Finney liking somebody/finding someone attractive is usually a dead-end deal. He keeps it to himself - buried deep down within the depths of his gentle soul, never to breach the light of day, because he knows good and well that even if it did arise, all it would lead to is rejection and - if he's extra unlucky - a teasing+beat-down combo attack from some known bullies of his (should they find out or be witness to these nonexistent attempts of confession).

A little depressing, I know, but bffr ... if you were Finney, would you do anything different🤨?

Althoughhhh....

Him having a crush on you, specifically, is very,,, confusing. Think of when you have a crush in real life, but you actually have a little bit more of a chance with them than usual. It's realistic. There's a sliver of hope. A light down in the depths of that depressing darkness.

It's like that.

And dare I say, he's fairly obvious about his liking towards you, but only if you're paying close attention.

If you're in a totally different clique, especially a popular one, just kind of in your own little bubble (which might as well be a whole new world to him), then the chances of you noticing/realizing his infatuation with you is very slim. Even in Finney's own case, he'd view you way out of his league, no chance whatsoever, so don't expect him to make any moves of any kind.

And on top of that (as I mentioned first thing), he'd do his damn best to not let ANYONE find out, ESPECIALLY Robin, Gwen, or Bruce, because the last thing he wants is for them to get overconfident on his behalf and try to set y'all up. What if you reject him?

Or worse, what if you end up liking Robin or Bruce instead of him? He wouldn't be able to take it. And lord knows he keeps his crush hidden from his bullies for highly good reasons. An even worse scenario in his mind than the last one is if they publicly teased him (or the both of you) about it, made a mockery of his feelings for you to witness and either join in or pity him - neither an outcome his ego and self-esteem were built to handle.

Now, the opposite - actually knowing him and/or being his friend - the case would probably still remain the same with only slight differences. He'd still find you out of his league, probably wouldn't make any bold moves. But, being his friend, closer to you, a little more comfortable around you, there may be times where he'd make the SLIGHTEST of nods to MAYBE, POSSIBLY liking you in a romantic fashion. JUST A LITTLE BIT.

BUT, he'd also be so worried and absorbed in his own head about all the different little things - am I impressing her? am I making her uncomfy? Does she already know? Does she not know and thinks I'm weird? Did she already think I was weird before I did that thing? Did she even catch onto that thing I did? Is she ignoring it? Is she ignoring me? Oh my god, she fucking hates me - that he lowkey wouldn't even consider the fact that you've been making more obvious moves on him this whole time.

He would probably end up liking you because of something you said or did. Like, depending on the situation, you said/did something that really resonated with him, or he found himself thinking about a lot. Which would then lead to him thinking about you a lot, and it's a spiral from there. Or, if already friends, it's probably something you did/said that had him now seeing you a new/different light, which, again, spirals from there.

Should anyone that's not you uncover the feelings he harbors, he's so the type to deny it. Gwen could be studying your behavior and body language up and down, and then report back to Finney with WRITTEN, PICTURE, PHYSICAL FUCKING EVIDENCE of you liking him/reciprocating the crush, and Finney would just be like, "...Nahhhh, you're just delusional, she wouldn't even notice if I disappeared the next day." And Gwen would just be like, "This bitch here😐..."

Either way tho, what I meant way earlier by "confusing" is that his version of (just barely) letting you know he likes you romantically is him just being,,, himself/friendly but a little bit more than usual LMFAO. Like, if y'all are friends and he always walked you to and from school, what he would do to further insinuate that he 💙likes💙 you is to just,,, walk you everywhere else🥴💀. Essentially be your moral support wherever you go lmfao.

Or like, besides doing stuff he really doesn't need to do that confuses you, he'd do things that kinda give the OPPOSITE of, "I'm literally in love with you." Avoid/not talk to you, avoid eye contact, stuff that just leaves you like, "...I don't think he wants to be my friend anymore🥲💔." LIKE BOY-!😭

But it's not intentional. It's just his nerves and doubts getting the better of him, y'know? Overthinkin, which leads to overreacting, etcetc., you know how it goes/what that's like lol.

So yeah, basic point, if the feelings aren't already made VERY CLEAR from the jump, don't expect things to get any clearer😻.

BUT, if after a while should he either gain a little more confidence (prolly from Robin) or you grow a pair and make the first bold move yourself (which would confirm it for him to be more comfy getting bolder himself as well), I feel like he'd still remain a little shy and mildly confusing, but very berry cute nonetheless.

