

Absolutely brutal. I love it. Her outfit for this chapter adds to the effect, too.

I love the amount of detail on this tiny square (of cloth? is it like a flyer?)

Everyone has pointy ears in this manga.

I love the waves and curls of all the women’s hair, too. The lines flow so smoothly in this art style. And, of course, the intricate pieces of jewelry and even the pipe are lovely.

And I almost forgot about the murder that took place on the first page of the chapter, haha. Whoops.

Why is Koran so obsessed with wanting the playwright to see it?

Even the drinking cups are so detailed! The drinking cups!

Lighten up, Mahmut. You’re on ‘vacation’ after all.

I’m guessing this play has some relevance here. I also can’t tell what Mahmut is thinking here. It looks like he may be impressed, if not for the slightly ominous story overlaying the panels he shows up in.

Well, whatever the case, Shara looks great.

I don’t know much about composition and art, but the expanse of white to the left is striking. This is a 2-pager, leaving quite a lot of space white really makes it feel lonesome and empty to match the part she’s playing.

This expression is slightly...sorrowful? Mournful that he has missed out on all these wonderful things in life in pursuit of his goal. 

I get it now. The panels that show his face and go back to the stage and the crowd, and back again to Mahmut are so well done to show him coming to this sorrowful realization. First he’s stunned, and observes with that wide-eyed expression, then it settles into something much sadder. I hope this moment is animated well.

And I also appreciate the maturity he is displaying here. He’s lucky to have realized it so young.

The darkness encroaches on the town here, but the people and their surroundings (and fireworks, made also by people) are bright enough to be seen through the dead of night. And I noticed that the moon here is full; in past chapters it’s been a crescent.

Aaand here we go, murder times.

So that phrase from the beginning of the chapter is the name of the play, “Thief of the Slums”.

Oh, Mahmut.

You should learn to keep your mouth shut about that. Looks like he has fangirls and fanboys.

Also, I dunno if I’d want to get near a guy with a giant eagle sitting on his shoulder. Just saying.

Ooh, things are heating up. Mahmut, are you playing detective this time around?

This chapter was definitely a breather chapter (with a little intrigue in the background). Kind of need it, the story has been quite fast paced and high stakes since the beginning. I like that there are still plenty of things going on, such as Mahmut realizing all that he gave up in aiming to become pasha as fast as possible, and the start of a good old murder mystery.
