Shuraiya Bascùd from One Piece!!!
AUGH! This man was way too cool to just be from a One Piece movie and never show up again!! The way he fights, his voice, the way he cares so much about his sister! He's so fksbfjsnfjsnfjsnfnd!! The Movie isn't canon but I think it's fun to imagine my s/i having the biggest crush on this guy during it! They're all 😳 and the rest of the crew is ???
But yeah! The reason he isn't an f/o is because he isn't canon to the main plot and most importantly because just can't see my s/i with anyone else but S.anji. It sounds kinda silly but I just love the story and relationship they have with S.anji so much that i just can't see them with anyone else! And so Shuraiya will forever remain a crush and nothing more.
#pan got an ask#shylesbiannerd#Thank you for the ask!! <3#I actually once wrote a whole scenario between Shuraiya and my s/i actually-#It takes place after the timeskip and there's clearly some tension between the two of them at first#(S.anji tries his best to stay level headed but he can't help but feel a little jealous even though he isn't dating my s/i yet.)#Shuraiya and my s/i talk privately and he asks them if they still feel the same way like back then.#He even offers them an opportunity to go with him and his sister instead of being with the strawhats#but my s/i just calmly says that they no longer have feelings for him. In fact they've caught feelings for someone else#Shuraiya guesses who that someone is pretty quickly-afjsndjs He handles the rejection well though and the two remain friends#also this is getting so long my apologies-afjanfjsndj#My OP s/i is the most developed so any small thing will make me go off on a ramble

almost back out of following the spiders bc they’re his biggest fear, but upon seeing hermione’s empty seat at dinner, find the courage to go
defend hermione from any and everyone who called her a mudblood
constantly worry about hermione’s workload (especially in 3rd year) and notice that whenever she disappeared
offer to teach hermione his entire family tree so that she could pretend to be pure blood to keep her safe from death eaters
defend harry to everyone (percy, seamus, half the school) when everyone thought he was lying about voldemort’s return
stand up on his broken leg in front of harry and say that “if you want to kill harry, you’ll have to kill us first!” to what they believed to be a raving lunatic mass murderer
gift dobby his newest weasley jumper and the new socks he got given for christmas
stand up against snape when he was bullying hermione (and got a detention as a result)
beg the deatheaters who were torturing hermione to “leave her alone!! take [him], have [him] instead!”
always check up on his friends when he notices something is up, even if it’s in subtle ways
immediately befriend harry on the train in ps and teach him about the wizarding world
write to charlie immediately so he could help hagrid out of trouble (re the dragon, norbert)
encourage neville to stand up to people, and praise him when he actually does it
help harry put on his pajamas after he broke his arm during quidditch
have to be physically restrained from attacking malfoy after he said he wished hermione had died in cos
worry about harry’s preoccupation with the mirror of erised and how it was affecting him
remind hermione to eat her meals and get a good night’s sleep when she’s studying 24/7 for their owl exams
display acute levels of emotional intelligence in the way he interacts with harry and hermione, essentially being the glue that keeps them all together
get splinched almost in half, lose blood and suffer agonising pain but seem more worried about the cattermoles and whether or not they were okay
realise his mistakes & own up to them, acknowledging his role in certain falling outs (especially in deathly hallows)
be genuinely hilarious and fun, and lighten the load in everyone else’s’ lives with the humour he brings to
write to his mother in ps asking her to give harry presents too because he doesn’t think he’ll received any
go to the department of mysteries to help harry without a second a thought
go on the run with harry to hunt for horcruxes without a second thought
run to hermione’s aid when malfoy hits her with a nasty hex outside snape’s classroom and take her to the hospital wing
help hermione with buckbeak’s appeal, spending hours upon hours reading up on the case
extend the first olive branch after fighting with hermione because of scabber’s “death” and apologising, after which she then apologises too
demand to re-try out for the position of keeper on the quidditch team because he wanted to earn it himself with no favouritism or help
choose to stay on the quidditch team despite the bullying from the slytherin team and his nerves about his flying ability
stand up to malfoy at every opportunity, when he was insulting him, but more importantly, insulting his family & his friends
save harry’s life in dh by pulling him out of the lake, and then kill the horcrux
remember the houseelves during the battle of hogwarts and worry about their safety
continue to admire and adore his older twin brothers despite the fact that they were sometimes cruel to him
become almost annoyingly protective of his little sister (ESPECIALLY after the diary situation)
single-handedly out smart and escape five armed and deadly snatchers
try his best to overcome his insecurities and feelings of being overlooked, in order to support the people around him
sacrifice himself without a second thought during the chess game in ps because he knew harry’s survival was more important than his
for y’all to speak on him the way you do. calling him cruel, evil, selfish etc??? open your fucking eyes

Piercer!Geto
Manx Norton: going over the limit
Contents: 18+ mdni, fluff, smut, grinding, making out, blowjob, deepthroating, throat fucking, swallowing, marks the end of their pre-relationship story
“We need to talk,” you say.
Geto looks up from his journal, slow and steady like he knew you would come here and at this time. He sets his pen down. His hair is tied up completely today and there are dark bags under his eyes that you can’t bear to look at, so you don’t. Instead, you settle into the seat, without being asked, and you cross your legs and your arms.
You mean business.
“Good afternoon, pretty. You look gorgeous.”
Sighing, you ignore that fluttering in your stomach. There’s no point in getting carried away by his charm; it’s his instinct to be sweet, otherwise he wouldn’t have as many clients as he does. But you’re aware, faintly and right at the very back of your mind, that his words have a bite to them — they’re complimentary whilst also accusatory.
“I need an explanation, Geto,” you state firmly.
His left eye twitches. It’s not a flicker or a nervous tick, it’s a flinch. You have the power, just like your sister said, when you were throwing her shoes out of the window, and she was offering advice as a means to fight your murderous intent off. It didn’t work.
There’s always something shifting between you, something unstable, and it’s been difficult to manage — you’re new to relationships, so new to venturing outside your comfort zone that you’ve relied so much on him to guide you. But you’ve also had to step up and make decisions for yourself.
Your friends weren’t very helpful; they insisted you quit or bring a new man to the studio to make him jealous, and as tempting as it is to be petty, you know they wouldn’t solve anything. It’ll just make you feel bad and icky.
So, you’ve chosen the high road, providing him the opportunity to share his side, to explain why he let you down once again and why everything between you had been built on a lie.
Nodding, he opens a drawer and takes out a familiar sheet of paper. Then, in a conversational tone, he asks, “What do you see?”
“It’s my CV,” you answer. Truthfully, you have no clue what game he’s playing; there’s something in particular he’s looking for but all you see is the whites of the paper and the lines of ink.
“Look at it from the perspective of an employer looking to fill a hole in their establishment,” is his reply.
You’ve heard that tone often, every day, in fact. It’s the tone he uses on clients when he needs to go over payment plans, or on suppliers when he needs to negotiate a new contract. But he’s never used it on you. Distant and devoid of attachment, it makes you feel uneasy.
Fiddling with a loose thread on your sweater, you furrow your brows as you read over the paper. Geto is leaning back on the chair, hands folded on his lap, the pinnacle of confidence. That used to be so attractive. Now, you’re just a little peeved off. You were supposed to be the confident one; you came here on your own volition, even prepared a speech you practised with your sister.
You should have known he’d sweep the rug from under you.
Frustrated, you groan and smack the sheet. “Just tell me what I’m supposed to see! I have no time for this.”
Smiling reassuringly, Geto doesn’t bat an eye at your outburst and instead, begins a lecture, “What I saw was a CV lacking in relevant work experience. In fact, you had very little experience. Your most recent job was in high school, when you worked as a librarian’s assistant for a day. The other things on there were debate club and a certificate for being a neighbourhood ‘sweetheart’, and I’m not even sure what that means.”
“Oh.”
To your embarrassment, he laughs. A blush is growing on your face and suddenly you’re very aware of how some strands of hair are sticking to your forehead uncomfortably, how the sweater you’re wearing is a little scratchy and that maybe, just maybe, you’ve overreacted terribly.
Maybe you should have confronted him sooner. Perhaps just as soon as you overheard him tell Miguel that your sister owes him a favour for hiring you. However, in your defence, you were feeling a little hurt from having been left at the restaurant — you waited for an hour, watching people pass by and give you sympathetic looks as you sent text after text to a man too busy with a client to realise time passed by.
A week has gone by since then, and you haven’t come to work at all, you dodged every text and call from Geto and ignored him when he showed up on campus and had the nerve to get upset that you’re hanging out with a classmate. Your sister tried to defend him, and herself, but you weren’t willing to hear her out. On many occasions, you’ve told her to butt out, to leave you to make mistakes and get hurt, because it’s your prerogative.
She can’t protect you from everything and the more she tries, the harder you all learn that lesson.
“Okay, fine. So, my CV sucks a little,” you huff, “but you should have never hired me under the pretence that I was good enough when the real reason was because my sister asked you. It’s unfair on me. I wanted to earn this job on my own and you two went behind my back to manipulate this whole situation!”
The man sighs and leans forward. You smell his cologne and it’s muddling your mind a little, so you lean back, away from him. He notices. “I understand you’re upset. And I’m sorry to have colluded with your meddling sister. But it really isn’t what you think, pretty girl.”
You hate how patient he sounds, like you’re the crazy one. And maybe you are. You don’t know anymore. In fact, you’re starting to think you know nothing at all.
“Yes, it’s true she asked me to give you a job. But all I promised her was that I’ll give you a chance, like everyone else. And when you came for the interview, I thought a lot of things. One was that you are so different from your sister. Different from the people that tend to come through the door, from me. You’re much brighter, much warmer and lighter than everyone I’ve ever seen.”
There’s something in his eyes, a sincerity that makes you breathless. All the air has left the room and you’re leaning in without even realising it. Everything that he says is entrancing, he’s a pied piper playing a tune that fills your soul with a fire you can’t put out, and he’s leading you closer to him, away from everything you’ve ever known, away from safety and reason.
You’re not afraid.
“I had a look at your CV and thought, there’s no way I would hire you, not even if she begged or blackmailed me — I take great pride in my studio, I turned it from a little backroom space with flickering lights to what it is now. My clients trust me to provide quality service from beginning to end, and I will not let a woman, no matter how beautiful, get in the way of that.”
Geto reaches for your cheek, like he can’t help himself, and you let him. His hands are slightly calloused but otherwise smooth and soft. And that smile, the polite one he always wears, is gone. In its place is something that reflects how you feel, how you’ve both been feeling for a long time now. A frustration against the distance between you, the boundary that’s erected itself between employer and employee, boss and receptionist, and a man who’s seen it all versus a girl who knows so little.
You aren’t meant to be. Everything about this relationship is wrong, it’s inadvisable, foolish, like Hades and Persephone, or Eros and Psyche. It’s a tragic love story doomed from the very beginning, the kind people talk about centuries later with a mix sense of awe and pity. You know all about it, have read so many variations of the same story with the same individuals who think they know everything, who believe they’re different, special and that the Fates will smile fondly on them.
Except neither you nor Suguru are under the impression that you’re different, that this will turn out differently and that the cards you’ve been dealt are from a separate, fresh deck. You both know you’re playing a dangerous game.
Neither of you care.
“But then I talked to you. And you were so witty, so undeterred by my unrelenting questions, and so willing to learn as you go. You had the confidence of someone who’s worked a thousand jobs, who’s met a thousand people that, despite knowing better, I wanted to hire you on the spot.”
Carefully, with your eyes fluttering shut at the tentative touch of your skin, you breathe out, “Suguru, we shouldn’t.”
“I know.”
When your eyes open, you see his gorgeous, tortured eyes fall to your lips and you know what you want.
Your lips meet his.
This kiss is so similar to the one you shared that night, but oh so new. It seems so long ago now, and when you feel his plush lips devour yours it feels like this is new to both of you and it urges you to push in further. His tongue touches yours and you don’t hesitate to intertwine it, to explore all that he’s laying out for you.
Gasping for breath, you pull away with little success before he’s grasping the back of your neck and urging you over the desk, kneeing the papers there and hearing the pens and stapler fall to the floor with a dull clatter, you sit onto the desk and you hear his chair slam against the wall when he stands to press himself closer to you. He kisses you again.
“Things work differently with me,” he says in between pecks to your lips.
Whilst his mouth moves to your jaw, sucking at the skin by your ear, you giggle. “I know. My sister says you like control. Something about Christian Grey.”
Chuckling in your ear before nipping you there, he admits, “I’m not as insane as him. In truth, I don’t really know what I am, but I know it’s more intense than what most men ask for.”
“That’s okay, Suguru. We can work it out together, step by step.”
He kisses your pulse point. You moan. Goosebumps are rising along your arms; your back is arching to press as much of you closer to him. You’re barely capable of creating a single train of thought, you feel so lightheaded you don’t register how your legs are wrapping around his hips.
“My smart girl,” Suguru muses against your skin.
Your legs are wrapped around his hip, pulling him close until you can feel the bulge there push against your core. With a roll of your hips, the zipper of his jeans nudges your bundle of nerves. You gasp. And you seek out that pleasure again with slow, gradual grinds.
Breathlessly, you say, “Suguru…”
He’s scraping his teeth against your pulse point, one hand kneading your thigh and the other holding himself up. Filling your senses, all you can think about is him and how there’s a growing pressure within that’s dying to be released.
“Go on, pretty girl. Take what you need.” Tightening your legs around his hips, you grind harder, frustrated that there are layers between you. Your arch your back, chest rubbing against his. Like he knows what you want, his hand finds your breast, squeezing and groping. “No bra? Are you sure you came here to talk, angel?”
When his thumb brushes over your nipple, you cry out, body tightening as that coil inside snaps. You spasm, grinding hastily to draw out your pleasure. It’s much better than you any could have given yourself and you’re addicted. Hand flying to his hair, you thread it through, brushing out his hair tie until his silky hair cascades down.
He groans.
In a blink of an eye, you’re being pulled and pushed down onto your knees. You grip his thighs, blinking fast as you desperately try to regain your bearings.
“You’re asking for trouble, sweet thing. Can you handle it?” Suguru asks, a challenge glinting in his eyes as he smiles down at you.
You bite your lip, thighs squeezing to subdue the regrowing aching there. With a sudden bravery, your hands make their way up, revelling in the marble like strength in his muscles before they find his zip.
Hesitating, you feel something holding you back, an instinct within awakening. Awkwardly, you question, “May I?”
His smile widens, surprise flickering in his eyes, and then he’s threading his hands through your hair. It’s a rewarding pat, one full of warmth, and it’s empowering.
“Such a good girl. You’re a perfect little angel, aren’t you?” He coos. “Of course you may, my pretty girl. Go on, go at your own pace.”
Nodding, you unzip his jeans, tugging it down with his boxers. And what springs out leaves your mouth watering. It’s huge and intimidating. It’s bad enough that he’s well-endowed, but nothing about him is typical. He’s different to the average man in every way.
Starting with the metal piercing the underside of his dick, emerging through the head.
Seeing the horrified look on your face, he chuckles, the hair soothing your head delving down to pinch your chin. Unperturbed by your reaction, likely expecting it, he explains, “I got it done a year ago, mostly as a dare. It took around nine weeks to heal and yes, it did hurt.”
“B-but I-I can’t,” you stammer and shake your head, adding, “there’s just n-no way.”
Suguru sighs, thumb grazing your cheek. “You don’t need to. I understand this is too much too soon, but I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit. You’re more than capable.”
You don’t want to disappoint him. And you want to prove you can do whatever you set your mind to. Recalling one of your sister’s drunken admissions, you know the trick is to pinch your thumb, so you don’t gag, to breathe through your nose and take a little at a time.
“Okay, okay. I can do it.”
He gathers your hair and keeps them out of the way. Slowly, you wrap your hand around the base, gasping at the way your fingers barely touch. With no particular method in mind, you explore his length, thumb following a vein from bottom to top. He’s hot in your hand, almost burning, and the tip is shining with what you know to be pre-cum.
It’s pearly white and you can’t wait to know what it tastes like; you lean in and scoop up the drop with your tongue. You both groan.
Salty, you mull the taste over. It isn’t bad. And suddenly, you no longer feel scared. Your tongue fiddles with the bent metal barbell, surprisingly not minding the cold sensation against your hot tongue.
“That’s it,” he groans, grip on your hair tightening.
You widen your jaw, suckling the head, tongue pressing against the slit before it circles around, grinding the barbell back and forth. He groans louder, deep breaths vibrating through the room.
When you push in further, you make the mistake of doing it too fast. You gag, eyes tearing up.
“Slowly, pretty. Slowly. There’s no rush, okay?”
Coughing, you nod weakly, feeling embarrassed. Recovering your breath, you go back in, slower. Eventually, you work up a rhythm, bobbing your head up and down, taking more and more of him but never quite making it further than halfway.
Both hands on your head, he soothes your tears away with his thumb before he advises, “Relax your throat, sweet thing. I’ll guide you, is that alright?”
You tap his thighs twice in a yes.
And then he’s pushing in, more and more until he’s filling your throat, muscles stretching to take him in. Tearing up once more, you mentally swallow that panic rising, the claustrophobia within forcing your nails into his bare thighs.
“You’re doing so well, angel. So good -ngh- for me, hmm?”
Suguru pulls back, the piercing scraping your tongue. And then he pushes back in. Again and again, he builds up to a rhythm, allowing you to get used to it, before he gives you more of him.
This is so overwhelming, the feeling of his piercing bumping at the back of your throat, the ache in your jaw at the stretch, and the salty taste filling your senses. All you can see and feel and hear and taste is Suguru. You can’t get enough of him.
So, when he bottoms out, your lips tickling his skin, your eyes roll to the back of your head just as his do.
“I’m going to cum, pretty. Do you want to pull out?” He asks, pleasure written all over his face, the veins in his arm bulging at his barely constrained urge to fuck your throat freely. Knowing that he’s so in control, so concerned over you, when he could use you how he pleased, could take what he wants makes you so wet.
You blink rapidly.
“No? Are you sure you -ha- can take it? I won’t let you spit it out,” he warns.
Sucking your cheeks in, you suction him closer. His cock head is rubbing the back of your throat, piercing burning, and with a shallow thrust, he’s cumming down your throat.
Hot liquid fills your mouth.
Suguru pulls out and you swallow the thick cream he leaves in your mouth. Your head slumps against his thigh, gasping for breath, heaving like you’ve just ridden a rollercoaster.
Hands tucking themselves under your arms, he lifts you onto his lap just as he sits back on his chair, boxers pulled up before you even realise what position you’re in now.
He rubs your back, muttering encouraging words about how perfect you were, how amazing you did, and how he knew you’d do well for him.
“Open,” he orders, bottom lip pulled down by his thumb. He inspects your mouth and smiles at what he sees. “Good girl.”
And then he’s kissing you, tasting both yours and his essence.
“No wonder Miguel gave me a funny look when I asked how many piercings you have,” you whisper against his lips, a high pulsing through your veins.
Suguru chuckles. “He’s a good guy, did all my piercings. Eased all my concerns every time and I knew I wanted him in my studio.”
You nod.
Your eyes are heavy and you’re hiding your face in the crook of his neck, breathing him in, and pondering the change between you. You’ve accepted that you’re entering an unconventional relationship, that he’s going to introduce you to a world none of your friends had seen a glimpse of, but you won’t be navigating it by yourself.
He’ll lead you just as he had when you first started working here.
Softly, gently and with so much patience, you’ll be free to stumble as often as you need until you know who you are, what you want, and what you need to be.
“Get some sleep, my gorgeous, gorgeous girl.”
Is the last thing you hear before you fall deeper into sleep in his arms.