I'm telling you, he'd put those crafting skills to work, hon👏🏽!! Just any chance he gets/has to either make you something or just impress you with something he's made, he's putting 1000% percent into it. He'd hand it to you in person, apologize for the length of the letter that YOU HAVEN'T EVEN OPENED YET😭, and then practically teleport from the scene because he doesn't even wanna stay for your reaction. The fear of rejection is genuinely too much for him.

He'd be better off never hearing from you again if you didn't like him back rather than have you tell him to his face. ALSO, he'd give it to you in private. Wouldn't want to put you or himself on the spot, nor would he want to risk somebody catching him or you with the paper that has him pouring his heart out to you on it.

But, of course (because why else would you be reading this if you weren't expecting The Good Ending™), you're confused while opening and reading it until those feelings gradually begin to swell into a mixture of flatter, adoration, and just flat out love because not only had he FINALLY confessed to you...

Dear Diary, 

10.29.24- The beauty of knowing while yet feeling he’s not done with me yet!

In this season of life, It feels like an ending while yet a beginning. 

Like the ending of the resetting, and beginning of the setting. To know there is yet so much more to the story,and the final edits are being placed on this chapter, and the actress is about ready to take the stage of the new season of life. This little butterfly 🦋 is ready to leave the cocoon. My 30s have been a complete reset in many ways, I have been taken back to my teens and twenties. I have had many in-breaking from God. And as I get closer to ending my 30s I’m super excited for my 40s and what they will bring. All while I am super duper excited about Chapters 38 & 39 of my thirties. I’m ending the 30s with clarity, understanding,  and a solid anchored relationship with God. With maturity, growth, deeper love, wisdom, and knowledge, changes, healing and forward movement. 

And now I am standing 100 days from Chapter 38 and it's time to shift gears and seasons. 

Heading into hibernation season. I haven’t had a hibernation season in quite some time. Last time I had one was Fall/Winter 2022. So I am long overdue and I can tell it sooooo very much. Hibernation will consist for me a number of things, from break from my personal media, eating better even with the Holiday Season, leaning into my relationship with God, some fasting and praying, Seeking God about my goals, aspirations, budgeting, self care, physical fitness, taking better of my body, filling my cup. I will be reading more, and I plan to get back to my Youtube, I want to share my 1st vlog since 2020, on my vlogs anniversary date. I also want to do Vlogmas, I plan to write in my online diary more as well and I plan to get back to the things that bring me joy such as offline journaling. I will be enjoying Pinterest. It's one of my fav forms of  creativity. 

I know this is just what I need to end well in this chapter and season of life. I am excited and anticipating that what God is going to do is going to be amazing, I do know it may come with some major pressure and that I may have little frustrations however when I keep my face bowed down to God, and my head in his chest, my ears open for him, my heart guarded from myself and the world and in his hands, my mind stayed on him, that i am able to push through the moments. Let the Ride Begin, Let the Journey commence, Hibernation season, I am looking forward to this time!

SO I SUPPOSE MANY OF YOU HAVE HEARD OF A THING CALLED “BATTERIES”!

If not, worry not. Batteries are a handy little thing. They uhm, they can power stuff. It’s like they’re little power containers. You know. There’s stuff in them and that makes things run.

So as a pirate captain I do in fact have a magnificent ship, however, with a crew of only shadow friends, it is sometimes difficult to /get/ somewhere because they sadly don’t know how to use a ship! And I as the captain have to fulfill my important captain duties. So, how do I power my boa- my ship? I use amazing batteries! The good old Deadzzone reaches high speeds through them that would usually be unattainable!

But here is what I want to discuss today. If a battery like this can power a whole ship of fearsome pirates, what could it do to the pirate THEMSELVES? To test this, I have been biting into different types of batteries for a while, observing the effects it has on my body. These batteries have been sourced from all kinds of places! Jade batteries, batteries I stole from Rata Sum, batteries I stole from the Inquest…

What I observed is the following:

Blue means yummy. Yellow means sour, and kind of dishwashery. Green is pretty good but my favoruite is when they’re orange, that's very fruity and sometimes with a bit of spice. Red is alright but those from the Inquest that operate mainly in Brisbane are not so good. Also a bit spicy though, which I like.

Now as you can see I am quite the fearsome little guy. Big guy, I mean. Quite powerful aswell. I now have the ability to stay up much longer than I used to, sailing the seas for about 69 hours on good days.

