And now for something completely different... . 1930s #Gibson 7 string # spotted at @thetwelfthfret #Toronto. I think it is an #EH150 from 1936 or early '37 based on the lack of headstock inlay (models before mid-1937 had no headstock inlay), the unbound pickup (which corroborates the prior to mid-1937 date) and the bridge design (which was used beginning in early 1936). I have always wanted to get into lapsteel and I think these early Gibsons are so beautiful . Last week Saturday, June 30, Malama Pupukea-Waimea started their Native Hawaiian Plant Coastal Restoration Project which involved removing invasive vegetation and replacing them with native plants. These efforts help improve the health of coral in the area by reducing erosion and sedimentation. It’s Robo-tastic! Earlier this month Mckinley High School FIRST Robotics Team #368 earned a wild card spot at the FIRST Robotics World Championships in Houston, as part of the Finalist teams in the Galileo Subdivision. To help fund the team’s travel, Enrique Che, Hawaiian Electric’s field service manager, presented a $5,000 donation to Team Captain Ariel Thepsenavong and Team Advisor Milton Lau. We are preparing to open the first phase of the Community-Based Renewable Energy (CBRE) program next week on July 11 for applications by qualified subscriber organizations that wish to build and operate a community solar facility. As approved for implementation by the Public Utilities Commission, the program will provide the benefits of solar energy to residential and commercial customers without access to privately-owned rooftop solar, including many renters and apartment dwellers. The first phase of CBRE aims to bring online a total of 8 megawatts of solar, equivalent to a small grid-scale array, in the Hawaiian Electric, Maui Electric and Hawaii Electric Light service territories.