SEASONS lando norris x fewtrell sister pt.4 - january 7 2025
pt.1 pt.2 pt.3 pt.5 pt.6 pt.7 pt.8 pt.9 pt.10
Wordcount: 1936
The group was scattered across the slopes, each pairing off for a morning of skiing or snowboarding. Lando and Dylan had somehow ended up together after riding the lifts, and were carving through the snow in companionable silence. Lando had to admit Dylan was annoyingly good on a board, making it look effortless as he sped down the powdery trails.
At the bottom of the run, they paused to catch their breath. Dylan stretched his arms above his head, grinning. “Man, this is the life. It’s great you guys have been doing this every year.”
“Yeah, it’s the best,” Lando replied, adjusting his goggles. “You’re lucky you got the invite.”
Dylan laughed. “I guess I passed the test with her, huh?”
“Guess so.”
As they lined up for the next lift, Dylan turned to him. “Speaking of passing tests, she told me she’s thinking of taking that job in Japan. Pretty big deal for her, right?”
Lando froze. “Wait—what job in Japan?”
Dylan looked confused. “She didn’t tell you? It’s with her company. Some kind of high-level exchange position for a few months. She’s not sure yet, but we’ve been talking about it.”
Lando forced himself to stay casual, though his chest tightened. “You’ve been talking about it?”
“Well, yeah,” Dylan said. “If she goes, I’d probably go with her for a bit. There’s great boarding in Japan, so it’d be a win-win. But she’s still deciding.”
Lando didn’t respond immediately, pushing off as the lift began to carry them up the mountain.
“She didn’t mention it to me,” he said finally, not wanting to admit it.
Dylan shrugged, oblivious. “She’s probably waiting until she decides for sure. I mean, she’s got you, Max, her parents—it’s a lot of people to think about.”
“Right,” Lando said shortly, staring out over the snowy landscape. — Later that evening, the group was lounging in the cozy living room of the chalet, the fire crackling softly in the background. Dylan was engrossed in a card game with Max and some of the others, leaving you and Lando alone in the corner, sipping your drinks.
Lando leaned closer to you, lowering his voice. “So... Japan?”
You blinked, caught off guard. “What?”
“Dylan mentioned something about you getting a job offer in Japan,” Lando said, trying to sound nonchalant but failing. “You didn’t think that was worth mentioning to me?”
You sighed, swirling your drink. “It’s not set in stone, Lan. I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it until I decided.”
“Decided what?” His voice had an edge now. “Whether or not to move halfway across the world?”
You frowned, defensive. “It’s an amazing opportunity, Lando. I’m not saying yes or no yet, but it’s something I have to consider.”
His jaw tightened, and he set his glass down a little too hard on the coffee table. “What about the season? You’ve always been there—well, mostly. I can’t imagine doing it without you around.”
Your expression softened slightly, but your tone remained firm. “Lando, I wasn’t at every race last season, and you were fine. Look at your results!” You gave him a small smile, trying to lighten the mood. “You’re a superstar. You don’t need me there holding your hand.”
He stared at you, his lips pressed into a thin line. “It’s not about needing you to hold my hand. It’s...” He trailed off, running a hand through his hair. “You being there—it just makes things... easier. Part of my routine I’m used to”
Your brow furrowed. ‘’Part of your routine?’’
“I just… It’ll be weird without you around. You’ve always been there.’’
The sentiment was sweet, but there was something about the way he said it that made your chest tighten. “You’ll be fine,” you said, forcing a smile now. “You’ve got Magui, and Max, and the whole team. You’re not exactly lacking in support.”
“It’s not the same,” Lando replied, his voice barely above a murmur.
Your hand froze mid-reach for your drink. You set it down instead, the clink of glass against wood sharper than you intended. “What are you saying, Lando?”
He hesitated, like he hadn’t expected you to call him on it. “I’m just saying… you’ve always been part of this. Part of my life, my career. You get it in a way that—” He stopped himself, shaking his head. “I don’t know how to explain it.”
“Try,” you said, your tone sharper than he expected.
His brows furrowed, and for a moment, he looked like the boy you’d known all those years ago—earnest, vulnerable, and completely unaware of how his words could cut. “I guess I just… I need you. You’ve always been there, and I don’t know what it’s going to be like if you’re not.”
“You need me?” you repeated irritated. “Lando, I’m not going to Japan to sit on a beach. This is my career. My chance to do something for me. Do you even realize how that sounds?”
His eyes widened in confusion. “I didn’t mean it like that. I’m just saying—”
“You’re just saying you want me to put my life on hold so I can keep holding your hand through yours and be part of your routine?” you snapped, the words tumbling out before you could stop them.
Lando recoiled slightly. “That’s not what I’m asking.”
“Isn’t it?” you pressed, you voice rising. “You’re asking me to stay, Lando. To stay and make your life easier, while I give up something I’ve worked just as hard for. Do you know how selfish that sounds?”
“I didn’t mean it like that,” he said again, but this time his voice was quieter, tinged with guilt. “I just— It’s not easy, okay? Doing this. And I thought… I thought you understood that.”
You stared at him, your heart pounding in her chest. “I do understand. That’s why I’m still here, isn’t it? That’s why I’ve always been here. But you don’t get to ask this of me, Lando.”
His jaw tightened, and for a moment, you thought he might argue. But instead, he nodded, the weight of her words sinking in. “You’re right,” he said finally. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think.”
The tension in her shoulders eased slightly, but the sting of his words lingered. “I know you didn’t,” you said softly.
— Mexico, 29 november 2023
The shrill sound of tires screeching and the thud of impact echoed through the paddock speakers. Your breath caught in your throat as the screen showed Lando’s car slamming into the barriers, a plume of debris scattering across the track.
“Red flag. That’s Norris in the wall,” the commentator announced, their tone serious but calm.
You were already on your feet in the McLaren garage, staring at the screen with wide eyes. The replay looped, showing his car losing grip on the exit of a corner before careening into the barriers.
“Is he okay?” you blurted, your voice sharp with worry.
One of the engineers turned to reassure you. “We’ve got radio communication. He’s fine, just frustrated.”
The knot in your stomach didn’t ease until you heard his voice crackle through the team radio, muttering, “I’m okay, I’m okay. Sorry, guys.”
You exhaled, hands trembling slightly as you sat back down. He might be physically fine, but you knew how much this would rattle him mentally.
The energy in the hospitality area was buzzing with activity, mechanics and engineers rushing around to prepare for tomorrow. You made your way over to Lando, who was perched on a counter, still in his race suit, a bag of ice pressed against his shoulder. His helmet sat beside him, a little scuffed from the impact.
“You alright?” you asked, leaning against the counter beside him.
He shrugged, wincing slightly as the motion aggravated his shoulder. “Yeah, I’m fine. Car’s a mess, though.”
You shot him a look. “The car can be fixed. I’m asking about you.”
Lando glanced at you, his expression guarded but softening under your gaze. “I’ve had worse.” Then, with a self-deprecating chuckle: “Though I can’t say the engineers are thrilled with me right now.”
“They’ll get over it,” you said firmly. “They know you’re pushing to the limit—that’s what you’re supposed to do.”
“Yeah, well, limits don’t win races if you’re sitting in the wall during quali.” He leaned back against the counter, his jaw tight.
You didn’t let the tension linger. “Oh, c’mon, Lan. You’ve come back from worse. Remember last season? You started at the back of the grid and still finished in the points.”
A faint smirk tugged at his lips. “That was different. I didn’t stuff it in the barriers first.”
You reached over, grabbing a nearby energy drink can and tapping it lightly against his knee. “Then tomorrow’s your chance to remind everyone what you’re made of. You’ve got the pace, and we both know you love a challenge. Besides,” you added, grinning, “you’ll make the highlight reel if you pull it off.”
That earned a real laugh from him, and he tilted his head toward you. “You think I’ll pull it off?”
“I know you will,” you said, your tone unwavering.
Lando sat there for a beat, then hopped off the counter, dropping the ice pack onto the surface. “Alright, then I guess we will see.” — The garage was absolute chaos. Team members shouted and high-fived, celebrating an incredible recovery drive. Lando had fought his way through the field with surgical precision, finishing in a stunning P5. The relief and joy in the room were palpable.
Lando barged into the garage, his race suit unzipped to his waist, hair a wild mess from pulling off his helmet. He was grinning ear to ear, waving a bottle of champagne in the air.
“P5, baby!” he shouted, and the room erupted in cheers again.
You were standing with Max and a few others when he spotted you. “Oi, don’t act like you’re not impressed,” he called, pointing at you with the neck of the champagne bottle.
You crossed your arms, pretending to look unimpressed. “P5? Meh, could’ve been P4 if you’d overtaken Gasly one lap earlier.”
Lando strode over, uncorking the bottle with a loud pop and spraying it wildly, catching you and a few nearby engineers in the crossfire. You shrieked, laughing as the cold champagne hit your face and jacket.
“Alright, alright!” you yelled, holding up your hands. “You win, Norris! P5 is pretty damn good!”
“Damn right it is,” he said, grinning as he took a swig straight from the bottle, still dripping champagne. “You doubted me for a second, didn’t you?”
“Never,” you replied, swiping the bottle from his hand and taking a sip yourself.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “That’s mine.”
“Not anymore,” you quipped, handing it back to him with a smirk.
The atmosphere was electric, the team chanting and laughing around you both. It wasn’t long before the post-race interviews started pulling people away, but Lando lingered for a moment.
“Hey,” he said, leaning in so you could hear him over the noise. “Thanks for, you know, earlier. Couldn’t have done it without your support.”
You glanced at him, surprised at the sudden sincerity in his voice. “What are you thanking me for? You’re the one who clawed your way back.”
He gave a small shrug, “Yeah, but you’re always there. Even when I’m a proper idiot.”
You rolled your eyes, though your smile betrayed you. “You’re always a proper idiot.”
He laughed, holding up the champagne bottle. “Guess it works for me.”
“I guess it does.”

