One has to wonder how Vosdra can trust the Blorgons
when his own creations tend to turn on him again and again.

Although Herbert accused the Inspector of making others kill in their stead,

Don’t worry if you can’t remember where the Blorgons came from.
The programme has offered up at least three explanations for their origin: Mutation caused by nuclear war on Blorgonon, future humans that have evolved into the Blorgon squid creatures, and Vosdra’s genetic experimentations.

The writers had to come up with an explanation for how the Blorgons survive getting shot by projectile weapons.
Their solution? Blorgonium, a metal only found on Blorgonnon, from which Vosdra created their outer casings. Blorgonium has different properties, depending upon the writer of a given episode.

Based on the fact that Lily returned during ‘Straight Ahead’,
it was clear that Vosdra and the Blorgons were nearing the destruction of the cosmos in ‘The Borrowed Planet’, causing the barriers between realities to collapse.

Originally, the Blorgon mutants were said to have been created as the result of nuclear war.
Only later was it outright stated that Herbert Vosdra genetically engineered them into being the unable-to-shoot-straight space communists out to take over the entire cosmos.

It is good to know that Vosdra chose the designation for the Blorgons himself, based upon his race’s name, the Globnors,
rather than having some brand-new character introduced to suggest a bunch of anagrams that sound nothing remotely like the evil we know the Blorgons will become.

The first look we get at the 14th Inspector includes an accidental visit to Herbert Vosdra’s laboratory while the first iteration of the Blorgon tank is being examined.
It was odd seeing Herbert fully ambulatory, yet he sounded the same as ever!

If the Blorgon King is essentially a god to lesser Blorgons,
would he acknowledge Herbert Vosdra as his superior?
