So I just looked at Hikari English translation lyrics for the first time...
IT'S DEFINITELY FROM KH1 RIKU'S POV I'm going insane it's so him.
It shows how he is alone and that he got separated for Sora. He forgotten his destiny probably referring to his Kingdom Key going to Sora. Then he is referred to as light he awakens in the middle of the night.
Now the light is sometimes referred to him or Sora. Because to Riku, Sora is light.
He wishes he can tell him but he's scared and repressed his feelings. And he always wants to be together with Sora. Because with Sora who he views as light, he'll be fine when it's In the middle of the night when it's dark such as when he was going through a dark place in KH1
He's like turn everything off, don't do anything else but look at me. It gives KH1 Riku vibes so much.
He's still in his "I'm definitely not gay" phase and says he doesn't believe in us completely
But with Sora, he views as his Light
Riju wants to continue being with him and just want Sora to only pay attention to him.
And the thing about light, Riku is the light but to Riku, Sora is His Light.
They are each other lights.
Riku once said in the novels, Riku looked away from Sora because he was dazzling. For Riku he was too bright or dazzling.
And these are just some of the main stanzas I have thoughts on from it being about Riku
My thoughts on Chikai
#kingdom hearts#soriku#simple and clean#hikari#kh hikari#kh simple and clean#riku#kh riku#sora#kh sora#Riku is the light#but Sora is also His Light#Hikari is gayer than I remember#Riku kh1 is so stupid in an entertaining way#He gets jealous so easily and only want sora to have his attention#Is it gay to want your best friend to look only at you and nothing else?#Also how is this from anyone else's POV?#like it's definitely not Kairi#It's not Sora it's about Riku during KH1#it doesn't even have to be romantic but it's about him being jealous and how he feels towards Sora

Fighter #09 - Luigi
- Luigi’s kinda scared of portrait paintings. He hates going past the 'Everyone Is Here' mural in the first floor hallway because he feels like Sora’s eyes are following him.
- He usually gets put on laundry duty. The laundry machines in the mansion are super high-tech with tons of random settings, so when Luigi first saw them, he got really confused. He nearly blew up the dryer twice trying to figure out which button started the wash.
- A history buff, Luigi has read every historical book he could find in the library.
- Back in the day, Luigi actually developed and sold his own energy drink. It was an instant hit, but then Waluigi convinced him to take a bad deal and he lost the rights to everything.
- His favorite chore to do around the mansion is vacuuming. He's had plenty of experience with a vacuum from both practical and impractical standpoints.
- He gets flustered when someone compliments him, especially if that someone is Daisy.
- Luigi is, without a doubt, the king of belly flops.
- He has a hidden talent for modeling.
- He’s honestly surprised by how many fans he has. He thought Mario would get all the attention (not that he minds, he usually doesn’t like being in the spotlight anyway).
- Luigi still gets scared easily, but he’s built up a stronger fear tolerance thanks to the multiple haunted locations he's been in.
- He was bullied back in high school, but now those bullies look up to him.
- Roy ruthlessly teases him all the time, but it's all in good nature.
- He prefers his birthdays to be celebrated in a low-key way, but living in Smash Mansion makes that impossible.
- He used to have severe arachnophobia. Once, Roy captured a spider and dangled it in front of Luigi's face to freak him out. It worked, but it worked a little too well. Luigi jumped so high from being scared that his head hit the ceiling. He had to stay in bed for a couple days afterward. Roy ordered him some pizza as an apology. Since then, Luigi was able to overcome his fear of spiders.
- This poor guy has a lot of nightmares, as well as some confusing dreams. One of his strangest ones was of Incineroar chasing him on a treadmill. He has no idea what that was about.
- He takes melatonin gummies every night.
- Luigi sleepwalks a lot and usually wakes up to find himself outside.
- He formed a drama club with Robin, Chrom, Lucina, Hero, Zelda, Byleth, Marth, and Rosalina. They invited a couple more fighters to join, but those are still pending. They get together every week and perform plays with each other. They're really enthusiastic about it; they have homemade costumes and everything.
- He has a bowtie collection. Each one is for a different occasion, some of which are extremely specific. One of his favorites is a green one with white polka dots, which is worn only for eating pizza on a Thursday.
- Luigi is better at pinball than Waluigi. The scrawny villain refuses to admit it, but it's true.
- For their first date, Luigi and Daisy went strawberry picking.
- Luigi is a menace with a water gun during the summertime. Seriously, this dude has a sniper shot.
- He gets sunburns easily and could probably burn in fluorescent lighting if he tried hard enough. One time, Ridley wanted to be mean and see how long it took for him to get a sunburn. When Luigi wasn't looking, he snatched his sunscreen. It only took about ten minutes for Luigi to become as red as a lobster. Ridley was quite literally rolling on the floor, howling with laughter. For the rest of that week, he couldn't pass Luigi in the hallway without snickering.
- Luigi has sensitive skin, so he uses special soaps, creams, and lotions that are nice and delicate. All of them are scented with tea tree oil.
- Waluigi keeps trying to steal his girl. Bro thinks that if he just gives her a rose and a flashy smile, she'll fall head over heels with him. He believes that he has what the kids call "W Rizz". Luigi's secretly jealous because he thinks Waluigi has more charm than he does. Because of this, he’s kinda scared that Daisy will leave him, but in reality, he has nothing to worry about—Daisy loves this adorable dork. Besides, Waluigi's the type of guy to actually like the scent of Axe Body Spray. Him and Wario both.
- Inuit kisses (nose nuzzles) and boops on the nose are Luigi and Daisy's primary forms of affection.
- Mario constantly has to remind him that Diddy Kong is DK's nephew, not his son.
- He and Mario used to be paper boys when they were younger. Whenever Luigi sees a newspaper, he gets nostalgic.
- He cries every time he watches a sad movie.
- Luigi ate a bad shroom outside once and had the weirdest trip ever. He honestly doesn't remember much about it other than that it was weird. Diddy Kong found him lying outside muttering something about a big, black tumbleweed coming to take his soul.
- He can pop his shoulder out of his socket at will.
- He can also make fart noises with his armpit. Mario's been jealous of this since the third grade.
- Whenever he greets somebody, he uses finger guns.
- Whenever he takes a shower, he blasts music and quietly sings along.
- Bewear is his buddy. Luigi wants to hug him so badly, but doesn't want to get his spine crushed.
- He dropkicked Wario once for insulting Daisy. After that, he kept Daisy's name out of his mouth for good.
- His favorite song from the Smash soundtrack is the Luigi’s Mansion main theme from Ultimate. This went from a tune he sang when he was scared to a song he plays when he's about to get crafty on the battlefield.

The relationship between the Yagami siblings
The above line is possibly one of the most vital lines in contextualizing the relationship between the Yagami siblings, but is all too often omitted, and so it can lead to a lot of other questions about whether Hikari has dependency problems or whether Taichi has a natural tendency to be overprotective (also not helped by the fact that Hikari’s own voice actress, Araki Kae, was very fond of joking about Hikari having a brother complex). Once the proper context is applied, however, the relationship between the two ends up saying a lot about both individually!
That's the kind of girl she is! She's always thinking about other people before herself, and she'll never tell anyone that she's in pain or having a hard time, even if it kills her! The thing is, she might not have even wanted to come to this stupid world at all...But when people tell her that the fate of the world is in her hands or something, she could never refuse!... ...That's why...That's why I'm supposed to look after her and protect her...
The summary of everything going on between the two siblings at the time of Adventure has to do with the following:
Hikari is “always thinking of other people before herself” (i.e. she “doesn’t want to be a burden”, a very common sentiment among these very selfless kids in Adventure and 02), and therefore will accept massive burdens or pain on herself because she doesn’t want to trouble others. Because of that, she also will not speak out about her pain, simply suppressing it and pretending that everything is fine, while working for others’ sake.
Even Taichi has no idea what she’s thinking, because she’s so bad at vocalizing what she wants or is actually feeling that he has to guess. While he’s obviously emotionally compromised and thinking the worst of everything at the time of the above incident in Adventure episode 48, he also states that “that’s the kind of girl she is,” which implies that the above incident where Hikari got pneumonia was not an isolated incident, and therefore that Hikari has a repeated pattern of behaving like this. Hence, why Taichi has to keep stepping in -- he has to constantly assume the worst and go overboard, because Hikari will not do anything for herself if left to her own devices.
Both siblings are characterized as “dangerously self-sacrificial”; Taichi will recklessly risk his own welfare if it’s for the sake of others not getting hurt, whereas, as just indicated here, Hikari will refuse to burden other people even if it leads to her own personal destruction. This is not the only time Adventure has portrayed the negative aspects of being too selfless (it’s also a huge theme of Sora’s character arc), and it’s also why Hikari so easily offers herself up at the end of Adventure episode 36; it’s not just about Taichi! Hikari just puts others before herself by default to the extent that, while doing something for herself is hard to do, doing things for others is a no-brainer.
This is also why Hikari’s actions of “clinging” to Taichi in Adventure episode 21 shouldn’t be contextualized as her being clingy to him and wanting him there for her own sake -- remember, the point that was made is that Hikari thinks so little about what she wants that she doesn’t even consider her own wishes as an object, so the reason she bids for them to “stay” in this episode is because she knows he’s been in another world, a potentially dangerous one, and is about to go back and risk his own welfare for it. Since her attitude revolves around “other people’s sake”, it’s natural that she’s not going to be very enthusiastic about her brother and their new friend heading back to the unknown like that. (Remember, she seemed to be fine with him being out at camp and being away from her for prolonged periods of time in general.)
Which is especially enhanced when we see the context of why Taichi has his massive freakout in Adventure episode 48, and the way Hikari behaves in both the episode and the flashback:
The conflict in the episode was kicked off by, once again, Taichi being unable to tell what Hikari was thinking or feeling, and underestimating how much pain she was in, while Hikari had been suppressing it because of her selflessness. As Taichi says, he can’t tell if Hikari had wanted to come, or if she had simply come out of “obligation” regardless of how she’d felt.
And, in the flashback depicted, again: Taichi hadn’t insensitively dragged Hikari out, he had legitimately thought she was fine and misjudged her condition, and Hikari had agreed to go out without protest, only for that to be very much not the case. And when Hikari returned, she had no blame for him and only continued to blame herself for ruining his fun. So, again: Hikari doesn’t even think of herself, and only thinks about how much of a burden she’s being on others, and the incident (and presumably others) had brought Taichi into the understanding that he cannot use what Hikari says about herself as an accurate bar for how she’s doing.
The Character Complete File gives us a bit of an interesting tidbit about Taichi and Hikari’s home lives, in that, if you pay attention, you’ll notice that the Yagami siblings don’t share a room anymore by the time of 02. According to both Taichi and Hikari’s testimonies, Hikari had “constructively” kicked him out by hint-hinting that she was actually not very fond of sharing a room with him and was embarrassed by it! She does eventually admit that it’s a bit lonely without the second person around, but she’s very happy to claim her room as “my own little castle”, and, moreover, with the above context, you can imagine that she, once again, might have been self-conscious about being a “burden” on him due to both of their spaces intersecting too much.
So when we do get to 02...
The line from the second screenshot is the most commonly cited line about Hikari’s attitude regarding her brother in 02, but recall that this is from Hikari basically doing her own version of rambling incoherently. The actual context clue required to decipher this comes from earlier in the episode, when, drowning in the negative atmosphere and impact the Dark Ocean is having on her, Hikari has a vision/flashback of saying “I’m sorry” to her brother. Remembering that the Dark Ocean is heavily associated with “negative emotions”: what does “I’m sorry” mean? “I’m sorry” -- or, in other words, “I caused you more trouble again.” So when Hikari says that “my brother always protected me”, she’s basically saying “I’ve been burdening my brother by making him protect me all of the time,” and the fact that she pairs this with a statement “the next time they call me, I may end up there” is one about inevitability -- she does not like the idea of continuing to burden him, and is letting horrible things happen to her because she would rather not keep doing this to him.
This is what threads the apparent “contradiction” between Hikari supposedly being so “quiet” about certain things yet so assertive about others -- Hikari has never shown any hesitation about putting her foot down assertively when it’s about other people’s sake, but it’s always about her own sake and her own feelings when she suddenly clams up. Tailmon even alludes to it herself in the episode:
Hikari is “strong”, and she’s shown it many times -- she’s assertive, brave, and heck, in this very same episode, the moment she realizes the “Hangyomon” need help, she doesn’t even hesitate to do her best to help them even at the risk of pain to herself! But she’s not going to make it until she can accept the help of others instead of denying everything out of worry for being a burden, which is why the issue starts to resolve a little when Hikari finally breaks down and admits that she wants others to help her, including Takeru, whom she had spurned earlier during the episode.
Hence, this is why the “follow-up” to this episode, 02 episode 31, doesn’t involve Taichi at all -- but it does involve a continuation of the same thing about Hikari’s problem, and she even confirms what Taichi had said about her back in Adventure episode 48, that she won’t vocalize her own problems. On top of that, she adds another layer to it: Hikari compulsively suppresses her own problems to the point she’s outright jealous of Miyako for being able to vocalize them. Hikari’s “selflessness” problem is so bad and self-destructive that even she realizes it’s a problem and wants to do something about it, but literally cannot. This is how bad her problem is, and why none of her actions to this point can really accurately be read as her being clingy or wanting to do anything for truly selfish reasons; this problem of “self-destructive selflessness” was so bad that even she didn’t like this about herself. And, hence, why she felt like she was “burdening” her own brother while she was at it -- it was a problem she did with everyone, but since he was one of the people she knew and trusted the most (having literally grown up with him, and all), it had been the worst with him.
Therefore, Miyako is able to address this issue even without Taichi being involved at all, because the problem wasn’t really about Taichi -- but 02 is a series about the importance of relationships and accepting a need to grow with the help of other people, and therefore, Miyako addressing Hikari’s issue of being so closed-in, and encouraging her to seek help and stop accepting her own destruction just to not “burden” others, is likely to help her have a better relationship with her brother in the future.
...although, by this point in 02, this really was more of Hikari’s own issue than it was Taichi’s by this point, because Taichi treats his sister pretty “neutrally” over the course of the series -- when Hikari’s stranded in the Digital World in 02 episode 7, Iori’s the one more panicked than he is, and he’s mostly just concentrated on having an alibi for her to come back with. And he has zero problem with her flinging herself into dangerous situations over the course of the year, including the stakeout trip started in 02 episode 18 (and for what it’s worth, Hikari herself clearly had no issue flinging herself into such a situation). And when he discusses the issue of the new kids in the 02 group having to accept that killing an enemy will soon become an inevitability in 02 episode 43, it’s a pretty serious conversation with him advising her the way he would have advised any of his other juniors.
This is why context is so important! Taichi had said, back in Adventure episode 48, that he’d hovered over her because he’d had no clue what she was thinking, and would have to take extra precautions because she could easily get herself killed like that. But in 02, it’s not like she was constantly suffering a cold, and it’s a lot more obvious that her actions throughout the series were because it was what she wanted to do, regardless of the risks, so it’s her right to do whatever she wants, and therefore he leaves her to it; she’s clearly doing a much better job taking care of herself, so there’s no reason for him to step in.
Hikari also takes his advice at face value and doesn’t have any particular weirdness about it; she’d never put him on a pedestal or anything, she just still happened to have very self-destructive tendencies that were ultimately resolved with the help of the rest of the 02 group. Often submitted as Hikari having proof of putting him on some kind of weird pedestal is her reaction in 02 episode 4, when she gets angry at Daisuke for being disrespectful about an older sibling, but this omits the fact that Yamato (being a very offended older sibling) got in on it too; the point was more about the disparity between Daisuke and Jun’s more vitriolic relationship compared to the more mutual-esteem relationships between the Ishida-Takaishi and Yagami siblings, plus the fact that, even if the perspective was different, Daisuke was being pretty harsh about his wording (he outright says he hates his sister...).
This is also presumably why, when everyone is presented with illusions regarding their personal worries in 02 episode 49, Hikari’s is the only one that has no relation to her family or home life whatsoever. She has nothing to really worry about with her home life, and Taichi seems to be fine and she has no particular interest in what he does as long as she’s not burdening him further. Rather, again, her character was largely about “doing more for other people than doing anything for herself,” so of course, her “dream” ends up being about everyone else in the world being happy.
In the end, it was more about her larger issues of her relationship to “other people” versus her relationship to “herself” than anything else -- it was just impacting the siblings the most since they were, well, siblings.

Fluff Alphabet-Trafalgar Law
Since no one wanted to send me any Law requests, I took matters into my own hands and did this. I got the prompt from @dragonprincess18 so thank you for this because I needed it! :)
*********
A-Activities: What do they like to do with their boyfriends/girlfriend? How do they spend their free time together?
For the most part, if you’re on the sub with him and there’s nowhere to go but yours and his rooms, his office, and the kitchen area he prefers to stay in his office and room because he enjoys the quiet. Law absolutely loves reading with you. Especially if you’re reading one of his medical books and you ask questions about it. He just really likes that you’re interested in it and want to learn more. He also likes that you know about this kind of stuff in case you need the information. If you do know that he likes Sora, Warrior of the Sea, (he will try to hide it) then he’ll probably geek out once or twice about it. You can’t help but smile when he talks about it so in depth because you love seeing him talk about something he enjoys. If you aren’t on the sub and you’re on a new island, he will begrudgingly (he secretly loves it, but won’t admit) explore the town with you as long as the last stop is a book store of some sort.
B-Beauty: What do they admire about their boyfriends/girlfriend? What do they think is beautiful about them?
He admires how much you care about him. He can see how much you do and he hasn’t had someone like that since Cora. He melts on the inside when he sees you smiling at him and he’s the reason for it.
C-Comfort: How would they help their boyfriends/girlfriend when they feel down, have a panic attack, etc?
He understands what it’s like and sometimes because from time to time he’ll get them when he’s alone. It depends on how you want to be comforted. If you don’t want to be touched, he won’t. He’ll probably just go to the kitchen and get you something warm to drink to help you calm down. But if physical touch helps you, he’ll have you sit on his desk and he’ll rub your thigh or he’ll let you sit on his lap while he rubs your back up and down or cards his fingers through your hair. He’ll reassure you that everything is going to be okay and it’s going to pass and it’s not going to last forever. He lets you talk about it after it’s over and listens to what you have to say. Law will give you advice on what he thinks will help you in whatever situation you’re in. When he sees you sad, he just wants to hold you because he hates seeing you sad. He’ll bring you your favorite comfort drink and food to his room with you (even though I think he’d hate having food and drinks in his bed, he would absolutely make an exception for you) and you guys will just cuddle together while you talk about what’s wrong.
D-Dreams: How do they picture their future with their boyfriends/girlfriend?
Law doesn’t exactly think very far. He’s basically on a suicide mission so honestly he doesn’t see a future yet. Once everything is over and if he survives then he starts to think about his future with you because he really doesn’t want to get your hopes up. He really just always wants to be around you and as long as you’re there with him, everything is perfectly fine.
E-Equal: Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?
He’s a little bit of both, it depends on the day. I’d say he very much tends to be on the more dominant side but there are days where he’s just kind of, whatever about things. That’s only when he has time to relax and that’s almost never.
F-Fight: Would they be easy to forgive their boyfriends/girlfriend? How are they fighting?
I think you’d probably fight with him about how he’s so willing and ready to throw his life away for his causes and how much it bothers you. He says some hurtful things that he’ll admit that he only said out of anger. He’ll be angry for a while but eventually he’ll go and talk to you about the fight and apologize for what he said to you.
G-Gratitude: How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their boyfriends/girlfriend do for them?
He’s very grateful for the things you do for him but he may not show it all the time. Like when he forgets to eat and you bring him something that you made for him. He’s also very aware that you take care of him better than he takes care of himself in terms of making him eat and drink water instead of coffee for once.
H-Honesty: Do they have secrets they hide from their boyfriends/girlfriend? Or do they share everything?
He hides a lot. Law is not a very open person and I don’t even think he’s told his crew about his entire past. You might be an exception but honestly, don’t count on it. It’s difficult to get him to open up about himself and you do have to pry a lot. He might get a little annoyed, but when you tell him that you just want to know more about him, he may give in a bit and tell you a thing or two. Definitely hides the fact that he loves Sora, Warrior of the Sea. He doesn’t know that there’s a good chance that you’ve seen the comics before so he thinks he does a good job at hiding them. They’re either in a box under his bed or in his desk drawer.
I-Inspiration: Did their boyfriends/girlfriend change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things, or helping them overcome personal problems?
If you do get him to open up, you made him realize how good it feels to get things off his chest. Law has been living with this weight on his shoulders about his past and everything that has happened to him. So when you sit there and just listen to him, he likes knowing that you’re actually listening and taking it all in. Don’t say anything, just let him talk. It’s very rare that he comes and talks to you about his problems because he feels like he’s dragging you into unnecessary drama about his plans. He’s taught you to look at things from a different perspective and to think things out thoroughly.
J-Jealousy: Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?
He doesn’t get jealous at all really, mostly annoyed I guess. He doesn’t really do anything unless you can’t get out of the situation, it gets out of hand, or you look to him for help. If he does get jealous, he doesn’t say it and you’ll have to ask Mr. PoutyPants about it. He’ll be shut in his office and probably be a bit petty about it. I can see him hating the fact that Sanji gives you a lot of attention if you don’t shut it down. He may or may not tell you to “go talk to your other boyfriend” at some point because, well, petty.
K-Kiss: Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?