okay so the "fake out lujanne-lissa" scene/plot is egregious for a lot of reasons, but actually, my BIGGEST complaint with this one isn't even the hypocrisy, but rather what a MISSED OPPORTUNITY it was for a deeper, more complex exploration of the SIBLING dynamic between claudia and soren.
when terry says "i think there's one person who can put those pieces back together," and soren asks, "what are you getting at?" i was absolutely flabbergasted when he followed it up with "your mom," because i was completely, 100% expecting him to say soren.
terry's whole argument here is that everything claudia does, she does out of love for her family. why would he think of lissa OVER soren - lissa, who, as terry seems to know by now, hurt claudia so badly when she left, and who claudia hasn't seen in fifteen years? who claudia has barely even spoken of outside of talking to ezran about how hard it was for her being asked to choose between her parents? she talks to viren multiple times about doing things for "our family," but lissa ostensibly hasn't been a part of that family since claudia was very young.
the show even makes a point of drawing a parallel between soren and lissa in season three, when soren chooses to leave viren's side after his takeover of lux aurea, and claudia pleads with him "don't ask me to choose, soren - not again." and then refuses to say goodbye to him, because she can't bear accepting that her brother is leaving her. if the writers really wanted to go with the angle of "her love for her family is the only thing that can stop her" why not use soren instead - whom claudia clearly hasn't resolved her issues with, who's a much fresher example in her mind of being abandoned or left behind?? (AND with all the focus put on terry making them PROMISE not to hurt her, it feels like it was the perfect setup for soren to actually TALK to her, and for the story to explore their relationship in more complexity.)
i just feel like it would have made so much more sense for soren to be the one to try and stop claudia by genuinely connecting with her - a real attempt at reconciling with her and offering her a true path back, instead of the weird manipulative choice to try and trick her with an illusion of her mother (who, again, broke claudia's heart last time she saw her and has caused her emotional trauma that's stuck with her for years of her life. like????? UGH.) vs soren, who claudia clearly still loves - in the final scene with her, she still labels herself as his sister that he should love and be unwilling to kill, and refuses to kill him because she's "still herself" - inherently saying that he's still her brother, to her, and she doesn't want him dead, even when she already considers herself as being abandoned by him.
soren is, by now, the only living & present family that claudia has left. it just feels so much more intuitive and believable that he would be the only one who can connect with claudia where she is now and offer her a way back home.
#yes i am incredibly biased towards tragic siblings trope. im still fucking right about this#GIVE ME CLAUDIA ACCUSING HER BROTHER OF ABANDONING HER. Hide And Seek
Hi guys!
Another request that you can find it here, even if I'm only going to write it in one part.
Resume : Two times you and your secret girlfriend almost got caught by your big sister and the time she caught you.
Warning : Fluff, swearing (because it's Lucy), a little bit of angst because I like it with a happy ending. !BronzeReader
You met Alessia thanks to your big sister Lucy Bronze. These two playing together in the national team, it was not difficult to meet her. You meet her several times even, whether at parties for their different victories or when you go to see Lucy at her training sessions. You always thought Alessia was beautiful, but when you heard her talk about her boyfriend with Ella a few years ago, you got used to the idea that it was better to give up.
The months and years passed and Alessia was single for a little while when you had the opportunity to have a moment of exchange just the two of them, during their final win at the Euro. After having celebrated this with the families, some of them decided to extend the party in a nightclub and you accepted when Lucy offered to accompany them. Jorge being a father, he had to resolve to let his two sisters go without him, but you promised him to stay wise and not drink too much.
Lucy, on the other hand, just sneered at him. She is dancing in the middle of the track with several of her teammates, including Leah Williamson on fire. For your part, you watch the scene with a smile, proud of what your sister and her team has achieved.
"What are you doing alone?"
You raise your head to realize that the person who asked you this question is nobody but Alessia. You joked that it could have passed for a lame line from a lame flirt and when she blushed while sitting next to you you found yourself falling for her even harder.
You discussed the rest of the night, interrupted only when the nightclub owners kicked you out. When you arrived home, you could see that Alessia had started following you on Instagram and your relationship started like that. You made the decision not to tell anyone, starting with Lucy. There are some implicit rules in family life, starting with not getting in a relationship with your sister’s friends.
The first time you almost got caught was during the winter football break.
"Raise and shine baby, your sister's here!"
You are awakened with a start, the voice of your sister causing you a start of panic attack. This is not the first time she comes at yours when she's home from Barcelona, usually to bring you breakfast and spend time with you. And you like it, as much as you love your big sister.
However, this morning, there is Alessia with you in your bed. An Alessia not fully dressed, hair in bulk and eyes still asleep. This doesn't prevent her from throwing you a look of pure panic. Lucy doesn’t know that you two share more than a purely friendly relationship, you know that she wouldn’t appreciate you dating one of her friends. Just as it would be perfectly reciprocal if things were reversed.
"Y/N are you still sleeping? It’s past 10am"
You have always been a big sleeper, you are constantly quarrelled with this in your family. You quickly get up from your bed and beckons Alessia to do the same.
"I’m coming! Give me time to get dressed and I’ll come" you answer.
She grumbles and settles on your sofa, turning on the television. You appreciate even more the fact that she feels at home when she is with you. This will allow you to whisper with Alessia to get you out of this bad step.
"You have to hide" you mumble to Alessia while putting on a t-shirt.
"Where? I won’t hide in your closet, I warn you"
"Get dressed to start"
Alessia’s blue eyes cast a reproachful glance at you, certainly linked to the tone of the voice you just used. You apologize with a look and watch her get dressed.
"Go find your sister instead of looking at me, creep"
You roll your eyes and gently open the door to find Lucy actually installed in the living room. When she sees you appear she jumps on her legs and hurries to join the kitchen. Maybe things aren’t going to be as complicated as you thought.
All you have to do is keep her from entering your bedroom.
Lucy sitting at your kitchen table, you exchange the latest news of your lives while you put what she brought on plates. You listen to her talk about her life in Barcelona and you smirks when you hear her talk about this famous girl who seems to take more and more in her life, maybe joining Barcelona this summer.
"What?" she asks you when she sees you smiling.
"Nothing" you answer before laughing and biting into your toast.
You change the subject of conversation, going back to your nephew’s next birthday hoping that she does not delay too much. You can’t help but think of Alessia still waiting to get out of your bedroom.
"By the way, I need my camera back. You have it, you know where you put it?"
Busy doing the dishes after your breakfast and a few games of Mario Kart, you start answering without really thinking.
"It's on the dresser in my bedr…"
Holly shit.
By the time you turn around, Lucy’s already headed to your room and opened the door. You run after her, ready to face Alessia lying on your bed, but she’s not visible anywhere.
"Thank you" Lucy smiles, not noticing your lost look. "I have to go, but I’ll see you later, ok?"
"Sure. Can't wait to meet Ona though" you mumble, still looking around.
She gives you a light punch behind the back of the skull, puts a kiss on your cheek and leaves as fast as she comes. The door of your apartment closes and you turn towards your room.
"Lessi?"
The door of your closet opens slowly to reveal your girlfriend, her eyes cold and her face closed. She is really not happy at all.
"I am so sorry"
She grumbles for any answer but accepts the hand you hold out to help her get out of the furniture. You tell her again your apology, applying yourself to lay as many kisses on her face as possible, until she finally offers you one of her smiles that you love so much.
"It’s an original way to get out of the closet, though" you joke softly in the pit of her ear.
She frowns and punches you in the back of the head, right where Lucy did it to you earlier.
"Ouch? I didn’t know you were in the category of abusive girlfriends?"
She rolls her eyes and leaves the room, making you smile when seeing her rush to the toilet. You go back to the living room and prepare a plate with what’s left of the breakfast, determined to make amends. And, sorry Lucy, but you can’t help but tell her about your sister’s confidence earlier.
********
The second time you almost got caught was during the World Cup. You made the trip for the entire tournament, officially to support your beloved big sister. Unofficially to spend time with your girlfriend, which you simply can’t live without. You spent two separate weeks for her training camp and that was enough for you. By an incredible chance you found a job in London to be able to follow Alessia without it attracting anyone’s attention. Maybe because you were in the confidence of Alessia leaving Manchester for Arsenal from the beginning and you were able to do things smoothly.
After resigning, you have almost two months free before returning to work and you decided to fly to Australia.
Alessia sharing her room with Ella, you have at first to show imagination to be able to see you. Even if you are in the stands every time, it’s obviously out of the question that she comes to kiss you as if nothing had happened. Alessia finally confessed that she was seeing someone, not to mention your identity. Ella tried to find out more, but the pretty blonde didn’t want to embarrass her best friend and make her life complicated. If Lucy finds out about you and knows that Ella also knows, Tooney might get scolded too.
Except it only lasted four days before Ella understood. After helping Alessia escape from the surveillance of their teammates for a secret date on a beach, Ella didn’t think much of anything anymore. Eager to change her mind, she proposed a little nocturne ride to everyone and this was accepted by Lucy, always willing to discover the voisinage, Mary and Maya.
It was only when they turned around a street corner that they had never explored to come across a small beach that an alarm sounded in her head. She easily recognized the silhouette of her best friend, sitting on the wall at the beginning of the beach. However, she didn’t have time to try to recognize who was with Alessia that Lucy’s incredulous voice resonated beside her.
"Y/N?"
When you heard the voice of your older sister, you jumped and hurried to get up. And Ella understood.
"What are you doing here?"
"We asked her to come see you, we made this with Alessia" the surprise passed, Ella quickly made her brain work. " You seemed a little down because of your knee, so we thought seeing someone from your family would make you happy. Lessi had to meet her here and I had to take you there."
Alessia’s panicked look quickly turned into a look of relief when Lucy seemed to gladly accept the answer. Especially since it is true that her knee worries her and that the idea that this World Cup is the last one works a lot.
So happily passing her arm around your shoulders, she takes you a little further away from the others. Luckily, Maya and Mary didn’t seem to doubt Ella’s story. But seeing her best friend’s eyes, Alessia quickly understood that she was going to have some explanations to give her.
In any case, fortunately your kissing session had ended a few minutes earlier.
Lucy is back from Barcelona for the training camps for the national team, like many of her teammates. With the latter taking place in London, Alessia doesn’t have a lot of travelling to join it on the first day. That is why, the evening before, you went out to see a concert. And it might be possible that you will extend the evening by going for a drink somewhere. Alessia is not a nobody, but you are always careful not to be too intimate towards each other when you know you can be seen.
Except that last night, alcohol and the prospect of not being able to see you for a few days may have made you lose your mind.
And that’s why pictures of you and Alessia kissing each other appeared on the net. These kisses against a red brick wall in a London street certainly brought a very pleasant moment when you returned to Alessia’s apartment, but if the blonde could disappear under the ground now, she would. Her teammates obviously came across the photos and teased her with it since this morning.
By a miracle, it’s almost impossible to recognize you. They only see your hair and your back while Alessia’s face is perfectly recognizable. Ella tried to divert the attention of their friends by all possibilities, discovering herself a fan-girl side for your couple, but in vain.
Even worse, attracted by the giggles of the girls and the pink cheeks of Alessia, Lucy comes to mingle in the conversation.
"What did I miss?" Lucy asks while sitting next to Mary.
"Alessia has a secret girlfriend" sings Lotte maliciously.
A little surprise laugh escapes from your big sister’s lips, which Alessia avoids looking in the eyes since she realized that she and you have exactly the same color.
"I thought you were straight?" asks Lucy, curiously looking at your blonde.
"I’ve never stuck labels on myself" Alessia mumbles as she looks at her hands.
"You’ve only been with boys so far" Esme gently says.
"What do you want me to say? She changed my mind."
That was true. Without making a fuss, Alessia had always imagined herself as heterosexual before getting closer to you and realizing that it was not friendly hugs that she wanted to give you.
"Let me see the pictures"
Lucy reaches out to Maya's phone, who willingly reaches out. Alessia winces when she sees Lucy reading the article and enlarging the photos. You also saw the article, obviously. You tried to reassure Alessia by telling her that no one could recognize you and that it would eventually settle down.
"Can’t you leave her alone?" intervenes Ella, anxious to protect her best friend.
But Lucy doesn’t listen, distracted by the photos. Her eyebrows gently frown.
"Wait, I know this tattoo"
Oh no. Becoming white in a second, Alessia stands from her chair the most discreetly possible but barely has time to take a few steps before a roar sounds behind her.
"Alessia Mia Teresa Fucking Russo!"
Rushing to hide behind Mary who innocently enters the cafeteria, Alessia barely has time to hide behind the goalie’s shoulder as Lucy is already with her.
"Mary please, she’s going to kill me"
"Lucia what the fuck?" asks Mary, moving Lucy away from Alessia, putting her hand on her chest.
"It’s my sister! It’s my fucking little sister she’s kissing in these fucking pictures!"
********
You didn't hear about Alessia that night.
You tried to call her at the same time as usual, but not seeing her answer you simply told yourself that she was busy and that she was going to call you back. When you saw that the hours were passing and that it was not the case, the worry that she was injured became too strong. So, despite your desire not to disturb people, you tried to contact Ella. She did not answer you either, increasing your anxiety.
With no one else aware, it was impossible to contact anyone else to ask about Alessia. So you spent a sleepless night looking at your phone screen hoping to get a message, but nothing. The day has passed and you have never been so ineffective in your life at work. Your fear turned into anxiety throughout the day, unable to distract your mind from Alessia.
It wasn’t until the evening that you received notification of a message from Alessia. Except the message you received was far from what you expected.
From LessiBaby 🧸❤️🔥 We are over
From You What are you talking about baby? Are you alright? I was really worried, what happened?
From LessiBaby 🧸❤️🔥 You and me. We are over... I'm sorry Don't contact me again pls
And after that, Alessia had to block you since you couldn’t call her and none of your messages could be delivered to her.
A breakup with the woman you’re in love with is hard. But it’s even harder not to understand why. Everything was perfectly fine when she left for camp, she even took care to leave you several of her hoodies so that you can sleep with them in her absence, promising to see you as soon as she had the opportunity.
Then, finally, the infernal spiral of your thoughts made you understand that she had surely realized that she deserved better than you. A sportsman or woman like her, who surely does something more interesting than a simple job in an international company. Someone she could expose herself with.
On the third day of your breakup, you were unable to get out of bed to go to work. Feeling that something was wrong with you, your closest friend in London, who is also one of your colleagues arrived at your house. She didn’t ask a question when she saw you in your pajamas at 2:00 in the afternoon, eating chocolate ice cream in front of the television.
Instead, she made you pack a bag and took you home for the weekend. The first day you refused to leave the guest room, only answering your mother’s messages so she wouldn’t think you were murdered in a dark alley in London. The second day you confided in Ashley about the whole story. She listened to you, didn’t judge you for a second and tried to give you some advice.
When Lucy wrote to you asking you to go for a drink, you refused on the pretext of having something planned with Ashley. You know that your sister would quickly understand that something is happening in your private life if she sees you and you don’t want to talk to her about it.
The following Monday, you and your sadness returned to work under Ashley’s encouragement. Her boyfriend must have thought you were a psychopath but didn’t comment on your physical or mental state either. It allowed you to confirm to Ashley that he was a good man.
In the evening, you returned home, making a new night routine. Often just taking time to shower, you went back to bed quickly. The only news you have of Alessia is on England’s national team social media. Despite the pain of these images, you can’t help but look at them. She’s still beautiful. Tired maybe, but anyone is tired during these camps. You know they’re intense.
On Friday night, Ashley practically came to take you out of your bed to get out. She forced you to shower and put on something other than an Alessia sweater. However, you refused to wear make-up and fix your hair other than in a messy bun. You put on a ripped jeans and a white top with your black leather jacket and that’s enough.
You don’t know the bar Ashley is taking you to, which is not surprising since you’re still new to London. What you do know is that the hubbub that sounds as soon as you enter it will soon cause you a headache.
"Can you at least fake that you're not dying from the inside?" Ashley laughs softly after you have your drinks.
"Sorry" you mumble, well aware of your unpleasant company.
"I asked John to come, is it ok?" Ashley asks, mentioning her boyfriend.
You mumble that it's fine, before the door opens again leaving a group of about ten people to enter. You automatically glance at it before freezing to see who it is. There is at least half of the Lioness contingent. Mary, Milie, Leah, Keira, Lucy, Lauren, Beth, Georgia and Alessia and Ella closing the march. You shift on your seat, staring at Ashley.
"Did you do it on purpose?"
"No! Of course not!"
You don’t have to study her face long to understand that it’s not Ashley who did it, but fate. Finishing your Daiquiri in one go, you turn towards your friend.
"You have five seconds to figure out a way to get me out of here without me getting noticed"
You didn’t respond to Lucy’s last messages with more than one sentence, also refusing a proposal to go for a coffee before one of her workouts. As for Alessia, you don’t have the courage to look at her now. You look at your fingers, fearing to turn into a salt statue or worse, to see her happy and smiling while you cried last night while not managing to open your new jar of jam.
Luckily, the small group chose a table at the end of the room, allowing you to think about an action plan.
"Your girlfriend doesn’t look very happy" says Ashley, who can’t resist observing them.
"Ex" you whisper, still looking at your fingers.
Ashley stays silent and you jump when someone falls between you on a chair. But it’s just John, leaning over to put a delicate kiss on Ashley’s lips. You greet him with a vague smile, happy to see that despite your breakup you manage to bear the happiness of others.
Ashley asked you if she could tell your story to John and you agreed, certain that the poor man didn’t care much about your problems. But you were wrong and he always shows you kindness and empathy.
A grimace appears on his face when your friend informs him of the situation and you shrug your shoulders in return. It’s at this precise moment that you realize how much you miss your big brother and that you feel guilty for not having written to him these last days. John is friendly but he’s nothing like Jorge.
You end up looking at the players' table, automatically looking for Alessia’s figure. Sitting next to Ella, of course. If the latter seems in full conversation with Milie, Alessia is leaning against the back of the bench, staring at the table in front of her. It makes you frown, if she is at the initiative of your breakup, why does she seem sad too?
Your eyes slide down to your sister at the end of the table. Her head leaning on her hand, she also talks with someone you can’t see, her eyes going around the room to discover the decoration.
"I have to get out of here," you whisper as you turn to your couple of friends.
"I’ll help you."
John throws you his cap that you put on your head to hide yourself. You hope to sneak out discreetly. Getting up, you let yourself be carried away by John who passed a protective arm around your shoulders. You sigh of relief when he opens the door of the pub, before finding you nailed to the ground, facing Mary Earps.
"Y/N? Who’s that?"
Her eyes get cold when they land on John and you quickly understand why. He also hurries to remove his arm from your shoulders, but you force the way out of the establishment. There’s no way you’re gonna get you spotted now.
"John, a friend. Don’t look at me like that, his girlfriend is inside and he was just helping me out."
After making sure he can leave you, John returns inside, probably impressed by Mary's icy look. You can understand.
"I’ll let your sister know you’re here" Mary informs you by grabbing her phone.
"No, no! please…"
Mary again raises her gaze on you and it’s your turn to find yourself in front of her icy gaze.
"Oh yes. Enough of your stories, I’m tired of Alessia looking at Lucy like she killed your whole family. And to see Lucy look at Alessia like she killed your whole family. And you look like someone who lost their whole family. If I don’t do it for you, I do it for my own sanity."
"I don’t understand what you’re saying "
Mary doesn’t answer, typing on her phone. You don’t have much time to think about it since Lucy comes out of the establishment, a questioning look on her face.
"Y/N?" makes Lucy gently before offering you a brief embrace.
You let her, determined to understand what’s going on before you get angry. You still missed her. A long silence passes, finally interrupted by Mary’s exasperated sigh.
"You’re not even trying. Okay. Lucy, explain why you made Alessia break up with your sister, please?"
"What?!" you jump.
You knew there was very little chance that Lucy would react well to this announcement, but between that and pushing Alessia to break up with you, there’s a world.
"I didn’t force her to break up, I told her what I thought of your relationship and the fact that you preferred to hide it from me rather than tell me."
"You told her that she was a traitor you couldn’t trust and that she should be ashamed of betraying her friends like she did."
Mary’s objection makes Lucy wince and makes you frown. You can imagine how much these words must have affected Alessia, it’s hardly anything that was thrown in her face when she left Manchester for Arsenal.
"What have you done Lucia?"
Even if she rolls her eyes when you say her full name, she still looks embarrassed. And you, kinda angry.
"I messed up. I tried to talk to you this week about it, but you were always busy."
"I wasn't busy, I was fucking heartbroken Luce! You didn't have the right to get into my relationship!"
You're cold, but you can't understand how or why Lucy would make a move like this. You never said anything about her relationships, unless it was friendly teasing.
Lucy opens her mouth again to speak, but it is only Alessia’s sweet voice that you hear above all this hubbub.
"Y/N?"
"Hi" you sigh by sliding your hands in the pockets of your jeans.
You remember bitterly that a few minutes ago, you had hoped to leave here quietly. A new silence takes place during which each of you is observed the others without knowing what to say. Mary finally reacts, taking Lucy by the arm to get her inside again, telling her that she will have time to reconcile with her little sister later.
So you find yourself alone in front of Alessia and you don’t know what to say to her. Worse, you realize you’re angry at her too.
"I’m sorry" said Alessia after a few seconds.
"I don't understand"
You can’t face her. While the only thing you wanted less than two hours ago was to be able to find her arms back, you now just want to go home and that the whole world leaves you alone.
"What don’t you understand?" asks Alessia gently.
"Why didn’t you fight for me? For us? Lucy tells you to end our relationship and you did, without even giving me any explanations or reasons. Do you have any idea what happened in my head?"
Alessia swallows, apparently not expecting you to talk to her that way. Aside from the little arguments, you never got confused. You don’t even know if she saw you once angry. But now you feel it boiling in your veins. And, as every time you are angry, you feel tears in your eyes and it annoys you even more.
"I told myself that you had found someone else or that you had realized that you wanted someone with whom things would be easier. Maybe someone more athletic, smarter or even more available than me. That you might have realized you deserved better than me, after all who cares about a simple accountant, huh?"
You see she wants to answer you, but now that you’re on the move, you can’t stop. You even take a step in her direction, pointing an accusing finger in her direction.
"I was in love with you, I would have done anything for you, Alessia. And it destroys me to see that it is not reciprocal."
Like you, Alessia has tears in her eyes. She looks like she’s blown away by everything you just threw in her face, like a boxer who just got hit in the face. That’s when Ashley comes out of the bar, freezing as she sees the scene. What a great timing.
"Can you please take me home?"
"Of course."
You need 20 minutes to get home. Meanwhile, as if to support the bad atmosphere, the clouds began to pour torrents of water on London. You had to promise Ashley several times that you were gonna be okay before she let you join your apartment alone. Despite the small hundred meters that you have to do to reach your building, you are quickly soaked.
Once at home, you hurry to get rid of your wet clothes to take a hot shower and put on a jogging bottom and a t-shirt much too big for you. This one also belongs to Alessia. Your phone stayed on your nightstand and you decided to leave it there. You just want the world to leave you alone. Armed with a hot chocolate and a plaid, you sit in front of the television and launch the first season of Friend’s.
An hour later, you jump when you hear someone knocking on your door. Fortunately, your cup has been empty ever since. You hesitate a few seconds to answer, before getting up, sighing.
You don’t know what you expected, but certainly not that. Alessia, wearing the same clothes you left her in front of the bar, soaked from head to toe. Her hair is stuck to her face and her clothes are glued to her body. She’s dripping on your doormat, but that doesn’t seem to be the most important thing to her right now.
You might have found her sexy if you hadn’t been seriously worried about her health.
"Jesus Alessia" you whisper before you let her in.
The young woman tries to speak but she shudders so much that you cannot understand anything with her teeth colliding.
"No wait, hush, shut up" you mumble
Without giving her the choice or really explaining what you are doing, you drag her into your bathroom. There, you push her under the shower all dressed and turn on the hot water, determined to warm her up as quickly as possible. You’re genuinely afraid she’ll end up hypothermic.
"Did you walk from the bar to here?" You ask her after a few minutes.
Alessia crossed her arms on her chest, probably trying to warm up faster. She still trembles but nevertheless manages to make an understandable sentence.
"I had to know."
"Know what?"
Still under hot water, Alessia takes a step in your direction to be closer to you. Unlike earlier, your voice is calm and concerned. And no matter how much you think, you don’t see what she wants to know.
"Earlier. You said I was in love with you. You used the past"
"Alessia…"
It was obviously not voluntary and finding you immersed in the blue of her eyes takes you back to every single good memory you had with her. You don't want to lie to her, you have always entrusted everything of your thoughts to her because you have full confidence in her.
"Please Y/N. I need to know. Do you still love me?"
Her voice trembles again, but it’s not because of the cold this time. You feel your heart break a little when you see that her eyes are full of tears and that some have even started to roll on her cheeks, mixing with the hot water.
"Of course I do" you end up whispering.
In less than two seconds, Alessia grabbed you by the shirt and you’re stuck between her and the wall. Two more seconds later and her lips are on yours. They’re cold, indicating that her body heat is still not at the right temperature. But that’s the least of your concerns. Her hands are all over you and you try to respond to the force of the kiss that Alessia offers you. This mixture of passion and despair is rather surprising and you must quickly catch your breath.
When Alessia looks back at you, her look makes you wonder if she will tear your clothes off or start crying again. She ends up opting for a third option, pressing her forehead on yours.
"I never wanted anyone but you. I’m sorry that such ideas came to mind. I’ve shown you very badly, but it’s always been you. I don’t want anyone but you."
The fervor of Alessia’s words cuts your breath. Her gaze in yours confirms that she truly thinks every word she just said. You smile at her, lightly stroking her cheek.
"Let's get out from here, right?"
You hurry out in the shower to wrap yourself in a towel, reluctantly removing the t-shirt you like so much. After taking out a towel for Alessia, you quickly get dressed, this time putting on a hoodie and an old shorts with the Manchester United logo. You also get something out for Alessia and when she’s dressed you slip under your duvet.
Alessia once again loses not a second before drawing you against her and you let her do it with pleasure, delighted to find your favorite smell.
"We need to talk to Lucy" Alessia whispers after a few seconds.
You let go of a little grunt for a simple answer. Now that you are reconciled with Alessia, you are not even angry with your big sister.
"Tomorrow" you answer before putting yourself on your stomach to be able to better observe it.
"Are you still mad at me?"
"No" you answer, smiling as you see the relief on Alessia’s face. "Lucy told me she tried to contact me to discuss this with me. You know what it was for?"
"I think a discussion with Mary and Leah made her realize she didn’t choose the right way. They must have seen that those few days were complicated for me. I think she wanted to see how you lived it."
You just hum, resting your head on her shoulder. But Alessia won’t let you do it since she gently raises your face in her direction. Keeping her hand under your chin, she gently strokes your cheek with her thumb while talking to you.
"I need to know what you’re thinking. You used to tell me everything without filter and now I feel like you’re holding everything"
"I’m just still a little confused" you explain with a frown, trying to formulate as best as possible what is happening in your head. "I didn’t know Lucy was the reason you broke up with me. It was so sudden… First you didn’t answer my messages, Ella neither and then you wrote to me to tell me it was over and to stop writing to you. And then I realized you blocked me on all your social media. The only way I could make sure you were still alive was by the brief seconds you appeared on the Lionesses account."
"I am so sorry"
Alessia’s voice is strangled by emotion and you know perfectly well that she never tried to hurt you.
"I thought I’d lose you forever and now you’re back. I’m gonna need a few days to realise that I'm not dreaming."
"Would you like me to leave you alone tonight?"
"No! Never go again" you exclaim, supporting your words by wrapping your body around it.
Alessia’s laughter makes you smile and you close your eyes to well being when you feel that she puts a kiss on your hair.
It’s only at this moment that you realize that the screen of your phone turns on. Stretching your arm, you grab it and frown as you notice that you have ten missed calls from Lucy, as many Ella and other numbers that you don’t even know.
"What the fuck?" you mumble.
"What’s happening?"
You need two seconds to focus on what’s going on, Alessia’s lips being busy stroking your neck. You turn the screen in her direction to show her the notifications, making her frown too. You don’t have time to think any longer as your phone rings again, indicating Ella’s phone number.
Sitting on Alessia’s hips, you pick up, still so lost.
"Hello?"
"Y/N! Thank God! Alessia disappeared, she left without taking her bag or even her phone"
"Oh" you mumble, pinching your nose. "Don’t worry, she’s at my house. She’s fine."
"What?! We’ve been looking for her for hours, give her your phone!"
With a little smile of apology, you hand your phone to Alessia. She grabs it with a constrained air and you put a kiss on her cheek while seeing her startle when her best friend yells at her. You can understand every word Ella utters and carefully watch Alessia’s face go from pout to frown following the words spoken by the Manchester United player.
You take advantage of your position to observe Alessia’s face, in search of change. You can’t find anything, except that she looks tired. When your fingers begin to slide gently across her face, Alessia’s eyes look for yours. You simply give her a tender smile, to which she responds almost timidly, while continuing your caresses. It takes you a few seconds to realize that Ella’s voice has finished resonating at the end of the phone, taken in your moment.
"I’m sorry Ella, I didn’t think you’d panic like this"
You still hear some furious exclamations on the other end of the phone, making you smile softly.
"I’m sorry. Can you cover me with the coaches for tonight? I’ll explain everything, I promise."
Alessia smiles as she hears Ella groan something in return, making you laugh silently.
"Thank you. Love you"
After that, she gives you your phone back and you quickly answer Lucy that you will talk tomorrow.
"She’s not very happy," Alessia comments, sliding her hands on your knees.
"Didn’t you tell them you were leaving?"
"No. And now can I have a kiss please?"
You smile and put your phone on the bedside table, amused to feel Alessia pull you by the sweater. It’s obviously with great pleasure that you oblige, putting your lips on hers.

