saw an old 2017 post blaming england for davie not getting to see the flowers again before his death. besides that being just a little silly...
...i guarantee you that davie never thought about those flowers again.
america is the only one who brought them to his funeral. (there's no other blue flowers. davie's family didn't find them to have specific sentimental value, evidently.)
Tumblr media
america repeatedly brought them up throughout his lifetime, and davie was never interested.
Tumblr media
i think that was the point! it was a beautiful/fleeting moment of a human's childhood that was unnaturally elongated through america's weird semi-immortal existence... and it started to rot!
america's perception of time is so strange that he searched for those flowers in the field for over a decade before he finally gave up. at that point, why would davie remember the face of a child he met for a few hours, once, many years ago (against all logic that the child should have aged by now?)
this was america's first experience with/true acknowledgement of his immortality and inhumanity. it's SUPPOSED to be lonely and isolated and unnervingly quiet. we get the feeling through various colony!america comics that while america adored england, he left america alone a lot...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so eventually america started seeking companionship from his citizens... other kids "his age." they look like him, don't they? (<- creature who is unaware of his nature as a human facsimile)
america is easily distracted, and he's also a lonesome, skittish kid who prefers the wilderness.
Tumblr media
as it's been said before... it's not impossible this is america's first real interaction with a human. it's not impossible he's simply failed to notice up until now that humans come and go pretty quickly. evidently, england didn't explain to america that getting emotionally invested in humans is a very bad idea (unlike the op's claim, this IS something england can be faulted for!) the comic is america running around in confusion and pain for 60 years, give or take.
imo, the davie comic is just a representation of what would become one of my favorite theme's with america's character: a lonely desire to be human beyond his capability. he's so enamored with humans, he's an immortal being who is jealous of the mortal lifestyle. he wants those passionate, short-lived human connections so badly (like 'father and son,' 'husband and wife' etc)! but it's just too painful. it's like watching a movie on 100x speed, you're just bitter you can't experience it how you should.
Tumblr media
there's a big wall between america and the human family there, and i'm pretty sure it's named "davie."

There will be art soon I swear, I'm working on a really complicated background and also being worked like a slave at uni during the week. Anyway here is an outrageous, deranged post mourning what we lost (hopefully in a funny way). You see Hima made a batshit insane, last minute decision to make Roderich and Gilbert cousins in some random character sheet a few years ago, despite probably knowing PruAus was the most popular pairing for both characters involved...We miss you PruAus never forget PruAus 9/11 💔
(Though PruMano is arguably funnier imo)

🔥 unpopular opinion please 🙏
Gosh, I was all like I'll do this it'll be fun and now I'm anxious 👉👈 I'm not good with controversy.
cw mention of incest and ship discourse
I don't really think any of the characters are related except maybe ones that are multiple representing one country (i.e. Romano and Italy representing Italy. Germany and Prussia [since Prussia may be representing East Germany now?]) I can see though how people may think that but I also can see why people don't. Like some consider UkUs incest but others don't while more people just think Franada is. Really what's the main difference between how those 2 ships had interacted with each other? For a long time I really cared about that stuff but now I don't. And if you consider some to be related then wouldn't most of them be related?
This is what popped into my head but I may change or delete this tomorrow since the phrasing might not be the best or I think of another unpopular opinion. This was the only one I could think of at the moment but I know I have others 😂

