Bad First Impressions (Are Ones That Often Stick);
Summary: Why Bruno Madrigal is not on the isle. Encantober: Coffee. Trigger Warnings: Gossip nearly leading to unfair imprisonment, swearing, talk of inhumane concerns, etc.
------------------------------------------------------------
The coffee Julieta had poured for Alma and the visiting rulers remained untouched as the Matriarch listened to the new King and Queen of Auradon talked.
And talked.
And talked.
And talked.
About Auradon.
About how they were rounding up all the villains and major criminals to send to a prison they were building. They didn't call it a prison but that's what it was.
A place where they wouldn't have to think about the villains and the henchmen they sent there. About the violent criminals they booted there. A place they called ‘The Isle of the Lost’, as if it was a place for people to go when they needed to heal and be reintegrated into society and not a prison that they planned to never reopen.
As they talked about how the villains could live their lives there, unsupervised, and how Auradon would be safe once they were all there.
And all the while, King Beast and Queen Belle didn't touch their drinks that her eldest triplet had slaved away to make. No, they just kept talking. Seemingly not realizing (or maybe just not caring) that Alma hadn't said a word to them thus far.
No, they didn't notice or care that Alma wasn't even really taking part of the conversation or take notice of the way that the elderly woman was gripping her mug. Knuckles lightening as she gritted her teeth, somehow managing to keep her face calm and neutral.
All while the diablos in front of her talked about sending not one, not two, but three of her family members there.
Her beautiful, fiery, headstrong Pepa who was finally becoming herself.
Her innocence, little Brunito who was only guilty of being socially awkward, a little odd, and being the reluctant bearer of bad news.
And her miracle. The girl she had never treated as well as she should have. Her youngest nieta. Her Mirabel.
All because of the damned gossip that had escaped the Encanto in the year it took the familia and the village to rebuild the Encanto.
They were here, talking to her about throwing two of her babies and one of her grandbabies into a prison with child abusers, animal abusers, creepers, murderers, and overall hardened criminals because of rumors that they hadn't even bothered to fact check.
They wanted her to lock her now seventeen year old nieta up with men like Jafar and Frollo who shouldn't be allowed out of their homes let alone be let loose on an isle where they could do whatever they wanted. King Beast and Queen Belle wanted her to allow them to throw her Bruno onto the isle where he would stick out like a sore thumb and wanted her to throw her daughter who had a seven year old there with him.
But Alma wasn't going to have it.
No, she wasn't going to hear another word of it.
They weren't taking her family anywhere.
Alma stood up, interrupting whatever the idiotas the tontos in Auradon had elected had been about to say. “Get out.”
“Wha—”
Alma held up her hand. Their time for speaking was done, they had had an hour of it—now it was her turn. “Get out of my house and my Encanto and never return! My village has no villains and I will not allow you to take my familia anywhere.”
Beast, the petulant child he was, tried to argue or to apologize—the Matriarch wasn't sure what but at the moment she couldn't care less—but was once again cut off by Alma. “Casita, escort them out!”
Casita didn't need to be told twice.
------------------------------------------------------------
Several great grandkids later and Alma still couldn’t stand Beast, and likely wouldn’t ever be able to.
If there was one thing you could say about Alma Madrigal, widow of Pedro Madrigal, and Matriarch of the Madrigal Family, it was that she sure knew how to hold a grudge—especially when you messed with her familia.
And, well, if you messed with Alma and her familia, you messed with Casita and the Encanto.

Encantober Day 20: Vision
*trigger warning for pregnancy mentions and brief description*
Voices floated through the kitchen.
“Ay, I can feel her kicking.” Pepa laughed.
What? Bruno didn’t understand what was going on. Usually he tried not to eavesdrop (he said tried; he didn’t always succeed), but he had to know what was going on here. Shifting his position, he was able to peer through the small crack in the wall.
Pepa was in the kitchen with Félix, her hands resting on…her belly? Was she pregnant again? Now Bruno didn’t claim to be an expert in math, but if they were still the same age, and he was pretty sure they were, wouldn’t that be impossible?
“How do you know it’s a girl?” Félix teased, wrapping his arms around Pepa from behind.
“A mother can tell,” Pepa said smugly.
“Well what if it’s a boy?”
Pepa scoffed. “There’s no way the baby is a boy.”
“You know this for sure?”
Pepa glared at him. “I can’t know for sure. Not the way we did with Lola and Milo. But…I have a feeling she’s a girl.”
Félix held up his hands in defeat. “If you say so, mi vida.”
“I do say so.” Pepa bustled around the kitchen, putting away groceries. She must not be very far along, Bruno observed. She’d gotten huge with the other two. In fact, Bruno had actually wondered if she was having twins when she had Camilo. Looking back, he deserved that slap.
His cheek smarted from the memory. As much as it had hurt, at least he was still part of the family then. Almost five years had passed since his…unceremonious departure…and not a day went by that he didn’t miss them.
“I know it might be a bit early to think about this, but do you have any ideas about names?” Félix had caught Pepa in his arms, swaying her from side to side.
She hummed contentedly. “I have a few. But my favorite is- what about Antonia? After your mother?”
Félix beamed. “I love it. And I’m sure mamá would be honored.”
Pepa smiled at him brightly. “All right, I’ll be right back. Your daughter is playing fútbol with my internal organs.”
Félix chuckled. “Bet she’ll be a hell of a player one day.”
“She better be, with all the practice she’s getting!”
Their voices petered off as they left the kitchen, still basking in the glow of their happiness.
Bruno sat there, stunned. He couldn’t believe it. Pepa was having another baby- he’d have another niece or nephew! -and he wasn’t around for it. When she’d been pregnant with Dolores and Camilo, Pepa had consulted him for a vision to learn the sex of the baby, so she could pick out a proper name. Aside from his sisters, Bruno refused to have this kind of vision for anyone else. Four nieces and a nephew later, and babies still freaked him out. But he loved his family.
The thoughts plagued him for the rest of the afternoon. Pepa had been so sure she was having a girl. Was she right? In Bruno’s experience, her predictions were as good as the weather forecast: only right about half the time. So was he getting a fifth niece? Or would there finally be another Madrigal boy?
He couldn’t help it. He must have been focusing too hard on the question. His eyes flew open, glowing green, as he froze, watching the vision unfold before him.
There was a little boy. He looked about five, Bruno would guess. He had dark skin and eyes, and a mess of curls sticking out all over his head. Was this Félix as a kid? Why would he see that in a vision? No, that wasn’t quite right…his eyes were big, and they sparkled like Pepa’s when he smiled. And he smiled a lot. He was standing…in front of their casita, playing with…if Bruno didn’t know any better, he’d say it was a teenaged Julieta. But Julieta didn’t wear glasses. It had to be Mirabel, who even at five had been the spitting image of her mother.
She looked so beautiful and grown up. Bruno almost choked up seeing it. So if that was Mirabel, this had to be the new baby.
Bruno let out a laugh. Ha. He knew it wasn’t a girl. Pepa only said that because she didn’t want to deal with another baby boy. She’d always said that girls were easier to raise, pointing out their nieces and Dolores. But Bruno wasn’t sure if that was true. Camilo just had a lot of energy and hadn’t learned how to channel it yet. This new kid seemed…calmer somehow.
Suddenly, the vision changed. Cracks appeared on casita, spreading the way they had in that fateful vision that led to his banishment. To Bruno’s surprise, the kid transformed into a toucan, taking flight. Mirabel clung to his feet as he flew around the house. Wherever they passed, the cracks were mended. Finally, he set Mirabel down and landed, instantly turning into a jaguar. Jaguar-kid stalked proudly in front of casita with Mirabel on his back.
The image dissolved into a blur. Bruno blinked repeatedly, shaking his head rapidly. That had been…bizarre, to say the least. His question had been answered- Pepa would be having a boy. But so many new questions sprang up in his head. What was that whole bit where the kid turned into animals and took Mirabel for a ride? And the cracks on the house…was this vision somehow connected to the last one he’d had as a rightful inhabitant of la casa Madrigal?
Bruno shook his head, nonplussed. He guessed this was the kid’s gift. Pepa’s third kid would be able to turn into animals. Sure. Why not? Pepa already had one shapeshifting kid. What was another? Aside from an enormous headache for Pepa, that is. It was bad enough keeping track of a kid that could look like anyone. Imagine having another that could look like anything.
Well, he thought with a pang, that would be Pepa’s problem, not his. Since he hadn’t had any visions predicting his triumphant return from disgraceful exile, he figured he’d be in the walls for the rest of his life; watching his family go through life without him.
Pepa would be so crushed to find out she was wrong. But, on the bright side, Antonio would also be a great name.

Never A Dull Moment - One Shot
[Synopsis: There has never been a dull moment in the Madrigal household and the morning of Dolores' wedding is no exception. With Isa and Dolores driving Mira up the wall, Pepa going out of her mind and Agustin being...well...Agustin, Julieta is slowly giving up hope of getting anything done. She can't find it in her to complain though. After all, it is probably the most fun she has ever had.]
Read on AO3 or under the cut!
“Get that thing away from me! Mamá! Mamá!”
Julieta sighed under her breath and moved away from the counter at the sound of thundering feet and her daughter shouting at the top of her lungs, wiping her hands on her apron and palming a curl from her face seconds before she came racing into la cocina with Isa and Dolores hot on her heels. She had little time to work out what was going on before Mira moved behind her, using her as a human shield, and she laughed when the two elder girls halted in front of her. “Ay, I already know I’ll regret this,” She pinched the bridge of her nose before looking back and forth between the girls. “But what’s going on?”
“Only a game, Tía.” Dolores smiled, smoothing her hands down the front of her dressing gown.
“Mamá, I don’t know what that thing is or what it does,” Mirabel waved her hand in the direction of Isa who was holding up her mascara applicator. “But you can tell them to keep it away from me because I have no interest in finding out.”
“Ugh, I am just trying to make you look beautiful!” Isa snapped.
“Excuse me, I am already beautiful!” Mira retorted. “Mamá, tell them I don’t need any of that stuff.”
Julieta glanced over her shoulder at her, reaching to stroke her face. “You are muy hermosa, mi vida.”
“And that is why you’re my favourite.” Mira leaned in to peck her cheek.
“But…”
“Wha? No, no, no. No buts!”
“But amor, today is a special occasion,” Julieta pointed out, laughing when her daughter gawped at her before turning back to the elder girls and seeing the smirks on their faces. “I think you should give her a ten-second head start. The poor girl deserves a chance.”
They glanced at each other and shared a knowing look before turning back to Mira.
“Diez, nueve, ocho…”
“Oh, you are so not my favourite anymore.” Mirabel grumbled, moving from behind her and fleeing la cocina.
Julieta crossed her arms and chuckled when Isa and Dolores gave up counting and ran after her again, Dolores with one hand on her head to keep the pins in place and Isa clinging to her mascara, and she shook her head when Pepa walked in. “Lolita, please…” She watched her reach out to take her daughter by the arm, but it was too late and there was a scowl on her face when she turned to her once her girl was out of sight. “You did this! You!”
“Me?” She brought a hand to her chest, feigning shock. “I have no idea what gave you that impression, but you are absolutely right.”
“Do you have any idea how long I have been trying to get her to sit still for?” Pepa asked. “You are not helping, hermana!”
“Ay...Casita, help me out here,” She rolled her eyes before the house moved a chair towards them and made Pepa sit down. “Pep, calm down. Remember what happened the last time you got worked up on a wedding day? It was not pretty. You gave me the flu!”
Her hermana sighed and raked a hand through her hair. “Lo siento. I…I want it to be perfect for her.”
Taking a buñuelo from the plate on the counter and sprinkling some powdered sugar onto it, she let Pepa take it from her and watched her take a bite. “It will be, I promise. I know you want everything to be done as fast as possible, but we have time before she needs to be at the church. Besides, she is the novia which means she has the right to be slightly late. She also has the right to a little fun before the anxiety takes over. Remember us in the hours before Gus and I got married? Chasing Bruno around the sitting room, trying to force him to wear that stupid tie? Mamá was so annoyed, but we had some fun.”
“You two had fun. I was strangled. You know; still not convinced you weren’t trying to get rid of me.”
They looked at each other for a second after Bruno poked his head into the room purely to make that comment, their laughter taking over when he vanished again as Pepa ate the last of her buñuelo before wiping the crumbs from her mouth. “It has been nice to hear her laughing,” Pepa admitted. “She does deserve to have some fun, you’re right.”
“Do you think I could get that in writing? You say it so little…” She teased.
All she earned herself was an eye roll in response as Pepa stood up. “I needed that. Gracias hermana.”
“De nada,” She shrugged before watching her leave la cocina and turning back to the counter to go on wiping it down, the corner of her mouth twitching into a smirk when a pair of arms snaked around her waist and her husband kissed her on the neck. “I may have to accept the fact that I am never going to get this counter clean again,” She feigned annoyance, leaning back against him. “So many distractions.”
“I think you’ll find you are the distraction here, amor, not me,” He replied, tucking his head gently into her neck and grazing the dip there with his nose the way he knew made her shiver. “I only came in to see if you’d seen my tie, but now I hope we never find it.”
Setting the rag down and turning in his arms, bringing her hands to his chest and taking a moment to admire him in his suit, she smirked as his hands moved to her waist. “And why would you hope such a thing on a day like this, Señor?”
