in my dreams
the cheerleaders are stacking themselves again i try to count them but there are not enough numbers red skirts swing back and forth the pleats ajar i peek at firm thighs the girls move fast with gleaming smiles the first row drops to their hands and knees unfurling across the infinite soccer field the next row climbs onto their shoulders then the next row and the next row and the next within one…

Assassinaut (2019)
My rating: 3/10
To call this movie half-baked would be too kind - it's basically raw, more of a loose pile of tropes and concepts than anything else, and apparently motivated entirely by a spiteful desire to Subvert Expectations (TM). This it tries to accomplish by repeatedly setting up a plot thread and then abruptly cutting it off by having something horrifically, pointlessly violent happen instead. This, of course, is neither clever nor entertaining, and it made this one hell of a slog.

Jedi master Haskal Zeloth and his Padawan, Ninel :)
I put them in 327th Star Corps colours because I thought they looked nice on them and I haven't come up with a homebrew clone corps for them just yet, but I do want to at some stage.
This is also the first time I've properly drawn Ninel's master despite having her as a character in my head for seven years lol.
Haskal is the closest thing to a parental figure Ninel ever had, he took certian parts of the Jedi code very seriously however, and so despite this their relationship was somewhat distant. He was a patient and kindly master though, and he took Ninel on just as she and almost everyone else were certain she was destined for the agricultural corps.

💔Least favorite ship for the muse?
i think out of all the pairings with him, i'll say the most least favorite that came to mind which is Nicholas/Angelique
i got a separate ask regarding the both of them so i will save a lot of my ramblings for when i reply to that one! but i'll keep this one a bit more brief for now.
i have expressed this privately already, but i view nicholas and angeliques relationship as disastrous siblings. i am aware that nicholas being her brother is merely a ruse ( which i will also discuss more in the other reply ) - but even with that being said i enjoy viewing their dynamic from a #worst sibling ever lens
i may been influenced by not so lovely fics i have read on this pairing as well, most often ending up abusive on nicholas' part toward angelique ... which doesn't really sell the ship for me. i do understand the appeal that people have towards them in a romantic sense, as for me i view their relationship in a more nuanced way than that!
my secondary choice - which may come as a surprise to some people maybe considering how passionate i am about them - is Maggie/Nicholas
don't get me wrong, there is no doubt in my mind that nicholas would treat her like a queen and she could do no wrong in his eyes, it is already canonly established that he treats her with upmost love, tenderness and devotion. and his feelings for her are sincere, the closest he has ever been to sincerity. but even with that being said, i cannot see them together as an actual couple. for multiple reasons, none of which has to do with nicholas feelings or how he'd act in a relationship with her. nope! his devotion to maggie is unquestionable.
a very glaring reason would be the fact, simply put, that nicholas butted into maggie & joes pre-existing relationship together and sabotaged the both of them. he inflicted a lot of suffering onto joe in particular, not only to get him out of the picture but to appear like a compassionate shoulder to cry on for maggie. it is very much on purpose, because joe is a good man, and nicholas wanted to appear the same way to attempt to win over maggie.
another reason, which is probably the biggest factor of all, is that maggies heart belongs to joe. that is not to say that she doesn't have any feelings for nicholas, i do believe she does even in spite of the fact nicholas set it up that way, however her feelings for him really pale in comparison to her absolute love of joe haskall. he is truly the love of her life! and he was with her long before nicholas entered into the picture.
maybe in an AU scenario it'd be interesting, although i don't really have much interest to explore that personally. i have said this many times privately, but i think nicholas as a character would benefit greater by accepting he cannot be with her.
i do feel that he will always love her though, no matter whether he can be with her or not. it'll be difficult for him. but for the sake of progressing his character forward and allowing character growth, he needs it. his character circles around maggie whereas i think she was a good catalyst for his character vs revolving around her.