I am a 'newgen' fan of Hetalia (about 6 months) but the way some of the newgen fandom acts is just terrible. The fandom is so overly sensitive to literally everything. No one has to agree with me on these points, I just wanted to write it out so other people can see my view.
1) Misusing the term 'proship'
Most fans will use this term to refer to ships like UsUk. Now, I don't like UsUk, and I agree that the ship is a little bit weird, but it is in no way a proship. They are not biologically related and they hardly refer to each other as brothers when they are adults. They don't even really treat each other like family as adults. A real 'proship' would be something like Itacest, where they actually are related. But some Hetalia fans are trying to force their own moral compass onto other people. Just because you think that UsUk is bad and immoral doesn't mean that everyone else has to agree with you. If you think it's a proship, fine. But that doesn't mean you should argue with other fans about it. Just block a person if they ship something you don't like, or have an opinion you don't like. There shouldn't be any harassment or bullying just because someone has an opinion. If someone doesn't agree with me on this, you can block me if you want. I understand because not everyone has to agree with me.
2) Getting overoffended over jokes
Yes, some jokes in both the anime and manga were in extremely poor taste. I won't argue with that. But if you feel the need to make a post complaining about the offensive jokes, then you're in the wrong fandom. Hetalia has always been controversial and offensive to an extent. And the fact that people still complain about it is just crazy. Complain about it to your friends. Not to the entire internet. Or don't complain about it at all. You shouldn't be in a fandom that is notoriously controversial if you're going to get upset at small things like this. And the anime is literally called Hetalia: Axis Powers, did they think it was about world peace or something?
3) Getting offended by someone portraying history accurately
I have literally seen people get offended at people portraying Germany or Prussia etc as a Nazi. They canonically were Nazis. They were canonically Wehrmacht officers. Fans have literally harassed other people and told them to leave the fandom for portraying the characters like that. I don't even know how this is serious. The series majorly takes place during World War II, why would these characters not be Nazis? Maybe they don't agree with everything, like all the ideals, but still in Germany, basically everyone was brainwashed into believing in Nazi beliefs, at least to an extent. Maybe Germany and Prussia didn't believe in it fully, but they would have been influenced at least a little bit. Also, both Germany and Prussia wear an iron cross, which is a Nazi symbol, do people forget that? There are also swastikas shown in the manga. It seems like people are just trying to erase the fact they were literally bad people with bad beliefs. Yes, they have changed, but you can't just ignore this fact.
4) People are wat too influenced by the fandom instead of the actual source content
This goes a long with all of my points before. Do people even watch the anime or read the manga? Why are people getting so offended by things that have been obvious since the beginning? A lot of the fandom tries to ignore some of the 'offensive' stuff, which makes some people forget that the series isn't all happiness and rainbows. It's not perfect. There are bad parts to it. It's ok to like and enjoy a fandom that is a little bit offensive.
5) Shipping
Fans will literally get mad at you if you don't ship only GerIta, FrUk, and/or AmePan. They always have something to complain about and are rude to people because of their ships. I ship basically everything that is legal. But people are so passive aggressive when you say that. I've seen videos of people making edits of rarepairs they like and people will comment 'I don't ship this, but it's cute'... You don't need to comment that you don't ship it. It sounds backhanded. Just say you like the edit and move on. People are also so aggressive toward RusAme shippers. A popular ship. It's okay if you don't like it, but why are you complaining about it in the comments of a sweet edit? Just ignore or block. This applies to characters too. I'll make a video saying I like a character and I'll get comments saying 'I am (character)'s number one hater'.. Okay? I don't care. Keep that to yourself. You don't have to like the characters I like, but why are you commenting it like you're better than me because you don't like them? I will never understand this. People could make beautiful fanart of a ship they like and people will hate in the comments, especially UsUk. I don't like UsUk, but some of the fanart is actually amazing. Why can't people appreciate that?
I'm not sure if all of this is clear or not, but this is just how I feel about the fandom now. I actually hate interacting with people in the fandom because so so so many people act like this... No one has to agree with me because I wouldn't force my opinions onto someone else if they don't like it.
Anyway thanks to anyone who actually read this 😇☝

Broke: Turkey is 4000 years old and existed in the form of the Turkic Khaganate
Woke: Turkey is, at oldest, the Ottoman Empire because that was when the identity of the Turkish nation, culture, and people became set in stone
Bespoke: Turkey was a tiny pipsqueak running around for a bit as one of the many Turkic tribes that migrated west before eventually inheriting the power of Seljuk and becoming the Ottoman Empire, so he is old, but he doesn't stretch as far back as the Turkic Khaganate since that's the origin of all Turkic nations and making Turkey the single sole representative of the Khaganate ignores the other Turkic identities and groups that developed from the Khaganate as well. The Turkic Khaganate also does not completely represent the ethnic makeup of Turkish people nowadays, as well as the ethnic makeup of other groups like Tatars and Kazakhs due to interactions with Persia, Mongols, and other Europeans. The reason why Turkey's perceived to be old is most likely his "old man fit" which is really just how any Turkish dude in Turkey dresses