Oh he’s a good kisser alright. Among plenty other things. Something tells me that pre timeskip Law would be a cocky bastard and pull you to him by your shirt and lift your chin and whatnot- just being a tease. But post timeskip Law just gives me awkward vibes but in the best way possible. He’d be a little more shy about it, honestly I think he may even plan it out in his head and just hopes that everything goes accordingly.
L-Love Confession: How would they confess to their boyfriends/girlfriend?
He didn’t realize his feelings until the two of you were in real danger. Well he actually did but he didn’t want to admit it. He thought he was really good at pushing his feelings down and not letting bubble up but seeing you so bloody and beat up, it changed in an instant. He knew that he couldn’t lose you. When he was able to patch you up and you woke up after asking how he was, Law was mad. “How am I? You should be asking about yourself, dumbass-ya.” “Seriously Law, are you okay?” “No. I could have lost you.” That’s basically his confession and it’s the best you’re going to get until you actually hear him say that he loves you.
M-Marriage: Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?
I don’t think Law would want to get married-officially, anyway- he’s not the kind of guy to settle down. He’s a pirate. If you wanted a ring, then sure he’ll get you one but I don’t think he would actually propose to you. It would be more like an unspoken thing that you guys are very much together so technically you’re married in his eyes and he’ll call you his wife/partner. **Spoilers for Wano Arc!!!** When you get captured and are in the prison with Bepo and the others and when Shinobu says to kill you guys after she thinks you snitched, he’s pissed. Absolutely livid. “You think I’m going to let you put a finger my wife/partner? You’ll be dead before you can take one step towards them.”
N-Nicknames: What do they call their boyfriends/girlfriend?
The only name I can think of him calling you is possibly “love” but it is in the utmost of privacy when he absolutely knows that no one can hear him. He just gets all flustered when others tease him for it and it’s happened a handful of times. The bedroom though is a different story
O-On Cloud Nine: What are they like when they’re in love? Is it obvious to others? How do they express their feelings?
Oh it’s so painfully obvious when he loves you to everyone but him. He thinks he’s hiding it so well, but the small unnecessary touches say otherwise. A brush past your shoulder, “Here, I made extra tea,” or him not yelling at you when you come into his office without knocking on accident. It’s the little things that make it obvious when he thinks it’s not.
P-PDA: Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag about their boyfriends/girlfriend in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss, etc, when others are watching?
Not really. The only time he would do something like that is if you needed some sort of help and someone was hitting on you and you asked him to come over. “I don’t think my partner is very interested. I think it would be best if you leave.” He doesn’t brag very much, I’m sorry, he’s just not that kind of guy. He would much rather have your relationship be private. That being said, yes he’s way too shy to kiss you in front of others. Unless he’s sleepy, you might be able to get away with a little peck here and there.
Q-Quirk: Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.
He’s in no way romantic but what he does notice is when you and him are walking along some shops and he sees when something catches your eye or when you look at something longer than the rest. You may find it on your pillow that night. (He will have stolen it.) It makes you happy and that’s all he cares about.
R-Romance: How romantic are they? What would they do to make their boyfriends/girlfriend happy? Cliche, or rather creative?
There is not one romantic bone in this man’s body. He very much relies on his crew to help him. It’s not like they set everything up, although they have a few times but it was a surprise on both of your parts. They wanted you two to have a nice evening together by yourselves and be able to relax without planning it all. That all being said, the romantic stuff is a little on the cliche side, but in the best way possible and it makes really nice memories.
S-Support: Are they helping their boyfriends/girlfriend achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?
Oh my goodness yes yes yes! He might not show it often but every once in a while he’ll say that he’s proud of you at how far you’ve come as a pirate. Especially if he’s helped you train and feels how much stronger your punches and kicks are.
T-Thrill: Do they need to try out new things to spice up the relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?
Routine. Routine. Routine. He does not want to differ from his routine. Sure one new thing every once in a while is okay depending on what it is. But he probably won’t want to incorporate it into the everyday relationship. He likes what he has going with you. Though if you insist on something new, then he’ll try it and see if he gets used to it. If he doesn’t he’ll say something about it. If he does, he’ll stay quiet and not mention it. The second you do is when he wants to stop.
U-Understanding: How well do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?
He gets you. How well depends on how far you are in the relationship and how much you’ve talked. He’s also not very empathetic, I’m sorry. He’ll say what he thinks is best no matter what you may think about it and how much it will hurt your feelings. Sometimes it’s best because you can see another perspective and maybe he can help you from there. He will empathize with you if there’s a death or something tragic happens, he’s not that cruel. He would be there for you.
V-Value: How important is the relationship to them? What is it worth in comparison to other things in their life?
You’re one of the most important things to Law in the world. He’s even found himself second guessing his plans and missions because he doesn’t want to lose you somehow. *spoilers I guess* If Doflamingo or Kaido ever got his hands on you and hurt you, he’d never forgive himself. He does put you first though and like I said before, you’ve argued with him over his plans and he’s very headstrong about it so he’s not going to back down.
W-Wild Card: A random fluff headcanon.
He’s let you paint his nails black one time and one time only. He won’t tell you that he actually didn’t mind it but he made you take it off before you guys went out to eat with the crew.
X-XOXO: Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?
Only in private. He’s a touch starved baby and he does actually really appreciate your touch when he’s stressed. So if you come into his office when he’s working on something and you can tell he’s ready to rip his hair out, he’ll love if you came up to him and hugged him from behind or rubbed his shoulders. Law actually does like to cuddle at night though when he’s trying to sleep. He’s found that when you’re either on his chest or he’s holding you it’s easier for him to get some shut eye even if it’s just for a few hours.
Y-Yearning: How will they cope when they’re missing their boyfriends/girlfriend?
He copes well enough. Of course he does miss you but he’s not going to cry about it. He might just kinda lean back in his office chair and sigh while he’s thinking about you. But when he’s really missing you, he’ll take a picture out from his desk that Bepo and Penguin made him take with you. He looks annoyed in the photo and he’s rolling his eyes, but he only pays attention to you and your bright smile and goofy pose. He can’t help but smile fondly at it. He won’t admit it but he actually really loves the picture and would never tell Bepo and Penguin that.
Z-Zeal: Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, what kind?
Absofuckinlutely! He loves you with all his heart even if he doesn’t say it very often. He hasn’t loved someone like this in a very long time so he wants to protect what he has with you at all costs. I 100% believe he would risk his life for you. He does not want to lose you or anyone he loves ever again.

Can you please make another KH boys HC? One where he get jealous when somebody tries to flirt with the reader and the reader was blushing. And actually the reader kinda liked them saying all those things. But this causes him to get sad or angry. In the end the reader says that they are the only one for them.
Here’s the one where the reader is jealous
KH Boys When They’re Jealous
Warnings: GN!Reader
Sora:
You and Sora were on a date in Twilight Town. You two went to a cute café and Sora went to go get your food. While you were waiting for him, some creep came to your table and started flirting with you. You couldn’t help but blush at the comments. Sora saw the creep flirting with you and your somewhat uncomfortable face. He saw the creep reach for your hand and he snapped. He stormed to your table to give this creep a lesson.
“Hey, creep. Keep your hands off my partner.”
“Oh shit, man. They’re yours? They’re cute.”
“I’m going to repeat myself one last time. Get your hands off my partner.”
“Or what?” Sora punched him in the face, took your hand and ran out of the café. When he thought he was safe, he let go of your hand and looked away.
“You okay? You seemed kind of jealous.”
“I-I wasn’t jealous!” He looked at you with a blush on his face.
“You’re jealous! That’s so cute! Don’t worry, Sora. I love you and only you.”
Riku: He looks so hot here
You and Riku were on a mission in Radiant Garden. You got hungry so Riku took you to a local restaurant. Riku told you that he had to go to the restroom and would be right back. You told him okay and waited for your food to arrive. While you were waiting, a buff guy came up to you and started flirting with you. You tried to tell him that you had a boyfriend and was not interested but he wouldn’t listen. Riku came back from the bathroom and saw the guy making you super uncomfortable.
“Hey, big guy. Why don’t leave my partner alone. Unless you want a black eye.”
“Really? You wanna go? Let’s go.” Riku summoned his keyblade and the buff guy paled.
“Y-you know what? I’m late for work.” The buff guy ran out of the restaurant.
“You okay?”
“Yeah. Thanks.”
“Anytime.”
“I hope you don’t mind me asking but were you jealous?”
“Maybe. I just don’t like seeing people make you uncomfortable.”
“You don’t have to be jealous. But thank you for looking out for me.”
Terra:
Terra saw you had been hanging out with Ventus more often than usual. Terra sulked as he watched you and Ventus together. Aqua knew that he was jealous and sent you a text message saying so. You told Ventus that you would see him later and went to Terra.
“Aqua told me you were jealous. And I just want you to know that I will love you forever.”
“Thanks, (Y/N).”
“Anytime, Ters.” You kissed him on the cheek and spent the rest of the day with Terra.
Ventus:
You can and will always be able to tell when Ven is jealous. Whenever he’s jealous, he would take one of your plushies and hug it while pouting. You were able to catch him in his jealous state when you were hanging out with Aqua. He sat in his room, hugging your favorite plushie and pouting while watching an anime, not really paying attention to it. You walked in and gave him a side cuddle.
“Why’re you jealous, bubs?”
“You hang out with Aqua too much.” he said, still pouting.
“Baby. I only love you. Aqua was just helping me figure out what to get for your birthday.”
“Oh. Sorry.”
“It’s okay. It’s cute seeing you jealous. Now, which episode are you on? I haven’t watched this anime in a while and I need to catch up.”
Axel:
Seeing Axel jealous is one of the cutest things in your relationship. This man would cling to you, almost like a koala. One day, you were talking to an old friend of yours and when you got home, Axel just would not let you go. Even to the bathroom.
“You jealous?” you asked while making a sandwich.
“Maybe.” he mumbled. You giggled and scratched his head gently.
“Don’t worry. He already has a girlfriend, so I’m all yours.”
“Thank you, baby.”
Roxas:
Roxas gets jealous so easily, it’s almost funny. You were hanging out with Olette and Xion in Twilight Town. Roxas sat on the clock tower ledge watching you and the girls having fun. You knew that Roxas was on the clock tower and that he was jealous. When you went to check up on him, you saw that he was definitely jealous.
“I can tell you’re jealous. You always come up here when you are.”
“That doesn’t mean I’m jealous. Maybe the others pissed me off. You don’t know that I’m jealous.”
“Whenever the other’s piss you off, you buy yourself an ice cream. I’m not seeing an ice cream anywhere.”
“Fine. I’m jealous. You’ve been hanging out with Olette and Xion and not with me for the past month.”
“Well, that’s because they’ve been helping me plan our anniversary.”
“Oh. Sorry.”
“No need to be sorry. It’s cute.”
“I’m not cute.”
“Yes, you are.” You then spent an half an hour arguing about who’s the cutest.

oof did i come in late? can i have "do you want a hug" with either mimato or taiora? whichever you prefer! :D
I know you sent this ask eons ago, and I’m so sorry I never got around to writing something for this prompt!
I signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo today and well this seemed like a good place to start, and luckily I was able to include both Taiora and Mimato, though the latter should be read with a comical lens.
The setting is a filler episode in the reboot where Taichi and Agumon end up doing their own thing and the other kids rush after them to help them as things get out of hand, but Yamato is the only one who reaches him on time and even he has his hands full and isn’t able to rescue Taichi from an explosion, so this is what happens after that ⬇️
Sora’s eyes sought him, in between all the dust and the rubble, his brown, unruly hair easily distinguishable. She drew in a sharp breath as the dust started to clear gradually and the rest of him came into view as well. Moving faster than the others, she was by his side in an instant, swiftly navigating her way around the debris, she stretched out her hand the minute she reached him and even despite his eyes looking out of focus and his vision disoriented, Taichi immediately grabbed onto her hand and with all her remaining strength Sora pulled him to his feet. He staggered as he rose slowly, but she reacted instantly and supported him by putting his arm around her shoulder and letting him lean onto her frame. The other kids, and their Digimon, were probably watching them, but right now the embarrassment of being so close to Taichi did not matter to Sora, since the guilt of not being able to protect him in time was gnawing on her insides at a ferocious speed.
“Are you okay, Taichi? Where does it hurt the most? There must be a first aide kit in Jou’s getaway bag, I’ll treat your wounds right away!” She spoke as quickly as possible as they dragged their feet along the ground, there was no time to waste after all, she had to make up for the delay in their arrival.
“Sora...Agumon, where is he? And Yamato, is he okay?” He replied with his own questions, his voice was slow and drained and when she turned to glance at his face, she saw that he could barely keep his eyes open.
As much as Sora wanted to get started on his upkeep, she knew Taichi wouldn’t sit still and only damage his wounds further till he knew everyone was okay, so she quickly scanned the debris again, in her rush to be by Taichi’s side she had completely forgotten about Agumon, but to her relief, she saw Piyomon and Tailmon had already pulled him out of the rubble and were attending to him along with Koushiro and Hikari.
“Agumon’s okay too, look!” She said, pointing with her free hand in the Digimon’s direction, but it took Taichi some time to lift his head and follow her gaze, “And Yamato’s perfectly okay, MetalGarurumon was able to fly him out of the explosion just in time.”
“That’s great.” Taichi whispered with whatever remaining strength he had, with his heart soothed, he relaxed further into Sora’s hold, leaning towards her more heavily than he had at first, with his eyes half-closed he murmured an apology to her.
“You need to worry about yourself for now,” Sora muttered to herself under her breath, but heard Taichi let out a chuckle, and she couldn’t help but send a frown his way, how could he be reckless with his own self and still have the heart to care about others’ well being first?
“Coming from you…” Taichi chuckled, and attempted to form a grin but could barely manage half a smile and the whole attempt ended up with his face looking contorted out of pain.
“This isn’t the time to joke around, Taichi,” Sora gritted her teeth as anger flashed through her ember eyes and they came to a halt, she turned her body slightly to face him, her voice cracking slightly and eyes shining with latent tears, “You could’ve seriously hurt yourself back there, and Agumon too! Just because you got a lucky break doesn’t make what you did okay.”
Taichi remained silent, out of exhaustion or because of a lack of excuse, Sora didn’t know, but she did know that the kids had spent the past hour in a wild chase attempt to find him and help him after he had rushed out on his own while they had been asleep. She didn’t know what would’ve happened if Gabumon hadn’t been woken up by Agumon’s voice and alerted the others, she didn’t know what would’ve happened if Yamato hadn’t sped up ahead from the rest of them to lend Taichi a hand, she didn’t know what she would’ve done if they’d arrived just a moment later.
“I’m sorry I made you worry, I thought I was doing the right thing…” He trailed off as the hand that had been wrapped around Sora’s neck slid down suddenly, “Thank you, Sora.” His voice was just above a faint whisper and before she knew it, Taichi had both his hands around her neck and his head resting on her shoulders as he let out a deep, relieved sigh that made Sora’s whole body freeze on the spot.
Out of all the time and places in their lives did Taichi really need to pick right now to give her a hug, Sora screamed inside her head, as she felt her face heat up under the watchful gaze of all their friends and their Digimon, she turned her head in an attempt to tell Taichi to back off a little bit so she could help him out of the debris and onto plainer ground and finally begin looking after his wounds, but she saw that his eyes were now comfortably shut with a small smile playing on his lips as he took deep, routinely breaths that made Sora realise that he had fallen asleep in her arms. She struggled to keep him upright, as he was heavier than he looked and had no choice but to put her own hands on his shoulders to steady him, making their position look more and more suspicious to the spectators surrounding them and her cheeks turn redder at the thought of all the misunderstandings that this might cause.
“Taichi, you idiot!” She cried out, embarrassed by his actions and frustrated that she could barely move a muscle and yet no one else come forward to help her, “Jou, a little help please! He has completely passed out!” Sora called out, she couldn’t see where the rest of the kids were because Taichi’s big hair was blocking her view, but she could trust in her senior to jump into action if asked to.
And sure enough, the navy haired senior was at her side in a moment, helping undo Taichi’s hold on her frame, when she sneaked a look at him in the process, Taichi’s face looked peaceful and content, and displayed no signs of being caught in an explosion and being stuck under heavy debris up until a few minutes ago. And while Sora was grateful to know that he was happy and healthy, and most of all, safe, she decided she would still hold him accountable for his sudden and intimate actions when he woke up, whether he’d done it intentionally or not, was something she didn’t wish to ponder on.
~
Mimi quietly watched the scene unfold in front of her, she’d always thought that Taichi and Sora had been a little too upfront with all the smiles and deep gazes they sent each other’s way on a daily basis, but hugging in plain sight was a little out of bounds even by her standards, they were still only 10 years old after all. It did however, manage to perk up everyone’s attention as the recent events had left everyone tired and exhausted, both mentally and physically. So it was a bit relieving and exciting, when Taichi suddenly wrapped his arms around Sora’s necks and grabbed everyone’s attention, even Koushiro and Hikari, who had been concentrating hard on getting Agumon to regain his energy, stopped their attempts to turn and pass a surprised look in the couple’s direction. Next to Mimi, Jou’s mouth fell wide open and their Digimons, Palmon and Gomamon, let out surprised squeals.
Yamato, who had been sitting crossed legged with nothing but exhaustion filling his azure eyes as he stared blankly at the sky, while Takeru and Patamon consoled Gabumon with compliments over his quick rescue next to him, straightened up and turned his attention towards Taichi and Sora, which made Mimi want to turn to the blond instead, because she hadn’t ever seen him this interested in his surroundings right after a battle and that piqued her interest.
She studied his face carefully, there was a flicker of emotion in his eyes, which went away as quickly as it appeared and left Mimi with no choice but to speculate about what it had meant. Was Yamato annoyed by what was happening in front of him, did he too disapprove of this bold move from Taichi, or was he jealous that his friend had beaten him to the task? Mimi just couldn’t come up with a correct answer, no matter how much she peered at Yamato’s deadpan face. And then Sora cried out for help and Jou rushed over to assist her, and soon Taichi was being carried over towards them on Jou’s back as Sora trailed behind them, her bright red cheeks and ears visible to anyone with a decent eyesight.
So Mimi once again turned her attention towards the seated blond, this time she even lowered herself to level her gaze with him for a clearer look, and noticed that while his face was still as devoid of expression as ever, there was a sense of dissatisfaction in the blankness, as he watched the trio make their way towards them. Sensing her presence however, Yamato leaned back as he noticed that Mimi was sitting down quite close to him, immediately his face was taken over by an annoyed expression while his eyes darkened as he put his guard up.
“Can I help you with something?” He asked her, his voice agitated but also a little anxious, and Mimi wasn’t sure what to attribute the latter to.
“No, I was just wondering.”
“Well can you do that from a bit far away?” He demanded, a pinkish tint settling on his ears as he did so, making Mimi more confused about what was causing the blond, who was usually so adept at keeping his cool, to get so fidgety.
So of course she leaned in further towards him, in an attempt to study him even him more carefully, and immediately he leaned back and the tinge around his ears deepened. His whole body was radiating exhaustion which made Mimi feel a bit guilty about not being able to assist him enough during the battle, she was grateful however, that Yamato and Gabumon had given their all to make it to Taichi and Agumon on time and that both the duos had managed to come out of this safe and sound, with some injuries to boot in the latter’s case. So she smiled brightly at him, hoping to convey that she appreciated his efforts, but it seemed to make him even more flustered than before, and Mimi was taken aback by his expression, she’d thought Yamato was as smart as Koushiro and yet he was acting extremely dumbfounded and peculiar right now.
Then it clicked, the content look which had been visible on Taichi’s face after the hug, the one that made it seem like all the fatigue and weariness of the battle had disappeared from him, that could be what the blond was pining for too, to feel relived and refreshed after a hard day of work.
Satisfied with her conclusion, Mimi grinned as she tilted her head and met Yamato’s panicked gaze with a cheerful one of her own, “Do you want a hug too?”
And before she knew it, Yamato’s whole face turned a deep shade of red as his eyes went out of focus and he passed out in front of her.

Sway with me [Taiora fanfic]
A/N: I wanted to stock up all the writing inspiration for the upcoming Digiweek in a month, but I found myself today with an idea stuck in my head and I had to get it out. This weekend I was back in the theatre after all the Covid struggles, being proud of my dance students performing on stage, seeing all other kinds of choreographies from my colleagues and the vibe was so... alive and together and fun! It inspired me to write another fic including dance, because it’s one of my faves to write. Plus I LOVE to write about Taichi sweeping Sora off of her feet, because the guy can be like that!
I might continue this one-shot, making it a short multi-chapter romance fanfic... Not sure yet but for now let’s say this is chapter [1/?].
To give you some salsa-esque latin vibes, here’s my background playlist: Sway with me Mixtape.
Last but not least, an important note: this is Taiora-teasing! Because, believe it or not, there is established Sorato in this one-shot/chapter...
Under read more, happy readings! <3
Characters: Taichi (POV), Sora, Yamato mentioned (established Sorato, Taiora teasing)
Genre: DANCE! Jk, it’s friendship/hinted romance
Rating: K+
Words: 1800-ish
xxx
With summer approaching the school’s annual summer dance night was here. The floor was filled with students dancing. In groups, in duo’s, girls together, boys together or mixed. The floor was surrounded by long tables and seats for everyone who needed a rest or simply didn’t feel like dancing. It was the place where Taichi found himself standing, but not because he needed rest or didn’t felt like dancing. Spotting someone familiar leaning against the tables too, he excused himself from his friends and made his way to her.
