#Hero/partner having to stop dialga from trying to kill him

It’s 2am I can’t sleep, so here’s the reasoning behind the names I gave the characters because I’ve been known to spend HOURS trying to find the perfect name for a character.

Saki (Treecko, hero)- The name Saki comes from two Japanese words, Sa which means blossom and Ki which means hope. I thought it was a fitting name. Also, you might have noticed from the one time I drew her human form, but Saki is supposed to be Japanese.

Pallas (Eevee, partner)- Pallas means wisdom, and in Greek Mythology Pallas was the name of Athena’s best friend who she accidentally killed during a spear contest. The partner in EoS is probably the smartest out of all the partners, and explains many things to the player (Mystery Dungeons, the Time Gears, Treasure Town, etc.)

Andy (Bidoof)- Andy is the shortened form of Andrew which means manly. However I didn’t give this name to Bidoof because of the meaning, but instead association. I’ve grown to really love the name Andy (it’s my favorite male name) because I find that most fictional characters with the name to be adorable and really endearing. (Andy from Fantasy Life is a big reason as to why.) So I figured I’d give it to Bidoof.

Maximus (Wigglytuff)- Maximus means greatest. I thought it would be a good name because the name can be shortened to reflect the two sides of Wigglytuff. Max- a shorter, more childlike name (When I hear the name I tend to think of the show “Max and Ruby) to associate with Wigglytuff’s friendly carefree side. While Maximus stands for his more serious and “dangerous” side hence the longer and more intimidating name.

Antonio (Chatot)- Finding the meaning for this was a bit harder, but the most I saw for the meaning is priceless. And a synonym for that word is invaluable. Which is fitting considering that Wigglytuff calls him his “invaluable partner” in Brine Cave. Though funnily enough, that was just a coincidence. Since Chatot’s my favorite character I had some specific requirements for his name. The first was that I wanted it to be musical related. The design of Chatot is heavily based off of music (The quarternote head and metronome tail for example) and even during the game Chatot tends to sing out his words. The second was that I wanted a name I could get a nickname out of. Because the idea of Wigglytuff giving Chatot a nickname was too cute to pass up. I chose Antonio for Antonio Vivaldi, who was a composer. (I played one of his violin solos for a contest once) and for a nickname I came up with Annie.

Clytia (Sunflora)- Clytia means renowned, famous, splendid, and excellent. Okay, I got the mythology wrong, but oh well. In Greek mythology there was a nymph who had that name, and that nymph fell in love with Helios. However he left her for someone else. Angered, she killed that other girl but didn’t gain back Helios’ love. Filled with dispair she sat unclothed without eating or drinking and on the ninth day was turned into a flower called the heliotrope. However, when I read the myth it just said she was so in love with Helios that the gods took pity and turned her into a sunflower. Bit of a mistake on my part.

Louis (Loudred)- Louis means renowned warrior. I think I really was just lazy with this one.

Joey (Corphish)- Joey means he/god may add, which is pretty ironic considering Corphish doesn’t really... do anything. Honestly if you got rid of him there would be no consequences. Anyway, when you go on deviant art and look up Corphish gijinka some of the top results have Corphish with a blue headband wrapped around his forehead. And that headband plus the orange hair reminded me of Joey Richter’s version of Ron Weasley. So now whenever I think of Corphish I think of Joey Richter. (Fun fact! My design of Corphish is actually based off of Joey Richter as well.

Adonis (Croagunk)- Adonis means lord. Now that I think of it there really was no reason for me to give him this name, though if you wanna have a weird time you can look up some information about the Adonis from Greek Mythology! Man... I really need to brush up on my stuff.

Terence (Dugtrio)- Apparently this name has no meaning. It just reminded me of the word “terrain” so that’s why I chose it.

Noah (Diglett)- Noah means rest/comfort. In the Bible Noah and his family were spared from the flood by God. I chose it because of Digtrio’s obsession with the ocean.

Suzi (Chimecho)- Suzi means lily or rose. Originally the name I chose for Chimecho was Suzuki which means bell tree. But when I found it they said it just meant bell... and that it was a first name. And when I realized my information was wrong I was already fond of the name so I chose the next closest.

Hemlock (Koffing)- Hemlock is a poisonous plant that can kill you.

Oleander (Zubat)- Oleander is a poisonous plant that can kill you. (He’s called Ollie for short)

Nightshade (Skuntank)- Nightshade is a poisonous plant that can kill you. However this isn’t Skuntank’s real name. He was just jealous that Hemlock and Ollie were named after deadly poison and he wanted in on the fun.

