my full piece for @empires-rainbow-zine! i’m SO happy with how this one turned out. i feel like i really accomplished a lot with my art in 2023 and became so much more comfortable with backgrounds and rendering, and this one in particular stands out to me as one of my best pieces of the year :]

Red Robin did not collapse into a panic attack when he and Nightwing landed on Bernard's fire escape.

Because that would be unprofessional.

But he did have to grab Nightwing's wrist so tightly Nightwing hissed his next breath in because Bernard, the love of his life, so smart and handsome and loving and the dumbest person Tim had ever met - what was he DOING - was standing next to a Talon. Holding it's arm and explaining the difference between whipping and folding as the Talon turned it's face away from him and toward the window.

"Bernard." Red Robin did not whimper, or plead, or in any way show how much he wanted to punt the Talon away from his (stupid, reckless, wonderful) boyfriend. "Please step away from the Talon."

"Red Robin!" Bernard said cheerfully, easily tugging the mixing bowl out of the Talons hands, "Muffins are in the oven, we've also making pancakes." Bernard's brow furrowed, meeting Red Robin's and Nightwing's eyes through their masks. "Also please don't be rude to Eugene, I've decided I'm keeping him."
