From Scratch thoughts
First off, why the hell didn’t I know this shit was that sad. I cried almost every episode and for those last few it was nonstop. My eyes are puffy.
Anyway. Spoilers I guess even though it’s been out a while now.
Lino and Amy
Why were they so cute? Like. Lino is adorable. He was good to her and her to him (minus the giancarlo situation). I mean that proposal.
Lino is comparable to Jack Pearson (iykyk). Yes. I said that. And I stand by it too.
Amy is stronger than me cause I would’ve been like
Actually, I was like that and I was just a spectator.
I knew (from years of watching tv) that the cancer was gonna come back and it would be the end for him but it still got me.
Idalia
She was wonderful. Seeing her understand what was happening, worrying about her mom and then her own grief coming out in Sicily.
Zora
The goat, the queen. I loved her so much
I was glad when she told Amy off cause I think it was something they both needed. Amy was being selfish and needed to hear that to be reminded that it wasn’t all about her. Zora needed to get it off her chest that she felt unseen and that nobody was looking out for her.
Also, she was so pissed she wasn’t talking to her sister but the minute she saw the restaurant was closed she didn’t call, she went straight over to their place to make sure they were okay.
I’m glad she found Zen, he was someone who saw how hard she loved and how she took care of everyone else and then decided he was gonna take care of her.
But why did they have to treat her like the red headed stepchild? I swear every time something good happened to her, something Amy did it was a part of overshadowed it. I didn’t like it.
She’s gonna be an awesome mom.
LMAO When she was holding Amy while she fell apart and said “I don’t want you to get mad but have you bathed? Cause you stink.”
Also, the fact that she was keeping her promise to Lino by helping Amy put the pieces back together? Sobs. Intense sobs.
I loved every interaction she had with Lino. It was so pure and lovely to see. That was her brother and you couldn’t tell her otherwise. He got on her nerves but their friendship and bond was beautiful.
I wish I had seen a little more of Ken. Like in regards to Amy. I wish I could’ve seen him be there for her as she had a moment where she broke or something. I would’ve liked to have seen that they had a bind as much as Zora and Lino did.
Amy’s parents
At the beginning all of them got on my nerves. Then I came around. Gotta take the good with the bad
They ended up being so supportive and I loved to see it in a black family on screen.
I loved that the three of them ended up walking Amy down the aisle.
I loved that Lynn (eventually) acknowledged that Maxine was a mother to Zora and Amy. That during the scene where idalia came home she told her “I was only saying I was overwhelmed and didn’t know what the hell I was doing, not that you don’t know what you’re talking about.”
I love that Maxine basically said the entire series “imma keep it cute and classy cause you the mama but don’t get it twisted bitch, I raised those girls”. As she should have, cause we don’t diminish the role of found family over here. Found parents included.
Lino’s parents
I will always give Giacomo credit for trying in the end, but I will never forget what he said and did to Lino before that.
At first glance I didn’t like Filomena. Cause no man was gonna tell me I couldn’t go to my son’s wedding. But the more I watched the more I understood her. It was simply what she knew cause that’s how she was raised. We were raised completely differently. Which means we see the world completely differently.
Do I agree with her actions? No, but I can empathize with her.
I think that was the friction between her and Amy. Amy was raised to be assertive and definitely less conservative. I think Filomena had a hard time with Amy’s openness.
I was glad to see in the end she was able to connect with her and give her that land. I think it meant a lot to Filomena that her son’s family still had connections to his heritage and his home.
Miscellaneous
Wish we had seen Lino’s sister a little more and saw their relationship.
Y’all. When Idalia went to see him for the last time, I was done for.
TONINO AND THE FUCKING GOAT HAD ME SEEING BLURRY CAUSE THE TEARS WERE ROLLING
Just realized that Lino always wanted to go back to Sicily to show his wife and daughter and never got the chance to do it while he was alive.
THE WAY HE WAITED FOR HER TO WAKE UP BEING REMINISCENT OF THE NIGHT THEY GOT TOGETHER
In conclusion, Netflix,

TPOFATGIF LORE: What Everyone Looks Like
It Occured to me that
1. I don't actually describe what anyone in the fic looks like because I was sort of assuming everyone had seen/read some of the source material
2. I have a lot of OCs. Who I didn't describe either.
Me Smort.