Hector (Grovyle)- Hector means to check or restrain. In Greek mythology Hector was a Trojan prince, who was considered the opposite of Achilles. He’s known as being kind, even telling Helen that the war wasn’t her fault, and that it was just a war over a man’s sense of pride. One of the scenes from The Iliad involving Hector that stick out the most is the scene in which his son sees him in his armor and starts to cry, and doesn’t stop until he takes his helmet off. Hector is also the name of my mom’s cat.

Faye (Celebi)- Faye means fairy, though it could also mean loyalty or belief. I chose this name because Celebi gijinkas tend to look like fairies and I find that adorable. There’s also a character in Fire Emblem that’s in love with the hero. (Though obviously that’s the only thing they have in common.)

Alastor (Dusknoir)- Alastor has many meanings “he who does not forget” avenger, persecutor and tormentor. Ya’ll really didn’t think I’d give Dusknoir a nice name, did you?

Caspian (Lapras)- Named for the Caspian Sea. Also in CS Lewis’ book “The Dawn Treader” Caspian was sailing a ship for whatever reason. I haven’t read or watched it in awhile. But Lapras’ gijinka captains a boat so it fits. Also Caspian’s uncle was kind of a mad king that tried to kill him and I headcanon Lapras as being Dialga’s adopted son. (Which is why he can go to the Hidden Land.)

Kronos (Dialga)- Kronos means to cut. In Greek mythology he was the Titon of Time.

Explorers Grovyle or Celebi!

OH OF COURSE!!!

grovyle: 

First impression: i was 8 so im not sure but i think it was something along the lines of “mean green man >:(” bc yknow 8.

Impression now: that one picture of the samurai holding the cat except im the samurai and the cat is grovyle

Favorite moment: uuuuhhh its a tie between the talk he has with partner on sharpedo bluff and his “when i live, i want to shine” speech his talks are very good.

Idea for a story: just. i feel like this is a common thing but i want a whole thing about him just adjusting to the past and experiencing all this life and nature and not being totally used to it at first. like not entirely about him taking the times gears (thats in there though probably) but just him experiencing the sun. adjusting to mornings and nights. feeling water between his claws and swishing leaves around. feeling insecure in his newfound loneliness but feeling so free and alive. thats what im talking about.

Unpopular opinion: stop drawing him super tall and wise and smart hes canonically a small asshole and that side of him deserves to be recognized, i know dan green may lead you to believe otherwise but no hes small and a dick

Favorite relationship: honestly i cant decide between him and celebi, hero, or partner all of those are very good (my own hcs make his relationship with partner feel more significant though so)

Favorite headcanon: now his speeches are genuine. absolutely. but i think he uses a lot of big words without really knowing what they mean, or just incorrectly. (I E when he says partner is being “nonchalant” during the stockade scene when They Very Clearly Are Not) like he just tries to have a larger vocabulary but sometimes it just doesnt WORK and he’ll say something like “god celebi youre being so egregious right now” when shes like cutting oran berries or something and shes like “??? what the fuck do you mean???” and hes like “i mean you cut them so neatly” and shes like “do you? not know what egregious means?? are you just saying random words??” “idk it just sounds right”

ok i just realized that said favorite hc not random hc in which case its also that he views the hero as an older sibling!

celebi:

First impression: “PINK FAIRY!!!”

Impression now: “PINK FAIRY!!! ALSO ID KILL FOR YOU!!!”

Favorite moment: when she teleports the gang to the passage of time to save them from dialga, and then teleports herself out… also when she brags about how tough she is shes so cute

Idea for a story: i think like. her trying to travel to the past to live a happier life there, but feeling like she has a duty to help the pokemon of dusk forest so she stays there and uses her powers to help them and learning that this is what she wants her role to be and that she doesn’t want to run from the future, she wants to help others survive in it, which also leads to the plan with hero and grovyle or even how she meets them. like just a fic exploring that character arc.

Unpopular opinion: shes adorable not annoying or just grovyle’s love interest shes got her own thing going on, she didnt dislike hero or anything she was very close to them and loved them, she had a big role to play i dont like it when shes kinda downplayed to “grovyle’s love interest” in fanart or fics

Favorite relationship: celebi/grovyle definitely!

Favorite headcanon: she is very close to the renewed dialga of her time! like ofc theres discomfort here and there but they do eventually bond and now the god of time is totally in the future trio’s friend group. another favorite is that she met hero and grovyle by protecting them and giving them shelter! though i have a feeling that thats common.