“Hey, why the sad face? What’s the matter?”
“I’m not sad…” Came the response from the redheaded girl. Her eyes directed away from her, arms folded across her chest. As her best friend, Taichi immediately knew something was bothering Sora.
“Oh come one Takenouchi, you look like your mom made you do Ikebana against your will.”
“Yes exactly.”
“That’s what happened?” Taichi asked out loud, surprised he had it right the first time guessing.
“No…” Sora said in return, “that would make me feel frustrated… Taichi, I’m not sad. I’m frustrated.” Her eyes shifted to his, a sigh escaping her lips. Taichi laughed seeing her like that, his head radiply shaking no.
“How could you be frustrated on a night like this?” His gaze moved from her to the dancing crowd, one hand pointing to the dance floor for her eyes to follow. “Everybody’s happy and dancing!”
However Sora’s eyes never followed and were instead still glued to him. He looked back at her, her arms still crossed, but her stance now more sassy. “You’re not dancing.” Sora teased.
“True, because I’m here talking to you.” Taichi fired back. “But you aren’t dancing either… What, is Yamato not the dancer you expected him to be?”
With that Sora quickly fell back into annoyance, leaning against the table a little bit slumped away. Her eyes were back at scanning the ground, her teeth biting her bottom lip. To Taichi it looked like he had hit a nerve by asking Sora about her boyfriend’s dancing skills. Or better said, his lack of dancing skills.
“Sora?”
“…”
Failed to get an answer out of her or catching her eyes with his own, he threw a look at Yamato who was standing a little further away with some classmates. Stiffly moving, while the music absolutely asked for a more looser kind of dancing. Taichi sighed to himself, diverting his attention back to Sora.
“Okay, I see, you are frustrated because of Yamato… I know the guy can move when he’s on stage or the music is slow...”
“… But he’s not a dancer when it comes to this upbeat kind of music. I know.” Sora interrupted him finishing his thoughts and sentence. “Though I had kind of hoped he would be a little bit better at this. Or at least try to get better. He’s so sulky tonight.”
“He can’t be that bad, can he?” He knew it was a little lie, knowing this wasn’t Yamato’s music or dancing, to try to lift her mood and simultaneously defend the blonde.
Sora gave Taichi a low chuckle in response. “Can you say someone is good at dancing like that on this music when he stepped on your foot and almost made you trip at least ten times in only three minutes?”
Taichi had to hold a chuckle himself, his lips unable to hide a grin. “I… er…”
“No. Don’t think so.” Sora filled in Taichi’s stammering. “Damn it, Taichi, we even followed a few classes and he still can’t do it right— What?”
In the meantime Taichi had made his way to stand in front of Sora, one hand extended to her for her to take. He knew she wanted to dance and if Yamato couldn’t give that to her, maybe Taichi could. “Take my hand.”
“Why?” Her face looked like she couldn’t believe him, an eyebrow raised, her head drawn back a tad. “Because you ‘can’ dance?”
Taichi couldn’t help but to laugh at her insult, once again shaking his head. “Don’t you even dare to underestimate my dancing skills. Come on, Sora! Sway with me, really, I’m not that bad. No stepping on your toes, I’ll promise..!” He said, extending his hand even more so she couldn’t reject a dance with him. Slowly her arms finally unfolded, her body not leaning against the table anymore, her feet making one step towards him to cautiously place her right hand in his left.
“… Fine.”
One pull for Taichi was enough to get her body close to his, her face immediately heating up. Catching her other hand with his free hand, he dragged Sora to the dancefloor before he made his first dance steps. Stepping forward with his left foot, making her step backwards with her right. With his hands guiding her into stepping forward with her left while stepping backward with his own right. Introducing her to the rhythm and beat of the music first, get her familiar with the swaying sounds. Eventually leading her to make steps to left and right as well as back and front, switching every now and then.
Taichi was surprised seeing Sora following so easily. Getting a little bold, he made her spin before catching her in his arms again. A little closer than before. His left hand now holding her right but their underarms touching as well. His right arm scooped under her left, his right hand gently placed on her back somewhere between her waist and shoulder blade.
The music made his hips loosening up more, his feet speeding up as well, his arms guiding and leading Sora with him. Their chests so close that their noses almost touched. Her cheeks red, the corners of her mouth curled up into a smile, lips slightly parted to breathe. Taichi felt her hips move along with his, totally in sync, signaling him she was now loosened up too. He laughed to himself, enjoying this close and intimate moment with Sora while she wasn’t one for this kind of closeness in public. Making a little show out if it, he made her make some more spins ending in a dip to the side before closing the not existing gap between them even more by placing one leg between hers. His hips making her hips move, making little steps, their cheeks against each other’s, hearing each other breathe. Feeling each other’s heartbeat through their chests, fast but steady, pounding as one.
“Impressed?” Taichi asked in Sora’s ear.
“Where’d you learn to dance like that?” Her flustered voice tickled in his ear before she drew her head back a little to look him in the eye, creating more space between them. Her hands moving to his shoulders as they still swayed to the music together.
“Eh.” Taichi shrugged his shoulders to tease her a little. His own hands now placed on her waist respecting the created space between them.
One of her hands slapped him on his shrugging shoulder. “Taichi!”
“Fine, fine,” he laughed already caving in, “Hikari dragged me to a workshop with her when Takeru wasn’t available.”
“Just one workshop?!” Sora’s eyes grew bigger in disbelieve.
“Sor, you’re killing the magic.” Taichi waved away. Though he couldn’t resist Sora’s bright and genuine smiling.
“But I’m curious! And in awe…”
“It’s just… I had fun that workshop, so Hikari and I signed up for a short course.” Taichi scanned her face, still in a state of awe, disbelieve, surprise and happiness. He smirked back at here. “There I learned how to lead in freestyle. Still in awe?”
She nodded heavily, the wide smile on her face only growing bigger. “Absolutely yes. I’m already jealous of your future life partner. We’re actually talking while we’re still dancing!”
That implication made Taichi actually blush. A future life partner… he would love to have a partner like Sora who could dance with him like that. Or maybe for Sora- he stopped his thoughts before they would go too far and quickly changed his facial expression to hide his blush. “You really think that low of me huh?”
“No!” Came Sora’s immediate response. “You just never struck me as the dancing type. It’s a welcoming surprise. And it’s…” She stopped herself, a new blush creeping in as she shifted her gaze away from his. “Ah never mind.
“It’s what Sora? Don’t look away so shy all of the sudden, spill it!”
“I-I think it’s…,” with the blush on her cheeks intensifying she stammered, “… kind of… sexy…?”
Taichi couldn’t hide another smirk, his cheeks mimicking hers with a blush of his own. “Is Sora Takenouchi calling me sexy? Wow, I had never thought I would actually hear that out of your mouth.” He said taking advantage of the moment, bobbing his eyebrows at her, making her blush turn into a deep red, her lips pouting a little.
“I was calling the dancing sexy. Not you.”
“Sure. But I’m still taking the compliment.” In a swift motion he took both of her hands leading her into another single spin. One of his hand sliding down from her upper to her lower back, his other hand still holding hers, making her bend her back into one last dip, he bending over her with a respectable distant between their upper bodies, but their legs intertwined and hips quite close.
“I think it’s working though…” He could hear her say as he placed her back standing straight. Taichi looked passed her taking a step back. The lopsided grin marking his expression.
“You have some nerve to use me to make your boyfriend jealous.”
“As if you mind.”
“Heh.” He let out a small chuckle, because even though he didn’t like admitting it at first she was right. “I’ll gladly let you use me.” He looked at her as she straightened her clothes.
“That’s what I thought.” Placing one hand on one cheek and reaching up to plant a peck on his other cheek Sora winked, before she spoke in her most sultry voice. “Thank you, Taichi.” Making him shiver a little.
“You’re welcome.” He quickly recovered, his hands moving by themselves to her hair to style it to its original coupe the best he could. After helping her, Taichi gave her a small kiss on her forehead to return the peck she gave him, then turning her around so she could face Yamato.
It felt a little like all those Christmases ago, when he pushed her in the blonde’s direction for her to start dating Yamato. Back then it was the right thing and tonight wouldn’t be any different. Sora was Yamato’s, and Taichi just her friend. And that was right. So he lightly, and with unwanted doubt, pushed her in his direction tonight as well. Catching a glimpse of his unwanted doubt in her eyes as she turned around to look at him one more time.
“Go teach that boyfriend of yours how to properly dance.”

SPRING 2019
Fin let out a groan as he re-entered his room. Day had left his dirty laundry on the floor, right where Fin had just vacuumed in preparation for Sora’s visit.
“Myungdae!” Fin stood in the doorway of his room, his voice carrying down the hall. “You left your clothes on the floor!”
Day’s bleached head poked out from the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist. The vocalist gave his friend a sly smirk. “Oh yeah, I almost forgot. You’re bringing a girl over.”
At the buzzword ‘girl’, Kit’s head perked up from the living room couch, momentarily forgetting his video game.
“You have a girlfriend?” Kit asked in amazement, as if he couldn’t believe his ears. Fin rolled his eyes.
“No. Lee Sora is coming over to paint.”
“Right… paint.” Day arched his eyebrows and gave a few air quotes with his pointer and middle fingers. “What kind of painting will you two be doing, huh?”
Kit let out a snort at the crude innuendo, but the joke seemed to have gone over Hyunki’s head.
“Probably abstract.” Hyunki said simply. The honest response sent his two group mates in a fit of laughter. The two were cackling so loud that they almost drowned out the noise of someone knocking on their door. Kit’s eyes widened as he gathered his things up and bolted to his room, one hand clamped over his mouth to prevent him from laughing out loud. Day’s mouth formed a perfect ‘o’ in surprise, a mischievous smile on his lips. “Go get changed!” Hyunki hissed, making his way to the door. “Only if you promise to keep your clothes on.” Day shot back. Hyunki’s eyes widened at the scandalous comment.
Before he could scold at Day, knuckles wrapped on the door again. Day sniggered before closing the bathroom door again. Hyunki hurried over to the door, opening it to reveal Sora.
Sora seemed to be in a better mood today. She was rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet, a small smile stretched on her face.
“Hey.” Sora greeted. “Hey,” Fin smiled back, something about seeing Sora smile made his palms kinda sweaty and heart pick up.
“So are you gonna let me in or are we just gonna chill out here?” Sora teased, taking Hyunki out of his trance and bringing him back to reality.
He could feel his entire body flush as he hurriedly stepped aside. “Sorry, come on in.”
They walked through the now-empty living room to the balcony that was connected to the dorm. Outside, Fin had already set up their blank canvases and paint supplies. He even set a pitcher of homemade lemonade, some snacks, and a radio on a fold-out side table for them. Sora smiled at the layout in front of her.
“I should have brought snacks too, shit, sorry.” Sora apologized pouting absentmindedly. “Ah, don’t be sorry.” Fin shook his head, sitting criss-cross in front of one of the canvases. He was about to pat the spot next to him when he realized something.
“Oh, wait!” Fin exclaimed, rising to his feet. “You’re gonna want to protect your clothes.” Sora looked down at her outfit. She looked good, even Fin could admit that. She wasn’t wearing anything practically revealing or typically sexy. Her outfit was all black and oversized, the graphic tee she’d tied up to be cropped and chains she wore grabbed Fins attention. The look was streetwear, but he could tell it was more expensive than the casual look appeared. Sora seemed slightly embarrassed looking down awkwardly.
“Do I look so good it’s distracting you?”
Fin froze at that not really knowing how to reply. His mouth flipped open repeatedly as Sora fought off her smile watching how easily flustered she could make him.
“I’m joking Hyunki,”
Fin let out a breath at that nodding slowly as his eyes shifted around the room refusing to look her in the eyes anymore.
“I should have worn something more chill, huh?” She said in a teasing self-deprecating tone. “No worries, you can borrow some of my old painting overalls.” Fin shrugged, tilting his head towards the sliding door. The two re-entered the living room and into Fin’s bedroom.
“Damn, I should come in here more often .” Sora commented with a chuckle when she stepped through the threshold. Her eyes fixed on the wall display of various bongs. Fin followed her gaze and let out a laugh. “Oh, those are Myungdae’s. A pastime of his.” Fin chuckled before hesitating. “Uh, just don’t tell anyone that we own those.”
“Own any what?” Sora jokes. She played dumb, a lopsided smirk crossing over her face as she tilted her head to the side. Hyunki nodded appreciatively, giving Sora a knowing wink before dipping into his drawers, searching for some overalls. When he straightened up again, he was holding a beat-up pair of white painter’s overalls.
“Here.” Hyunki handed them over, a smile on his face. Sora took them, sliding her chunky sneakers through the baggy pant legs with minimal struggle. As soon as she straightened up, the chest of the overalls sagged towards her stomach, exposing her shirt.
“Oh, lemme adjust that.” Hyunki offered, stepping forward to adjust the straps for her. Sora knew he didn’t mean to be as close as he was but she also didn’t mean to get so flustered by it either. If Fin was any other boy, Sora wouldn't be surprised if he used their close proximity to his advantage and made a move on her. He was at perfect distance to grab her hips roughly and kiss her. It was what she expected. What she didn’t expect was how Hyunki’s fingertips delicately maneuvered over her shoulders, barely touching her. Sora looked up at Hyunki in an effort to better understand him and his intentions, surely this was a move that she was not picking up on. But all she saw was Hyunki’s brows furrowed in innocent concentration as he slid the buckle back a few inches.
“There.” Hyunki finally sighed. He looked down at Sora, a smile returning to his face. “Ready?”
The two exited the bedroom, heading back to the patio. Fin sat cross legged in front of a blank canvas, gesturing for Sora to do the same. She cautiously sat down, picking the canvas up. The material felt awkward in her hands, as if the inanimate object knew she didn’t know what she was doing.
Her expression must have been apprehensive, because Hyunki let out a chuckle.
“You look like it’s going to bite you.” Fin teased. He nudged a box full of paint brushes and tubes of paint towards her. “Don’t think about it too much, just go with the flow.”
“Go with the flow…” Sora repeated to herself under her breath. She picked up a plastic palette and a tube of paint, selecting a yellow color.
The two sat peacefully, listening to some music and sipping lemonade as they painted. Beside her, Hyunki broke the silence by letting out a huff under his breath, running a hand through his messy hair.
“What?” Sora asked. Hyunki flipped his canvas around for her to see. On the canvas in front of her were two angels, clearly modeled after Raphael’s Angels. Even though Sora thought Fin’s art was beautiful, his displeased expression told her that he wasn’t satisfied.
“What’s wrong with it?” Sora furrowed her eyebrows, not understanding the issue at hand.
Fin pointed to the complete angel, sighing. “I feel like I got the face wrong. They look like… like…”
While Fin searched for the correct comparison, Sora felt her cheeks heat up and her heart flip slightly . She knew exactly who the angel looked like, she’d seen that face every day since she was born. It was all she saw when she looked in the mirror.
“They look like me.”
Hyunki froze, his eyes widening. He looked between his canvas and Sora, cursing under his breath.
“Shit, I’m so sorry.” Hyunki flushed, looking as if he wanted the Earth to swallow him whole.
“No, no,” Sora shrugged. “No one’s ever painted me before, even by accident.”
Hyunki gave her a skeptical look, as if he didn’t believe that. He flipped his painting back around and sighed. “Do you want to take this home with you?” Hyunki asked. “I think Sol will kill me if I have a painting of not-you in my possession. And The other members might tease me until I die.”
Sora laughed at the mental image of Sol finding that painting, nodding her head. “Sol is so protective it’s so stupid. But I’ll keep it, how many people can say they have a pretty painting. I can't wait to rub it in the girls faces, they’re gonna be so jealous.”
“Great.” Hyunki grinned, blushing slightly at the subtle compliment .
By the time they had finished, the sun was setting over Seoul, covering the sky in a purple and pink hue.
“Time flies, huh?” Hyunki looked out over the city skyline ahead of them while holding his hand out for Sora to take. Sora hesitated, but took his hand to help herself up. She looked out over the city too. “Yeah…” She responded.
The idol was so used to seeing Seoul that the city had lost its sparkle. It was just a mesh of concrete and scattered trees in her eyes but the way Hyunki was observing it made her realize that he wasn’t seeing what she was seeing. When Sora looked at Seoul she saw a city she could never escape, that just reminded her of everything wrong in her life. But Hyunki saw pure art.
“Isn’t it pretty,” he said barely audibly. A pang went through her chest as Sora realized that it’s been so long since she’s been able to appreciate the beauty of the mundane. She would pay anything to see things like Fin. He seemed so carefree and content. Maybe if she stuck around long enough, Fin and all his multicolored thoughts would rub off on her. There’s nothing she wanted more than for that to be true.
Knuckles rapped on the glass door behind them. Sora jumped, Fin turned around lazily, as if he didn’t appreciate his thoughts being interrupted. The doors slid open, and Soonyoung stuck his head out.
“Hey guys,” He greeted. “I’m home.” ”Welcome back asshole, no one missed you .” Sora grinned, coming over to hug Soonyoung. Sol put his hands up, gesturing to the half-dry paint on her overalls. “How about air hugs?” Soonyoung chuckled. “These clothes belong to HBH.”
“How was your weekend?” Fin asked, already cleaning up their painting supplies. “It was… a weekend.” Soonyoung responded vaguely, exhaustion etched into his words. Sora pursed her lips. She wanted to ask more questions, but she knew Soonyoung. Getting anything out of him would be like pulling teeth.
“I see you guys kept busy.” Soonyoung nodded his head towards the canvases. Fin nodded, scooping up Sora’s half-dried work. “Look at what Sora made.” Fin said proudly, as if he was the one who created it. “She’s a natural.”
“Shut up,” Sora rolled her eyes, her cheeks glowing a light pink color, her arm reaching out to swipe the canvas out of Hyunki’s hands. “Or what?” Fin taunted, pulling the canvas out of Sora’s reach. Sora involuntarily mirrored the playful smirk on Fin’s lips.
Sora leaned down to dip her pointer finger in white paint before launching forward and swiping a streak of white on Fin’s cheek. Fin laughed, turning away and wiping his face.
“Alright, alright, no paint wars please.” Sol intervened. “Sora, are you staying the night?”
Sora shook her head, wiping her finger on her pant leg. “I actually should probably get back to my dorm before Dayna loses it. I didn’t think I’d stay this late.”
“Do you want us to walk you to the train station?” Fin offered sweetly.
Sora shook her head. “I’ll be fine, here,” Sora started to take off the overalls, but Fin waved a hand.
“Keep them for next time.” He said.
“So there’s gonna be a next time?” Sora said cheekily hoping it overpowered the slight nerves the statement created. Butterflies started swarming in her stomach at the idea of seeing Fin again. She cringed at the sensation.
Fin didn’t even think twice before saying a soft “Of course.”
Sol coughed to cover up a laugh. He could see right through her, no doubt.
Fin and Sol walked Sora to the door before saying goodnight. Once the door closed, Sol turned to Fin, a smirk on his lips.
“Please tell me you guys didn’t fuck.” Sol teased.
Hyunki furrowed his eyebrows. “What? No. No way. We were just painting.”
“Uh-huh. So the ‘next time’ comment wasn’t a follow up date invitation?” Sol pressed, the corners of his mouth twitching into a grin.
“No… This wasn’t even a date so how could there be a follow up one ?” Fin looked completely baffled.
Sol’s smile faded as he looked at his friend with a look of mortified awe. “You’re an idiot. An actual fucking idiot.”

She Deserves The Stars
Re:mind…well, reminded me why Sokai was such an obsession for me back in high school so naturally I had to buckle down and write a 10k+ fic about them being cute and loving each other because what else does Nomura expect me to do with myself now until he finally nuts up and releases a Kairi-centric game?
Rating: T
Enjoy!
Riku was good at focusing on little details. How sand would gather around the edge of a wave once it crested over a beach, how a leaf rocks from side to side as it floats down to the ground, small things, insignificant things. He’s gotten good at noticing those things and honing his focus on them so he could avoid thinking of things that he did not want on his mind.
When he was younger it was to divert his head from petty, cruel thoughts about his two best friends. Focus on the sand to avoid thinking about how Kairi keeps stealing looks at Sora behind his back, keep your eyes on the leaf to not think too hard about how soft Sora’s voice gets when the subject of Kairi comes up.
Focus on the water, the raft, the far away freedom, the adventure, focus on that and not on how two people you’ve known for over a decade were leaving you behind.
(A voice from the back of his head stabs him with these thoughts, you were such a shit remember? Such an awful friend, and he takes a breath. Sometimes the voice is nasally, young and arrogant and so sure of his destiny, and sometimes the voice is deeper than a fall in a canyon, full of silk smooth venom and sharp like a dagger, but he’s gotten used to remaindering himself that the voice is always wrong, so he brushes it off easily enough.)
As he grew older it was a matter of survival, the rustle of the air as holes of pure nothing tore open and things made of twisted cloth-flesh and empty souls were about to pour out, the electricity and dull fire licking his skin whenever creatures of dark and hate were nearby. Things that passed by in a second, things that kept him alive if he noticed them.
It made him good at reading people once things simmered down. The twitch near the corner of Terra’s lip when Riku was being difficult, Aqua’s left eyebrow raising half an inch to prepare for a lecture, Ven’s eyes darting back and forth when you caught out a bluff, Roxas mouth thinning when you hit a sore spot, Xion’s shoulder’s bunching up if she feels threatened, Lea’s fists clenching when he’s pissed.