Do you have any fics you can recommend where like, Derek's family member(s) that died in the fire appear as ghosts and Stiles can see/hear them? Or something along those lines.
Thanks ❤️❤️❤️
I do! 🩷
You Only Live Once…or Twice by WonderWolf | 32.9K | Explicit
Or the one in which Stiles is a necromancer who needs help stopping a rogue alpha and Derek is the solution, but at what cost?
From Ashes by andavs | 13.4K
Stiles really couldn’t say for sure who was more surprised when the formerly very much deceased Laura Hale suddenly appeared behind Gerard Argent, mid-villain monologue, and ripped his head off.

You better be ready,” Lydia says as she cleans dirt out from under her nails with an antiseptic wipe. Stiles can smell the lemon scent even from where he stands a few feet away. She’s probably going to end up covered in blood in a few moments, but she likes to be in control in any way she can, so he doesn’t tease her about this. “It’s time to start.”
“I’m ready,” Stiles says and he’s pretty sure it’s not even a lie. Hopefully.
Dead Things by standinginanicedress | 89.1K | Explicit
Derek blows some more smoke out. He chooses to look at Stiles’ mouth instead of in his eyes, again. “I need you to bring someone back.”
“Back.”
“From the dead.”
“Absolutely not,” Stiles scoffs, shaking his head. “Not for you, not for all the money in the world.”
Derek looks at him, just looks. He is not going to accept no for an answer, and Stiles knows it, but it doesn’t matter, because Stiles will not do that. He cannot do that, not again. “Why not for me in specific?”

