Birthdaversary

Scott & Katie came down for Scott's 50th / our 12th anniversary. Birthday boy did not want to celebrate, but Katie convinced him that a trip to LA is not really a celebration. (She is not wrong, but we did do some cool stuff with cool people - Emily, Dave, Kate.)

Dinner at Simply Thai, now Thai on Hillhurst, which we never get anymore because they don't deliver this far. The new name and new paint job have not impacted the quality, yum.

The Haunted Hayride, but I sat out the haunted houses since last year, between the fog and the jump scares, my voice was not happy. I instead documented lights and loneliness, happily toasty warm in Emily's borrowed coat.

The Broad, requested by BB. (Afterward, Katie and I admitted to each other that we secretly hate museums. Turns out Katie is actually not very secret about it.)

Scott & Katie had to leave Sunday, but we had lunch w/Migley, Eric, et al at Ozzy's Apizza, which is off of Arden Ave (!) in Glendale, tucked between what appears to be two medical offices. Cute patio, strange location, good pizza!

Two boys were killed at hayrides this month, offering a warning to parents about the potential dangers of the popular fall activity ahead of Halloween. 

Samuel "Sam" Jessen, 12, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, was run over by a tractor on Oct. 12 along the Haunted Hilltop hayride route in Chattanooga, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. 

Jessen hid in the bushes with his friends and tried to jump onto the trailer behind the tractor to scare its riders. He slipped and fell underneath the wheels. Police said he was found unresponsive.

I love that haunted houses are popular bc they're fun but there NEEDS to be more that are ride-throughs instead of walk throughs. I have a freeze response 😭😭
