This is wild to me but maybe someone who knows more about skating than I do has an explanation for this! I was rewatching VM’s SFTD at ACI 2017 (niche, I know) and Nicole Kuzmichova’s 2017 ACI SD dress is the same dress (or at least it looks like it) as Piper Giles’s 2022/3 RD dress. The purple with the back beading is pretty distinctive. I read that Nicole trained with Carol Lane. Thoughts?! Is it common to recycle dresses like this? (Only other case I can think of is Leia Dozzi wearing Tessa’s HHCC dress for part of this season).

It seems kind of common for skaters to borrow dresses, but what's unusual about your example is that you don't see it often in the very very top teams - but Yuka Orihara is wearing one of Anna Cappellini's dresses for their RD this season. Besides Leia, if you go back a couple seasons, Lily Hensen wore Tessa's Seasons dress, and Layla Veillon wore one of her DALD dresses. In Beijing at the Olympics, Alysa Liu didn't have a gala dress, so Olivia Smart lent her her Proud Mary RD dress. Tonight even, Phebe Bekker in the World Juniors gala maybe wore Helena Carhart's FD dress

FS dresses can be so expensive - it's nice if they can find a second life worn by someone else

somehow KanaDai retiring took me by surprise 🥲 like yes he’s 37, but he was just starting to get more confident as an ice dancer. maybe ending at a home worlds with a crowd who loved them was how they wanted to go out❤️

so now Marina has the two Carhart sisters’s teams remaining- Adrienne who skates for Azerbaijan and Helena for the US

listening to chock/bates’s podcast on my drive- the nyc trip they made just after WTT was because they were keynote speakers at the conference for clean sport, which involved not just reps from the big league pro sports but scientists and reps from anti doping agencies like WADA and USADA - that passing around their empty medal boxes from the Beijing team event felt meaningful and symbolic in that company

and then Laurence Fournier-Beaudry flew in so she could help Madi wedding dress shop at Monique Lhullier and Vera Wang (they said she’s buying off the rack not custom). the wedding is 2024

Leah Neset and Artem Markelov came up from seventh to dominate the Free Dance by over thirteen points to win gold at US Nationals by less than a point. Overnight leaders Helena Carhart and Volodymyr Horovyi won the silver. Jenna Hauer and Benjamin Starr won the bronze, and Elliana Peal and Ethan Peal won the pewter.