Kairi’s nose flaring when she’s frustrated, biting her lip to hold back tears, how empty and tired her eyes were becoming every day Sora remained out of her reach.
He used it to be a better friend, when everyone needed him to be more than any other time in his life, he even thinks he managed it fairly alright. Kairi barely gave him the time of day as things dragged on, but he could hardly blame her for that, with how she was wearing herself thin searching for Sora, for their friend.
The one she loved.
If he was younger, spiteful and jealous and so afraid of being alone, that last thought would have been a knife in the back, but seeing Kairi so determined, so driven, so on fire to look for Sora after everything he’s done, for everyone, for them, for her, it was hard not to admire her now that he’s more secure with his place in their lives and with more years on his shoulders.
And best of all, it paid off.
He didn’t even want to begin to think of all the loops and nonsense he and Kairi (plus their friends from Radiant Garden, and the three Masters, and the king, and Roxas and his gang, and who knows how many more) had to jump through to finally find Sora, but they did. He was beaten within an inch of his life, bruised and bleeding from a few worrying places, but he was alive, against all odds and spitting in the face of whatever laws of nature and destiny were dead set on keeping them all apart, he was alive.
And the look on his face when he caught sight of them, caught sight of Kairi, was absolutely worth every second of searching it took to find him. Riku barely had enough time to cast Curaja to heal their wounds before he and Kairi basically attached themselves to each other to hug and sob and be glad to be together again.
They even pulled him into the hug, and Riku was never more glad to get snot and dirt on his jacket. Soon though, as if all the time searching and fighting and hoping caught up to them all at once, Kairi and Sora fell sound asleep, arms still wrapped around each other and Riku.
Prying himself, however reluctantly, from the hug, Riku was left with the question of how to get these two on the Gummi ship and on the way back to Destiny Islands, back home. Thankfully, Aqua, Terra and Ven were close by when things began to wind down, and were able to help him pick the two up and carry them to the ship.
Still hugging even, after all they went through they seemed determined to never be apart again, even while dead to the world and snoring and drooling on each other. It was cute, in a weird and gross sort of way, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to be the one to pry them off each other, and the other three weren’t too keen on the idea either.
So, they laughed, shared a hug, gave their best wishes and congratulations, and left through their portal, and now Riku was left alone on the Gummi with his two sleeping, hugging friends.
And he was making use of his long developed skill for careful inspection to take notice of every little noise the ship made, the groan of metal and grinding of gears, the flowing of fuel through pipes, anything to keep his eyes open and his arms steady, lest he fall asleep and the three heroes that saved the world a good half dozen times will die as a result of crashing into a huge hunk of rock floating in space.
Because he too, like Kairi and Sora, was practically dead on his feet after the trial that was today, but he was left to be the responsible one and get them all back in one piece.
“As per usual, I might add.” He muttered with faux outrage, “I swear, I always have to be the one to actually get stuff done, don’t I?” He shook his head with a scoff, “this is just like the time we were building that damned raft, remember that?”
He turned his head back to look at his friends with a tired smile, Sora having moved his arms to envelop Kairi completely, as if protecting her from a wind that would blow her away, and their princess burying her head in Sora’s chest, as if to anchor him where he was and keep him there with her.
Otherwise, they snored and ignored his question, typical.
“Exactly!” He shouted, to no reaction from the snoozing pair, “I was running around carrying logs and ropes from all over the island, while you two were sleeping the day away on the beach!” He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and shook his head again, paying attention to the give of the leather on the wheel as he steered the ship, “Sora might have been the lazy bum, but Kairi, you always used the excuse to look for him to not have to work and make wayfinders, and that left me to find the two of you only to see you goofing off near the water.”
He left it at that for a moment, pistons whooshing in the air and his friends mumbling softly in their sleep. Sora taking a deep breath through his nose buried in Kairi’s hair, Kairi grabbing Sora’s jacket in a tightening fist.
“…we never did finish it, right?” He let the question hang in the air for a while as he searched his memory of that one sunlit afternoon that took so long to end, that one storm that changed everything, “well, I mean, we did, but we never really got the chance to take it out to sea.” He chuckled at his past self, naïve and sure with his so called plan to seek destiny and a different sky, “not that we would have gotten anywhere, three dumb kids on a rickety raft in the middle of the ocean, wouldn’t that have been a stupid end to our story…”
He was quiet again, listening to the sound of his friends breathing, in and out, in and out, two hearts, two souls, two people he could never imagine being without. It is the most wonderful sound he’s heard in years, and he strains to commit every tiny detail of it to memory.
“We should build it again.” He intones resolutely, eyes dead ahead and watching for their goal, “we should take a day to build it, and actually get it on the water.” He starts smiling without even noticing, his heart growing warm in his chest, “not even out to the ocean, I’d like to think the three of us aren’t that stupid, just, spend an afternoon floating near the beach, just close enough to swim back if we need to.”
He looked at the stars outside the ship, saw them slowly drifting close before floating away, didn’t he dream of this? This freedom? To be this far away from a home that gave him nothing but sand and sea water? Look at him now, wanting nothing but to get back there, to the palm trees and glowing sun.
He hums deep in his throats for a moment, “I think we’ve all earned a day or two of being lazy bums.”
“Try a week.”
Riku’s smile widened for a moment before he tempered it into a cool smirk, “or maybe a month, considering how you two conked out so quick back there.” He looked back with that same smirk to see Sora sleepily blinking at him, only just barely awake and hanging on the edge of falling right back to snoring on Kairi without a care, “how long have you been up?”
“Around the time you started talking about the raft, and how I wasn’t any help.” He used the one hand not wrapped around Kairi to point accusingly at Riku, “which is a big fat lie, don’t you remember me bringing in all the food?”
“Oh yeah, all the food, an egg, two coconuts, three mushrooms, and three tiny fish, a very sustainable supply, Sora.”
“And water!” Sora added cheekily, grinning widely no matter how tired he was, “don’t forget the water!”
“I wouldn’t dare! A whole bottle of water!” Riku stifled a yawn along with a smile, looking back over the map as he adjusted his course slightly, “Kairi practically had to twist your arm to get you to pull your weight and get all of that.”
A moment of quiet before Sora chuckles warmly, “nah, all she really had to do was ask me.”
Riku let out an undignified sound between his lips holding back a laugh, “man, you are so whipped.”
After making a few outraged noises, Sora fired back, “excuse you, I prefer in love.”
The air stills between them, Riku looks back at Sora with a kind smirk, seeing his friend’s face softly glow red.
“Love…” Sora repeated, slowly, as if testing how the word traveled along his tongue, “love…wow…just saying that, don’t think I’ll ever get used to that…” Sora looked down at Kairi, smiling stretching his face as he buried his nose in her hair again, “love…yeah, I’m in love with her, isn’t that crazy, Riku?”
(Why did you think you ever had a chance? Both voices, young and dark, say at once, and he’s so far past over that whole jealousy business that the ease and annoyance in which he pushes that thought out of his head is almost laughable. Because I was young, stupid, and afraid of being alone, now shut it.)
“Not crazy at all, in fact it’s about time you got it through your thick hair and skull,” He looked back at his glaring friend with a grin, “also, same thing as being whipped, buddy.”
“Hey!”
Kairi made a soft sound in her sleep, digging her head deeper into her embrace of Sora, shutting both boys up before they woke her. Sora breathed out a sigh before wrapping his other hand around her, speaking to Riku while his eyes stayed on her sleeping form, “I don’t think I had a chance to thank all of you guys for bringing me back,” he turned to Riku, eyes wet and smile quiet, “so, really, thank you Riku.”
Riku was silent for a long moment, face hardening before he gestured sharply with his chin to their sleeping friend, “she’s the one you should be thanking, Sora, she’s the only person who refused to give up looking for you, no matter what.”
Sora blinked at Riku, taken aback by his sudden sharp tone, “I-I know that-”
“Yeah but you don’t get it.” Riku stalled the ship so it wouldn’t move and turned to Sora, eyes stone like and voice tight, “Kairi damn near killed herself looking for you, on more than one occasion and in a variety of ways, no matter how many times people told her to slow down, no matter how much I told her to take a break before she cracked under the pressure.” He shook his head with a frustrated breath, memories of those stressful months weighing on his mind, “you have no idea what she had to push through to get you back Sora, no fucking idea.”
Sora stared wide eyed at his friend, at a complete lose at what to say to all that, the only thing he could think to do was simply hold on to Kairi tighter as Riku took another breath and rubbed his face.
“No.” Riku shook his head and rubbed the bridge of his nose, taking a few calming gulps of air, “no, that was…that came out angrier than I wanted it to be.” He let out another breath between his teeth, “I’m not…I’m not telling you all of this to guilt trip you Sora, I…I just want you to understand exactly how lucky we all ended up being today.”
Riku’s eyes flit over the many wounds and bandages covering his friends’ bodies, and feeling the faint thumping of his own injuries, that even after a dose of healing magic from both himself and Aqua he knew would leave scars. He pushes the sight of Sora bleeding from the side of his stomach out of his head, he needs to focus.
Seriously Sora, today was, bar none, the closest call the three of us of had at losing our lives.” An incredulous laugh leaps out of him unbidden, voice a bit hysterical as he went on, as if the danger of the situation has only hit him fully now that he has a chance to look over his shoulder and actually see it, “and considering the shit we went through? That is saying something, don’t you think?” He pinches his left thumb and index finger together and then just barely pulls them apart to make a space between, “this close, that was our margin of error, that was how close I was to losing my two best friends in the whole world, Sora. That was how close Kairi was to failing after everything we all went through.”
Sora started looking at Kairi mid-way through Riku’s plea, the affection in his eyes mixing with something else, something like pride and determination, that look he had when he was prepared to move the stars for the people he loved.
What would he move for Kairi? Riku supposed that wasn’t a question worth asking, considering he already had the answer.
“But she won.” Riku continued, voice growing steady and certain, “she made it Sora, after all of that she made it, we made it, and that means she’s earned something from you.”
“Anything.” Sora said, voice rock solid and eyes unclouded, “I’ll give her anything she needs, everything, what do I need to give her?”
“No Sora, not give.” He leaned back on the wheel, crossing his arms and smiling at his friend, “something you need to tell her.”
Sora looked between the girl in his arms and his smiling friend, once more at a loss, “what’s there left to say?”
“How you feel, Sora.” Riku stated plainly, “exactly how you feel, exactly what you see in her, exactly what you want to do with her, exactly how you love her.” His smile grows warm when comprehension glows in Sora’s eyes, “tell her everything in your heart, even if she already knows what’s there from the time she was there, even if you think it’s stupid, out loud, in the open, between the two of you, leave nothing to guesswork or implication.”
Sora was holding Kairi against his chest, the girl snuggling into his warmth in her sleep but still refusing to wake.
“After everything she did for you, she’s earned that, all of it. And you need to tell her,” Riku looked aside at a window, watching stardust blow by and the universe turn around them, “…because who knows if this was the last time we get so lucky.”
Riku left it at that, letting the implication sink in on its own, turning back to the wheel to start them back on their route, the heavy quiet of his two friends and the noises of the ship his only accompaniment.
“…I called her my guiding light.” He heard Sora whisper, just barely, growing weaker, “…my light in the darkness.”
Riku blinked, the line of his mouth unsure whether to sink or rise, before another laugh jumped from his lungs and it was all he could do to keep the ship steady, “Sora, of all the things I’ve heard you say, that has to be the cheesiest.” He turned his head to look behind him, voice raising in pitch in a parody of Sora’s, “and that includes your famous my friends are my-”
He stopped, seeing Sora once more joining Kairi in dream land, whatever strength he had used to listen to Riku gone like it was never there. Riku would crack up if he didn’t want them both to keep resting.
“…power.” He shakes his head, looking at the map to see how close they were to home, smiling when he saw they weren’t too far. “You two rest,” he mutters as he leans a bit forward on the accelerator, just enough not to rock the ship, “we’re nearly there…we’re back guys, we actually made it.”
Another soft voice from behind him, different from before, tired to the bone but full of joy, “we're…home.”
He waited for more, but a soft sound of shuffling clothes was all he heard from her, so he let the tears of relief drop down his face, “yeah…we’re home.”
-_-_-_-
Kairi was always a heavy sleeper. Maybe it was just how she was built, or perhaps it was a consequence of dropping between worlds and getting her heart stolen when she was young, but waking her was, reportedly, a very difficult task if Lea and Riku and her grandmother were to be believed.
That changed after the year long search into her heart for Sora, in which she spent that whole time sleeping and went away with barely any clue at all to where he might be. After that she barely allowed herself rest, and any sleep she managed was a wired one, where she was set to spring up at the lightest noise or touch in case she needed to summon her weapon and fight.
Sleeping meant dreams, dreams of a sword through her back, dreams of being weak, dreams of her arm being bent behind her until she heard the bones snap. Dreams of him, right within her reach but always too far away, which were the worst of them all. She loathed sleep, loathed the idea she wasted so much time when she could have been out there looking but instead was useless while her friends risked their lives to make up for her weakness.
Sleep was a waste of time, if she had time to lay down on a pillow and be selfish she had time to get on her feet and put the work in to atone for her failings.
And yet, now, it was as if all the sleep that was drained from her in that year of searching came back at once, and all she wanted to do was cling as long and as hard as she could manage to this slumber, this rest sweeter and warmer than she’s felt in ages.
Kairi was surrounded by warmth, her head resting on a pillow, her body covered by a blanket, and she refused to be woken. Her mind was still reeling from something she was sure was a dream; Sora, after all that time searching and struggling, in her arms, alive and here, a part of her was afraid of opening her eyes, afraid this was just another illusion brought about by her desperate mind.
So long as she was pressed up to this warmth, so long as she was hearing the steady thump thump thump of a heart she knew better than her own, so long as her eyes were closed and she saw nothing she knew for certain it was real. At least in the moment, as she rested, Sora was with her again.
Opening her eyes would mean risking the chance she failed, again, that she was still no closer to finding him again, that he was once more torn out of her reach, her heart would clatter to pieces in her chest if that were true, she could only take so much.
So, she clung to sleep as long as she could manage, holding onto it in a death grip, even as she heard Sora and Riku’s voices float around her, even as she felt Sora’s arms wrap tightly around her, even as she felt him put a feather-light kiss to the top of her head.
It was such a wonderful dream, waking would make it a nightmare.
She wouldn’t survive that, she was home, she was finally home.
She wants to rest, please just let her rest.
“Kairi! Kairi wake up!”
Her eyes flew open and she bolted straight up, recognizing the panic in Riku’s voice as well as being shaken by the shoulder. She saw him in front of her, or at least a blurry mess of colors she thought was Riku, and it took a moment for her to realize her eyes were full of tears.
“R-Riku?” She mumbled rubbing her eyes and blinking rapidly, her mind more sluggish than she was used to when waking, “what-what happened?”
Riku, now perfectly visible that her tears were out of the way, sighed, “you were mumbling and crying in your sleep, you scared me for a second there.”
Kairi blinked, “…sleep?” She muttered quietly, a bitter chuckle leaving her as the implications crawled up on her, making her feel cold from every direction, “right…sleep. I was…” She rubs her face with a frustrated breath, scowling, “…I was just…asleep.”
Of course she was, of course it was nothing more than a stupid wish, a ridiculous dream, why would it be anything else, of course.
Another day another failure, no one but herself to blame for hopes raising too high.
Of fucking course.
Riku grew worried, his hands raised towards her uncertainly, “Kairi? You okay there?”
She wonders when he’ll grow sick of her, get tired of her scowling and glaring at him every time he shows her concern, wonders when he’ll just get a clue and give up on her, leave her to this impossible mission that will probably kill her before she drags him down with her.
She won’t stop, even if it costs her everything she won’t stop until she finds him, that was the simple truth of it, if it cost her Riku than she’ll live with it if she needs to. If he’d just hurry up and give on her it might be better, but if Riku lost his heart over her (like they were all twelve all over again and nothing changed) after all the growing up he’s done she’ll never forgive herself.
He reaches out again, concern still clear on his face as he attempts to put a palm on her shoulder, “Kairi?”
“It’s fine.” She dismissed him with a snap, sharper than he deserves but she’ll curse herself for it later, rubbing a spot at the back of her head, “I’m fine Riku it was just…just a dream.” She sighed harshly and pushed against the warmth of her pillow and the bed she laid on, one hand holding her up, “don’t worry about me just give me a-”
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
Kairi is frozen, every bone in her body locks in place, her heart seizes in her chest and she waits, waits for that steady rhythm under her palm, to make sure she wasn’t going crazy after all this time, after all that searching.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
Tears start flowing down her cheeks as she slowly turns to her left, to see what she’s laying her hand on. She’s met with the lazy bum who stole her heart, her hero and her friend. She sees Sora, soundly snoozing under her palm like nothing in the world was amiss.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
Her face lights up with an impossibly wide grin, her whole body bursting in flame to burn away the ice that froze her not a moment before, all while tears continue to flow down her cheeks as she sees Sora breath in and out in peaceful sleep.
“Kairi?” She turned to Riku, his face torn between a relieved smirk and a worried fret, his eyes jumping from spot to spot on her body, not quite sure where to stop, “are you…Kairi what’s wro-”
“This is real.”
Riku blinked, “what?”
“This.” She emphasized by bunching up the fabric of Sora’s shirt in her hand, her eyes never leaving Riku as she smiled and cried, “this is real, all of it, right?” A desperate edge sharpened the end of her question, a bit of panic floating in the air, her grin unstable at the corners, “he, Sora, he’s really here right? We did it, right?” She took her second hand and grabbed Riku’s shoulder, her fingers shaking, “this isn’t a dream? I’m not seeing things, right Riku? Is he back? Right?”
He grasps her by the shoulders, steadies her by with a solid stare and a steely grip, and when the panic drains out of her, he smiles, “we did it Kairi, this isn’t a dream.” He leans his forehead on hers and her tears nearly double, “we did it.”
She crumples into him after a few disbelieving spurts of laughter, hiccupping as she buried herself into the crook of his neck and used one arm to hug him fiercely, the other still bunching up the fabric of Sora’s shirt nearest to that precious heartbeat.
Thump.
Thump.
Thump.
A soft groaning rose beneath her palm, and she leaned away from Riku to see Sora slowly rousing from his slumber, mumbling incoherently as he sat up, “Mmn…wha…?” He blinked the sleep out of his eyes as he managed to sit up straight, smiling slowly as he took in the image of his two best friends in front of him, “hey guys, did I sleep long?”
Kairi’s grin nearly split her face, the arm she had wrapped around Riku and joining its twin near Sora’s heart, “no more than usual, lazy bum.”
Sora matched her grin inch for inch, all his teeth on display as he wrapped one hand over the two she placed on his chest, eyes soft as he took her in, “man, been a while since I heard that…one…” He trailed off as he finally noticed her tears, Kairi could only imagine how blotchy her cheeks were, the red rimming her eyes, but all she could see was the love and concern filling his face and weighing down his voice as he brought his other hand to brush a few stray drops from her left cheek, “Kai…don’t tell me I did this…”
He did, he is the reason she was crying so openly right now. He wormed his way into her heart years ago and refused to leave, even when he left her memories her heart remembered him. Yet he seemed chronically out of her reach, every time it seemed they would have a moment together it was snatched away by shadows and men who cared only for their curiosity and not for anyone they might hurt in searching to satiate it.
He protected her time and time and time again, putting his body and his soul on the line to keep her safe even as the sight of it robbed her of sleep. And when the time came to repay him his bravery, she failed, and her failure costed her more than she was ever willing to pay.
She got to stand by his side, lending her strength to him like she wished to do so since they were both children, lost in a war they had no business in waging. She held him in her arms and walked with him through so many worlds and saw so many things…and then he was gone again.
Yes, he did this, he was the reason tears were staining her face and her body ached with bruises and sores from yet more fights and yet more war that she waged herself to find him. He was also the reason she was able to push through all of that, the reason she was able to wake day after day with the hope that she would find him again, that they would have time again.
She loves him, and he’s made her cry for all sort of reasons over the years, so he shouldn’t be so surprised that she’s crying now.
Instead of giving him that answer, instead of telling him all of that, all that mess of emotion and muddled thoughts that have crept into her mind after the long search for him, she settled for leaning her head forward, closing her eyes, and capturing his lips with hers.
A shock went through him for a quick second, Kairi having felt him jump as her lips landed on his, but soon his arms crushed her in a hug as he returned the pressure and they were lost in each other, the whole universe falling away as they simply existed in the moment, together at last.
…at least until Riku very loudly cleared his throat to remind them that he was still in the room.
“You guys good?”
They reluctantly separated, suddenly sheepish now that they remembered that reality wasn’t limited to themselves, faces glowing red as they looked at each other uncertainly for a moment before big, goofy grins stretched their faces again. They laughed loudly, some combination of elation and relief, smiling at Riku who returned his own understated smirk.
“I’ll take that as a yes…and as my cue to leave.” He turned towards the door with a light and easy step, waving over his shoulder, “I’ll see you two in the-”
He’s stopped when both Kairi and Sora grab one of his hands, their faces worried at his sudden departure, “Riku,” Kairi started, guilt at how she treated him when she woke up gnawing up her stomach, “you don’t-you don’t have to leave, you know were not pushing you away right?”
Riku blinks at her, as if the thought never even crossed his mind, “yeah!” Sora added, sharing a quick look with Kairi as he squeezed Riku’s with one of his own while the other was still holding one of Kairi’s, “we’re just-”
“Guys relax.” Riku stressed, pulling his hand out of their grip and smiling easily at them, “It’s not like when we were kids, I know you aren’t doing that, it’s fine.” He crossed his arms and looked down at them with a raised eyebrow, “it’s just I know that you two, specifically you two, have a few things you need to work out,” a too smart grin lit his face, “privately.”