Anyway, coming out of a verys tressful fortnight (Herschel had pneumonia and had to be on antibiotics/house rest so I pretty much didn't sleep but he is fine now), and like in Drawing, it's important to do warm-up exercises, so:
Yugi Moto:
Near the front of the classroom sat Yugi Moto, who was as close as someone could become to being one of those brightly colored plush animals you win at the carnival while still being human. He was technically five feet tall but at least six inches of that was a red-tinted black and splash of blonde hair whose vertical nature had stumped over a dozen barbers so far. His shoes, untied, dangled a few inches from the floor because the high school desk was sized for someone who had spent their puberty getting tall instead of getting shoved into lockers. Two notebooks open on his desk- one with paltry notes on the Teapot Dome Scandal they were supposed to be studying, the other, much more detailed containing notes about crad draw probablility curves and drawings of wizards. If he was going to study for the test, he'd recall more about the lecture by lookng at the second. The teacher called on him, and he looked up at her with a politely guiless expression that could easily be mistaken for a Customer Service Smile (TM), but something about the sustained eye contact and faint tilt of his head put more observant people in mind of something vaugely... carnivorous.
More Peeps under the Cut:
Joey Wheeler
Imagine if, in the Air Bud movies, the school had insisted that if the dog wanted to be a student athlete, that he be a student as well as an athlete, and attend classes. Imagine a Golden Retriver, seated awkwardly in one of those wretched plastic desk-chair combos, staring at a board of chemical formulas and trying, trying so hard in the desperate and earnest way that all working dogs try, to understand even a bit of what was happening, and you will have something very close to what it was like to sit next to Joey Wheeler. Right down to the blonde hair that got in your jacket and total inability to sit in a chair like a Normal Human. He consistently had one gangly leg thrown over the desk or propped up on his backpack, the other folded in an origami-like position under him. He counteracts his lack of academic comprehension with a soical genius any confidence man would murder to have. His smile is genuine and charming and sweet enough that you'll explain the pH scale slowly and with appropriately small words for him. He has never forgotten a single birthday of anyone he's ever met and is close to exceding the limit of possible contacts in his phone, so should the man ever end up in real trouble he absolutely knows who to call and how to get them to come fix this.
Téa Gardner:
Ballerinas are frequently described as birds in popular culture- graceful swans, delicate hummingbirds, beautiful as doves, and for some reason, docile and submissive, which is weird because all of those birds can and will beat the tar out of things eight and ten times thier size for merely looking at them funny. Téa also, was a ballerina that greatly resemebled a bird, and that bird was a cassowary. She had the magnificent calves and quads of a valkyrie, the eye of the Tiger and the the compettitive instincts of a stallion. All this, dressed in the most pastels-and-pinks-jellyroll-glitterpen-Bows- ribbons-and-ruffles-sixteen-layers-of-Bracelets-and-bangles-unapologetic-teenage-girlhood possible. She'll kick you apart and write about it with a pink glitter pen in her diary.
Tristan Taylor:
If you were to draw a Triange of Modern Former-Boy Adventuers with Fred Jones (earnest hubris and weirdly comprehensive engineering knowledge), Geralt of Rivia (Muscles, love of horses) and Tintin (Inventive hair, willingess to Shoot A Bitch) on each of the points, Tristan Taylor would be at the exact center. In any other show he'd be the protagonist, with his classically handsome good looks and ability to give clear directions in an emergency, but instead he lives in a world dictated by the whims of What's Funny rather than any kind of predictable physics and thus it is his destiny to cling to reality with white knuckles and occasionally hit it with a tire iron until it stops trying to steal people's souls or whatever bullshit is happening this week.
Bakura
Bakura looks like firstly, someone who gets into strange bargains with the fair folk, secondly, that he absolutely did at some point, thirdly, that the rule of the exchange was that he could have whatever it was but he would forever be described by a single adjective, and finally, that he is a little shit bastard and grabbed the word "ambiguity" from the fairy and ran off with it, and whatever the bonus prize was, cackling into the night. Is he a world-weary teenager or a babyfaced young man? Is he a He at all? Showing up to school in the boys uniform was very much a concious choice on his part- nobody would have doubted a thing if he'd shown up in a skirt instead. Is he holding onto that cursed artifact because he can't let anyone else deal with it in good conscience, or has he become friends with the thing inside? Are those fangs? Do you really want to know for sure?
Seto Kaiba
Seto Kaiba is a Theater Kid that was taken from his native habitat and raised in captivity, like how sometimes people think that it's fine to keep a tiger like a housecat. This is terrible for all parties involved- the tiger never gets proper nutirtion or enrichment activities and grows up gangly and full of nerves until it eventually turns on it's keeper and the headlines run on about the totally preventable tragedy, like they had not been featuring the tiger in reality the week before. Seto is all limbs and a glare that belies both contempt and terror, and an ostentatious trenchcoat to provide him cover the cage never did. He's out of the cage now but still all ribs and knobby joints and snarls and stalks where he doesn't knw how to smile or stroll. He'll grow into it, And that's a Threat.