I am also now able to see colours the usual eye can observe. Hey! [They point at Soft Sheep] Love the horns. A lovely shade of vibrant shnorkle.

One time I was bitten by a stinky charr, and he began to change colour. Very interesting, it seems I have become poisonous! Super duper sick. My blood has been a lot more glowy aswell. It’s still green, like everyone else’s, just more vibrant. And so is my- uh. Other bodily fluids have changed colour aswell!

Well, what is the conclusion? Batteries power machines and gadgets, but also people. They make you super strong. So powerful. So cool. Eat them!

because this was a real tricky one! i didn’t think it was going to be this tricky! but i restarted the bourbon shots section multiple times, man. i think i lost like 3-4k words total? there’s a whole different version of the scene where jimmy *does* go into the hotel and meets her there (r.i.p. to some insane lobby and ballroom description)

i also wrote kind of a rough kim POV half-page thing to try to help me figure out where her head’s at and what she might’ve been talking about with everyone at the mixer.

and on writing that from kim’s point of view it became very clear to me that kim in that moment, seeing jimmy walk in, after tipsily calling him? kim is like. oh no. oh god no. i really did that and he’s here. he really came. fuck.

and having this reaction happen in a public place after jimmy’s just had his own emo moment walking through a loud happy ballroom? because (bobby voice) there’s no way jimmy wouldn’t see that in her eyes. it absolutely fucked the chapter up. i knew i wanted them to be soft and jokey with each other at least a little bit, and i just could not get the train back over to those tracks.

i’m much happier with what i ended up with. i always had a vague image of him picking her up in a strange parking garage anyway, so i leaned into that! and i managed to get all the beats i really wanted by dragging people out there to join them.

but on to the bed/coffee stuff!

“My fingers called you.” And she digs the knee harder into his side, adding: “Your fault for having the same phone number for ten years, asshole.”

kim calling jimmy’s apartment landline, not his cellphone, because her just like... beep-boop-boop through the keys. and if she had to stop and consciously bring up a number of look through her contacts maybe she wouldn’t have called him.

“Whatever,” she says eventually, laughter subsiding. “Some people see pink elephants, I see Jimmy McGills.”

He can feel the butterflies moving on the fabric beneath his palm.

this is so harsh. i don’t know. i hope people can understand why it slips out. it’s always tough when like... god, there’s so much going into this for kim, but how much would she ever say to jimmy? and how much could he even know? because s1 jimmy definitely has the wrong end of the stick about some stuff (“if i take this job today at davis & main, is this gonna happen?”)

this one shot has some of the seeds for it, though. i think kim finds it really hard to look at jimmy these days. he’s like... he’s out here killing himself to get a single case and doing everything he can to work as a lawyer and she’s not blind, she knows some of that is because of *her*.

and kim doesn’t sit well in messy emotions and it feels like jimmy is pulling away and he doesn’t want to talk about what’s going on and his family so she just. stops looking for a while because it’s uncomfy anyway.

and THEN through all that kim is struggling at HHM too, on a treadmill going nowhere, and she thinks that jimmy didn’t even do it for *her* anyway, he did it for this other kim he sees with his dumb puppy eyes. the super duper successful kim.

so it ALSO hurts to look at him because he’s a reminder of all of THAT too, and how she’s not where she thought she’d be either, not working the kind of cases she thought she would be.

anyway kim doesn’t really tell jimmy any of that and i also think it would be strange for jimmy to *know* it right now. but there you go. i DO think he’s starting to realise that kim maybe isn’t happy at HHM, and they don’t treat her right. the seeds for our first office proposal.

and then drunk kim in particular can’t/won’t articulate any of that now, so she just tries to soften it with actions. kim going physical.

Jimmy wakes at five thirty. It’s still almost dark outside, the yellow warmth of the streetlamps barely edged with the blue of the approaching dawn.

always makes me think of kim giving her summation to the bar committee.

He should tell her. He should say something out loud to someone, for once. He shouldn’t leave without letting her know the truth.

parallels with that rebecca scene from canon. i think it’s been sitting uncomfortably in his subconscious.