“Because…” He stepped further into her. “Until we find it, I can’t get dressed and that means I can stay here with you.”
She hummed in response, pretending to think about what he said while her gaze moved back and forth between his and his lips. “I have had better excuses from you in our many years of marriage, but I may be able to accept that one,” She admitted. “Just about.”
“Good. I mean, I would have regardless, but I like knowing you and I are on the same page.” He smiled.
“So, are you?”
“Am I what?”
“Going to stop talking at some point and kiss me? Else, this is turning out to be muy anticlimactic.”
Chuckling under his breath, he took a hand from her waist and brought it to the side of her neck under her curtain of hair before using his thumb beneath her chin to tilt her head back. He let his nose graze hers for a second, revelling in the way her eyes fell closed at the contact, and captured her lips with his in a soft kiss. She went up onto her tiptoes as the kiss lingered and he felt her arms circle his neck, her fingers teasing the hairs at the nape as they slowly gave in to one another. It was little wonder neither of them heard their daughter approaching the kitchen until it was too late.
“Ay, Mamá!”
Mira’s outcry prompted them to pull apart and turn to look at her, but their initial shock at her finding them like that passed quickly and they struggled to mask their amusement at her standing there with her hands covering her face.
“Mira, look at me.” Julieta told her.
“Nope.”
“Mira…”
“How could you let them do this to me?” Mirabel dropped her hands to reveal herself completely done up, mascara on her lashes and her lips a subtle shade of red. Her cheeks had even been patted with a little rouge by one of the girls. “I stopped running because they stopped counting, but then they both jumped on me. I think Isabela stabbed me in the eye with that stick thing and now I can’t see out of it.”
Agustín chuckled. “Miraboo, you couldn’t see much before. I don’t think you can blame Isa entirely.”
“Pa, I need you on my side.” She whined before he walked over and put an arm around her shoulders.
“Lo siento, but you really do look beautiful, mi vida.” Julieta shook her head, her hands on her hips.
She pouted. “I do not. I look like Isa threw up on me and yes, it feels as gross as it sounds.”
“Okay, okay, okay,” Julieta made her way over and cupped her face in her hands. “If I help you sort this, will you forgive me?”
“Potentially,” She hummed. “I might forgive you a little faster if you give me a buñuelo after.”
Julieta nodded before taking her by the hand and walking her towards the exit of the kitchen, she and her husband sharing a smile when she stopped for a second to look over her shoulder at him. “Back in un momenta. Do not eat all those buñuelos, I beg you.”
“Promise. Uh, I really do need to know where my tie is though.”
“Bread bin.”
“Wha…”
“Amor, your guess is as good as mine.”
Standing there thoroughly confused, he watched his wife and daughter leave the kitchen together and frowned with a shake of his head. He had no idea what had gone on – it had been an insane morning already – but he was sure of one thing.
There really was never a dull moment in this house.

What's with the door?
Pepa was surprised, seeing a new name on her child's door. Was there something wrong?
Short piece of Dolores coming out to the second person in the family. Made for trans visibility day. So, reminder, you're all welcome in here and extremely valid
It was easy to miss. Even Pepa herself wasn't looking at *'s door too often to spot how the name had changed. The only time when it happened in her memory was when Mama's door changed her name to Abuela.
Camilo was the first to spot a change in his sibling's door.
"What do you mean?" Pepa asked, worried. She got out of her armchair. A light wind ruffled her hair. Was there something wrong with *?
Camilo nodded, taking her arm. "There's written Dolores!"
At first, Pepa didn't believe him. Why would the name on a door change all of a sudden? It had never happened before, there was no reason for Casita to put a random name.
It, indeed, was wrong. Strong cold wind wind rose as Pepa nervously grabbed her braid, pulling out her hair. What happened to her child? What if there was something wrong with * and Casita wanted to show it?
Worried, Pepa slowly knocked on a glowing door. She needed to get answers. "Mijo? I'm coming in." She announced, breaking inside when the answer didn't follow in a split of second.
Pepa's eldest fell off the chair in surprise. Isabela who stood just next to * tensed, helping her cousin to get up. Staring down, Pepa had finally noticed that * looked wrong. A normal costume was shown off, lying on the unmade bed. Instead of it, a lilac dress, which undoubtedly belonged to Isabela, hung like a bag. Too big for * slim proportions.
It took a moment for Pepa to suppress her shock. She called out her child's name. "What are you doing?" A nervous snowflake fell on her sleeves. * looked down for a moment as Pepa approached. "I'm not upset, I just want to know what is going on." She assured, kneeling down next to her child.
Isabela opened her mouth, but * reached her palm stop. "Isa, this is my talk," * asked, making Isabela retreat, taking a step back.
There wasn't anything strange with wearing your siblings' clothes. Of course. Pepa did it herself. But with * reaction... The wind grew stronger, as it was obvious that there was something more to it. Pepa could see it in her eldest's face.
* closed * eyes, cletching * hands together. "Mama, I... I need to tell you something. I am a girl." * breathed out, as she always did in tense moments. When the secrets couldn't be holden back in her mind.
Pepa froze for a second. "You are?" She reached, unsured. Her palm lay on her daughter (alive daughter)'s shoulder. Was it why the name on a door had changed? It all made sense now, the door now called her Dolores. It wasn't a mistake, just a new name for her baby.
Dolores nodded, a little tense. "You know how Tía helps some people to change their characteristics?" Of course, it happened from time to time. But she never thought her child would need it too.
Pepa smiled, a warm sun already dried the snow. She pulled the edge of a purple skirt. "You look beautiful." The entire thing with wearing Isabela's dress had so much more meaning now. Not as a childish game, but a really important act.
Isabela chuckled, crossing her arms. "Told you," it made Pepa wonder if her eldest niece knew about it. Considering the situation, Pepa was completely sure she did.
Pepa pulled her child closer in a hug. It was just so unbelievable. A little hard to believe that Dolores wasn't a boy.
Dolores pushed her face into Pepa's bright dress, her eyes left wet marks. Rain dripped over them as Pepa held her daughter close. Not from being sad, it just was so overwhelming.
"Do you know what it means?" Pepa pulled away, grabbing Dolores' wrist. "We're about to rob a clothing store."
Bright sun rays glowed on their faces. Pepa was joking, of course. She wouldn't mind doing it in reality, but for now, they could deal with it. Dolores seemed okay with wearing a bit unfit for her clothes. Maybe Pepa could give her something out of her old wardrobe too.
It took a while to calm down initial emotions. Pepa placed two steaming cups of black coffee on a table in Dolores' room. A bitter smell filled the room, spreading up to the ceiling.
Isabela followed behind, holding her own cup. Much to Pepa's dismay, she preferred café con leche. In Pepa's opinion drinking that thing was illegal, but it wasn't important right now.
Pepa pushed one of the cups to Dolores. "I'm so happy." She muttered, taking a sip.
Dolores' finger slid across the edge of her cup. She didn't drink such a hot coffee, unlike her mother. "I was worried about telling you." She confirmed, staring into Pepa's eyes. "Or the family in general."
"Well, you told Isabela?" Pepa muttered. She was happy, of course. It was pleasing to know how much Dolores trusted her cousin.
Dolores shrugged. "I was upset with her new pretty dress."
"You started crying over me asking how I look."
Pepa sighed. These two were such siblings.
It still was strange. Calling her Dolores was unusual, several times Pepa had to cut herself off when she was about to say the wrong name, but she did her best to control herself. Isabela wasn't much better, but got herself to using a nickname she had for Dolores when they were in kindergarten, to make it lay easier on her tongue. Dolores was grateful for them trying to use the right name, even if it was visibly strange for them both.
It turned out, Pepa wasn't much behind in time. Isabela was told just a few hours ago. And the door had changed after that. Pepa felt her internal guilt calming down. She was upset that she didn't realize the name had changed earlier.
Well, technically it was Camilo who noticed.
In the end of the day, it didn't matter if Dolores was a girl or a boy. She was Pepa's little child. The one that she carried for months, pampered and raised. Pepa loved her kids more than anything.

El santuario de los padres
Today was a tough day/week, for all of them really. The kids just were a bit much all over…and they needed a break. So, why not have a get together among cross dimensional friends and kids? Parent by parent, kid by kid, they walked through portals and stood in front of the six story Casita.
There they all stood. Mamabuela, mamaisa, papa Bruno, mamalores, mamabel, papantonio (all by @gamerbearmira), pamamilo (by me), and Mamaluisa (by @yellowcry). Each of them had their own kid/kids with them and the parents looked…tired. But very happy they got this break.
(PS. Papa Bruno is Bruno who adopted Mirabel and Antonio because they were being neglected.)
“Hey luisa!” Mamabel waved at mamaluisa with her 12 year old daughter next to her. Mamaluisa waved back and so did ML! Mirabel (MLU = Mama luisa). Mamabel had 2 year old Antonio in her arms and the rest of her children in tow.
“Hey tio!” Mamaisa waved at papa Bruno who had his 14 year old Mirabel and four year old Antonio with him. He waved back and so did his nino’s. Mamaisa was busy holding 3 year old Antonio and had 13 year old Camilo and Mirabel with her, as well as 17 year old Luisa.
“Hola Lolo” Mamabuela waved at mamalores who had 11 year old Mirabel with her and 1 year old Antonio in her arms. Mamabuela had 12 year old Isabela, 10 year old Luisa, and six year old Mirabel with her.
“Hey tonito!” pamamilo waved at papantonio who had 4 year old Mirabel with him. Pamamilo had 4 year old Antonio, 6 year old Isaac, 8 year old sophia, 9 year old macario, and 10 year old celeste.
The very ground they stood on was a wide and long land full of luscious jungle. Beyond that was just a beautiful orange sunset. You could see that the jungle did end somewhere but too far for anyone to actually walk to.
The trees and bushes gave sweet fruit and berries for the kids or adults to eat. The overall vibe was very joyful and warm. A large playground sat to the right of the house and that’s instantly where the kids above the age of 3 went. The older kids could easily watch the four year olds so it was no biggie leaving them alone.
The tweens/teens such as PB! Mirabel, MLU! Mirabel, ML! Mirabel, MA! Isabela, and M! Mirabel, MI! Camilo, and MI! Luisa ran into the house and into a large decorated room for them to talk. (PB = Papa Bruno, ML = Mamalores, MA = Mamabuela, MI = Mamaisa).
As for the babies such as PB! Antonio, MI! Antonio, ML! Antonio, and MB! Antonio among other toddlers were put into a small play area next to the couch inside the living room. The “adults” all sat on their designated cushions and all let out a relaxed sigh. (And yes, I know, lot’s of baby Antonio’s)
Tough day?” Mamabuela asked?
All she heard was tired sounds that clearly meant “yes”. Don’t get me wrong, they love their little munchkins to death, but please believe that taking care of them isn’t so easy. Especially when you're too young to even raise them…
“Antonio wouldn’t eat his vegetables for two hours” Papabruno pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Mirabel thought it was a good idea to make a toasted pb&j sandwich…almost burnt the kitchen down” Papatonio groaned.
“Alejandra decided she wanted to see what leaves tasted like” Mamabel’s eye twitched
Parent by parent, they all listed what they went through from the following week and day. It was apparent that all of them were tired.
“I need tea” Mamalores sighed when she put her hands on her head. A headache prominent in her head for three hours before she got here.
“I need wine” Pamamilo chuckled
“Tea it is” Mamaisa got up and attempted to go toward the kitchen but someone stopped her.
“I got it isa, you can relax” Papatonio put his hand on her shoulder and patted it.
“I’m more closer to the kitchen” Mamalulu stood up, “I can go make it-”
Here we go
“Oh no, you guys can sit down, I can do it” Mamabel raised her hand in an up and down motion. Gesturing for them to sit.
“I can do it, it’s no issue. Just tell me what tea you guys like” Pamamilo chimed in
“I can go, I don’t mind” Papabruno stood up
“I mentioned tea, so I should do it” Mamalores got off the couch, “you can sit d-”
CRASH….a window has been broken. And what went through the window? A baseball. Yards, miles, acres worth of land and yet the children decided to play baseball…directly near the house.
And what made the situation funny, is that the outside was very quiet. Eerily quiet. Usually, the outside always sounded like kids at recess. Now?...ghost town. The kids all knew there was trouble ahead and this could be heard from outside-
“Why would you do that?” MB! Luisa shouted at ML! Mirabel. MB! Luisa sounded scared and panicked.
“I don’t know! It was an accident!” ML! Mirabel sounded like she was on the verge of tears.
“You're gonna die” MB! Mirabel said with blatant honesty.
Inside the house all of the “adults” looked very displeased and stared directly at the baseball.
“How about we make our own tea and deal with that later”
-
Here’s how sanctuary casita works:
Sanctuary Casita has about 50+ rooms inside of it. All of them are big or small depending on the kid or parent.
Casita is six stories tall and wide as hell seeing as it needs to fit 50+ people. Sometimes the parents and kids stay long enough to sleep there but not all the time.
It has a pool, LARGE kitchen, dance studio, library, and anything else you could think of.
Yep, that’s about it. If you have any ideas for what else to add let me know.
How the au works and Q&A
When the parents get stressed out they usually go to sanctuary casita for a break.
How did they meet? Still trying to figure that out but it has to do with just a portal opening up in their room.