Kairi could feel her face catch fire from the implication, “Riku.”
The grin didn’t budge, “am I wrong?” He looked more directly at Sora, “well?”
She turned to look at Sora, face just as red as hers was, when she saw a determined gleam take shape in his eyes, “…yeah, you’re right, we do have some things to talk over.” Sora met her gaze and she could feel her heart beat a bit faster as he smiled at her, “just the two of us.”
Kairi was stuck between being utterly elated at Sora’s affection, mortified at Riku’s good natured laughter, and confused at what those two boys might have communicated with that brief look.
As she was deciding which direction she wanted to lean towards, she noticed for the first time that she didn’t recognize the room Riku brought them two; bare bones with only a bed, a desk, and a window to give it any features beyond the inside of a pale white box.
“Riku, what is this place?” Kairi looked around a bit more, confused, “this isn't…my room, or-or Sora’s,” she ignored the snigger he sent her way, “where is this?”
Sora nodded, “yeah, I don’t think I remember any place like this back home…”
“You wouldn’t.” Riku said plainly, “this is just a small place the Radiant Garden Committee bought when they were looking for clues to find Sora around here.” He shrugged, “when they didn’t find anything they gave me the keys to keep safe since my house is the closest to here,” He looked at Kairi, “and since your room hasn’t been touched or cleaned since Sora disappeared and his room is just a total mess in general, I figured this is the best place to bring you two so you could…” His grin came back, cheeky to the extreme, “catch up, privately.”
It was Sora’s turn to glare red-faced at their mutual friend, eyes wide and darting between him and Kairi, “Riku seriously you-” He stopped of a sudden, taking another wide look at the room, some realization causing his red face to pale a bit, “Riku…Riku there’s-” He gulped in the middle of his halting speech, voice creaking, “there’s only one bed.”
Kairi blinked, her brain trying to catch up to what Sora sounded so stressed about, and when it did she could practically hear the kettle screech as the inside of her head boiled and she snapped a glare in Riku’s direction, his face the picture of perfect innocence.
He didn’t.
“Really?” He asked, voice surprised and taken aback, as if he didn’t know this room for the longest time out of the three of them, looking around the space as if he was just taking it in for the first time, “well what do you know, there is only one bed!”
That bastard he did.
“Huh, what are the chances?” He started walking towards the door, utterly nonchalant as he pushed on the handle to open it, “honestly, how weird is it that the one place I could think to bring you two that has any privacy would only have one bed, crazy!”
She was going to kill him. She’s going to wait until he’s sleeping, thank him for all the help he’s given her and being a better wingman than she honestly deserved, and then she was going to kill him.
“I suppose you’ll simply have to make do with just one bed, guys.” The bastard they called a best friend smiled pleasantly as he stepped under the threshold, ignoring Sora’s steaming face and Kairi’s murderous glare, “honestly this place is really private, so you guys can take as long as you need to talk things out, okay?” His smile turned endlessly smug, “try not to have too much fun!”
They both opened their mouths to shout his head off, but he slammed the door in their faces with an evil cackle more fitting for an Organization member than a guardian of light, leaving them in the room.
Alone.
Together.
With only one bed.
Kairi was going to kill him.
Her plans to horribly murder Riku were derailed when she heard a soft chuckle from behind her, looking over her shoulder to see Sora laughing a bit awkwardly, as soon as he saw her staring at him he sent a heart melting smile her way as his face continued to glow red, “good to see Riku’s sense of humor stayed the same.”
Kairi smiled back, her chest aching with how much she missed hearing him laugh, seeing him smile, as if to make sure she was aware that this wasn’t a dream. “One of the few things that didn’t change.” She didn’t mean it in a bad way, or a good way, simply acknowledging how much shifted since the time Sora vanished, not really caring for any of that currently anyway, far more occupied with the person on the bed with her, twining her fingers with his and leaning her forehead against his shoulder, “like you, you haven’t changed much either, Sora.”
He’s quiet for a minute, putting his nose in her hair again, drinking her in before he sighed, “…but you did.” He said finally, smiling thinly as he squeezed his fingers around hers, refusing to let go, “you changed a lot Kairi.”
There’s a note of sadness there alongside the pride, a twist of guilt in his voice she does not intend to allow to grow, “it’s been a long time Sora, a lot happened to me, to everyone,” she laughed mirthlessly for a moment before nuzzling into him, basking in his heat, “besides the obvious, of course.”
He’s silent again for a brief second, and then he pulls away slightly, locking his gaze with hers, showing her there was still some guilt in there, a sense of responsibility for what happened. Like he allowed her to die, like it was his fault she needed to be saved, again, and the price he had to pay for it was nearly too much.
She would have to fix that way of thinking, wouldn’t she?
“Kairi…” He started, and she could hear the despairing, heartwarming speech coming from a mile away, “I…I’m so sorry for-”
She silenced him with another kiss, hungrier than the last, more confident. She liked the feel of his lips against hers, she decided, and she also decided that she had a lot of time to make up for, and that the single bed they were laying on was perfect for that purpose.
(She was still going to kill Riku after this, of course, no question of it, but first thing’s first…)
She wrapped her arms around him, and soon he did the same, his mouth clumsy on hers, eager yet uncoordinated, not the she was much better. They were both severely lacking in practical experience, bumping their noses and clacking teeth on more than one occasion, but they made up for it with passion and desperation.
They hungered for each other, the long absence and coldness in their hearts begging to be filled and warmed. Soon she found herself with her back pinned to the mattress, Sora peppering feather light kisses all over her face as he cupped it in his hands. Her own fingers were busy threading through his hair, eager to feel him, ecstatic at the chance to reinforce the fact that he was here, with her, real and in the flesh and here with her, and that this wasn’t another dream.
Because she’s had this dream before, many times before, when the loneliness threatened to overwhelm her, her mind would conjure this image of the two of them on a bed, totally engrossed in each other with no sign of slowing down.
It always ended before it got good, which served to fuel her loneliness and frustration. She hoped that, since this was real, that this Sora, unlike the one in her dreams (who was, coincidentally, not nearly as good with his hands and lips as the genuine article), would be so kind as to satisfy this warm pit at the bottom of her stomach.
“W-wait-Kairi wait-”
Oh damn it.
“Kairi I-”
“Sora.” She pleaded breathlessly, and the way his jaw hanged loose and his eyes widened proved it was effective at getting his attention, “not now, please not now, please I just want-”
“I know.” He says firmly, though he visibly swallows a lump in his throat as he keeps his palms pressed to her cheeks, “believe me I know, and I’m the same,” he breathes harshly through his nose when she turns her face to kiss his right palm, clearly fighting for restraint, “trust me on that, but-but Riku’s right, I need to tell you something.”
She barely stopped herself from whining, putting Sora’s face in her hands like he did with her, her whole world warming the space between her fingers, “can’t it wait till morning?”
“No.” He was firm this time, putting his hands on the small of her back to pull her up as he leaned back to sit on the mattress, gaze burning into her, “I need to say it now, there’s so much I need to tell you now because if I don’t do it now I’ll lose the nerve for it.”
Kairi was torn between planting another kiss on him, which she was sure would be enough for him to see sense and continue what they were doing, and biting her tongue to calm her burning nerves so she could listen to him.
Knowing Sora, and she hoped she knew him well enough, it was probably something both very heartfelt, very sincere, and very, very stupid. But seeing how serious he was, the warmth of his hands on her waist, the depth of determination in his eyes, she couldn’t help but smile at him.
“Alright…” She allowed, after a sigh, wrapping her arms over his shoulders and around his neck, leaning her forehead on his, smiling softly as his blush deepened, “tell me everything Sora, if it’s that important to you, I’ll listen to everything you have in your heart.”
Sora blinked at her, a bit taken aback, before matching her smile, “who taught you how to flirt?”
She placed a kiss on his nose before she put her forehead back on his, a toothy grin on her face.
She doesn’t think she’s ever been this…happy. This content to be with someone and exchange affection like this, her heart bursting with happiness and her face bursting into flame with every little action and smile Sora showed, it was ridiculous.
Sora rubbed his nose with her as revenge, and after a quick giggling fit from the both of them, he locked gazes with her again, as serious as he was when he asked her to listen. He closes his eyes and takes a breath, to steady himself, to straighten his thoughts in the order he wished to share, and then opens them again, and speaks clearly and resolutely, “I love you Kairi, more than anything in the world.”
Kairi could feel her blood boil, her face nearly catching fire. She was almost confused as to why, considering she’s known what’s in heart for a while now. She’s known since she saw that picture on the cave wall he made years ago, where he offered her a Paopu fruit, since they shared one while watching a sunset.
She’s known since the day he ripped himself apart simply to be able to hold her in his arms one last time before taking her home.
Hearing it though, in so many words, out loud, seemed more than enough to make her heart want to burst out of her chest.
And he wasn’t done, the hands on the small of her back pulling her closer to him as his eyes dug into her and refused to let go, “you’re amazing, you’re the reason I was able to push through the dark when I thought I was going to be overwhelmed, you remember what I called you right? When you saved me? Way back when?” His gaze grew soft as he recalled that moment, where she pulled him out of the dark and back into the fight, “you’re my light in the darkness Kairi, I want you to know that, I want you to know how strong you make me feel, how I feel like I can do anything so long as you’re by my side.”
Kairi could feel more tears falling down her cheeks, she felt overwhelmed, like she was drowning in him, utterly engulfed by him and his love for her. All the doubt and fear she’s felt over her search seemed so insurmountable, crushed under the weight of it all. And yet here he was, reaching out his hand again, pulling her up, inch by inch, and wrapping her in his light.
“And…” He went on, that sadness and guilt from before resurfacing, and Kairi had to physically stop herself from interrupting him as he went on, she promised she would listen to him, she promised, “what you went through to find me again? Bring me back? I’ll never be able to thank you for that; I’ll never be able to pay you back for all of that.”
She feels cold. Ice is spreading through her veins, and freezing her from her feet to her heart. He’s wrong. He’s wrong. She’s done nothing he needs to thank her for, she wasn’t some guiding light, just an angry girl who didn’t know her limits.
A child who walked right off a cliff expecting the bottom to ignore her.
(I’m the reason you were dead, the reason you pulled yourself apart, because I was weak and slow and failed even though I put all that work into training and learning how to use my keyblade I was less than useless I couldn’t do anything I couldn’t save you on my own I couldn’t beat Xehanort alone you helped me don’t you see? I was lost and angry and pushed everyone away without you I was weak without you I-)
“Kairi!”
His shout pulled her by the hair out of her sudden sink, a yank that left her out of breath and gasping, her cheeks soaked with her tears. She felt ill, a spike jabbing itself as far as it could go in her gut, she didn’t deserve this, all this praise from him, she didn’t deserve a love like this from someone like him, she didn’t deserve this dream-
He captured her face between his palms again, making sure that he was the only thing she could focus on. He was warm. His hands on her cheeks were warm and gentle and real and she felt like a fool for letting herself fall like this, so easily getting swallowed up by fear and doubt when Sora was right there, right in front of her.
Damn it why can’t she just be happy for once!?
“Kairi.” He repeats, firmly, “are you listening to me? You promised you would listen, are you?” He waited for her to make a few halting, stuttering nods before he went on, carefully enunciating each word as he said it, “You. Aren’t. Weak.”
She’s shocked still for a moment, and then a bitter, cracking laugh raises from her, “I said that out loud?” She laughed herself to pieces, more tears staining her cheeks as her voice grew weaker, “well, I bet that ruined the mood huh?”
Sora stared wide eyed at her for a moment, leaning back a bit to look at her fully, see every inch of her and all the angry red blotches covering her face from her tears. His face calmed, and his voice was a salve for her fraying mind, slowly pulling her pieces back together as he spoke, “Riku told me about what you did to get me back Kairi, how far you went, how you refused to give up.” He took her hands in his, rubbing circles on the back of her hand and knuckles, “you pushed and pushed and pushed, you never stopped, you were the first to go looking for me, and you’re the one who found me.”
He lifted her hands to his lips, placing a gentle kiss to her fingers tips, and she could nearly feel the refreshing rush of a cure spell working its way through her system, and she slowly found it easier to breathe.
“It took strength to do that Kairi, it took more strength than people who’ve fought for longer than you and I have been alive could muster, never doubt that.” He tightens his grip on her hands, placing them on his chest to feel his heartbeat, more frantic and pounding then it was when she felt it as he woke, “you’re the reason my heart is beating Kairi, you’ve kept me going since all of this started, I want you to remember that, alright?”
She bunched up the fabric of his shirt where she could feel his heart racing, some age old memory of when it was a sanctuary for her own heart surfacing, where his soul kept her safe without knowing. To think he thought the same of her, that she was something like that to him, it was hard to parse, impossible to believe, but he said it so earnestly what else could it be but the truth?
“Okay.” She answered, voice wavering, a wet, fragile smile on her face, pulling him closer so she could put her forehead to his collarbone, his chin tucking her in and his arms holding her in place and rubbing soothing circles on her back, “I won’t forget Sora, I promise.”
“I want you to live Kairi.” He spoke into her hair, placing another kiss on her crown, “I don’t want you to tear yourself apart to return some favor to me that you never owed in the first place, we’re even, you and I, always have been and always will be, and nothing will make me happier than to have you by my side,” he pauses for a moment, and she can feel him smiling in her hair, “that sound alright?”
“Perfect.” She answers swiftly, a pleased giggle bubbling in her chest as she nuzzled into him, holding him tighter, “that sounds perfect.”
They stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other’s warmth without moving, Kairi could feel her legs falling asleep but couldn’t find it in her to change positions, feeling so utterly content with the world and the angle she’s found for herself in it.
Eventually though, she could feel Sora shift slightly in her grip, though not out of discomfort. He opened and closed his mouth a few times, as if poised to say something but rejecting the words before they could fully form.
Reluctantly, she lifted her head from her cozy spot under his chin and looked up at him, wiping her eyes and smiling tiredly at him with no small amount of affection, “anything else you want to tell me, Sora?”
He visibly struggled under her gaze, pulling away one arm from his embrace to scratch the back of his head in a way the reminded her of a much younger boy, lounging on the sand while the world smelled of sea salt. “…yes.” He mumbled eventually, voice subdued as if he wasn’t sure he was allowed to speak this out, “but it’s…kinda stupid.”
If Sora, of all people, thought something was stupid, then it must be something utterly spectacular, which meant that Kairi really wanted him to say it, if only to have something to laugh at to lift the mood a bit.
“Didn’t I tell you I wanted to listen to everything?”
“Yeah but…” He looks away with a light blush on his face while scratching his chin and he was so cute Kairi had to hold back from kissing him so she wouldn’t interrupt, “but it's…really kinda silly.”
“Then you have to tell me!” She smiled up at him, searching for his eyes and smiling wider when she found his sky blue gaze locking with hers, “it’s been a heavy few minutes and I could use a laugh.”
Sora scoffed briefly, smiling incredulously at her as he sputtered, “well I’m not going to tell you if you’re going to laugh! It’s important!”
Despite his seeming outrage, he burst out laughing himself soon after, drugging her under as the previous heavy atmosphere from before dissipated completely. As soon as she could calm herself enough she grabbed one of his hands, still chuckling a bit as she squeezed it to get his attention, “if it’s important to you Sora, then I won’t laugh.” She let out a giggle when he raised an eyebrow at her, “okay I won’t laugh too much, but I will listen, I promise.”
He looked at her for a moment, his mind twisting itself into knots trying to come to a conclusion, before he sighed heavily and got up from the bed, turning her back on her and crossing his arms.
She blinked, flat-footed, “Sora?”
“Just…” He muttered, beginning to pace in front of the bed, his face severe in concentration, “just give me a second, I need…I need to get the words right…”
She blinked again, blank on what could have him so stuck on the words, but she stayed where she was, watching him slowly pace back and forth from one room of the wall to another. His lips moved without sound, as if sculpting the way for the words to come out properly without stumbling over themselves.
A part of her, a very childish, naïve part of her, had an innocent guess at what he was planning to say, but she pushed it back as far as she could before her face turned too red at the idea of it. It was a nice hope, but she shouldn’t raise such things so high, lest they shatter when they eventually fall.
Finally, Sora took a steadying breath, stopping right in front of Kairi and turning back to her, eyes nearly glowing with an emotion she found it hard to describe, something intense and bright that left her mouth dry.
Then, he took her left hand and held it between both of his, his palms wrapping it in a comforting warmth, locking gazes with her so she wouldn’t look away.
He then got down on one knee, and Kairi could vaguely hear the sound of a fuse shorting out.
She used her other hand to stealthily pinch her thigh hard enough to hurt, and sure enough the image of Sora, down on one knee, looking up at her with upmost love and devotion, did not dissipate and vanish, she wasn’t seeing things, this was actually happening.
She was so busy determining the reality of him that she almost missed him beginning to speak, “Kairi,” he spoke her name like a prayer, like a vow, softly and reverently, but firm and impossible to miss, “will you marry me?”
Kairi’s heart nearly exploded in her chest, her face flushing with heat as blood rushed up from seemingly her entire body to fill it. She had nothing, nothing to say to that, even after getting him back, even after hearing him tell her how he feels for her, her mind simply could not recover from the shock of hearing that.
Her mouth opened and closed a few times before she spluttered out a chocked, “what?”
Sora mistook her question for reluctance instead of disbelief, and kept going, “sharing a Paopu fruit means tying your fate to another person forever, making sure you’ll never be apart, right?” He barely waited for her to nod dumbly before he squeezed her hand between his palms and went on, “we shared two, and isn’t that kinda like promising each other two lifetimes?”
Kairi’s mind was too busy screeching a few variations of holy shit this is actually happening over and over for her to offer any kind of intelligent response to him, so she settled for a hesitant, “I-I guess?”
“I want more than that.” He leapt in as soon as she finished stuttering, her heartbeat going impossibly fast as he smiled up at her with so much hope and love she didn’t know how he could contain it all, “I want more than two, or three, or ten, I want every single lifetime I could possibly have to be beside you, I want to be by your side through anything life might throw at us next, I want to fight with you, travel with you, live with you and love you and be happy with you for as long as I can possible manage.”
She could feel more tears flowing down her cheeks, warm and happy.
“I…” He stopped for a second to catch his breath from the sudden burst he had earlier, edging closer to her while still on his knees, “I want…forever, with you, Kairi. I want forever, for as long or as short as forever end up being, I want to spend every single second of it with you.”
And finally, he’s done. Kairi could only sit there, looking down at this boy, young man, who loved her with all of his heart and then some, sit among the love and affection he promised to give her, and feel more at home than she’s felt in years.
She pulls her hand from him, and there’s a light note of panic in his face when she does, “you were right,” she says, with the warmest loving smile she can manage, putting his face between her palms again, “it really was a little stupid.”
The note of panic increased for a moment before she leaned down to kiss him deeply and slowly, letting the taste of him and his warmth and his love place itself in her memory, his shoulders lowering with relief.
She pulled away from him, smiling again, “stupid that you actually thought you had to ask when you already know the answer to that question.”
He blinked, bewildered both by the kiss and her words, before a sheepish grin lit up his face, “it is wrong to want to hear it out loud?”
She laughed warmly, pulling him back on the bed by his shoulders and leaning her forehead on his one more time, leaning in until their lips almost touched, “ask me again.” She pecked his lips quickly, too quickly for him to return pressure, “ask me again and you’ll hear it.”
He put his hands on her waist, the warmth and weight of his fingers pleasing and calming, and took a deep breath, “Kairi,” he started, voice low, tone confident and solid, “will you marry me?”
“Yes.” She promised, kissing him again as she did, “yes, I will,” she kissed him a second time, a third, a fourth, adding another promise between his lips every time she came up for air, and she’s lost in him again, his warmth surrounding her and flowing into her without restraint, “I love you Sora, I want forever too,” another kiss, I want forever with you.“
He groaned against her lips as he captured them again, his arms crushing her against his frame before they both collapsed on the bed, tangled up in each other so that neither knew where one began and the other ended.
The night passed in warmth and passion, and Kairi knew that this, this place, between the sky and his heart, was where she belonged.
-_-_-
Sora softly brushed a lock of Kairi’s hair behind her ear, placing his palm on her cheek as she slowly breathed in and out.
He was awake for about half an hour now, but he didn’t want to move, didn’t want to ruin this perfect little moment where the morning sun played tricks on Kairi’s dark red hair and her face was peaceful and calm and content.
They were both still in bed, of course, covered only by a blanket as Kairi slumbered and Sora waited for her to wake. He wanted this moment to last, to engrave the image of Kairi smiling in her sleep into his mind so he never forgot it, so he can remember his promise to make her happy.
She deserved this and nothing less, he decided, to be able to sleep peacefully in his arms and not doubt herself. Her tears from the night before haunted him, Riku’s words about how she nearly ripped herself to pieces ringing loudly in his mind.
He loved her, this truth echoed in him with every breath she took and with every beat of his heart as he laid near her. He wanted to give her peace and joy, to love herself as much as he loved her, he wanted her to believe in herself as much as he did.
He wanted forever, and knowing their luck, forever might not be all that long at all.
Riku was right, they were lucky, the three of them, maybe luckier than they deserved, but he was determined to make sure they wouldn’t need to be so lucky ever again.