Not So Little // JJK Pt.2
Summary: Jungkook who struggles to stay loyal to his bestfriend due to his burning desire for YOU , his friends little sister
Warnings: Jealousy , sex , dirty talk , penetration , raw sex (just fiction guys stay safe)
Pairing: Jungkook x reader
Pt 1- https://www.tumblr.com/solozxo/731648564002979840/not-so-little-jjk
Jungkook felt like an absolute villian knowing he broke the trust with your brother yet he feels even worse knowing he couldn’t give you what you wanted , but he thinks it’s for the best.
Or so he thought…….
- (continuation)
Over the two months you decided to go out more instead of sticking to your old habits , which were staying at home hoping too see Jungkook all the time but things are different now , you can’t bear to face him after the humiliation you endured last time.
So you went out more and met new people , they were alright but none of them really compared to jungkook. But there was this one guy who instantly shown attraction to you , his name was..
“Jaehyun , and you are?”
“Y/N it’s nice to meet you” You smile at the man stood infront of you , parted brown hair with a gorgeous smile , dimples too , broad shoulders and an amazing figure Deffo has a toned body beneath his clothes.
Where are these gorgeous men coming from?
“You’re quite pretty, would you mind giving me your number?” he asks with a smile.
I mean who am i to deny him?
“Yeah sure” you say with a smile , typing your number in his phone.
-One week later-
“Y/N where do you think your going like that” Joshua announces making Jungkook , whos sat nexto him , swiftly move his head to look in your direction.
You were stood there , Beautiful shiny heels , Hair freshly done , skin smooth and supple and your makeup flawless with a small handbag in your hand and your phone in the other.
You looked Mesmerising
Jungkook looked at you as if you were a rare jewel , his mouth dropped at your appearance, not knowing you could get any more beautiful than you already were.
“I’m going on a date”
A date? Jungkook jaw clenched at this information, not wanting another other man to see you like this or to have any romantic connection with you but after all it’s his fault , he made the call to not treat you like a lady , so now someone else has the right to.
“Gross , whatever just don’t be back late” Joshua says rolling his eyes at the sight of his baby sister acting like a grown up… which you are.
“yeah okay , bye josh…bye kook” You say with a small pained smile as you looked directly at jungkook who was as handsome as ever.
His lips look as supple and soft as the last time , and his hair looks so silky too- NO i can’t do this
You turn towards the sudden knock at the door and you open it and there he is , Jaehyun the charming knight in shining armour.
“Hey , you ready?” He says flashing his dimples and beautiful smile offering a kiss to your cheek which makes Jungkook grit his teeth.
“I am” You respond taking his hand and shutting the door behind the both of you.
-
“your gonna let her go out like that!?” Jungkook exclaims almost breathless.
“Yep , i mean as much as i despise the idea she’s old enough i guess” Joshua says whilst still focusing on the game ahead of him.
“okay so what if i liked her , what then?” jungkook says hesitantly.
Joshua freezes , “No , your my friend that’s weird”
What? Is that it Jungkook thinks to himself , realising he threw away something that could’ve been special purely due to joshua’s simple pettiness.
“shit” Jungkook puts the pad down and stands up.
“What dude?” Joshua says slightly taking his attention from the tv.
“nothing just leave it” Jungkook silenty paces on the spot thinking about the missed opportunity he had with you and he hates it.
When did i end up liking her this much? i’m going insane
-
“Thanks for the night jae , you really cheered me up” You say looking at jaehyun , but unfortunately the image of jungkook lingers in your mind , the way he was looking at you , did it mean something?
“No worries , get in safe Y/N i think that guy is waiting for you”
Huh? what does he mean
“What do you mean ‘that guy’ is waiting for me?” you say confused.
“I mean did you not see his face when i kissed your cheek , he looked like he was gonna tear me in half” He says with a slight laugh “i’m guessing there’s some unfinished business?”
“I’m sorry about that…. i don’t know i guess there was a little something months ago but it wasn’t serious , i wasn’t enough for him” You say blankly with a slight pout and shrug.
But your eyes held sadness and Jaehyun recognised that.
“Listen Y/N , i like you and i feel like we really really get on but i absolutely can not be in a triangle , not right now okay? I think you guys need to talk because the energy i was getting off him told me he was jealous , and that’s coming from a guy” He says holding your shoulders and slightly hunching over to get a better view of your eyes.
“I understand jae, thankyou again for tonight i really appreciate it” You say opening your arms and giving him a hug , which is what you really needed in that moment.
“It’s okay , now get inside it’s cold” Jaehyun says with a reassuring smile signalling for you to go inside.
You walk to your door and wave to him before heading inside. When you go inside you notice your brother isn’t home , but Jungkook is.
After closing the door Jungkook looks straight at you , he was sat on the couch , hunched over with his elbows on his knees like he was waiting for you.
“umm is everything oka-“
“Did you have fun” Jungkook says sternly interrupting you.
“Yeah i did” You respond nonchalantly, not displaying any emotion for him to detect.
“Sit we need to talk” He says , only this time his eyes appear soft , but you don’t like being told what to do , so you decide to be petty.
“I’m not a dog who you can order to sit kook , im tired i don’t have time for this” You sigh shaking your head , turning to walk away. As you took a few steps away from him you felt his hands grip on your wrist
What does he want from me? He doesn’t want me so why is he pushing this , why is he acting up?
“Look at me Y/N” He says , hand still holding onto your wrist
But you ignore him , feeling emotional after your conversation with jaehyun and being under jungkooks hold
“Y/N Look at me baby”
Baby?
“Baby? Your calling me baby now?” you scoff and face jungkook with watery eyes
“You have no right to call me that , you made it clear to me that i wasn’t enough for you so why are you doing this , why are you holding me back?” You look right into his eyes which have turned desperate and sad.
“I tried really hard not to like you because of your brother , from the day i met you i was instantly told that you were off limits , from the first day you were out of reach and i-“
“Don’t bullshit me kook because that excuse is becoming boring now , you used that same excuse after touching me and that wasn’t exactly me being off limits now was it” You say cutting him off , which leaves him dumbfounded.
“Listen Y/N and don’t interrupt me , until tonight i didn’t realise how petty your brother was being and it became clear to me after you went on that date that i should be the one taking you out , that i should be the one making you smile and holding your hand , i should’ve never let my feelings- infact , i should’ve never let your feelings get hurt if that’s how i felt about you , im sorry will you please forgive me”
He sounds so sincere , he’s making it so hard to not love him
You sigh “I’ve been seen as the immature little sister for years , as someone who can’t make their own desicions and on that night you made me feel like exactly that , like i was just my brothers little sister who isn’t worth being loved”
You pause feeling emotional and Jungkook stands up and stands right infront of you cupping your face.
“i would never make you feel like that again , im past what your brother has to say and i want to take you seriously , i’ve known you for years and i love everything about you , how your not afraid to share your opinions , how you wear those huge t-shirts to sleep , how you wear cute headbands and takes risks , your amazing”
Both of you look at eachother with eyes watering and jungkooks hands travel to your neck slowly.
His eyes flicker from your eyes to your lips and you both lean towards each other , lips finally connecting after you have been longing for each other the entire time.
Tears run from both of your eyes as you embrace eachother , lips moulding into eachothers like it’s the last time.
You have never felt such passion before , this whole time you were convinced that Jungkook didn’t want you but the way he’s holding you , touching you and kissing you , you can feel the sincerity.
You break out of your thoughts when jungkook leads you to your room and shuts the door behind you both , laying you on your bed gently.
No words are exchanged but your bodies speak to eachother.
He slowly removes his clothes revealing his toned body you were certain he had and unbuckling his jeans (which was a wonderful view)
You lay back and removed your dress too , revealing your bare breasts as your dress was padded. Jungkook gawks at your beauty , topping over you placing slow sensual kisses from your lips to your neck.
“You’re so pretty” He says through kisses as he moves from your neck to your chest , talking your left nipple in his mouth with his tongue swirling around it.
You moan pushing your chest against his mouth , wrapping your legs around his waist wanting him to grind between your legs.
Jungkook takes the hint and thrusts into your body, his hardened bulge rubbing directly onto your clit. You wrap your arms around his broad shoulders as he places his face in your neck , grunting at friction.
“I want you kook, Do you finally want me too?”
“i’ve always wanted you Y/N” Jungkook breathes out and takes his pants off , leaving him in only in his boxers. You take your panties off , lying completely bare before him.
Jungkook takes his hand and traces it down your body , the atmosphere is so warm and inviting. You run your hand over his buldge and tug his boxers down , he bites his lip at the beautiful sight before him.
His dick springs free and slaps against his stomach. He’s hard and really big too - you salivate at the sight of him.
Jungkook takes it upon himself to please you after he left you without release the last time , so he climbs between your legs and places kisses on your inner thighs Licking your clit .
“Oh yes, yes there” you say clenching your eyes shut and arching your back with your hands tangled in his hair.
“hm you taste good” moving his tongue quicker on the perfect spot pushing you closer to orgasm .
Your breathing becomes irregular as you feel that sensation growing , you go to clamp your legs around his head as his tongue works magic.
But jungkook grabs your thighs and holds your stomach down asserting some sort of dominance over you which turns you on even more - pushing you to your high.
“oh fuck i- oh yes kook” Your body jolts against his mouth , he sits up and his mouth is wet with your juices.
You take him into a heated kiss , not caring about the taste of yourself lingering in his mouth.
“please make love to me , i want you in me , i need you in me”
“Anything you want , let me show you how much i need you” He says placing a gentle kiss on your head before taking his dick in his hand and rubbing it between your folds , lubricating his tip.
The tip occasionally bumped your clit , making you more eager for him to just fuck you.
“stop teasing”
“So demanding hmm, you ready?”
Pffft am i ready
“I’ve been ready” You say with a smirk , biting your bottom lip.
He places his dick at your entrance , glancing up at you as he gently thrusts into you.
You both gasp at the feeling of being connected to one another , feeling eachother entirely.
“oh fuck” His head falls down , jaw slack and eyes clenched shut , putting his muscular arms beside your head.
“your so tight around me , f-fuck you feel so good” He breathed out trying his hardest not to pound into you right away.
“Would i be crazy if i said i still don’t feel close enough to you” You pant.
“i’m literally inside of you right now” Jungkook chuckles and shakes his head.
“i just want you so bad , all of you , i need you to move right now and show me you want me too”
“that’s all i needed to hear” and that’s what he says before pushing into you gradually harder and faster , his tip rutting into your G-Spot and his lips moving against your neck.
Your tits bounce as he grinds into you and your legs tighten around his hips.
“fuckk” You moan out
“feel good baby?, you wanna be a good girl and ride me?”
You nod rapidly as you quickly switch positions, sinking down onto his cock slowly filling yourself up even more than before.
“oh my god oh my god” you throw your head back and place a hand over your mouth to block out any sound coming from your mouth.
“let me hear you angel , i wanna listen to how much you love this dick”
God the way he talks is so filthy yet so pleasing , im addicted
You obey and place your hand on his chest as you bounce up and down on his length.
“You fill me up so well kook”
“yeah?”
“mhmmm”
Jungkook loves the sounds spilling from your mouth , so much that he can’t help but thrust upwards into you , meeting your rhythm and bringing you to the orgasm you deserve
“I want you to cum on my cock , you will do that for me won’t you?”
“i will i will” You cry out as you clench around his length , which sends him over the edge firmly grabbing your hips as he fucks into you from below.
You both reach climax together and you hunch over falling on top of him breathless. He wraps his firm arms around your back to hold you close. The room is heated and filled with the sounds of both of you breathing heavily.
His cock slides out of you as you roll over nexto him, he gets up to get a towel , cleaning you up and taking proper care of you.
Afterwards you both crawl back into bed and embrace eachother whilst he fiddles with your hair
“Y/N im truly sorry for last time , the last thing i wanted was to hurt your feelings , will you let me love you properly and not just on this one occasion?”
“Your going to need to be more specific” you smile hoping he means what you think he means
“i mean , will you be my girlfriend you brat” he chuckles placing a kiss on your forehead
“ask me again nicely” You stick your tongue out at him
“Please miss Y/N will you take me as your boyfriend” He announces in a silly british accent
“I shall kind sir” You say as you both giggle at one another
“we’re such nerds” he breathes out and smiles
You lay and trace his tattoos and his piercings, appreciating him like artwork
“that’s kinda ticklish” He smirks
“deal with it” You reply
“who would’ve thought i’d fall in love with my bestfriends little sister”
“Told you not to refer to me like that” you roll your eyes and poke him
“Right , your Not So Little afterall” He smiles

Could you do the Diamond sisters spilling Cater’s embarrassing childhood stories to his friends (either the other Heartslabyuls or the Pop Music Club)? I like to imagine the first thing they would do is wreak havoc on Cater’s carefully crafted persona, intentional or not.
Decided to combine these all and do headcanons instead of an interaction due to the high number of characters (Heartslabyul + Lilia and Kalim, Cater's clubmates)!
Please note that we don't know exactly how old Cater's sisters are, but here I'm headcanoning them as being only a few years older than Cater.
Curiouser and Curiouser...
Oh, the Diamond sisters LOVE Riddle. They hang all over him and squeal about how cute he is, much to his dismay. He’s not used to this much… open affection. It makes him feel weird!
He clears his throat several times and tries to remind them that he is not a boy, he is a young man, and he would appreciate it if they treated him as such. It’s a useless effort anyway—his words fall on deaf ears.
The Diamond sisters love it even more when he gets all red in the face. “Aw, he’s like a little strawberry,” they gush, not realizing that Riddle is this close to snapping and flying into a rage-filled frenzy. (His dorm members marvel at him actually exercising his limited patience; they placed bets with one another to see how long Riddle's temper can hold out for.)
He doesn’t much care for hearing stories from the Diamonds, finding them very frivolous. What’s with this family’s obsession with aesthetics? Riddle wonders. Why don’t they dedicate their time to more worthwhile pursuits like academics? And yet… why does his chest thud with a dull pain when he thinks about Cater in a large, empty house, packing up his life away into cardboard boxes?
The Diamond sisters are all over Trey too—but for completely different reasons than they were with Riddle. They drone on and on about how Trey is “husband material” and needlessly feel up his (beefy) arms, cooing and fluttering their lashes at him.
Trey awkwardly laughs off their jokes and shies away from their touch as politely as he can, making it clear he isn’t interested. He tries to deflect by changing the subject or offering tea and cakes and, if worse comes to worse, asks Cater for a save. (… Unfortunately, this makes the Diamond sisters think he’s playing “hard to get”.)
Trey actually likes hearing stories about Cater’s childhood; clearly, Cater won’t be this open with others himself, so getting this lore from his sisters is Trey’s second best option. Back then, Cater seemed so real and so vulnerable. Mask entirely off. Trey only wishes that Cater could be this unguarded with him in present day.
He has to admit, it’s amusing how flustered Cater gets trying to act unfazed or to play off his most embarrassing moments. Little by little, Trey feels as though the Diamond sisters are whittling away at his peer’s facade. He can’t help but be a little mean about it, taking this opportunity to join the Diamond sisters in teasing Cater. “So that’s what you were like, huh…”
He thinks he’s hot stuff, he could toootally bag Cater’s sisters—just watch him! … And so Ace slicks back his hair and tries his darndest to flirt with them, but to no avail. (The mob students make fun of him for having no rizz, but he defends himself by going, “L-Like you guys could do any better!!”) Man, he’s so jealous of Trey! How come he’s such a chick magnet even though he’s not even actively trying?!
The Diamond sisters wrinkle their noses at him and whisper to one another about how Ace is sooo annoying and cringefail. Think like… mean girls gossiping about you to your face. Real blow to Ace’s ego here.
Though the flirting doesn’t work out, Ace did initially manage to dazzle the girls with a few of his card tricks. The Diamond sisters clap their hands and demand that he “do it again” or tell them how the trick is done. He’d just cheekily wink and say, “Sorry, ladies! I never give away my secrets.”
There’s tea about Cater-senpai’s childhood? Ace is one of the first in line to hear about it!! He’ll memorize the stories and reenact them (including a falsetto voice for young Cater) for the entire dorm later, earning him Cater’s ire. “Ne, Ace-chan~ Don’t you think you’re bullying poor old Cay-kun too hard?”
As the man of the household, Deuce is usually helping out his mom or the other older ladies in the neighborhood, so he thinks it’s only appropriate to maintain that formal, upright behavior when addressing Cater’s sisters! This leads to Deuce calling both of them “ma’am” very loudly, which attracts stares from everyone 💀
The Diamond sisters wail about the whole “ma’am” thing. Like, just what is Deuce insinuating about their ages?! Do they look that old to him?! Is he saying he think they’re hags?! He hurriedly assures them he doesn’t mean anything by it, it’s meant to be respectful (but in the process, he accidentally calls them “ma’am” again and reignites their shrieking).
Appalled by Ace's attempts to flirt with the Diamond sisters, insisting that Ace should "be more of a gentleman, like Clover-senpai!" (He's dense and not fully aware of how uncomfortable Trey is with the circumstances.)
Deuce profusely apologizes to Cater for “hearing something he shouldn’t have” (ie his embarrassing childhood stories). He promises that he’ll act like he didn’t hear anything at all! He wears it on his life!! (This doesn't reassure Cater in the slightest. "Eeeeh, the more Deuce-chan says it, the more concerned I get!")
If there's one thing the Diamond sisters love as much as cute things, it's clout! They fawn over Kalim--well, more specifically, his family's wealth and status. (Some might even call it ass kissing.) Kalim's pretty oblivious to it, though. He thinks Cater's sisters are just being friendly with him, so he's friendly right back to them!
The Diamond sisters start to chatter about all these luxurious items they've been ogling. Designer shoes, haute couture dresses, jewelry heavy with gemstones... Kalim very nearly indulges the Diamond sisters by offering to buy those things for them (as "gifts to commemorate their new friendship"), but Cater cuts in to stop him!! "K-Kalim-kun, put away your wallet! The last thing I need right now is Jamil-kun after my neck!"
Kalim's just as bad as the Diamond sisters when it comes to spilling the beans on Cater. While the Diamond sisters yammer on about little baby Cater's missteps, Kalim tells them about the dumb stuff he and Cater get up to in club! They take turns trading stories and dunking on the poor guy...
But the difference between the Diamond sisters and Kalim? Kalim actually puts a positive spin on many of his tales. No matter how bad a show goes or how big the screw up... "All that matters is that we were in it together and had fun doing it. Cater's great at coming up with creative ideas. It makes me really happy to be able to call him my friend and band mate!"
The complete opposite of Riddle. Lilia adores being told he's cute. In fact, he encourages the Diamond sisters to "keep the compliments coming", because adorable things should be seen and adored! (Riddle huffs; Lilia is so shameless about all of this, especially as an upperclassman!)
He gets super into talking with the Diamond sisters about fashion, hair, and even nail polish colors. Lilia mentions some of his favorite and goes on a long spiel about how fashion trends have evolved over the years, and even gets into giving tips and tricks to the Diamonds. Cater's impressed with how smoothly Lilia's handling his sisters!
Lilia listens attentively as the Diamond sisters share their best (worst) stories about little Cater. He coos and chuckles at how cute Cater was "as a wee lad" and pitches in with stories about his own child, phrasing it as though Silver was someone he babysat frequently rather than his own son to avoid confusing the sisters. They murmur approvingly--not only is Lilia inventive and fashion-forward, but he's also great with children!
The Diamond sisters decide that Lilia is their new bestie and exchange numbers with him. He later lets his online buddy, Gloomurai, know about how he got the numbers of two hot women, which Gloomurai pops off about. "gg man ur rizz is INSANE." (Idia can't believe that a single father like Crimson Muscle still has mad game like this!)
BONUS: Some of the Diamond sisters' stories!
(P.S. If you like Cater + Cinderella stuff, you should check out this Cinderella retelling featuring Twst characters ;9)
Apparently, Cater used to talk to the rats and birds before he got a phone (not that he understood them at that age). After moving around so much as a kid, it became difficult for him to make friends with the local children so he'd practice his personas on the vermin in the community.
Once, they were playing dress-up together using their mother's wardrobe and makeup drawer... but they started fighting over some things that Cater was wearing, and his sisters ended up tearing the dress they wanted into rags, as well as snapping many pieces of jewelry. Everyone got scolded and punished that day, even little Cater, who hadn't done anything wrong.
He didn't like lentils as a kid so he'd pretend to trip and fall, spilling them into the ashes in the fireplace. Cater would have to pick all of them out by hand, but the chore was honestly preferable to eating them.
They used to play a game where they'd try to balance various stuff on their heads while walking. Normally it was various numbers of books--seeing who could stack the most--but once Cater tried a tray with a teapot and cups on it. That... didn't go so well.
Cater liked to pretend he was a celebrity! He'd bounce around singing with his hairbrush as a microphone or act like he was MCing for a ball. He would sing a lot as he scrubbed the floors too, popping soap bubbles as he did so.