All of the parents have a special pendant necklace (that was gifted to them by sanctuary Casita) they can call each other through. All they have to do is touch the pendant with a certain person in mind and they just call them. The kids above four have them too.
Do the other relatives of the parents know the sanctuary world exists? Depends on who you're asking. Papa bruno, Mamaluisa, and Mamalores, Mamabel: No/not yet. Papantonio, Mamabuela, and Pamamalio: yes.
Do I plan on expanding this au?...sort of? I guess, mostly with incorrect quotes.
How many times do they meet up? Every week or every other month.
Will there be angst in this au? only by request. Other than that, it's just wholesome family vibes.

Luisa came into the school gymnasium with several boxes of decorations and put them down next to Senora Herrera, her guidance counselor who was also the head of the school’s Prom Committee. She took one of the boxes from the tower and took out a pack of streamers and three plastic table cloths. Gabriela walked towards the tower of boxes to see Luisa next to her, taking out more decorations.
“The decorations look great! Our Winter Wonderland prom is going to be running smoothly if we continue at this pace,” Gabriela said as she showed Luisa a detailed sketch of what she envisioned the gym to look like with the decorations intact.
Luisa sat on the bleachers next to Gabriela. “I’ve been waiting for prom since Isabela and Dolores told me about their prom three years ago. I was planning dress ideas with Mirabel since the beginning of the school year, and I’m planning on going dress shopping with Mami soon. You and Nova should come with us!”
Gabriela’s face lit up when she suggested going dress shopping with the Madrigals. “I would love to come with you, Luisa!”
“Awesome! Papi is great friends with the dress shop owner in the Encanto, and Isabela and Dolores got their prom dresses from her. Isabela will be coming with us since she chose her own prom dress and gave Dolores pointers on hers, and they both ended up with two of the most beautiful dresses in their graduating class.”
“Can you ask your mama when we head back to Casita?”
“Absolutely! She would love for you and Nova to come with us!”
Luisa and Gabriela got back to Casita to see Julieta with a fresh batch of arepas on the kitchen counter. Julieta gave her middle daughter a hug and a kiss on the cheek and Gabriela a light squeeze on the hand.
“How was your day today, ninas?” Julieta asked as she moved the batch of arepas closer to Luisa and Gabriela.
“It was great! The decorations just got delivered today and Gabriela has the perfect map of what the gym will look like!” Luisa replied before she took a bite of her arepa.
Gabriela took out her sketch pad and opened it up to the page of the sketch of the school gymnasium. “We were thinking of doing a Winter Wonderland prom this year. Here’s what I was thinking in regards to the setup.”
Julieta took a look at the sketch. It showed the gym being covered to the brim with the decorations they decided to use. “It looks like you have a vision of what you want for prom.”
“I wanted to make sure the map was as detailed as I could draw so Senora Herrerra could know what I envisioned the gym to look like on prom night,” Gabriela explained before she took a bite of her arepa.
The three talked some more about prom until Mirabel made her way downstairs and into the kitchen. Her face lit up when she saw Gabriela with Luisa. Ever since her gift ceremony, Gabriela was her main source of support besides Luisa and her parents. Once she got to middle school, she developed a closer bond with Gabriela when she started tutoring her in science and helping her with homework. She gave her mother and sister a hug and a kiss on the cheek and Gabriela a small squeeze to her hand that Julieta gave her.
“Hola, Luisa, Gabriela! How was your day today?”
“We just had our Prom Committee meeting after school. We just got the decorations delivered and we should be getting started on booking the band soon.”
Mirabel took a bite of her arepa. “Eso es genial! I can’t wait to see your dresses!”
“Speaking of, mama, I wanted to ask you if Gabriela and Nova can come with us dress shopping when it comes time?”
“Absolutely! You know we love to have you and your mama in our company.”
“I’ll ask mi mama if we can come when I get home. Mirabel, are you ready for your homework help?”
“Yep! My books are in my room. Let’s go!”
Mirabel and Gabriela made their way upstairs to her room as Luisa waved at her sister and her best friend. She finished her second arepa quietly as she stared at Gabriela heading upstairs with Mirabel and Julieta got the pots out to make dinner.
“Luisa, do you have something on your mind? You’re not usually this quiet when Gabriela’s here to tutor Mirabel.”
“It’s just that… I just… Mama, do you remember your prom?”
Julieta put the pots down and made her way to the kitchen table next to Luisa. “Is there something about prom that’s bothering you?”
Luisa hesitated before she began to answer. “I… really want to ask Gabriela to be my date to prom… but I don’t know exactly how to do it. I want it to be memorable, but I know she’s not into all that over the top stuff. Also, there’s this other girl, Sonia, who’s in her A.P. Art class, that she’s been talking about quite a lot, and I feel like she likes her a lot.”
Julieta held her middle daughter’s hand before responding. “It sounds like you really like Gabriela in that way, too. And I’m going to be honest with you, when I asked your papi to my prom when I was your age, I was feeling the same way. We’ve been dating for several months prior, but I was still nervous about asking him because I didn’t want to surprise him so much that he ended up injuring himself so severely that even I couldn’t help him.”
“Did he end up reacting that way when you did prompose to him?”
“Kind of… I got help from your tia Pepa and your tio Bruno to prepare the promposal, and we did it in the gym after school so there wasn’t a large crowd around. We knew that would put him in a permanent shock. We didn’t know that he would still be in shock regardless of how private it was. Once your papi came into the gym and saw Pepa, Bruno, and I hold up the letter signs, he fainted! He was so shocked that I asked him to prom; he fainted and we needed to take him to the nurse’s office!”
Luisa let out a light chuckle as she finished her arepa. “Did you still give him a spare arepa while he was in the nurse’s office?”
Julieta chuckled back. “Corazon, I only heal injuries and minor illnesses, I can’t wake people up when they’re unconscious. But I did give him one to heal the bump he made on his head when he hit the floor.” She put the pot of boiling water on the stove and turned it on. “After he woke up, he finally gave a response and said yes. It was the happiest day of my life at the time and we ended up having the most magical night of our teenage lives.”
Luisa got up from her stool and grabbed a book out of her backpack. “Does that mean Gabriela’s going to faint if I ever asked her?”
“No! That’s not what I’m saying at all! What I’m saying is that it’s okay if you’re feeling nervous about asking Gabriela to prom. Even if you think she likes someone else, you should shoot your shot anyway. The worst that could happen is that she rejects it.”
“So you think Gabriela’s going to say no!?”
Julieta paused before putting the vegetables in the pot of boiling water. “Amor, Gabriela’s not going to say no. She cherishes you and the friendship you built together all these years, and she’s visibly become a lot more confident since you became friends. Nova has told me many times about how she keeps talking about you in high regards.”
Right on cue, Pepa made her way in the kitchen with Antonio in her arms and put him down when she saw Julieta and Luisa. She put her school book on the table and Pepa sat next to her.
“Tia Pepa, do you remember anything about what happened when Tio Felix asked you to his prom? I know you didn’t start dating until after he graduated.”
“She wants to ask Gabriela to prom but she’s nervous,” Julieta interrupted.
Pepa giggled and held Luisa’s hand on the table. “I remember he asked me to meet him at the school’s courtyard after school one day. He planned this elaborate promposal for me and even got Julieta, Bruno, and Agustin involved. I never admitted it until our eighteenth birthday, but I already liked Felix at the time, but never had the words to tell him until then. Once I made my way to the courtyard, I saw Felix in front and he led me over to Julieta, Bruno, and Agustin, who held up the most elaborate poster anyone could have created and I produced so many rainbows that the entire school came out to watch!”
“Were you embarrassed?”
“I was pretty embarrassed. I had the entire school staring at my rainbows that I had to hide in the bathroom until everything calmed down and Felix agreed to walk me back home. I said yes on the way back home so he didn’t feel like he was left hanging.”
“Are you saying that Gabriela might react the same way?”
“Well, she doesn’t have any gift that could potentially draw attention to her, so I don’t think she needs to worry about the whole school staring at her.”
Luisa finished her third arepa before giving her mother and tia a hug. They knew just as well as her that Gabriela hated large crowds, so they wanted to make sure Luisa plans a promposal that she would remember, without stressing her out.
“Gracias, mami, tia; I think I have something in mind that she would appreciate.”
Right after the conversation ended, Gabriela and Mirabel came back downstairs and into the kitchen to see Pepa and Antonio with Julieta and Luisa. Antonio ran over to Gabriela and she picked him up in a hug.
“Hola, Gabriela! I haven’t seen you in a long time! How has Lucia been?”
Lucia, Gabriela and Jose’s nine-year-old sister, has been close with the Madrigals, mostly Mirabel and Antonio, since Nova announced she was having another baby. She was considered another sister to the Madrigal grandkids.
“She’s been great! She just got accepted in the Gifted and Talented program for the fall, so she’s going to have her hands full next year. But things will be winding down once your gift ceremony rolls around so she’s excited to see that!”
Antonio gave Gabriela another hug before she put him back down. She went over to Pepa to give her a hug as Pepa’s rainbow shone bright above her and Gabriela. “Tia Pepa! How have you been? I’ve been so busy with the school’s Prom Committee that it feels like forever since I last saw you!”
Ever since Gabriela first became friends with Luisa, Pepa has approached Gabriela with the most caring demeanor for her, since they understood each other so well. Since then, Gabriela has seen Pepa as her own tia.
“I’ve been pretty good. Controlling my gift has been difficult but other than that, things have been bueno.”
“That’s good to hear. By the way, this may be a far-fetched question, but our prom is going to be Winter Wonderland themed, and I was wondering if you would be able to make it snow on prom night.”
Pepa smiled lightly and blushed. “I mean, I still don’t really have full control of my gift just yet, but I’ll try, just for you.”
Gabriela squealed and gave Pepa a hug. Pepa hugged her back and Luisa joined in. Julieta turned the stove off and headed back to the kitchen table.
“Luisa, Mirabel, let everyone else know that dinner’s ready. Pepa and I will set the table. Gabriela, would you like to help us set the table?”
“Absolutely! Gracias, Julieta.”
Several weeks have passed, and Luisa thought of the perfect promposal for Gabriela, with the help of Mirabel for setting it up. She asked her to meet her in the courtyard after school and made sure they were alone so she did not feel uncomfortable. She also asked Isabela and Dolores to meet her outside the courtyard so they could help her with performing the promposal. She asked them to hide in the bushes until she gave them the cue to come out.
Gabriela made her way to the school’s courtyard to see Luisa sitting at the picnic bench in the middle alone. Luisa waved at Gabriela to get her attention and she sat next to her and dropped her backpack and put it under the bench.
“Why did you want to meet me here, Luisa? Was there something you wanted to tell me in private?”
Luisa paused before she replied. “Kind of. I just wanted to tell you… you know that I cherished our friendship throughout the years, and I really want our last few months of school to be just as special.” Luisa subtly winked at the bush and Isabela and Dolores came out with letter signs spelling “PROM.” She walked over to her older sister and cousin. “I just want to know, Gabriela Perez, will you go to prom with me?”
Gabriela smiled and ran over to Luisa to give her a hug. “I would love to, Luisa! I’ve wanted to ask you but I never really had the words to do so.”
“Really? I was scared you were going to say no.”
“What made you think that?”
“I’ve been noticing you hanging out with Sonia and talking about her a lot, and I thought that you… liked her and wanted to ask her.”
“Oh; we had a really big project for A.P. Art that we paired up for, and that was eating up a lot of my time. She’s sweet, and I know I told you how much she has helped me, but it was not nearly as much as you have. I was actually scared YOU were going to say no because I thought I was going to mess up that badly.”
Isabela and Dolores looked at each other, smiled, and high-fived each other. Luisa and Gabriela hugged once more as Isabela and Dolores walked towards them to hug Luisa. They let each other go before Gabriela wriggled her way out.
“Do you guys want to come by my house tonight? I know I have to tutor Mirabel today but we can stop by your house to pick her up. Besides, Jose misses you two and he and Lucia want to see you guys again.”
“Sure! I’m sure Mira wouldn’t mind doing the tutoring session at your house. Besides, Lucia will be very happy to see her again.”
The months leading up to prom were the busiest for Luisa and Gabriela. Isabela helped them pick out their dresses and they never felt more beautiful. The weekend before prom, Julieta and Nova took the girls to get gel manicures and pedicures, which they had fun with together. The day of prom was the day their entire senior class left school early to get their hair and makeup done and take pictures before heading to the school.
Luisa and Gabriela went to the hair salon together and Isabela offered to do their makeup. Julieta and Nova wanted to get pictures of their daughters in front of Casita with their friends. Sonia came with her date, Juan, who was a junior, and they had a fun time talking with each other and getting pictures with Casita. Jose and Lucia also came to Casita to see the Madrigals, and they got the chance to talk and catch up with everyone.
“Luisa! I want to say that you look like a princess in your dress!” Lucia said when she walked up to Luisa and Gabriela.
“Gracias, Lucia. I do hope you get the chance to feel like a princess when you’re our age and going to your prom.” Lucia gave Luisa a hug and she lifted her up. Antonio came up to Gabriela and she lifted him also.
“You also look like a princess,” Antonio said to Gabriela.
“Gracias, Antonio. I know Lucia has been saying that to me since she first saw me in the dress, but it’s still sweet to hear it from you.”