Hellloooo!! Apologize greatly if you’re busy, but I was wondering about some of the more basic ships for the shipping bingo out of curiosity, such as;
FrUk GerIta RusAme
etc! I have my own personal opinions on these ships, but I’m curious about yours!
OH HONEY LET'S GO!
Tumblr media
Starting off strong with FrUk! This one and PruHun were my two biggest OTPs back in the fandom's heyday. And FrUk is actually the pairing that I think helped me get over a lot of my internalized homophobia growing up. There's such a strong, intense, touching, volatile, and overall complicated history between these two. So much so that I can't bring myself to fully analyze all of it. There's just so much.
I think the fanart is a large part of what got me to ship these two because a lot of it is quite beautiful. But it's also one of those pairings where there's just so much history there between them, not just as countries but also as characters. These two have been through a lot together, and it gives me the feeling that they may know one another better than anyone else.
Also, I usually hate the bickering married couple trope, but the FACE Family content made it work for me lol!
Tumblr media
Ah yes, the BIG one! GerIta is probably one of, if not the OG Hetalia ship. And for good reason, too. Italy, Germany, and Japan are more or less the main characters, with the relationship between Italy and Germany given the most attention and development.
The biggest reason I ship this pairing, and I don't think I'm alone in this, stems from the theory of Germany and HRE somehow being the same person. Whether it be amnesia or the same-body-two-minds theory, I love all of the different storytelling avenues it opens up.
I adore the sheer drama and tragedy of a story where HRE supposedly dies or goes missing, prompting Italy to endlessly mourn his first love. Only to meet Germany many years later, where the two of them have this feeling deep in their bones that they know each other. Italy may be able to connect the dots that Germany is HRE, but it's been so long... How can he be sure? Perhaps it's even been so long that he forgot certain details about HRE, making it even more painful, and difficult, to decipher what's going on.
And as for Germany, what is going through his mind when he swears he's seen this cute face somewhere before? He's pretty sure he hasn't met Italy face-to-face before, but something about this fool he found in a box of tomatoes abandoned in the woods feels so familiar, and it's driving him up the wall.
At the end, you could have a beautiful reunion, where the two of them realize who the other is. Germany gets to a point where he remembers his past, and---after having a moment of gay panic and realizing that the cute girl in the green dress back then was actually a boy---realizes just how much he loves Italy. And so, the two of them live happily ever after.
OR...
You could have an ending where Germany discovers the truth but considers himself and HRE to be two completely different people. Germany is no longer the boy Italy fell in love with all those years ago. What could make this even more tragic is if Germany loves Italy but wonders if Italy truly loves him or who he was (that being him or HRE).
Or if Italy loves Germany, but the latter insists that, because he's no longer that same person, Italy is wasting his time. That perhaps Italy is projecting his love of HRE onto Germany as a way of coping.
Or perhaps Germany does love Italy, and while Italy does feel some level of affection for Germany, he cannot bring himself to fully love him. Because for Italy, his heart still lies with HRE, and he and Germany might as well be two completely different people.
And I'm not even touching on the potential drama this would stir up between Germany and Prussia, as this would undoubtedly mean that Prussia hid the truth from him for literal centuries! Heck, I'd even throw Hungary, Austria, and France in on the secret as well!
Overall, GerIta has the potential to be a cute and fun "opposites attract" love story while ALSO being one of the most gut-wrenching, heartbreaking tragedies you've ever read. And the way it all ends is completely up to you.
I've actually been working on a story somewhat based off of this theory because the ideas that stem from it are too good to pass up!
Tumblr media
Lastly, RusAme. First off, this is yet another America pairing that falls victim to my aroace headcanon. With that said, I can understand why some people ship it. Particularly because of this reblog post made by @olympeline where they explained the ships appeal to me. Some other's added on as well with some pretty good insights if you wanna give it a look.
Given my love for opposites attract, you'd think this ship would be right up my alley. I mean, how can you possibly get more opposite than the United States of America and Russia? For me, it's that I just can't see them getting along. Which I know is rich coming from me, seeing as I ship FrUk so heavily, but at least France and England have some friendly moments in the series. I can't seem to recall any moments like that between America and Russia.
However, I love the idea of Russia and America being forced to work together on something. I feel like that would be comedy gold lol!
But overall, it's my aroace America headcanon doing most of the work here.

considering that antonio is canonically "the angry drunk" i wonder if roderich had to pick him up at least a few times bc he's one of few people who can actually manage him without the risk of being hit with a chair or something
(it still really depends tho. antonio can either melt like a butter at the sight of roderich OR immediately try to choke him. there's no in-between)