And Jimmy quietens. “No lights, no heating, no fridge. And if I don’t bring him ice for the cooler every day, all his food is gonna go bad, and then he’s gonna get worse again, so…”

Her lips fold inward. Worried or judgmental or something else.

and then i think/hope this morning scene like... to me, this is the moment that gives us our soft early s1 scenes. kim calling him for a movie date. the toenail painting.

i think hearing all this jolts kim out of that, like... stasis of letting the relationship drift apart & not looking at it, etc etc.

suddenly, oh, there’s THIS. oh he’s doing this *every day*. there’s this whole other thing that’s going on that’s not about her or them or even himself, really, and that’s what’s been taking over his brain and his life.

i don’t want to say she was being selfish but i think it’s fun if kim is a little bit selfish (as a treat) and i think this breaks that bubble of selfishness. she can call him! she can hang out with him! he’s got all this shit going on and here she’s been, not looking at the puppy eyes because they hurt her, not picking up the phone.

so i think kim starts making a concerted effort to arrange soft we-can-sit-and-laugh-as-friends moments just to give jimmy’s day something else in it.

Impossibly, he can already smell it, the coffee.

this is, like, nothing, but he smells the breakroom coffee before he goes in the breakroom in chapter 1 of acb. so that’s what this is.

But Jimmy shakes his head. He checks his watch again. He almost has time. “I’ll drink it quick,” he says.

if only he had some kind of... i dont know... mug inside which coffee could travel...

Near his wrist, on the counter, is the Post-It from last night. Still there. The little stick-figure Kim looks up at him optimistically.

and i sure hope this chapter works even if you dont remember this from 350k words and two years of fanfiction journey ago!

okay so this new song that came out ALSO came out around the same time the new chap did, and ever since i have been frothing at the mouth about danny. it's kind of short so im spitting half the lyrics at you here but-

(Danny's what we call POMI, as I'm sure you know (physically out, mentally in if anyone doesn't) and well. in my experience and what I've seen from others, people dig in HARD when violently removed from their belief system, no matter how much said system was hurting them. so, again, the arrogance thing. these people don't understand, and how can they? that's the whole point.)

i didn't know the term POMI, thank you for teaching me! i'm going to be looking more into cult survivor stuff now that i'm finally able to bring him in, for sure. ren had done soooo much research and of course i played sounding board for them, but i need to bulk up on that knowledge, too! it's always so moving to get feedback from people within an experience we're trying to portray respectfully, i can't tell you how much it means to us both (namely ren, in this case, because they set all the groundwork for our danny first!) and i can't thank you enough!

i can only hope that where i take him in PBR comes across the way i want it to, especially since i'm intentionally skewing his development in almost an opposite direction to his narrative trajectory in HLM! it might be more uncomfortable in some places purely by nature of HOW they extracted him from his situation, the information that he doesn't have, the agency that was taken from him "for his own good" (which we all know Virtually No One responds well to, even without all this extra incentive to resist.) that said, i am so looking forward to his recovery arc. healing is imperative, and love is always possible.

i hope you stick around long enough to see where he ends up!

in the woods in the morning his favorite place to be it’s so calm and if he’s up for a hunt in the morning he’ll do that. he doesn’t really have a whole lot to his morning routine the basics like getting dressed and eating breakfast of course but he really just loves to walk before.

Rook is one to be very impatient he’s actually extremely patient mainly because Vil trained him that way because of their routines that they have to go through to get ready for the day or any skin care and that takes a lot of time.

No go! Kids are so scared of him but once or twice a kid hasn’t been scared and after that they realize that he’s not a bad person but since majority of kids find him unpleasant he doesn’t want them. He’s generally super Duper nice to them though.

his favorite kind of hug is a side arm hugs. If you’re really close to him he might give you a real big hug similar to Floyd except he doesn’t crush you.

Spa days are very common occurrence being friends with him. “ I guess you can sit with us”. He’s very mid when it comes to your relationship because yes he may say oh darling you look beautiful or he might say I look 1000 times better than you.

as we all know he usually runs in the morning alongside Jack, probably has his smoothie for breakfast and doesn’t actually eat anything. The majority of his time is actually spent getting ready and making sure that everyone else is ready for the day. There’s not a whole Lotta time in there for you and him to hang out or talk in the morning.

he is generally quite patient but if you push him even slightly he’s going to get extremely irritated. He can handle a long time that it takes to do a skin care to sometimes but when he’s waiting on other people he gets so annoyed.