Gabriela put Antonio down and he ran back to Mirabel. They both came up to Luisa and Gabriela and gave both of them a hug. Julieta and Pepa followed suit, along with Isabela and Dolores. Agustin, Felix, and Camilo, until Nova, Jose, and Lucia joined in and the Madrigals and the Perezes formed a group hug.
Once it was time to leave, the group bid one more goodbye to their families and made their way to the school together. While they were walking, Luisa noticed Gabriela limping her way a little bit.
“Gabriela, what’s the matter? Are you hurt?”
“Kind of; it’s just that I don’t normally wear heels so my feet hurt a little bit. But it sucks because I’m really excited to dance with everyone tonight.”
Luisa held her date’s hand as they continued walking. “You know, you can take your shoes off when you want to dance. And if you ever need a break, you can come to me and we can sit in the courtyard together.”
Gabriela hugged Luisa one more time and right in that moment, they made it to the school. Luisa’s entire senior class was there, plus several others coming as dates, and everyone was greeting each other before heading into the gym for the event. While Luisa was greeting the rest of her friends, she noticed Gabriela staying closer to her and not saying anything to anyone, even though she knew half of her class pretty well. Luisa always knew Gabriela was shy, especially around large crowds, but she also noticed how much her face lit up when she talked about how excited she was for prom.
Luisa grabbed Gabriela’s hand again and smiled at her. Gabriela looked at Luisa and smiled at her back. She squeezed her hand lightly to signal that she wants her to meet her friends in her other classes. She walked up to her friend and gave her a shy wave.
“Hola; my name is Gabriela Perez. Luisa and I are in the same literature and choir class and we’ve been friends since we were six.”
Hola, Gabriela! My name is Rosaria; I’m in Luisa’s history class. She’s been telling me all about you! ¡Es un placer conocerte!”
Rosaria came to Gabriela for a hug, but before she could touch her, Luisa tapped on her shoulder and whispered in her ear. Rosaria then gave Gabriela’s hand a light squeeze. It always made Gabriela feel welcome to know that Luisa will remind all her other friends of what Gabriela is and is not comfortable with, and that those friends will accommodate her.
Once the senior class finished greeting each other, everyone made their way into the school and headed straight to the gym. It was decorated just like how Gabriela envisioned the gym would look like in her sketches. Blue and white balloons decorated the gym from top to bottom, with a projection of snowflakes on the walls. Gabriela cried tears of joy when she saw her sketches come to life.
Luisa and Gabriela sat at a table with Sonia, Juan, Rosaria, and her date, Santiago, and they spent the night talking and dancing with each other. Once the first slow song came on, Gabriela tugged onto Luisa’s dress lightly and they made their way to the dance floor. The girls held each other and danced to the music.
“Luisa, I want to let you know that tonight was really the best night of my life. At first, I was kind of scared that it was not going to go as well as I thought it was going to be, but I’m having fun and meeting your friends was pretty awesome.”
Luisa smiled and blushed as she looked up at Gabriela. “I’m going to be honest; I was also scared you weren’t going to have a great time. I understand how important it is to you that everything turns out the way it does in your head, and I know that it takes a while for you to warm up to a lot of people in one place. I’m just happy you’re having a great time.”
Gabriela and Luisa looked at each other again until Gabriela reached up to Luisa and gave her a kiss on the lips to Luisa’s shock. It felt like the world stopped at that moment and fireworks went off in their lips. The kiss only lasted for ten seconds, but for Luisa, it felt like a lifetime. She grabbed Gabriela by the back of her head and kissed her again to feel her lips once more. They wanted to make sure the kiss lasted as long as they could because they did not want to let each other go.
Once the song ended, Senora Herrera made her way on the stage and to the microphone, holding an envelope. Luisa and Gabriela unlocked lips to listen to their guidance counselor’s speech to end the night.
“Damas y caballeros, before we end our night, it is time to announce our prom royalty! For the last two months, we asked you, the entire senior class, to cast your votes on who you wanted to become this year’s royalty.” The gym bursted with applause before Senora Herrera opened the envelope to announce the year’s prom royalty. “And our prom royalty is… Luisa Madrigal and Gabriela Perez!”
Luisa and Gabriela began crying tears of joy when they made their way to the stage. Senora Hererra put the tiaras on the girls’ heads, and put on their sashes, reading “ROYALTY” on them. Luisa made her way to the microphone to give her speech.
“Wow, I never thought I was going to be prom royalty, let alone with my best friend of almost twelve years! I’m not really the best with speeches, but I guess I can give a couple of thank yous. Of course, I want to thank Senora Hererra, for planning such an amazing prom this year and offering Gabriela’s and my help. I also want to thank the entire senior class for nominating us this year. But most of all, I want to thank Gabriela, for being the best friend I could ask for, who has spent countless hours helping my family and me, and being the biggest source of support for us. I don’t think I would be on this stage talking to you right now if it weren’t for her.”
The class applauded once more as Gabriela hugged Luisa. The yearbook photographer made his way on the stage and took a picture of Luisa and Gabriela in their sashes and tiaras. As the night winded down, Luisa and Gabriela continued dancing for the rest of the night until one more treat was given to the class.
Before the night ended, Sonia ran up to the stage and grabbed the mic from Luisa. “It’s actually snowing outside! Everyone, look!” she exclaimed as everyone in the gym made their way to the windows to see the Encanto covered in snow. Luisa and Gabriela were the last ones to run to the windows to squeeze through everyone and see the snow.
Right at that moment, Luisa noticed Pepa standing close to a shrubbery with her cloud right above her. Pepa waved at Luisa and she waved back at her tia. Gabriela noticed Pepa and also waved at her.
“She really did it! She kept her promise and made it snow at our prom!” Gabriela said excitedly as the crowd made their way back outside to dance in the snow. Luisa and Gabriela were once again the last ones to make it outside to see their entire class having the time of their lives in the snow. Gabriela ran up to Pepa and gave her the tightest hug imaginable before going back up to Luisa and dancing with her for the rest of the night until it was time to go home.
Gabriela stayed at Casita in Luisa’s room, but Luisa had to carry Gabriela back to Casita. She plopped her on her bed and layed down next to her. They both smiled and snuggled each other, drifting to sleep. They were going to remember tonight as being the best night of their lives.

Love and Fury
Fic Summary: A misunderstanding leads to Bruno getting out of the house more. Pre-Movie AU. Rape is a theme but none is shown “on-screen”.
Chapter 1 Next Master List
CH 2 Bad Luck Bruno
Saturday morning, the day after the quinceanera, Julietta told her mother what had happened while Bruno was in the shower. Late Saturday afternoon Alma and Julietta left Casita, Julietta carried her usual basket of food so Bruno didn’t think twice about it, he was too busy acting out scenes from Pepa’s favorite book while she sat curled up in her rocking chair, a blanket draped over her lap and a smile slowly growing across her face. Just as Saturday afternoon became Saturday evening Alma Madrigal reached the goat herder’s house in the mountains.
She knocked on the door and was greeted by Leandra Lopez.
Leandra was beautiful in the way that young women tend to be. When she was younger, she had looked very similar to Alma’s own daughter Julietta, however Leandra spent most of her time outside and it showed. The sun had dyed her skin a dark golden brown, her hair had been lightened from black to almost auburn in the right light, she seemed to gain ten new freckles a day, and often smelled of the sunscreen the apothecary carried or the herbs she used in her soap. She wasn’t what anyone would call a “delicate” beauty, she spent too much of her time hauling a wagon full of soap and cheese up and down a mountain for that, in fact, Alma had once seen Leandra beat Agustín in an arm wrestling contest.
Today, like most days, Leandra wore a very simple blouse, this one had pale pink flowers embroidered around the collar, and a faded skirt that had once been red with teal vines embroidered around the hem, but was now pink with light green vines. She had a stained burgundy apron on, and her curls were held back in a ponytail through the combined teamwork of a green handkerchief and an undecorated hair clip.
“Is Pepa ok?” she blurted immediately.
“She will be, thanks to you, apparently,” Alma responded, “I would like to hear the night’s events from your point of view.”
By the time the lazy summer sun had set, Alma Madrigal had the full story, not only of the night before, but of the night Rosalie’s life was turned upside down.
“I-I don’t know for sure that Cicero is the one that did it, but-.” here, Leandra had trailed off, nibbling at her lip.
“But you strongly suspect so,” Alma filled in for her, “have you been keeping tabs on him?”
“Si, well… only at parties, I don’t have time to follow him around all the time,” she’d shrugged. She had chores to do, and he mostly didn’t.
“Have you ever seen him slip something into any other girl’s drink?”
“I… don’t know. There have been a couple times when,” she sighed and shook her head, shrugging again, “when it was definitely possible? Probable, even. I-I didn’t actually see anything extra enter the drink, but the girls he takes to parties all tend to get ‘drunk’ way quicker than usual.”
Alma had sighed, nodding slowly, “Has he taken any of these girls home?”
“No. Both times I got a member of the girl’s family to take her home. I’m not letting any other girl suffer the way Rosalie has.”
Alma had left shortly after that, Leandra had taken one look at the darkening sky and had pressed a lantern into Alma’s hand. She had offered to escort Alma down the mountain herself, but Alma had refused anything more than the companionship of Leche, an old Mountain Dog that helped Señor Lopez watch over the goats.
The dog stuck by Alma’s side as the narrow road back to town ambled its way through trees and down hills. When she was back to the main road the well trained dog turned and returned home.
She sighed once more, watching him go. Her shoulders felt heavy as she wondered, not for the first time, how she had ended up the de facto leader of this village. She knew, of course, it was because she guarded the miracle. Her family protected the village from storms and drought, healed the injured, and warned of coming disasters. In the early days, her house was the only shelter these people had, and so she had offered it without a second thought.
And now? Now the villagers trusted her. Plain and simple.
But why couldn’t anything ever actually be plain and simple? The unfortunate truth was that although they lived in a paradise, some evils had followed the refugees into their Encanto. Like rape, or the tendency of men and women alike to look down on the victims of sexual assault. Especially when the assaulter was a man like Cicero.
Cicero’s father, Señor Gutierrez, was Encanto’s only winemaker, and Cicero Gutierrez was his father’s only heir. Encanto would need much more than the word of a herdsman’s adopted daughter before they were willing to banish a Gutierrez.
Alma shook her head and kept walking.
She spoke to the other two women that Cicero may or may not have drugged on Sunday, after church. Neither of them had anything concrete to add, although they both swore that they’d only had one or two drinks before they’d suddenly found themselves blacking out. They also both admitted to not feeling safe around Cicero.
On Sunday afternoon, while Bruno was in his tower giving a vision to an extremely ungrateful baker (who was destined to lose this year’s baking contest to his competitor across town) Bruno’s new arch enemy infiltrated his home. Leandra “Reina” Lopez stopped by with a basket of Pepa’s favorite creams and soaps, she offered to replace the dress she had spilled food on and had been relieved to hear that Bruno had saved it. When Pepa had hugged her and rain had soaked through her shawl, Leandra had rubbed Pepa’s back and insisted that she just wished she’d thought of a more graceful way to handle the situation.
“Honestly,” Leandra had said, wringing the rainwater out of her shawl, “I’ve spent more time than is probably healthy thinking about what I would do if I caught that gilipollas in the act, but when I actually did, I just… panicked! I’m so sorry.”
Pepa had chuckled and waved her off, somewhat bitterly reminding her that her quick action had saved Pepa from something a lot worse than a lap full of food. They’d spent a bit of time chatting then had hugged one more time and parted ways.
Seconds after Leandra had left Bruno walked out of his room, being followed by the baker who was insisting that “well clearly you saw it wrong”.
He rolled his eyes and muttered, “Oh did I? Well, in that case why don’t you look into the future and see it better.”
“What was that?”
Bruno cleared his throat, his mother’s voice ringing in his ears, reminding him that he had just delivered some bad news and he should have a bit of empathy for the recipient, “Nothing Señor, I was just… noticing the wind. It looks iffy, I-I should probably uh consult with Pepa, make sure that no big storms are about to, you know, cause problems.”
“Oh,” the baker had frowned doubtfully at the window but ultimately agreed. Bruno and Pepa had been able to mitigate the damage of a hurricane that would have otherwise destroyed the town when they were thirteen years old, ever since then, Bruno had been able to use every puff of wind or wisp of cloud as an excuse to escape uncomfortable situations.
If you asked him, it was the real miracle.
With the baker gone, Bruno had sought Pepa out, and was pleased to find she was already with Julietta. The triplets had left Casita and met up with Agustín for a picnic by the river. Felix had eventually strolled out of the bushes with a fishing pole thrown over his shoulder and he had been all too happy to join them.
Monday passed in its usual array of chores and magic. Bruno was happy to note that Pepa seemed to be doing better, although he still felt she was owed an apology. Leandra was unhappy to note that when she and her father walked into town to have dinner with the Sanchezes, Cicero had briefly abandoned his friends in the town square to lavish her with unwelcome attention.
A few hours later Alma, who had stopped by the Apothecary earlier to ask them if they stocked anything that might be mixed into a young woman’s wine to make her vulnerable, had intercepted Leandra on her way out of town to ask what exactly she had seen Cicero put in Pepa’s drink.
In short, Leandra had spoken to one of the Madrigals about Friday’s incident every day since it happened, so you can imagine her surprise Tuesday morning when Bruno marched up to her stand in the market, planted his hands on the wooden counter, leaned in close and told her, “You need to apologize to my sister”.