Shadows of the Heart
Part 6
Azriel x Fem!Reader
Summary: After years apart, Y/n returns to Velaris, bearing the weight of sacrifice and secrets from her past. Reunited with Rhysand and his Inner Circle, she navigates the complexities of rekindled friendships and unresolved tensions.
WC: 3.6k
Warnings: mentions of wounds hurting, but nothing particularly graphic but it is located on the arm.
[Prologue], [Part 1], [Part 2], [Part 3], [Part 4], [Part 5]
The House of Wind, perched high above the glittering city of Velaris, offered a view that could steal the breath from the lungs of gods and fae alike. Yet, the sight of the ten thousand stairs winding down to the city dimmed the splendor of the vista before Y/n. Memories of youthful races with Rhys and his sister, of nights spent laughing under the stars until they were too intoxicated to winnow home, brought a nostalgic smile to her lips. There was a particular memory, hazed with the fog of drunken mirth, of them staggering up these very stairs, each step a battle against gravity and their swirling heads, pausing periodically to empty their stomachs into the bushes that edged the ascent.
She considered, not for the first time, leveraging those memories to coax Rhys—or even Mor—into assisting her down, no questions asked.
Cassian, too, would have offered a lift without a second thought, especially after her rigorous training session with the Valkyries that morning. But admitting, even silently, that she couldn't manage on her own was a concession Y/n wasn't ready to make. Not after her display of strength and defiance the day before. Her pride, stubborn and fierce, whispered warnings that Rhys and Mor would see right through her, and Cassian...well, Cassian might not connect the dots immediately, but word would spread.
Biting her lip, Y/n weighed her options. It was only ten thousand steps. She wasn't so frail, so weary, that the descent seemed insurmountable—though the unhealed cut on her arm begged to differ. She had concealed it beneath thin bindings and a long-sleeved blouse of pale blue, cropped at the waist and chosen in the hopes it wouldn't appear too out of place on such a warm, sun-kissed day.
"Are you headed to town?"
Y/n looked behind, half-expecting to find Azriel clad in his typical leathers, silently admonishing herself for letting him surprise her once more. Instead, she found herself caught off-guard by the casual attire he donned—a black pair of pants and a navy shirt loosely tucked in, revealing a hint of his Illyrian tattoos at the v-neck. Her gaze lingered a moment too long, tracing the intricate designs across his skin and the way his shirt clung to the contours of his well-defined chest.
Azriel's smirk, a rare break in his stoic facade, acknowledged her wandering gaze. Before the silence stretched too thin, he offered, "Would you like a ride?"
The question hung between them, weighted with unspoken implications. Y/n turned back to the stairs, the vast descent looming before her.
"Y/n?" His call, soft yet insistent, pulled her back from the edge of her thoughts.
He had stepped closer, almost as if drawn by her hesitation.
"No...I mean, no thank you, Azriel,"
At the uncertainty in his gaze, she felt the need to elaborate, “I wouldn’t want to hold you up, I’ll go myself just…a bit later”
Her excuse sounded thin even to her ears, yet Azriel's offer remained, undeterred by her wavering resolve. "It would be my pleasure to escort you. They say the view is even more spectacular by air."
Y/n seized the opportunity, masking her relief with a playful curiosity. "They?"
Azriel's cheeks tinged with red, his words stumbling over themselves. "You know, Mor, Nesta, Elai—" His voice faltered, a rare display of vulnerability.
"Very well," Y/n conceded, allowing him a graceful escape from his flustered explanation. "I wouldn't want to be late for our meeting. And, I suppose it's been ages since I've seen Velaris from above. Only if it's no bother to you."
"No, it's no bother at all," Azriel assured her, his words tumbling out with an eagerness he couldn't mask.
Y/n positioned herself, lifting her arms in readiness. Azriel's touch was gentle yet firm as he lifted her, a care in his hold that sent an unexpected warmth flooding through her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, resisting the urge to draw closer, to seek comfort in the strength of his embrace.
Instead, her eyes traced the tattoos she had glimpsed before, a silent admiration for the art that marked his skin. Around them, Azriel's shadows danced with a life of their own, keeping her secure and holding her hair from flailing in the wind.
In the silence that enveloped them, Y/n could discern the faint, rapid beating of Azriel's heart, its rhythm slightly too hurried for an Illyrian warrior on a leisurely flight. But Y/n kept her thoughts to herself, knowing that her heart was perhaps skipping as well.
Upon reaching the bustling heart of the town, Azriel gently descended, allowing Y/n to stand on her own. His arms reluctantly released her, a sense of loss washing over him as the warmth of her presence receded.
"Thanks for the ride, Azriel," her gratitude lit up her features with a warm smile.
"It was my pleasure," he managed to reply, his voice steadier than his racing heart.
Seizing the moment before doubt could diminish his resolve, he found himself suggesting, "If you'd like, I could show you around as well... around Velaris and its newer sights, after you're done with your errands, of course."
Y/n paused, her gaze sweeping over the town's lively expanse before settling back on him. "I'd like that," she agreed, a softness in her voice that coaxed a hopeful glimmer in Azriel's eyes.
"It's been so long since I've seen Velaris, I’ll meet you back here in an hour?”
As she stepped away, Azriel realized then, with startling clarity, that he had no actual business in the town. Yet, the prospect of spending more time with Y/n, of reintroducing her home seemed like the most significant task of all.
He should use this period to plan. To think about the places in Velaris that would spark interest in her eyes, the hidden corners and new developments he'd watched over from the shadows. It wasn't just about filling the time; it was about crafting moments that might bridge the gap between them.
As he lingered in thought, Azriel's attention was momentarily drawn to his shadows, which had, unbeknownst to him, begun to reach out towards Y/n's departing figure, specifically curling towards her left arm. With a subtle command, he reeled them back, a silent acknowledgment of her right to privacy. Despite his longing for closeness, he respected the boundaries between them, even those unseen.
Y/n was ashamed to admit it, but she double-checked every reflection she saw, cautious of any lurking shadows. The idea of anyone, particularly Azriel, tracing her steps to this particular location filled her with unease. Besides, she was embarrassed at the several missed turns it took before she finally arrived at her destination. Velaris had indeed changed; the streets still boasted their characteristic cobblestone pathways and white marble houses with green roofs. Yet, the atmosphere was distinctly different—teeming with fae from all corners of Prythian. It was a strange notion, to feel like a stranger in the land she had once called her home.
This sandstone building, however, was unchanged, just as she remembered it from all those years ago, tucked away in a nondescript corner. The walls were still lined with shelves that reached up to the high ceilings, each crammed with jars and bottles of varying shapes and sizes, filled with mixtures of different herbs. In the center of the room, cozy couches were draped with handwoven throws inviting patrons to sit and bask in the tranquility of the space. The soft glow of lanterns cast a gentle light, already comforting her tense nerves.
“Just a moment!” she heard stepping in, before being greeted by a High Fae woman with dark skin, spindrift hair now touched with grey, and brown eyes that still sparkled with an inner warmth, despite the new wrinkles framing them.
The shock of recognition was mutual. “Y/n?” the woman exclaimed.
“Madja! It’s been too long,” Y/n said, moving in for a hug.
They embraced warmly before Madja pulled back, eyeing her with a mix of suspicion and affection. “It’s never been good when you’ve entered this store,” she remarked, an eyebrow arched in playful admonition.
Y/n laughed, the sound mingling with a sense of nostalgia. “Rhys and I weren't that bad, were we?” she quipped, attempting to deflect.
“Oh no,” Madja shot back with a smile, “You both were absolutely terrible.” Her tone softened, betraying the fondness behind her words.
Memories of past injuries, ranging from the ridiculous outcomes of foolish dares to the more serious wounds acquired during brutal training sessions, flashed through Y/n’s mind. She nodded, conceding the point. “But you were always there for us,” she said, gratitude lacing her voice.
"Yes, always there—mostly wondering which of you would walk in next, and whether I'd need a broom or a stretcher."
Then Madja’s expression turned more serious. “How can I help you today, Y/n?”
Fidgeting, Y/n glanced around the shop before responding. “I’m just here to look at some herbs...” Her voice trailed off, unconvincing even to her own ears.
Madja’s gaze narrowed slightly, but not unkindly. “Planning to brew your own tonic, are we?” she teased before adding, “If you need something for sleep or pain, I can prepare it for you. Discreetly, of course.”
Caught off guard, Y/n hesitated, then muttered something about merely experimenting in her free time. However, to divert Madja’s prying eyes, she offered a truth and quickly agreed to the offer of a sleep tonic. “Yes, that...my insomnia has been relentless lately.”
Madja nodded, her expression softening into one of understanding. “I’ll prepare something for you. No one needs to know,” she assured.
While Madja busied herself, Y/n’s gaze wandered across the shelves, laden with jars of herbs, vials of potions, and artifacts of healing and magic, feeling a bit overwhelmed. She’d never admit it out loud, but her alchemy and potions for healing weren’t particularly up to par. For poison, well she already clocked 5 different ones she could create from the herbs she’d be able to identify thus far.
But for healing, and particularly for a wound that she’d not thought twice about before, with her magic and fae heritage naturally taking care of it; she realized then that she should have made a stop at a bookstore or visited the library this morning.
By the time she had gathered the herbs she hoped would do, Madja returned, handing Y/n a small, unmarked vial.
“Take two drops before bed,” she instructed, her voice low. “And Y/n,” she added, her eyes meeting the sorceress's, “whatever you’re facing, remember you’re not alone. Velaris isn’t just a city; it’s home.
Y/n’s heart clenched at the sincerity in Madja’s words. “Thank you, Madja,” she said, her voice thick with gratitude. She paid for the tonic and her bundle, seeing Madja’s impartial glance as a sign that she hadn’t chosen anything too offputting.
Stepping out of the shop, Y/n took a deep breath, the air of Velaris filling her lungs, mingling with the scents of the river and the blooming night flowers. The city might have changed, but its essence, the heart of it, remained the same—a haven for the lost, the brave, and those in need of healing.
As the agreed time approached, Azriel's gaze was constantly drawn towards the path Y/n would emerge from. The anticipation had woven a tapestry of nerves and excitement within him, a feeling unfamiliar yet thrilling. His shadows, ever-present companions, danced around him with an energy that mirrored his own. When they alerted him to her presence, a wave of something akin to relief washed over him.
She was making her way towards him, her steps confident, yet he noticed something different—a bag clutched in her hand, an addition to her ensemble.
Curiosity piqued, Azriel couldn't help but ask about the bag as soon as greetings were exchanged. "What's in the bag? If you don't mind me asking," he inquired, his tone light, trying to mask the depth of his curiosity and concern.
Y/n glanced down at the bag, a playful smirk dancing on her lips. "Oh, just some cosmetics," she joked, her voice laced with humor. "I felt my complexion still looks very pallid. Thought I might need a touch-up if I continue to stay in the illustrious night court."
Azriel, taken aback by her answer yet finding it endearing, responded without hesitation, his voice sincere. "You look beautiful, Y/n. You don't need anything more for that."
The moment the words left his mouth, a warm flush of embarrassment colored his cheeks, mirroring the blush that bloomed on Y/n's face. Azriel couldn’t help but feel pleased with her reaction, though he tried to ignore how he longed to see where else that rosy hue would appear.
Seeking to recover from the moment, Azriel cleared his throat softly, gesturing towards the city. "Shall we begin our tour? Velaris has much to offer, and I'd like to show you everything I've planned."
Y/n nodded, her smile bright, the earlier blush still present but accompanied now by a look of genuine happiness. "I'd love that, Azriel. Lead the way."
As they ventured into the heart of Velaris, Azriel found himself sharing stories and lore of the city, each tale carefully chosen to entertain or spark curiosity in Y/n. He noticed how her eyes lit up with each new sight, her laughter more melodious to his ears than any music. It was as if, with her by his side, Velaris transformed into an even more magical place, its beauty magnified through her presence.
“It’s said that this fountain,” Azriel gestured to an ornate structure, water dancing under the sun’s fading glow, “was built by a high lord as a tribute to his mate’s beauty, which he believed surpassed even that of the Night Court’s stars.”
Y/n’s laughter, light and infectious, filled the air. “A high bar for beauty,” she remarked, her gaze lingering on the play of light over water. “Do you think such comparisons are fair, comparing someone to the stars?”
Azriel found himself caught in the depth of her gaze, her curiosity igniting his own. “Perhaps not fair, but it speaks to the beholder's awe. Don’t we all aspire to find a love like that, where the connection is so intense, that it could rival the stars?
But just as their souls seemed on the verge of whispering secrets only the heart could hear, the boisterous cry of a vendor shattered the stillness.
"Delicacies of the night! Taste the wonders of Velaris!" His voice, loud and full of life, tore through the tender veil of connection they had cocooned themselves within.
In an instant, the world rushed back in—a flood of sounds and lights, washing away the moment of intense closeness they had found. They were left adrift, surrounded by the vibrant chaos of the night market, the poignant ache of a moment lost too soon lingering in the air between them.
The day gave way to evening almost without notice, hours spent in exploration and shared discovery.
Azriel led her through the vibrant heart of Velaris, showcasing the city's architectural marvels—the four Palaces. They spent the most time at the Palace of Thread and Jewels, a bustling market square alive with the hum of creative energy. Here, amidst stalls adorned with fabrics that whispered tales of distant lands and jewelry that sparkled with the promise of untold stories, Y/n came alive in a way Azriel hadn't seen before.
He watched, fascinated, as she engaged with the vendors, her knowledge of gems and textiles flowing effortlessly, her eyes lighting up with each piece she examined. Her hands, graceful and assured, would trace the lines of cloth, her touch eliciting stories from silk and satin alike.
In one of those quiet moments, shared over a stall draped in velvets and brocades, Y/n turned to Azriel, a softness in her eyes. "When I was much younger," she confessed, "I dreamt of being a fashion designer. I wanted to create clothes that weren't just worn but experienced—garments that would steal the breath from those who beheld them."
Azriel's gaze softened as he listened, the ambient noises of the marketplace fading into the background. "That's a beautiful dream," he responded, his voice low and thoughtful. "The clothes we wear can speak volumes, tell stories, and even protect us. Your designs could have done all that and more, I believe."
She laughed, a sound that mingled with the evening air, rich and full of possibilities. "Maybe in another life, Azriel. For now, I'm content with my path, though it's nice to dream a little."
As they continued to explore the stalls, Azriel couldn't help but see the market—and Y/n—in a new light. Every thread, every jewel, seemed to hold a piece of the dream she had shared with him. And in that moment, he made a silent vow to himself to support her dreams, in whatever form they might take, hoping that they could come true with him at her side.
As the gallery’s doors closed behind them, Azriel realized the day had slipped away into the evening, the sky a canvas of deep blues and purples. “You must be hungry after our day,” he said, the thought striking him with sudden concern. “Would you join me for dinner?”
The smile Y/n offered in response, wide and genuine, set his heart racing. “I’d love to, Azriel. Thank you.”
Choosing a quaint restaurant known for its exquisite cuisine and intimate ambiance, Azriel had such joy when she accepted his invitation. However, as they approached the entrance, he reached out to gently guide her by the arm, a gesture meant to be polite. To his surprise, she recoiled—a flash of discomfort shadowing her features.
Throughout dinner, Azriel couldn’t shake off the feeling that he had overstepped, his mind replaying the moment she flinched. Despite the array of dishes that graced their table, she barely touched her food, her usual spark dimmed to a quiet reserve.
“Y/n, if I did something earlier to upset you, I apologize. It wasn’t my intention,” he ventured, hoping to bridge the silence that had settled between them.
Y/n shook her head, offering a small smile. “No, Azriel, you didn’t do anything wrong. I’m just not very hungry tonight, that’s all.”
Despite her reassurance, Azriel couldn’t help but feel a gnawing insecurity for the rest of the evening, wondering what unseen barriers still lay between them. The night that had started with laughter and shared secrets now seemed cloaked in a quiet tension, and Azriel found himself wishing for the ability to read her thoughts, to understand her silence.
As they stepped out of the restaurant into the velvet night, the streets of Velaris were bathed in the soft glow of starlight and lamplights, casting ethereal shadows around them. Azriel, still filled with guilt from the earlier incident, searched for words to lighten the mood and make amends. He longed to suggest they fly back, to offer her the breathtaking views of Velaris by night from the sanctuary of his arms. Yet, the memory of her recoiling from his touch echoed loudly in his mind, a reminder of the boundaries he feared to overstep again.
With a heavy heart, he proposed instead to winnow them back, a quicker, less intimate mode of travel. "We can winnow back, but it's a bit of a drop—we'll land on the balcony. I'll need to hold you for just a moment to manage the descent," he explained, trying to mask his disappointment.
Y/n, fiddling with her bag, offered a small nod, her voice quiet.
"That's fine. I'll just hold onto your arm. I should be okay with the drop," she replied, the simplicity of the arrangement failing to hide the distance it imposed.
As they landed with soft thuds on the balcony, Azriel couldn't help but notice how the moonlight painted Y/n's features, highlighting her beauty yet highlighting her pallor. She thanked him, her voice a whisper against the night, as she turned to leave. The urge to reach out, to bridge the space between them with a touch, surged within him, but he halted, his fingers hovering mere breaths away from her shoulder. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable earlier," he found himself saying again, the words heavy with unspoken feelings.
Y/n shook her head, a gesture of dismissal or perhaps forgiveness, Azriel couldn't tell. "I'm just tired, that's all. The day finally caught up to me," she offered, her voice carrying a fatigue that went beyond the physical.
The silence that followed was filled with things unsaid, with Azriel's silent plea for understanding and Y/n's unspoken reassurances. When he hesitantly asked if she was still alright with him assisting her with her research, she nodded, her agreement to meet at the library the next day offering a glimmer of hope, a possibility of redemption.
As she retreated into the night, leaving Azriel alone with his thoughts on the balcony, he watched her go with a sense of loss.
A/N: Hi eveyone!! So I'm not really sure how I feel about this chapter. Tbh I had a lot of writer's block and I wasn't really sure where I wanted Y/n and azriel to go during these chapters. But I do LOVE a blushing Az!!!
I have plans for future chapters and I really want to add in some more snippets about Y/n and Rhys as children and teenagers, messing and playing around with each other. Let me know if you have any ideas you'd want to read!