PRESENT OF THE BLOG / MAIN VERSE STATUS :

Here are the events in chronological order:

✺           A Zekrom egg was dumped on him and after deciding to look after it and managing to convince Reshiram (legendsbehold) that came to take it away to help him instead he’s currently wandering around the world whenever he can and being and being Karma’s caretaker the rest of time.

✺            Being in a changed timeline doesn’t seem to exclude him from trouble and it manifested in the shape of Darkrai kidnapping two of his dearest friends and Zekrom being kidnapped. He’s forced to kill Darkrai to get them back and send Kyurem to stop Reshiram.

✺            A stray Unown ends up in Grovyle’s care after he finds it being weakly carried b y the wind. After taking carrying it back with the rest of the swarm they offer him a wish, to which he answers with: “ I want to be able to protect those I love. “

They end up gifting him with a necklace that looks like a sun stone, infused with energy from both Xerneas and Ho-Oh. It not only helps him keep his previously deteriorating health stable and thus allow him to stay alive until it gets either lost or stolen, but allows him to Mega Evolve into mega sceptile.

✺           Earth and tremors had been wrecking the earth and when Grovyle goes to investigate he discovers the Regis are in control of no other than Darkrai himself, darkness dripping from them.

Along with Celebi, he tracks the dark type down on Regigias mountain and fight both him and Darkrai, which ends with him mega evolving and injuring Darkrai to allow Celebi to escape and call for help, getting trapped in a dark prison with dark matter. His own strength and the Unown amulet help him fight it and he ends up freed by reshiram, the Hero and their partner.

✺           Celebi comes to Grovyle telling him she doesn’t know where Dialga is and she can’t find her. She also tells him a Time Gear is missing… They set off to try to find both the Time Goddess and the Gear. ( Here )

✺           Grovyle is trying to learn to use Z-moves with Karma ( Part one / Part two )

✺           He is currently bonded with Bede the Lugia (ask-the-guardian-of-the-seas). The bond basically consists of: He got a mark (Lugia's wings marked on his back ) which is the physical manifestation of about half of bede’s soul, giving him certain powers he wouldn’t have otherwise. If he didn’t already have the amulet would be immortal just like bede, he should be able to breath underwater to an extent and connection wise, no matter distance bede and him should be able to talk to one another psychically.

TWO HEADCANONS YOU HAVE FOR YOUR MUSE THAT YOU NEVER TOLD ANYONE.

she really really REALLY hates showing any kind of weakness to anyone. this is pretty obvious by how she acts and whatnot, but i don’t think ive ever elaborated on it before... she doesnt like letting other people know how she’s feeling, unless it’s anger. she’s felt weak for most of her life, and she isn’t going to go back to that ever. 

i dont know if ive elaborated on like... deep water/swimming stuff before?? so ill just do that. giratina can’t swim at all, and she’s scared shitless of deep water (i.e. water so deep she cant see the ground under it). during one of the few times she left the hall of origin as a kid, she fell into a river and almost drowned. she ended up with bloodied fingers from trying to grab onto a rock or anything to stop herself from being pulled downstream. drowning is the second most frequent occurrence in her nightmares.

THREE THINGS THAT YOUR MUSE LIKES DOING IN THEIR FREE TIME

she loves to wander. doesnt matter where to, she just loves to go places. sitting around doing nothing is really boring to her, and wandering around sinnoh at least gives her something to do.

talking to spirits!!! this is the one she does the most often. it helps her get her mind off of things. she loves learning things about dead people, like how they died, and what their lives were like and what they did. quelling angry spirits and sending them off to the next stage puts her at peace. she feels like she’s making a difference and actually doing something helpful for the world, even if it’s only for the dead.

fighting?! of course :v she loves to fight people. either with knives, or bare handed. she actively seeks out back alley fights. she seeks out underground fighting tournaments. she loves the rush that she gets. not even regular pokemon battling compares to it.

dialga!! she wont tell them this to their face but she loves her bro a lot >:T and she’ll fight anyone who talks shit about them. gira doesnt know how to react when they care about her?? at least being on good terms with them gives her some hope that things between the trio will go back to how they were. @timescomposer

TWO THINGS YOUR MUSE REGRETS:

she regrets letting her father push her around so much. there really wasn’t much she could do as a kid unless she wanted to get her ass beat more, but still. there’s that regret. she just wishes she had the power to have done something more about it.

getting banished. even if that was completely out of her control. she didn’t do anything wrong. there was nothing she could have done to stop it, besides fight. it was the first time she fought back against her father, and it did surprise him too, but of course it wasn’t enough. getting banished cost her so much time. it cost her her life. she died in the distortion world. she’ll never forgive her father for doing it, but she’ll also never forgive herself for letting it happen.