Her response was to stare at him for a solid minute
She didn’t mean to gape the way she did, but she had just sort of assumed that Bruno knew what happened. She hadn’t really thought about it, to be honest. Bruno seemed like a nice enough guy, and the triplets were close in the way that triplets tend to be. Why wouldn’t he know?
Bruno, personally, had been expecting a slightly bigger reaction, maybe a sneer or an arrogant toss of her hair. He had spent the entire walk over here psyching himself up for this confrontation and her complete lack of reaction was a bit of a let down. It was almost enough to make him worry he was missing something. He scowled deeper and forced himself to hold eye contact.
He couldn’t let her get to him, he had to be strong. For Pepa.
“What?” Leandra finally said.
“Pepa, you owe her a real apology,” Bruno hissed, “you and I both know you didn’t trip.”
“Do we?” she asked, doubtfully, because it really didn’t seem like Bruno knew what was going on.
Bruno, who indeed did not know what was going on, gestured sharply as he spoke, “Don’t try to act innocent, I was standing right there, I saw you throw that plate of food. Deliberately.”
Leandra stared at him some more. Was there any particular reason nobody had explained the situation to him? Did Pepa not want him to know? What the hell was Leandra supposed to do now!? If Pepa didn’t want Bruno to know, then obviously Leandra couldn’t tell him, but then what was she supposed to say?
On the one hand, she could just tell him what he wanted to hear, on the other…
“Did I?” She drawled, leaning forward and smirking.
On the other, she’d never seen this side of Bruno Madrigal before. She had to admit, she was curious where he was going with this.
“Yes, you did. And you’re going to admit that, you’re going to march right up to Pepa, and you are going to give her the apology she deserves,” he crossed his arms and stared down his nose at her. It involved tipping his head back, since he wasn’t the tallest of men.
She cocked her head, “Or what?”
“Or I’ll ruin any and every chance you have with Cicero.”
Leandra froze, eyes going wide in what Bruno assumed was fear. In truth, she couldn’t believe such a wonderful opportunity had fallen into her lap. Cicero had shown up earlier to “help her set up the stall” and had happily ignored all her insistence that she didn’t need his help, and really she didn’t want to keep him, and she would understand completely if he had someplace else to be. He had slapped on his snake charmer’s smile and told her how kind she was, apparently assuming she was being shy. Come to think of it, he had only left when he saw Bruno coming.
It was never a good idea for a young woman to incur the wrath of a known rapist, but if she could find some way to avoid him without making him angry; if, for whatever reason, the town’s bad omen started following her around and scaring said rapist away from her…
Leandra flipped her hair off her shoulder and did her best to look evil. Bruno stood a little straighter.
“Bruno,” she purred, “I’ll admit, I’m impressed. I always thought you were a bit of a push over. But this, this is a whole new side of you. Confident, imposing even. I like it. Brings out the green in your eyes.”
“Wh-what?” he almost took a step back in his shock, La Reina Malvada wasn’t supposed to compliment him. In the play the evil Queen had, naturally, ignored the princess’ bodyguard and had flirted with her prince.
Apparently unaware that she was breaking the rules, Reina stood from her chair behind the counter, and leaned into Bruno’s space, “Too bad it’s pointless. I’m not going to apologize to Pepa. I have done nothing wrong.”
Bruno’s scowl returned, “You dumped a plate of food on her so you could steal Cicero from her.”
“And how easy he was to steal, he’s been following me around like a puppy ever since. You think you can chase him off? Hah! You’re welcome to try,” she sat back down and leaned back in her chair, looking as smug as she could manage.
“Oh, I will do more than try.”
“Wonderful.”
“Yes. Yes it is!”
There was a pause, silence stretching between them as Bruno did his best to look imposing and Leandra tried to maintain her evil smirk. Eventually he cleared his throat, and she shifted in her seat so she could sit more comfortably.
“Would uh, would you like to sit, or something?” she asked.
“No,” Bruno declared, putting his hands on his hips.
There was another long pause.
Bruno’s feet began to hurt.
“Actually, I would like to sit, so I can um… save my energy for scaring Cicero away,” he said, in the same grandiose tone.
“Claro, come on back, you can sit here, oh do you mind dogs? Leche is back here,” she pulled up a stool for him as he marched behind the stall to join her. Leche lifted his head and his large tail beat against the ground as Bruno got close.
It was a far cry from the stony growls and displeased huffs the dog had made when Cicero had tried to insert himself behind her stall.
“Dogs are fine,” Bruno sat down on the stool and spent some time trying to figure out how to hold his arms so he looked the most scary. Eventually, Leche sat up and put his head in Bruno’s lap, so Bruno gave up on being intimidating and petted the dog instead.
Customers came and went, some of them eyed Bruno but nobody asked why he was there. When lunch time rolled around Leandra shared some of her lunch with Bruno, who hadn’t planned on this being an all day affair.
Maybe he should have brought his own chair, the stool was better than standing but not by much.
“So,” Leandra said, drumming her fingers on the wood top, after they had been sitting in silence for most of the day, “the future, huh?”
“Yep,” Bruno replied, then paused to wonder if he should have hissed or growled his answer at her. He really wasn’t an angry sort of guy, and honestly, it was only his love for Pepa that kept him in that stall. He hoped Reina would apologize soon, he couldn’t imagine trying to be angry for longer than maybe a week at most.
“Anything…, I don’t know, anything fun? Or, or weird? In the future I mean.”
“Man will walk on the moon, eventually.”
“No kidding, really?”
“Si.”
“Huh. That’s amazing.”
Leandra looked up at the sky, even though the moon wasn’t out.
Bruno twiddled his thumbs for a while. If she hadn’t apologized by Thursday he would have to bring something to entertain himself.
The baker who was destined to win that year’s baking contest showed up and Leandra chatted with him as she helped him load his usual order of cheese onto his cart. He asked her if she could use some of her herbs to flavor a special order for him, so he could start experimenting with flavored cheese before the contest.
“He’s going to win,” Bruno blurted, as soon as the baker left.
“Si? Good for him. He’s such a hard worker.”
“Yeah.” He had never shown up at Bruno’s tower, demanding a vision of victory, unlike other bakers Bruno might name. If Bruno wasn’t horrible at remembering other people’s names, that is. There were six bakers in town and he really only knew them by their bread and the visions they had asked for.
The baker that had just stopped by loved to mix things into his bread like cheese, honey, or jams in order to test out different flavor combinations, so Bruno called him Experimental Baker. The guy who visited Bruno for a vision on Sunday leaned heavily into his European heritage for his recipes so he was European Baker. Not to be confused with Croissant Baker, Croissant Baker’s family had moved from France to the Caribbean then Colombia, and he had adapted his grandmother’s croissant recipes to make cheap lunches you could eat quickly. There was Pastry Baker, and Better Pastry Baker, whose names were self explanatory, and finally Dead Dog Baker.
Dead Dog Baker loved dogs and hated surprises. He was a good man, and adopted retired working dogs so he could make the rest of their lives as comfortable as possible. Every time he got a new dog he’d ask Bruno how long he would have with his new pet. If Dead Dog Baker wasn’t constantly asking Bruno to watch dogs die, he’d be Bruno’s favorite repeat customer. He always gave him a thank you basket full of bread, honey, and cheese. It almost made up for how depressing his visions were. Almost.
“Can you hand me my bag?” Leandra pointed at the bag hanging on a hook under the counter, Bruno gave it to her and she pulled out a pen and a notebook. He watched her scribble notes for a little while, then put the notebook away. She hung the bag on the hook on her side of the stall. After a second she reached back into it and pulled out a bag of nuts, offering him some then tossing a handful into her mouth before putting it back.
Bruno fiddled with his ruana for a little. He wondered idly what they would have for dinner that evening.
He glanced at Reina and debated asking her what her name was, but shook the idea off. It’d be too weird to ask after he’d been sitting with her all day. Besides, she would apologize soon enough, anyone who was willing to cross Pepa for a boy must be desperate.
Movement caught his eye, Cicero was standing across the street staring at him. Bruno scowled, crossing his arms. Cicero glanced back and forth between Bruno and Leandra, face pale. Eventually he waved at her then turned tail and fled.
She felt like cheering but did her best to pout for Bruno’s sake. Bruno smirked at the other man’s back, satisfied.
“See, if you don’t apologize to my sister, I’ll make sure that he never comes near you!”
“You can’t guard me all the time,” Leandra pointed out, going for haughty but landing a bit flat. She had explained some of the situation to her father so he officially retired Leche from herd guarding and insisted that she not go into town without him. All the same, she couldn’t help but worry that Cicero would catch her alone somewhere somehow.
“Myeh,” Bruno shrugged, “I don’t have to. Just when you’re in town. Cicero is pretty lazy when it comes to courting, he never once went out of his way for Pepa.”
Leandra nodded, it had been the same way when he was pursuing Rosalie. Belatedly she realized she was supposed to actually like Cicero.
“Hey, watch it! How dare you, you… you uh jerk,” she did her best to look outraged. Sadly, this was her first acting role.
“I’m the jerk?! You threw a plate of food at my sister!”
She pressed her lips together, usually he’d have a really good point, but there were extenuating circumstances here. Fortunately, he didn’t give her time to blurt that out before he steamrolled on.
“Honestly, who even does that? A-and for Cicero of all people. You know that guy chases a different skirt every month, what could-, why would you even-, you don’t actually think he cares about you, do you?”
Another really good point. Leandra scowled at him and sucked on the inside of her cheeks. God, why didn’t Pepa just tell him what happened? Leandra hated lying and she didn’t really want to pretend she was head over heels for that monster if she could avoid it. Then again, Bruno’s presence was the only thing keeping Cicero away, and she didn’t see Bruno offering to guard her if he only knew half the truth.
Time to distract him.
“Oh, come on Bruno, there’s no need to be jealous,” she grinned at him, watching him through lowered lashes. She couldn’t fake outrage, but she didn’t have to fake the mischief in her eyes.
“Jealous?! Me? Of him?” Bruno almost laughed, the idea was so preposterous, “I am not jealous.”
Honestly, he was sort of disgusted by the other man. The skirt chasing, the fact that he never seemed to do any real work, and now the way he’d jumped from Pepa to Reina at the slightest provocation, it didn’t paint a pretty picture of the guy’s character.
“No really, you could easily get just as much attention as he does, if you put a bit of effort in.”
“Wha-? Wait, what?”
“Sure! You’re a very handsome man, I’ll admit, your reputation is a bit of a hindrance, but I’m sure you could work around it,” she snapped her fingers and sat up straight in her chair, “Oh, oh, oh! Or you could use it to your advantage. Play up the whole forbidden fruit angle.”
“Forbidden-. H-hold on, I-I think we’ve gotten a bit off topic here.”
She ignored him and instead held her fingers out in front of her so they framed him like a scene she intended to paint, “Look at that bone structure, the dark lashes, even the way your hair falls into your eyes. You could totally play the bad boy.”
Bruno gaped at her, cheeks growing steadily warmer. He searched for something to say, something that would get his quest for justice back on track.
“Yeah, you’re right,” she hummed, like he’d just made a cleverly crafted argument instead of flapping his jaw uselessly, “you’re way too big a gentleman to pull the bad boy thing off.”
“Hey,” Bruno said, before his brain could stop him, he was about to defend his acting skills but just barely remembered his priorities, “I-I know what you’re doing.”
“Do you?” she fluttered her eyelashes at him.
“Yeah. I mean yes. You’re trying to flatter me.”
“I’m mostly trying to amuse myself,” she said with a shrug, “but sure, why not. That too.”
“Well, it won’t work,” Bruno wagged a finger at her, “you can flatter and flirt all you want. I’m not leaving you alone until you apologize to Pepa for what you did to her.”
“How about pouting and begging? Do you like begging?” she retorted, giving him her most sultry pout.
He sputtered intelligibly for a second, then scowled at her.
“What? You said I could flirt all I wanted,” she made a show of blowing him a kiss and wiggling her fingers at him, “and honestly, I really enjoy flirting. It lets me show off how witty I am without hurting somebody else’s feelings.”
Bruno snorted, “Where was your concern for the feelings of others when you threw food at my sister?”
That gave Leandra pause. She immediately regretted bragging about her wit, because now it was failing her. She really needed to practice this whole pretending to be evil thing.
Bruno tapped his foot impatiently against the leg of his stool, “Well? If you care so much about not hurting people, why did you embarrass Pepa like that?”
“I wanted to get her away from Cicero,” she finally told him. It was the truth, even though he would misinterpret it.
He huffed and shook his head, no longer worried about holding on to his anger, “You two deserve each other.”
Leandra grimaced, but reminded herself that (for some reason) Bruno didn’t know Cicero was a rapist. He definitely didn't mean that the way it sounded to her. She bit her tongue and turned away from him so he couldn’t see the discomfort on her face.
They sat in tense silence until the market closed.

That One Girl 1:
Pairing: Camilo Madrigal x reader
Type: Fluffy-Angst
A/N: Day 4 since I didn't post yesterday :( of my craving for watching Encanto. I hope you enjoyyyy! NOT proofread
Part 2
- You and Camilo have been together for a while. Typical puppy love. You both cling to each other at any given chance and everyone thinks it's adorable and destined to be, except for a certain girl, Mira. She wanted to be associated with the Madrigal family. She wanted the happy life you have. The love that Camilo gives you. She wanted it all. She wanted Pepa and Felix to call her their daughter, not you who they called (Whatever you prefer). She wanted Dolores to tell her all the drama.
