#He turned Kup into his kind-of-puppet and was ready to mind control him

I know a lot of people resent the way Prowl is portrayed in the IDW comics, but I personally love it. I think he exists on such a nice thin line between good and evil. Is he a horrible person? Yes. And no. But in context, yes. But in an additional context, no.
Does he deserve everything that happens to him? No. But if you check his history of actions, yes. But if you put those actions in the context of the war, then no. Can other characters put his actions in the context of war? Not always.
Was he wrong? No, he was right. But also, morally he was terribly wrong,...except when he wasn't. But history would have judged him as right.
And at the end of the day, (I'm pretty sure..) he doesn't have a sad wet kitten redemption arc. Because he doesn't regret anything. What a wonderful mess
thinking about Prowler thinking about how nobody figured out he was being controlled thinking about how everyone sees him as the bad guy even if they’re on the same side thinking about how even STARSCREAM becomes an important figure with (some) allies yet Prowl goes feral because of everything thinking about how the only people to support Prowl were the ones he was forced to mind-meld with thinking about all his relationships ending with others hating him thinking about
#maccadam#prowl#idw prowl#He was mind controlled and it was terrible yes#but also#He turned Kup into his kind-of-puppet and was ready to mind control him#and actually did it once#and if I remember correctly he didn't apologize for that#He did it to Kup#for the idea#and then got controlled himself by Megatron#also for the idea#you can see this trash bin burning different colors#I know Tfa Prowl is quiet and calm and soft and sunshine in general#and I know a couple other versions of him are just “I do what is right” and then proceeding to do the most vanilla clean strategic decisions#but IDW Prowl. oh man.#he does the right thing but the whole time you look at him you are actively trying to decide what the fuck would be the right thing#he solves the trolley problem by pulling the lever so no one else has to do it#which technically makes him a murderer in everyone's eyes