He didn’t know what else the world had to throw at him, but he was ready, ready to fight it all, every single evil thing that lurked in shadow and hate he was ready for. He was ready to fight with her, to put his hand in hers and jump into the unknown with her knowing, knowing, they will come out the other side still holding on.
He’ll give her a home, a family, every little thing she deserved, and there was so much she deserved, he’ll give her, and nothing will keep them apart ever again. Not darkness or destiny or prophecy, nothing.
Forever would have to wait a while though, for now, Sora will content himself with Kairi’s sleeping face, the light catching on her eyelashes as she breathed in and out in a steady rhythm.
After a few more minutes of this, Kairi’s face scrunched up a bit, she mumbled in her sleep for a moment, Sora holding his breath to keep quiet and watch, wait for the moment where she saw him, to make sure he was the first thing she saw as she woke.
Soon her eyes, dull with sleep but brimming with joy, caught sight of him, and tiny tears formed at the edges of her eyes as she smiled at him, "Sora…” her voice wasn’t relieved, or surprised, but happy, truly happy, truly accepting that it wasn’t a dream, that what she was seeing was real and loved her, “you’re back…”
Smiling at her sleepy words, Sora leaned in and pressed his lips to hers in a gentle kiss, breathing her in as she smiled against him with a lazy tilt, nose to nose with her as he smiled back. “I’m home.”
Kairi’s smile was the most radiant, most sublime thing he had ever seen in his live. She kissed him, and home would never leave him again.

Ay, sorry to burst in again, but wondered if you had any ideas regarding a jealous Roxas or Ven? Like imagine some chucklefuck walks up to Sora (totally oblivious to the keyblade stuff ofc) and is just, "Hey cutie~"
Hey, no problem! ^.^
I got just the thing! Though, this may be more in the line of protective than jealous. Though, I suppose they can go hand in hand. This may also be a little darker than intended. Hope that’s okay!
SoRoku
I’d imagine in this scenario, Sora would be standing by himself since Roxas had to step away for whatever reason. He’d be taken back by the pick up line immediately thrown his way and wouldn’t know how to respond at first. Doesn’t help that the guy isn’t wasting any time trying to get in Sora’s personal space. Poor Sor is very uncomfortable by this and once he gathers his wits, he’ll simply say something like “I’m sorry, what?” because it’s not every day that he had some random guy refer to him as “cutie”. But, he’ll try to be polite and inform him that he’s already with someone. The guy just laughs and asks Sora why he’s standing all alone then and will begin on how he’s just playing hard to get and so on. While Sor can easily kick the guy away from him, he does not want to resort to violence since the dude is just a civilian, albeit a very stupidly arrogant civilian. Unfortunately, the stranger isn’t taking no for an answer and will attempt to corner him.
Little does the poor bastard know, Roxas is right at the scene and he does NOT look happy in the slightest. Rox will stop the asshole from going further and shoves him away. Turns out, Roxas definitely saw what was happening and was quick to make his way over. Rox is just staring him down, his face calm with murder in his eyes. Afterall, that’s HIS Sora the guy tried to touch. Sora is just relieved to see his boyfriend and runs over to Roxas’s side, the latter wrapping a protective arm around his waist still glaring the guy down.
Rox won’t beat around the bush and is all “This one’s mine. BACK. OFF.” Normally, Sora pouts at how posessive the bae gets, but he’s not minding it this time. The guy is red with anger but won’t back down, even going as far as to make comments towards Sora which pisses Rox off even more.
Sora will convince Roxas that they just go, not wanting the scene to escalate more than it has to. If the rando decides to be stupid and attempt to grab Sora again, he’ll get a fist in his face, courtesy of Roxas, and will be knocked out cold. Sora’s wincing but will sigh in relief that they’re merely unconscious.
The pair at this point decide to really bolt because this little confrontation did attract a small crowd. When they’re in the clear, Rox will ask Sora if he’s okay and go: “I can’t leave you alone for more than a minute, can’t I?”. Sora chuckles nervously “Guess not.” Then is all, “You didn’t have to punch him that hard, you know.” Roxas just looks at him in seriousness, “Yeah, I did, he tried to touch you. I’m the only one who gets to do that, remember?”. Sora’s blushing but then smiles. Roxas is smiling back and the two share a kiss before continuing on their excursion like nothing happened. Only this time Roxas doesn’t leave Sora’s side once and the two hold hands the whole way.
VenSora
Ventus’s approach would be a tad different. For one thing, he wouldn’t let Sora out of his sight for a minute and will lead him away so that the person wouldn’t have a chance to begin with.
However, if the guy still manages to approach Sora, Ven will just wrap an arm around his boy and subtly pull him closer to himself thinking that they’ll get the message. If that doesn’t work, He’ll calmly tell the guy that he’s making his boyfriend uncomfortable and that he please leave. Ven isn’t wrong, he knows that Sor isn’t liking the attention the dude’s paying to him. And Ven isn’t liking the way this rando is looking at Sora, making his protective instincts increase tenfold. Unfortunately, the dude isn’t letting up and is even going as far to wave off Ven and keep coming onto Sor even more, inappropriate comments in hand.
Poor Sor is clinging to Ven not knowing what to do since the stranger isn’t listening to reason.
Now, a personal headcanon that I have regarding Ventus is that he gets a more “Vanitas” side to come out if he’s pissed enough and the drive to protect is high. Considering that Van is Ven’s darkside, I feel in a VenSora sense, that would pop up in the form of Ventus’s protective and subtly possessive nature towards Sora. You can even say that Vanitas “shares” Ven’s love for Sora in the case that he makes sure the boy is protected by any means necessary.
Anyway, Ven will send Sora ahead, smiling and saying he’ll catch up with him shortly. Sora hesitates, worried about the boyfriend, but does do as he says after Ven tells him to trust him. Once Sor is safely out of sight, Ven quickly turns around and has the guy by the collar. His eyes have shifted from a soft blue to a dangerously glowing yellow. In a voice that’s deeper than normal, Ventus will warn the stranger that if he possesses an ounce of common sense, then he’ll know he oughta stay the hell away from his boyfriend. If he doesn’t, he better watch himself at night.
As expected, the dude’s scared shitless and scrambles away once released. Ven will be back to normal, watching the stranger bolt.
Ventus will then find Sora and assure him that the guy won’t be a problem anymore. Sora will get the suspicion that something else went down, but won’t comment on it. Instead, he’ll just embrace Ven while being embraced in return, cherishing the comfort being in his boyfriend’s arms bring. Ven is just holding Sora silently but protectively.
#soroku#vensora#I'll admit I find them both overly protective and possessive when it comes to Sora#can you blame them though#This may be more dramatic than intended oops

For @palizinhas‘s birthday. I finished the “epic” RiKai story I started working on for you last year, after all! I hope you enjoy! Oh! And it’s also SoRiKai, because that’s the only way I could get it to work for KHIII.
Changing the Curtain
Riku’s PoV
Riku had only gone to give Kairi her new outfit--he hadn't planned on staying in the Enchanted Forest long--but Kairi was too fast at changing... and apparently cutting her hair. So Riku saw her in her new look, that sent his heart sputtering despite itself. It was just that--even though she was clearly hanging onto some of her girly-ness--as she reached back to her tomboy side, in order to better fight, she was again acting like the girl he'd once been in love with. And Riku didn't know what to do with that, since he'd tried to move on from Kairi for his friends' sakes.
But at the same time… Sora had so much on his plate—and could be such an airhead sometimes—that Riku doubted his best friend would complement Kairi on her look… or anyone, for that matter.
Certainly not Lea, since he still walked on eggshells around her, and her teachers surely wouldn’t, nor any of the other guys.
So Riku did… He stammered it, of course, and tried to play it off that he just liked her hair short—to which Kairi giggled—but he still managed to tell Kairi he thought she looked cute without dying inside… and with most of his dignity still intact.
And when Kairi smiled at him—telling him that she liked his new hair better, too—and handed him a flower in thanks, he knew it had been worth it.
… The trio had decided to go back home before the War, and they were about to do so now. And Sora—as besotted to Kairi as he always was—had gone to put Kairi's luggage in the gummi ship for her. And everyone else was leaving to do their own thing... Even Master Yen Sid had mysteriously vanished... So Riku took the chance to talk to Kairi in a way he really hadn't since right before her training had started, because even their last conversation had been very few words. And so Riku meant to fix that now. "Kairi," Riku said, as he placed a hand on her shoulder to halt her progression down the stairs, and gently turned her to face him. "You’re doing a great job with training… but I think your jumps would be better, if you didn’t always change what foot you leap on. Do you think about what you’re doing before you do it, or-“
“I’m actually letting that part come naturally, since so much of it… isn’t. But I don’t know, do you think I should choose a foot and try to use that one before I fly?”
‘Fly?’ Riku wanted to ask. None of them were flying… unless you counted Sora the few times that he could still call upon what he’d learned from Neverland. But then Riku realized Kairi had used “fly” to mean “jump”. She just hadn’t said that—or “leap”—because he just had. And as a writer, Kairi was nothing if not a wordsmith. Riku winked at his best friend to let her know that he’d caught on to what she was doing, and that that would probably be for the best, yeah.
”Thanks- thanks for the advice, Riku. I feel most everyone else is afraid to give it to me, for some reason. But I know I can count on you! …Well, shall we go now Riku?" Kairi asked the last, as she took Riku's arm in her own and began walking down the stairs again. And yes, his breath might have stupidly hitched in his throat.
Then Riku couldn't help but to pat her head once, as he said: "Let's." And then they were soon heading out the door, going outside, and then helping a falling Sora get his and Kairi’s suitcases into the ship.
…
When they were on Destiny Islands, and about to visit their parents before the big battle--Sora had already gone to see his mom and dad; but as Riku and Kairi lived further away, and closer together, they were still waiting to have their goodbyes, themselves—Kairi asked Riku a question: "You seem to really have something on your mind... Can I help with it?"
And Riku doubted that she could with part of it, since… despite himself, he was starting to fall in love with her again—even though he did want her with Sora; he did—and he didn’t know what to do with it… and of course she wouldn’t, since her eyes had always been for Sora. But he imagined she could at least help with the other thing.
“So, Kairi… this is going to sound crazy… but you know my Riku Replica that I told you about? I, uhh, sort of found him when I was in the Realm of Darkness. And I guess he assimilated with me there? I don’t know… But I want him to be able to become his own person, too… But I also don’t want to force it on him, since it’s his choice in the end. But…”
Kairi was at her house now—exactly where she’d wanted to be before she went into a fight that all could easily kill her or any of them, Riku knew; Kairi had actually been the first one of them who’d suggested they tell their ‘rents something now—so he had to appreciate that even with that, she had paused outside of it and was giving him all of her time and attention right now.
“That is touchy, Riku. And I don’t know if I have the best answer for it… But I agree that he deserves to be his own person. And I’m sure Sora would, too. But you’re right, that it’s his choice in the end… I guess, if it comes down to it, give him time… Let him stay with you now, if he wants to be, but allow him to change his preference like I know Roxas and even Naminé are. Does that answer your question?”
And it did. It certainly did. But at the same time, Riku was impatient and wondered if there was still more he might be able to. “It does, Kairi… But I still think I’m going to take a moment by myself to see if I can come up with anything else.”
The smile Kairi was wearing before this, as she’d tried to help—and surely been ecstatic that she could—faltered just a little here, before it returned. “Okay, Riku. But come and visit with Sora and I soon. We- we always miss you when you’re gone.”
…
When Kairi and Sora shared the paopu fruits, he at first felt nothing. And not in a numb sort of way or an--I can't believe you'd do this to me--kind of one. Because this was what he'd expected for a long time--what he wanted for them, even--but after a while, it hurt. Yeah. For Kairi, who Riku was starting to get feelings for again. And perhaps for even Sora himself. Truthfully? Riku had had some feelings for him for a while. But when the Tornado of Heartless tore Kairi away from Sora; from them--and Sora reacted like that, as the army of Shadows then longed for Sora’s heart--Riku would feel awfulfor having again been jealous of what those two had. They truly deserved each other; and all the joy they could possibly find, in this tragic life. It wouldn't be until a bit later that Riku would realize he could fit into this life of theirs, too.
...
The first thing Riku was aware of after his death, was Sora in the background of his form--whatever was left of it--as the younger boy seemed to be trying to protect him from something, whilst Riku flickered in and out of consciousness and existence. But he also sensed Kairi, too, even as lost as he was. He could almost see her in Sora's heart... though Riku knew that wasn't quite right. And she seemed to be... praying for Sora to be able to save them all? So when Riku returned back to the Keyblade Graveyard--back to the land of the living--he knew those two would be okay, but still waited anxiously for their return. And Riku smiled at Kairi's newfound strength, as she was the one to steady Sora as they approached everyone. ... When Riku first heard that Kairi had been kidnapped by Xemnas, he'd been terrified for her. He'd stopped in his actions, and sent a concerned look Sora's way--internally begging his best friend to better fill him on the details, but Sora didn't. Too much had already begun to happen again. But the nightmare had continued, when Master Xehanort had summoned an unconscious Kairi--the bastard not even giving her a fighting chance!--and killed her before everyone's eyes, but especially Sora's. And then Riku was in shock, and transported back to what he'd felt when he'd had to lug Kairi's unconscious body around for a year. But this was so much worse than that, by a mile! And Riku fought back tears: not because Kairi didn't deserve them from him, but because he wouldn't give Xehanort the satisfaction to reacting to his sadistic show, like he surely wanted them to. The shock was the main reason Riku didn't react to attack Xehanort right away. But also, because he didn't want to mess up what Sora would do to Xehanort, if it'd work. But it didn't. And Riku lunged at the old geezer, himself--screaming the man’s name in red, hot anger: a ferocity he hadn't felt since he'd been so lost in the darkness in Castle Oblivion or when Saïx had Kairi--and that didn't work, either.
So, for the rest of the battle against the Thirteen Darknesses, Riku knew he had to focus on the world--like Kairi would have wanted him to--but in the back of his mind, he said the mantra "find a way to save Kairi. Find a way to save Kairi", over and over again: hoping that by thinking it so much, his wish would haveto come true. And wishing was part of the reason Riku didn't go with Sora to try and find Kairi, even though he wanted to do that more than anything else in the world. He told himself that since Sora hadn't been able to defeat Xehanort for Kairi by himself last time, the answer, then--in recompense for that--was that Sora alone would do what they hadn't figured out yet, and bring Kairi back. Because surely the multiverse couldn't be too cruel to Sora. Right? ... Right now? Riku was sitting with Kairi on the dock--after Sora had disappeared before their very eyes--and holding her in his arms (hoping to offer her some sort of comfort in this dark hour), as she rested away her head on his shoulder and looked out towards the horizon with lifeless eyes. And Riku wasn't too far from doing that himself. "Kairi, I'm so sorry," Riku said now, as he rubbed her arm and went over all the things he could have done differently in his head. "But I swear to you, we're going to-" But Kairi, amazingly, silenced Riku with a wink this time, and finger to his lips. "No, Riku... let me apologize to you. I- I want you to know I'm in love with you, too. And I think Sora also is... We should have shared paopus with you, too. But... our relationship has been rocky lately, hasn't it?” Riku was going to say something in response—that Kairi was being much too hard on herself, perhaps—but as she seemed lost in a trance now… and like she really needed to get these words off her chest, he just squeezed her shoulder slightly and listened. "We were so close when we were young, but your darkness scared me on our first journey... And I'm so sorry for that. But then on the second adventure, I realized that... more than I worried about the darkness, I missed you. And I showed youthat. And we- we were both so good together there. "I- I have fond memories of walking beside you while Sora was near his new friends,” And Riku smiled at this, because he’d felt the same way. That time in the Castle That Never Was hasn’t sent him reeling with jealousy the way seeing Sora with Donald and Goofy in the Vacant House had… but he’d still felt a little less sure of himself in Sora’s life; so it had felt good to have Kairi to bounce off of, who’d been dealing with some of those emotions herself. “But then you and Sora left again... and I horribly fell into my new, bad habits when it came to you. I can’t apologize enough, Riku… And I'm done waiting for anything to be right anymore. So, the two of us are going to find Sora, and then we'll finally all be together."
The expression Kairi wore now, was much like the serious and smirking one she’d adorned when she’d shown up at Master Yen Sid’s because she wanted to help… but somehow stronger, too. Riku could only hope that maybe he looked like that right now, too.
And the best answer he could give Kairi to this heartfelt speech, Riku found, was to kiss her on the head--the way he had dreamt of while she'd been asleep, near two years ago. But he hadn't dared it then. But now he did, and Kairi leaned into it as their legs tangled.
Then getting up at the same time, and stepping into the water, the two summoned their Keyblades at the same time and made a Corridor of Light towards Sora's location... and held hands as they stepped into it.

Dance
Pairing: Terra/Aqua, Kingdom Hearts
Rating: K
Setting: Post Kingdom Hearts 3
Notes: Okay so I had the Ed Sheeran song "Perfect" in my head the whole time I wrote this. My brother and sister-in-law danced to that song as their first dance and kay my heart melted SO here's some super sap lmao And I thought of Terra and Aqua the first time I heard it then too so I guess I'm the super sap hahaha
AO3
Destiny Island, Ven loved Destiny Island. The first time he ever stepped foot on the sandy beaches he was ready to toss off his clothes and dive right into the water; which he didn’t because he didn’t bring a swimsuit but he would’ve.
He did the very next time he went back to visit in the least.
It was warm and sunny and it always smelled like fresh fruit and sunshine. He loved the way the sand felt between his toes, how clear the water was that he could see all the fish swimming around, he loved jumping off the old bridges to catch the frisbee Axel intentionally threw too far, Ven loved it all. He’d move here if Terra and Aqua would let him. The lake back home was okay, but it couldn’t hold a candle to the beach.
“It’s a vacation spot,” Aqua would say with that amused look in her eyes as she’d rub some dirt off his cheek. “Even the people who live here don’t live on the island.”
Yeah, well, he’d make a house, like in the trees or something. Whatever, it was nice enough to just visit regardless. The waves tickled his feet as he laid flat on his back, the moon shining high above him, stars reflecting over the dark water. He sort of got dressed before collapsing on the semi wet sand to watch the stars rise, but he didn’t care too much if he got wet, the water was still so warm.
The fire was crackling somewhere behind him, music playing softly over the radio that Kairi brought with her today. He arched his head back to look at who was still around the campfire. It wasn’t too surprising that Axel was passed out off to the side, some jacket tucked under his head; he was probably snoring but the music was playing loud enough that it drowned him out. Roxas was fiddling on his phone with his back leaning up against Axel’s stomach, that would probably be a pillow before too long. Isa was still there too, his eyes watching the fire while he kicked Axel to get him to shut up. Xion was kneeling behind Isa, her mouth moving as she chatted about something, fingers moving in his hair where she was probably braiding it.
Ven had to arch his back into a weird position to see the rest of the fire pit but there was Kairi and Naminé sitting together on a log, exchanging pictures on their phones as well as flipping through her sketchbook. Sora and Riku where nowhere to be found; probably hunting through the caves together considering the only other people where Terra and Aqua, sitting on a shorter log off to the side. He had his legs kicked out closer to the fire and she was curled into facing him, listing attentively to what he was saying. They were close enough that their legs were touching but far enough that nothing else was.
Figures, Ven snorted as he let himself flop back down on the sand. A year. A year went by since that nightmare, and for the most part everyone was well adjusted and happy in their new roles and new lives. Except Ven’s stupid best friends.
Okay, almost a lie. They were well adjusted and happy, just not in the way Ven thought they should be. It was silly really, you love someone you tell them. Done deal. Oh, no, those two did just about everything you could possibly do to imply it but until one of them actually said it Ven was pretty sure they’d never know. Even when Terra literally would carry Aqua to bed when she stayed up late in library and fell asleep. Even when Aqua could predict a shifting mood in Terra so she could be there with a warm hand on his face to remind him he was alive. Even when he intentionally went to bed last every single night so he could shut off the lanterns while Aqua was tucked safe in bed, usually his if you wanted a double whammy. Even when neither of them looked at anyone the way they looked at each other.
Ven didn’t even really knew what it was like to be in love, how it felt, what it entailed and even he knew. Alright, it was a rough time back, hard adjustments even he felt that but things were good now, things were normal. The Land of Departure was going to be a school again, a safe haven for keybearers. Peace was returned, this was the prime time for love and all that crap. Ven couldn’t fathom why they still pretended like everything was the same, why they couldn’t say simple words that expressed how they felt.
In fact the more he thought about it the more frustrated he got. Even laying on the beach with the relaxing waves and soothing breeze he wanted to hit them both upside the head. If anyone in this world deserved to be happy it was them two and for some reason they refused to see that. Well, you know what, maybe Ven would make them see it.
He didn’t even know he had jumped to his feet until he heard Terra call his name.
“Everything alright, kiddo?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Ven said, jogging to head back over to the fire. “Saw a jellyfish or something.”
“Its dark out, how did you see a jellyfish,” Roxas asked though judging by how he didn’t look up from his phone it was probably more along the lines of “you absolutely didn’t see a jellyfish”.
“The moonlight,” Ven said, waving his hand generally towards the sky. “Stars, you know. I saw one, okay.”
Xion giggled from her spot behind Isa.
Roxas did look up that time. “Are there even any jellyfish around this island? I’ve never seen one.”
“Don’t antagonize, Roxas,” Isa said but he cracked a small smile when Kairi looked up to mouth “no” while trying not to laugh.