- But it seems that the drama Dolores tells you is about Mira. How obsessive she is over Camilo and the family. You understand to stay away from her but that doesn't mean to totally back off. This is your family. They loved you like you were one of them. Camilo knows of her too. He practically jumps into your arms when she's around. Camilo is typically a light-hearted, jokester but when SHE'S around it makes it difficult. He feels the hair on the back of their neck stand up.
- She's bold enough that sometimes she'll come up when you two are on a cute little date and start flirting with Camilo and trying to take him away to which her plan never truly works out because someone is always there to pull her away.
- Most people in the town ship the two of you and even joke about 'when's the wedding?'. The ones who truly dislike it are her family, who tried to push the two into an arranged marriage when the two were simply 12. Pepa and Felix and Abuela refused saying that he, 1) is tooooooo young and 2) He should find their true love on their own. Thus the family is always trying to get Camilo away from you.
- You aren't that threatened by her. It's kinda sad but also funny seeing her glare at you and imagine a life she'll never have. When you two are on a date you make sure to put space in between the both of them because if she gets her hands on him... she's never ever letting go. When she starts trying to shame you for anything or just trying to intimidate you in general you kind of just wait until she's done and do something she can't ever do with him.
- Camilo also defends you. He makes sure that she doesn't put her hands on you because she's definitely has tried more than once. When she shames you for being yourself he makes sure she knows that he's yours, not hers. He totally clings to you when she weird's him out. He does feel bad for you considering you were put in between this.
- In the beginning, you two had a couple of deep conversations that almost ended in her getting her way which is breaking the two of you apart. You doubting that you're worth it or him apologizing over and over almost breaking down completely for putting you through this. But ultimately you both power through and become happier in the end. It's like instead of breaking you guys up Mira helped strengthen your relationship. She made you guys trust each other so much.
- The one time where everyone and I'm talking the Madrigals and pretty much everyone else in town, was totally worried was...
- "Camilo, Y/N's here!" Felix hollered into la casita while inviting you in with a wide grin. Camilo hurried out of their room with Pepa pulling him back and smoothing out his shirt, she looks at him fondly and gives him a little kiss on the forehead thinking about how much her baby boy has grown. He smiles and quickly runs down the stairs towards you.
- "Mi Vida! Y-You look beautiful" Their eyes trailed down your body. Admiration written all over their face. You laugh
- "Thank you mi Amor" You softly grip his chin, making him look directly at you, face red and a weak smile on his face. You move closer and give him a soft, sweet kiss on the lips.
- "You look handsome" You whisper. He gulps then their eyes widen remembering their parents are watching. He turns their head towards them and they are comically weeping watching you two be so lovey-dovey like they were when they were younger. He whispers to you
- "Mi Vida we should probably run while we are still free" You smile and nod grabbing their hand, both of you shouting your goodbyes. After a little while, you both stop and look around. You are both at your special spot which is a tree on top of a hill a little ways away from the town. You both get settled and get close starting to watch the sunset. You both just talk about each other day and wonder what the future will look like for the both of you. Everything was perfect until...
- Mira. She showed up somehow finding this spot. She slides right in between the two of you. Pushing up against Camilo. You deadpan and look at him. He looks at you worried. Mira starts blabbing about her day and how tired she is and how much her parents miss seeing him around and that he should go over for dinner tonight since she and him are conveniently dressed up. You getting annoyed
- "Mira can't you see we're in the middle of a date," you say frustrated.
- "Oh are you? are you sure? you don't really look properly dressed." She makes a hmph sound and turns back to talking to your lover. He continues to push her away but she always comes back. Like a rubber band. You thought everything between you and Camilo were fine but I guess not because of the feeling of jealously and hurt burning throughout your chest. You get up and look at the two of them, hurt. More specifically at Camilo. He looks at you worried because he knows that look on your face. It reminded him of all the time you two would argue over situations exactly like this.
- You look to the side for a second contemplating on what to do but ultimately decide that today is just to much and grab your things and leave. Normally you would laugh and try to make a joke about this but something about today was not right. You leave without looking back, ignoring Camilos shout for their love. But he didn't have to worry considering Mira answered right back
- "Mi Amor I'm right here?" she says innocently. He pushes her off and quickly runs after you leaving that screeching bird behind and running to his true love. He looks in all of your little hiding spaces but finds them empty. He sighs looking defeated and trudges back to la casita. He enters the home depressed and face similar to a kicked puppy.
- There is where he finds you. Their face lights up and he quickly walks toward you.
- "A-ah Mi Vida! I found you! oh, you worried me..." He carefully walks in front of you crouching down to see your cute face but only for you to abruptly get up when he hears someone come down the stairs.
- "Y/n? Camilo? so early what are you two doing back?" says Pepa who is with her mother. You take a deep breath and shout
- "I think it's best that I step back from Camilo and let you guys continue with the marriage between them and Mira." with that you hurried out of there leaving everyone to come out of their rooms shocked. Camilo sinks to the floor staring at the ground, he starts to feel a sting in his chest.
- "camilo? what happened?" asked Abuela. Abuela loved you. She wanted you and Camilo to have a life together. She saw the way you made them so happy. She saw her in Camilo when he is with you and the same goes for you. She finds this odd.

Mama Is Right Here
Mirabel is five-years-old, she sits on her bed with her head in her hands. The white bow in her hair has fallen out, her curls draping over her face. She has been crying ever since her gift ceremony ended just a few hours ago. The house was in chaos, but now even more so since Bruno disappeared. The door to the nursery opens and Mirabel looks up with teary eyes. Julieta smiles at her, with tears in her own eyes and her hands holding two mugs.
“How are you, mija?” She asks in a soft voice, walking to the bed and sitting down next to Mirabel. The five-year-old sniffs a few times.
“Am I broken?” Mirabel asks, her voice wavering. She looks up at her mama and more tears fall. Julieta places the mugs down and brings her daughter into a tight bear hug. She rubs slow circles on the girl’s back as she softly shushes her, whispering kind words.
“You’re not broken, Mirabel, you are perfect.” Julieta hugs her daughter as she cries, her own tears falling because she cannot help her youngest. This isn’t something she can heal. “You’re alright, mama is right here.”
--------------------------------------------------------
Mirabel is sixteen-years-old. She stands in the doorway of Casita, nervously fidgeting with her fingers. She is waiting to be picked up to go on her first ever date, and she cannot be more nervous about it. What if he hates how her hair looks? Does her dress look good? Does the color not work with the rest of the outfit? Was this a bad idea?
“Mira, you okay?” Julieta gently places a hand on Mirabel’s shoulder as to not make the teenager jump. Mirabel turns around, anxiously biting her lip.
“What if it doesn’t go well?” Julieta sees Mirabel’s eyes glisten, and she immediately cups her face and smiles warmly at her.
“It will be fine. He is a wonderful boy who is lucky that you even said yes!” Julieta’s smile widens when Mirabel chuckles at her statement. Looking behind her daughter, she sees a boy quickly walking toward Casita, nervously messing with his hair. She kisses Mirabel on the forehead. “If it somehow doesn’t go well, I’ll be right here when you get back.”
--------------------------------------------------------
Mirabel is twenty-three-years-old, she sits perfectly still as Isabela fixes her hair, lacing white flowers through her curls. Mirabel ponders her image in the mirror. Her hair is tied up in a bun with a white ribbon, her normal blue puffball earrings have been replaced with tiny golden studs, and she wears a beautiful, highly embroidered, white dress. Today is her wedding day. She has been planning this day for months, and yet she cannot help but feel like throwing up. Everything is going well, nothing huge has happened. There is a gentle knock on the door.
“Come in!” Mirabel shouts. The door opens, and she turns to see the visitor. Julieta stops and places a hand over her heart as she basks in the beauty of her youngest. She can already feel the burning sensation of tears welling up in her eyes. She blinks them away and smiles kindly. Mirabel returns the smile.
“Isa, do you mind if Mira and I have a few minutes alone?” Julieta asks. Isabela smiles and nods. She wishes her little sister good luck before leaving. Julieta takes a deep breath and walks over to Mirabel. She sits down next to her and holds her daughter’s hands. “I wanted to see you before we get started. It wouldn’t be a wedding if I didn’t give you these.” She reaches into her bag and produces a sapphire necklace with a silver chain. “I know Luisa gave you something new. I thought it would be right if I gave you something old.” Mirabel’s lower lip wobbles as Julieta places the necklace around her neck. “Your papa gave this to me the day of our wedding. It’ll bring you all the luck you need.”
“I’m scared, mama,” Mirabel says as she touches the necklace. “I want this, I am super happy... but it is just a lot, you know?” Julieta chuckles and smiles.
“It is normal to be nervous. You’ll be fine! I am right here if you need anything, always.”
--------------------------------------------------
Mirabel is ninety-years-old, she lies on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. It has been a busy day, since she hasn’t been able to get out of bed in a while. Her grandchildren have decided that her bedroom is their new play place. It was nice to see them playing and having fun, even though it was loud. She smiles as she closes her eyes, thinking thoughts of her family and what they will do tomorrow. As she drifts off into sleep, her ache in her aging bones seems to fade. A warm breeze gently wakes her. As she opens her eyes, she is blinded by a bright light. She blinks as her eyes adjust to the light. Finally, being able to see, Mirabel looks around. Her mouth falls open as tears quickly rush to her eyes. All of her family she lost over the years are standing in front of her, smiling widely.
Julieta walks forward, not looking any older than the day Mirabel lost her. Her mama cups her face, her hands warm to the touch. Julieta wipes away Mirabel’s tears with her thumbs. A sad smile gracing her lips.
“It is alright mija, mama is right here.”
End.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since I am feeling like shit, here is something from my drafts! Enjoy the warm sadness.
#suddendrabbles#mama is right here#Julieta and Mirabel's relationship is goals#I love them so much#Agustin and Julieta are what I strive to be when I become a parent

Encanto| General Relationship Headcannons|
________________________
Woww yet another hyperfixation, would you look at that
Maybe I'll make a part 2 with the rest of the girls
Characters included : Isabela, Dolores, Mirabel
________________________
• Isabela •
You're so lucky to be dating her
I personally feel like she has very high standards so if you fit them congratulations.
Definitely kept your relationship a secret.
She was too scared to say anything, to her abuela especially.
Dolores of course knows about it, but she promised Isa that she's not going to say anything to anyone.
Her parents became suspicious, as she was spending more and more time outside seemingly by herself.
One day they both decided to talk to Isabela about it.
She had just come back from one of your dates and when she walked in her parents were sitting in the diner table both very serious.
They asked her all of these questions with such seriousness and Isabela knew that she couldn't hide it anymore and that her parents probably already knew about it and now they hate her-
She almost broke down right then and there but her parents were quick to comfort her.
You sure had some petty arguements about the secrecy surrounding your relationship.
After casita was rebuilt and the family finally started healing Isabela came clean about your relationship.
You have cute little dates in the forest.
She loves telling you all about the new plants she learnt how to grow and you love hearing about it :)
She will also glady hear about anything that you like.
Literally has heart eyes every time you get excited when you talk about your interests.
She wasn't used to pda at first and got really flustered whenever you showed affection in public, especially when her family was around.
Now she absolutely loves it, even though she'll still blush like crazy.
Thank the gods for her dark skin
Flowers often sprout on her beautiful hair when you do so and it gives you one more reason to fluster her ;)
You mostly give her neck kisses and she returns them if she's not dying of embarrassment.
She won't admit it but she loves cuddles.
One time she woke up at night but couldn't fall asleep again so she shook you awake and asked you to cuddle with her. You remembered and asked her about it the next morning but she said she remembers nothing.
She did remember it all of course :)
She goes all out on anniversaries and throws a huge celebration, buys you a ton of gifts etc
She's a romantic soul at heart and will pamper you to no end.
Julieta and Agustin love you as their own daughter and Luisa and Mirabel have a great relationship with you.
I think that Pepa will be the most overprotective one from the family.
Gives you the shovel talk while Felix is trying to calm her down.
She can get pretty insecure at times.
She also struggles with a lot of anxiety.
Sometimes she might want to just sit down and angrily vent to you about everything but there are the times that she needs you to gently hold her while she's crying.
Also
Give her compliments all the time please, she thrives off of them.
But not the "oh Isabela you're so pretty and beautiful" kinds of compliments. She's sick and tired of those. She doesn't want you to compliment Señorita Perfecta Isabela, just Isa. Tell her about how good her new dress is or how interesting the new plants she grew are, or about how creative and smart she is.
You were scared of abuela first, be honest here.
I mean who wouldn't be
It took a while for her to fully accept you into the family but when she did, oh boy.
You ARE a Madrigal now, no questions asked, thank you very much.
Includes you in their songs and also the art on the wall in the dinning room.
You shortly move in with Isabela in her room.
Since her room is pretty big she definitely let you have your own space so you can put your stuff and decorate it however you want to.
Might have some communication issues.
I feel like she'd give you the cold shoulder if you did anything that upset her and wouldn't tell you since "you should already know what you did wrong".
All in all she's a pretty good girlfriend and incredibly sweet, she just needs some therapy.
• Dolores •
She's the pretty cousin and such a babe
She loves picnics because it's really quiet and it helps her focus on you and you only
Most of your dates are like that to be honest
You don't want her to get overwhelmed because of her gift, you just want Dolores to relax and have fun.