Ooo if you’re still looking for request ideas, I have one!!
Can I please request a Carmy x fem!single Mom!reader where Y/n is new to Chicago and is looking for somewhere to eat with her two year old daughter, and she finds The Beef/The Bear. She’s super exhausted and has her hands full, and also trying to order when her daughter runs into the kitchen before Y/n can grab her, Y/n running back to get her but Carmy gets to her daughter first and picks her up. Y/n would be sooo mortified and apologizing so much, but Carmen is super sweet and comps her meal (much to her surprise) and the staff are super sweet with her daughter 🤧
Y/n frequently visiting the restaurant after that to eat and also see her fav, most adorable (hot) chef 🥹
haley baby | carmen berzatto
thanks for requesting this! - not proofread - nav post - cw: mom/fem!reader, single!mom!reader
Being a single mother, you were used to the chaos that mornings brought. Being a single mom in a completely unfamiliar town was a new ballpark.
Your daughter, Haley, was in that stage of being picky with what she likes. Her favorite thing was French fries, and you happened to find (thanks to a quick online search) a spot with the “best fries in Chicago”, according to one review.
Well, dianeivans392, you would have to be the judge of that statement.
Haley had also been in the stage of running ahead of you. Baby pink sneakers stepping against the pavement as you jogged behind her, you guided her inside the sandwich shop. “You gotta stay by mama, okay?” You ask softly before you place in the order.
You should have known once you started paying your daughter would have taken the opportunity to run into the back. Letting out a small yelp, you hurriedly put your items back into your purse, prepared to be yelled at by whoever’s back there.
Instead, less then a minute later, a man comes out with Haley in his arms. She seems infatuated by him, watching his every movement. You don't blame her. Part of you wants to be worried because some random man has your child in his arms.
The other part of you, the part that swears his eyes are having a secret conversation with yours, tells that first part to pipe down.
"I'm so sorry about her, she's been in this phase of running and all the books say to just let her explore but they don't account for dangerous environments for a child, and I looked away for one second and-" your apologetic ramble was cut short by the man smiling. "It's okay. I don't mind, really." He hands Haley back over to you, holding his hand out. "I'm Carmen."
You shake his hand before focusing on your daughter, pushing some of her light blonde curls out of her face. "I'm Y/N." You're cautious. "Thanks for grabbing her." You say with a nod, and he smiles. “No worries. She seems fun.” He comments.
You laugh. “That doesn’t begin to describe her.” You comment, remembering the food you’re meant to pay for. You grab out your card, about to hand it to the guy behind the counter before Carmen clears his throat. He steps behind the counter, whispering something in the cashier’s ear. Hitting a few buttons on the register, the cashier gives you a smile as Carmen walks to the back. “Your food will be out soon.”
You stare at him, about to question what happened until the blue eyed .. stranger, guardian angel, whatever he seems to be, returns. A bag in hand, two boxes of fries in hand. “For you, m’lady.”
You look at the bag, shaking your head. “I can’t accept these for free, Carmen-”
“You are. I’m not offering, I’m telling you. Take them.” He insists. And you aren’t going to argue when he looks at you with this desperation in his eyes.
You thank him again and take the bag, adjusting your daughter on your hip.
──
From then on, you were one of the regulars. You’d let the other staff come and say hi to your daughter, even growing close with Natalie, Carmen’s sister, who fell in love with your daughter.
You celebrated a lot with them. Haley’s third birthday, they were in attendance. They were there when you got a promotion at work, when you needed someone’s shoulder to cry on.
Not to mention, you and Carmen were undeniably flirting with each other everytime you spoke. It wasn’t a shock when he asked you on a date - a date that consisted of him cooking for you in your apartment while Haley slept in her bedroom.

wc: 1.1k
When you were younger you always assumed once you met that person who is supposed to love you as you are, always and forever, life's problems would cease to exist, because you found the love of your life.
After your first heartbreak, you realized you were sorely mistaken, you felt stupid for ever believing that fairytale.
Life is cruel and often unfair, whether it was the environment or politics, the world kept on letting you down, your whole life you worked hard for the bare minimum, your mother worked two jobs to pay for college, while watching others live life just a bit easier, or at least not worrying if they could afford groceries that week.
Despite your differences, you were grateful for having a strong mother, she taught you to find joy in the mundane and to never allow your worries to overpower your spirit for too long, because there is joy in the world, the trick is to find it.
For a long time, after countless jerks and disappointments, you thought love was just a glorified infatuation, maybe your career was enough... you'd make it be enough.
But one early morning, on your way to a job interview, your mother's car broke down, but as tears were already staining your freshly steamed blouse, you realized you had the card for a mechanic, the best one in the city according to your sister.
After calling, you expected the Mario bros but instead, the most beautiful men you'd ever seen in your life drove in, while the 6'0'' brunette checked out your car, you felt weirdly comfortable enough to sob about your missed opportunity to the 6'2'' blonde.
By the time you were dying your tears, Steve you'd learned his name was, wouldn't have it, offering to give you a ride to your interview, you were about to kiss him on the spot but instead promised him a date if you got the job.
You didn't get the job, but you still called Steve, he was unlike anyone you'd ever met, loyal, kind borderline bleeding heart, chivalrous, romantic, and a goody two shoes.
Now, after almost 10 years together, and 5 of them married, you never doubted the existence of love again, you felt it with every heartbeat, you saw it in his eyes every day.
But life was still life despite being married to the love of your life.
Cats and dogs poured down as you closed the door behind you, shaking off your pink water boots you cursed yourself when you got mud on the floor.
It was past 7pm so you knew Steve was home, he'd usually be making dinner with Marvin Gaye in the background, but the apartment was quiet, with only the rain to fill the silence.
You found in the kitchen a pizza box waiting to be eaten so now you were sure he was home, and since the apartment only had 3 bedrooms, there could only be one other place he could be.
And there he was, sitting in the rain on the fire escape, shoulders down, as his eyes admired the rain.
Worry weighed down in your bones, and in seconds you were by his side, placing a hand on his back to rub, his broad shoulders tensed as he shook his head.
He'd always welcomed your touch, and now he wouldn't even look at you... "Honey what's wrong?" you whispered, afraid of the answer.
Over the years Steve has been your rock, he was calm in a crisis and often grounded you when you needed it, if Steve was known for one thing, it was that he always gets back up again, and as you watched the defeat underlining his eyes it made your stomach churn seeing him like this.
When you saw a single tear roll down his cheek, nothing mattered anymore and you only wanted to comfort him, sitting on his lap, your arms wrapped around his shoulders, and your hands cupped his face against your chest.
As you kissed his temple you felt his whole body relax "I got fired" he croaked, and then silence.
You don't know for how long you stayed like that, you wouldn't let each other go, maybe hoping the rain would wash away your troubles, or maybe just not ready to talk yet.
His big hands traced your back softly as he sniffed, he could feel your skin was freezing cold, that's when he gripped you and finally carried you inside, not stopping until he reached the bathroom.
He thought about making a nice warm bath but before he could, he remembered the water bill, and now that he was out of a job, you'd have to be even more careful with your expenses.
As he turned on the water, you sensed his unease so you started to slowly get him out of his uniform, peppering kisses as more and more skin was exposed, and as he let out a shuddering breath of relief, you gave him a small smile.
After you finished lathering soap on each other and washing your hair, he was about to step out when you held onto his bicep, "Stay", his eyes told you he wanted to indulge you, and you knew he also needed comfort, but he shook his head.
"just for 2 minutes" you encouraged "I won't shower tomorrow" you giggled but only got a subtle smile in return.
As he towered over you again, his hands rested on your back as he embraced you, but when you sighed into his chest, he released you and stepped out of the shower.
turning off the water and wrapping yourself in a towel, you followed behind, but before you could say a word, he was already in his gray sweatpants and sitting on the edge of the bed with his head between his hands.
Taking his hands in yours, his head now rested against your stomach, "we'll be o-"
"Are you happy?" Steve's voice trembled, his eyes shining with the threat of tears as he looked into yours. As you thought of your answer for a second, your hands cupped his face "Not right now" you muttered honestly, he fiscally recoiled but you gripped his face still, begging him to listen to you.
"It's been hard" you exhale "paying off the car, taking care of my mom", now it was your voice that threatened to break, "We wanted to start trying" you lamented and Steve instinctively kissed the inside of your wrist and nodded in response.
"We have to look for the joy" he whispered your mother's words, you smiled and let yourself be wrapped up in his arms, "I've loved you and our marriage every single moment of it," you said into his ear, "as long as we get through it together, we'll be ok".
"I love you" he promised, as he pulled you under the covers, pressed against him, there was nothing more left to say that night, you would talk more in the morning, and as the rain washed away the day, Steve never let go.