“Okay, okay,” Ven snorted. He should’ve known better they’d call his bluff, they always did. Some friends. He went to go sit by Aqua, trying to form some plan to get them to do something but it turned out he didn’t need to; her feet were tapping in the sand the to the beat of the music, head bobbing absent mindedly.
Oh, oh. Aqua loved music and she loved dancing. Kairi brought along the radio just because she thought it would be nice to have something to sing or dance along to. So far everyone had just listened along but he bet he could get some dancing going which could work out in his favor.
“Hey, Aqua,” he said, holding his hands out to her. “Dance with me.”
“On the beach?” she asked though she was already standing up to meet him. “I’m not sure how well my form will be on uneven ground.”
“Please, you’re good at everything.”
Aqua gave him a swat to his arm but she was already placing one hand on his shoulder and taking Ven’s in her hand. He placed his other on her waist which might’ve been weird because she was like his sister but he did it a million times before. Even when Ven started to move in the first dance steps that came to his memory, which she was right it was hard to keep a pattern when your feet kept slipping in the sand. Aqua looked more shocked than anything.
“What?” he asked. “Surprised I remembered?”
“No.” Her face melted into a smile. “You’ve just gotten so tall. You used to be a lot smaller when we did this.”
He felt his ears get hot at the sudden attention on himself; he knew Aqua was sentimental but that wasn’t quite what Ven was going for tonight. He spun her around pretty sloppily because of the sand but it made her laugh well enough before he pulled her back to him.
Terra was still sitting, watching them with an amused grin.
“Jealous I’m still a better dancer than you?” Ven said, sticking out his tongue as he moved to dance Aqua in a small circle.
“If you call that better dancing you can have it,” Terra snorted. He didn’t seem to mind one bit to not be the one dancing. Granted Ven also knew it’s not like Terra had any reason to be jealous of Ven or anyone here.
“He’s right, VenVen,” Roxas said.
There was a teasing glint in Isa’s eyes that used to be hard to see but he was getting better at it. “You can’t do better, I wouldn’t talk. Unless you’d like to prove me wrong.”
“Nope, I’m good.”
“Don’t talk the talk then,” Xion said, fingers grabbing some more of Isa’s thick hair.
That did give Ven an idea though. Looking over Aqua’s shoulder he managed to catch Naminé’s eyes. She was already watching them as Kairi was looking questionably at her phone; probably trying to figure out where the boys went off to.
Ven gestured his head to Terra, but Naminé only blinked in response. Ven moved Aqua around in a circle again, trying to mouth to Naminé while frantically nodding towards Terra. Her eyes blinked in recognition this time, her mouth forming a little “o”.
At one point she might’ve been too shy but now she easily stood up, walking over to where Terra was still sitting. “Terra?” she asked in that soft voice of hers. “Would you maybe dance with me?”
Ven was already celebrating his victory; like Terra would ever say no to that.
Sure enough he didn’t. He was already pushing himself up to his feet. “Of course, I’d be my pleasure.”
Ven tried to watch them more to make sure he could give Naminé more instructions but Aqua’s face cut back into his view, a grin on her lips as she spun him around this time. She was far better at it than he was, pulling him out and right back in with so much ease even the slippery sand didn’t make him feel like he was going to fall.
Aqua pulled him in closer that time, leaning so her face was near his ear. “What are you up to?”
“Me? Aqua, honestly, how could you ever think that?”
She laughed and it made Ven feel happier even than he was in that moment. He wanted her to always be happy, like this, carefree dancing on the beach in the middle of the night. There was really only one person who could do that for her every day, and it wasn’t himself.
Ven leaned back around when Aqua straightened up some. Naminé looked even smaller when she was standing in front of Terra. He still led her with surprisingly good form even though Terra hated dance class way back when. Naminé was giggling but Ven knew she was watching him out of the corner of her eyes. He couldn’t really tell her what he wanted to do so he had to hope she was intuitive enough to pick up on it; he was almost positive she was, even more so than most.
He mouthed, “now” and hoped she got the message. Ven quickly spun Aqua around but let her go, ducking under her arms to move out of the way. Naminé had done the same to Terra, spinning off to where Ven was standing and leaving Aqua and Terra facing each other, their arms still slightly extended where their partners once where.
“Your turn,” Ven said, Naminé reaching up to cover her laugh behind her hand.
Aqua pursed her lips, her cheeks puffing out slightly from the trick Ven pulled over them.
He shrugged in response. “Sorry, you gotta, thems the rules.”
“What rules?” Roxas snorted.
“The dance rules,” Kairi nodded even though there were absolutely no rules for this.
“Suppose you should get on with it then,” Isa said, and Ven didn’t miss the small wink Isa gave Xion, making her giggle too.
“Okay,” Aqua sighed, though she was grinning she wasn’t upset. “I suppose it’s the rules.”
Terra rolled his eyes, but was already reaching out for Aqua’s waist, taking one of her hands in his. “I don’t remember that rule.”
“You did it anyways,” Ven snickered, moving to sit on the now empty log. Naminé followed taking a seat between him and Kairi.
Terra ignored Ven at that point; in fact he was pretty sure Terra ignored everyone at that point. It didn’t really matter because the sight in front of Ven was exactly what he wanted.
Terra and Aqua fit together much better than Ven did with Aqua. Terra was still taller than her but she was the right height to match his movements easily. She looked like she was trying not to laugh, probably because they were sliding in the sand as they tried to mimic a ballroom dance. He did too, big grin on his lips; one Ven thought at one point he might never see again even after they came back home.
They were dance partners before Ven ever came along, they were partners in pretty much everything before and after Ven. He never took it personally; he knew they shared something different with each other then they shared with him. It just took him a while to understand the different ways you could love someone. It showed the most in situations like these where their partnership and their bond really shined. They were perfectly at ease following the simple steps in each other’s arms. Even when Aqua slide a little too far in the sand, nearly loosing her balance with a laugh Terra grabbed onto her waist holding her back up.
For a moment, Ven was pretty sure they forgot they were on a beach surrounded by their friends.
Aqua reached her arms up around Terra’s neck, the distance between them closing just a little more, their feet reduced more to small steps and sways and less like actual dancing.
Roxas breathed in like he was going to say something but a hand clasped down on his mouth before he could. Axel had his eyes open; maybe he was never really asleep to begin with. Roxas glared over but it was harmless.
Isa brought his finger to his lips. “Let them be.”
Ven would’ve rolled his eyes at the fact everyone knew but clearly the two in question but when he looked back to them, it wasn’t…It wasn’t like that.
Aqua had leaned her head down on Terra’s shoulder, her eyes shut with a sort of easy smile on her face. They had drifted a little bit away from the fire, partly hidden by the shadows from the palm trees nearby. Terra’s hands were pressed to her lower back keeping her close. He had his head tilted towards her as he said something that Ven supposed wasn’t for anyone else’s ears.
They knew. They absolutely knew. They knew how important they were to one another, they knew the comfort, they knew the peace, and they probably knew the love. It was never clearer than in that moment that they were each other’s worlds, all wrapped up in light sweaters from the chill of the beach at night, barefoot in the sand under a bright moon. They may not have done anything about it, that Ven knew of, but it wasn’t that they were oblivious or ignoring it. They embraced it even if they weren’t ready to say it.
Terra leaned her head against hers and her smile got wider, though her eyes never opened. They really were the only people they saw here right now.
Ven felt a soft hand on his shoulder. He looked over to Naminé; she was watching at the sky.
“They’ll be just fine.”
Where once he would’ve question that, because could they take any longer, they had already lost so much time why lose more? This time he felt a little more at peace. He glanced back over to them still dancing slowly together before watching the sparkling stars. The very ones he wished upon so many times both with his friends and alone. It was hard not close his eyes fondly at the memories and at the long life he had in front of him to spend it how he pleased; with the people he loved, his friends and his family.
He blinked his eyes open when he heard footsteps on the sand. Kairi stood up to wave when Riku was in view, Sora sitting up on Riku’s shoulders and waving so frantically it nearly knocked Riku over. Roxas had leaned over to show Axel something on the phone, something they were both snickering over. Xion was holding up some of the braids to Isa to make sure he liked the style she was testing on him; he always liked it. Terra and Aqua were still dancing, feet barely moving in the sand as the water lapped up from the beach.
Ven smiled, a sigh falling from his lips. Yeah, those two, they’d be just fine.

So a friend of mine told me that given that we are now in 2020, it will be fun if I did a top 20 ships of the past decade for me and boy, did I thought was a good idea and I have decided, why not right? I will be listing them here and...if followers decide to read it...well...
You will quickly notice that probably that most, if not all the ships fall on the following categories: a) rare-ships that are obv not canon; b) ships that are obviously crack; c) ships that had wasted potential, the ones hinted but never happened or briefly happened in canon and writers decided to fuck up. There’s also only one...one RL ship and I am ashamed yet not, but had to list it because I spent a long time hung up on it so don’t judge me.
So yes list...
Before the list, no list is complete without some honorable mentions, these are mostly ships I either got into the hype to recently (not being dedicated for years as the one I will list) or had my fancy then lost it.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Charlastor from Hazbin Hotel (recently got into it)
Clack from Final Fantasy VII
Cloud x Squall from Final Fantasy/KH series.
Hayffie from The Hunger Games.
TodoMomo from Boku Hero no Academia.
Gency from Overwatch series ( on and off )
RinMako from Free!
Terraqua from Kingdom Hearts series.
TOP 20 SHIPS OF THE PAST DECADE
20. Spuhura - Spock x Nyota Uhura (Star Trek original and reboot): Again this was another ship that I liked, since the original series, while everyone was Spirk this and that, I was like,’’yas, yas give me the sweet, sweet Spock and Uhura interactions’ and I was happy the reboot hooked them up, even if that ended dubiously but for a glorious moment, I had it.
19. Swarkles - Barney Stinson x Robin Scherbatsky (HIMYM): This is one of those ships I am bitter, bitter and salty about, there are more in this list in fact next spot is another one. But I loved it and I did think they complimented each other better than the wet noodle they stuck Robin with, they took the time to know the other, grown separately and then together, the episode where Barney proposed to Robin gave me all the feels and it was so sweet, and then fuck the writers deciding to do what they did. It’s no wonder the finale of this show is so hated.
18. Lotura - Lotor x Allura (Voltron Legendary Defender): When they announced a new reboot to Voltron I didn’t think much of it. I had fancied Lotor x Allura in the original series, as dubious as that was, but then I started to watch this Netflix thing and there was something between them, something more tangible and I was happy. It was this strong woman with an equally strong man encouraging her strength and not putting her in the box of the exotic pretty princess, like a certain dude, and wanted to know her mind and interests, they discovered things together and for a brief moment knew peace and I was here so happy that we were getting something good and then fuck the writers again that decided ‘Nah bro, you’re not getting it’ and you know to fuck off again. I will always have fan fiction I guess.
17. VinTi - Vincent Valentine x Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy VII series): This is a ship that I think started to like during my second playthrough of the game, I always figured the both could work, both having loved people that for one reason or another couldn’t fully love them back (Lucrecia due to damn guilt and Cloud because of Aerith) and both were mature enough to fit together, I just like them okay.
16. Helsa - Hans x Elsa (Frozen): Truly, I have never made it a secret that I really dislike this movie, I truly do. The only good things were Hans (which I am still huh at the ‘turns out he is evil’ I still call trolls) and Elsa (because of her damn powers) and then the next step was shipping them and honestly, he should have gone for the older sister lmao, they make more sense and there have very nice fiction out there.
15. Yuzuvier - Javier Fernandez x Yuzuru Hanyu (Figure Skating): Ahh, we have reached my dreaded and dark secret only RPF fancy. Be it broship or more, I always liked the friendship and camaraderie these two skaters had with each other, they were rink mates and rivals but above all friends. I was kokoro break when Yuzuru was telling Javi that he couldn’t do it without him and stop it you two. I just like them, they are wholesome.
14. Victuuri - Viktor Nikiforov x Yuuri Katsuki (Yuri!!! On Ice): And here we have another precious figure skating duo when I started to watch this series it was only because it was a figure skating anime and I love figure skating, I never expected to see a wholesome and wonderful healthy relationship to explode in front of me. The relationship between Viktor and Yuuri is just so lovely, so mature, they both worked through issues, grew from them and accepted them even and I can’t I love it. (Special mention here to Yurio x Mila, as is another ship I love from this series and so underrepresented).
13. Jonerys - Jon Snow x Daenerys Targaryen (ASOIAF/GoT): Regardless of the stupidity committed in the series, I have shipped them since the books, because I can read in between the lines and there are too many parallels between them and their journeys, ones that at will some point collide and bring them together in a way that will be worth it, so better make it count George.
12. Rhaegar Targaryen x Lyanna Stark (ASOIAF/GoT): Yes, mea culpa, I love tis ship and no one can shame me for liking it and boy has people tried to do so. Were these two smart of escaping like that and not saying a thing? Nope, they were so not. Was Brandon smart going to Kings Landing, knowing there was a crazy king with a penchant of burning people and demanding his heir's head? Nope, that was probably the stupidest move of all. Do I want to believe they loved each other? Why not? Martin has a penchant for tragic love stories, I know this ship is problematical for some, but I still love it and if you see spot 10 here, well I have varied tastes.
11. Soriku - Riku x Sora (Kingdom Hearts series): Come on, this is a given. Prior to Kairi appearing, it was clear Sora was Riku’s world and Riku’s was Sora, they were attached to the hip, the rivalry for Kairi more felt like Riku being jealous of Kairi and wanting Sora’s attention back. Then we have KH2 where Sora spent the whole damn game being all ‘Riku, Riku!’ and Riku doing his damn best to help him from the shadows, ashamed to be seen. DDD was more Riku protecting him and Sora leaning on him, even KH3 had Sora wanting to find and reach Riku, and then Riku going once again to find him by the end, so I am sorry but if there was a love story written here it was between these two.
10. Hannigram - Hannibal Lecter x Will Graham (Hannibal): Quite honestly, from all the things I ship, they are probably what one will consider the most toxic one I guess, which fair considering one part of the ship is a charismatic yet cannibalistic serial killer. But there was something in the way this relationship was developed by Fuller and brilliantly brought out by Mads and Hughs that just hooked me, their soft moments, their violent ones, it just somehow worked for me. I guess this is also one of the few canon ships that I have, funny enough.
09. Rivetra - Levi Ackerman x Petra Ral (Shingeki no Kyojin): Who will have thought that a series about human eating titans was going to give me one of my most everlasting and also shortlived OTP’s. Years can pass by and I will still love this ship, my heart will still believe there was something more between them, something that was realized or something that wasn’t, I don’t know, but I will forever love it and even though years have passed since she died, I always enjoy the hints here and there that he still remembers her or hints where we are supposed to do so.
08. Squinoa - Squall Leonhart x Rinoa Heartilly (Final Fantasy VIII): People can say whatever the fuck they want ‘the love story was rushed’ ‘we hate Rinoa’ (fuck you btw) but it doesn’t change the fact that Squall fell in love with her and that Rinoa helped him to open up, to not take things for granted and Squall taught her to be even stronger and conquer her fears, they helped each other grow and it’s what matters in the end.
07. Feanor x Nerdanel (Tolkien): This is probably, from all the romantic relationships that Tolkien has gifted us, which I have loved the most and held my attention the longest. They have the happy times, the ones that were full of joy when they met and fell in love and had their children, then we have the tumultuous times when he became too obsessed with this craft, the separation when he left with their kids leaving her behind in her pain and then their possible reencounter when he leaves the Halls of Mandos and how they might deal with it.
06. ItaHina - Itachi Uchiha x Hinata Hyuuga (Naruto): Both the heads of two of the most important clans of their villages, both with heavy expectations upon their shoulders that nearly broke them, only one was talented from the start and the other had to learn, yet they are also similar. Both love their siblings to a fault, sacrificing so much for them and their happiness, both seem to hate conflict yet know is necessary and both are devoted and loyal to a fault, they would have suited each other wonderfully, in an AU probably they would have gotten engaged, who knows, but it would have been wonderful.
05. SessKik - Sesshoumaru x Kikyou (Inuyasha): A ship that could have been but that we didn’t have. This is a ship that has been with me for years and I don’t plan to let it go, they were the best players (in a sense) in that game against Naraku, also probably the strongest, both level headed and smart, not easily intimidated and calculating, together they would have been quite a formidable force and it’s a shame we didn’t get to see that.
04. Bethyl - Daryl Dixon x Beth Greene (The Walking Dead): Another wasted potential and gone so soon, not to mention forever salty at the waste. The way they were being developed promised so much, in the few time he was with her, well, she taught him to have faith and it’s something that apparently still shows from times to times (I am not sure as I stopped with this show) and imagine how it will have gone if they had more time. Just a waste.
03. Romanogers - Steve Rogers x Natasha Romanov (Marvel/MCU): I have been shipping them for years, like honestly, and when the MCU was showing me the seeds of potentiality I was happy, not even that stupidity with Bruce killed my hope, as they still had this steady relationship, he trusted her and she trusted him, something that she couldn’t say of many, they had each others back and took care of the other...but again another wasted potential right there.
02. Huddy - Gregory House x Lisa Cuddy (House MD): I spent years, kind of, season after season watching the delicious and lovely UST between these two characters, watching them snark and then help each other, watching the ‘won’t they will they’ dance, waiting for the moment when these two will finally collide and my lord was it glorious when they finally did, and I was eager to see where it went, as they both seemed to be in relatively good places, but no once again forbid the writers to stop House from being self-destructive and another ship I had waited years was ruined.
01. Terrence "Terry" Graham Grandchester x Candice "Candy" White Adley (Candy Candy): And this is still my most important ship of the decade, I was forever bitter they never ended together and that their authors decided to make them suffer so much, but then Final Story came and all clues were pointing that aha they did found the other again and ended together as they were supposed to be, and before anyone says shizz, I did manage to read the novel and I do believe all hints were there to let us all know the identity of her husband was Terry and I am so happy.
And there it is, all the ships of the decade for me lol. Next stop, I should maybe make a list of mythos ships I like lmao.

KH AkuRoku Ficbit, possibly to be continued
Roxas’s magic shop was one of the first legal ones to open up in Exile Bay, and even though more witches had opened doors by bow his was still among the most reputable. He was young and had almost zero known associates professionally or personally, but he worked hard and the spells he sold were always top quality.
It was probably, he reflected, his good reputation that kept attracting freaks to him.
Today’s douchebag was a redhead who was taller than could possibly be reasonable, spiky hair and sharp eyes and swagger that was basically everything Roxas couldn’t stand all at once. He was never going to one of Sora’s parties again; his brother had the absolute lamest taste in friends.
“Do you know why the sky is blue?” Started the sort-of-handsome-ish stranger in front of him.
“Because blue light’s short wavelengths are scattered through the atmosphere more easily?”
The redhead laughed. “Really? And here I was thinking it was because the sky saw your eyes and got jealous.”
“You’re lame,” Roxas answered back instantly. He shouldn't even be here. He should be at home working on a cure for Namine, or at least something for a client if he couldn't get anywhere on that front. Or even just doing his dishes, or like his fucking taxes or something.
“A little lame, sure. But I prefer to be called Axel. A-X-E-L, got it memorized?”
“Never,” Roxas lied. “I have instantly forgotten you.”
Axel laughed again, for some reason charmed by Roxas’s icy blow-offs, and there was officially no getting rid of this guy.
Roxas let him ramble on with little more than a roll of his eyes, and was stuck with him for the rest of the night for it. Red hair, probably unstable personality, and the faint smell of smoke and wood. This guy was definitely an ifrit, possibly a lower class spirit but certainly a fire elemental of some sort.
Hm. That was interesting. A lot of his spells were potions that required extremely precise temperature control to make right, and a fire elemental would be a perfect lab assistant to have around when he needed to make something fast for a client. Too bad this guy was way too annoying to offer a job to.
Having decided such, he pretty much ended the conversation by walking away when Axel was mid-sentence. Didn’t just leave the room, left the entire party straight up. How’s that for a rejection, Mr. Confidence?
It was of course, far from the last time he saw him.
—
Axel showed up at his shop an appropriate three days later, greeting Roxas with a smile and idly browsing the shelves like his presence had absolutely nothing to do with having spent the better part of two hours hitting on the witch just days before.
Roxas’s shelves were honestly lined with samples, ingredients and junks spells, not actual products he intended to make money off of. Well the hair growth and removal tonics and energy potions all sold like hot cakes, but the real business had always been in custom spells for clients. The entire storefront here was basically just decoration to lure in those specific high paying customers, and window shoppers like Axel were just a nuisance.
“You really don’t need to sleep for three days if you take one of these little pills?” The nuisance asked, poking at a bottle near the window.
Roxas held back a sigh, trying to ignore Axel in favor of the notes he was working on. “Mm-hm,” he confirmed in a mumble. “Comes with a half-day long hangover that’ll split your head open, but I sell cures for that, too.”
Axel whistled, impressed. “Sounds unhealthy. Just like any good party is, am I right?” To spite his comment he didn’t stop browsing the products, eventually pulling a book on ley lines off the shelves and forcing Roxas to accept the fact he wasn’t going anywhere any time soon.
Fine, let him do what he wanted. Roxas had work to do, and he had just figured out the ratios he’d need to start crafting this steady-hand potion for Mrs. Boreux’s Parkinson’s and was ready to fire up his cauldron.
Hm. Speaking of…
“Hey,” Roxas said, standing up from his desk to head to his unlit fireplace. “Make yourself useful and gimme a spark.”
Axel laughed, sauntering over to Roxas’s cauldron to spit a spark at the firewood beneath, instantly starting them into a burst of fire when the tiny flame hit it.