She absolutely loves pet names and pda
Call her any kind of pet name and she swoons
Be sure that she'll say something flirty back ;)
Is constantly touching you in public in one way or another.
Either that would be lacing your hands together or hugging your arm
Place a sweet kiss to her lips or her forehead and she'll melt immediately.
Probably was the one to say I love you first.
Blushed a lot after and thought that she said it all too soon.
You quickly reassured her and she felt so incredibly happy
If you thought Pepa was protective of her niece imagine how she is with her daughter.
Just mind yourself and don't get hit by lightning :)
I think Felix would love you from the start but would try to be serious and intimidating to support his wife
Camilo would non stop tease you like all the time.
Pull Dolores away before she jumps her brother please
Antonio is just a small kid but if you two get along well Dolores will fall in love with you all over again.
Seeing you get along with her family makes her heart swell in her chest.
Abuela was again a bit reductant when it came to you but in time she accepted that that's who Dolores loves and she can't change her mind.
Maybe Pepa needed to have a talk with Alma and let her know that her daughter won't change her mind and if she doesn't accept it, well that's too bad then.
She swore to you that she won't pry into your conversations with the use of her gift but if she feels jealous she just can't help it.
Totally feels guilty about it after but her insecurities catch up to her sometimes.
If you get mad about it she promises that next time she feels like this she'll just come and talk to you about it.
You were kind of paranoid during the first month of your relationship because you thought that Dolores has heard something embarrassing that you once said or done.
Dolores of course has heard something but she's not cruel enough to tell you that.
You have late night conversations often.
Before you moved in with her you would just talk to yourself and if Dolores was awake she would listen to your monologue with a soft smile on her lips, letting the soft hum of your voice lure her to sleep.
After you moved in you would have actual conversations about many things.
She mostly tells you about her troubles and worries and listens to yours too.
When she's in a good mood she'll tell you about the different kind of gossip in Encanto.
Loves it when you accompany her when she goes about her chores for the day.
She would help you with your chores anytime if you try to refuse she'll insist.
You found out that she can be pretty persistent.
She will cuddle with you if that's what you want but never during summer or hot days.
She's a blanket hogger during winter too, even though winters are still not that cold in Colombia.
I can see you two having fights constantly but it's not serious fights or because there are communication problems between you.
It's just petty arguements as if you're toddlers fighting over the prettiest doll.
"The water has such a beautiful colour, don't you agree?"
"What are you talking about love? Water doesn't have a colour, it's crystal clear. Transparent."
"There's no way you actually believe that hunny. Water is blue. The prettiest blue."
And so on and so forth.
An amazing person makes an amazing partner, who would've guessed?
• Mirabel •
I can't not include her when this is her own movie and she's such a sweetheart.
Would definitely make a dress for you even if you insisted that she doesn't have to.
At least she would make cute little pins or designs and sew them into your clothes.
You're a part of her catchy songs also.
It took her a pretty long time to confess because she was convinced that someone like you could never love the giftless Madrigal child.
So it's no surprise that you actually confessed first.
She's such an awkward and blushy teen.
You guess she took that from her father.
You often tease her and fold over in laughter whenever she trips and falls or slams her head on a palm tree, before checking for injuries and rushing her to her mother.
The villagers absolutely love you and Mirabel, especially the kids.
You entertain them together and most of your dates consist of you two taking long walks in the town's market.
Everybody in the village knew that behind her sunny and bright attitude and smile, Mirabel was miserable. Her family's treatment was slowly eating her up inside. Seeing how you actually made her happy gave them some relief.
The villagers are not the only ones that recognised that.
Julieta and Agustin will be forever grateful for the amount of love that you give their daughter.
Even though they try the hardest to make Mirabel feel better about not having a gift like the rest of thee family abuela isn't really helping with her treatment and Isabela isn't either.
Since you aren't a part of the family as Alma has reminded you a million times you can stand up to her and Isabela when they're being mean and unfair towards your girlfriend.
Camilo jokingly calls you Mirabel's guard dog.
Isabela and Alma excluded, everyone else pretty much adores you.
Luisa tried giving you the shovel talk when she found out you're dating her little sister but she failed entirely when she broke down crying about how happy she's for the both of you in the middle of the act.
You still reassured her that you're not going to break Mirabel's heart.
Family dinners were interesting to say at least.
Isabela insists on calling you 'Mirabel's best friend', while Alma barely throws a glance your way.
Mirabel feels awful about how her family treats you. Just because she's the family disappointment doesn't give the any right to disrespect her girlfriend.
She once broke down in tears apologies leaving her lips non stop.
You quickly pulled her into your arms hushing her and rubbing circles on her back. Taking her glasses off you wipe the tears of her cheeks and gently hold her face in your hands.
"Please don't apologise for your family's behaviour. It's not your fault. They're blind for not seeing how amazing you are and how much I absolutely love and adore you."
She cried more after that.
But it's ok!
You often have to comfort Mirabel but you don't care in the slightest. You love holding her in your arms as if she's the entire world and giving her all the love and affection that she was unfairly denied all these years.
When casita started collapsing you were in the town's square heading back to your own home.
You turned around and started running towards the magical house the moment you realised what's going on.
By the time you reached the top of the hill the entire family was shouting Mirabel's name, looking around worriedly.
You felt your stomach drop.
This sickening feeling didn't leave until Mirabel came back.
You crushed into her arms and didn't stop hugging her until her mother basically pried you of off her.
You didn't immediately forgive her family after everything they put her through but since their relationship was getting better all you could do was just hope for the best.
At least you had an awesome relationship with Bruno.
Ever since he came back you were a breath of fresh air for him and you loved spending time with him and Mirabel.
He was a pretty good guy and his telenovelas were top tier.
Gift or no gift Mirabel is the best and most precious thing in the entirety of Encanto.
And obviously the best girlfriend you could ever dream of having.

Hey, do you remember when I was translating songs from Ukranian version of Encanto?
(Links if you need: Isabela Luisa Mirabel
The family Madrigal
[Mirabel]
Uno
Dos
Tres
Cuatro!
This is our house, here's both older and very young
Live in a song and everyone has their own style
A famile, where each one of us, from granddaughter to grandmother
Need just a little effort for a miracle
Oh! In our family, Abuela is the leader!
Because she found once this place
Oh! In here year by year fortune is pleasing us
Oh! And I'll will finish it right now!
Here's for you is La Famillia Madrigal!
Here's Casita Madrigal!
Rush after us!
Everyone in here is born magically-fantastical
By the way, I'm also Madrigal!
[Townskids]
Look! Here are they!
Who have which gifts?
Oh, I don't remember everything!
[Mirabel]
Wait-wait, be quiet
[Townskids]
Which quiet can be today?
Tell us everything, what are you capable of
Tell us what everyone can do!
[Mirabel]
.... And that's why kids are not allowed to drink coffee
This is Tía Pepa, dictates wether to everyone
And the catastrophe is where the anger floods her over
And Tío Bruno (Not a word about Bruno!)
That's who foretell something
But he disappeared somewhere
Oh, and there's a talent in mommy Julieta too
Oh, her food is healing, praise to her!
Alll the illnesses are healing from work
Try a bit and you're healthy, she fixed everything! (Mom!)
Here's for you is La Famillia Madrigal!
Here's Casita Madrigal! Hey, free the way!
Even if I don't look magically-fantastical
But I'm, my friend, is the same Madrigal!
Here's boys loved daughters Madrigal
Casita Madrigal became their house
So uncle Félix had choosed Pepa, and my daddy (choosed) Julieta
That's how Abuela became grandmother Madrigal!
Come here, come here!
[Alma]
We're appearing everywhere for the miracle
To get the flame, bring it to the people
So every Casa will stand happy
In work for other the flame of the miracle won't slake
Can every generation protect the flame of the miracle
[Townskids]
Wait, who's the cousin and who is the sibling?
Now there's a lot of them?
How don't you confuse them?
[Mirabel]
That's all, that's all, that's all
The three generations have their owns tricks each
So just in time to tell about Grandkids' circle!
(Grandkids' circle)
Big-eared Dolores is irreplaceable in here
Camilo is changeable
Antonío will get a gift too!
And older sisters — Isabela and Luisa
Beauty and strenght is what their gifts are
(Isabela)
Every place brings flowers to her
(Isabela)
Everything is perfect in her
(Luisa, Luisa, Luisa!)
And there's a lot of strength in Luisa
And it's a great addition to the beauty
Alma: Everyone, get ready
Luisa: Coming, Abuela!
[Mirabel]
Because this is La Famillia Madrigal
Like they say La Casa Madrigal
Everyone is born in here magically fantastical
That's what La Casa Madrigal is
Adiós!
[Kids]
And what is your gift?
[Mirabel]
And that's how lives La Casa Madrigal
And I have already said who is the Madrigal in here
This is the tale of the family, not an autobiography!
Every Madrigal deserves attention!
(But what about Mirabel?)
We have Abuela and also Tía Pepa who makes the weather!
(But what about Mirabel?)
Mamá Julieta makes arepas for ours pleasure!
(What about Mirabel?)
Where's dad there's often problems
(What about Mirabel?)
If you want to, can about each of us, still sister and cousins are!
(Mirabel)
For example, Camilo jokes so sweet so you'll cry from laughter!
(Mirabel)
And our Dolores will feel what happens in here from everywhere!
(Mirabel!)
Or this young man is Mariano who wants our pretty girl, but the pretty girl is fooling everyone, but that's all about this, thank you I gotta go!
(Mirabel)
A powerful family!
(Mirabel)
The thing loses it's point!
(Mirabel!)
Mirabel!

𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑽𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆.
𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐇 ; (𝘠/𝘕) was born deaf, one day, she wished that she could listen to a story. Well, Momma 𝐽𝑢𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑡𝑎 is there to help her baby.
ꗰ 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 ; Happy (very late!!!) Mother's day, everyone -!
⊰᯽⊱┈──╌❊╌──┈⊰᯽⊱
(Y/N) was born deaf, though her actions are not silent as her hearing. She's an energetic child, even though the other children are making sure to distance themselves from her.
She didn't mind it at first, but whenever she's having a story-telling class or story time. She'd run away from school then go back to casita as fast as she can, now she's too scared to be left out all alone in cold.
And now, she's busy watching her dearest Mama giving her meals to people as usual, until the town's healer notices her presence.
“(Y/N), Amor, aren't you're suppose to be in school?” she asks in her motherly tone signs or that's what (Y/N) always know, Julieta is making sure not to make her daughter nervous.
“I don't want to...” (Y/N) signs back with dissapointment, enough for Julieta to understand her. The healer soften her gaze then pick her up, “It's okay, i'll tell Camilo to send you your permission letter.” she signs as she give her daughter a delicious arepa.
(Y/N) felt bad for skipping her class almost everyday, but the loneliness keep overwhelming her tiny soul as if it's want to pull her apart slowly and painfully.
“Wait here, i'll be finish in no time.”
With that, Julieta put her daughter down then let (Y/N) sit on a chair while watching her mother helping people who got injured.
She can see all people's lips are moving, though, there is no single sound can be heard by her. And that almost make her crazy. Thanks to Julieta, who's always there for her. Every single time.
Even without signs, she can read from people's lips. So, she knew that if some people are talking some bad things about her. But again, she didn't mind about it. Atleast she couldn't hear what they say.
⊰᯽⊱┈──╌❊╌──┈⊰᯽⊱
The next graceful day, (Y/N) is busy watering some flowers that Isabela just grow. She loved to see the flowers bloom, so she kept them fresh and beautiful even though her eldest sister could grow them again.
She's going to surprise her mother since it's mother's day, so she decided to give Julieta something precious.
“Psst, hey guys - look! It's the deaf girl.” one of the kids whispers to their friends, “should we give her some hearing to help her?” their cackles rang to their ears.
“Definitely, let's give her some real hearing!” the leader of the group stands as he began to walked towards (Y/N) who's still busy watering her sister's flowers.
“Hey, deaf girl!” the leader shouts while throwing her some tiny rocks, the young Madrigal turned around then met one of her classmates. She smiles at first then wave shyly.
Though her smiles falter when she sees their devil smirks, she knew that this is not a good greeting or positive talks. But— just bullying.
Before she can run away, the boys grab her arms then bring her to somewhere else, somewhere far from the casita. She kept struggling to free herself from their grasp as best as she can, but it's no use since they're stronger than her.
“no one can hear you if you scream, stupid. Now let us help you to get your hearing back.” the leader pulls her hair as the kids playfully kick her stomach making her body fall to the ground.
She's hiding her screams as best as she can since they forgot that Dolores could literally hear anything, even from miles away. She felt so hopeless when they kept bullying her.
Though, her mouth is kept shut - her hearings are none but silence, then her soul are broken to pieces. For god's sake, she couldn't move a muscle. Her feet were stuck to the ground in fear.
One of the kids grabbed her by the shirt and punched her in the face. “Hey! I told you just to beat her somewhere else but not her face!” “Oops! Sorry, but her face is making me irritated more and more!”
The deaf Madrigal just stood there, letting the kids take all their selfish feelings out on her as her began nose bleed. (Y/N)'s head started pounding insanely, her legs are shaking.
Before she could stand up again, she felt something hard hit her stomach then everything began to turn black.