This man has a career okay. I’m sorry but with the job and way he is right now he won’t have kids till around 30 maybe.

he likes to put his chin on your head if possible, he doesn’t like hugs that really involve his face being too close to yours or touching something. his chin of course is fine and the reason for this is simply because he wears make up and he doesn’t want to ruin it.

he’s a bit warmer to you than when he would normally be. He comes over a lot to help you study and of course for him to study as well. I’m not going to lie his favorite game or thing to do is play magift mainly because the puck that you are throwing around with magic kind of looks like a frisbee I think you know where this is going (just gonna stop right there).

running his favorite thing to do in the morning is run he runs 3 miles! If you to live together or he stays the night at your dorm, He will be back home before you wake up he’ll make sure he leaves extra early if you’re an early riser so that way when he comes home he can make you breakfast, when you wake up. If you’re not an early riser he’ll come to you, wake you up and give you breakfast in bed. He only leaves for classes or work after he make sure that you are awake and you’re not going to fall back asleep. Gives gives you a forehead kiss and a hug if you guys are in a relationship right before he leaves.

P

Jack is usually quite patient. But it also depends on the situation because he will not put up with quite a lot of things three instance....Leona. Do you only way that he would ever be upset at you in anyway is if you start it and you are preventing him from doing his best at something or you made fun of or said some thing that really hurt his feelings.

he loves the idea of kids. He won’t want to huge family but maybe a couple of pups and yes that was indeed a wolf pun. One or two at most four kids. If you do have kids to one boy, one girl he thinks that’s perfect. He’s a gentle and loving father and he will play hide and seek and games with them until he’s old and cannot walk. he has so much energy and would hang out with his kids all the freaking time. Not because he’s wolf and the whole pack/family thing, but because he has siblings and he needs the energy in the house or it doesn’t feel like home. Moral of the story if you’re going to be with him he’s gonna want kids.

H

if you’re not very close with him he’s not gonna hug you he’ll give you a head pat but that’s it. If you’re a lot closer to him he’s rather shy about it not that he doesn’t want everyone to know that you’re in a relationship but he’s not that into PDA. Back on topic his hugs are either if your standing your head into his chest if you’re laying down or sitting it’s his head in your chest for some reason he goes crazy over it.

My question today is about writing: I'm sure you've answered and rb'ed a ton of stuff about writing/writing advice etc...do you keep it on a particular tag/have any key words I can search by? I know this website can be a joke (hell, I can't even find the post about writing I rb'ed for MYSELF) but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask x

(I've got an idea that deserves to be longer than the >1k garbage I normally write...but I literally cannot get past the initial "oh this is a good idea" stage. If you don't have any advice up at the moment, any suggestions for gettin the ol' process started?)

Teesha, my darling! It's so good to see you 😊 I hope life's been treating you well! Ooohhh I'm so happy you've got a fic idea you're excited about!! That's such a great feeling <3 I'm afraid I don't tend to reblog lots of writing advice myself (I know myself too well - I can reblog that stuff all I want but when it comes down to it, I usually end up just winging it and forgetting all the advice I've read lol) and I just tried searching my 'my writing' tag, but it's too general to give me specific results of posts where I've talked about my own writing process 😅 So I'm afraid I can't really help you with that...

As for off the cuff writing advice, what really works for me is to start by making a general outline (and if it's a longer fic, to kind of roughly sort it into several parts/chapters), and to then write the fic/each part in a sort of rudimentary, stream-of-consciousness kind of way. So kind of like "and then bucky goes to the flower shop but steve isn't there today so he's super sad but he tells himself he'll come back tomorrow and he'll wear his black skinny jeans then and blow steve's socks clean off because his ass looks amazing in those and then bucky goes home and feeds alpine and watches a show about WWII and thinks about steve and calls nat to complain about his day before he falls asleep"

It's not pretty lol, but at least that way you can easily circumvent the potential tricky bits that might make you get stuck and stop writing the fic altogether, because you can easily just be like "and then a bit where bucky figures out how to tell steve how he feels" and then deal with those bits later, once you've gotten most of the fic down already! I guarantee it'll be easier to do it at that stage than at the point where you're still trying to figure out what your story should look like, if that makes sense.

And then once you've written the super-duper rough draft, you can start expanding and tidying up and making a three sentence ramble into a three page part - still a lot of work, but easier because you know where you're going! This method doesn't work for everyone I'm sure, but it works for me, so maybe you might find it useful too? I hope so! Good luck with writing, darling, you got this!! 💪🏻😘