New Year’s Update
On New Year's 2015-2016, I made a resolution which I have re-made every year since: to

Năm 2017, Abdul-Mateen xuất hiện trong bộ phim truyền hình The Vanishing of Sidney Hall của Shawn Christensen.

[caption id="attachment_1419" align="alignnone" width="1662"] Yahya Abdul[/caption]
[caption id="attachment_1417" align="alignnone" width="800"] Bộ phim US - 2019[/caption]

13. The 1985 Season ---
With no shift to the fall, ownership groups in Michigan, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Miami (Washington) did not opt to relocate their franchises for 1985 and the Championship game remained scheduled for the Silverdome.
With no more talk of a move to the fall, the perception of the league improved dramatically. Season ticket sales bounced back dramatically.
Even with the departure of two teams (San Antonio and Chicago) and the early perception of Los Angeles being a weaker team, the 1985 season was significantly stronger than anyone expected, especially at the gate, as the fall shadow over franchises like Denver and Houston did not exist in this universe.
Usher would be pleased with the way Haphadzy’s reallocation efforts helped parity in the league. All teams would finish with at least 6 wins, a good total for franchise survival.
The return of J. Walter Duncan relaxed the league leadership. With three of the four ridiculously rich owners (Taubman, Duncan, Trump, and DeBartalo) in the league favoring calmly waiting it out in the spring, the influence of Einhorn and Trump fades as the season progresses.
Team by team breakdowns
With Anthony Carter back healthy, the Michigan Panthers roar back to form tying the Stars for the best record in the league and edging them out for the division title.
With no ridiculous commute times and the championship attendance bump in this reality, the 1985 Stars look more like the Stars in this alternate universe with only a brutal conference pulling their record back down to the pack.
With Steve Young and Herschel Walker, Trump fully expected to win his division, but Young struggled with a non-threatening receiving corps and went down with an injury late.
The contraction reinforced Pittsburgh Maulers hung around every week, but the division was just too tough for them. Rozier and Carano looked significantly better in year two, but the team’s conservative play calling was blamed.
Birmingham was dramatically improved and ran away with their division, but in this alternate reality Michigan & Philadelphia's players did not have weird travel hardships and new teammates to adjust to, so Birmingham again fell short of the elite level.
In our reality, a late-season collapse cost the bandits a playoff spot in Bassett's last year. In this reality, a loaded division would knock the Generals out of the playoffs instead. Bandits minority owner Donald Dizney would purchase the team late in the 1985 season.
Lindy Infante was never able to consistently win as a head coach. The unfortunate injury to quarterback Brian Sipe would end up costing him his job. Despite the signing of very highly regarded San Diego Chargers backup quarterback Ed Luther and a strong season by former Heisman Trophy winner RB Archie Griffin and RB Kevin Mack, the Bulls just cannot win enough games.
Mike Hohensee would open the season as the team’s starter as Miami went hard after Bernie Kosar. The team would eventually lose out on the Miami star when Kosar’s hometown Cleveland Browns staked a claim. Hohensee would be a very solid, but unspectacular starter. Schenellenberger would turn Miami into a live underdog some weeks, but the defense although quite deep, seemed to be missing a player or two. Rookie Willie Broughton would have a good year at DE, but that would not be enough. Joey Walters, Eddie Brown, and Curtis Bledsoe would be in the thousand yard club at season's end.
Despite scoring a ton of points, Houston would barely hold off Oklahoma for the division title due to a very forgettable record in division. The loss of key players QB Jim Kelly and WR Ricky Sanders (to Injury) and RB Todd Fowler would hurt the team.
In the USFL’s first season, Chuck Fairbanks grossly underestimated the quality of the other coaches in the league. In his second go around, he does not. Ernest Anderson has a breakout year at RB with 1300 yards, helping keep the load off Doug Williams. No longer overburdened and gifted with a full range of targets with proven possession receiver Kris Haines joining holdovers deep threat WR Al Williams and TE Ron Wheeler, Williams does enough to get Oklahoma into the playoffs just ahead of Memphis. The Outlaws shutdown “Gunslinger Defense” under Jim Bates is the story of the season, holding Jim Kelly to a total of 40 points in their two regular season matchups.