i hope they are not going the haskalls road
I think they are closer than that, could be getting her rings resized or cleaned and maybe she put two on in their place

i also really appreciate that revenge for him doesn't just involve killing the man who has ultimately wronged him. no kaz wants to destroy that man's life. and i live for it. he knows very well killing per haskal won't do anything, but becoming better than him gives him leverage. it gives him opportunity. it gives him power. and for a boy who has felt so utterly powerless for so much of his life, that is everything. killing him doesn't gain any of that. it's just one less bad person in the world
One thing I love about Kaz as a character is just the simple fact that he gets his revenge in the end. A lot of characters in literature seek revenge and just when theyre about to get it, they decide to be ‘the bigger person’ and this is admirable, sure, but the thing about Kaz is that he doesn’t. He gets his vengeance, he literally spends half of his life fighting to get even, and he succeeds. I always get chills when I read the chapter where he crawls out of the harbor. The line, “He’d simply let himself drown, and that wasn’t possible anymore. He had to live. Someone had to pay.” STILL gets me. Nobody is doing it like him. (I also love that it’s made clear that while his desire for revenge is justified, it’s his biggest weakness too, but that’s another post for another day.)

Hero's Journey
every day around 3 pm the thought of dinner wrings my neck. what’s for dinner. what’s for dinner. what’s for dinner what’s for dinner what’sfordinner. i dream of myself lounging topless on an italian beach. in another dream i am held by someone who loves me so much they could shake me like a tambourine. i don’t need dinner in my dreams. lately i’ve been making a list of things that are impossible…

I wonder who anyone else would be in addendum to Hunter & Willow. Luz & Amity line up pretty well with Jesper & Wylan, and a younger Eda & Raine could work as Kaz & Nina. Odalia would obviously be Van Eck and Brum would be Belos. I just wonder about characters such as Nikolai and Haskall.
I feel like the subject matters in Six of Crows are overall a little too heavy for the toh characters so I wouldn't do like. An outright copy-and-paste AU where the story and the universe and background are all exactly the same. If I were to do anything it'd be an AU inspired by Six of Crows, with the characters having similar arcs to their counterparts. So we just cherry pick what aspects of the book we want to keep.
It wouldn't exist in the Grishaverse. It's still the Demon Realm. They are still witches.
I could absolutely see Eda fulfilling the role of Haskall in this case but also she has entirely different reasons for doing the things she does. Haskall had different motivations for running the dregs, most of which being business motivated. Eda is simply chaotic and would absolutely just adopt a whole bunch of fucked up kids and form a criminal gang found family.
I feel like Eda and Raine absolutely could have had a story that resembled Kaz and Inej when they were younger. The tension between them being Eda's Owl Beast form rather than Kaz's trauma induced emotional barriers. It was just as passionate, just as full of longing, but it still ended tragically. Like Kaz staying in the Barrell and Inej becoming a captain of her own ship, Raine also left Bonesborough to work towards the rebellion. Now its just a matter of the two meeting again 👀
Luz and Amity as Jesper and Wylan??? Hello???? HELLO?????? These respective stories and characters align so perfectly I am literally about to combust. Amity being a rich girl who's just never been good enough and Odalia's solution to that is to fucking KILL HER?? Her becoming a run away and eventually being a key role to tearing her Mom's whole fucking world apart. Brainy and blushy and feral. Yes fantastic.
It's actually one parallel between Luz and Jesper that's killing me. The generational trauma mostly. Also both kids leaving home with the promise to "improve" themselves, only to end up in an entirely different "world" and lying to their parent about it. The parent loving their kid so much but also being so flawed, very much effected by the death of their spouse. Oh I'm gonna lose it.
And yeah okay Hunlow as Nina and Matthias obviously.
Okay okay okay okay so stay with me here. I miss Gus...where is Gus....I would like Gus. So here me out.
While Eda and Raine probably had the spirit of Kaz and Inej's story, once Eda grows older and becomes the Haskall, Matt and Gus become the placeholders for the roles in this new generation of delinquents.
Because like....Mattholomule Lastnameomule: The Bastard of Bonesborough. Tell me that's not the funniest shit ever? Tell me you don't want to see this tiny ugly little man literally terrorizing the whole fucking town. He is 3ft tall and he killed a man this morning. That's hilarious.
Meanwhile Gus is the Inej in the sense that he's tiny, speedy and slippery. While Inej was considered lethal with her knives, you don't want to fuck around with Gus, the kid who summons images so horrific he melts your brain. Inej was called the Wraith and Gus is called the Phantom.
Matty is the one "in charge" of the six of them (somehow?? Idk who voted for him?? Maybe Eda just picked up cuz he bites the hardest.) and Gus is definitely the one he's closest to. He and Gus be having all that marriage squabbling and mutual understanding that Kaz and Inej had.
The whole gang calls themselves the Owls <3
#rip steve#(oh i forgot to talk about nikolai. yeah i dont care about s&b characters much so he is nothing to me.)

