The drones are sentient, that much is obvious, they make decisions for themselves, they feel, they love, just as we do.

To answer your other question, do we as humans have souls? Is there something else aside from our flesh and neurons tying us here for some greater purpose?

If there is, then yes, of course the drones would have souls, because we made them in our image, made them to feel, to think, to have desires just as whoever created us did. The only difference being material. And when they died they would go where all souls go (for whatever you believe in.)

If we're just flesh and nerves driven by evolution, electrical signals and brain chemistry then the gap is still nonexistent, as we would be the same, substituting skin for silicone, micro chips for brain matter, and we're all still controlled by electrical signals.

Either way, I see no difference.