“Very nice,” Roxas praised accidentally, admiring the steady orange flame that had erupted.
His cauldron was small, because no one needed one bigger than a crock pot in real life unless they were mass producing soup for an entire mess hall. Water was always the first thing to go in the pot, because it wasn’t made of living matter and couldn't be affected by his magic and therefore made the perfect base to heat up and break down the other ingredients.
Also, you know. Kind of hard to make a potion that wasn’t wet.
This was at it’s heart a healing spell, one meant to affect the nervous system specifically. Healing spells always used more plant matter than animal, so the main ingredient to the potion itself was just foxglove and cattail cotton. The only blood he needed was his own, the magic in it more than enough to catalyze such a simple spell, his power activating the latent magical effects the ingredients by themselves couldn’t achieve without him.
The word ‘witch’ wasn’t his job title after all, it was who Roxas was down to his very being. He was born a witch, couldn’t stop being one if he wanted, just the same as the humans couldn’t stop being human.
The cauldron was at full boil now, Roxas and Axel both hovering around it watching as the floral ingredients boiled off like a giant vat of unstained tea. “I need the heat up,” Roxas demanded, brows furrowed in concentration as he grabbed the small vial of his own drawn blood out of his pocket.
Axel glanced at him, then down at the fire beneath the cauldron for half a moment until it turned bright blue with heat. Carefully, Roxas measured out two drops of his blood to let them fall into the boiling tonic, watching as each green-black beads hit the water and capping the vial once more.
The magic in his blood reacted instantly, sizzling in the water and evaporating into pure mana in seconds. The yellow-green of his magic spread from that spot, curling out to stain the potion in his color until the waters turned pitch black from plants and blood and magic. The black burned away in another few seconds when Roxas asked for the heat to be turned down to a simmer, the smell of the smoke rising from the cauldron turning sweet and floral from it’s acrid stench of burned foxglove until the water stopped boiling and the now golden-colored potion was at its completion.
Both of them stared at the potion for a few more minutes, even though letting it simmer wouldn’t really do anything for it one way or another now that it was complete. “That was kind of awesome,” Axel said eventually, and Roxas batted down the automatic swell of pride that came with being praised.
“Thanks,” Roxas said back. “But you don’t even know what it does or if it works.”
“Still cool to watch,” Axel shrugged with a smile that shouldn’t have looked honest. “You never get a chance to see magic in action like that nowadays. You know, not REAL magic, anyway.”
Roxas finally let himself actually look at Axel properly. “And controlling my fireplace with your mind doesn’t count as magic?”
“Not if I see it every day it isn’t.” Which… was such a ridiculous answer it actually pulled a short laugh out of Roxas.
He pulled the cauldron off the fireplace and over to his work table to strain, pouring it into filtered pot that would catch any remaining planty bits still floating around in the potion. “Thanks for your help,” he offered eventually, ready to give Axel his full attention just out of gratitude at this point. “You saved me about an hour of careful fire-poking to get the temperatures just right. Potions like that can be a real pain in the ass.”
Sharp green eyes narrowed even further with Axel’s smile. “So, does this mean you owe me a favor?” He practically purred, long body towering over Roxas in a flirty forward lean.
Roxas thought about it. “Sure,” he supposed, eyeing Axel critically. “As long as you don’t expect anything stupid.”
That strange smile that seemed way too sly to be honest, but Roxas couldn’t help but trust anyway. “Go out for ice cream with me.”
He felt his own eyes flutter in surprise. “Huh?”
Axel’s smile, if anything, only grew wider.

Struggle
For SoKai Week Day 4 - Jealousy / possessive / protective tendencies. Contains stuff based on promotional material for KH3, so here be potential KH3 spoilers. Read at your own risk.
“Kairi’s here?!” Sora asked, his heart pounding. He looked from Donald to Goofy to the Twilight Town gang lounging around the Usual Spot. “I mean, she’s really here?” He remembered the time he’d come here only to find out he’d just missed Kairi. He wasn’t about to get his hopes up again till he was sure. “Yup!” Hayner said, grinning. “Really really.” He closed one eye and aimed, and the dart landed right on the bullseye. “She’s excited to see you, too,” Olette said, clasping her hands together. “You should see her new outfit. She looks great!” “Yeah! She kicked some serious butt when she took on those Nobodies!” Pence swung his arm around and made the appropriate thwacks and booms and whooshes. So her training was coming along well, just like her letter had said. Sora wondered if things were going okay with Lea, too. He still wasn’t sure how he felt about the two of them training together, but if she was okay with it, who was he to argue? “Where is she?” he asked. “Oh, she’ll be right back,” Pence said. “Said she was gonna buy more potions and stuff.” Sora frowned. “She’s alone?” He didn’t like the sound of that, not one bit. “She can take care of herself, trust me.” Hayner gave him a sly smile. “I think you’re in for a real surprise when you see her again.” Sora turned to Donald and Goofy. “I’m gonna go find her.” “You heard Pence, she’ll be right back,” Donald quacked. “It’s better if you wait here with us.” Goofy put his hand on Sora’s shoulder. “Awww, Donald, let him go. Can’t you see how badly he wants to see her?”
With that Sora took off. He pushed aside the old canvas that kept the Usual Spot Hidden, running through alleyways and past buildings and up and down slopes. If she was buying potions, he knew exactly which shop to look at. His heart pounded in his chest, and not just because he was running. He reached the Tram Common, searching everywhere for her. Not by the accessory shop, or the armor shop, or— There. She was standing by the sea-salt ice cream stall. Sora skidded to a halt and stared. Her red hair was pulled back in a ponytail. She wore a pink dress with black lining, her white tank top peeking out from underneath and drawing attention to her chest and the necklace resting on it. The skirt and sleeves of her dress even had plaid on them, much like the lapels on his jacket. Matching. They were matching. He grinned at the thought. The fairies must have designed her outfit with his in mind. His gaze continued to wander. Her training had paid off, because even though she was just standing there, he could see the tone and muscle to her arms and legs. And her black boots looked like they could do some serious damage if she wanted to kick someone. Olette was right. She looked great. He took a deep breath and was about to call out to her when he noticed she wasn’t alone. A guy wearing a beanie and jacket and sweatpants was talking to her. With a shock Sora realized who it was. Seifer. Seifer handed her a stick of sea-salt ice cream. She waved it away, but he grinned and insisted she take it. “It’s my treat. Think of it as a thank you for helping me back there.” “Really, I shouldn’t,” she said, even though she was smiling like she wanted to. That’s the way she always smiles at me. Sora felt like he’d been punched in the gut, because he’d just had one of those moments of clarity where everything sort of clicks into place. He’d taken her for granted. He’d taken whatever it was between them for granted. He’d thought that once Riku had backed off, he didn’t have to worry about someone else winning her heart and sweeping her off her feet and whisking her away from him. How wrong he’d been, and here was the proof right in front of him. He couldn’t blame her, either. He was always leaving her behind, always asking her to wait for him instead of inviting her to join him on his adventures like he could have. Like he should have. “C’mon, it’s the least I can do,” Seifer said. She hesitated, and he smiled even bigger. “You know you want it.” She chewed her lip and stared at the ice cream, which was starting to melt. “Thank you, but I really should be getting back,” she finally said. Relief washed over Sora. At least she wasn’t going to take the ice cream. But Seifer was not so easily deterred. Sora watched as he cracked some stupid joke that made her laugh. At least it wasn’t her real laugh, just her polite laugh, but Seifer didn’t know her well enough to tell the difference. He took it as his cue and put his hand on her arm, and the yellow-eyed monster inside of Sora came roaring awake. Seifer saw him first. He looked from Sora to Kairi, and he knew. His stupid smirk made Sora want to punch him in the face. But then Kairi turned around, and a smile lit up her face that stopped him from giving in to the monster, which currently wanted to beat Seifer to a pulp. “Sora!” she cried, running over and throwing her arms around him. He brought her as close as possible, one hand firmly on her back and the other wrapped around her waist so he could guide her chest and hips to his. “S-Sora?” she sputtered, probably not expecting the full body hug she was getting right now. He shot Seifer a look over Kairi’s shoulder, and Seifer crossed his arms, just barely avoiding smearing ice cream all over himself. “I’m glad you’re here,” Sora said, giving his full attention back to her. “I couldn’t wait to see you.” “Me either.” She melted in his embrace, and for a moment he forgot all about Seifer and focused completely on her, on her scent and warmth and how perfectly they fit together, like two halves of one whole. But Seifer didn’t like being forgotten or ignored. As soon as the hug had ended and before Sora had the chance to ask Kairi anything about her training, he strode over, one hand holding the dripping sea-salt ice cream and the other stuck in his pocket. “Sora, long time no see,” he said, taking a big bite of the ice cream. “I thought I told you to come back ten years from now.” Sora put his arm around Kairi and forced a laugh. “I thought you were joking.” Seifer shrugged. “Maybe, maybe not.” He took another bite of the ice cream. “I can see now why you wouldn’t accept my gift, Kairi. Clingy guys are the worst. You could do a lot better than this loser.” Sora’s eyes narrowed, and the dark, shadowy creature inside of him snarled. “What did you say?” Kairi put her hand on his chest and shot him a warning look before plastering on a smile and turning back to Seifer. “Don’t mind Sora. He just wants to keep me safe. I’ve… been through a lot lately, and that… brings out his… protective instincts.” Protective instincts, sure. “Safe?” Seifer scoffed. “You don’t need some loser to keep you safe. Not with the way you fought back there.” “Sora…” Kairi warned. The darkness inside of him was hissing and growling, waiting for his brain to give his body the signal to give in to it and— But he couldn’t. Not with the way Kairi was looking at him. He took a deep breath and forced himself to relax. “C’mon, Kairi, let’s go,” he managed, and she looked relieved. They turned to leave when Seifer just had to get in one last potshot. “She’s got you whipped.” Sora froze, vaguely aware of Kairi saying his name. But he whirled around and faced Seifer one last time. “This isn’t the time or the place, Seifer,” he said, his voice warping and darkness oozing off of him. Seifer’s face went pale and he dropped his ice cream. Good. But Kairi was looking at him with a mixture of horror and concern, and he used every ounce of self-control left in his body to keep Anti-Form from coming out. “Meet me tomorrow at the Sandlot,” he managed, his voice returning to normal. “We’ll settle this once and for all there.” Seifer stared at him for a moment before recovering his composure. “R-right. You better not chicken out, loser.” With that, Sora stalked off with Kairi right at his heels. Or at least that was how things started, but she soon grabbed his arm and pulled him into a side alley covered in old Struggle Tournament posters. “What was that all about?” she demanded, pushing him against the wall. Several of the posters fell to the ground and were carried off by the breeze, and she put her hands right by his head so he was pinned there. A kabe-don. Trying to pull one off on someone bigger and taller than you took guts, but he had to give it to her. She’d succeeded. “K-Kairi?” He looked from the posters scrunched up underneath her trembling fingers to her face. She was glaring at him and he didn’t know what to say or do. “The darkness, the possessiveness!” she said, her eyes flashing. “That was creepy, Sora!” Sora couldn’t believe his ears. “Creepy? Creepy?! Seifer was the one who wouldn’t leave you alone! You kept telling him you didn’t want his stupid ice cream, but he just wouldn’t take the hint! He’s the one who was creepy!” He stared her down, but she just stared right back at him. “If he really was a problem,” she said, “I would have done something about it. I can take care of myself just fine now, thank you very much.” Several tense seconds passed between the two of them, the only sound the tattered posters bumping against the walls and the loud breaths he and Kairi were taking. Then she released him. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she sighed deeply. “Just what were you trying to prove? You really freaked him out the way you acted, oozing darkness and threatening him and acting like you own me. Well guess what, you don’t.” “I don’t think I own you!” Sora protested, swatting away a poster that flew into his face. “I just… I saw you talking to him, and then you smiled and I—” “Oh, so now I’m not allowed to even smile at other guys because it might make you jealous?” “No! That’s not what I meant!” He caught one of the dratted posters and crumpled it into a ball. “Just listen to me for a second, will you?” She crossed her arms and tapped her foot. He didn’t have much time to explain himself. Best to get to the point. “I took you for granted,” he said, dropping the balled up poster to the ground. “After you gave me your lucky charm, I just… I thought I could go off and do whatever, and you’d always be waiting for me when I came back. But then I got your letter about your training, and I realized I was wrong. It wasn’t fair of me to ask you to wait, and I’m sorry.” She didn’t say anything, so he continued. The words came tumbling out all at once, faster than he could control them. “I was scared. I was scared I might lose you. I saw you with Seifer, and I realized that there was nothing stopping you from dumping me and finding someone else. I would have deserved it, too, the way I kept leaving you behind.” Kairi raised her eyebrow. “You really think I’d go for a guy like Seifer? He’s not my type at all.” “But… you do have a type.” Sora had never asked her what it was, and he was almost afraid to know. She tapped her cheek. “Hmmm, yes. I like guys with spiky brown hair, blue eyes, cute smiles, maybe just a little too much confidence, enough sass for three and a half people, sacrificial tendencies that make me wonder if they have any sense of self-preservation…” Sora didn’t say anything, so she playfully swatted his arm. “You, silly! You’re my type! Geez, you’re dense. There’s not even any competition. You’re so far ahead of all the other guys you’re on a different planet!” Sora’s face flushed at this, a warm feeling spreading through his chest. “You don’t have to prove anything because there isn’t anything to prove,” she continued. “Seifer was the one following me around like a lost puppy. All I did was fight a couple of Nobodies for him, and he wouldn’t leave me alone after that.” Sora sighed, relieved to hear that was why she’d been talking to him. Still, he wasn’t happy that Seifer couldn’t read a social situation to save his life and had borderline harassed her. He thought of Jafar and his creepy obsession with Jasmine and shuddered. “Trust me, I know his type,” he said. “He won’t leave you alone till I’ve beaten him.” “I don’t like that,” Kairi said, frowning. “Why won’t he accept that I’m not interested? Why do you have to get involved?” “Because some guys are just like that.” “Well, those guys are jerks,” she said, and Sora couldn’t help but chuckle, because she wasn’t wrong. “Yeah, real jerks,” he said, and she smiled back. But then she chewed her lip and looked at him like he was growing a second head or a third eye. “What’s wrong?” he asked. “You. Are you okay?” She put her hand on his arm. “With the darkness back there, I thought that…” “I’m fine,” he said. “You helped me stay in control. It’s mainly just a problem when I’m fighting, and even when it does come out it’s not all bad. I get a pretty sweet strength boost, for one.” She gnawed on her lip some more, a heavy look in her eyes. “If you say so.” He put his hand on her face, and she searched his eyes. “You’re thinking this wouldn’t be a problem if I hadn’t ever turned into a Heartless, right?” he asked. She nodded, and he ran his thumb across her cheek. Her skin was soft and smooth, very different from his dry, sun-weathered face. “But then you wouldn’t be standing here beside me,” he said. “I’d say I got a pretty good deal, all things considered. Most people just die when they stab themselves in the heart, but I got you back and I—” “That’s not funny,” she said, her eyes dark. “Sometimes it’s the stuff that isn’t funny at all that you have to joke about,” he said softly, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. She just looked at him, and he smiled sadly at her. “It really is good to see you, Kairi.” She thought for a moment, then lifted first one of his arms in the air, and then the other. He looked from his outstretched arms to her, not really sure what to make of this. “Kairi?” “I want a proper hug,” she explained. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close. “Like this?” “Yes.” He laughed softly. “Sorry about the hug earlier. You were right to call me out on that.” “Well, if we’re apologizing for things we shouldn’t have done, then sorry about the kabe-don,” she muttered. “That was crossing a line.” “Mmmmm, I was mainly just impressed you pulled it off.” “Impressed, huh? I could always do it again,” she teased, her voice sending a thrill down his spine. “If you do, I might not be able to hold myself back anymore,” he murmured into her ear. “S-Sora!” She pulled back, her face bright red, and he just grinned. “Kidding.” He offered his hand and she took it. “What do you say we continue this conversation someplace else? Not that a sketchy alley and a bunch of old Struggle Tournament posters aren’t nice, but—” She picked one up off the ground. “Hang on, I’ve got an idea. You were the one who challenged Seifer to a match, but there’s no rule that says I can’t join too, right?” She had that spark in her eyes she always got when she’d come up with some grand plan. “Not that I know of,” he said. She clutched the poster in her hand. “Then I’m going to enter the tournament with you and Seifer. I want to show you how far I’ve come in my training.” He smiled. “I can’t wait. The Twilight Town gang told me all about what you’ve been up to.” She flushed pink. “Really?” “Really really.” And that was how Kairi beat Seifer in the Struggle Tournament. Sora didn’t even get the chance to fight him, because she knocked him out in the preliminary round. Once the townspeople had heard there was going to be a fight, several more people had asked to sign up. The Struggle tournament organizer was thrilled for any excuse to have another match, especially one with Seifer involved, so it had soon became a full blown tournament in its own right. And Kairi’s training really had paid off. She’d moved beyond the basics and was coming into her own fighting style, with lots of rapid attacks and sleights of hand and quick dodges. Oh, and kicks. So many kicks. Her skirt and boots had been designed the way they were for a reason. She fought with her legs as much as her arms in a graceful, deadly dance. Sora could have watched her for hours on end and never gotten bored. They both fought other people, their names moving up the bracket, till at long last it was the final round. She faced him now, bat in hand, a big smile on her face. Their friends, torn in their loyalty, alternated between shouting her name and his. “Don’t hold back now,” she said and winked. He smiled back. “I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Hello ! I join the club of demands KH boys haha ! Can I ask you for a Kh boys (light side too, like Anon') with a jealous reader please ? Thank you, I hope you'll have fun and you can put as many fluff as you want :D
KH Boys When You’re Jealous
Warnings: GN!Reader and tooth-rotting fluff
Sora:
Sora hasn’t been paying attention to you and been paying attention to Kairi. He’s been talking to her more and hanging out with her more. You didn’t want to admit it but, you were super jealous. One day, you sat on the beach with a scowl as you pictured Sora with Kairi together. Sora noticed your attitude change and came to talk to you.
“Hey, what’s wrong?” he asked.
“N-nothing. Don’t worry about it.”
“Doesn’t seem like nothing. You can tell me.”
“I said it was nothing.”
“Are you jealous?”
“What?! No!”
“You’re jealous. You don’t have to be though. I only love you.”
“Promise?”
“Cross my heart.”
Riku:
Riku knew how easily jealous you got. Especially when it came to missions. Riku was discussing a mission with the king and you sat in the corner, pouting. Riku saw how jealous you looked and came over to you.
“Are you jealous?”
“Maybe.” he chuckled.
“Come on. Let’s go cuddle.” You jumped into Riku’s arms like a koala. Riku brought you to his room and you cuddled for the rest of the day.
Terra:
Terra had been training with Aqua. First, it was just one training session, then it became a once week, and now it was every day. You sat in your room being jealous. Terra finished his training session with Aqua and saw that you weren’t waiting for him outside like usual.
‘Maybe they forgot.’ he thought. He went inside the castle(is the land of departure a castle?) and saw that you weren’t there. He went to his room. Nope, not there. He then went to your room and saw you sitting on your bed being jealous.
“Whatcha you doing?” he asked.
“N-nothing.”
“Really? It seems to me that you’re jealous.”
“What? I’m not jealous.”
“Sure you’re not. Guess I’ll go train with Aqua again.” You ran up to Terra and wrapped your arms around him, begging him not to.
“I knew it. You’re jealous.”
“Maybe.”
“It’s okay, babe. You’re the only one I love.” He turned around and gave you a gentle kiss.
Ventus:
Ventus has been hanging out more with Chirithy. You couldn’t blame him. He hasn’t seen Chirithy for so long. But you couldn’t help but feel jealous. You sat outside and watched the sunset, trying to get your mind off Ventus and Chirithy.
“There you are, baby! I’ve been looking for you all day. What’s wrong?” he noticed you didn’t hug him like normal.
“It’s nothing. Why don’t you go hang out with Chirithy. You seem to pay a lot more attention to them than me.”
“Baby. Are you jealous?”
“Maybe.”
“Baby. You don’t have to be jealous. Chirithy’s my best friend. You’re my baby. I love you so much.” He always know just the right thing to say. You sat on his lap and hugged him.
“I love you.” you whispered.
“I love you too.”
Axel:
Axel had been hanging out with Saïx way too much in your opinion. He’s been out with him, always talking to him. It annoyed you so much. You laid on the couch waiting for Axel so you could have movie night like he promised. He opened the apartment door and saw you on the couch, stalking his KeyGram page.
“Hey, cutie. Whatcha doing?”
“I don’t know. Why don’t you go ask Saïx?” you snapped.
“Whoa, easy firecracker. You don’t have to get all jealous.”
“I’m not jealous.”
“Yes you are. It’s pretty obvious.”
“Okay. Maybe I am.”
“You don’t have to be jealous. Now let’s have our movie night.”
Roxas:
You loved Roxas. But when he has been hanging out with his friends more and not you, you got slightly jealous. And Roxas thought that was the cutest thing ever. You and Roxas were on a date and only bought an ice cream for yourself. Roxas knew that you were jealous when that happened. He bought his ice cream and took you to the clocktower.
“Why’re you jealous?” he asked.
“You’ve been hanging out with the others too much. I miss you.”
“I’m sorry. Here, I’ll do anything you want me to.”
“Anything?”
“Yep.”
“Let’s go. I have so many things I want you to do.”