Pepper Rodgers took it up a notch in 1985 but there were still too many teams that were just better than the Showboats. Still no one wanted to face the Minister of Defense and this game team in the playoffs. Rodgers benching of dynamic young QB Walter Lewis for veteran Mike Kelley is somewhat controversial with the fans.
With Marcus Dupree not blowing out his knee on Portland's lousy turf as he did in our reality, New Orleans offered the League's most devastating one-two punch on the ground. Dupree’s combination of size and speed reminded many of Hershel Walker, but many felt Dupree had a lot more flexibility and RB skills and might be better down the road as his game matured. Reggie Collier was the same unpolished, often injured QB despite the coaching of QB whisperer Dick Coury. Still...Collier and Dupree sold a lot of season tickets. Sadly the wins weren’t there and Coury was let go at season’s end. To try to solve his QB problem, Carnizario would pursue Collier’s collegiate coach, Bobby Collins.
Alan Risher struggled a bit in his return as Arizona's new starting quarterback. It was clear there were passes old QB Greg Landry could make that Risher struggled with a bit. Risher played better in a scheme that incorporated his mobility than he did in the Allen offense. The loss of Tim Spencer is noticeable, despite very strong seasons from HB Mack Boatner and FB Kevin Long. The fans don't care. They embrace the Wranglers. The return of Risher to the starting lineup and Keel to the team allows George Allen's team to recover fans of the Year 1 Wranglers. The team also sees an attendance bounce from the run to the championship game the previous year.
Doug Flutie takes over the starting role in Denver by mid-season and Denver streaks to the playoffs squeezing by Oakland on the season’s last day. Denver fans don't like how their legacy Bronco guys are getting cycled out, but with no head-to-head competition with the Broncos they're willing to buy into Mouse Davis's success.
Fred Besana, Eric Jordan, Tim Newton, Gordon Banks and Charlie Sumner have a very good season with the offense reaching new heights, but the team falls short of the playoffs due to some late injuries.
The departure of Steve Young and the star offensive linemen is oddly a non-factor. Neuhesiel is a competent replacement and the new offensive line plays well. Season ticket sales go up with the arrival of the UCLA vets TE Tim Wrightman and QB Rick Neuheisel and the move to Anaheim Stadium. The arrow is generally pointing upwards on what the LA media is now calling “The Anaheim Express”. The Tathams are not thrilled with John Hadl though as the Los Angeles offense is more methodical and solid then dangerous, plus second-year quarterback Rick Neuheisel throws a few too many interceptions. The story of this team is it’s dominant young defensive line that guts any team with offensive line issues.
Playoffs???!!!!...
Houston continued to struggle in the post season against ball control teams with good defenses.
Oklahoma held Doug Flutie below 28 for the first game in 2 months.
Philadelphia rallied late to beat Birmingham.
Michigan got a surprisingly tough game from an inspired Tampa Bay squad.
The Philadelphia/Michigan game was a game for the ages with a late no-call at home allowing the home town Panthers to put the game away in front of 65,712 fans. There was a lot of controversy in league offices before and after the game as Usher got killed for insisting the league adopt a western and eastern conference that has the Stars and Panthers in the same conference. Tad Taube sent a letter railing on the commissioner for “costing the league the ideal championship game from a rating perspective”. He also went on to attack the league for “Handing the western conference to Duncan”, voicing what many of the less successful teams were thinking....that Oklahoma was made too competitive by the league’s allocations.
Oklahoma’s “Gunslinger Defense” throttled Alan Risher, sacking him 8 times and intercepting him a season high 3 times as Oklahoma defeated the defending Western Conference Champions to advance to the title game.
With minimal TV ratings expected with small market Oklahoma in the final and a perception that Michigan would run away with the title game, the story of the game may have been the story before the game.
Michigan owner Al Taubman followed through with his promise to slash the price of remaining tickets for the championship game. In front of a very noisy capacity crowd of 80,638, the Panthers dominated early, with the fan noise causing several Outlaw offsides and delay of game penalties. Michigan took an 18 point lead into halftime as the Panthers held the Outlaws to 70 total yards in the first half.
But the game wasn’t over. Chuck Fairbanks made some adjustments at the half and Oklahoma got their running game going a little at the start of the second half.
That opened up the deep passing game and Doug Williams came alive at the start of the fourth quarter. With three minutes to go Williams had the Outlaws down by only three points but that was as close as they could get.
Michigan RB John Williams was the game’s MVP with 40 rushes for 129 yards and 2 TDs.