Tonight then from the series Cannon - Blood Money (S03E20) from 1974. Cast: William Conrad as Frank Cannon Peter Haskell as Tom Brannon Perry King as Dr. Stephen Danver Russell Johnson as DA John Romano Diana Muldaur as Ava Brannigan John Milford as Leroy Vincent Kathleen Miller as Julie Danver William (Bill) Joyce as E.T. Brannigan and many more
Story: A young doctor arrives at a prison to examine a prisoner. During the examination the prisoner reaches into the doctor's bag and removes a pistol. Cannon is hired to prove the doctor was an unwitting participant in the attempted jailbreak. (from IMDB again) Speaking of tv baddies, such as the legendary Jack Cassidy, Peter Haskall had his fair share of nasty moments. Here he's the best of worst playing a cad (in a three piece suit) who is after a fortune in missing money that turns out to be sequestered coins. The plot is quite similar to a MANNIX story as there are a lot of twists and turns and a good shootout as Cannon goes up against a sniper (wearing thick glasses!) on a hill. The beautiful Diana Muldaur, who appeared in just about every crime show on tv, is on Cannon's side, caught in between the mystery and honorable mention to Russell Johnson (also in a three piece suit), best known as the professor on GILLIGAN'S ISLAND. Johnson was actually an accomplished dramatic actor and had some good roles come his way over the years. The story is in two parts, as it all begins with an attempted prison escape and the gun in question hidden in a doctor's bag. This may have been taken from real life headlines, too. A very good script, which returns to the day when writers may have been more creative, or at least conjured up some diabolical bad guys. Watching slimy Haskell get his due, without giving too much away, is fun stuff. SEASON 3 CBS dvd box set. - by tcchelsey on IMDB A guy in prison is shot while trying to make a ridiculously impossible escape. It seems he got a gun out of a doctor's bag and tried to shoot his way out! Now the doctor is in trouble because he's accused of trying to facilitate the escape and Cannon's job is to determine if he was involved or not. The case later evolves a bit and becomes a search for missing money which, it turns out, is hidden in valuable coins. This is a modestly interesting episode of "Cannon" and in some ways reminded me of "The Fugitive". After all, the guy trying to escape might be innocent AND William Conrad (Cannon) was the narrator for this excellent 1960s series. Do yourself a favor and try it...the show is a bit better than "Cannon". - by planktonrules on IMDB Thoughts: The doctor (King) doesn't seem to notice that he's set up or better framed behind his back, and Brannon (Haskell) uses everyone to his own play, like he can - with money, which he's after in reality. So he and Cannon play a bit cat and mouse and see who's quicker and better but as usual, Cannon wins and even finds the hidden money.
Can be found on Youtube if interested, even in HD quality.

A dominant ideological current in Zionism has involved "negation of the Diaspora," the devaluing of everything Jews did and everything Jews have been since leaving Eretz Yisroel. This is essentially a form of self-rejection and self-hate, as our entire history is a part of us. We are not separable from it, and separating ourselves from it means deliberately mutilating ourselves, impoverishing our history and culture.
At the same time, a dominant ideological current in Diasporism has involved negation of the point of origin that makes the word "Diaspora" meaningful. To scatter oneself throughout the world implies that we were scattered from somewhere. That place was Eretz Yisroel. Our first language was Hebrew, and it remains a common language of the learned people of all Jewish communities, along with Aramaic. Our holidays revolve around Eretz Yisroel. It’s true that we have a process for accepting new people into the Jewish nation, but this process was already in place while we were still living in Eretz Yisroel, and is carried out through a justice system that comes down to us from that land, etc..
Ashkenazim developed a custom of only using Hebrew for religious purposes, and often applied this to Aramaic as well. This, however, is a purely Ashkenazi custom, and while our customs are important, they are not universal. In the Middle Ages, Sephardi scribes translated a host of secular works into Hebrew, and wrote a host of secular poems and other works. Italian Jews composed romances in Hebrew. I also believe we can abandon customs that are no longer suitable. We don't have to, but we can, and most of us have long ago abandoned this custom regarding Hebrew, beginning in pre-Zionist times with the Haskalic revival of Ashkenazi Secular Hebrew.