⊰᯽⊱┈──╌❊╌──┈⊰᯽⊱
(Y/N) felt a pair of hands are holding her cut ones warmly, slowly, she opened her eyes as she took the bright of the light for her sight again. She turned her head and found her dearest mother was sitting next to her as her tears keep falling.
The little Madrigal hold her mother's hand with the other one to make sure that she's now safe, Julieta gasps when her daughter is awake, she carefully cupped her face to see all the bruises and cuts her daughter received from — that's bad, she doesn't know who did this horrible things to her daughter.
Julieta's hands keep trembling as she signs, “I was so worried when Dolores found you and bring you home, what happened to you? Who hurt you, Amor?”
(Y/N) swears she feels like she could her hear sobbing quitely, so she signs back, “Just my classmates, they hated me because i'm deaf. But don't worry, because (Y/N) is now with Mama—” The young Madrigal hissed when her fresh cuts began to open more.
Panic started to crept all over her body, Julieta take her bunuelos and shoves it to her daughter's mouth immediately. Watching her munching it to taste to wonderful flavor then swallow it with full satisfaction.
(Y/N)'s wounds began to close, her bruises started to fade, leaving some dirts all over her clothes and some on her face. The town's healer sighs in relief when her daughter is now healed.
“I'm sorry i wasn't there for you, it must be so hurt for you to take those ... Hurtful hits from your classmates. I'll tell your tia Pepa to take care of them, let's go wash you up mi bebe.”
Before she could help (Y/N) to stand, her daughter stops her immediately. “Mama, thank you for everything - thank you for loving me, taking care of me and ... I'm so lucky to be your daughter.”
A smile started to form on their own faces, as Julieta let her daughter continue, “You are my saint in this world, i may couldn't hear you, but i can feel you. I—...”
Julieta soften her gaze when (Y/N) is struggling to continue, but then, “I— I lo.. Love you, Mama!” heavens, did Julieta flinches to her daughter's voice? Yes, she speaks for the first time.
The three precious word that Julieta had been waiting to hear from her baby.
She never thought that (Y/N) would speak since she's very insecure about it. But now, this is quite surprising.
Julieta thought she's done crying, but the tears started to form again as she pulled her daughter close to her embrace. Not caring if (Y/N)'s dirty clothes will leave some dirts on hers too, all she cared is her daughter, and that's enough for her.
“Happy— ... M-mother's day, M.. Maa!”
Julieta kiss her forehead, as she spoke in her motherly tone, and keep kissing her daughter's face. (Y/N) isn't complaining though, she loves the kisses from her dearest mother.
(Y/N) swear that she could hear an angelic voice, as she stare at Julieta in those gleaming eyes. “I love you too, mi preciosa - Thank you for the lovely surprise.”
Maybe pulling a little prank to the other Madrigals wouldn't be heard that (Y/N) magically can hear everything now.
Julieta is going to have so much fun with (Y/N), She's not going to waste the mother's day.

Beauty & The Seven Foot Frame
Villain!Bruno Madrigal x Reader
Masterlist!
Chapter One
Chapter two out now!
A/N: I also have this on wattpad my user is chibipeachu
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
Today was the day Y/N Rivera was going to meet her soon to be husband and his family. Y/n sat at her sister’s vanity while her older sister did her hair. “I don't get it, why is màmà doing this to me?” she asked her “It's unfair, you were allowed to marry for love” Veronica opened her mouth to respond but got interrupted by her younger sister.
“And don't get me started on how mama doesn’t force marriage onto the twins!” y/n let out a sigh and sunk into the wooden vanity chair “yes but, y/n you already rejected half of the men mama had introduced you to. And the others were already arranged by the time you thought about giving them a chance” Veronica had finished her sister’s hair “Yes I was fortunate enough that I met victor before mama decided to take things into her hands, but I a good feeling that you and whoever mama set you up with will be a perfect match” she offered a kind smile which y/n only gave a closed one in return.
“Now let's get you dressed before mama has a fit and rushes us...”
"Again" Y/n and Veronica said at the same time which caused them to both laugh, Veronica helped get y/n ready
Her outfit was a ember green skirt that was tea length and a white puff sleeve top that had ember green flowers embroidered across the chest and shoulders and she wore shoes Veronica had made for her birthday a few months ago
There was a soft knock on the door before it opened and revealed their mother "Are you two ready to go now, your brothers are waiting by the door" Y/n sighed and looked at herself in the mirror one final time "Yes mama we're ready" y/n followed her mother out the room door with Veronica shortly following behind.
༻At The Casita༺
As y/n and her family walked up to the madrigal's house y/n noticed a big tower towards the back of the big house.
The casita's doors swung open as a lady who looked to be about in her late 50's early 60’s walked out and greeted the family "Hello esperanza, it's so nice to meet your children” the lady greeted y/n’s mother “Hello alma, these are my sons, fernando and alejandro” her mother pointed to each of the twins
“And these are my daughters, this is my oldest daughter Veronica” Veronica shook the lady’s hand “and this is our youngest y/n” y/n gave alma a smile and shook her hand “It's nice to meet you mrs madrigal” alma gave her a smile in return “come in, come in” alma guides the family to the dining room table where the rest of the madrigals were.
The Rivera's went around and greeted everyone except y/n's soon to be husband, he was missing from the table "Oh Bruno he's currently busy at the moment but I'm sure he won't mind so let's just eat without him!" alma sat down at the head of the table, esperanza on her left and the twins to her right.
Y/n got asked if she could sit next to the little girls who kept smiling at her since she walked in "I'm isabela and this is dolores and the little one is my sister luisa!" one of the girls introduced them and the toddler on julieta’s lap "I'm y/n it's lovely meeting you both" the girls smiled and continued to talk to her all throughout dinner "Girls let her eat" both of the girls fathers said as y/n was to busy listening to both girls stories to even get a bite of her food "It's alright I'm used to it I have a niece around there they're age" y/n smiled as dolores and Isabela stayed quiet for a bit to let y/n take a bite before continuing to talk
During dinner y/n noticed pepa, Bruno's older sister had gotten up and left with a plate of food and a drink, that made y/n curious.
"why was pepa taking a plate to the rooms?"
Y/n's mind was too focused on that to even notice augustin, julieta's husband calling her name "y/n abula says your family isn't from here is that correct?" He asked
Y/n snapped out of her thought's "huh..oh yes my family isn't from here but some of my papa's family lives here still" she explained
Pepa stormed into the dinning room with a thundering cloud above her head "pepa, your cloud!" Alma told her daughter "I'm trying mama, and you know who said go ahead" pepa nodded her head at alma and esperanza "Y/n honey would you please follow us" esperanza asked her daughter who stopped talking to augustin when her mother called her name
Y/n nodded and got up and followed the older women to the courtyard "Y/n we must start to plan for the wedding" alma told the girl who just stayed quiet and nodded
The two women started planning, occasionally asking for y/n's opinion.
At some point the two women had left y/n and went to talk to the priest, leaving y/n behind where she helped julieta with the dishes.
"Julieta..what's Bruno like?"
"He's Silent and cold at first but once you get to know him, he's a gentleman." Julieta replied calmly, Y/n took note of what she said and continued to help clean up.

Goldie (Julieta x Reader)
Julieta knew something was wrong ever since you and Antonio turned down her offer to make cookies with her. Of all her sister's children, Toñito was the one she spent the most time with, if only because he loved being with you and you rarely left your wife's side, so the three of you would end up spending the day together.
She wasn't complaining, she loved her nephews and daughters alike, but the way you two hurriedly left Casita with fake smiles and the silent way you tried to sneak back didn't reassure her. It also didn't help that Casita tried to distract her while you and Toñito walked behind her.
Look, she loved you more than anything, but she also knew you better than anyone, she knew who she married, and she knew you could be chaotic without supervision. And after the couple of visitors they've had at home in the last hour, she'd better make sure you and Antonio weren't in trouble.
The brunette stopped what she was doing, wiped her hands, and took off her apron before going upstairs, a little nervous about what she might find when entering her room. She was a little surprised that you two went into hers and not the boy's, but at least she wouldn't waste time trying to find you in the jungle in her nephew's room.
"Y/N, Antonio, is everything alright here?" she asked, opening the door.
You jumped up and quickly tried to hide something behind you as Antonio rushed to his aunt's side, with a smile so big that his cheeks must be hurting.
"Tía Julieta, hi" he said "the cookies are ready?" he asked nervously
"Maybe you should go back to the kitchen, Juli, we don't want them to burn, do we?" you added
"They are ready and the stove is off, nothing will burn" she answered, raising an eyebrow "now, what are you two hiding?"
"Nothing!" you said a little loudly "Don't worry mi amor, everything is fine, nothing to worry about, why don't you go back to what you were doing? I'm sure you were busy"
"Yes aunty, you looked busy"
Julieta blinked as Antonio tried to gently push her out of her own room. Something was definitely up. She crossed her arms and carefully walked around her nephew, walking back into the room and closing the door behind her.
You swallowed when your wife walked straight up to you and even though you tried to stop her, she managed to get around you and look at what was behind your back. You and Antonio looked at each other nervously while the brunette was silent for a moment.
In front of her was a small fish tank, with a small goldfish happily swimming back and forth. Strange, yes, but perhaps at another time it would have been cute. However, one of the visitors that afternoon came quickly to Julieta's mind and she turned to you, her eyes wide.
"Please tell me that's not the fish Sra. Pezmuerto has been looking for. Tell me the truth" she said
"Well, I can't do both, Julieta!" you said, shrugging
"Y/N!"
"What?"
"You stole a fish?! And you took Antonio with you?!" she scolded you
"No, no, no. We rescued it" you corrected her "besides, technically, he took me"
Julieta looked at you puzzled before looking at her nephew. Antonio looked down at his feet and fiddled with the edge of his shirt for a moment. He didn't like it when his aunt looked at him as if he had done something wrong.
"Pollito?" she softly asked "what happened? and I want the truth"
"I...I heard him, tía" he replied meekly "I was passing by Sra. Pezmuerto's house and I heard him asking for help, so I came for Y/N to help me. He was suffering, he was dying in that little fishbowl, tía"
"Toñito couldn't keep hearing him scream, Juli" you said softly
Julieta was silent for a moment. She knew that her nephew's gift, like those of the entire family, might sound wonderful, but it had a less beautiful counterpart. It was not uncommon for Antonio to come to you or to her sad for having heard what nature had in store for animals according to the food chain. But it was the first time he had tried to intervene, so it really must have been too much for him.
"This is different from the food chain" Antonio said as if reading the woman's thoughts "This fish was suffering because of a lady who doesn't know and isn't interested in learning how to take care of it...it wasn't fair"
"Did you enter her house?" your wife asked you, briefly ignoring the boy.
"No" you promised "She had him on the patio. In the sun. Anyone could have taken it."
"Doesn't mean you should have!"
"He was dying, Julieta!"
Julieta looked at you for a moment and then at Antonio before sighing. You had a good point. She was in no way supporting the robbery, but she had to admit that this woman had already lost many fishes several times, before and after Bruno's vision, so something must be wrong with her.
"Then may I ask why you brought him here?" she said "Why not to Toñito's room?"
"Because Pepa will inevitably search his room once she knows the fish is missing" you said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Why didn't you release him into the river?"
"He's small, he doesn't know how to survive alone" Antonio said "besides, they took him out of there, they could fish him again"
"That doesn't answer why you brought him here" Julieta raised an eyebrow
"You have a huge garden with a big pond in the middle of your room, Juli" you said "don't be selfish"
Your wife jumped a little at your tone, but she rolled her eyes lovingly at the slight smile that tugged at the corner of your mouth. You really knew how to drive her crazy.
"Please, tía" Antonio begged "can he stay here?"
"Please, Juli" you joined him "I'll do whatever you want"
Julieta looked at the two of you, hating how her will immediately broke at the puppy faces you were making. She should consider treason that you had taught Toñito one of your best weapons against her.
"Fine" she sighed in defeat "but you're going to take care of him" she said, pointing to Antonio "and I'll talk to you later" she pointed to you
"Yes, tía!"
"Yes ma'am!"
You and Antonio high-fived before he hugged his aunt's legs and she rolled her eyes as she patted his head.
"You're the best, mom hen" he said
“I know, Pollito”

"You have to admit that little Goldie brings an extra touch of life to the garden, mi amor" you said, hugging your wife from behind.
The brunette rolled her eyes, remembering the awkward moment she had to go through at dinner when her sister asked Toñito if he knew anything about the missing fish. On the one hand, she supposed it was a good thing that the sweet boy didn't know how to lie, but that had left you and her juggling to cover up your little crime.
"Goldie?" she asked, turning in your arms to look at you with a raised eyebrow.
"Antonio said that was his name" you shrugged your shoulders "And I'm not going to judge anyone's name, especially a fish’s"
"I guess it fits" she admitted
Your pulse quickened a little as she smirked and wrapped her arms around your neck to draw you closer to her. You could smell the cinnamon and apple, mixed with something that was just her. It was intoxicating.
"But if I remember correctly, you said you would do anything if I let Goldie stay."
"And I suppose you already have something in mind?" you smiled, putting your hands on her hips
Julieta's smirk just widened before she pulled you in for a deep kiss. Her tongue quickly found a home in your mouth and from the firm way she dominated the kiss, you knew you were in for one of those rare but beautiful nights when she was in full control.
"Bed, now" she ordered when she broke away
"Yes ma'am"