Chapter Eleven: Summer Plans
Bruce told a lie about his summer plans. He told his parents he wanted to go to Detroit to attend summer camp, but he’d actually chosen to stay with a young woman that he’d been corresponding with that year. Once his parents gave him the okay to go, he took a plane to Detroit and met with Sandra’s sister, Carolyn at the airport. “Bruce Wayne?” she asked. Bruce nodded as he grabbed his bags. “I’m Carolyn… And I don’t know if Sandra told you, but we’re walking there.”
Bruce laughed as he put his backpack on and rolled his suitcase. “You’re joking,” Bruce smiled. She didn’t laugh with him. “The gym is almost twenty miles from here. I haven’t even eaten yet—.”
“If you complain, you won’t last long with my sister. I’ll tell you that right now,” Carolyn replied. Bruce immediately grew silent as he followed her, dragging his suitcase behind him. He’d grown intrigued with the idea of becoming prepared for every confrontation. It started with the first aid classes, but it wasn’t enough. After a night of studying and watching TV with Harvey, Harvey said something that piqued his interest. Harvey said it’d be cool to learn how to fight. And Bruce couldn’t stop thinking about it. The lie about going to summer camp was the perfect opportunity to make that leap of faith and spend three months training with two of the best fighters in the United States. It wasn’t easy convincing them, though. Bruce carved an official stamp for camp to put on the envelopes, typed up a fake camp application for his parents to sign, and a fake plan stating what cabin he was in. It was an intricate farce, but he couldn’t shake the feeling that he needed to do this. He had to learn how to fight.
Meanwhile, Harvey finally got a spot volunteering for the Juvenile Conference Committee in the Gotham courthouse. It was Harvey’s dream opportunity, and he’d be a member for at least a year. Thomas made Bruce promise not to tell, but he put in a special word for Harvey with someone at the courthouse. They promised Bruce that they’d take care of Harvey while he was gone, and despite Harvey being a few months older than him, he wanted to make sure he was treated like family still in his absence… And he needed to ensure Harvey was there to cover for him if he slipped up.
Harvey wasn’t completely in the loop about Bruce’s activities, but he knew that it wasn’t really a summer camp. And as Bruce lugged his baggage through the Detroit streets, he secretly wished he’d gone to summer camp instead. He wiped the sweat from his brow as he looked over at Carolyn. She hadn’t offered to help him with his bags, but he assumed that was part of his training. He’d risked too much to get there, and he would see it through even if it killed him. And it almost did. He threw up almost as soon as he reached the door to the gym, and he tried to stand up straight, but he swore he was seeing double. In the confusion, he felt four hands instead of two pull his backpack off and help him into the gym’s shower and turn the water on him. He was fuzzy for a lot of it, but he cooled down and Carolyn gave him a change of clothes once he came to his senses. He followed her to an upstairs bedroom, nearly slipping as he listened to the steps on the stairs. They seemed out of sync with his steps and Carolyn’s. He wanted to speak, but he was so tired.
There was a bedroom at the top of the stairs, and they took a left but the footsteps were still out of sync. He could hear his own. He could hear Carolyn’s. But who was behind him? He was a little afraid to look. “You should change and rest,” she stated. It wasn’t a suggestion. Bruce squinted before turning to a completely identical woman.
“You’re twins,” Bruce whispered.
“That’s Sandra. I’m Carolyn… You should change out of those wet clothes and rest. You earned it,” Carolyn smiled.
“He’s stubborn… But we’ll see if he knows how to earn anything,” Sandra replied. Sandra was always dry in her letters, but it only pushed him not to waste her time.
**
Meanwhile, Thomas sat in the room Harvey sometimes slept in while Harvey prepped for his first day at the courthouse. Harvey raced around the room, darting back and forth trying to remember what he’d forgotten. And then, without warning, Harvey plopped down on the edge of the bed and looked down at his feet. “Mr. Wayne, I’ve got a question for you… As a man… I just—. If you think it’s disrespectful, you don’t have to answer,” Harvey whispered.
“Harvey, if you’re gonna ask me man-to-man, you should probably look me in the eye. You’ve gotta stop looking for permission and acceptance if you wanna be a lawyer. You have to enter rooms at the same level if not higher than the people around you. You’re smarter than most grown men that I know, you’re good-looking, you’re funny. Utilize that, and you’ll open doors.
“Now, try asking me that again,” Thomas replied.
Harvey hesitated before looking up at Thomas. “Could I ask you something man-to-man?” Harvey questioned.
“Sure,” Thomas replied.
“How’d you know you liked guys? It seems like it’d be harder to figure that out if you liked girls first… Right?” Harvey asked.
“Who said I liked girls first?” Thomas replied with a smile on his face. “In all seriousness, I think becoming close friends with Alfred opened my eyes to the possibility of love. I went from wanting to just go to parties with him… to wanting to spend all night talking and laughing and… I fell in love with him. It snuck up on me… Why do you ask?”
“No reason. I was just curious. I always thought it’d be something like—. I thought it—.”
“You thought it’d be physical first… Well, not always. Sometimes it could be. Are you sure you’re asking for no reason?” Thomas asked.
Harvey nodded. A lie. He’d been thinking about it for months. Ever since Bruce asked him that hypothetical question about having feelings for each other, it ate at him, making him feel what he could only describe as homesickness for the way things felt before that. In Bruce’s absence, Harvey had time to feel what it’d be like to live without him… And it hurt. Sometimes, he’d wake up at night wanting to climb into Bruce’s bed and talk, and Bruce wouldn’t be there. “Can I ask you something else?” Harvey whispered.
“Mhm,” Thomas answered.
“Is it gonna look stupid if I dress up on my first day?” Harvey asked. Thomas shook his head.
“Dress for the job you want, not the job you have. Just because you’re a volunteer doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to bump elbows with these same people in professional spaces later. I have high hopes for you, Harvey. So, this Saturday I want you to get fitted for a few new suits,” Thomas announced.
“Mr. Wayne, I—.”
Thomas shook his head. “You’re part of this family… And I know that you’ll do great things but a little help won’t hurt. I just want them to see you as you are, so they can remember you later on,” Thomas interrupted. Harvey smiled.
“You guys have changed my life—.”
“No. You changed ours. None of this would be happening if you didn’t make it happen,” Thomas whispered as he patted Harvey on the shoulder and left the room.

my predictions for the bridgerton show and its remaining seasons/bridgerton siblings and their romance stories, the order we will see them all.
all the speculation surrounding who is going to be the next mc in bridgerton s4, and of course i am hoping and wanting it to be benedict. but i do think it actually will be him and not eloise.
yes, eloise’s story comes directly after polin’s, jump started by their engagement. but that is also due to the time jump polin’s story has so that pen and eloise are older and settled into the titles of “spinsters”. in s3 eloise is only in her 2nd season out, and would not be considered a spinster yet for another season or two. and also considering the fact that it would have just been another year (2 in total) since marina and philip got married, so her children would not be that old. in eloise and philip’s story, the children are a big component, and them still being toddlers/babies wouldn’t push the story like it should. (yes they could alter it, but i don’t see that happening).
as for benedict, his story offers the perfect time jump. if he were to meet sophie at the last ball at the end of s3, it would offer the perfect opportunity for a time jump between s3 and s4, perfect for ben to have been searching for his mystery woman during that time (and perfect for philip’s children to grow in time for eloise and his story).
it also brings in the build up we have seen so far for the cowper’s. cressida’s mother’s name is “araminta” and they would not have two characters of the same name, especially one uncommon as araminta (the same name of sophie’s stepmother in the books). and seeing a little more of a glimpse into cressida and her parents, even her father, it makes sense that they could be the ones connected to sophie. not to mention cressida being such a more complicated character than the audience had thought, honestly being a good mixture of rosamund and posy (sophie’s step sisters).
it also wouldn’t quite make sense for eloise to be next to have her romance. she is still young, and we have not seen any build up for her yet (the letters, the mysteriousness that leads to her running away to philip). meanwhile, we have seen constant build up for benedict, especially after his short talk with anthony in s3e1 where he mentions he liked stepping in as viscount to look over the estate while kanthony were in their honeymoon because it gave him purpose and something to do, the exact thing he seeks for in his own story and is delved deeper into then.
people will counter that eloise’s story starts because of polin’s engagement so it’s a direct correlation. and that’s how it was in the books, but i don’t think that’s how it will go in the show. i think her catalyst will be benedict getting married instead. her relationship with ben has shown to be closer and more pronounced than her other siblings, and with her and pen’s relationship still being unsteady and unsure what will happen at the end of s3, it doesn’t quite make sense for it to affect eloise as hugely as it does in the books. i think even polin’s engagement/marriage will spark eloise to start writing letters (i see polin travelling for awhile for their honeymoon, sparking eloise to want to write letters to pen and colin as much as she can, sparking further her writing to philip upon hearing of marina’s death (probably having heard of it before polin does so feeling a sense of responsibility to write to him in their stead)).
having benedict’s story come next will also we a good segway into seeing life outside of society. with eloise, francesca, hyacinth and gregory’s story not set majorily in the eyes of the ton and society, but benedict’s have some of both, being a good start to transitioning the show to that side of this world that has been built.
this way, s4 would still center around benedict and his romance with sophie, most likely after she has run away from her home (so we will probably see the flashbacks to those events throughout the season as it will have been a few years). and it also gives some time to build up eloise’s story more and maybe hearing of marina’s death, etc.
and of course, the remaining seasons will still continue in the order of the books. in s4 (benedict) and s5 (eloise), we will see more of francesca and john, them marrying, being introduced to michael, john’s death, and maybe a little bit of the separation between frannie and michael. which will lead to their story as s6, right after eloise and philip. and hyacinth and gregory will be older (and their actors as well so it won’t be inappropriate for them to have their own adult romance stories told). so for s7 and s8, they will step into their stories with gareth and lucy
you can see i have thought a lot about this and i appreciate anyone who has read this far lmao. but i would love to hear other people’s thoughts as well!!!

We said goodbye to Ru yesterday. Putting this behind a cut.
We got our cats not long after we got married, meaning there was very little time we were a household without the two of them running around. Ru and Jenny were a matched pair, the fosters refused to split them up, and we obliged.
One of the things that drew our attention was his name. The fosters had named him RuPaul, because he was a male calico, and while I'd heard it was tradition to rename your pets once you've adopted them, it was too perfect of a name to change.
He was extremely affectionate and would wake us up in the mornings at first with headbutts and purrs, and while over time he would gravitate towards my wife more (while Jenny would attach herself more to me), and stopped letting me pick him up in favor of only her, he always asked me to brush him and he knew I was the one feeding him so he knew exactly who to divebomb and bother when he got hungry.
He was the most food oriented cat I'd ever met, which was juxtaposed by his sister who very much was not, and he was the least picky cat I'd ever heard of - he'd eat anything and everything, he wouldn't care about medication mixed in his food even if the pharmacy accidentally made it cherry flavored instead of salmon like the vet requested. He was always up for treats and always made it everyone else's problem.
Because he was so food motivated, that was usually our first sign when something was wrong. He never refused food, even last year when his weight suddenly dropped like a stone and we found out the reason the vet kept reporting elevated white blood cell counts even when all the tests kept coming back inconclusive. It ended up being cancer, leukemia with complications that made his intestines have trouble absorbing nutrients. Because my office offers extremely good pet insurance (and I'm going to ring this bell forever, if you have the opportunity, take advantage, it is worth its weight in gold), we were in a position to give him the absolute best treatment available. Originally chemo pills that we were supposed to give him ourselves, then visits to the oncologist about 45 minutes away - he had a full round of chemo last year which was rough on everybody, including him, but it sent the cancer into remission.
It was not without side effects, though. Because of so much manhandling by doctors and the inundation with medication, he stopped being the darling of the vet's office and started requiring sedation. He grew spiteful of checkups and distrustful of any food that smelled wrong. He still ate voraciously, but grew pickier and learned ways to eat around pills and refused to eat any portions of food that had powders or liquids mixed in.
I don't blame him for any of it - I'd feel the same way in his position.
It was after a dental visit earlier this summer that it started. He'd had the rest of his canines pulled due to a condition that the dentist reassured me happened far too commonly in cats, and while his mouth healed beautifully he would only eat small portions of his food at a time. We didn't think too much of it because he would always go back to finish later.
Until he stopped doing going back to finish. Until he stopped eating any of his food at all.
It was several trips to the emergency vet last week that finally resulted in a test that told us the cancer had come back, harder. It was something that would not be treatable and that we should move into quality of life mode - something that might have given us a few more months or even another year, had he been eating. But he wasn't eating. We swapped foods constantly, begged, pleaded, mixed with water and canned tuna and everything else that had worked in the past, but he'd only eat a mouthful at a time and then stare at us, confused.
I had never had a pet before these two - we had a cat when I was very little but my parents gave her away after my brother was born, so I'd never been through this part of pet ownership. My wife had, many times, so I took my cues from her and followed her lead.
We scheduled an appointment with our normal vet. Requested his favorite vet tech, who at this point was assistant manager and usually not involved with day to day, but she agreed without hesitation because they love him so much there.
Yesterday we made him as comfortable as we could. It's harder to do a Best Day Ever for cats, at least in the same way you can for dogs, but we did what we could. We opened fresh cans of tuna and let him nibble as much as he wanted. We let him walk around outside, which he always wanted to do but we never allowed because he refused leash training and we don't have an enclosed yard. We cuddled him and told him how much we loved him, and this continued up through when it was time to take the last car ride to the vet, where we continued to hold him until he was gone.
It was the worst thing I'd ever done. I'm still trying to tell myself it was the right thing to do. I'm not okay and I won't be for a very long time, I don't think.
RuPaul was fifteen years old. We had him for twelve of those years. He was a terror and a bastard and the sweetest boy you'd ever meet. A very small number of people reading this have had the pleasure to know him in person, and a lot more have known him through our stories and pictures shared over the years.
He was so very loved, and we did our best to make sure he knew this all the way through the end.

Just finished The Fall of the House of Usher and wow I have thoughts.
……….
Verna is fascinating!
My interpretation (I have read literally NO Poe so sorry if this is obvious) if that Verna is a personification/demon/something for Choices and Decisions.
When she first meets the Ushers she offers them a choice: here is a possible outcome of the decisions you’ve already made, which might well happen on its own, but would you like to *ensure* that it happens? What would you choose to give up to get what you want? I don’t think she’s *creating* this outcome (as it’s literally what Madeline said would happen while they bricked the CEO into the wall) but she’s saying she can make sure certain possible outcomes are the only ones that happen.
Death and killing might be part of her powers but at least in the case of the Ushers she’s only killing the children because the deal was none of them survive Roderick.
I think her deal with Madeline and Roderick is a mix of be careful what you wish for as you’ll get it in unexpected ways, and exposing their own hypocritical choices. The Ushers believe they are entitled to the company due to their father, that it is their legacy, that if he had only acknowledged them and planned for them to continue the company in their name they would have everything they deserve. But in order to get that legacy, they have to behave in the exact same manner their father did, and think only of themselves while not plan to leave anything for their children.
Verna even offers choices to the other people we see her interact with.
For Perry she reminds him he could choose to stop recoding people, choose not to peruse his brothers wife, choose to end the party. It’s not too late. Even at that party when she tells Morelle to ‘leave now’ it is still a choice, one Morelle doesn’t take which leads to its own consequences. And in the run up to the party we’re shown so many moments when Perry could have chosen differently and the outcome would have been different: having the party at all, inviting Morelle (he turns away and then back to offer her a ticket), Napoleon saying he’s better than this and doesn’t need to become a drug pusher, the building not having water and so choosing to use the assumed water on the roof… right up to the last moment when he chooses to give the signal for the sprinklers to go on.
And her conversation with Perry Verna almost admits it: the series of decisions which lead to him, some small ones, a big one, and then another smaller on and now here he is. Choices he wasn’t involved in have led to him being there that night. And she loves bad boys because they always make all the wrong choices.
For Camille she refuses entry to the lab multiple times and offers her the choice to turn around and go home: it won’t change her fate as she’ll die either way, but if she goes home she’ll die in her sleep instead of being torn apart. She doesn’t *need* to see everything with her own eyes, she already has the proof. But Camille chooses to revel in her sisters shame, to twist the knife, and so she dies painfully.
And Napoleon is told the cat he wants to buy isn’t for sale and to choose to go back home to his boyfriend (and likely confess his actions) but he pushes through with his money and demands that he should get what he wants. He even has a moment within his confrontation with the cat when he thinks this might be a drugged hallucination, but instead of stopping or calling his boyfriend he continues to destroy their home.
Victorine also gets choices: the file of perfect patient data is handed to her but she doesn’t have to call Verna back about the human trial. Verna asks at multiple points if this procedure is safe, if the surgeon has agreed, even if her patient data is safe in this clinic. And Victorine chooses to lie at every opportunity, chooses to sacrifice this woman’s life in the pursuit of her dream. And so she is haunted by her lies, driving her to a more gruesome death than necessary.
For Tammy Verna shows her how to make better choices from their first meeting: we only saw one other sex worker play out the fantasy scene pretending to be Tammy but their interactions with Bill were surface level. When Verna appears as Candy she plays fake-Tammy as caring about Bill, showing Real-Tammy how she could be a better partner from the get go. Verna compliments his cooking, says she’d been craving his ‘famous chicken Alfredo’, asks about his work earnestly and listens to his replies. Even later, when she is Tammys hallucination double, she keeps showing Tammy how she could choose differently: Bill would probably set your fight aside considering another sibling has died, you could call him? Bill would probably be concerned about your health, you could apologise? And after her breakdown Verna pretends to answer Bills call (which Tammy had thrown across the room) and apologises to him for how he’d been treated. The whole time Verna is telling Tammy ‘it’s not too late, you could choose to be kind, you could choose to make yourself happy’: like Camille it wont stop her inevitable death but it could have been easier. And again she didn’t have to die in this manner, she could have gone in her sleep but her chosen treatment of Bill and her own guilt over her decisions has been keeping her awake.
For Frederick, Verna even admits that she has chosen his manner of death *due* to the choices he made: he would have died in his car from a heart attack but he chose to take his wife home, chose to torture her, ‘chose to pick up the pliers’ and so here are the consequences of his decisions.
For Lenore, the only innocent in the whole family, Verna wants her to know that her *choice* to give a statement, her choice to break with her family and get her mother out, will have lasting consequences. That Lenore’s decision will have changed the world.
That Verna’s power focuses on choices is further emphasised with her knowledge of ‘what people would have been’ as I think that’s an expansion upon what different choices would have led to. Of people had chosen differently then this is what they would have become.
And in Verna’s interactions with Pym all of the moments she references are ones where choices are made: the choice to leave a man in the desert, to abandon a guide in the snow, to assault a woman in the arctic. Moments when a choice or decision was made.
So I think she is a bargainer, or demon of decisions, and while she isn’t inherently evil she has her own morality as seen when she chooses deaths which are painful or peaceful, depending on a persons actions.
And really the message of the whole show is choices and their consequences.
